Daily Writing Challenge (May 2025) 5/26, Day 2 Placate / Graceful
(Warning for manipulation, mild gaslighting via shadow magic I suppose?)
Morning found Serenas entering the Sojourn’s walking gardens as she usually did to meet her young guide, Seon. A thread of nervousness made her heart flutter in approach, but she had long learned how to mask her nerves with composed grace and elegant stature around a table of judging nobility. She strode to the humble mistweaver with the same trained presentation, smiled as the fuzzy face turned to greet her.
“Are we ready to take this show on the road?!” Seon asked with his typical charged energy. He’d been tasked with accompanying her around Pandaria, and they had made quite the adventurous pair. But the writer desired a different outcome today, and she gently turned his words in on him.
“Ah, but Seon, I think you have forgotten. I’ll be going to the Market on my own today,” Serenas blinked innocently into her own charade, feigning surprise.
“…huh?” The pandaren seemed minutely confused. Then skeptical. “Really?” He chuckled. “So when did the plan change, Miss Serra?”
The gentle smile curved her lips, placating his confusion, the skepticism. “Oh, I know we’ve gotten ourselves into a little habit,” she replied with a cant of the head in respectful apology, and continued to let her words flow with soft intention. A melliflous shift of tone, every word fed as suggestion to touch the mind with the shaded delicacy of a swallow’s wing. “But mother mentioned it just yesterday, do you remember? She said you needn’t take me to the Market this time. I do know my way after all.”
The mistweaver’s eyes clouded over with the mental nudge, smiling dazedly under the swaying thrall. “Oh, yeah…” It made all the sense, after all. Serenas certainly knew her way to the markets.
A soft blink of dark lashes, and she gently released Seon from the enthrallment, and further placated any rise of doubt with an offering. “But tomorrow maybe you would like to take me to the ruins you spoke of before? In the mountain here? We can talk to mother about it tonight and see what she thinks?” She gasped softly, sweeping him into the idea. “Let me surprise you with something from the Market in the meantime!”
“Heh!” Seon was fully on board, and waved the little writer in farewell as she started her exit from the walking gardens. “Sounds awesome!”
As Serenas made her way to the Tavern of the Mists by herself, she bit into her lip to contain the flutter of excited laughter. She had used the Shadow. She had actually done it. The Dawnsingers had always forbade the use of the Shadow, and she had lived in fear of their horror stories all of her life. But Nia was right: the Shadow was only the other side of the Light, and her draenic friend had all the faith in her that no Priest of the Living Flame had ever shown. It had been easy as carrying a melody to tell it true, to shade Seon’s mind and implant the false memory. A harmless veil, really. In the evening, he’d think nothing of it when she would guide him into conversation with her mother. Thoughts moved on. At least when they were not penned to paper.
Serenas could not wait to meet Nia as planned, and tell her everything.

one last time | d. priest
summary: serena and damian need to call it quits. but it’s breaking both their fragile hearts.
word count: 726 (short & sweet)
warnings: none!
authors note: something i wrote at 2 am. i fear i might write a part two but idk. again, ignore the lowercase im obsessed with it. sorry for the errors x
“feel like a failure, cause i know that i failed you”
sarena held his arm tightly, too afraid of him walking out of that door. and surprisingly, damian doesn’t move away. he only looks at her in sadness - her puffy cheeks and red eyes broke his heart. sarena took a step forward and kissed his arm softly.
“don’t do this, damian.” she pled, resting her head against his forearm. “i don’t want this.”
damian shut his eyes painfully, “i love you, baby, but this is what’s good for us.”
“i promise after that i’ll let you go”
it’s hard to see three years down the drain for something that couldn’t be fixed. too many factors brought them to this moment in time. the screaming, the fighting, the lying and the cheating. time and age separated them and it became harder to make this relationship make sense anymore.
damian couldn’t trust sarena; she’s younger, livelier, and there was a disconnect when he was on the road. then, sarena couldn’t trust damian with the groupies, the space, and the sheer fact that he couldn’t believe anything she told him.
the love wasn’t enough to keep them together when they were tearing each other apart. it was killing them to be in this relationship any longer, but neither one of them wanted to be the one to give it up - that was until damian knew he needed to let sarena go. if he didn’t, they’d end up resenting each other.
“but i got nothing here without you.”
so, they sat on the edge of the bed together, a bed they’ve shared for the past two years, realizing it was the end. sarena hasn’t been able to stop the tears that we’re streaming down her face. yet, she wasn’t worried about herself, she spent her time wiping away his tears and clinging to him like her life depended on it.
“i don’t wanna be without ya”
“i don’t want to hurt you anymore,” damian whispered in the darkness of the room. he moved serena’s hair from her face. “i care too much about you.”
sarena nodded slowly, unable to accept this, unable to come up with something to say to him. she rested her chin on her knee, letting the sobs fall into her hands. this wasn’t what she wanted, but she knew it's what they needed.
“do you think we’d be able to get back together in the future?” she asked between sobs, needing something to soothe the ache in her chest. “you can’t tell me we have to be like this forever.”
damian doesn’t speak. he only stared at the ground and serena felt sick to her stomach.
a sad smile came onto her face, “you want this to be a forever thing?”
“we can’t be friends, rina.” his voice cracked. “i can’t pretend, i love you too much, but i can’t give you a timeline and disappoint you or you disappoint me if someone else comes around.”
“I have nothing without you, Damian, and I don’t want to be without you.” she shouted weakly. “there won’t be anyone else.”
“i know i don’t deserve it, but stay with me a minute”
it’s silent for a long time afterwards. serena had no tears left to cry as she stared at the ground. damian sat close beside her, their fingers interlocked, not wanting to separate for a moment and make this real.
“i know you’ll leave in the morning, and i’ll have to accept that you won’t call, or text, but can we just sleep here for the next three hours before this is all over?” serena fought the tears, turning to look at damian. “and then i’ll let you go?”
damian nodded, wrapping his arm around her as they laid back. neither of them slept, it was silent and as the sun rose, serena squeezed his arm in place, wishing that he’d change his mind and stay. but, she knew he didn’t.
he gave her two long kisses, two painful kisses and got out of the bed. she couldn’t even turn to look at him as he walked out of the door. he whispered one last i love you and she was left with the silence of the house.
how was she supposed to accept this? because…
“all i really care is you wake up in my arms.”
pov: i cried when i wrote this. until next time x

Hallowed Knights: Black Pyramid was probably my favourite Age of Sigmar thing, all in all. I got to do all sorts of nitty-gritty world-building, show some non-battletome compliant units and introduce some great side-characters.
It tied up a bunch of loose ends, connected to dang near every other AoS book and short story I wrote, and had some actual pathos towards the end.
All that said, I did have to chop out a few things, including a scene where the Hallowed Knights debate killing beastmen cubs vs adopting them, and a novice warrior priest decides to take the decision out of their hands and raise the vicious toddlers himself.
The third book (tentatively titled Hallowed Knights: Steel Soul) would have followed on twenty years or so from this one, and found the Steel Souls (aided by the Twelfth Cohort of the Golden Gryphons freeguild - last seen in Black Pyramid) in Aqshy, mediating a cultural dispute between duardin settlers (descendants of the expatriate Firewalk duardin, mentioned in several of my books) and the fyreslayers they're inadvertently displacing, while simultaneously dealing with a first contact scenario that involves a remote mountain kingdom ruled by an infant godling under threat from an encroaching ogor afrostun.
Complications would ensue (of course) in the form of a Khornate cult of strategists hoping to transform said city into the bastion of an eternal war by assassinating the aforementioned godling.
Long story short, we'd get sub-plots and story-threads of: Gardus and an ogor prince breaking out of prison in order to save both their peoples from disaster; a wounded Cadoc Kel being forced into a 'Lone Wolf and Cub' situation with the infant godling; the last stand of Aetius Shieldborn; Serena Sunstrike vs the Eightfold Sword; duardin politics; Aqshian politics; Azyrite politics; discussions of colonialism and the introduction of a species of magmatic kangaroo-lizard that young fyreslayers like to ride in races.
But, obviously, this didn't happen. Ah well.
Anyway, you can still grab a digital or audio copy of Black Pyramid from Games Workshop and Black Library, if you're interested.

Hi. I read the new chapter. Left a comment but I wanna come here to say: AAAAAAAAAAA.
I have a question about the Sharran characters from Shadowheart's past. Are these actual Forgotten Realms characters or did you create them? If you did create them please tell me more!!!
Oh, what a cool question!!!! 😄💕 Thank you so much! Tbh I think the research is actually what makes writing this one so time consuming lol.
Every Sharran character mentioned by name in this chapter (and the Cormyrean Lionar/Capt. Morand!!) was fabricated by me lol. But not without some research!
(Sorry, this is a DOOZY of an answer lol)
So as usual, I took quite a few liberties with the world building- but I did consult my main two resources: The BG3 wiki and The Forgotten Realms wiki, respectively.
First, I read about the BG3 hierarchy:
Ranks of the Church of Shar from highest to lowest: Dark Justiciar Mother Superior of Shar Justiciar Crusader Sharran Fidelian Sharran Sentry Sharran Novice
Then, the FR iteration of the Church of Shar:
Titles
The church of Shar utilized a number of different titles for its clergy. Hundreds of years before Dale Reckoning, titles the church included:
Dark Heart, the leader of a temple.[23] Mother/Father Night, used to address superior priests.[17] Sister/Brother Night, used among most of Shar's clergy.[17] By the mid–14th century they had changed to: Flame of Darkness, an archpriest or direct servant of the Lady of Night.[2] Nightseer, the overpriest for the faithful within a given realm.[2] Darklady/lord, a senior priest that led a single cell.[2] Hand of Shar, an experienced priest that led Sharrans in battle or on quests for the church.[2] Watcher, the lowest-ranking order of the priesthood.[2] Adept of the Night, the title given to novice priests and priestesses.[2] Around a century later, the titles were simplified to include: Dark mother/father, leaders within the faith, with the suffix abbot or abbess[4] Dark sister/brother, fully-trained clergy members.[4] Initiate, novice members of the church.[4]
From here, it was just going to be about the experiences Shadowheart endured in the cloister, and building characters to fit. Now, not all these titles were applicable, but gave me a feel for what life in the cloister might have looked like. So:
Blademaster "Dark Brother" Kaelith: An arms master bearing responsibility for maintaining the armoury, training initiates to use arms, and maintaining order for Viconia. Could be a promoted Sentry, but it's not really a priest's position; so he gets the colloquial "Brother" as his title. He’s very clearly a zealot and a piece of shit, so…perfect! He quite literally would try to have the compassion beaten out of Shadowheart.
Overseer Serathia: Closest to a "Hand of Shar" but not quite; her position is that of a torturer or even an executioner. I don't think open combat is her specialty...she thinks she's an artist...or even A spymaster, if you will. She's good at getting secrets out, and teaching initiates to endure torture, mainly by just...inflicting it upon them. I leaned into making her an elf because that helps with the "years upon years of service to Shar" storyline, but also because I kind of liked the idea of Shadowheart being ostracized for being a half-elf. The idea of carving Shar's symbols into Shadowheart's flesh came from Shads' concept art tattoos!!!!
Ferg Drogher (Sharran sentinel, demoted back to lookout) : Idk I just think he's greasy and would do that type of shit. Also I think those shared dorms were just a fucking minefield for uncomfortable encounters. His comment when you meet him in Rivington about not wanting to believe rumors about "the company Shadowheart keeps" and then glaring at Serena always made me feel like he was a little into Shads. Unfounded but I just ran with it. Really- this scene is meant to highlight the one fucking time Viconia bothered to act maternal towards Shadowheart. She's cruel, she's abusive, but by Shar keep your greasy predatory fingers off her daughter chosen acolyte. This was inspired by the banter Jaheira has with a Selunite Shads about how Viconia may have loved her...in her own awful way.
Nightseer: He's a powerful overpriest who's been tasked with conducting this ritual for Shar. I took liberties with the name "Nightseer"- I believe his specialty lies in the ability to manipulate one's dreams, to do Shar's bidding, as he is with Serena. He is by far the most powerful person left in that cloister.
#sorry I can yap about writing forever lol#thank you so much for reading and commenting omgggg 🥰💕#worldbuilding#nls series#shadowheart#ask#silent-moons-camp

The young witch had a bit of a reputation around the small city. Scaring local residents, playing a few pranks on the priests with his “spells” and even playfullly flirting with a few of the nuns. However, one in particular always somehow got a bit of a blush out of him. Just a simple flutter of those big beautiful eyes or a playful stern look was enough for him to stop his shenanigans. Even now Serena was able to get him to help with some repairs around the church but he wasn’t going to stop flirting with the cute nun. “Oh good! I can just grab a hammer and start pounding away~” from @bewitchingbaker
Innocence still clung to Serena, and so his double entendre flew over her head. She smiled at him and handed over the hammer in question while the older nun within earshot, Sister Cecilia, shot Chris a dirty look. “Only on the marked spots, please,” the young nun said as she pointed at the clear markings that Father Robert had made. “They’re supposed to secure the boards properly so that they don’t fly off at the next storm again.”
Noticing his kit making her way over to the tools, sharp nails and rusty metal bits, she scooped the animal up and in her arms. “Troublemaker like your father, hm?” she scolded Dee gently. “I’ll give her some milk to try and keep her in one spot. Is there anything you want from the kitchens?” Like everyone else, she knew of Chris and his trickster reputation, but she could see that under all that, he had the capacity to be kind, and it was what she clung to whenever people spoke ill of him.

MxN Week Day 6: Heaven & Earth
@senshixshitennouweeks this one's a touch spicy. Enjoy
His hands were hot against the skin of her stomach. Like lightning from God.
“Father,” she moans, “we… we can’t…”
“Can’t we?”
He buried his face in her hair and inhales and already, Lita feels herself succumbing.
How she got into this position?
Only God knew.
She’d first heard that they were getting a new priest in their parish, she’d paid it no mind. Another dusty old scarecrow of a man, here to cast a judgmental eye on anyone who didn’t spend half the day praying and the other half toiling while he quoted scripture.
Their last priest, Father Altman, had been particularly stern and nosy in regards to other peoples’ family business.
Rumor had it that finding out about one of the alter boys skipping church to go fishing had led to a rage-induced heart attack.
Which was how he was sent to the little town of Crossroads as the late Father Altman’s replacement.
Father Stanton. When he’d stopped her in the street, asking directions, she’d been gob smacked by this chiseled adonis.
He was… so different from what she knew of priests.
He was American, by all accounts, having served as a chamberlain for the Navy before being sent here to spread God’s word.
A broad, bear of a man, a head above her in height with his long thick hair bound behind him as he walked the length of the village, sometimes stopping by her own tavern and chatting up some of the regulars.
He’s particularly friendly with the town doctor, that dark-haired gent that Serena somehow managed to charm into marriage.
Marriage.
Something she’d often dreamed of, but always seemed to slip through her fingers. She was only human, after all. Was it a sin to desire human companionship?
Even when the companion she most desired was a man of the cloth?
He brought her back to the present, when one of his hands leave her stomach and cups one of her breasts.
“God be praised,” he whispered, “for making you so perfect.”
She’d caught what seemed to be him staring at her during one service too many. At first, Lita had brushed it off as being a coincidence, but Stanton’s eyes seemed drawn to her wherever she sat in the pews.
And his gaze had begun following her when he visited her tavern as well.
It wasn’t anything, she’d tell herself. How could a priest hold any romantic inclination towards anyone Earthly?
Things had only become worse when she had delivered some freshly baked bread to the church as an offering. As she was walking to meet him halfway down the aisle, she tripped on a loose tile and fell forward. She was preparing to meet the floor; she knew how to fall and pick herself up, she'd done it before.
Except he’d caught her.
Lita knew she was one of the tallest people in Crossroads. One of the strongest, too, if her consistent winning of town sporting events was anything to go on.
And yet, this man caught and set her back onto her feet as if she weighed no more than a basket of eggs.
And he was just as careful with her.
“Are you alright?” he asked.
Shame made itself comfortable between her lungs and stomach and stayed there as she studied his features up close.
Deep brown eyes, boring into her own green, a hint of stubble that she wonders how it would feel under her fingers, and the definition of muscle beneath his habit.
Pushing away from him, she ran from the church, cheeks blazing and didn't see him again until the next night, when he sat in her tavern, his gaze following her as she worked the bar.
In spite of the tension from having him there, she couldn’t bring himself to make him leave. She’d chased her fair share of unwanted patrons out but…
This was different.
He was the last to leave and as she cleans the table of the meagre meal that he’d ordered for himself that she finds the note under his plate.
We must speak tonight. Come to the church at nine o’clock.
She should ignore the message. Cut him out of her life and ignore his piercing gazes during the next Sunday service.
She arrived at the church to find him kneeling before the alter in prayer.
“Why did you run?”
His voice echoed off the pews and walls and Lita felt acutely aware of how… isolated the two of them were. No witnesses. None save the almighty.
“What?”
He rose from his position and turned to face her, the candlelight casting his features in stark relief with the shadows.
“Why did you run?” he repeated, “the night before. When I caught you?”
Father Stanton covered the space between them with those massive strides of his that she knew could keep pace with her own. Lita swallowed a lump in her throat, not sure why.
“Did I do something to offend you?” he asked.
Yes, you made me lust after you was what she wanted to say. She wanted to tell him to stop making her think about a man of the cloth like this and let her go back to her own little life again.
Her life before he came.
“You didn’t do anything,” she said at last.
“Then why did you run?”
“Because… I felt guilty…”
“Guilty of what?”
He was too close. Within an arm’s reach. She shouldn’t be thinking about what it would be like if he took her into his arms.
She turned away.
“Whatever you say to me will remain between us.”
And God, she thinks. God knows them better than they know themselves. She musters her courage and hopes that her acknowledgement does not lead to something else.
“I… had impure thoughts.”
His pause was almost too much to bear. Finally, he spoke.
“Thoughts of what?”
He sounded even closer now and she prayed for integrity.
“Me?”
Her silence answers for her.
“Do you know why I was sent here?”
Honestly, she had never given it much thought. She had assumed he had been sent because their priest was dead and needed a replacement.
“Because the last bishop I served under was convinced I had broken my vows.”
Broken vows? No-one had ever mentioned that before. What had he done to warrant his former bishop’s ire?
“Did you?” Lita asked.
Another long pause.
“I wanted to… but I didn’t”
“Why not?”
“Because I felt it wasn’t worth it.”
The air felt electric. It was somehow both sweltering and too cold to stand, not when Father Stanton was so close to her. She needed to get out of her. Back to the safety of her home.
Only, did she really want to? He had admitted his own weakness when he was supposed to be above such things.
“Can a man be Godly,” Father Stanton asked, “even when the temptations of earth beckon?”
“What temptations?” she asked, her heart thundered in her chest.
“A woman,” he said, “as beautiful as a winter rose.”
She wants to ask him what he means, to give voice to the questions that are just rewordings of a single query.
But it’s too late. His arms tenderly encircle her waist and his lips press against her neck.
Thoughts of God were soon gone, replaced with other less heavenly thoughts.
Yes. Touch me. Caress me. It's been too long.
And as she returned the kisses of the Father, melted at the nearly bruising passion of his touch, Lita wondered if he could deliver her to rapture this very night.
Was this wrong?
Those were concerns for later, she thought as his hands dipped between her legs.

Is it known how old Kirika and Shirabe were when enrolled by the FIS? Serena looked like a toddler so it's easy to eyeball Maria's age when enrolled in consequence but for these two it seems harder
This is a good question that I unfortunately can only answer by taking a guess from what we've been given
Going by the anime, if we assume these shots from a flashback in GX 3 were all at the same time and they were actually in the same room together:
...That would make Shirabe and Kirika at most 8 and 9 there, respectively (since Serena died when they were that age), but it could be before that.
The keywords don't say anything on the subject
Official material outside of the anime? I hesitate to include any of that, but Shirabe Meshi shows all four of them together at the FIS at one point:
Of course, Shirabe Meshi was said by Kaneko to take place in a different world than the main series, which makes sense with everyone being alive the way they are. It's possible the timeline was slightly different, idk.
The thing with the Nephilim still happened there so this would still be before that, but Serena didn't die, she just got so badly injured she was frozen until they had the means to treat her later (like in XDU)
And XDU isn't canon to the anime so take this one with a grain of salt, but it has a line by the priest at Tsuki Shrine that the car accident that took his granddaughter happened "around 10 years ago." If the implication that Shirabe is the granddaughter is actually the case, then that would mean she was 5 or so

Been away from tumblr so long yall. BUT i have a new coloring about my #spidersona
Ive been spending my time to write her lore etc. Sen is her alternate name. Serena reduced to "Sen".
Serena Taira or Sen Taira, is the one and only Spider-Ronin in Earth-2208. Her universe was a post-apocalyptic one. Unlike other spider person, she obtain the role after the spider god encountered her dying in a ditch.
Its almost like moonknight lmaoaoaoa.
She who wished to live, accept the role of high priest of the spider god and atp, said "High-Priest" is just a merc. With the special Nodachi, she slain evil for the web of destiny.
But is she a destony slave? No. She believes that mortals have choices for a reason. And fate is just another lie. All variants of Serena will always die early. And her current existence is the proof of her belief. She lived, defying the "Canon".
Her existence opposing Miguel's.

41. Does your character’s family affect your character in any way?
Get To Know My Character
House Dawnsinger is ruled by a council of painfully traditional Light-honoring figureheads and influential parties that set to mold the youngest generations into what benefitted the House the most. And Serenas, as one of the youngest of these generations was raised to fit a particular ideal when her parents became absent from her life. Just as her brother served by becoming a Farstrider like his father before him, Serra was expected to fit the role her mother left behind as a Dawnsinger Priest, bound to the Living Flame. Secondarily she was expected to marry well and pass on her heritage to more daughters with the continuing spark.
And so, Serra was raised to be obedient, unquestioning, defaulting to those within the family that had lived longer than her to know what was best for her. And while she rarely went without monetarily, some unrealistic standards of beauty were pushed on her in diet, look and demeanor, yet expected to keep humble and servicing. Her individual voice was rarely given audience or consideration among elder family, and any expression in individual want was questioned for its wisdom, and how it would serve the House as a whole.
Now removed from the restrictive reach of her House, Serra still is learning how to become her own person, how to grow beyond her stifled life and break out of the mold the Dawnsingers set her in. She has her brother's sense of adventure and some inkling of his mischief inspired in her when she was very young, and she carries her father's generous heart with her too. And despite the years that have passed without her and how much she has changed, her mother is now her careful guide into an autonomy that Serra has been missing all her life, helping her take steps further into her own freedom, both from the House she was raised to serve, and the caged doors still hanging in her heart.
As her mother says now, writing stories is divine, but it is much more of a delight to live them.

Materialistic Lady
Original Novel by hanirim (“Can We Become Family?” & “The Villainess is a Marionette”)
Comic by GGOLI
“Materialistic Lady” returns on December 26th with season 2.
Review: It’s cute! FL is often drawn with squirrel ears or a tail & her brother is drawn with rabbit ears. They’re adorable. She’s silly! Stories about debt normally stress me out (I have enough irl), but it’s actually funny watching her fail to pay off her debts because we know she’ll be okay. It’s a light hearted RoFan, & I love a protective himbo older brother.
Summary: ogStory: Crown Prince Anoch was cursed to have no emotions because the Emperor killed Sabrina's (a witch) lover to marry her for land. Roselia Kaneph gets engaged to the emotionless Crown Prince Anoch to clear her family's debt, falls in love, & steps aside when he falls for Serena, who has a piece of his soul stone, which grants him some emotion & they fall in love.
Our FL transmigrates as Roselia Kaneph, gets the soul fragment first, befriends Serena (ogFL) & Jane Ennes, and gets partial credit when Serena saves the Emperor. The Emperor doesn’t like house Kaneph, so he gives her a much smaller reward, and Serena’s now Viscountess of Floen. Roselia’s engagement is arranged. While trying to avoid reporters, Roselia finds Crown Prince Anoch's portrait, touches it, the gems fall out, he thinks she's a thief, she says she’s an emotion expert, trips, they kiss, & the reporters get pics. Roselia decides to show Anoch disgust through terrible food then has the chef make his favorites. Anoch realizes why people eat delicious food. Reige Kaneph (Roselia’s brother) misunderstands a situation, attacks Anoch, revealing he’s an elementalist, & ends up having to work for Anoch. At Anoch's birthday, things don't go as planned, but people think they're close & that Anoch is flustered. Roselia starts a trend of “naturalism” - it’s an elf thing. As the celebration continues, Elizabeth Dalton hangs around Reige; her family used to be scholars, but they deal in information now (1-20).
The palace sent a priest to heal Verdi, Kaneph’s only maid. Jane refers Michael to help Roselia. Roselia finds Reige’s constantly scammed. Jane reports that the money lenders are suspicious. Roselia explains to Anoch that they need to act like a couple to convince the public, which will sway the vatican, who don’t want him as emperor. Roselia sells pictures of her dates with Anoch until he passes a new law that means people in photos have to give permission for them to be used. Serena comes to the Kaneph farm & finds a gold bracelet with unknown writing. At Jane’s family banquet, Anoch surprises Roselia by attending, seems jealous, dances with her, picks her up when she tries to step on his feet, he’ll pay her to help him feel specific emotions, wants to spend more time together, and she remembers that love is what got the vatican to acknowledge him in the ogStory. Anoch suspects Roselia's working with the vatican because they healed Verdi & she knows he didn’t kill his brothers; she says he’s only thinking logically & not emotionally. When someone asks about her engagement, Anoch says the Emperor just approved it. He apologizes for earlier.
Anoch blinds her with money & she starts the hard training to be an elementalist. He gives her an amethyst necklace, which becomes a trend. They nail a press conference & have to do more interviews. Anoch says he's making a law to standardize nobles giving gifts so they don't look like bribes, "to protect Roselia from rumors". He tells her not to worry about money. Anoch gifts her a jewelry set. Elizabeth might just have a crush on Reige. The engagement party ends early when Arden, a priest that hates nobles, arrives early in town. Anoch has Roselia confess before he goes, & he blushes when saying it back. Ardin finds Roselia drunk. She goes with him & he finds she has 3 souls: Korean-self, ogRoselia, & Anoch's soul stone (21-57).

The Grue-Crew go a-hunting in the land of TV horror in this episode and encounter Moon of the Wolf (1972). This surprisingly good TV movie features a pack (yes, I said it) of good character actors with an equally good crew. Can you uncover the culprit in this Southern Gothic whodunit? Is it David Janssen of The Fugitive fame? Maybe Bradford Dillman (Bug, Piranha)? Could it be Barbara Bush (When Worlds Collide, It Came from Outer Space)? John Berardino, Geoffrey Lewis, and Royal Dano are also lurking about. And, of course, the Grue-Crew often distract themselves with tangentials in this talkabout.
At the time of this writing, Moon of the Wolf (1972) is available to stream from Hoopla and Tubi. It’s available on physical media as a Blu-ray from the Vinegar Syndrome Archive Collection.
Gruesome Magazine’s Decades of Horror 1970s is part of the Decades of Horror two-week rotation with The Classic Era and the 1980s. In two weeks, the next episode, chosen by Bill, will be José Ramón Larraz’s Vampyres (1974). The Grue-Crew loves them some vampyres with a “y!”

Upcoming Games from Me
been a bit since i touched upon the progress of the games ive been working on proper, so gonna do a lil write-up to give a refresher and hopefully inspired me to get back to regular game dev soon
this is a long write-up, so ive hidden everything under a read more for anyone that's genuinely curious to learn more about the three games ahead
Hallowed Discharge
this one is still slated to be the kinky and text-focused game made within the Quest engine. not entirely text though, as i utilize the map-making system within it so the player has a better idea of where they're going
short story summary like ive said befores is that you play as Reverend Artemis, a furry priest basically, and your goal is peacefully exorcising spirits from a long-abandoned mall
besides the protagonist Reverend Artemis, every other character is ghosts of every major or minor roles. it would be far too much work for me to detail every single one right now, especially cause there's still a big chunk ahead not yet written for!
there's a basic energy system in place tied to one's actions in the game, alongside a faith system and weight system. weight system affects not only the Reverend physically but also which tasks are feasible, how interactions pan out, and can lead to early game overs depending on the situation (ie: you hit the maximum in-game limit and cant feasible move out of somewhere)
the game's setting is the Delícias do Vale, an abandoned mall near the outskirts of the town of Sweet-Kiss Oasis in the country of Centauri. basically you'll explore the different floors of the mall, both parking lots, and a small bit of roads surrounding the mall
development progress: MOST of the map is set up in terms of foundation and what connects to much. there's still areas to block off / require alternate routes or tools to access based on the story and player's inventory. the main objectives are like 20% done currently, with the other 80% basically requiring me to handle the remaining exorcism tasks
possible release: still hoping for later this year at the earliest. the date has changed a lot due to me having to take breaks and hitting bouts of burnout. health always comes first, so if i need to take this slow for the rest of the process i will
Enchanted Bliss
my first attempt proper at making a visual novel, within the Renpy engine. basically a mixture between a story about furry wizards investigate a city-wide disaster and friendship and / or romance possibly budding between the protagonist and one of the supporting characters
characters involved include the protagonist Dylan Rhodes, the supporting wizards you can team up with (Brava Denver, Maple Finley, Marcos Wylder, Price Flynn, Remy Taffy and Serena Journey) and the lead supervisor for the team Carmichael Kentz
unlike other romance-adjacent dating sim type deals, this VN is made to ONLY support choosing one of the six supporting wizards to team up with during a single player. once you've made the choice, you CANNOT turn back unless you load a save back to the beginning of the game before making the choice. this was done to better flesh out the relationships between player and choice as well as make the dialogue and mini stories involved with each choice have way more impact and care put into em
main setting will be set around the demolished city of Filia Lunae in the country of Centauri. depending on who you team up with, you'll get a chance to either explore a facility within the city, the sewer system under it, or the outskirts where a river runs along the north edge of the city
development progress: all the main backgrounds are drawn, including the main screen. i'll still have to draw epilogue screens eventually and any bonus area screens if it seems needed. ive made at least 10 music loops for the soundtrack, tho i still need to make a LOT more before i start applying them to portions of the game while moving the rest to the official OST later on. only the introduction of the game is written, right before the player makes the choice of who they will team up with. none of the character assets / emotions are drawn yet but i'll get to it. only things ill have others handle is public domain sounds with credits given in the game of course. music, art, writing, and coding will fully be done by myself
possible release: realistically Sometime 2024 at the earliest, i cant possible be less vague than that because i'm trying to be realistic as possible with how much work is still ahead on this.
Nigh Maintenance
my first proper RPG maker game, following many scrapped less-focused attempts over the years. it's only in its early planning stages right now, with most of it being in the mind and not transferred to a proper document in my folders yet
will involve the main cast of my characters Waever Nuelle, Glory Fantasy, Mason, and Weston Fredericks. friend group of furry investigators of sorts, focusing on strange, paranormal, supernatural, and even extraterrestrial scoops and cases. i plan to include one supporting character past that, a currently-unnamed trucker that made her soft debut in my short story AFTERGLOW back in June 2020. will draw out her design and name in the future
basic story i got going currently is barebones but something along the lines of the main cast traveling with the trucker either through a desert focused setting or a cold focused setting. perhaps a mountainous one if im feeling so bold..? we'll see, only today as of writing am i finally figuring out a very rough story concept that excites me for once
will not feature combat, at least in the normal sense. i might do a gag where you 'fight' a door to break it open or something like that. generally past that i'll have puzzles that tie in inventory and stats of the party members, provided it doesnt get too ambitious. also lots of text and dialogue, much like the rest of my works lol
possible release: who knows, wouldnt be surprised if the 'earliest' i can say is 2025 but even then remember that as of writing i havent even BEGUN to write down plans and ideas in a document yet. all in the mind until i feel ready to start that stage of work

"Well... it looks like unless you find an alternative, you are going to have to use your remaining energy wisely,"
She pauses— if not to think of her next witty retort, then to let the horror of the moment sink in. Of course, they are far too early along for marriage, but goodness if it is not a little entertaining to pretend his outrageous hand holding claim had been serious.
"Bit or no bit, this 'priest guy' might still be keeping an eye on you, and we wouldn't want you to be the target of a lecture, do we?"
A mix of laughter and a melodious hum muffles against Serena's lips, hands still outstretched; fingers still doing that little taunt of a dance.
"I can call the Kalos Power Plant. They might have some energy they can divert from Prism Tower for you. Oh! And I'll let Florian know, so you won't accidentally be led astray. He will hold you to it."
"Darlin', my heart, my soul, it's a BIT! I had to send off that priest guy! I didn't marry Cheren and Bianca when we took our first steps into Route 1!"
"Though, wait, I do call him my husband from time to time just t'make him angry..."
Back to his main point, he gestures wildly at her hands, tantalizingly dancing away from him.
"But I need 'em! They're like my energy reserves!"
