One of the rules of this union conference is basically "don't start shit" but I was picking up a name badge because I didn't get one at registration, and this woman walking up behind me said something like

"Ugh, it's so stupid they're making us wear masks. It's completely pointless, and everyone is just complying-"

And then she came up beside me, and we made eye contact over my adorable black-with-rainbow-stars mask

And I raised my eyebrows at her. I waited for her to continue. I waited for her to say anything. I was so ready to pounce.

She paused. Then she kept walking

Yeah you better walk away or I'll get us both kicked out of this conference

just found out my dumbass brother caught covid bc he wasn't wearing his mask at school even though our mom begged him to bc she's immunocompromised + struggling with the effects of long haul covid + monitoring a bacterial lung infection + has underlying chronic disorders istg if she gets sick again bc of him im going straight home to beat the shit out of him bc that could legitimately be the thing that does her in and he knew this well and true but still decided to go ahead and unmask at school all because he felt like the odd one out for wearing one

Elain and Lucien have been known to wear a mask or two, both physical and metaphorical. For @elucienweekofficial masks prompt, @cauldronblssd and I wanted to do our take on both! We imagine that Elain and Lucien have spent a long time denying the effects of the bond and their feelings for each other. In this commission by the_megabee33, they take off the masks to slip away at a masquerade ball. Of course for this fire and sunshine couple, things get heated quickly!

Miryam and Drakon/everyone thinking the worst of Jurian gives me the same vibe as Feyre and Rhysand/everyone thinking the worse of Tamlin.

The ex's getting the worse reputations, damned for doing the best they could and never forgiven for playing double agents, which ultimately aided in winning their wars. Odd. I don't like it. Tamlin is left with nothing, and Jurian had gone through 500 years of trauma and hell. Wtf.

A very very drunk man approached me on the bus last night and said

"Is something new going on? Why are so many people wearing masks?"

He was not wearing one. Me and my husband and several other passengers were. Masks are not mandatory on the TTC rn but they are strongly encouraged

So I calmly told him

"Covid, the flu, and a severe respiratory illness called RSV are all going very strong right now, so we have to be extra careful."

And he countered with how he's being careful already and has all his shots, and was like, trying to convince me he was a good and considerate person, but if he has his shots why should he need a mask?

And I didn't have the energy to give a pro-science explanatory speech to a drunk guy just then so I said

"My mom is sick, and I can't risk her getting sicker, so I am taking every possible precaution."

And he was like "Oh, okay"

I had to get off the bus shortly after so that was the end of it. I wonder if any of what I said actually reached his inebriated brain

It was a No DQ match so I had no complaints anyway but

Since I was the one who pulled Chris into a No DQ match in the first place, I'm responsible for the whole mask situation

If I was fighting a masked wrestler in a No DQ match, I'd rip his mask off too

That being said, Chris is a real romantic huh

But yeah, when the blade of those scissors was so close to my eye, I got so scared I couldn't even move

A very validating fact I learned recently is that you aren't being dramatic/faking when you unmask about your symptoms

If you're used to masking normally, it absolutely carries over to masking your physical ailments

Learning to unmask with your "invisible" disabilities is extremely difficult due in large part to the self fakeclaiming / denial
