Fucked up that chronic digestion issues arent taken seriously as a disability. "lol u gotta take a shit" Um yeah and i can end up on the toilet for half an hour, doesnt matter where or what I'm doing. Sometimes i gotta use the bathroom multiple times in the same hour. I get nauseous for seemingly no reason and throw up. I eat "too much" (read: a normal portion) and i throw up. It interferes with my life and it sucks ass.
I'm trying to semi brute force my body to tolerate foods again...
Any anecdotal experience of if a prebiotic (like gos) probiotic (foods only like kimchi as I can't tolerate probiotic pills) would help grow more good bacteria in the gut?
Also eating more of foods I'm sensitive to? I got this enzyme called Digest Spectrum (and dear God do i recommend this - I was able to eat a bagel and cream cheese for first time in 2 years without immense pain upon 1 single bite full). So now I Can eat some foods I'm sensitive of (I'm still too fucking sensitive to drink Metagenics GI Replenish though and it's fucking dairy content despite a nutritionist thinking it'd fix me -.-). So if eating a given food feeds rhe bacteria it needs to Digest said food, I could start slowly building uo those bacteria? Maybe? If that's how it works (cause idk how it works)
This post is because I care about your gut health. My friends, it truly starts with your gut. The state of our gut's microbiome influences everything from nutrients we do/don't absorb, blood sugar, mood, cravings, mental health, sensitivities, inflammation.... When it comes to your health, prioritizing your gut is non-negotiable.
This Prebiotic-Rich Moisturizer Has Given Me the Healthiest Skin of My Life
It's formulated with goat milk.
By Marcio "MZA"
"Probiotics" and "prebiotics" are buzzwords often thrown around in the skincare and wellness industries. Still, many people don't even understand how they work, why they're good for us, and how we should use them. After all, who wants to put bacteria on their skin? Especially if you already deal with acne.
It's me. I'm people. So just hear me out on this one.
I’ve dealt with acne since my teenage years, and despite having access to the best products and in-office treatments on the market, it never seems to go away. This rings especially true in the winter months when my skin becomes parched from the dry air and harsh winds, and since I've struggled to find a thick moisturizer that doesn't break me out (until now), my skin reacts to the weather and I suffer the consequences. So, when I learned about pre- and probiotics my initial reaction was to say "no, thank you." However, after using Beekman 1802's Bloom Cream moisturizer for a few weeks my skin completely transformed — and now I wax poetic about it every chance I get.
The reason most heavy moisturizers make me break out is because they use comedogenic ingredients that do a great job at sealing in moisture but clog my pores. This one, however, does not.
Its postbiotic-rich formula is filled with an elegant cocktail of moisturizing sunflower seed oil, calming aloe extract, nourishing honey, collagen-boosting whey protein, and a plethora of other common skin-friendly ingredients. What makes this moisturizer so unique is that it adds goat milk prebiotic, milk postbiotic, and healing Epsom salts.

What's more, despite feeling rich and thick, it absorbs quickly into the skin and feels lightweight and pillow-y. The formula is delectable, and I love that now I don't have to sacrifice a clear complexion for a moisturized one. I can have my cake and eat it too.

The Power of Probiotics & Prebiotics: Working Together for Optimal Gut Health
Probiotics and prebiotics are essential for maintaining a healthy gut microbiome. Understanding how they work together can help you optimize your gut health and overall well-being.
What are Probiotics and Prebiotics?
Probiotics:
Probiotics are live beneficial bacteria that can be found in fermented foods and supplements. They help balance the gut microbiome by adding to the population of good bacteria.
Prebiotics:
Prebiotics are non-digestible fibers that serve as food for beneficial bacteria in the gut. They promote the growth and activity of these bacteria, supporting a healthy microbiome.
The Synergy Between Probiotics and Prebiotics
Enhanced Gut Health:
Probiotics and prebiotics work together to maintain a balanced gut microbiome. Probiotics add beneficial bacteria, while prebiotics nourish these bacteria, enhancing their effectiveness.
Improved Digestion:
The combination of probiotics and prebiotics supports efficient digestion and nutrient absorption. This can reduce digestive issues like bloating, constipation, and gas.
Boosted Immunity:
A healthy gut microbiome strengthens the immune system. Probiotics and prebiotics enhance immune function by supporting the growth of beneficial bacteria that protect against harmful pathogens.
Incorporating Probiotics and Prebiotics into Your Diet
Probiotic Foods:
Yogurt: Choose plain, unsweetened yogurt with live and active cultures. Yogurt can be enjoyed on its own, with fruit, or as a base for smoothies.
Kefir: Kefir is a fermented milk drink rich in probiotics. It can be consumed as a beverage or added to smoothies and cereal.
Sauerkraut and Kimchi: These fermented vegetables are rich in probiotics and add a tangy flavor to meals. Enjoy them as a side dish or condiment.
Prebiotic Foods:
Bananas: Bananas are a convenient and delicious source of prebiotics. They can be eaten as a snack or added to smoothies, yogurt, and oatmeal.
Garlic and Onions: These kitchen staples are rich in prebiotics and add flavor to a variety of dishes. Incorporate garlic and onions into soups, stews, stir-fries, and salads.
Asparagus and Leeks: Asparagus and leeks are versatile vegetables that can be roasted, grilled, or added to soups and salads. They are excellent sources of prebiotics.
Supplements:
If your diet lacks sufficient probiotics and prebiotics, consider taking supplements. Look for high-quality probiotic supplements with multiple strains of bacteria and prebiotic supplements containing ingredients like inulin and FOS (fructooligosaccharides).
Benefits Beyond Gut Health
Mental Health:
The gut-brain axis connects gut health to mental health. A balanced microbiome can positively influence mood and reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression.
Weight Management:
Probiotics and prebiotics can support weight management by improving digestion, reducing inflammation, and regulating appetite. A healthy gut microbiome can enhance metabolic function and support weight loss efforts.
Skin Health:
A healthy gut can lead to clearer skin by reducing inflammation and supporting the body's natural detoxification processes. Probiotics and prebiotics contribute to a balanced microbiome that promotes skin health.
Practical Tips for Optimal Gut Health
Balanced Diet:
Incorporate a variety of probiotic and prebiotic foods into your diet. Aim for a mix of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and fermented foods.
Stay Hydrated:
Drink plenty of water to support digestion and maintain a healthy microbiome. Hydration is essential for the proper function of prebiotics in the digestive system.
Regular Exercise:
Physical activity supports gut health by promoting good digestion and reducing stress. Aim for at least 30 minutes of exercise most days of the week.
Probiotics and prebiotics work together to support optimal gut health. By incorporating both into your diet, you can enhance digestion, boost immunity, and improve overall well-being. Prioritize a balanced diet rich in probiotic and prebiotic foods to maintain a healthy microbiome and enjoy the benefits of a thriving gut.
