Recently had a silly Handplates dream where Papyrus was trying to snoop around Gaster and Alphys’ lab, but didn’t know who Alphys was and so was trying to pass it off as his own lab lol (Patreon)
#Doodles#Dream log#UT#Handplates#Papyrus#Gaster#Sans#Alphys#And also he was Big Brother Papyrus to a babybones Sans lol#I doodled them as close to the dream as possible so if it's silly or doesn't make sense take it up with my subconscious lol#I remember Gaster had a reputation for being very charming and charismatic which ?? Sure okay lol#He was also quite smiley - personally I read that as him putting on a face to the public but even that seems out of character for him lol#Everyone else was pretty much as usual - Alphys small and nervous and Papyrus loud and bombastic#I don't remember what exactly he was looking for - doubly weird 'cause I hadn't reread him and Sans exploring yet! :0#Just of them moving into their house - though I did read a bunch just before sleeping so safe to say I can attribute that lol#This was the only really clear part of the dream - the rest was just scrolling scrolling scrolling pages and pages of comic panels#Can't imagine why lol#Also intercut with some of the poses I ended up doodling before - surprise! They were dream doodles lol#Also in case it's not clear - Alphys was Very Much Present while Papyrus was trying to pass himself off as the name on the door lol#Oh yeah I'm pretty sure he was also speaking in WingDings thus why Alphys didn't immediately call him out lol#The room was quite cute actually - not at all the sterile grey of the True Lab#Warm and wooden with high windows nearly covered in clutter and paperwork with a desk in the middle lit by yellow light#Cozy#Barely evil-looking at all

I feel like a lot of these are things parents should be teaching their kids, not schools. Not to mention things like coding and cooking are available as electives in many high schools, and public speaking is embedded in pretty much every subject through presenting projects to the class, as well as through speech classes.
But I just don’t get why people are all, “Why didn’t we learn how to do taxes in school?! Why did school not teach us how to fix our cars?!” These things just…don’t seem like school-specific skills. These are things parents should be teaching. Why have kids if you aren’t planning on teaching them how to be functioning adults? It’s really weird how people want to take more responsibilities away from parents and put them on teachers’ shoulders instead.

I dont understand how so many people think Elon Musk is a genius when his public speaking skills could be described as "sleep deprived 6th grader who is unenthusiasticaly bullshitting their way through a book report on Frankenstein"

i wish i could just rent out, like, a conference room at a hotel or one of those big rooms for convention dealer halls and shit and invite like 20-30 people to listen to me ramble about whatever i’ve been hyperfixating on for the past month and then somehow make a living doing that.

hey femme, I have two questions for you.
1. How can I get over my fear of public speaking? For context, I have been missing this class that I have a presentation for because 1. I am super nervous of going up in front of people and talking and 2. A guy that I used to talk to is in there. So I’m super nervous://
2. How can I gain confidence for my everyday life?
Thank you🩶 appreciate you tons!
Hi love! Thank you for your support xx
For public speaking, I would say these tips could help you out:
Outline your talking points beforehand and revise them to the point they come almost naturally to you. It's easier to present yourself well when you're nervous when you're thinking on autopilot
Slow down your speech. Take your time to enunciate your words and comprehensively articulate your thoughts. This practice helps you appear more calm and confident while also giving you the brain space necessary to think
Try to find a place to look in the distance (not at someone directly) and talk to that spot on the wall/ceiling like they're your friend or someone you know well. Pretend the other people aren't even there. It takes away of a lot the anxiety and allows you to focus on presenting yourself well
For tips on gaining confidence in general, I recommend checking out my guide on How To Build Unshakeable Self-Confidence (hyperlinked).
Hope this helps xx

#everything’s fine and I’m fine I’m just saying this to say it rn#I don’t know what I would choose to do if he WAS still alive and I COULD still report officially#but a large part of me is really really glad that that mayor is dead. and I don’t ever have to hear him or see him at events or feel his#unusually long weird fingernails and iron grip while telling me to smile for pictures ever again#a part of me would love to confront him#but most of me is just glad he’s gone and can’t scare me or make life hell for my parents ever again#he never should’ve gotten away with all the things he did for so many years. but he did.#now that we’re here in the present. it’s a gift to get to move on from it knowing he’s not still out there at least#he was a gross greedy person with police and government power and never should’ve had those positions for so many decades like he did#but that being said. he can’t ever speak to or touch me again.#I’m not grateful now. I wasn’t grateful then after he stopped pretending either. but I’m glad I get to walk away and never live near#any subdivision or building or anything else with his name or picture#ever again. and he’s never able to touch another child ever. good riddance. you gross greedy poor excuse for a public servant.#now I’m gonna go try to write some of what I’ve learned into a fic to help my future self and others#who do you think came out on top at the end of the day mayor L?#I came out of this with friends and kindness and gentleness and healthy rage. you died just as greedy and fake and paranoid as you lived.#I hope you got better towards the end. for your wife and family’s sake.#I get to protect others from people like you for the rest of my life. and I’ll win.#because I deserve it and every current kid deserves it too.#shh katie

making videos and streaming is like. really really hard. and i wish more ppl recognized that it takes time to learn. not only do you need to learn to record video and audio as well as edit and mix it you have to also be really good at speaking on mic and camera. if you're streaming you can't have dead air and long pauses and you can't rely on scripts so you have to adlib it for the most part. if you're gaming you cant have long pauses where you're reading or trying to think without talking it out with your audience. and more
some people i think believe streaming and making videos only relies on expensive equipment like video editing software, expensive computers, cameras, vtuber models, and mics. but a lot of the time its having a good speaking voice and being able to present things and those are skills you need to hone not things you are innately born with.

in one of our modules a few weeks back, we learned about some common obstacles to active listening and it brought up an interesting statistic about why it is so easy for our minds to wander when people talk to us
the average person can understand approximately 300 words a minute, but the average person speaks approximately 100 words a minute. we listen faster than we talk.
