Thoughts on C3EP77 of CR (I hyperfixate on imodna constantly, but I swear that I talk about the rest of the characters as well)

Delilah fucking briarwood. It has not gone past me that we got to have this great laudna moment on the same ep where they announced the book. WHICH I AM SO FUCKING EXCITED ABOUT.

Imodna will never not be iconic in the middle of a fight. That one moment when laudna was being cornered by the ghosts, and she kept going back and forth between acting like Delilah and pleading for them to understand that she wasn’t the one they were after, to finally Imogen killing two of them, and as they vanished, her gaze was finally visible to laudna as the cloud of smoke dissipated and she told her that it would be alright, only for laudna to lash out once again and unleash her attacks on the rest of them. Chef’s kiss. What a scene.

Imogen calling Delilah Briarwood a bitch will never get old.

Laudna making Imogen promise her to move on and be happy if she died- I can’t. My sweet farm girl was so heartbroken the entire episode. THERE WAS ONE MOMENT TOO, when orym was talking about missing Will every day, and how he would want him to live and be happy, and Imogen was just like 😣. She needs a hug. Someone has to give her a hug

FEARNE FINALLY KNOWS ABOUT IMODNA. The moment that laudna said “she makes me so happy!” I literally fell to my knees.

Fearne’s soft little “you are??” After Orym said that he was so glad that she was there with them broke me into a million pieces. Ashley Johnson you’re an ✨actress✨

Laura deciding to end imodna, not because of the moon, not because of the gods, or Delilah briarwood, but because marisha made a bad vex impression. I respect it.

Ashton. It’s just so funny because Imogen was so hesitant about it all the entire way, but she had the circlet. She wasn’t inside Ashton’s head so he got away with it. Marisha’s innocent “what is happening?” To then being explained Ashton’s plan and saying “you’re gonna die” so incredulous, so sad, and everyone’s face after she said that. My heart started speeding up. Just what the actual fuck. The way he treated fearne… I will not be ok with him for a while because of that. He almost killed himself, he almost killed them all. They just burned a bunch of spells and potions and they’re going to the moon… honestly, I don’t think I’ve been this stressed since laudna’s resurrection

It’s just so… Ashton advocating for down time, so that they could remind themselves that they loved each other before anyone did anything stupid… I EXPECTED SOMETHING BUT I DID NOT EXPECT THIS

I read it with my sister out loud and she keeps on reminding herself about how raven is gonna give everyone the choice to rebel and how soon this will all be a bad dream for Ashlynn that'll end but I told her to FORGET THAT FOR NOW AND JUST INDULGE IN THE ANGGGGGSTTTTTT❗❗❗❗

WEAKLING❗❗❗❗ (don't worry sis I'm joking I'm also really fucking afraid)

Actually, I reread the entirety of the fic so far out loud to my sister and I've made sure she's just as invested as I am!!!! We're having so much fun!!!!!!!! AND YOUR WRITING IS SOOO GOOOD

BUT ANYWAY, back to the chapter at hand.

I didn't expect Ashlynn to be the pov character this chapter but WOWWW IT WAS A PLEASANT SURPRISE.

The character you established with her is WAY MORE MEMORABLE THAN WHAT THEY DID WITH HER IN THE SHOW. SHE WAS AROUND IN THE FIRST AND SECOND SEASONS BUT EVENTUALLY, SHE STOPPED TRULY DEVELOPING AFTER TRUE HEARTS DAY. WHICH UPSETS ME.

YOU.... MADE HER SO MUCH MORE ENGAGING. With her TRYING SO HARD to rationalize this destiny shit, like, not wanting for her mom to go away, and not wanting to break away from hunter, but still feeling obliged to fulfill her destiny because of tradition, and being so confused, and scared, and conflicted with what she wants. I feel horrible for her.

But on another note, I love how much more present her magic touch of being able to speak to animals was!!! I have a feeling understanding animals had made her into a very kind, soft, and caring person. (Which I love her for) EAH has a problem with not utilizing their characters talents completely and just, having a graveyard of characters with so much wasted potential, so I LOVE the attention to detail in your fic so far!!!!!!!

Ashlynn and her mom make me so sad lol like,,, WOW CINDER REALLY WAS THE ONLY MOM WHO CARED ENOUGH ABOUT HER DAUGHTER TO DROP HER OFF AT SCHOOL WITH A GOOD WORD. LIKE "I LOVE YOU" (STARES DAGGERS AND SNOW WHITE AND EVIL QUEEN)

AND SHE'S THE ONE WHO'S DESTINED TO DIE EARLY?!?!?? Life's unfair man.

And her words make it sounds like she's definitely had a lot of time to make sense of the entire Cinderella destiny, just to soften the blow of fulfilling such a heavy destiny. Convincing herself it's for the greater good, and sacrificing personal comfort for the good of the system.

This is gonna be a recurring theme isn't it?

I LOVE THE WAY YOU WRITE ASHLYNN AND HUNTER SO FAR. IT ALSO HURTS ME A LOT. WHICH JUST PROVES MY POINT OF YOU WRITING THEM WELL.

You can tell just how much they care about each other, and hunter specifically being more worried about Ashlynn cause he understands how big her destiny is. And of the anxiety it must cause Ashlynn.

I really hope only for the best for them in the future. Their so sweet and they love each other so much, they deserve only good things.

I hope we get to see more of Hunter somehow!!! I hope you have something planned for him, even if just a little bit. What family issues does HE HAVE. We know he does from the books!!!

Briar and Apple appeared near the end!!! Briar makes me sad after 30 seconds. But she's so so cool. I LOVE HER DYNAMIC WITH ASHLYNN.

AND ACTUALLY. I'M JUST GLAD THE ICONIC TRIO ARE TOGETHER!!!!!! They were always so funny together, and I'm glad we're seeing more of their dynamic here!!!

I showed Apple what I have but she keeps saying it’s ‘a little too much’.” “So, she hates it,” Ashlynn translated. “She hates it,” Briar confirmed, pulling her along. “But I swear, the whole thing is fine, she’s just being uptight because it’s Legacy Year. I need an actual second opinion, plus you can pick out my shoes!”

BUT I'M ALSO SCARED ABOUT THEIR FRIENDSHIP.

Apple already seems to be acting really weird with them cause it's legacy year.

The three of them clearly have different priorities this legacy year.

Ashlynn wants to somehow fulfill her destiny without the pain of losing two important people from her life.

Apple wants to fulfill her destiny in the most perfect way possible cause she's made to believe that's all she needs to prove her worth to everyone and her mother. And then she'll finally achieve peace. (Even though we all know she's playing a game she'll never win)

And Briar is desperately trying to distract herself from her impending doom. My poor girl. She's probably a bigger mess than most people would expect!

At the end of the chapter, we finally get a small piece of proof that signing your destiny could ever POSSIBLY BE GOOD. IN ANY WAY. wow. So these small things are the reason royals stay royals huh? That and the life-long suffocating pressure from everyone around them to conform and do as what's expected of them.

Finished Metroid Dread... Spoiler thoughts ahead;

I must say that I LOVE and admire how Mercury Steam didn’t go for nostalgia bait here. With how Metroid hasn’t had a new mainline entry (not counting remakes) in over a decade, it’d have been easy to do a soft reboot with Dread, ignoring the continuity and status quo changes from Fusion!

They could’ve easily appealed to the mainstream understanding of Metroid, with Samus and her Varia Suit, Ridley, the Metroids, etc.! They could’ve brushed aside continuity to make the game more accessible to a mainstream audience for cash... But no!

Mercury Steam chose to reward long-time fans! They didn’t abandon the X-Parasites, and brought them back in full, modern, 3-D glory! They had Samus take cues from the Fusion suit, and kept the idea of her having Metroid DNA, with basically the entire plot hinging around this detail!

A retcon, sure- But it’s a retcon that literally everyone in the fandom has preferred, since day one! It’s a lot cooler, plus it’s very meta- Samus is mistaken as ‘Metroid’, but now she is! And in a way, this allows the series to still continue with that iconic title... Because Samus is officially a Metroid herself, the writers don’t need to pull up some complicated excuse to rehash and resurrect the Metroids!

That’s really fun and clever writing... Again, I appreciate that Mercury Steam went right to resuming business with Dread. You could argue Samus Returns was the reintroduction meant to settle newer fans into the franchise, fair... But nevertheless, they set out to make a new installment for the Metroid series, a new story with its own identity and unique setting, bosses, etc.! While STILL playing homage and even modernizing the classics in a way that feels fun and inventful, instead of just nostalgia bait and brand recognition as a crutch!

Lemme tell you, Samus in her Metroid Suit... A dream come true for literally everyone in this fandom, we ALL wanted to see monster Samus and we got her! Down to the arm cannon having fangs around the nozzle! When her claws appeared, I freaked... And that twist with ‘Adam’ having been Raven Beak all along, guiding the player in a truly brutal and threatening gauntlet he’d prepared for Samus, just to unlock the power of her DNA!

I’m honestly proud of myself for guessing that Raven Beak wanted to clone Samus, as a superior Metroid to the Omega or Queen- Thats good storytelling when the clues are laid out and you can guess things! Likewise, the way the developers make full use of the backgrounds to flesh out the worlds...

I truly found myself stopping and staring to enjoy the gorgeous ambiance! Ferenia was particularly beautiful, and I love how Mercury Steam put in the effort to add stairs and other logistical details, so that when you looked at the levels from a 3-D perspective, the architecture made some sense!

Plus, this is everything I wanted to see in terms of worlds- Environmental storytelling to the max, making fun usage of wreckage in the background, telling a past! Incorporating the environment and background into the gameplay, letting you interact with and change it... That moment when you see what looks like a Corpius being operated upon, it legit made my jaw drop as I hung around to stare and process...

Plus, the fun ways they diversify the modes of travel, between shuttles, elevators, teleportals (love that pun)! And I love how the foreshadowing helped me pick up that Elun was where the X were quarantined, right before I actually saw them!

The combat in this game is fast and snappy and responsive, and against the Mawkin, it truly does feel almost like a dance of death- Harsh yet fair, so that when you do succeed, you feel truly precise and skilled! The Flash-Shift is one of the best additions to this franchise, without a doubt!

Overall, just... A phenomenal game! It truly blew my expectations out of the water, and the ending still leaves plenty room for more adventures! Metroid Dread is truly a worthy next entry for the franchise, and I would say makes up for the incredible hiatus fans had to go through since Fusion!

• So many of the "what is exy" "stickball game??" "dont even bother explaining to me what is the sport they play I dont care I'm just here for neil." And related comments get a liked from creator (andrew told nicky to like them)

•The "Oh my god she's coming." "I'm so afraid of her." Audio are the twinyards and nicky shows up, he had to bribe them to be a part of that one.

• They post another version but it's Kevin that enters and Allison and Nicky talking

• So many comments thirsting over them and calling matt and dan parents

• Someone makes a 'put a finger down: Neil Josten edition' and nicky drags him to do it. They both smile as they listen to the prompts and Neil obviously puts all his fingers down but they're like "put a finger down if you clapbacked/if you bad mouthed someone (bonus points if it was on national tv)" "put a finger down if you're under 6 feet" "put a finger down if you love exy" and the last one just says "put a finger down if andrew minyard." Neil does and smiles at someone off camera. Needless to say it goes viral as well. A few weeks after nicky gets verified.

• Allison becomes friends with thenavarose and wisdom sorry I dont make the rules (they're fashion tiktokers)

• They make a series of rating each of the foxes throughout the day, including one of Wymack.

• They do receive bad comments, from bitter ravens fans or just recalling their pasts and nicky sits down and makes a video telling everyone about how they do this videos for fun they dont need hate and negative comments on their videos and all that

• Then another one posted minutes after, neil comes in and nicky says "okay neil you have one minute. Rant off." And neil goes on this rant like how they already hit Rock bottom a single comment is not gonna hurt them and "do you get how insignificant and meaningless your lives must be? You took the time to write and post a comment that you thought was gonna cause an impact and failed. Also thanks for the comments though it helps nicky stay on the algorithm." NICKY SCREECHES AND THE VIDEO ENDS WITH THEM SMILING

• Allison vlogs neil and her going shopping or thrifting also cutting Neil's hair

• *neil walks into the room wearing his orange bandana* *camera moves and zooms on Andrew's face* he doesnt lip sync but the song sings "oh noo I think I'm catching feelings" andrew tells him to delete it "but it already has thousands of likes andrew"

• They post some of their work out routines per request

• One of them is the fast and "I'm spinning like a ballerina" chill of neil just running on the treadmill and doing sprints and squats and leg stuff while it cuts to allison doing a bit of everything but looking like a queen on a matching set.

• A fun one that goes viral for "vine energy" is: it's very quiet on the court and Kevin, very in the zone, throws the ball to the goal, which Andre's catches easily and almost without moving. The camera goes back to kevin as he screeches and let's himself fall on the ground. Neil is standing beside him shaking his head and looking at the goal with a smile on his face.

• They try to teach neil the dances but while filming one of them he just leaves. They post it either way.

• They're in the bus, nicky is on selfie mode and says "it is game day my dudes" he turns and shows the whole bus S C R E A M S, in the corner Wymack is covering his face.

• The iconic "they say drunk thoughts are sober words" or something like that and it cuts to a series of videos of the foxes drunk af. Example: Nicky grabbing Allison's face and saying 'Remember. Bread. Head. Leave.' And allison nodding.

• Nicky films kevin standing up and put the "do you ever wonder what is going on inside their head?" And it cuts to pictures of racquets and exy and Jeremy Knox and one that says history stuff.

• Another one that goes viral is kevin very seriously and p e r f o r m i n g, rapping Jefferson's side of the cabinet battle #1 from Hamilton then towards the end andrew stands up in front of him and with his iconic bored expression he starts rapping Hamilton's part. Behind the camera there's a soft "...oh my gOD" and kevin is shocked eyes widen open and then the camera zooms on Neil who's mouth is open in shock but GRINNING and ~impressed~

Re: your tag on that gifset, what would you say your favorite Lilith outfits are? :)

Okay, so now you’ve made me want to make a GIF set of every single one of Lilith’s outfits. 

But for now I’ll just tell you my favourites. In no particular order we have:

1. The Red Dress and Leather Trench Ensemble. Complete with Jimmy Choos.

I love this red dress in general, but when it’s with the black leather trench, it’s just peak Lilith, and not just because she’s wearing the two colours associated with the deity/spirit Lilith. It’s just it’s a mixture of soft (with the velvety-esque dress) and badass (with the leather coat) with passion (with the red) and darkness (with the black). And she looks fabulous.

2. The Iconic Black and Green Satin Nightgown

Again, peak Lilith. The materials are soft, but the design is sensual, and the colours are all very serpentine, which is a nice Eden reference. 

3. Autumn Leaves and Brown Bolero Number

Probably not a popular favourite but it’s also apparently one of Lilith’s favourites too as she wears it in several different episodes. It’s just it’s such a typically Mary outfit yet you can see how differently Lilith is wearing it. I just love the leaves on this, the bolero, the way it fits...it’s a perfect example of Lilith can be dressed as soft and low-key as possible and still come in like a boss ass bitch and be sexy af too. Power comes from within?

4. The One Pair of Trousers She Wore!

I love this outfit so much! I just love the style in general, but I love that it’s the first and only time we see Lilith in trousers (with the exception of the Resistance verse where she wears this outfit again) and it just says a lot about how comfortable Lilith is feeling and how like herself. I also love the wee leather gloves.

5. The Coronation Dress

Okay, yet again  we’re getting to see LIlith’s colours of red and black, which I love, especially as she crowns herself in this dress, but I love the burgundy of it, I love the collar and neckline, I freaking adore the black beading, and (even though you can’t see it on this shot) the way the hem falls too. It’s such an modernised-late-Edwardian-early-1920s type dress and I live for that sort of inspiration. It is definitely a dress for a ball. And it looks pulled back enough for Lucifer to see it as a servant’s dress, but it’s detailed and intricate enough for Lilith and everyone else to know it’s a coronation dress. For Lilith’s coronation. 

6. Queen’s Dress

This definitely looked like a Queen of Hell’s dress and I loved that it was blue rather than gold like the rest of Hell. I love the beading, and I loved how great the colour looked on her. I just felt this dress very clearly made it clear Lilith is a Queen and that she fits in that roll very well. And I am a sucker for iridescent embroidery. 

7. The Dress from Tommy Kinkle’s Funeral

She wears this several times in the series, the first is at Tommy Kinkle’s funeral, but this was the best shot I could find of it. But I love how this fits, I love the strong implication this is the one outfit she actually fucking stole from Mary’s wardrobe (the red one and the other black one feel like they’re Lilith’s dresses originally), and I just loved how badass she looked arriving at the funeral. This is an outfit that says I can look like a professional uptight business lady but you know I could kill you on sight. She even looks badass wearing it when she comes down the stairs in Hell with Pontius Pilate’s bowl. It’s just one of those outfits that looks so nothing but Lilith makes it everything. 

8. The Dress from Sabrina Morningstar’s Wedding

Again, I suspect this isn’t a popular favourite. But I love that it was a halterneck essentially, I loved the fringe beading and I loved that it was clearly designed to draw attention to the fact she’s pregnant (something I feel Lilith did to remind everyone of her position of power), but I love that it also is low effort enough to show she’s really not into this fucking wedding. I just...it looks like an oddly casual Lilith in a way we never really see her in Hell. Which I enjoy

9. Pregnancy Dress

One of my absolute faves. I love the colour, I love the cut, I love the neckline, I love the cape, I love the skeletal hands, I love all of it. This was peak Hell Lilith. And it’s such a crying shame that we only get it very briefly once and that for the majority of it, she’s going through the forced labour. It was a glorious dress and it hung so nicely

10. The Red Animal Print Dress

And last but CERTAINLY not least, this glorious, glorious dress that we got to see so often in Part 4 and ensured Lilith looked fantastic even when she was suffering in agonising grief, because this dress was just chef’s kiss. Again, it’s the Lilith colours of black and red, it’s also the animal print, the fur trim both serving as comforting baby holder, whilst also mimicking raven wings when she raises her arms, the button-up front for both style and comfort, the beautiful neckline. It was perfect. And I’d like to say it’s my number one favourite but I don’t like to commit haha,

good this was hard because every raven moment is iconic but in the end, top five that I remember right now, in no particular order,

she was so beautiful in this entire issue and the writing was good but this bit in particular actually destroys me because I'm drawn to kind characters and my girl's kindness is so innate I could cry

this is honestly just a cute moment between my faves and it makes me happy (we're gonna ignore the whole love triangle context here sbhshsjs)

3)

raven goes to a funeral to ease everyone's gried, ICONIC moment legends only, also this look was really good on her and lives in my mind, probably because I look bad in horizontal stripes

Good Deeds, Bad Feelings (Chpt 1)

Chapter one of my Vil/Idia fic is here for all of you to read! I hope you enjoy and please tell me what you think of it in the comments!

Summary: Life at NRC is about as calm as it can get. Azul Ashengrotto is carrying on about his day when the boyfriend of his best friend offers him an indecent proposal.

      The soft twinkle of the piano and the careful steps of the dancer were the only sounds in the studio. Vil took two quick steps and went up on his toes, balancing carefully. He raised his arms above his head and lowered them with grace. He spun three times and leaped. As soon as he landed, Vil knew something was wrong.

       Vil practically collapsed onto the ground with a quiet thud. He sat up and examined his left ankle, which now throbbed horribly. He attempted to stand back up, but stopped and winced. The classical music in the background continued while the queen of Pomfiore examined his current situation. He could either slide himself across the floor to his work out bag and grab his phone to call for help, or he could attempt to stand up again and hobble to the Nurse's Office. Either way, Vil's dignity would take a blow. He remembered that he hadn't shut the door to the dance studio all the way, meaning that someone could walk in and see him sprawled out on the floor.

       Vil went with the first option. He dug his palms into the wood and slid himself to his purple duffel bag and grabbed his phone. He stopped the music and looked through his contacts for someone who could discreetly take him to get help.

       "Vil-Senpai, is that you?" A melodic voice called from the door. Vil dropped his phone and spun his head around. Azul, the second year dorm head of Octavinelle, stood in the doorway with a concerned expression.

       "It's nothing." Vil flashed a smile. "Just taking a small break, that's all."

      "A break that caused you to drag yourself across the floor?" Azul leaned against the door frame. If he was in his dorm uniform, Vil had no doubt that he would have tipped his hat and chuckled. Azul stepped into the room and made his way to Vil, kneeling before his upperclassman. "Are you in need of assistance, Senpai?"

       Vil shook his head and made a move to stand up, but the throbbing in his ankle worsened. He grimaced and sat back down on the floor. "A word about this and I can ruin you, Ashengrotto."

       Azul smiled and held up his right hand. "Merman's honor."

      He slid off Vil's ballet slipper and examined the now swollen joint. "Tsk tsk tsk. I'm not a dancer, but I believe I can see what happened here. May I?"

       He lifted Vil's leg and gently pressed his thumbs into Vil's ankle. The third year raised his eyebrows. "How do you know how to do that? Rook is professionally trained and he takes a while to find the cause of the swelling."

       "I had to learn." Azul continued to massage Vil's ankle. "When I first came above water, I twisted my ankle every which way. I didn't have the natural grace that you do, Senpai. To make up for it, I taught myself how to massage the various joints on human legs. It's very useful when Floyd hurts himself when he dances or when Jade falls off a broom."

      Vil nodded. This was something new to him, why would a merman know how to massage legs? Vil supposed that the Octavinelle leaders would always keep him on his toes, pun intended. Vil's phone rang, an ID by the name of "Fire Hose" flashed across the screen. Azul saw the contact name and snorted, almost dropping Vil's foot.

       "Forgive me, Senpai, but do you have Idia-Senpai saved on your phone as 'Fire Hose'?" Azul pressed his lips together to keep from laughing.

       Vil answered the call with a frown. "Yes, Idia?"

       Azul continued to work on Vil's ankle while the blonde man chatted away about homework.

       "Yes, I got the papers."

       "Yes, Idia, I will drop them off."

       "No, I didn't get the extra credit work. Why would I do that?"

       "No, Idia, you don't need to send a drone to get the papers, you dolt."

       "I'm sorry for calling you a dolt, I didn't mean it."

      Azul hummed to himself as he finished. "There you go, Vil-Senpai. Put some ice on it and the swelling should be down by your last class of the day. If I may recommend, you can stop by the Lounge later today to get a nice relaxing drink to sooth any pain you may feel."

       He helped Vil to his feet as he hung up on Idia. "Thank you, Azul, I must have a way to repay you."

       Azul thought for a second. He opened his mouth, but not before Vil stopped him. "No deals."

       "Alright then, how about I ask why you are dropping off Idia's homework in person?" His eyes had a devilish look.

       Vil huffed and put his weight on his good foot to pick up his bag. "Isn't that what friends do?"

      "Well seeing that I'm Idia's best friend, I do find this a bit peculiar. It couldn't have anything to do with the fact that Idia recently told me that he's ready to come out of the closet."

      The upperclassman's cheeks were tinted pink as he began to leave the dance studio. "That's none of your business, Azul." He said proudly. "Besides, I'm sure that you're already aware of the situation."

      Yes, Azul did know of Vil and Idia's relationship. The two third years had been together for a little over a year now, but it was probably one of the largest secrets at Night Raven College. Idia's infamous insecurities and Vil's iconic vanity didn't go together when you added on the fact that while Vil was openly Pansexual, Idia was so deep in the closet that he was in Narnia. And yet, to the surprise of the few who knew of this secret, they managed to stay together. If Azul was one for irony, he'd call it a magic miracle.

       Of course, irony always seemed to bite Azul in the ass in the worst possible ways.

JUDGING RANDOMISED MONSTER HIGH/EVER AFTER HIGH SHIPS

Last night I had no internet, so I put the names of 16 MH characters and 16 EAH characters in a hat, shook it around a little and then produced all the names into 16 ships. I will then be ranking them (and maybe adding a couple of headcanons and such because this is mY POST).

Put under the cut because of how long it is.

1.       Raven Queen x Hopper Croakington

Not one I expected for this and honestly, I can’t think of anything for them. They seem like the kind of ones to have gone on one date before Raven decided she doesn’t have time to deal with his inability to talk to her and constant simping over Briar.

3/10. Barely any vibes, let alone good or bad vibes :/

 2.       Frankie Stein x Sirena Von Boo

This one could be cute, Frankie tutoring Sirena in Mad Science and both of them slowly getting crushes on each other, though Sirena not wanting to break the bro code of not dating your friend’s ex. Both have such drastically different dumbass energies and I love it.

6/10. I can see this being a cute little relationship.

 3.       Johnny Spirit x Cerise Hood

Oh damn. Needless to say, Cerise would not take any of Johnny’s shit, perceived bad boy or not. I feel like they are both drastically different when they get into relationships, with Johnny being the type to make big romantic gestures, whereas Cerise is all about the small details. They would probably be p good for each other.

8/10. This is honestly really cute tbh.

 4.       Briar Beauty x Andy Beast

This could be funny, an opposites attract sort of situation. Briar being the extroverted thrill seeker she is, whereas Andy being a more socially awkward technologically-behind guy. I can see Briar sitting with Andy and showing him how to use various different types of teach, and Andy talking to Briar about Skull Shores and carrying her to bed when she inevitably falls asleep around him.

9/10. The Vibes are toit.

 5.       Daring Charming x Gigi Grant

First of all, Gigi deserves better so let’s jot that the fuck down. And I can’t really see her getting along with Daring, who would 100% try and use her for selfish wishes.

0/10. The vibes are rancid.

 6.       Faybelle Thorn x Clawd Wolf

Clawd does not deserve this. Faybelle would use his trusting nature and loyalty to her benefit and then dump him when his usefulness had stopped, smh. She needs to be called out on her shit.

 7.       Cedar Wood x Porter Geiss

YEEEEEEEES. The vibes on this are so fucking good. Just- the duo meeting because Porter’s doing some stupid shit and accidentally knocks her art supplies down and then they get started talking on art. They would 100% have dates which is just the both of them painting each other and talking and being wholesome. Porter has her back whenever she may need help and will knock anybody out who insults his beautiful girlfriend. He is the personification of that one Will Smith picture where he’s showing off his wife.

 8.       C.A. Cupid x Deuce Gorgon

Probably happens in a verse where he and Cleo aren’t a thing. Just talking about Greek shit™ together. The softest fucking dates. Both of them would be so fucking devoted in a relationship. I see them more as friends, but even that potential was wasted.

4/10. I can’t see them as a couple too much, but 10/10 friends.

 9.       Draculaura x Chase Redford.

Okay these two would be adorable, even if just aesthetically. Chase being a soft dumbass who is constantly in awe of his tiny vamp gf. She doesn’t always understand all the rules that are put in place, but she thinks it’s cute he’s so passionate about them.

7/10. Adorable

 10.   Alistair Wonderland x Vandala Doubloons.

Adventure buddies to lovers. Alistair showing Vandala around Wonderland and generally helping her trust solids, let alone humans more. They would probably develop a lot of inside jokes nobody else would get. Vandala teaching Alistair to swordfight for that romantic tension. Dumbasses who just love adventure and accidentally fell in love along the way.

9/10. Pretty hecking sweet.

11.   Hunter Huntsman x Duchess Swan

Unless it’s some sort of Rivals to friends to lovers it wouldn’t happen. They might be interesting with the dichotomy of hunter / animal that can often be hunted. Hunter would probably have his work cut out making Duchess a semi-decent person.

6/10. Sweet concept but I can’t see it from where they are in the series.

 12.   Operetta x Darling Charming

Strong independent lady musician x Strong independent lady knight. I LOVE IT. They would be such an iconic power couple and honestly, we stan. Operetta taking no shite from the Charming family about what a woman should or shouldn’t be and setting them in their places. I adooooore this.

10/10. It’s amazing.

 13.   Maddie Hatter x Venus McFlytrap

Venus would be dumbfounded by most of the shit Maddie says, but probably would appreciate the help that Maddie could and likely would provide for the cause of preserving the flora of the planet. She’d likely love to hear about Wonderland and the plants there.

7/10. Good vibes.

 14.   Heath Burns x Dexter Charming

Awkward nerd x extroverted dumbass is an amazing trope. Heath and Dexter becoming flustered dumbasses around one another, but not realising as all their friends try and explain that they like each other. Heath would 100% be the one to confess first because it’s Heath™. Just… soft, stupid dumbasses.

8/10. Good bois. I’m lov.

 15.   Cleo deNile x Lizzie Hearts.

UTTER POWER COUPLE. The energy these girls have together is wonderful. Two powerful princesses who would utterly rule wherever they saw fit. Someone tries to insult Lizzie, they get roasted to filth by Cleo and if they try anything with Lizzie? Off with their head. They are both so sweet towards each other, with Lizzie making outfits for Cleo whenever she asks for it and Cleo being down to model for her girlfriend whenever she asks. They’re both so in love and soft for each other, though may have a couple of fights because they both have such strong personalities, though would always make it out the other end stronger for it

I can’t really see this one, I can see them maybe being friends but… anything beyond that isn’t really.

Cassandra had a kinship with Joan of Arc. Now Rapunzel had that too.

She thought of that as her executioner raised his torch.

He did not have the chance to set her pyre alight, for a clamor resounded in the distance – the shouts, bellows and consternation of men before the trampling of hooves.

Men scattered before the flash of armor in the sun, brilliant and blinding – before the glint of sword-steel, Fidella’s whinnies drowning out their cries.

For the horse was Fidella – chestnut-brown, dark mane braided like a warrior-queen of old – and upon her back, Cassandra – Cassandra, looking so like Joan, but not like Joan at the end, like Joan in victory, Joan in glory.

Cassandra wore no helm, so that any who dared advance upon her might see her face before she cut them down. The sunlight flooded behind her, making her raven hair to gleam. Guardsmen armed with swords as stern as her own gathered around her, armed with spears they hurled in a great wave that lanced upon her shield. Fidella continued to charge forward, routing them, sending them reeling – and still some, undaunted, approached again.

Cassandra swung at them deftly, smote them with her sword. One got close, attempting to hew at Fidella; the horse kicked him down. Another neared, eyes glaring before Cassandra’s face – she bludgeoned him with her sword-hilt, knocked him backward, and rode on.

By now, the executioner had thrown down his torch and fled. Still, it sputtered upon the ground, dangerously close to the piles of wood. Rapunzel’s eyes darted downward repeatedly, fixed on every stray spark. But she had more immediate perils. One man, fanatical in his zeal, lunged for the torch to finish the fiery work. He was dead before his fingers grasped it. Cassandra threw her sword with elegant precision so that it found his back as an archer’s arrow finds its target.

The marveling crowd parted for her. She drew her sword from the lifeless body and, with it, cut Rapunzel’s bonds.

Rapunzel threw herself upon Fidella, wrapping her arms around Cassandra tightly, holding her close, knowing she was real but wanting to be sure, wanting to be sure this was not some taunting vision before the flames consumed her.

“Eugene, is he –”

“He’s alive.”

Rapunzel’s head fell forward like a dying woman’s – and yet she was alive. In the perfect mirror of Cassandra’s pauldron, she saw her haggard face – wax-soft and curtained by limp brown hair, wax-soft as an icon about to melt.

Cassandra’s armor was cool as the press of ice upon a feverish brow – soothing after the prospect of the fire.

Rapunzel shut her eyes and breathed.

The crowd looked on them in wonder and let them pass.

They rode until the came to a balmy meadow, and it was then that Rapunzel felt the strength to raise her eyes again. And when she did, she realized there was a dampness upon her hands – and that the dampness was blood.

Panic seized her. No, she wasn’t going to lose Cass. Not again. Not this time.

She must have been stammering desperately aloud, for Cass murmured, “I’m fine, Raps. I’m fine.”

“No, you’re not! Stop – Stop Fidella now.”

Cass had no choice but to obey.

It was a small cut in Cassandra’s side – from sword or dagger. How it slipped through the plate armor, Rapunzel did not know – but Cass had been up against many adversaries, some of whom had gotten closer than others.

It was only a small cut, the kind Cass could withstand easily. But any cut at all – any chance of losing Cass – again –

Rapunzel tore a shred from the prison-garb in which she was still attired and bandaged the cut with it.

“I’m sorry, I know it’s not enough, I –”

Cassandra hugged her – hugged her as tightly as Rapunzel had clung to Cass when riding out of Corona.

“It’s so much, Raps. So much.”

Rapunzel broke down crying in Cassandra’s arms and Cassandra held her, murmuring I love you and I’m here over and over again.

When the tears had stopped, Cass caressed Rapunzel’s face – caressed it and brought it close and kissed her – and this time, the kiss did not taste of blood but of the sweetest of fruits, a peach-soft kiss, a kiss to savor…

And when they broke the kiss, Cass spoke softly:

“You’ve done so much, Raps. You’ve seen so much. You can rest.”

Rapunzel smiled feebly. “So can you…”

“We all can. We all shall.”

They rode on.

They rode on and in time they were riding through a fertile valley. Lush green, it was, and scattered with the loveliest of flowers. They rode amid the emerald slopes until they passed under the curtain of a waterfall. The cavern beyond was drier than Rapunzel expected, illumined by the sunbeams passing through the glittering water. The fall hung like a veil from an antique land or like threaded jewels, casting a rainbow-halo.

It would have been exquisitely serene were it not for the rancid odor emanating from above.

“Welcome – to the – queen of beggars,” drawled an unmistakably slurred voice. Shorty was dangling by his toes from a crag overhead – the perfect position to place a colorful paper crown on Rapunzel’s head. He then fell and fortuitously landed into a stewpot nearby, much to the chagrin of –

“Eugene!”

She leapt off Fidella and ran to him. His arm was in a sling, so she had to hug him delicately, but in the delicateness of that hug was love beyond words. And when Cass placed a hand on Rapunzel’s shoulder in tenderness, the radiance of that love shone brighter than the sun through the veil of the water, brighter than the rainbow of love dancing around them both.

And on Eugene’s shoulder, shifting colors gleefully with the rainbow haze around them, was Pascal – and Rapunzel felt her heart was close to bursting with joy.

Shorty gave a thumbs up from the stewpot, then commented that it needed more salt. Precisely how he had gotten to their refuge was anyone’s guess, but he had a habit of popping up places, and his wildness was a welcome distraction from the worse wildness of the world.

They were an odd sort of family in that cavern, but a lovely little one. And as the scars began to heal, Rapunzel began to paint again. And the first thing she painted was a beautiful knight and queen riding a fair steed away from a pyre – a work of art as lovely as any artist’s depiction of Lancelot and Guinevere…
