driver!reader crashing and lando's entire world ending
Warnings: Angst...just pure angst
It was practice 2, the weather was lovely. Warm weather, but not to the point it was humid, just that nice warm that made you want to be outside all day.
Lando was watching your practice, as he had already set some pretty good lap times, and didn't need to run again. Standing at the monitors he watched you start your out lap.
"She looks good." Oscar says, smiling as he watches you drive that RedBull with grace. "She always looks good." A slight blush coming to Lando's cheeks.
After 4 years of dating, you'd think Lando wouldn't blush anymore, yet here he was blushing like a teen experiencing his first love. Oscar rolls his eyes, turning them back to the screen.
They hear your radio turn on, alerting your mechanic you were about to start your fast lap. "Go ahead, go ahead." Your mechanic replies and they hear the roar of your engine burst to life past the garages.
"Come on babe, you can do it." Lando whispers playing with the ring on his finger. You two had matching rings, a promise of some sort and you both wore it whenever you weren't racing.
They watch as you set two purple sectors, Lando bouncing around cameras even in his face watching as he becomes so happy. "Yes!" When he sees you make the turn into the 3rd sector.
His ears hear it, before it even happens. The way your engine sputters, you flying through a corner, brakes squealing. It all happens so fast you turn, another car in your way. It was a reflex, you didn't mean to rip the steering wheel the other way.
Lando watches as your car gets a little air, and soon you're flipping through the air, and then hit the gravel, still rolling at a fast rate. The pieces of the car, ripping apart, fans screaming as they duck for cover as gravel and metal coming flying towards them.
"Lando." Oscar's voice was underwater. Lando's hearing ringing as he felt everything slow down. To everyone it happened so fast, but to him he was watching it frame by frame.
"Oh God!" Someone in the garage screamed, everyone was stunned. This was no normal accident. This wasn't Romain's fireball, Max at silverstone, Zhou at silverstone, or even when Max went over Lewis head. No, this was different.
Someone was talking to Lando, but it was just random ringing and muffles to him, all he wanted to hear was your voice. The driver in him knew this wasn't something you could hit your radio and tell everyone you're alright. But, the boyfriend, his feet moved before his brain caught up.
Hands grab at him, someone screaming, so loud, it's a brutal sound like a wounded animal. It all rushes back to him like in a movie when everything goes silent and then slaps you in the face. He was the one screaming.
Cameras shut off, fans being escorted out of paddocks, as Lando screams not making any noise, just raw animalistic screams of a man in a panic. Carlos, Charles, and Max rushing down to the McLaren garage to help Oscar and the other mechanics hold Lando back.
"OH GOD NO! PLEASE NO!" Lando sobs, clawing at Carlos and Max's arms trying to run out onto the track, to your crash. "Lando, stop! You'll just be in the way!" Max roars, shoving him further back into the garage, or at least trying to.
"Y/N! PLEASE DEAR GOD, NOOOO!" Lando screams louder. The echoing of sirens and marshals run around a whirl of red, orange, and white.
Carlos and Max hold Lando tight as he sobs and screams, breaking down easing him to the floor as he just cries into Carlos's chest. "She....oh god she can't Carlos. I can't do this without her." Lando cries, he wasn't a man right now, he was a little boy terrified.
No one says anything, just the sounds of Lando and rescue teams is all that's left on the track.

The Rescue
Wanda Maximoff x Reader
Genre: Fluff (mostly hurt/comfort)
Warnings: Talks of torture and hurting Wanda, nightmares, yelling at Steve, Civil War drama
Word count: 2446
Summary: You rescue Wanda from the Raft
A/N: This was supposed to just be rescuing Wanda from the Raft but I didn't know where to end it so it's a little bit more than that and very fluffy in my opinion 😌 Inspired by this post. Have fun reading and let me know what you think!
Tumblr media
When you found out what happened after the announcement of the accords, to say you were angry was an understatement.
You had to leave before even getting to say your bit on why you wouldn't be signing any paper that had to do with the new contract. Through some gossip from a random agent on the mission you were a part of you found out about how out of control the whole situation had gotten.
As soon as you heard about the splitting of the team and that half of them were imprisoned on the Raft you left your post. You were thankful it was only the debrief left that you would miss, making it easier to approve your own dismissal, not caring how frowned upon it may be seen by your superiors.
It took many hours over several nights to calm Wanda down after the events of Lagos, convincing her she wasn't the bad guy. Even when you tried to explain to her, if it wasn't for her the blast would have been even more deadly and that Steve shouldn't have gotten distracted, she still blamed herself and the lack of control she had over her powers.
"Where is she?" You demand impatiently. After not getting an answer from Sam, you didn't care if he didn't know, you were beyond pissed at him too, you asked Clint, ignoring the new guy, who's name you learned was Scott.
When Clint tells you about his suspicions that Wanda was two floors below your current location you waste no time in getting down there.
You know why she was separated and put on a different floor from the others but it is still infuriating to you. The moment you find out whose decision it was to keep her isolated you would break some skulls. Right now you need to find her and you need to get her safe.
Speeding past empty cell after empty cell, you almost miss her.
Seeing her back facing the glass window separating you makes your heart break, more so when you can see she has been restrained. That, along with the collar around her neck does nothing to calm the adrenaline rushing through your veins.
Using the badge you acquired from a guard you knocked out when you first entered the prison, you easily gain access to the unit.
Wanda doesn't move an inch, making you afraid of what kind of state she is in. Slowly, you approach her, "Wanda?" Even when rounding her body, she still doesn't move. Her eyes are staring at a single spot on the ground.
Your eyebrows furrow in anguish seeing Wanda look so broken. Her sunken eyes and the red marks around her neck from the metal collar has you thinking of a million ways to torture the person who put her here.
Moving in front of her, you crouch down to meet her eye level, but she is frozen in place and your worry for her deepens.
You speak quietly, calmly, "Wanda, I'm going to unbuckle you. Starting with your arms, okay?" You are met with more silence.
Keeping your movements slow you continue to undo the restraints from her body. Seeing her like this makes you want to cry for the empty looking figure before you.
It was bad enough Wanda lost the innocence of her childhood to war, her adolescence and young adult life to regretful decisions and now, she continues to pay the price for the people around her.
You hear rushed footsteps coming from the direction you came. When you look up to the entrance of the cell you see Natasha and Steve. Stretching out your arm, you put your hand up and shake your head to stop them from coming any closer.
Steve taps the watch on his wrist, indicating you need to quicken your pace. The Raft's backup must be on its way. Despite knowing this the action still makes you want to wring Steve's throat, Wanda is here because he got her involved in his fight, shouting at him when you finally found him wasn't enough in your eyes.
There is no time for that now though, you are on your final task and need to concentrate on removing the metal ring from Wanda's neck.
The duo stay at the door keeping an eye out for any movement, letting you give your full attention to the broken woman in front of you.
Just as you have been doing so far, you dictate to Wanda your next move, trying to find a way to unlatch the collar. As your hands get closer to her face it is as if she finally snaps out of her trance grabbing your wrist out of reflex. Her eyes glaze over as if she is seeing you for the first time since you arrived.
"Y/n?" She asks, confused. Flicking between both your eyes trying to figure out if this is real or not.
"It's me, darling." Her grip loosens on you, allowing you to place a palm to her cheek. She leans into the touch a tear escaping her eye as you kiss her forehead, "I need to get this off so we can get you out of here," you whisper to her, afraid that if you talk too loud it may trigger her to panic.
"It hurts," Wanda whimpers, frowning. You feel the burn of tears that want to fill your eyes as well as a twinge in your chest indicating your heart breaking all over again for her.
"I know baby, I know. But we need to be quick, okay?"
She nods her head sluggishly and allows you to lower your hands to the device. The marks peeking out from behind the collar make you screw your face as if you can feel the soreness on your own skin.
You hear Natasha call your name, the urgency is evident in her voice so you quicken your pace while remaining careful.
As you make contact Wanda flinches and her breath hitches. You pause your movements, "It's okay, it's been disabled already. I just need to remove it," you say calmly. Wanda nods and keeps her eyes on you, trying to distract her thoughts about the possibility of getting shocked. She looks at your face full of concentration, two lines between your eyebrows where if it was any other situation she would rub them away.
When you get the collar off you see Wanda's shoulders lower as she releases a breath, "We really need to get out of here, love. Can you stand?" You ask, helping her from the ground.
She stands on shaky legs while you get her to lean her weight on you. Once she is up, you realise Wanda will not be able to make the run to the jet. In one swift movement you pick her up and begin your trek out of there.
With Steve leading the way and Natasha trailing you, the four of you rush towards the quinjet. There are sounds of guards trying to gain entry coming from behind you but you keep your eyes forward. You have every faith in Natasha's abilities to watch your back, the only thing on your mind is getting Wanda to safety.
You hear Natasha fire some shots from her gun when the sounds of a few soldiers make it through but you are already stepping onto the quinjet to even think about turning around to look.
All your attention is on Wanda, sitting her down you kneel in front of her while everyone around you is doing their best in defending and getting the jet ready for flight.
The front of your uniform is damp with her tears from when you carried her and even as the jet flies off Wanda's tears don't stop. Your arms are wrapped securely around her telling her she is okay now and that you will never leave her side ever again.
It is weeks later. Her dark circles have faded, her neck is almost back to its original color but the scars to her mental health will take longer to heal.
Wanda wasn't able to sleep the first few nights. Afraid a guard would wake her up with a shock from their electric baton or maybe banging on the glass not allowing her to sleep. For them it was some fun while working. You are glad you showed no mercy when you took down every one of those guards.
Ever since you arrived at the safe house you were currently in, somewhere in the countryside of Spain, you have been doting on Wanda hand and foot, making sure she was getting better.
As soon as you got the chance you yelled at Steve for including Wanda in his little disagreement with Tony and for not getting her out of that prison cell sooner.
When Natasha tried to stop you from lashing out, you lost it even more, 'No! He needs to hear this!' You shouted in Natasha's direction.
You laid into Steve about the fact that Bucky was safe now but at the cost of his teammates, the people who you considered were a family, but with the way this had all been handled this 'family' was in fact just a ticking time bomb.
It didn't stop there, you told Steve how selfish he acted, putting Clint and Scott under pressure with their families and how they were now dealing with the consequences while he runs off playing a hero. Putting Natasha and Sam on the most wanted list, it didn't matter to you that Nat made the decision on her own because it shouldn't have been something to make in the first place.
'And don't get me started on Tony and his ego!' You finished your rant. If it were possible, steam would have been pouring from your ears.
Since that day they have left the two of you alone. Mostly because you won't let Steve near Wanda. What you did allow was Natasha checking in on you both occasionally.
After about a week there you moved to an isolated house in the fields of Hungary where you have been residing until today.
Steve approaches you in the morning with an envelope, Natasha by his side while you and Wanda are eating cereal. New identities and tickets to get to Norway along with keys to your accommodation are all found in the brown packet.
You nod your head as Steve explains his plan, that is until he continues, "-and when things have settled down or when we need you again, we'll come to get you."
Swallowing the chewed cereal in your mouth harshly, your face is stern, "No." You snarl, teeth pressing together tightly.
Steve is taken aback by your response, a little confused, "What-"
Before he can start again you cut him off, "No, you won't come for us when you need us," you retort. "Wanda and I are done. After a little time in Norway, you won't find us," you conclude, telling them your plan to disappear ambiguously.
Having to watch Wanda suffer through nightmares and flinching at the slightest of noises, you voiced your idea to her. She told you that the thought had crossed her mind but she didn't want to take you away from the job you spent your whole life training for. But for you, Wanda was worth more and meant more than anything else you had ever prepared yourself for in the past.
It was a decision you and Wanda finalised days ago, sick of getting your hands dirty for other people. It was time you thought of yourselves and the life you wanted to build together.
Steve sighs and looks down, you know he would do the same if he could. He looks over the two of you and nods his head, understandingly.
The rest of the day passes by with you all packing your things ready to leave before nightfall. You have butterflies in your stomach when you realise this will be your toughest mission yet; trying to live a normal life. Your nerves are settled whenever you look over at Wanda doing minor tasks, a soft smile gracing her face when she catches your eyes lingering, reminding yourself that everything you have done has led you to her and she is the best thing to have ever happened to you. Despite your rocky start when she warped your mind.
As you hug Steve and Natasha goodbye everything feels very real, saying goodbye to the two people who you consider your closest family after practically growing up with them. There would never be any hard feelings against them, just tough decisions to make.
The nervous feeling is back in your stomach until Wanda takes hold of your hand while you wait for the jet to land. You wave one last time to the people you are leaving behind and take your first steps on the vehicle into your new life.
Two years. That is how long you and Wanda have been moving from place to place. From Denmark and Poland to Cyprus and Egypt, you were making your way around.
Now, you have settled in a little town in Edinburgh which, if you were being honest with yourself, you could see yourself raising a family here.
It is cold compared to some of the places you have been in the time you two have been separated from the Avengers but it is cosy and because of the rain you have found yourself inside snoozing the day away.
Your head is resting in Wanda's lap as she reads a book. When you wake up and see Wanda still reading you smile lazily as you stretch. Noticing your movements Wanda puts down the book on the coffee table with her other hand still on your head.
Her fingers thread through your hair and you hum in content, "Morning sleepyhead," Wanda mumbles into your forehead before she deposits a kiss there, making you scoff.
"I feel so lazy, we should have done something today," you say, groggily, your voice heavy with sleep.
"Maybe after dinner we can walk through the town. It's supposed to be a full moon tonight," Wanda strokes your hair back making your eyes droop and close from the calming action.
"Yeah, that will be nice," you reply with a silly smile on your face, "it already sounds beautiful."
What you didn't know was taking that stroll in the evening would have you back into the life you let go two years ago. With an alien searching for powerful stones you didn't know existed and a catastrophic outcome no one could have predicted.

The Super Mario Bros. Redux (Pt. 6)
What would happen if, in The Super Mario Bros. Movie, after Mario and Luigi are separated, Mario was the one who ended up in the clutches of Luigi’s eventual arch nemesis, while Luigi teamed up with some of his own close allies to go rescue him? (This part of the story is in one shot format. Most other parts are written in bullet points.)
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 7 ________
A short summary of the things Luigi had done in the past twenty four hours that he had never expected to do in his entire life:
Fall into an interdimensional wormhole. Fight a warrior princess in a crowded arena. Become a royally acclaimed ghost hunter. Enlist in an army assembled to ambush the territory ruled by The King of Ghosts in order to rescue hostages and bring balance to the afterlife. Adopt a dog.
... Though it was more accurate to say the dog adopted him. Normally Luigi had trouble with animals– he could never read their body language, and his clumsiness made for bad first impressions. The few animals he got along with in the past were old and quiet, wanting nothing more than a warm lap on which to lay their head. Polterpup was different; playful and energetic, mischievous yet patient. Luigi couldn’t help but wonder what was the reason behind the attachment– if he himself resembled an old master or friend from the dog’s past life before it became a ghost. It still wore a collar, though the little golden loop on the front had no tag. The collar was bright red, almost a perfect match to Mario’s favorite color. "Heh, you’re just as good at getting into trouble as Mario, too,” Luigi added with a somber smile, kneeling down to oblige the ghost dog’s less-than-subtle plea for belly rubs until it disappeared again, as was its habit. Polterpup tended to suddenly poof in and out of thin air with little warning, and though it seemed to be at random at first, Luigi began to realize the dog mostly came to him when he was feeling alone, which was more often than not as of late. Every new experience, every strange encounter, every unexpected victory made Luigi wish more and more that his brother was around to take part. Hardly a second passed without him wondering what he was doing at that moment, and if he was okay.
Unfortunately, his occupied mind made him a less-than-helpful assistant to E. Gadd. The professor had warned earlier that he had always preferred working alone. The result was a very low tolerance level for “tomfoolery,” as he described it, and it wasn’t long before Luigi’s shaky attempts to help attach upgrades to The Poltergust caused the scientist to lose his patience. One shoddy wire-soldering job later, Luigi found himself being forcibly pushed toward the exit by the surprisingly strong old man. “Go. Shoo. Distract yourself with something else.”
“Like what?” Luigi asked, digging his heels. “What do I do? Where do I go?”
“How about you see the princess?”
“Princess Daisy?”
Luigi lingered in the doorway. The professor adjusted his glasses, and pointed down one of the castle hallways. “Yep! She’s in the greenhouse. I’m sure she could use the company. You two seem to get along well enough.”
“We do?” Luigi placed his hand against his cheek, thinking over their last interactions. They had exchanged blows, but worked together in the end to defeat Boolossus. She had held his hand up as the victor, but she had also toyed with him in a way that made it clear that she knew how weak he truly was. He liked her, that much he knew, but that didn’t mean she wanted anything more to do with him, and furthermore she had a power and confidence to her that intimidated him beyond her status as the daughter of four kings. “I don’t know. I mean, we did make a pretty good team, but she’s royalty! I don’t know anything about how to approach royalty. Do I bow? Or–”
“You’ll be fine,” The Professor assured, only half paying attention as he returned to his work, burying himself back into the open hatch of a large machine.
In the end, Luigi did as he was told. The greenhouse was easy enough to find. As large as the Birabuto Palace was, its corridors were open and easy to navigate, and the guards were surprisingly helpful in giving directions despite their shaky first-encounters.
Finding the large doors to the greenhouse, marked by limestone imitations of crawling vines carved into the archway, Luigi gathered his determination and pushed them open. The first thing that struck him was a wall of glacial cold– a shocking surprise, and the opposite of what he expected from a greenhouse, but this discomfort was immediately undercut by the beauty of the surrounding foliage. The flowers, sparkling with a brilliant, incandescent blue, sprouted from planter boxes and large pots all around in blooms and buds. He thought for a moment that surely they were beautifully-crafted plastic or silicon, but pinching a large leaf between the fingers of his gloves he found they felt as real as any common dandelion. The second thing that struck him was the night sky, clearly visible through the glass walls and ceiling. He had never in his life seen so many stars, and for all his love of science and space he could not recognize a single constellation, which served as an unsettling, but ultimately breathtaking reminder of how far from home truly he was.
“Oh! Hey!”
Luigi jumped and let out a surprised squeak when Daisy emerged from behind a stack of pots to greet him. Her cheeks were tinted pink from the cold, and in her right arm she held a large sack of powdery-white fertilizer that she was distributing between the plants. She laughed at his reaction, but it carried no hint of condescension, just friendly amusement. “I was hoping I’d see you again before we invaded Evershade Valley!” she called, waving him over. “Luigi, was it?”
Luigi approached while holding his hat to his chest, shuddering a bit as the chill bit at the edges of his ears. “Yes, Your Highness.” Daisy once more laughed her friendly, good-natured laugh. “None of that. Just Daisy. No ‘Miss’ or ‘Ma’am’ either. If you’ve gotta be formal, call me Princess Daisy.” Luigi, feeling a little more at ease, put his hat back on his head. “Yes, Princess Daisy.” She gave a nod of approval, then went back to work fertilizing the long rows of plants. “So,” she asked, “What can I help you with, big guy?” “I, er…” Luigi suddenly realized he had failed to come up with a proper reason before arriving here. He couldn’t very well say the professor kicked him out of the lab for being inept, but before he could think of an excuse his attention was re-seized by the plants. Curiosity overcame him to the point that he forgot his worries, and he once more brushed his hand against the leaf of the nearest flower. “Are these where your ice powers came from? In The Battle Stadium?” “Of course! I’m pretty good with a powerup, huh?” Daisy said proudly, “Normally I favor the elephant fruit, but today I decided to switch things up.” “Elephant fruit? There’s other magical plants?” The princess stiffened. Luigi was worried for a moment that he had accidentally said something offensive, but she retained her genuine smile as she set the sack of fertilizer down and placed her hands on her hips. “Wow, you’re really not from around here, are you.” Before Luigi could answer, she walked up and wrapped a friendly arm around his shoulder. “Suppose I should’ve known. Humans aren’t native to this world. The professor is one of, like, two other humans I know. Do you know E. Gadd? Is he your uncle or something?” “I– uh, no. We just met yesterday.” “Let me guess: you're lost." "Well... yes..." "And he said he'd only get you home if you help him.” “What!?” “He’s the kind of guy to pull a stunt like that if he thinks it’s for the greater good.” Daisy explained, holding Luigi a bit closer in a show of sympathy. “You don’t have to do this, you know, you could go home anytime you like. I’ll vouch for you!” Despite the friendly intention behind these words, Luigi felt a lump form in his throat. He slipped out from under The Princess’ side-hug, and stared up at her with a troubled look. “Do you… want me to leave?” Daisy bristled. Her cheeks reddened as she shook her head and waved her hands in dismay. “No! No no no of course not! I think you’re great! It’s just…” She trailed off, rubbing the back of her neck.
Luigi, surprised by this rare show of nervousness, patiently waited with bated breath for her to gather her thoughts, and after a few seconds she continued, quieter than before. “It’s just that I keep thinking about what you said in the arena. You seemed like a guy who had a lot to lose. You weren’t in it for glory or the fun of the fight, you were just scared and… I don’t know… I felt bad for you. Still do.” At this, Luigi gained a slight smile, shyly burying his hands in his pockets and rocking on his heels. “Heh, don’t worry. I gotta learn how to not be scared all the time, y'know?” It didn’t take long before he realized what he said– whose words he was echoing. The gravity of the situation quickly crashed back down on him, robbing him of that small moment of comfort. It was evident by the look on Daisy’s face that she had seen the change in his expression, so Luigi went ahead and explained his predicament before she could ask: “It’s my brother, Mario. We both fell through a warp pipe. I ended up in your kingdom but he ended up in Evershade Valley.”
Daisy cocked her head, the gears turning behind her eyes as everything she had witnessed about the plumber's manner up until now came together in her mind. “Oh. I see.”
“It was my fault. I fell into the warp pipe, and he jumped in after me, and– I… I can’t just leave him.” Luigi heard his own voice crack and felt tears beginning to form in his eyes. Despite this he kept going, the pent up emotions of the past twenty four hours running rampant, unable to be reigned in. “It’s not that I don’t trust anyone else to save him, but I gotta make sure he’s okay! We’ve never been apart this long… and I-... I miss him.” Tears began streaming freely, the cold air burning them into long lines down Luigi’s cheeks. He turned away, struggling to wipe his eyes with the back of his glove. “I’m sorry…”
“Don’t be.”
Luigi saw a glimmer of white fabric in the corner of his vision. Turning, he saw the princess holding a flower-embroidered handkerchief out to him. He accepted, and dried his eyes. He tried to hand it back, but she was already returning to the flowers, plucking up a set of pruning shears as she went. “I’ve never known a good fighter that didn’t have big emotions brewing under the surface,” she assured. “But don’t you worry, after the way we saved my dads, saving you brother should be no sweat!...” Luigi, hearing a light snip of closing shears, saw Princess Daisy remove one of the ice flowers at its base between where the leaves connected to the soil. Despite being cut off from its roots the plant remained as lively as ever. It almost looked to be dancing happily in her hands as she delivered it back to Luigi.
“...and when you do save him, give him this.” She said, holding out the offering. “If Mario’s anything like you, he’s not going to want to be defenseless, and ice magic is the one of the few things that can combat boos besides your Poltergust.” Luigi smiled. He reached out and took the flower into his hands. He was surprised to find it wasn’t particularly chilly to the touch– clearly the coldness of the room was for the sake of cultivating the plants, not the effect of the flowers themselves. “You seem to really know a lot.” He mused aloud, pressing the gift to his chest. “But… you said humans aren’t native to this world. Where did you come from, then?” He stopped suddenly, realizing the personal nature of what he asked. He searched Daisy’s face for some sign of disapproval, but was relieved to see her smiling just as brightly as before. “Ha! I wish I had an answer to your question!” She laughed, “Dragonzamasu says I hatched from an orange egg that appeared suddenly in a field of flowers. Biokinton says he found me curled up in a bassinet hitched to a shooting star. Hiyoihoi says he found me locked in a gemstone at the center of the oldest mountain in Sarasaland. But I’m more inclined to buy Totomesu’s story.”
“What’s Totomesu’s story?” Daisy’s smile wavered. Luigi wondered once again if he misstepped, but this time easily brushed the thought aside, trusting by now that the princess would let him know if he had done something wrong. She turned away, staring up at the stars through the glass wall of the greenhouse, and Luigi placed himself at the her side, watching the stars in tandem until Daisy finally broke the silence and answered his question: “He found me at the mouth of a warp pipe, barely old enough to crawl and completely terrified. Sometimes I think I still remember that day… as much as I prefer to believe that I hatched from an egg.”
There was such an odd sadness to her voice that Luigi felt an impulse to reach out and reassuringly take her hand, though he had enough common sense to refrain from such an intimate gesture. All the same, he wanted to say something comforting. “I don’t mind that you didn’t hatch from an egg.” He heard himself blurt out.
Daisy shot him a confused look, and Luigi nervously scrambled to explain himself. “What I mean is… hey, you were a baby, y’know? Ain’t nothing to be embarrassed about. You’re already so cool, you can’t be cool every moment of your life, and most babies aren’t cool! And… uh…” Daisy started to laugh. Luigi turned red, but felt a little better now that she was smiling again, even more so when he felt the princess affectionately nudging his shoulder. “Haha! I get it big guy, I get what you're saying!”
Luigi laughed too, in spite of himself.
“Speaking of ‘cool,’” Daisy went on, “I'm freezing!” She rubbed at her arms in a display of discomfort. Luigi, too, was suddenly reminded of just how cold he was. By now the low temperature had seeped all the way through his clothes and skin, triggering a powerful shiver that ran through his core, which was soon soothed as the princess wrapped an arm around him, and pressed him close. “Tell me, Luigi, do you have hot chocolate in your world?”
“I love hot chocolate!”
“Perfect!” With her arm still tightly wrapped around the plumber, Daisy eagerly led him to the egress of the greenhouse. “Let’s get us some good old-fashioned creature comforts before we fight some ghosts!”
"Heh. Yeah. Let's-a-go!" Luigi said, forcing enthusiasm, thankful that he had the cold as an excuse for his uncontrollable shivering.

Welcome to the Sweet Voice Cafe, a HLVRAI AU!
The cafe serves ice cream, hot drinks, and a few options of pastries! Their special includes different themed ice creams with sweet voice ingredients that give actual effects. (Calming, kindness, sleepiness, love, etc.) The decorations are loud and bright, driving away most “karens”. Sunkist is the mascot! The science team has a large apartment upstairs where they reside. It’s basically a collection of Outcodes. This is an AU where Black Mesa, aliens, and powers don’t exist. They simply exist in the Half Life video games. The government has taken notice of this establishment, but are so frightened by the unknown powers of these entities, that they don’t take action.
Information about all characters below!
Tumblr media
Benrey (Benny)
He/It/They (He preferred) Nonbinary Omnisexual
He messed around and found out, escaping his reality for but a few minutes. The universe didn’t like that and hard reset, replacing them with an identical Benrey. He can visit his old AU, but if he ever tries to interact with someone he gets teleported out of distance. He eventually found the Sweet Voice Cafe. In his free time, he enjoys working there (it supplies sweet voice or works the cash register sometimes), playing video games, or traveling the multiverse, usually the latter.
Outfits include blues, purples, and pinks, plus sort of 80s aesthetics. Comfy clothes like hoodies and sweatshirts. It does have some casual hats, but his helmet is a comfort item.
Powers:
- Sweet Voice
- Multiverse Travel/Portals
- Glitching/Clipping
- Fast Healing/Immortality
- Flying/Floating
- Size Manipulation
Tumblr media
Mr. Coomer
He/Him Trans Bisexual
He’s from an AU where he became self-aware way too early on and panicked. The game didn’t like that and expelled him from the universe. He floated in the void for a bit, but luckily not long enough to go crazy, less than a couple of days. He was rescued by Bubby and they ended up traveling together for a while before meeting the others and settling down. He became a co-owner of Sweet Voice Cafe, but enjoys working alongside everyone, usually greeting customers. He’s a very fun and extroverted manager, but takes harassment of his employees very seriously. A look alone can scare off the worst of customers.
Outfits include collared shirts, Hawaiian shirts, and rolled up sleeves. Likes green tones and bootleg brand logos.
Powers:
- Sweet Voice
- Advanced Biotech (extendo arms/legs, rocket launcher arm, artificial colon, etc.)
- Sometimes unable to feel pain and others times feels it to the extreme (not allowed to work with the hot items)
- Glow in the dark eyes/Night vision
- Can eat anything (he’s considered the trash disposal lol)
Tumblr media
Bubby
He/Xim Agender Pansexual Demiromantic
Bubby’s world was dismantled very quickly by a virus, only a few minutes into gameplay. Bubby had only met Tommy for a short moment. When the world glitched out of existence, his body went into overdrive to protect him. Xe floated through the void for a long time in a coma. He finally awoke when a faceless NPC let him out. After exploring his powers, Xe traveled the multiverse alone at random for quite a while, a couple years at least. He met Coomer and they settled down in an unknown AU after about a year. He’s a co-owner of SVC, but prefers to work more behind the scenes, ordering people around in the kitchen and making hot drinks (no need to pay for machines yippee!). Although he’s strong enough to pick the AUs he goes to now, he only uses it to visit rage rooms lol. He has a couple pet Snarks named Pyro and Ember.
Fashion-wise, he would wear any type of outfit and SLAY. But his preferences include leather jackets, turtlenecks, and flowy skirts. He prefers cyan, black, red, and neon colors, especially if it has flame motifs. Xe doesn’t wear pastels unless it’s blue.
Powers:
- Ultimate Lifeform
- Pyrokinesis
- Controlled Multiversal Travel
- Turning into a car (and speaking to/controlling them)
- Translation of any language
- Telekinesis
- Pretty much any power you can think of. You have no idea what he will do next and he likes it that way.
Tumblr media
Tommy Neapolitan
He/Him Cis Asexual Panromantic
Tommy hails from a world where he chose his last name based on ice cream, and loves smoothies instead of soda. He experienced the entire game before he was taken during his birthday party at Ben and Jerrys. (SVC) Gman, grieving from his loss, saw Tommy and embraced him, taking him with him to the next AU. With the lack of Tommy, his original world was overwritten to fix it, effectively replacing him. Gman and Tommy didn’t get along for the longest time, but now they’re on speaking terms, albeit tense. Tommy manages most of the ice cream department because of his expertise in flavors. He also does the bookkeeping.
Tommy wears mostly soft colors, usually yellow, orange, and pink coded. He prefers loose clothing, but ties it back when working with food.
Powers:
- Time powers
- Glow in the dark eyes/Night vision
- Sweet voice (better at reading than speaking it though)
- Semi-photographic memory
Tumblr media
Gordon Martinez
He/Him Trans Bisexual
Because he hails from a “it is a game” AU, you can imagine how shocking it was when supernatural stuff happened in his OWN home, not in the VR set. To this day, he’s still unsure what exactly happened. Aliens? The government? Fairies? He doesn’t know and doesn’t care. When they started getting attacked, his first instinct was of course to protect his son. Soon enough, Bubby rescued them and brought them to SVC. He is divorced, but luckily Gordon has full custody and is just grateful his son is safe. He was more than happy to settle down, despite Joshua’s grumblings. He helps with the miscellaneous baking in the kitchen. His bestseller is his croissants! In his free time, he enjoys streaming or binge watching tv.
He’s drawn to warm colors for his outfits, usually oranges and browns. He likes sweaters or shirts with funny dad jokes. He has a couple of hoodies as well.
Powers
- Does being an absolute nerd count?
Tumblr media
Joshua Martinez
He/Him
Joshua is 6 years old. He doesn't understand what happened, but whines to Gordon about missing his friends and why they can’t go back. He’s happy he gets a big room to himself now at least! Gordon eventually enrolled him in a nearby school. He enjoys cowboys, dinosaurs, music, and video games. His least favorite class is math. He very much enjoys the free ice cream he gets from the shop. Benrey had to be scolded for giving him too much one time asdgfhjkl.
Tshirts with logos! Doesn’t have a color preference yet, but does enjoy his cowboy hat and assorted bandanas the team keeps getting him.
Powers:
- Puppy dog eyes you cannot resist (but should learn to)
Tumblr media
George Mantle (GMan)
He/It Agender Aroace
George lost his Tommy in a freak accident that also wiped out his entire world. He wandered the multiverse aimlessly, unfortunately not finding any AUs with a Tommy either. It met a Slick once, but noticed how differently they sounded and acted, so he didn’t pry. The first Tommy he saw was Neapolitan. He immediately hugged him, and the universe decided “oh hey, angst” and kicked them both out. It took a very long time for the two to get on good terms. It tries its best in forming a connection though. Gman focuses on keeping the establishment running and secretly watches the government to make sure they don’t do something… unwise to his friends. He wants nothing to do with multiversal travel anymore, no siree.
He wears lots of suits. They’re just the most comfortable to him. They do end up varying in color and pattern. One time Tommy got him a long sleeved shirt with a pattern of a fake suit on it and he nearly cried. (Tommy took it to mean the gift was bad, but Gman was just moved his “son” was trying to make a connection.)
Powers:
- Time manipulation
- Clipping/glitching
- Teleportation
- Invisibility
- Glowing eyes/Night vision
- Could breathe in space/underwater but has no interest in doing so.
Forzen
He/She Bigender Abrosexual
Forzen doesn’t quite remember where he came from. She just woke up here one day, I guess. He doesn’t live with the science team and only shows up every once and a while as a customer. He only orders original Rocky Road ice cream. In reality, the government asked her to keep an eye on SVC. Since this is a world where aliens and supernatural occurrences don’t exist, they’re very unsure how to handle the situation. Frozen is laid back and bored over the whole thing. She’s just happy he gets a free living space and unlimited pizza and textbooks at his disposal. The government asked what he wanted to graduate in, and he never ever elaborated.
He mostly wears baggy t-shirts and jeans, sometimes cargo pants. Dull colors or funny phrases.
Powers:
- Teleportation
- Super Speed
- Indestructibility (this greatly frightens the government, especially after he denied wanting to fight for their military)
Tumblr media
Darnold
They/He/She Genderfluid Asexual Demiromantic
Darnold is from an unknown AU. Maybe. They either remember and don’t want to talk about it, or don’t care. She very quickly adapts to the new place and the science team welcomed him into their apartment. He very much enjoys his place in the cafe, able to experiment and mix flavors and sweet voice combinations in his lab. Tommy tried to help gather sweet voice, but he’s not good enough at it himself, and Sunkist wouldn’t listen. So Darnold has to stock up on the sporadic times Benrey returns. They enjoy flying kites and playing TF2 in their spare time.
Their favorite outfit is sweater vests and she enjoys darker warm colors, like maroon and purple. She collects various bow ties.
Powers:
- Fast Healing
- Flying
- Not much else, but can invent stuff easily from scrap metal and spare parts
Tumblr media
Sunkist
She/He/It
No one knows where Sunkist came from because, well, she can’t speak. As he is the perfect dog, he doesn’t shed, and is allowed to freely roam the cafe, or wherever else she’d like to wander off to. As the mascot, it is well beloved by the community. It can change his form from a flat (and slightly glowing and transparent) png to a human-sized dog at will. Very quickly bonded with Tommy and became a support when he was struggling with the situation. It cares for everyone on the science team, regardless of whether it listens to their demands or not.
Sometimes wears bandanas, collars, or bows with soda motifs. No one gifted it to her, she just appears with them sometimes and they may change when you blink . . .
Powers:
- Sweet Voice
- Immortal and indestructible
- Clipping and flying
- Teleportation
- Glowing (including in 3D form, but it's by random)

Alright my friends - the twinkly lights are up, the house smells like pine, you've got every manner of red-green-and-gold wrapping paper shoved in a corner - without a doubt it's that time of year: Christmas. As you know, I've been disappointed to see so few entries into the Christmas rom-com genre this year from Netflix, so I've started to explore further afield to find something ripe for your enjoyment.
And now, I'm pleased to present...
The Worst Movies on HBO/MAX/Discovery+/HGTV??? (idefk), Right Now!
As it turns out sometime last year Discovery+ teamed up with MarVista to produce some Christmas romance content with random tie-ins to their FoodNetwork/HGTV network stars. This has created some really... oh, let's just call it interesting content.
Tumblr media
I mean... you gotta know from the outset that there's no way these will be good. NO fucking WAY.
FIRST, as a whole, I don't think these movies know what their purpose is. Are they supposed to promote the reality shows of their cameo stars? Are they supposed to give their reality stars an opportunity to flex some acting muscle!? Are they supposed to be *GASP* good stories? NOBODY KNOWS!
SECOND, it's possible that the point of these movies is just to promote the reality show format as like... a concept. But the thing is -- NOT TO FORESHADOW OR ANYTHING -- that comes with some very weird baggage. LIKE SUPER WEIRD.
Let's break these down in round-up style.
The first movie that apparently created the mold* was Candy Coated Christmas (2021) - *pun intended. This vehicle cameos Ree Drummond, The Pioneer Woman, who gets about two minutes of screen time which apparently warrants her this kind of promotional one-sheet placement:
Tumblr media
...like okay.
A shocking number of these stories involve people who are in financial peril. In this one, a hotel heiress finds herself on the brink of bankruptcy, and, on daddy's orders, she heads to a small town to evict the peppermint farmer tenants at her family's property who are, you guessed it, on the brink of bankruptcy.
In this movie, the spirit of Christmas (or spearmint gum in this case), is a plan to rescue these two financial catastrophes, oh, and they fall in love. Sure. Why not.
This movie is an empty candy-coated shell of a romance that I can best describe as serviceable. But apparently it was enough of a hit that the rest of the movies followed. So we can blame this candy cane for the Christmas rogering that followed in 2022.
Continuing from worst to most egregious...
A Gingerbread Christmas (2022) - This one cameos that Ace of Cakes dude (no idea his name and not interested in looking it up) who is judging a gingerbread competition that the main character desperately needs to win to save her dead mom's foundering bakery - YES another fucking business in peril.
Her love interest is the general contractor/baker/single dad who has taken up daily residence in the bakery where he is apparently simultaneously working on fixing the place up and also doing all of the baking........?
Tumblr media
Yeah, it makes little sense, and yet somehow this is not the worst of the four entries this year.
Both of these actors are people you'll recognize and will have you thinking heyyyyy where is she/he from? (Let me help you out: The Good Place/Reacher). They're fine.
This is fine.
It's just... not going to leave you feeling much of anything. And that's the exact opposite of what these movies are supposed to do. You're not killing me, you're just boring me. There's nothing spicy in this gingerbread, baby! ZING! Nailed 'em.
There's a kind of nice subplot about a new immigrant entering the contest as well, but maybe I have a soft spot in my heart for that. This definitely does not seem like it's going for the same audience as some of the Hallmark movies, but it's also only gesturing at substantive things rather than really delivering anything of substance. Hey guys, did you know that immigrant Muslims can celebrate Christmas too!?
MOVING ON.....
One Delicious Christmas (2022) - Alright... where do I even start here??? Continuing on our theme of struggling businesses, this one slightly breaks the pattern by telling us a story of the owner of a boutique inn who needs to find a new chef for her family business so that she can bring on a financial partner to help ease the strain of her sole ownership.
The cameo in this one is Bobby Flay who comes in as a restaurant critic to comment on the food. Sigh. I know. Look I'm just reporting here, don't harm the messenger.
Tumblr media
Alright there are three things here that just drove me completely batty: First, and I hate calling this shit out, but I gotta say the lead actress here has some partial vocal fry thing going on with her voice that is just impossible to watch for an hour and a half. I just wanted to shake her and be like BREATHE THROUGH YOUR CHEST. Fucking hell. It's a trial being me sometimes.
Second, obviously the theme here is cooking, but the whole story is based around the fact that the chef is doing new and risky recipes that the inn owner is nervous her people won't like... but like... the recipes are super basic? Like scalloped potatoes instead of mashed? Lobster bisque!? None of the new menu items read as dangerous or cutting edge -- especially if you watch the Food Network -- SO WHAT THE FUCK IS THE POINT1?!? Argh, okay.
Last, and this is just a weird thing that probably only I noticed, but like all these movies seemed to go out of their way to do mixed racial castings, which is a good thing, but then they also seem to have not made any adjustments for that in terms of story.
In this one, the love interest/chef is played by a Canadian actor of Filipino ancestry -- but his character name is Preston Weaver. Preston. PRESTON. PRESTON. There are also repeated references in the story to cooking for and with his grandmother, but no mention, not even one, that maybe her cooking wasn't American-style food? I mean, it is perfectly possible for a person to have their family immigrant story have happened so long ago, that even their grandparent doesn't make traditional foods from their country of ethnic origin, but it also seems WEIRD. Like some sort of weird white washing??? idk. Jury is still out on this I guess. I just don't think it would have killed them to reference one Filipino recipe or technique, especially since that's a pretty rich food culture. You know, as compared with making a main plot point that the fucking LOBSTER BISQUE keeps selling out.
(Is there a whiter word than bisque? I don't fucking think so).
I HAVE GONE ON TOO LONG. THE NEXT ONE.
Designing Christmas (2022) - Alright, I'm running out of steam and so I'm gonna make this one quick. This one cameos that dark haired lady from Love it or List it not sure her name not looking it up (Hilary???). This one is about a couple who work as a designer/contractor pair on a reality show and in order to save their failing show they decide their last show of the season will be a restoration of her family's old home that she just purchased and SURPRISE TO NO ONE WHO WATCHES THESE SHOWS there's a crack in the foundation blahblahblah WHO CARES!?
NO ONE.
Tumblr media
This one really suffers from the fact that the male lead is just boring.
Honestly, that's a theme throughout these movies. The male leads are super weak and boring. Tepid. Just absolutely forgettable characters played by actors who are deciding whether the fuck to fire their agents.
What's weird about this one is the way that the production really styles it after a reality show -- even including those restoration classic before and after reveals. But that is nothing on the last one......
A Christmas Open House (2022) -- Alright the cameos in this one are that Hometown Whatever couple who have been "restoring" houses in their hometown in someplace in the south and by restoring, I mean flipping but under the guise of home restoration.
ANYHOW - the plot is that this big city house stager teams up with a realtor to sell her family home to make sure her mom gets the best purchase price on the sale. It's just like those old Christmas classics that really capture the Christmas spirit - A Christmas Carol, Miracle on 34th Street, It's a Wonderful Life. You know. Really in that anti-capitalist vein.
Tumblr media
Deeeeeeeep sigh.
So... I don't even know how to say this. But this movie involves a Christmas miracle.
See, it turns out the house stager accidentally gave the furniture company the wrong credit card number, so the day before the showing ON CHRISTMAS the furniture people came and took back all of the perfectly staged furniture and GASP knocked down the (fake) Christmas tree! WHAT ARE THEY GONNA DO1?!? HOW ARE THEY EVER GONNA SELL THE HOUSE ON CHRISTMAS NOW!?$!
BUT IT'S A CHRISTMAS MIRACLE
The whole town shows up to bring them furniture that they can use to stage the house before the potential buyers arrive. Like... they show up with their odds and ends so that the house can be staged. SO THAT THE HOUSE CAN BE STAGED FOR SALE. Are... are you guys with me here? The miracle that the whole town rallied behind was bringing FURNITURE to STAGE A HOUSE. FOR SALE.
I just... I am walking away.
We are so fucking far from Dickens here we might as well be in a new fucking holiday.
And we are.
Because that's the whole point of all of these movies.
It's not Christmas.
It's American Christmas.
For all the shit that the nostalgic, small-town worshipping Christmas movies get this time of year, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say these movies are more insidious. Instead of blatantly trying to valorize the small town spirit, the support of family and friends, and getting back to your roots, these movies are like the Scooby Doo villain of Christmas movies. Rip off the mask at the end for the big reveal:
IT WAS CAPITALISM ALL ALONG!?!?
Anyhow, I don't know who was supposed to read these scripts before they became movies, but everyone involved will probably be laughing all the way to the bank.
Don't watch these. They're not funny enough to be worth the soul-gutting feeling of realizing what these movies are for.
Nothing.
Empty.
Spiritless.
Candy-coated capitalism.

Any amber hcs?/nf
Tumblr media
𖦹 🌷 ˓ ミ Amber headcanons ໒꒱ ‧₊
♡ !! Thank you for this ask! I love amber a lot!! She needs more attention,,
cw: parental death
Tumblr media
✦ Has the best fashion sense out of the team. Having a fashion crisis? Just come to Amber, she'll help out! Sometimes she even likes to design her own clothing.. however, she does need her own models of course! That being, none other than the rescue team! (Roy & Poli are forced to wear dresses sometimes) (Someone please draw that actually)
✦ It may not seem like it, but she can be a TOTAL flirt. She can be bold, and she's not afraid to do so! Which leads to Poli and Roy mostly being flustered by her sparkle.
✦ The opposite of Roy, Amber actually enjoys spicy food. Whenever they both order something, she helps Roy with his serving if something happened to be spicy in it.
✦ Honestly, I don't think this is my own headcanon. We should all agree Amber would be absolutely terrifying when she gets angry.
✦ Amber beats herself up whenever she messes up something. She's afraid of failure, and she despises it. However, the team will always tell her that it's okay to make mistakes.
✦ Literally smells like roses and flowerly perfume. She's a clean girl i'm telling you.
✦ When she met Sandy, she was EXTREMELY overjoyed. To think there would be an another girl in a rescue team had her on cloud nine. Sandy, Amber and Jin often like to do girl hang outs, gossiping about the guys lol (poor them)
✦ Loves to collect crystals and has an entire collection of them. She even gifted crystals to the rescue team members, they treasure it dearly. Here's the crystals she gave to them
Poli - Sodalite
Roy - Red jasper
Helly - Chyrsoprase
Jin - Sunstone
✦ She can be a bit of a nerd, but that's a given. She sometimes goes off about rambling about random things like gemstones and such, but the others happily listen to her rambles. Even if she gets a little embarrassed when she finds out she's been rambling.
✦ Has the healthiest sleeping schedule out of the team. Wakes up early, and goes to bed early. Poli might wake up the earliest, but does he go to bed early? Well..
✦ Enjoys a green smoothie everyday. She tries to suggest the idea to the others. (She was met with Poli, Helly and Jin in utter disgust. However, Roy enjoyed it.)
✦ While I imagine roy as the cook for the team, she's the BAKER for the team! Absolutely makes the most godly desserts that cease to exist. The team adores it. She's in charge for birthday cakes.
✦ When Amber was little, she had to face her mom being pretty sick. Her mom unfortunately passed away when she was a teenager. This was the main reason why she became a nurse, to protect others.
✦ She comes from a big family! She has 5 other siblings, and she's the oldest. Even if it's a lot, she all loves them dearly with her heart.
✦ Adores jewerly. Whenever she has the time, she loves making little bracelets out of gemstones for the team. She's really creative whenever it comes to making accessoires.
✦ Amber dislikes sea food. Especially octopus. She can't really handle textures of certain foods sometimes.
✦ Whenever she's the one who gets sick, she's forced to face the team go into a mindless panic. Even if it's chaotic, it does make her feel better that they care so much for her.
✦ When the others are sick, she knows exactly what to do. She makes sure they have ALL the comfort they need. To kidshows or humming songs, she got them.
✦ Speaking of humming songs.. Amber can sing really well. She doesn't do it often, but whenever they have karoke nights thats when her voice really comes out.
✦ Good at archery! She has a really good aim. Watch out.
✦ Amber feels like she's the weakest of the team since she can't carry heavy stuff without her arms giving out. She feels like she's just supposed to stand on the side for aid rather than help, because she'll just mess it up.
✦ Sometimes a little TOO forgiving. She tries her best to not easily forgive, but it's hard for her.

Thanks for the brain worms, Lovely Runner. Now I have theories
I don't watch a lot of currently airing dramas and when I do, I don't usually post anything aside from 'cuuuuute' or 'paaiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnn". But because I can no longer be normal about waiting for things, I have let Lovely Runner consume my mind and now I have thoughts about it.
Because the real cool thing about this show (and about kdramas in general) is that it's not just a quirky romcom about two clowns falling in awkward love with each other- it's a murder mystery whodunnit revolving around how Sun Jae died the night he reunited with Im Sol. It's a kdrama but giving '7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hugo' vibes where the protagonist has to figure out who the murderer was in what looks like a suicide while inhabiting a body that's not their's. But in this case, Im Sol has yet to realize that it's a murder. And now I have a Theory.
And it's that Im Sol was the objective the entire time. If not the target, then the focus of the killer. The murderer, whoever it was, just wanted Sun Jae out of the way because he knew that if Sun Jae managed to re-establish a connection with Im Sol again, it would be harder to prey/stalk/possibly murder her.
Because I have watched ep 1 god only knows how many times, and it actually looks as though the phone was deliberately knocked out of her hand. I've seen some theories float around that it might have been a future version of Sun Jae but why would he do that to the woman he loved, knowing what she would endure with her cell phone out of commission (unable to call for help, stranded in the cold with a broken wheelchair). It makes more sense that it was someone with more sinister motives, someone who definitely didn't want her to be able to call for help. It would also make her more willing to get into the most convenient, immediate form of transportation that happened to be passing by. Like...a taxi.
I also think that this stalker/murderer would have been doing this since her high school days because of the fact that someone in a taxi had been following her in episode 4. And what a parallel that would be- just as Im Sol admired to Sun Jae since she was a teenager right into her thirties (and vice versa with Sun Jae having been in love with her from the beginning to the present day) we have another character who has also been obsessed with Im Sol, but not in the sweet, innocent way she was devoted to Sun Jae but in a dangerously obsessed fashion that's more "if I can't have you nobody can''. The night of her accident could have been her stalker's attempt at confessing his "love" only for it to spiral into a kidnapping attempt. Im Sol attempts to run away, Sun Jae thwarts her attacker but it all ends with Im Sol too traumatized to remember that night and resentful of Sun Jae for rescuing her. Sun Jae, full of guilt, keeps his distance and Im Sol is without her protector. And her stalker/Sun Jae's future murderer has been hovering in the margins of her life, satisfied that since she's wheelchair bound and without Sun Jae, she was helpless and 'his'.
But then Sun Jae comes back into her life, Sun Jae who is both a rival and someone who has a habit of saving Im Sol again and again. So, Sun Jae has to be gotten rid of for Im Sol to be truly vulnerable and alone again.
Do I have a theory to who this is? Not really. No one really stands out at this time. Maybe it's a random member from Sun Jae's swim team. Or Sun Jae's swim rival who hates him. But I think he and the CEO guy could just be red herrings for who the actual killer is. I don't think it's Kim Tae Sung. I do think Kim Tae Sung encountered the killer before and the reason he was "expelled" was because he found out the killer's part in Im Sol's accident and was trying to avenge her. It's a little too convenient that he disappeared from the scene after Im Sol's accident because of a 'fight'.
Anyways this could be completely wrong, but I'm having fun guessing. By guessing, I mean suffering waiting for the next ep.
PS Why are 19 year old Sol's bangs so much more cringe when she's not being possessed by her 34 year old self? Kim Tae Sung was telling the truth when he said she got cuter when she became Grandma Sol again.

Here are some random (fun/informative) facts about Roy Harper I just felt like sharing:
(Possible spoilers below)
- used to go by "Speedy" (Oliver Queen's sidekick; they met when Roy stole his wallet)
- has an adoptive brother Bird and daughter Lian (with Cheshire, whom he was supposed to capture but fell in love instead)
- former member of the Titans (and Teen Titans)
- former mercenary (a teacher after that)
- lived on Spokane Indian Reservation
- lived in a mall (after his adoptive father - Navajo medicine chief Brave Bow (rebooted Big Bow) was murdered and he ran away)
- designed Green Arrow's arrows

A Proposition for Potential PMD: Explorers Remakes
If and when Nintendo remakes PMD: Explorers (preferably optimized/combined as they did with Sky versus Time/Darkness, like they did with Red/Blue Rescue Team into DX), I think it could work as an open-world game like Legends: Arceus.
Hear me out.
We don't exactly know the context of the hero being brought to the world in the first place: in PMD lore humans apparently exist in the world but are exceedingly rare to come across, like unicorns it seems like to me. What if the reason for this is because humans can only exist in the PMD world if they're brought there?
It's implied that a higher power than Dialga returned the hero after they disappeared from the timeline, and who is above Dialga?
Who brought a modern human into the world of Hisui?
More thoughts below:
I want, more than anything for the reboots, for there to be an elaboration on what it was like in the future between the hero and Grovyle (and the other members of the investigation team, whoever they were besides Celebi), but this would require a certain amount of personalization for the human!player due to the implementation of character customization in most of the recent games.
The solution? Present it like Legends: Arceus.
Show Arceus approaching the hero to help save this world from time (minus the phone, obviously). Whether or not he wipes the hero's memory of their time in their world is debatable, but I think that would be an interesting dynamic to see the hero willing to sacrifice all knowledge of their life prior to being sent there—it would give a similar feeling to the mystery of the base game, and limit the hero's knowledge to match new players' for plot polishing.
Your main question might be, 'Fisara, the whole point of these games are the mystery dungeons! How can you have an open-world game like Legends: Arceus, which has a set map, and use it this way?'
I propose to you the concept of labyrinths.
Hypothetically, one could construct a basic structure of a map of any given dungeon, sort of like Legend of Zelda dungeons, but have the individual rooms/pathways randomized like normal. That way you have an entrance and an exit, but if you don't make your way through the mystery dungeon correctly, as normal, it spits you back out at the beginning.
I say this because the concept of having 'floors' can pose immersion issues since this format would have to be more realistic—having random staircases littered throughout the place wouldn't make very much sense.
However, one could break down the dungeons into levels, especially since many of them are located either in caves or mountainous regions; like switching between main rooms in LoZ dungeons, again, just sealing them off so you can't go back—more of a gradual descent.
For plains/forests/et cetera, it could simply be the winding trail through these places on the same vertical plane, presented as zones or sections instead.
Items and Pokemon could still be randomly generated like Sword/Shield and Scarlet/Violet, as well.
While the idea isn't perfect and definitely would need some refining to make it feasible, I feel that it would work.
So now that the player as a human is established, the 'modernization' of mystery dungeons solved for the most part, what about the story?
I think the reboot's plot could be the same as the base games, perhaps with added scenes in the time gaps to fill out the plot more—you wake up as a Pokemon, save the world, go through the post-game, you know the drill.
I definitely want them to bring forward the Special Episodes, likewise, and maybe add some more! I'd like to know how Chatot and Wigglytuff met, more about Wigglytuff and Armaldo/Team Charm, and some of the other Guildmembers and side characters that didn't get spotlights.
Where I propose that it differs is my own personal canon, but I'll try to keep it general.
It would be required that the team reaches Guildmaster Rank before this could happen, and that Darkrai's situation has been settled. (Whether or not there's an implied time skip or not, I don't know.) But one day your partner asks you if there's anything you wonder about regarding your past, and you could be presented with two options:
'I wish I could get my memories back,' or, 'I wish I knew if Grovyle is okay.'
This choice doesn't really divert any changes, just the order they take place in, if that makes sense.
Your partner agrees with you, whatever you say, and it falls to the back of your minds until you happen to learn from Bidoof (or the other Guildmembers, since they were there) that Jirachi grants wishes—and that his came true since the team joined the Guild.
I know you can visit Star Cave and receive a wish from Jirachi, in Red/Blue Rescue Team/DX, and he's featured in Bidoof's Wish, but I don't recall if you as the hero can get a wish granted from him—which is where this plot point comes into play.
Your partner proposes that you two travel to Star Cave to see if Jirachi could answer your wishes, and should you go it proceeds as normal: dungeon layout has changed like the base game, you have to fight Jirachi, and he offers you the same options as in Bidoof's Wish: to become rich (lots of money), to be the strongest Pokemon (power-up items), to be the best explorer (perhaps a map to an unexplored/undiscovered dungeon?), to eat lots of yummy food (gummis), to get lots of items (from the dungeon), to rule the world (which I think would prompt a repeat question, since it's a rather silly answer)...
...Or 'something else'.
You have the choice to select any of the former options, but picking 'something else' will instigate a new conversation after confirming that it is truly and that you are absolutely sure that it's what you want. This relates directly to the conversation you had with your partner earlier, so the player's choice will be their wish—however, you don't have to worry about which one you pick, because your partner will share the one you didn't, so the dialogue would be switched around a little bit to accommodate for that.
Hero: (Something else.) Partner: ...Oh, [Player], you mean...what we talked about earlier? Hero: (Nods) Partner: Okay. {Turns to Jirachi} [Player] is originally from the future, and lost his/her memories during an accident while traveling back through time. We wanted to know if you could...well, if you could grant his/her wish to restore them! Jirachi: Hmm...that is not an easy wish to grant, as I don't normally have the power to influence anyone's memory. Partner, downtrodden: ...Oh. Jirachi: ...But, since you and [Player] have worked so hard and one so much...I will make [Player]'s wish come true. Partner, excited: R-really? You'll do that, Jirachi? Jirachi: Yes. And as a personal favor for you saving the world twice over...I'll grant your wish, too, [Partner]. Partner: O-oh! My wish? I didn't even think about it...I was so caught up with [Player]'s that I haven't even considered what I would ask for... Jirachi: It's all right. That you were so concerned for [Player] says a lot about you. You're a good Pokemon, [Partner]. So if you don't have a wish now... Partner: W-wait! I do think I have one, if that's all right! Jirachi: Go on. Partner: We have some friends in the future, and we're not sure if they're okay. We would really like to know if they're all right, Jirachi, if that's at all possible. Jirachi: Hmm...that isn't exactly easier, either, but...it will happen. You'll be able to find out soon if your friends are alive and well, [Player] and [Partner]. It may not happen today, or tomorrow, but...one day. Partner: Thank you, Jirachi! You don't know how much this means to us! Jirachi: I'm glad. Consider it my thanks for your efforts in saving our world.
Jirachi grants the wishes and disappears to go back to sleep. Nothing changes at first, so they worry a little, but partner has hope that Jirachi's word is true.
Hero and partner return home, and during the night while the player is dreaming, the hero starts to have dreams of snippets of their life before—mostly dialogue with some images, like their dimensional scream flashes.
This unlocks a new section, similar to the Special Episodes, of the pre-story—where the aforementioned plot of the player being chosen and deposited into the PMD world occurs.
I think it should focus on the player getting through a first dungeon by themselves to learn combat—and, again, you might wonder 'how in the world would that work, Fisara?' but I say to that: the proliferation of items littering the place.
It never really made sense to me why Pokemon would use items, particularly those for attacks, when they have moves (other than a mechanical sense, of course, for the game's sake), but it would make perfect sense for a human who has no abilities to use them: Gravelrocks/Geo-Pebbles, Sticks/Iron and Silver Thorns, various Seeds and Orbs...the human would not be defenseless, and this would explain why Grovyle uses them with such familiarity, also.
Then the player meets Grovyle (though I'd honestly prefer it if they met him as a Treecko and they 'grew up' together a bit, although other than some magic with the evolutionary spring I don't know how he'd evolve in-lore unless they sought a special item or something. They get connected with the investigation society and—for the main plot of this extension—you and Grovyle explore the Grass Continent as it stands in the corrupted future.
This would give so many opportunities to see how the ecology/environment changes, the names that future Pokemon give the locations, and while it would follow a similar path to the main game it would be a refreshing view of it since this is where all of the hero's flashbacks originate. Having to discover old maps and texts to figure out the locations of the Time Gears, maybe even tracking down Uxie/Mesprit/Azelf if they're still around/haven't been driven mad by the planet's paralysis (maybe Uxie is the only one who remembers since his specialty is in memory, idk). Then we would have the opportunity to introduce the danger that Dusknoir poses, trying to track them down to stop them. I'd also like to see at least some background indications of Darkrai's meddling, because there is so much potential to bring the plot full circle with more exploration.
They would somehow need to be able to travel to the Hidden Land (now, canonically, Dusk Forest) to find Celebi, so I don't know if the Relic Fragment and Lapras would come into play, or if Celebi just travels around the continent (in the case of there being more than one time portal). Anyway, Dusknoir and his Sableye finally almost catch them, Celebi sends them back, and then Grovyle and the hero are attacked during the time stream by Darkrai (which I'd really like to see a glimpse/indication of him, even if he's in the shadows).
Once this is completed, when you go back to the main game (after a day, so the following night), you explain to your partner that you received your memory back and explain everything that happened. They're ecstatic, and they ask you about Grovyle and Celebi and your adventures that you remembered. Then they get a little down, asking if you miss them now, and you're able to respond.
Small time skip (bc this post is already way too long), and one day Celebi shows up at the guild looking for you! She explains that the time portal has been repaired now that time has evened back out, and says that you can come to the future again. The player decides to go, but the partner decides to stay because they belong there, and the player truly belongs in the future. Cue tearful goodbye (pls animate a hug also that'd be great), and player travels to the Hidden Land with Celebi to find it (opening up another section like the memories one so the player can still hang out in the present and do missions and stuff—no obligation to go forward).
They travel back to the future, and while it would hypothetically look the same as the past since the paralysis is gone, I think it'd be great to show the passage of time with the ruins being a little more decayed and overgrown w/ vegetation/etc. Maybe Dialga visits them and bids them hello.
Celebi takes them back to the mainland where the others have settled, maybe Treasure Town but I think it would be nice to see anew settlement instead. Cue tearful reunion with Grovyle (another animated hug pls), but then gasp! Dusknoir's there too!
I want there to be full explanations on how everything's going on—did they form an exploration team? Are they managing their town? How are they adjusting to non-post-apocalyptic life? (With a whole story arc on learning to trust Dusknoir again since he's been redeemed, I will accept no other option, Nintendo. Give me wholesomeness with that old man.) I want them to go on adventures again with the hero and them all be happy. Then I want them to go visit Treasure Town to find out that your partner has become the Guildmaster since Wigglytuff decided to retire/go exploring on his own again (with or without Chatot, maybe depending on how severely his wounds from Kabutops/Omanytes limited his exploration abilities, idk). Wrap it all up in a nice little bow.
I'd love it if you also had the option to return the player to a human or not, too, but I don't really know how you'd execute that other than another wish from Jirachi maybe—but we never really got an explanation on how the player was turned into a human in the first place (which I would absolutely want—did Arceus do it to protect them?), so I think it would potentially work, though I'm sure some people wouldn't be a fan of that idea since being a Pokemon is one of the main premises of the games.
Anyway...you can tell I spent far too much time thinking about this. Feel free to add any more ideas with reblogs or comments, I'd love to hear what y'all think! :)

I’ve been thinking about Steph and cass lately, especially with my recent re-read of Batgirl 2009. You’re totally right in that Steph does not even once spare Cass a single thought or even speak about her at all in the entire run. But it also got me thinking, didn’t this exact scenario already play out except with Tim? I’ll admit it’s been awhile since I’ve read her run as Robin, but I feel like once she got the mantle of Robin (again, taken from someone else- this time Tim) she never really spared him a second thought either. And then when she gets the Batgirl mantle from Cass, she never spared her a second thought. I know that the writers probably did not intend for this sort of characteristic to shine through, but it’s interesting nonetheless that this has happened twice. Does Steph just view people as disposable? Or as extensions of herself? And that’s why the second she gets what she wants from them or can’t get anything more from them, they drop in importance in her eyes and she doesn’t spare them a second thought? What are you views on it? (Also supergirl showing up in the middle was so damn random lmfao, did they have any previous links before that issue? Or even after that issue? I feel a bit bad for Kara that she constantly has to be besties with whoever the newest batgirl is T-T)
That is how I tend to view her, when I'm not taking steps to deliberately soften her character (like with Batgirl, Repentant). She does think about Tim a few times while she's Robin, but it's mostly in passing -- first explaining to Cass why she's in the Robin suit in Batgirl; then because he got a hold of her over the phone, briefly; and then because her last case involved an assassin, Scarab, who was hired to kill people who looked like him. Once that's established, he's out of her thoughts.
After that she thinks of him again in the lead-up to War Games, namely in the "Prelude," from Batman 12-Cent Adventure #1, which is partially an excuse to do set-up/recap flashbacks for anybody tuning into the event who hasn't been reading Batman regularly, but is also when we actually get to see the Incident that kicks off the gang war -- and it's told from Steph's perspective.
Tumblr media
And a little later on when she hears his school got shot up, she's devastated, fully bursts into tears and is terrified that she might've gotten him killed.
That said, her writing in War Games is largely an outlier -- for all the problems with that story (and there are so many problems, don't get me wrong), it legitimately has some of the best, most selfless and heroic characterization Steph has ever been given. It's tragic heroism, but it's still genuine heroism all the same.
The rest of the time... Yeah, she just doesn't really seem to make many connections or think much about other people when they're not directly involved in getting her what she wants. That's the vibe I get, too.
As for Supergirl: they did actually establish that. There was a 4-isuue World's Finest miniseries in 2009 that told one semi-ongoing story but also used each individual issue to team up a member of the new "Batman Reborn" Batfamily up with one of the similarly-revamped "New Krypton"-era Superfam.
Issue #1 was where Tim (as Red Robin) was reintroduced to the 15-year-old Chris Kent Nightwing (and Thara Ak-Var Flamebird). Issue #2 was Damian and the Guardian. Issue #3 had Babs call in Kara to rescue Steph from a death trap and then they teamed up. and Issue #4 had Dick-Bats and Clark come in to bring most of the threads together for a big finale.
The mini overall is... okay, though there's some characterization I'm not fond of, and something about the art style just. Really empathizes how much I fucking hate Steph's ugly Batgirl costume.
(Why. Does she wear her fucking belt so loose. They do it so it'll hang akimbo on her hips but it's made of huge weighted pouches, it'd spin around her waist when she tried to grapple like a goddamn hula hoop!!)

Could I request Kiwi with a netrunner S/O? She’s my favorite character.
Maine's crew with a netrunner reader
Note: Hey! Sorry I haven't got to you faster!! I'm pretty busy on daily basis so most of the time I can only write at weekends!
Characters: David, Lucy, Kiwi
TW: mention of violence
David
Tumblr media
The times you were together were slim in the beginning. For multiple reasons, such as not trusting him because he's an "ex-corpo", and him being afraid of you.
He stayed away from you for the most part, but when you were forced to work together, he was tense around you. Rightfully so.
After a while though, he felt more at ease with you. He would go around, try and help the other on jobs, while you hacked things from afar to help them out/brainfried some guys who were messing with the crew.
One time when he needed to ghost, you hacked a car and sent it to his rescue.
Once he realized he didn't need to worry about you secretly trying to kill him, he started talking to you, even when he wasn't required to.
You started doing little favors for each other. Like him bringing you the gear you needed, and you sending him locations, where he usually found weapons and shards, he could get a use out of.
Some time later the crew started picking up on this, and specifically Maine started teasing and picking at him for it. He even mentioned it to you a couple of times.
When he confessed he was speaking so fast, you couldn't understand what he was saying. He was so red in the face he lost all confidence he built up to confess to you.
But eventually he asked you again, and when you finally understand what he was saying, you laughed. You said yes of course, but he was still pretty embarrased that he couldn't ask you out without messing it up.
Lucy
Tumblr media
Now, Lucy would like you from the get go. For various reasons.
You would be the one to work on Arasaka related jobs, which means she doesn't have to worry more than she already does. You are a pretty chill person. And you know what your doing.
You were there before she was, so you were happy to welcome her to the crew. You were told she was a natural, and if Kiwi is the one to say that, you got no reason to doubt her about it.
Once she got settled in with you guys, she started partying more with you. You would have casually conversations about life or other things, but they were nothing serious.
After some time, you started getting paired up on jobs, and you made a great team. With getting paired up together, came the part where you started getting closer.
Paying extra attention to her, or her watching out for you if she felt something wasn't right.
You were never all that open in public, but you were 'ride or die type' of friends. One of you is in a life or death situation? No problem. The other one goes and saves the day.
A while later Kiwi started noticing the way the two of you got closer. It has been a long time sense you first met, but you always stuck together.
You were surprised when she asked about it. She didn't make fun of you, nor did she judge you. She just simply asked if something was up between the two of you.
When she learned of what was, that was going on between you, she gave you a nod and said you should go for it. So you did.
Since you were conviced that confessing was a good idea, you invited her over late night. You casually mentioned to her that if she was interested, you would take her out on a dinner.
She was shocked at first, but she said yes to it.
Kiwi
Tumblr media
Kiwi didn't care for you all that much in the beginning. She did her thing you did yours.
Sometimes you'd work together, but nothing other than that happened. You'd have talks here and there when you celebrated, or when you were required to. You had your own crowd, and she had her own.
But when you had to work together more frequently, you started having random chat about life, NC and other things in your free time. But you two still didn't interact much.
Sometimes you'd check in with her on the hollo, but you were still more busy with your friends at the time.
After a while you started developing a small crush on her. It was really all that was. You found her hot, and liked her personality, but that was it.
Though she did notice you calling her more often, she did wonder why that was happening but not like she had a reason to question it.
You were never public about your relationship, whether friendship or partnership. So there wasn't anyone that noticed that the two of you got closer.
When it came out that you were interested in her she didn't know how to react.
Her first thought was that you were trying to make a fool out of her, but then again you weren't the one to mess around about feelings.
So she didn't say anything. She just let you explain that, you found her attractive. You offer her a date and hung up.
