Remus Lupin x fem!reader ♡ 870 words
“Ugh, they’re disgusting.” You take a sip of your drink, looking at James and Lily over the rim of your cup. Lily’s eating an ice cream sandwich she’d found in Sirius’ freezer, offering James bites while he traces lines between her freckles with his pinkie. “I want to be them so badly.”
Remus hums. It’s the tail end of one of Sirius’ parties (or his soirees, as he insists upon calling them), and the atmosphere is heavy with a pleasant lethargy. The music is still playing from his record player, some slowish, bass-heavy rock, but most everyone has cleared out, and Sirius himself has fallen asleep on the opposite side of the couch from Lily and James, his mouth hanging open.
“I wonder what it’s like to be in love,” you sigh. Remus turns to you, catching the longing in your look just before you hide it away.
“You’ve never been in love?” he asks you.
You give him a funny look. “No.” You shrug. “I’ve never dated anyone before.”
Remus hadn’t known that. He has to remind himself, again, that he doesn’t know all that much about you. You’re new to their little group, a coworker of Lily’s that she’d started bringing around recently. Remus doesn’t know you very well, but he’s found the learning process surprisingly enjoyable. He likes being around you.
“How’s that?” It slips out before he can think it through, brash and unlike him. He backpedals immediately. “Sorry, that was rude, I only meant that I’m a bit surprised. You don’t have to answer.”
“No, it’s okay.” You give him a smile, infinite in your benevolence. “People just don’t seem to think of me that way. No one’s ever liked me.”
You sound so casual about it, but Remus can’t help but think that must not be a nice way to think of yourself. He’s sure you’ve been considered romantically by plenty of people, even if they never had the guts to tell you about it. You’re lovely. You deserve to know it.
He musters his courage. “I like you.”
You laugh, and he thinks Sirius is going to have to mop his self-esteem up off the floor tomorrow morning as part of his party cleanup.
“Thanks,” you say, “but you don’t count.”
 Why the hell not?
“I mean, I’m glad you don’t mind me,” you go on, taking another sip of your drink, “but it’s different when you’re friends. I meant that nobody’s ever liked me, like, romantically.”
You go a bit shy at the last word, self-consciousness pulling your shoulders almost imperceptibly upwards. Remus forgives your oversight instantly.
“Do you really think it’s so unlikely that anyone could like you romantically?” he asks, refusing to lower his gaze even when you shrink a bit at the question. “You’re a catch, love, trust me.”
You shake your head and smile, frustratingly good-natured. “Easy for you to say, you don’t have to date me.”
“Have to?” Remus’ voice rises incredulously. He glances towards James and Lily on the couch, lowering it. “I would love to.”
“Ha ha,” you monotone, rolling your eyes and raising your cup to your lips.
He can’t believe you think he’d joke about this. He can’t figure out what’s more cruel, the way you keep inadvertently shooting him down or the fact that you seem so heart-wrenchingly prepared to be made fun of. “I mean it.” Remus lets his voice drop into a more genuine register, and something in your look softens. “I would date you. I want to, if you do. You’re far from impossible to like.”
Your lips actually part in surprise. “Seriously?”
“Yeah, I…” He looks over at the couch, but James and Lily are effectively as dead to the world as Sirius, and at the volume you’re both speaking he doubts they’d be able to hear you over the music anyway. “I think you’re really lovely. I’ve been meaning to do something about it, I just…I didn’t know how. But would you want to?”
“To go on a date?” you ask, looking a bit dazed. Remus smiles, but before he can confirm you laugh at yourself, the sound rich and sweet as dark chocolate. “Sorry, that might be a stupid question. I haven’t done this before.”
“I can’t believe that.” He shakes his head, astounded. For a girl like you to never get asked out? Well, it makes things a bit easier for him, jealousy-wise, but objectively it’s criminal. Remus supposes he’ll have to make up for it himself. “But yeah, I’d like to go on a date.”
You nod, smile sticking on your face. “Me too. I’d like that.”
“Good,” he says, finding that your smile seems to have stuck to him too. “Tomorrow, maybe? We could go for coffee.” He looks out the window behind you, where a faint line of gold on the horizon shows promise of sunrise. “I think we’ll both be needing it.”
You laugh again. Remus decides that he likes it better than any song Sirius has played all night. “That sounds perfect. Thank you, Remus.”
He’s not sure what you’re thanking him for. He’s the one who gets to take you to coffee tomorrow. He ought to be thanking you.

“Of course not, Sirius, we’ve been married for years.”
famous interview au oneshot thingy inspired by @sebbianas post which you can find here!!!! read the idea and could NOT get it out of my head until she was sitting in a google doc, and now here. enjoy:
“Now, since you came out in that viral Instagram post…”
Sirius sighs, doing nothing to hide his exhaustion for what he knows is to come.
The original intention behind the whole fucking thing was to stop the constant questions. The:
‘Sirius, you wore a skirt to that event so who are you dating because, clearly, the two have to be correlated?’, ‘Sirius, you’ve always been a bit different’, ‘Sirius!’, Sirius–’, ‘Sirius…’
He’d hoped—stupidly, naively—that to get rid of the ambiguity would get rid of the incessant wondering. Sure, he fucked men, yes, he wore eyeliner and skirts, no the two weren’t really related, now can we please move the fuck on?
No. No, we apparently cannot move the fuck on. The questions and the speculation and, and, and; it’s all still fucking there.
“Sirius, there’s been talk of a relationship with bass player Remus Lupin for a while now. New rumours are sparking since the two of you have been spotted together a lot lately.”
They’re both thinking of those pap pictures leaving the bar last month.
“We were wondering if you could give us the inside scoop?” Greg is staring at him like he’s asking something new, like Sirius is actually very eager to share with the world the complexities of his relationships, as if it has anything to do with his modelling. It doesn’t, if you were wondering. Fucking men has nothing to do with a runway, either, actually. “Really, what is going on between the two of you?”
Sirius has been given press training many, many times, to field these kinds of questions. His agent, Gideon, had him memorise all the correct responses back to front, upside down. Curveball questions, sneaky implications, you name it; Sirius knows how he should respond to this. Hell, it’s on a fucking flash card.
His gut response, the thing Sirius is suddenly incredibly eager to do, is definitely not on a flash card.
However. But, but, and hear him out:
By fucking god, he was bored.
Greg had asked the same ten questions every other interviewer of the last year had asked with the same glint in his eyes as every other interviewer of the last year. Fame was great, but nobody told him it would be this goddamn boring. Repetitive. So many 'yes's and 'no's and 'wouldn't you like to know's.
So, Sirius proceeds, entirely disobeying those oh-so-holy flash cards.
“It would be an honour to give you the scoop, Greg, my dear,” Sirius says with a grin, shoving his hand into his back pocket.
The interviewer’s eyes light up over his mic.
“So-” When Sirius pulls out his phone, the glint is dimmed by confusion. “What-”
“Why don’t we ask him right now?”
There were strict rules about this, phones when live, phones during interviews, etcetera, etcetera, blah, blah. Sirius knew them all as well (see: a different set of flash cards). Sorry Gideon, Sirius thinks as he goes straight to his Favourites. He isn’t sorry.
“Ask… who?”
Sirius just winks. The call is already on its second ring.
On the fourth, Sirius is almost worried Remus won’t actually pick up, but not really. Remus always picks up.
Well, he always picks up when Sirius rings. Once, Marlene had called fifteen times in five minutes before Remus had responded two hours later with a ‘what?’ text. The man stuck true to his self-proclaimed Luddism, after all.
On the fifth ring Greg is looking sceptical. Sirius knows Remus is also working right now. He’d mentioned a meeting with some producer. He remains confident nonethless.
On the sixth ring, the call clicks as it is answered. A beat. And then:
“What?”
Remus sounds entirely unenthused to be answering a call at this moment, voice sullen. Sirius grins anyway, thrilled he’s picked up at all. As if he wouldn’t. As if he doesn’t always.
“And hello to you, too.”
“Aren’t you meant to be on that radio thing right now?”
“We are, in fact, live at this very moment.” Sirius glances back to Greg who, despite being the host, has immediately lost all of his perceived-control. He’s watching Sirius blankly, only vaguely piecing together the fact that it is famed, award winning, world’s greatest (not that Sirius is at all biassed) bass player Remus Lupin’s voice coming through Sirius’ phone. Sirius smirks amusedly at Greg before turning back to the conversation at hand. One that finally fucking matters. “Good to know you’re listening in and supporting me, as always.”
“Believe it or not, I have better things to do right now.”
“You wound me, Moons.”
That nickname did wonders on Twitter when it first became known, Sirius having slipped and referred to Remus as Moony in some other interview some other time. There's a ship name now. There are fanfictions. Sirius reads them aloud as dramatically as he can muster (which is, believe him, very) at the most inopportune times. Usually when Remus is busy, just to watch that cute little frown line in his forehead appear.
“Is there a point to you interrupting my work, and also national radio, with this call?”
“What if I just wanted to speak to you?”
“I will hang up right now.”
A lie. He never hangs up first.
Sirius sighs again, another exhausted thing. “They want to know if we’re dating.”
“Who?”
“They. Everyone. The world. Greg.”
Sirius shoots the host another look, whose look of momentary shock has dissolved into interest. Hunger. This is the scoop, apparently. Like the both of them, Sirius and Remus, haven’t already been asked this question to death.
“Greg?”
“Y’know, the guy with the grating voice on the station that plays the same five pop songs on repeat.” Gideon is going to kill him for that one. Sirius sends another silent apology he does not mean.
“Ah, Greg.”
Greg is frowning now. Sirius grins again.
“So? C’mon Moons, tell us. They’re all waiting eagerly. They want to know,” he repeats.
“They always want to know,” Remus replies bluntly.
“They’re in an extra persistent mood today.”
When Sirius cuts his third look at Greg, he has the audacity to look entirely unapologetic, as if Sirius’ public life as a model translates to that of his private life. As if it makes total sense to badger him for months—no, scratch that, years—on who Sirius is and isn’t fucking, and whether or not, god forbid, they aren’t a female.
“You can’t tell them yourself?” Remus’ voice distracts him from his angry spiral of thoughts.
He could, of course. He has, a million fucking times, given an answer. Sirius even has his flash cards, for fuck’s sake. But this is much more fun.
“Just answer the damn question, Lupin.”
“You didn’t ask a question, Black.”
Sirius rolls his eyes, incredibly aware this is dragging through the interview’s very minimal time slot. Good.
“Are we dating, Remus?” he asks seriously (ha).
A moment of silence. Sirius holds the phone closer to the mic, closer to his own ear. He can’t help himself, he wants to know how Moony will handle this as well. Then:
“Of course not, Sirius, we’ve been married for years.”
Greg’s eyes widen to saucers. Sirius keeps his face neutral, an impressive feat that would rival even Regulus’ own acting skills, if he says so himself, and Reg won a Tony last year.
“Ah, how could I forget?” Sirius says instead of breaking into the laughter that he so desperately wants to roll into a heap with. “My husband.”
“Truly, how could you? Should we consider divorce now?” Remus replies, voice as indistinguishably sullen as always. Sirius knows he’s smiling with his eyes, he can hear it.
“Now that would make the papers.”
“Certainly… Is that all?”
“Yes, yes, go do your music-y things now.”
Sirius can hear the eye roll as well. “Fine.”
Sirius hangs up. He tucks the phone back into his pocket, taking his time. Then, then, he looks back up at Greg. The interviewer is a picture of shock, maybe a touch of confusion; wide eyes, jaw loose with a mouth that hangs, equally wide.
“Well, Greg, how was that for a scoop?” Sirius raises a single, manicured eyebrow.
“Wa– Was he being serious?” the man all but splutters.
“What? No, of course not, I’m Sirius, silly.”
“That’s not–”
“Greg! I’m offended! Do you forget the names of all your guests? We’ve been talking for almost an hour now!”
The longest fucking hour of Sirius’ life, mind you. But the rest of it goes by much faster and much more pleasantly, as Greg struggles to move on from that little show. It makes the dressing down from Gid all the more worth it.
And by the time Sirius manages to check his phone again, emerging from hell (or Studio C, call it what you want) hours later, #wolfstar is already trending on Twitter. He screenshots it, sends it to Remus.
pads !!!!!!!!!
look what uve done  u menace
MOONY ❤️‍🔥😍🌕
Fake news.  Lily and I are planning to run away together, actually.
Sirius huffs a laugh. Sure, fake news.

you’re the northern star
Inspired by this song by Dom Fera Pairing: Rockstar!Remus Lupin x fem!Reader (Modern AU) Category: Hurt/Comfort/Fluff TW: implied alcohol/drug use (really just overdoing it on Remus’ part)
Well, this is different, innit? I was rewatching the Taylor Swift Miss Americana documentary and I got an idea about a rockstar not sure of what to do with himself. Also, this is a really fucking stunning song that I’ve loved and wanted to use for a while. The other lyrics Y/N sings are another Dom Fera song called “Midnights in October”.
Tumblr media
Three rum and cokes and a couple beers in Some lucky drunk stood up, heavy with where he’d been And he held onto someone, and he sung out compelled “You’re why I was right to trust myself”
~~~
Being a rockstar was everything Remus ever dreamed of. The Marauders had kicked off when the boys had all finished school together. Peter had quickly left before they really took off  - unsurprising, really, but no less saddening - quickly replaced, though, by Frank Longbottom, who was, in fact, a better player anyway. With Frank on keyboards, Remus on bass, James on drums, and Sirius on guitar and vocals, the band really began to gel for the first time. Remus and Sirius wrote all the music and lyrics - mostly Remus, really. He could play piano, guitar, and bass, making it easier for him to arrange everything, but Sirius did his fair share. The addition of Frank seemed to symbolize a new beginning for everything, really.
That and James and Lily finally getting together. If James wasn’t so head over heels for the girl, Remus could’ve sworn he’d asked her out just for her connections.
With Lily installed as their manager, The Marauders started to play bigger venues, their songs started getting more streams, and, suddenly, they were releasing EPs, then an album released to stunning reviews and an enthusiastic and ever growing fan base. They were invited on Graham Norton, then played a UK tour, then a US tour, performing on Jimmy Fallon, and Saturday Night Live. Then the Grammys came - Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Best New Artist, and Best Rock Album, all in one fell swoop.
And Remus suddenly realized that that was all he’d ever wanted. All he’d ever wanted...and now that he had it, what was he to do? He didn’t really know. He suddenly felt embarrassed and uncomfortable. He couldn’t write, he couldn’t sleep, he couldn’t do much of anything. He played with the group, but even Sirius got on him for how bummed out he sounded while singing backing vocals. He didn’t feel like he could talk to his bandmates. He started drinking...aggressively, really. When he couldn’t sleep, he would drink to knock himself out, sometimes popping pills to help in the endeavor. Then he’d take pills to wake up, take pills to energize himself to do a show. He knew it was bad, but he felt just numb.
It was an unspoken problem with his bandmates. They knew something was wrong, especially Sirius, who was so furious with him after their last writing session - a session to which Remus arrived late and hungover - that he didn’t speak to him for almost a week unless he absolutely had to. This last leg of the US tour couldn’t be over quick enough in Remus’ opinion. Tensions were high and maybe...maybe he just needed a break? He wasn’t sure. Their Reno, Nevada shows had been sold out and with the weekend over, they’d leave the next morning for Los Angeles. Dropping his stuff at the bus and then going to his hotel room to pick up his wallet, he left the hotel without telling anyone, doubting they’d miss him. James and Lily were...canoodling in their room, Frank was facetiming back home with his girlfriend, Alice, and Sirius was seducing whatever groupie he’d brought back that evening. Remus had tried the groupie route, hoping that feeling something would bring him back to earth, but it just made him feel even more numb, really.
So, he took off. Their hotel was near enough to a bar that he walked over pretty quickly. It was some local place, he didn’t pay the name too much mind, settling at the bar and hoping no one recognized him. It was pretty dark, anyway. There was a little group playing popular music covers on a small stage in one corner, but it wasn’t too busy. Remus asked for a rum and coke, heavy on the rum. The bartender seemed to get the message and Remus quickly chugged back a couple of drinks, asking for a third when the band caught his attention.
“This is a less popular song,” a young woman says while pulling a stool up to the mic, “but it’s one of my favorites. I hope you like it.” The opening chords of the song caught his attention. He watched, transfixed, as the young woman began to sing.
“Oh, oh, oh, oh. There’s a story I tell, really just to myself. Like a prayer I sing to empty shores, so how’s it sound just like yours? How’s it sound just like yours?” she sang wistfully, her pretty voice lilting around the lyrics.
Remus hoped he wasn’t drunkenly imagining things...because he’d written this song. It was one of the first songs released by The Marauders back before...before anything, really. Before they’d turned to rock, even. It was one of the songs he’d recorded with Sirius when it was just the two of them. He’d recorded all the parts in his closet at university, sitting cross-legged on the floor to fit in there with his various instruments, and mixing the parts on his computer instead of writing a paper for his intro to philosophy course.
“There’s a spirit over midnights in October and it sings to you and only you. So, how did I hear it too? How did I hear it too?” She continues to play on ukelele as the rest of the band comes in on piano, bass, and drum, but Remus remains focused on the young woman. Her eyes are closed, but she’s smiling to herself as she sings. She looks so...peaceful. He can’t believe it’s his song that’s made her so...so happy, so wistful. The fans loved the music, sure, but Remus hadn’t seen someone love someting he’d created like this before. He sips his drink slowly, methodically. He doesn’t want to get drunk for the first time in ages. He wants to speak to this beautiful girl. He wants to tell her...he doesn’t know, but he needs to be more put together to talk to her.
“And if we try to say what we need we could be okay. We clearly believe in believing, baby, we’ll try slow, we’ll try slow. There’s a spirit over midnights in October and it sings to you, only you and now I’m singing too. And now I’m singing too. And now I’m singing too.” She finishes the song and there’s a small round of applause, led mostly by Remus. The guitarist steps up to the mic and thanks everyone, announcing the end of the set for the band. The group gets offstage and Remus tries not to seem creepy as the young woman crosses to bar, leaning over it and ordering a Jameson on the rocks.
“I’ll get it,” he hears himself say. She turns to see him and her eyes widen.
“Oh my God, you’re...you’re Remus Lupin,” she almost whispers.
“Yeah,” he shrugs unsure of what to say. He’s still not used to the fans. Thankfully, she doesn’t seem the type to freak out. In fact she looks almost embarrassed.
“I promise I had no idea you were here,” she says quietly, “I would never have played that if I’d known-”
“I loved it,” he cuts her off. “You have a beautiful voice.”
“Um,” she looks surprised, “thank you. I really...um, I’m not really a singer or-”
“Could’ve fooled me,” he teases. The bartender hands her her drinks and she seems to remember where they are.
“What’s your name?” he asks.
“Y/N,” she answers shyly. She looks down at her drink and opens her mouth, quickly closing it again, unsure of what to say. Remus feels the most sober he’s felt in ages. There’s something about this girl that’s warming him. He can feel his heart beating and it’s the most he’s felt in ages.
“Well, Y/N,” he smiles, scooting over and sitting next to her. “Tell me more about yourself.”
“I...what?” Y/N looks at him quizzically. “Don’t you have a show or...groupies to...or something?”
“I don’t have anything to do,” he teases, “except talk to the pretty lady that sang one of my oldest and most favorite songs in a random bar in Reno. So how’s about you tell me everything about yourself, hm?”
She looks at him, head tilting slightly, “Can I get you a drink?”
“A water,” he answers quietly. Her eyes glance for the briefest second at the three empty glasses next to him, but she doesn’t ask any questions. She orders him a water and scoots closer.
“So, my name is Y/N Y/L/N.”
~~~
He said Keep me up, keep me out late Keep me close, I need your faith Keep right where you are ‘Cause I followed this far Like I’m sure that you’re the Northern Star I’m sure that you’re the Northern Star
~~~
“I need a ticket for tomorrow’s show, please,” Remus asks suddenly, not quite expecting the silence that follows. He looks up and sees everyone on the bus staring at him. “What?”
“For tomorrow?” Lily questions, clearly trying not to sound surprised.
“Yes, please,” Remus replies.
“Who the hell do you know in LA?” Sirius asks far more aggressively than Lily.
“She’s not from LA,” Remus answers. “But she couldn’t get a ticket to the Reno shows, so I invited her to the LA one.”
“So there’s a she?” James teases, wiggling his eyebrows. Lily elbows him gently and then pulls her iPad over to her from the box it rests in on the bus. She opens it and clicks a few things.
“VIP, I’d imagine?” she asks without looking at him.
“If you can, that’d be cool,” Remus tries to sound nonchalant. Lily nods and continues typing.
“And what’s the name of this she?” Frank heckles, glancing at Sirius and James.
“None of your business,” Remus replies, trying to hide his smile.
“I will actually need her name,” Lily corrects.
“You can’t just put it under my name?” Remus almost whines.
“Not if you want her in the VIP area,” Lily looks at him mock accusingly. “And from the sounds of things, I assume you do.”
“Y/N,” he tells her, sighing exasperatedly. “Y/N Y/L/N.” He looks back down at his notebook, scrawling down a few ideas he’d had in his head since last night. He and Y/N had talked until the bar closed, then sat outside talking about everything and nothing until he’d had to leave for the bus. The couch shifts as Sirius plops down next to him.
“You writing?” he asks, trying to sound nonchalant.
“Maybe,” Remus shrugs, not looking at him. He can feel Sirius staring at him, but sees him nod out of the corner of his eye.
“You hungover?” Sirius asks quietly.
“No,” Remus clears his throat, finally looking up at his friend. “I’m, um...thinking of taking a break from drinking for a bit, actually.”
“Cool,” Sirius nods, a small smile playing on his lips. “Pills, too?” Remus nods and Sirius practically beams, clapping him on the shoulder and nodding. He stands, heading back to his bunk before turning around, now facing everyone, a shit-eating grin on his face, “So, will you be dedicating every song to Y/N, or...”
Remus throws a pillow at him and pretends to be annoyed, but can’t ignore the genuine joy edging its way back into his numbed heart.
~~~
Three hours in to a three minute call Some gambler wondered if she’d just won it all And she laughed when he asked if his head seemed alright Singing, “I’ve seen the bright side my whole lovely life”
~~~
“How’s the writing going?” she asks, taking a sip of water from her Stanley cup that’s just off camera. Remus leans back against his headboard and groans in response. He’s thrilled when she giggles and he looks back at the screen to catch her smile.
“It can’t be that bad,” Y/N teases.
“It’s not, actually,” Remus replies. “Album’s due to the label in about two months and we’ve finalized all but two songs in terms of lyrics. So that’s two left to record? Not too shabby since it took us so long to write the damn thing.”
“That’s amazing. More songs about...oh, what’s that new one I loved? Um...the one about Aperol?”
“’Spritz’ was more Sirius’ baby than mine, I’ll have you know,” Remus explains, “but I’ll tell him you like it, he’ll rub that in my face for ages.”
“Maybe he’ll hate me less for distracting his bassist,” she quips.
“No one hates you, darling,” Remus assures her. “If anything they’re just happy I’m smiling again.” It’s getting dark outside his window and he leans over to turn his lamp on.
“I’m sorry,” Y/N says suddenly. “I shouldn’t be keeping you up. I know the time difference is-”
“Hey, hey, hey,” he cuts her off, sitting up straighter, “I wouldn’t answer if I didn’t want to talk, love.”
“I know, but we were just going to say goodnight and then-”
“We both know,” he tilts his head teasingly, staring at her through the webcam, “that we weren’t going to just say goodnight.”
Y/N rolls her eyes but smiles, “There are better ways of telling me I talk too much.”
“I’d love it if you could talk to me all day long,” Remus assures her. “And you know that.”
“I’d like that, too,” Y/N whispers, smiling gently at him through the webcam.
“Really?” Remus asks, sitting up slightly.
“Yeah, there’s all this stuff that I want to tell you throughout the day...and I’d text you, but then I feel dumb for texting you-”
“You can text me whenever, you know that,” he reminds her. She giggles and his heart soars.
“I’ll keep that in mind when you finally get annoyed of me sending you pictures of my morning smoothies,” she teases.
“Smoothie time? Babe, I’d be heartbroken if I missed it!” She laughs and he uses the warm feeling in his chest to talk about what he’s wanted to for a few weeks now. “But...but what if...what if you were able to talk to me all day?”
She freezes, eyes growing wide, “What do you mean?”
“I know that we...I know we haven’t been together all that long,” he begins. “But, I would...I’d really like it if you’d be my girlfriend. And I’d...I’d love it if you’d come here and just be with me. You can still pursue your music here...I know that you’re...”
“I’d do it,” Y/N replies quietly.
Remus’ heart does that thing that it’s done since the moment he saw her. It feels like it’s expanding in his chest.
“Really?”
“How soon do you want me there, lover boy?”
~~~
Three weeks away from a year since the score And the reckless thieves reckoned they could get even more They ain’t casing out weddings, nah those are too big a sight They’re just looking at dresses and rings that she likes
~~~
It’s warm in the Ed Sullivan Theatre, but Stephen Colbert is easily the nicest host Remus has ever had the pleasure to meet. Despite the fact that he agreed to letting them present the new song instead of playing the lead single, Remus is still nervous.
“Three more weeks, dude,” Sirius whispers to him.
“Yeah, I know. How’s James holding up? Ready to get married?” Remus jokes, leaning back so James can hear him, whispering even though they’re on a commercial break.
James isn’t annoyed, though, he grins hugely, “Never been more ready, boys.”
“No, not that, I mean, yeah, but, you and your girl,” Sirius corrects. “One year, right?”
Remus beams himself, “Yeah, just about three weeks. Our anniversary’s, like, two days after the wedding.”
“You, um...you thinking about it?” Sirius hedges, passing side glances with Frank and James.
“About what?” Remus asks with faux innocence.
“Come off it,” Frank groans, rolling his eyes. He and Alice got married during their last break, just before the release of this new album, timing it perfectly before the madness kicked back up again.
“You guys gonna be copying everything from me and Lily’s wedding?” James teases. The boys laugh, but Remus just smiles. He glances around and spots you talking to Lily, probably going over your set list. You’ll be opening for The Marauders in most cities during this next tour. You’re a bit more indie pop than The Marauders, but the boys genuinely wouldn’t have it any other way. And the fans will likely love how you close with one of Sirius’ and Remus’ oldest songs, bringing the boys onstage with a tune of their own.
Seeing that you’re distracted, he turns back to his band, his oldest friends and whispers conspiratorially, “No...no, but, um...I mean, I’ve had the ring for about six months now.”
All three men turn and face him, eyes widening, jaws dropping.
“Dude-”
“WHAT DO YOU MEAN?”
“Six months?!?!?”
“Chill,” Remus whisper yells. “I’m gonna ask when we go to Paris after the tour’s over.”
“That’s so romantic!” Frank whispers, turning away as a cameraman signals for them. James smiles and sends him a thumbs up.
Sirius stares at him for a moment longer and smiles. He mouthes, “Happy for you, dude” as Colbert introduces them.
“Back stateside for their new tour, the British rock band The Marauders is with us tonight. Originally they were going to perform the newest lead single from their new album, which Rolling Stone has called, ‘a near perfect sophomore album’, but their bassist, Mr. Remus Lupin, emailed about a week ago and asked if he could perform a bonus track. This is a bit different, isn’t it, Remus?”
Mr. Colbert looks to the band and a camera zeroes in on Remus, a kind PA holding a mic up to him.
“Yeah, it’s not...not really a rock song, I guess,” he grins as the audience titters.
“It’s called ‘Northern Star’,” Colbert says, smiling widely at him.
“Yeah, yeah,” Remus nods.
“When we started writing, Sirius and I, we had a lot of songs that sounded like this. And it took someone very special,” Remus finds Y/N’s eyes and his smile deepens, “to remind me how wonderful it felt to write like this again.”
“Well, please take it away,” Colbert finishes.
Remus nods and looks down at the piano, pulling the attached mic closer to his face as silence falls over the audience. He can feel Y/N staring at him, not expecting this at all.
“Three rum and cokes and a couple beers in Some lucky drunk stood up, heavy with where he'd been And he held onto someone, and he sung out, compelled ‘You're why I was right to trust myself’
He said Keep me up, keep me out late Keep me close, I need your faith Keep right where you are Cause I followed this far Like I'm sure that you're the Northern Star I’m sure that you’re the Northern Star
Three hours into a three-minute call Some gambler wondered if she'd just won it all And she laughed when he asked if his head seemed alright Singing, "I've seen the bright sides my whole lovely life"
She said Talk me up and talk me down Talk too long, I'll stick around Talk me into following you somewhere far Like I'm sure you're the Northern Star I'm sure you're the Northern Star
La la la
Three weeks away from a year since the score And the reckless thieves reckoned they could get even more They ain't casing out weddings, nah those are too big a sight They're just looking at dresses and rings that she likes
They said Keep me up, keep me out late Keep me close, I need your faith Keep right where you are Cause I followed this far Like I'm sure that you're the Northern Star Oh, I'm sure you're the Northern Star I'm sure And I'm sure that you're the Northern Star.”
Remus hits the last chords staring at Y/N, hearing his friends playing his beautiful song all around him, and knowing that he’s happier than he ever thought he could be. Rockstar be damned, this is what he’d always wanted.
~~~
A/N: This is different, but I hope you liked it!
Didn’t include my taglist because it’s been so long, plus this is a different fandom! Love you all xx

Priest!Remus Wolfstar List ☾✩☽
☾ I haven't read all of these, but I'm archiving them here so I know where to find them when I want to read, including a disproportionate amount of fleabag aus ☽
Teeth Full Of Sin - E, 6k
sin /sɪn/ an immoral act considered to be a transgression against divine law: “a sin in the eyes of God” Vampire Sirius, Priest Remus; what could go wrong?
Forgive Me, Father - T, 2.5k
Remus is faced with temptation after temptation after Sirius moves in.
Take a Shot of Holy Water - M, 73k
A year after cutting ties with his family and taking steps to improve his life after coming to terms with his role in the tragic death of his best friend, Sirius Black reconnects with his past at an engagement dinner for a friend he thought he’d lost and the family he’d left behind. There he meets a priest named Remus Lupin, who is about to change the course of his life forever. or, a fleabag series 2 au
The Shape and Sound of God - E, 38k
This is a love story. a fleabag (season two) au. “We’re not going to have sex,” he says softly. Sirius coughs out a laugh. Bites his lip and looks out to the water, looks back at Remus. Scrapes his fingernail over the sad sprog of green growing through a seam in the bridge wall. “We’re not?” he asks. Remus smiles. “No. We’re not.” “Not even - are you sure?” he asks, his heart beating, beating; it hurts in his chest, a metal door knocker against his ribs. He’s out of breath, he’s running down a highway for this man, he’s scraping his knees on the bitumen. Remus turns to him and he’s a heartbreak waiting to happen, and Sirius keeps telling himself it’s just sex.
God Doesn't Make Hot Priests - M, 3k
Sirius loses a bet and dresses as a sexy nun for Halloween. He meets an incredibly attractive Priest during his night out.
Dear Your Holiness - E, 142k
During the week of his father's funeral, Sirius Black meets an unusual priest and offers to help write Orion Black's eulogy. At the same time, he's started texting a mysterious bass player from a pop-punk band that he accidentally swapped phones with. Eventually, the conversations between the two start to blur together and Sirius has trouble trying to decide which one he's falling for the hardest. (one of my personal fav wolfstar fics EVER, you should read!!!!!!!!)
Love & Blowjobs & Other Sacred Things - E, 77k
Two strangers meet in a loud and dingy club. It's love at first sight, except the few mitigating circumstances. Namely, that Sirius is married to God, Remus is a minister, love is complicated, and religion is even more so. OR In which Sirius is a priest, Remus is a preacher, Lily is a badass, and James is confused. (maybe this one is cheating since SIRIUS is the priest... you should read it anyway)

Dear Your Holiness (142.264 words) by @mollymarymarie Rating: Explicit Relationships: Sirius Black/Remus Lupin
modern AU, Priest AU, band AU Summary: During the week of his father's funeral, Sirius Black meets an unusual priest and offers to help write Orion Black's eulogy. At the same time, he's started texting a mysterious bass player from a pop-punk band that he accidentally swapped phones with. Eventually, the conversations between the two start to blur together and Sirius has trouble trying to decide which one he's falling for the hardest.
Comment: I didn't know I needed Remus as a catholic priest in my life but I'm so glad this fic made me reconsider that. Holy shit, this fic was so good, it's genuinely one of my absolute favorite fics I've read this year! I've been binge reading mollymarymarie's fics recently and all of them are amazing, but I especially loved this one, with all the yearning and delicious slow burn and Remus as a hot priest, Moony as the hot bass player and Sirius just (rightfully) thirsty for both. Also I just ADORE Harry and Teddy in this fic!
Obviously the theme is not going to be for everybody, but if you think you'd enjoy reading about Remus as a hot priest and haven't read this one yet WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR, GO READ IT
(Also, there's a spotify playlist to go along with the fic and I've been obsessed with it, it's A++).

modern dorlene hcs!!
Marlene:
loud. always. she said it kept her brain at bay. she liked to yell and shout and draw attention to herself.
blonde hair that gets fucking everywhere. everywhere at all times. catches on things, too, like dorcas' rings.
really bright brown eyes.
fastest runner in her elementary school and high school. VERY fast.
tall. 6'2
smart but she doesn't apply herself as a way of rebellion against her family.
neglectful, abusive family that she runs away from when she's fifteen.
her phone background is actually a picture of her and remus, not her and dorcas
closest with remus out of anyone. lived with him when she ran away. they were extremely codependent and didn't have an boundaries. james and dorcas accepted that they were a package deal
90s grungey style. a lot of flannel, ripped clothing, leather, patches.
violent. it was an unfortunate habit from her family. she would get very angry very fast and it transferred to violence, though she tried to never hit her friends and she NEVER hit dorcas.
had a running bet with remus over who would get their braces off first when they were thirteen. (she lost but says she won)
lots of tattoos. one of those people who didn't really have meaning for said tattoos. she just likes the look.
tons of piercings- about eight or nine in each ear, eyebrow, tongue, septum, nose.
musical lover. hope lupin introduced her to all her favorite musicals.
has dorcas saved in her phone as 'side-ho #1'. dorcas knows and loves it.
swears a lot. the marauders, valkyries + dorcas made a swear jar to stop her swearing so much.
jewish convert, conservative jew.
got with dorcas when she was eighteen. once they did get together, they were very close and very in love.
touchy with remus and dorcas. not with anyone else.
designer fr tho. she makes her own clothes and makes her friends' clothes, too.
smokes + she has a lighter with a dumb design on it from remus.
steals remus' clothes 24/7.
looms over people menacingly.
very severe adhd. has a habit of being distracting as shit, forgetting to eat, a hatred for certain sounds and feelings, and hates overhead lighting.
candles. all the candles.
knows how to shoot a gun and often does go to a shooting range.
part spanish and french, speaks both languages.
dyslexic.
will eat anything someone puts in front of her. from nachos to fajitas to escargot- she'll eat it all.
really strong. can lift about 450
trust issues.
hockey player.
multiple concussions.
partially deaf due to repeated head trauma from said concussions and abuse from her parents.
Dorcas
she's tiny, literally 5'0 on the dot and so she makes evan and marlene get her things on tall shelves.
gets really anxious sometimes and bites her nails because of it. pandora does complicated nail art on her nails so she feels bad biting them.
flexible as shit.
very feminine, which makes people assume she's straight.
makes her own jewelry and creates a small business of it at her high school. she makes a small fortune off her earrings.
big on romance movies, cries at them. loves horror movies, too, doesn't flinch.
resting bitch face, 100%
lives in a trailer with her dad. mom ran away when she was, like, two months old.
can play bass.
eyes so dark they're almost black.
has a tattoo on her wrist for her dad. it says 'i love you' but in his handwriting.
marlene left her hockey jersey at dorcas' place one day and now dorcas wears it to sleep.
loves to take pictures, has a lot of really embarrassing, weird photos of her friends, family, and marlene.
really good at baking, can back anything. god awful at cooking.
plant mom
fairy lights everywhere in her room.
at one point sold weed to help with the money at her place. now she does it for some extra money.
HUGE activist. got into a lot of trouble at school for it but then barty would be louder and more violent about her getting in trouble and cause a riot.
cold, all the time, no matter what.
big reader, bonded with regulus, lily, and remus over it.
atheist number one but will go to shul with marlene if she asks, specifically the high holidays.
farmer's markets, vintage festivals, and art stores are where she spends all of her money.
loves to paint but there's not enough room in her trailer so she paints outside while her dad reads beside her.
pineapple pizza is one of her favorite foods.
barty, evan, and dorcas hang out together and dye their hair with each other. regulus and pandora do not participate and hang out together elsewhere.
is super, super close with her dad and she tells him everything.
steals barty's clothing because she likes his style and men's clothing is more comfortable.
draws on her converse and marlene's leather jacket.
worships minerva mcgonagall. the art teacher.
scared of flying.
gave herself a lot of her own piercings.
Dorlene:
they have 'design dates' where marlene sits and makes clothes, and dorcas works on her jewelry/works on new art.
nauseatingly affectionate sometimes.
that one picture with the girl straddling the other one and doing her makeup. that's them.
flat is always super loud- marlene playing music and them dancing, working on their university assignments and their work.
marlene spends a lot of nights at dorcas' trailer and becomes best friends with her dad because of it.
marlene does bring donuts or coffee for them all the time.
shit talk people but in sign language.
dorcas comforts marlene during nightmares and marlene comforts dorcas during anxiety attacks.
never explained they were dating to their friends, one day just kissed goodbye and everyone just went with it.
marlene picks her up and carries her places (the doctor, cause dorcas is scared of the doctor and refuses to go)
dorcas bakes marlene cookies and muffins when she's sick.
dorcas cheers marlene on at all her hockey games, even though she finds hockey dumb.
dorcas takes marlene to vintage stores and markets and marlene always ends up carrying whatever dorcas buys.
marlene takes dorcas to shul with her on the high holidays and makes snide commentary about the people at her shul. dorcas tries learning hebrew to at least be able to follow along. doesn't work super well but marlene appreciates it anyway.
take turns deciding what movie go watch together. marlene likes action/adventure and dorcas loves a dorky romance movie.
marlene takes dorcas to italy to visit marlene's older brother. make solid plans to move there one day/honeymoon there.
road trip together with them and their friends.
can definitely do the dirty dancing lift.
had picnics on the balcony at their flat all the time. marlene used her candles to make it more atmospheric and dorcas' plants also helped.
kinda broke until marlene's fashion and designs hit it big.
femme x butch, fr tho.
dorcas used petnames all the time. marlene always got flustered and dropped what she was holding.
marlene learned how to style dorcas' hair, how to do braids and stuff like that so she could do dorcas' hair.
very in love, cutest couple ever, and kind of losers with each other.

🌙 howdy all, i am formally re-entering my marauders/harry potter phase like a debutant returning to the ball scene. 23, nb, in the cst timezone looking for another 20+ roleplayers to write their sirius black against my remus lupin. anti-jkr, pro-fanon tomfoolery. some general plot ideas i have bellow:
standard hogwarts shenanigans. relationship build-up, lots of angst and character building as they both navigate adolescence and a budding queer relationship. very sweet, very hurt-comfort filled.
lie low at lupins. i want to see those old men kiss and remember what it feels like to love/be in love. re-learning what it was like to be remus-and-sirius rather than the werewolf and the convict. also lots of potential for angst.
the marauders become hogwarts professors. a very silly au where they have to balance both their personal and professional lives, which is very difficult when you are not very professional in the first place.
generic sports au. be that hockey/skating, basketball, volleyball, etc. i’ve seen these popping up all over tiktok and they itch the part of my brain that’s still in its pretty boy anime phase.
band au. remus is the stoic bass player while sirius is the show-stopping frontman type? my dream. relationship hiding, potential jealousy plots, and some funky little outfit inspos. this plot is all about the vibes.
spiderman!remus au. secret identities, fearing for each others’ safety, and a mandatory upside-down smooch. this one can either take the traditional mj/spidey route or have that deadpool/spiderman element. blending the franchises as a treat.
college/coffee-shop au. let barista remus have some weird chemistry with the one guy who comes into this prestigious university’s starbucks every night. the contrast between the trust fund baby vs the scholarship student. a tale as old as time. v legally blonde.
generic muggle-born au. this is the vaguest option, but i do like the potential for social media-based stuff. maybe they attended the same all-boys school ala dead poets society or work shitty jobs near each other. maybe we go the historical fiction route, who knows. this one is vague, but an option.
and i’m open to many more! if there’s something you’re absolutely dying to write, i’m open to that too. as for the more formal stuff, i’m a literate/novella writer. however, i’m open to more experimental styles like letters or text messages. nsfw friendly for 18+ characters. plotting is one of my favorite parts of roleplaying. as you can probably tell, i’m very chatty and i would prefer if my partner kind of matches that energy. love love love sharing headcanons, swapping pinterest boards, and creating playlists. i am primarily a discord writer, so if this is something you might be interested let me know by liking this post. i’ll reach out as soon as possible!!

would anyone be interested in a marauders discord rp server?
i've made one and it's a fame au and the only taken character is james (me)
the desc is "it's 2023 and the marauders are the most well known band in the world! at only 18, they rose to fame two years ago while they were four 16 year olds in a garage band! the band consists of: sirius black, the lead singer and guitarist, remus lupin, the bass player, peter pettigrew, the keyboard player and finally, james potter, the drums player. this follows the lives of them, their friends and family all while trying to get away from the nasty daily prophet articles!"
tagged my followers under the cut <3

what do u think about marauders band aus personally i think its So funny that some people think remus twig man lupin could hold an instrument and be entertaining on stage 😭 rockstar sirius on the other hand......😳
see i DO enjoy a band au from time to time but on the strict condition that remus is on bass. i can picture him as a bass player standing very still and looking down and attracting very little attention to himself while james and sirius are up the front providing the entertainment...he does not have the stamina for drums nor the showmanship for singer/lead guitarist. he is content with just getting on with his bass guitar off to the side i dont think any other instrument is for him :-/ he could not have a solo career he is simply too lame and boring <3 ALSO have to take this opportunity to recommend loml laura @dykesiriusblack 's r/s band au a sawn off shotgun ft bassist remus....band au of all time most definitely ft no phone celebrity remus lupin as god intended!!

wolfstar fame au
the fame au is here!! and she's kind of insane!!
your 'lectric eye on me, babe | iMayBeObsessed
Remus pinches the bridge of his nose, muttering for perhaps the third time that day, "It's a wonder we're as successful as we are." "I don't know," Sirius replies under his breath, just loud enough to catch Remus' ears, "you seem to have a couple selling points." "Like dumb-arse drummers?" "Like cute bass players." Remus cuts him a sideways glance, the echo of a smirk on lips Sirius is trying not to look at (he's failing). "You think the bass player is cute?" Sirius turns his gaze to his drink. "I've heard things. It's all over Twitter, you haven't seen?"
OR: remus lupin is a bassist for 'where wolves?', the rock band currently taking the world by storm. sirius black is a model dealing with the 24-year-long headache that is his family. both of them find each other to contend with. the world watches every moment unfold.
AKA: a love story that's a bit of a mess, made so by its three messy points of view: remus john lupin, sirius black and the media.

Week 25, part one
a stranger walks into a bar by @weighty-ghosts
Rated T. 5k. Wolfstar
Remus unexpectedly runs into Sirius and they finally open up about the strain the war has put on their relationship... The only problem is that Sirius doesn’t actually know he's talking to Remus.
The PB to my J by @aqua-myosotis
Rated E. 63k. Wolfstar | textfic
A Modern AU Marauders texting with prose fic set at University. Mainly Wolfstar - Will they? Won’t they? (They obviously will...) And a little bit of Jily too.
Probably the fourth time I’ve read this one.. I needed some comfort and I always go back to one of the (many) text fics I’ve read and loved then. This one is funny, sweet and chaotic - always a good go to.
Something to Talk About by modernminimalist

Harry finds a phone at the inter-school unity dinner. Harry is a GriffIdiot. Draco is a Slytherin. They definitely don't know each other...right?
For Rémálom's Challenge (series) by itsylva
Rated T and G. Total 14k. Wolfstar
Five stories, written for a challenge, that follow Sirius and Remus from the first time they talk over text until the first time they say 'I love you'. Modern Marauders AU, where Remus chose to be home-schooled and thus never met the others at Hogwarts.
Thanks to @stars-and-scars-recs who recommended this one.
Dear Your Holiness by @mollymarymarie
Rated E. 142k. Wolfstar
Its been a week of re-reads and this one is a safe go to. It’s one of my absolute favorites and even tho I’ve read it multiple times before I love it just as much each time. Remus as a priest is everything and @mollymarymaries writing is always magical.
keysmash by @wishingitwerewolfstar

Sirius texts a wrong number, Remus faces some fears, and things get better.
We’ll Make It Out Alive by wolfstar_addict417
Rated T. 27k. Wolfstar | textfic
Remus Lupin has a ritual where he texts his best friend’s phone number when the pain of missing her gets to be a little too much. Even though he knows he will never get a text back. Except one day he does. Little does he know that Sirius Black is about storm into his life when he needs it the most.
[Sidenote: as you may notice this week - Im in a mood for text fics and if you’re like me, and love text fics, you should check out @elder-millennial-trash text fic rec list. Every fic on her list is worth reading at least twice]
