Ahsoka Tano & Ursa Wren
The Promise
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Story Summary: One night before the Purge of Mandalore, Ursa Wren makes a desperate plea to Ahsoka Tano.
“Lady Tano,” called Huyang. “There is a call coming through for you. It is labeled urgent by the sender.”
Ahsoka Tano opened her eyes, coming up from a deep meditation. Ill tidings could be felt through the Force and her dreams of late had been filled with fire and death.
She rose slowly from the training floor within her T-6 shuttle; the lights were dimmed inside at her command, the only sound being the quiet hum of the engines as they traveled through hyperspace. Grabbing a night robe from the nearby worktable and slipping it on, she walked into the cockpit, giving a nod to Huyang.
He switched the comm channel open. A hazy blue light began to emanate from the instrument panel before sharpening into the image of a familiar figure.
It was Ursa Wren, the mother of her padawan, Sabine Wren. The Countess of Clan Wren stood tall and proud, garbed in her beskar armor, but her face was noticeably more lined and wearier than Ahsoka had ever seen it.
"Hello, Ahsoka," she said. Even exhausted, the Mandalorian's eyes burned with a tenacity that the Jedi found intimidating, despite her years of experience as a warrior.
Ahsoka, hiding her surprise, adopted a neutral tone. She wasn't particularly close to Sabine's mother; Sabine had warned against it, considering the subject of her Jedi training was a touchy subject with Ursa.
"Hello, Ursa," she replied. "I take it you have news?"
Ursa nodded. "The Clans are preparing for war."
Ahsoka grimaced. It was to be expected but she had thought the Empire would not be so bold as to move against Mandalore this late in the war.
But Moff Gideon was no ordinary servant of the Empire. There were no lines he would not cross to please his master.
"No word from Bo?" asked Ahsoka. She knew that Bo Katan, leader of Mandalore, had gone to meet with Moff Gideon as a last-ditch effort to stay his hand.
The Mandalorian shook her head. "None. I cannot tell you if she is being held hostage or worse."
She paused. "I think this attack, Ahsoka," she finally said after a long moment, "will be the worst Mandalore has seen in generations. I think this will be the end."
Ahsoka sucked in a breath. "What do you mean, Ursa?"
Ursa smiled bitterly. "I think this is the death of us all."
"Mandalore," Ahsoka argued, "has survived worse. It survived Maul."
"We had a Republic and a plucky young Jedi who helped us out of that particular situation," Ursa remarked wryly. "We have none of those now."
"Sabine and I can be there within a day," Ahsoka said. "I'm nearby - "
"No." Ursa's statement struck Ahsoka with its finality, stopping her from finishing her reply.
She blinked in shock. "No? You don't want us to help?"
Ursa took a deep breath and closed her eyes before replying. "Correct. I want you to keep Sabine far away from Mandalore."
Ahsoka leaned back in her chair and folded her arms. She stared at the hologram for a moment, thinking. Ursa was an experienced warrior, just as she was; she had seen action during the Clone Wars and had fought alongside her and Bo Katan in re-taking Mandalore from Maul. Ahsoka knew better than to doubt her judgment.
If Ursa thought this was the end of Mandalore, then it was.
"That will be a difficult task," Ahsoka pointed out. "You know how stubborn Sabine is. She will want to help."
Ursa snorted. "I trust you can handle her. You've been keeping her in line so far."
"Barely," Huyang said from beside her. Ahsoka turned in her chair to glare at the droid. He shrugged.
"What if I leave Sabine behind and come to you by myself? Surely - "
"No!" Ursa shouted. "I want you beside Sabine when this goes down. Without you there to stop her, she'll find a way to Mandalore and she will die. I will not see her die here!"
"Ursa," Ahsoka said firmly, "Sabine is your daughter. Her place is by your side. With her family. With her clan!"
Ursa's smile was sad. "Not anymore. Our paths diverged a long time ago. She has a new family now."
Ahsoka shook her head. "She would disagree. The Ghost crew is not a replacement for you, Alrich, and Tristan."
Ursa stared at Ahsoka. "Listen to me closely, Jedi. I am not asking you to do this. I am telling you. You are to keep my daughter safe and away from this madness."
Ahsoka narrowed her eyes. "I don't take orders from you, Mandalorian."
"This," seethed Ursa, "is the natural order of things. Sabine will realize that someday."
"Sabine will - ", Ahsoka started to argue but was cut off.
"Oh, she will rage," Ursa interjected. "She will be furious, I know. She will grieve. But, most importantly to me, she will be alive. This is how it should be. When I lost my own parents to a civil war between clans, I felt the same way; I raged at the cruelty of the universe, at its unfairness. And do you know how it answered me?"
"How?" Ahsoka asked quietly.
Tears in her eyes, Ursa said, "It told me that it was better that I should lose them, rather that they lose me. It told me that it had seen grief a thousand times over, since the first star bloomed to life in the darkness of space; that it had seen countless children lose their parents to senseless tragedy. I was no different. And that is how it should be. That is how it always should be; that children bury their parents and mourn for them and not the other way around."
Ahsoka just sat there, listening to her words.
"I will not," said Ursa, her voice quavering, "bury my daughter. I won't. I refuse to lead her to a certain death. As her mother, who raised her to never run away from a fight, it kills me to deny her. I would love to have her fight by my side one last time. But, also as a mother, I cannot allow it."
"What about Tristan?" Ahsoka countered. "Is he not your child also?"
Ursa grimaced. "He's already here. I cannot dissuade him from his choice, no matter how hard I try. He refuses to leave."
She looked away for a moment. "I raised him too well. He is a Mandalorian, through and through."
Ahsoka looked at Ursa, seeing the tears stream down the woman's face. "She won't take your decision well," said Ahsoka.
Ursa shrugged. "I'm used to it. Sabine hating me is nothing new."
"No," Ahsoka said, suddenly feeling tired. "Sabine never hated you. You've never seen her hate."
Ursa raised an eyebrow in surprise. "I haven't?"
Ahsoka smiled. "She's not capable of it. There's too much good in her."
Ursa smiled back. "I wonder where she gets that from."
Ahsoka snorted. "From you, Ursa. And Alrich."
"You don't know us that well," Ursa pointed out.
"I know Sabine," Ahsoka replied. "And I see the best of you within her."
Ursa was silent in the moment after Ahsoka's comment. "You'll do it, then?" she asked, her voice rough. "You'll keep her away?"
Ahsoka sighed. "Yes. I will. I promise. I'll leave your involvement out of it, as well."
Ursa cocked her head at Ahsoka. "You don't have to do that. She'll be furious with you."
Ahsoka shrugged. "I can handle it. I'm no stranger to anger."
Ursa nodded. "I can see that," she acknowledged. "And . . . thank you."
"You're welcome," replied Ahsoka. "And this isn't a good-bye. Nothing is certain. You can still survive this."
"I will try," Ursa promised. "Unlike you Jedi, that is all we can do." She paused again, hesitant.
"Something else?" Ahsoka offered.
"You'll stay by her side? Continue her training?" asked Ursa.
"Of course," said Ahsoka.
Relief eased into Ursa' rigid stance. "Good. She has a promise to keep, after all. Between you and the Bridger boy, once you find him, I think she'll be alright."
Ahsoka quirked an eyebrow. "You like Ezra, don't you?"
Ursa frowned. "Don't be ridiculous. Sabine likes him. I tolerate him, on her behalf."
"You approve of their . . . relationship?" asked Ahsoka carefully. She wondered how much Ursa had intuited about Sabine's feelings for her lost friend.
Ursa shrugged. "A Jedi and a Mandalorian are a unique pairing. Never heard of one before. The songs that will be sung for them are sure to be legendary."
She glanced at Ahsoka with a knowing look. "Bridger cares deeply for my Sabine. He has already sacrificed much to protect her and the people he cares for. And he is an excellent warrior, courtesy of his Jedi training. I can ask for nothing more in a life partner for my daughter."
"Yes," Ahsoka murmured. "I'm sure." She does know.
Privately, Ahsoka found it amusing that many people around Sabine seemed to know about her and Ezra before she did.
Ursa turned to the side, listening to someone speak from off-screen. She nodded and turned to face Ahsoka once more, her expression grim.
"Time to go?" asked Ahsoka.
"It is," Ursa responded somberly. "If the worst comes to pass, please tell Sabine that . . . I'm sorry. I don't regret the decisions I made to protect her, but I regret the cost that came with them. I was grateful that she came back and the time we spent together since then. And that I'm proud of her and all she has accomplished. And, also, that I . . . "
Ursa stopped there, uncertain of what to say next. Ahsoka said, "She knows, Ursa. Everything you've said, everything you're going to say - Sabine knows already."
The Mandalorian nodded. "This is hard," she observed.
"What is?" asked Ahsoka.
"Letting go," replied Ursa. "I don't know how you Jedi do it."
"It's never easy," said Ahsoka quietly. "Some never really master it."
"I see," said Ursa. "I wonder if I would have made a good Jedi, then."
"If you survive this," Ahsoka joked, "come see me for training."
Ursa grinned at her. "I don't know if you could handle both myself and Sabine as apprentices, Master Jedi."
And she ended the call on that note. Ahsoka stared at the space where Ursa's hologram had been for a few seconds and then bowed her head, feeling the weight of what was to come already pressing down on her.
Huyang, turning to look at her, asked, "Should I wake Lady Wren?"
Ahsoka turned in her chair to face towards the door that led to her padawan's room on the shuttle. Inside, Sabine was sleeping soundly.
Ahsoka thought for a moment. "No," she decided. "Let her have one more good night's sleep."
Tomorrow, Ahsoka thought, she might wake to a nightmare.

this was such a cute idea, i hope you enjoy!!

summary: stranded on the middle of a planet you don't know, you decide to make the most of your sudden free time, but cody isn't quite sure how to relax.
clone troopers masterlist || join my 3k celebration!!
Smell the Wildflowers
It seemed strange to say, but you were having a pretty good time being stranded on a random planet with no communication to the rest of the galaxy. Sure, you had no idea when you would be rescued or if anyone even noticed that your ship was missing, but there seemed to be more than enough food and water around in the nearby village, plus whatever tasteless rations and Republic credits had been stockpiled in the storage containers on the vessel. To you, this was a much needed break from the stress and terror that you faced every day, working for the GAR as a pilot while they battled the Separatists in the name of the Republic.
To your companion and superior officer, this trip was nowhere near as relaxing as you would have liked. Cody was pacing circles around where you were laying in a field of grass, staring up at the bright blue sky and trying to figure out what shapes you could find in the clouds. “You’re making me dizzy,” you commented after what felt like the millionth time he had walked through your field of vision. “Why don’t you sit down for a little bit?”
“Can’t,” he said, stopping to look down at you. “I need to be ready if something happens.”
You raised your eyebrows at him. “What’s going to happen all the way out here? No one in the galaxy knows this planet even exists, and the closest village is a twenty minutes walk from here. It’s okay to stop for a little while and relax while we figure out what we’re going to do next.”
“If we don’t figure out how to get word back to the ship, we may be stuck here for good.”
“Cody,” you said seriously, sitting up and looking at him. “Tell me, is all your pacing helping you come up with an idea on how to get us out of here?”
He was silent for a few moments before shaking his head. “I suppose not.”
“Waxer, Boil, and General Kenobi have probably noticed that we’re not at the rendezvous point by now, and the flagship can trace the path of our ship,” you said. “Right now, all we need to do is stay here until we hear or see anything.”
Cody sighed as he sat down next to you. You could tell this was killing him, because he was so used to always having the answer to every problem. But unfortunately right now there was nothing you could do until help arrived.
As he laid down and closed his eyes, you got up and began to wander the field. It was mostly made up of a soft grass that felt like pillows as you laid on it, but you could see patches of wildflowers scattered across the plains. Shades of yellow, blue, pink, and white, they added splashes of color to the sea of green.
You couldn’t remember the last time you were able to stop and pick flowers, and you couldn’t resist sitting down next to a particularly large patch of them and gathering up your favorites. They smelled sweet and slightly sharp, and you wondered what they were called, though your present company definitely wouldn’t know the answer to that question.
You couldn’t help yourself as you glanced over at him, the yellow and white plastoid of his armor sticking out among the grass. Looking down at the flowers in your hand, your lips curled into a smile. “Hey Cody!” you called.
“What?” He wasn’t mad, but the version of him you affectionately referred to as “Commander Grumpy Pants” was starting to come out (it was a name of Waxer and Boil’s creation, and you had instantly latched onto it as well).
“Come here and pick some flowers with me!”
You didn’t know what he was going to say in response, because it wasn’t as if you were incredibly close with him. You’d be lying if you said that you didn’t want to get closer with him (and that you maybe wanted a little more than friendship), but for now a professional relationship was all you had.
But much to your surprise (and happiness), Cody pulled himself off the ground and walked over to where you were sitting. He raised his eyebrows as he looked down at you. “What are you doing?”
“Picking flowers, silly! Come on, join me!”
“Why?”
You held out the small handful that you had already collected and he took them, the dark yellow and white blooms contrasting against the black gloves he wore. “Because this color matches you, and you need to stop worrying so much about things you can’t control, because you’re giving me a headache even thought I’m all the way over here.”
To Cody’s credit, he didn’t offer a rebuttal, instead sitting down across from you and starting to pick a few flowers of his own. He preferred the blue and pink ones, you noticed, and it seemed almost comical to see the small pile start to grow on the leg of his armor. This was the man you’d seen launch himself at droids in the heat of battle, knowing there was a feral growl hiding underneath his helmet, and yet here he was delicately collecting a small pile of wildflowers with you.
“Why aren’t you worried about being rescued?” Cody asked, breaking the comfortable silence.
You paused for a moment before answering. “I am worried,” you said. “But I tried not to show it because I didn’t want to stress you out too much.”
He chuckled. “Was it really that obvious?”
You smiled. “Go back and look at where I was laying before, I think there’s a ring of dirt from the amount of times you walked in circles around me.” Your teasing tone drew another quiet laugh from him, and you smiled as you watched his face soften, the worry in his eyes dissipating just a little bit. “But like I said before, I trust the general and the other troopers, and there really isn’t anything we can do right now but enjoy the tiny break we’ve been thrown into.”
“I suppose you’re right,” he said. “It feels odd right now, not having to do things constantly.”
Your smile turned slightly sad at his admission. He (and the rest of his brothers) didn’t deserve the life they had been born into. “One day this will all be over,” you said. “And you’ll be able to slow down like this every day.”
“I think you’ll need to show me how to do that,” he said.
“I will,” you promised, not missing the sincerity in his voice and the implications that his words held.
Mirroring your earlier actions, he held a small bunch of flowers out to you and laid down in the grass after you took them. “Why don’t you start now?” he said. “I think we might be here a while.”
You couldn’t contain your giddy smile as you laid down next to him and started pointing out shapes in the clouds, making up stories about the tookas, ships, and people you picked out.
You kept this one to yourself, but you could have sworn you saw a heart shaped cloud hovering right over the two of you. For a few fleeting moments, the galaxy weren’t in the middle of a war, and all you could you do was hope that this feeling lasted as long as possible.
- the end -

“I didn’t know how truly beautiful it was here.”
Ahsoka looked out in awe of the tall city surrounded by even taller snowy mountains. Ahsoka had never been on Alderaan, not knowing what to expect, she was more than pleasantly surprised.
“Oh yes, I love when stone reaches out of the ground, how unique!” [Name] teased, earning a weak elbow in her side.
“Shush. I’ve never been here before, and honestly I would like to be here more. Nice people, beautiful setting, sign me up.” Ahsoka smiled out at the mountains again before turning back to her best friend, [Name].
“We should go. Gotta make sure those supplies get delivered!”
[Name] only nodded and smiled in agreement before racing off with Ahsoka. The two were on Alderaan to deliver supplies to the people, a job of which was getting more and more dangerous as the war waned on. As the separatists got stronger and consequently, more annoying, they favoured getting in the way of Republic business, which unfortunately including moving necessary supplies to planets in the Republic. [Name] and Ahsoka were sent to overlook the shipments in place of a Jedi Knight.
“How is the delivery going General?” [Name] asked.
“All is as it should be. Great work, you two!” General Organa smiled, looking over the two girls.
From just behind General Bail Organa came a man and what appeared to be his son. The boy appeared to be their age, and had a friendly, inviting smile on his face. The two smiled warmly at the general and two girls.
“General.” The man and the boy nodded at General Organa.
“Ah yes. Ahsoka and [Name], this is Lieutenant Khoan Brimen,” He gestured to the man.
“-and his son, Tannor Brimen.”
Tanner reached his hand out to shake, a soft smile on his face.
“Hello, Ahsoka.” He said as he shook her hand, she smiled and nodded back.
“And hello to you too, [Name].” He said with a smile, but instead of shaking her hand like he did with Ahsoka, he grasped her hand and brought it up to his lips looking right in [Name]’s eyes.
A crimson blush spread quickly over [Name]’s cheeks. Shaking her head to hide, she smiled and said a quick hello back, a wave of embarrassment and discomfort washing over her. Ahsoka didn’t miss a thing, watching the whole endeavour she didn’t know what to do with herself, nor of what just happened.
“Alright,” General Organa smiled. “Why don’t you three go inside and get some food, it’s been a long day.”
As the three walked to the dining room, it became quickly apparent to Ahsoka the order of which they were walking. [Name] was sandwiched between Ahsoka and Tanner, leaving room for both parties to interact with [Name] easily.
“How long have you been here?” Tanner asked, looking directly at [Name].
“We haven’t been here very long, only a few hours.” [Name] smiled in Tanners direction quickly before looking forwards again.
“We shouldn’t be here very long, we have important Jedi things to attend to back on Coruscant.” Ahsoka stated shortly, not sparing a glance towards the boy on [Name]’s right.
“Well, you two are welcome to stay as long as you would like.” He said before looking at [Name] again, “I wouldn’t mind getting to know you more.” He winked the continued forwards. It was only a few moments more before they had made it to the dining room.
It was an open room with plenty of space for all that would visit on business. They had an open bar and what looks to be a buffet. [Name] and Ahsoka made eye contact before making a beeline to the buffet. They tried to have some casualty as they made their way there, but ultimately failed.
The buffet, as they found, had a range from bubbling soup bowls to rare meats native to Alderaan. Ahsoka and [Name] tried to get a little bit of everything, a challenging feat due to the sheer amount of food there was in front of them.
They soon had their plates and were about to find a table when Tanner waved them over.
“Hungry?” Tanner laughed, he’d never seen such an eagerness to the food on his home planet, they were not known for their food.
“Not particularly, we’ve just never had this many options.” [Name] answered politely.
It was true, at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant they had majority of the same thing every day. Though it was for the most part enjoyable, many of the Jedi Padawans were anxious to try something new. [Name] and Ahsoka included.
“[Name], I have to say, “ Tanner started before looking down at the table as if he was shy.
“You really caught my eye when you landed.” Tanner finished looking directly in [Name]’s eyes, catching her off guard.
“Oh, was it the lightsaber? I didn’t really think they were that on display. If they were intimidating, I really do apologize. That was never my intent.”
“You could never intimidate me. Fear your beauty? Maybe. But you, no. You’re too kind.” He smiled, a taken look in his eye as he rested his hand over [Name]’s.
All Ahsoka could do was roll her eyes as he openly flirted with her best friend. Ahsoka hadn’t thought too much about it, being that it was [Name], how could one willingly look away from her. But all of the longing looks, continuous touches and blatant flirting was proof enough that this was a more than a small crush for Tanner. Tanner was truly taken with [Name]. Something about him didn’t sit right with Ahsoka, didn’t like the way he was flirting with her best friend.
“You are too kind, but thank you, really. Tell me, what do you do with your free time?” [Name] replied.
It took all of Ahsoka to keep from clenching her fist. Why was [Name] buying into it? Why was his hand still on [Name]’s?
“That’s a good question,” Tanner’s mouth moved into a toothy grin that made Ahsoka uncomfortable. Why did he look like [Name] just fell into his trap?
“-well, you see, I do a lot of volunteer work here on Alderaan, I like helping the people. And since my dad is a lieutenant, it makes it easy for me to help in many places. But I suppose in my free time I like to play Sabacc with my dad.” Tanner smiled what seemed to be a genuine smile, looking right at [Name] again.
“My favourite thing to do though, is hike.” Tanner smiled rather wide.
“I can imagine the hiking trails around here are quite nice.” [Name] commented, seemingly missing the emotion in the look Tanner was giving her.
Ahsoka, on the other hand, did not. In fact, from the moment that they sat down at the table, she had been noticing every look and touch that would pass between the two. And although mostly one-sided, she didn’t miss the smiles [Name] was giving. What was happening? Why were they so close all of a sudden? It seemed like it was only a few years ago that Ahsoka and [Name] were younglings training together every day. Eat, sleep, train; all in the same group. The two were inseparable. Sharing a cot, trading lightsabers every few days to mess with the Jedi Masters, holding hands as they walked. It all seems so long ago.
As Ahsoka watches the two converse, an unpleasant emotion bubbles in the pit of her stomach, a feeling that causes Ahsoka to lose her appetite. Pushing her plate away, she rests her head in the palm of her hand as she looks out on Alderaan, still listening to the two behind her.
“Yeah, that was the best hiking trip yet!” Tanner laughed as he finished his story.
“Seems like it! I don’t think I have ever had even close to that much fun on a hiking trip!” [Name] laughed, holding her belly from the pain.
“You should come on a hike with me sometime!” Tanner proposed.
“I might have too! From your stories, they sound like fun!” [Name] smiled again before turning to Ahsoka, consequently moving her hand from under Tanner’s, wondering where she had been in the last few conversations.
As [Name] was about to say something, Tanner started, pulling [Name]’s attention from Ahsoka back on to him.
“Your hair is very beautiful, could I touch it?” Before she could answer, Tanner was already running his hands through [Name]’s beautiful [H/c] hair.
Although Ahsoka was still looking away, she could hear everything perfectly. The sound of Tanners question to the sound of his hands in [Name]’s hair. At this point, she was fed up with his forwardness and fondness with [Name]. How dare he put his hands in [Name]’s hair. Hair that she was all too familiar with. From as long as she could remember to now, Ahsoka has always been the one to braid her hair, apart from maybe Master Kenobi. In the morning and at night, Ahsoka would run her hands through [Name]’s hair at her request before carefully braiding it. Ahsoka felt as if her heart hurt from this wave of nostalgia. Ahsoka was lucky when she heard from both her and [Name]’s com-links that it was time for them to leave.
Ahsoka looked up at [Name] to find her already looking back, the look on her face unclear. They both quickly shared a look of understanding before quickly replying to the com.
On the way back, Tanner was making small talk with what seemed to be the two of them, although Ahsoka was uninterested in conversing with him. As they made it to the ship they started on their goodbyes. General Organa thanking them dearly, sharing a hug with [Name] before they started up the ramp.
“Wait!” Tanner quickly called out.
“Tanner? What is it?” [Name] asked, concerned.
“Just this.” Tanner answered before pulling her in for a really quick kiss on the cheek. He looked down and smiled before turning around and practically skipped back to his dad. [Name] stood there stunned. They all waved as they started to take off. It wasn’t until they were several klicks from the ground that [Name] came out of her apparent trance.
She walked around the small cargo ship until she found Ahsoka, which wasn’t hard as her presence in the force was overwhelming at the moment. Ahsoka was sat in the passenger seat practically seething. Her eyebrows knit tight, her shoulders tense and slumped, and her head facing the floor, seemingly in a staring contest with the ground.
“Hey Ahsoka? Are you alright? You seem upset and you were awfully quiet while we were in Alderaan.” [Name] eyebrows were knit in concentration as she tried to work out what was happening in her head, the feeling of Ahsoka’s frustration in the force was troubling.
Ahsoka took a deep breath through her nose, and tried to breathe out slowly but it came out as more of a huff. In a calm voice, Ahsoka spoke: “I am fine, [Name]. Don’t worry about it.”
“Of course I will worry about it! You’re my best friend!” [Name] argued, albeit weakly. Ahsoka was silent for a moment so [Name] took that as an opportunity to speak.
“Ahsoka, whatever is troubling you, I just want to help. I-” [Name] stopped herself, as if coming to a realization.
“Oh my force. You like him! I am so sorry Ahsoka!” [Name] paced in front of Ahsoka anxiously.
Ahsoka looked up quickly. “What, no.”
“Oh and he was talking to me the whole time.”
“[Name], stop.”
“I am such a horrible friend! How could I do this to you!”
Ahsoka grabbed [Name]’s shoulders, forcing [Name] to look in Ahsoka’s eyes.
“[Name], I don’t like Tanner. I like you.” [Name] went completely still. That was all it took. That was all it took to make [Name]’s world flip on itself. Ahsoka likes her. Ahsoka likes her. Ahsoka who she has been in love with since they were younglings. Ahsoka who would braid her hair everyday she could. Ahsoka who would hold her hand at meals and spend nights together talking under the stars. A warm feeling bubbled in [Name]’s stomach; not an unfamiliar one, but welcomed all the same.
“You like me?” That was all [Name] could manage out.
“Of course I like you, love you even.” That was all she had to say before [Name] was grinning from ear to ear.
“You like me!” [Name] exclaimed before pulling her best friend of forever into a kiss. A kiss that lasted a beat, but meant the universe to the two padawans. A kiss filled with unspoken words and promises. When they separated, the two were grinning like mad men.
“I am guessing you like me too?” Ahsoka asked sheepishly.
“Like you?” [Name] grasped Ahsoka’s hands into her own.
“Ahsoka, I love you. I have loved you since we were younglings.”
“But you and Tanner?”
“Tanner? Oh, Force, no. Never. We are just friends.”
“He didn’t seem to think so.” Ahsoka huffed, an amused look on her face, although a stroke of jealously flashed across her face.
“Oh yeah, like at the end where he played with my hair and then kissed my cheek.” [Name] shivered. “Yeah, I didn’t love that.”
“[N/N], he was flirting with you from the moment you two were introduced.”
“Oh.” [Name] grimaced.
“Also, what was that about him kissing your cheek?” Ahsoka glared at what [Name] could only imagine was where she thought Alderaan was.
“It doesn’t matter anymore. You can kiss my cheek now, if you want. To replace it.” [Name] smirked. Ahsoka rolled her eyes before fulfilling her request and planting a soft kiss on [Name]’s cheek.

hiii hello, i started reading gilded constellations a few days ago and i love it sm so far!!!! your writing really makes me feel like im in the story and that is very rare for me <33

very excited to keep reading your work even tho i might stop reading when voldy moldy gets too close to the lovely james, lily and harry…… i cannot deal with the heartbreak
ok love u sm, hope you’re doing well!!!!
Hey, my love! I'm happy you're enjoying GC! It's quite a binge now, isn't it?
Sometimes I check the world count on AO3 and then check books (like actual printed ones) that have a similar world count and I GASP bc... how is it possible I've written so much? Where do so many words come from?
Chapter 17 has been one of my favourites to write, hope you're having a ton of fun while reading, darling!
I don't think there are many spoilers out there in my asks, but maybe avoid some of the pictures, since those have a bit more spoilers, although they're kind of mild ᥫ᭡
In regards to Voldy getting close to the lovely Potters, I'm not sure GC will reach that point in time, the original idea was for it to end somewhere along the 1980s (after they finish school), but at the same time, with how invested I am now, I'm considering writing more, like a book 2 sort of deal if that makes sense?
But I totally get you, I also do not want to deal with the heartbreak bc bro I'd have to write it and I swear writing the reader being upset actually makes me feel upset ૮꒰˵• ﻌ •˵꒱ა (and that's from someone that enjoys writing the drama).
I guess only time will tell for now...

Checking reception... One... Two... Three...
Reception appears to be great. It seems as though our dear people at the Matriarchy tried to trace the origin of our transmission. Luckily, our friends managed to counter their attempts by scrambling our transmission vector to a bunch of unrelated galactic states.
Let's turn on the live feed.
Tumblr media
Good afternoon, Orassian nation. Erhrdra D'Kara here on behalf of 'People's News Republic'. Our sacred mission is to bring you unbiased coverage and deep-dives into the authoritarianism and lies propagated by the regular state media.
On today's agenda are the mass protests happening in almost every major city on Prophet's Promise: Gharêph, Shêsyŋ, Atasaŋ, Yellidzõkh, Êshõkh, Yeŋabh, and most definitely the capitol city of Atêraghr.
The Enforcer clones of the Matron Council are rounding up any person they could find even remotely related to the protests into unmarked vehicles with no registration numbers. The abundant CCTV coverage installed since the Matriarch came to power certainly plays into their paws with tracking any dissidents. Where the people are being taken is still unclear.
Underground groups, such as the recently popular 'Orassian Liberation Front' and the 'Insurgent Priesthood Organization' vow to locate the kidnapped civilians and give them freedom they have been deprived. The mood among the people is nothing short of outrage, however all relevant groups understand they must remain composed and ready.
For the purposes of protecting the intelligence services of involved groups, we will publish any recent information within two standard days. We encourage all civilians interested in the safety of themselves and their relatives to do the same and report all relevant information on the Enforcers' movements to the OLF or the IPO.
Stay vigilant and watchful for the next few days, and do not panic. It is what the Matriarchy wants of us: a fearful and submissive flock. Let us not give into fear and false information.
That is all for today. There will be more exclusive coverage coming next, so stay tuned. This has been 'People's News Republic'.
Truth to the people.
May it guide us away from the darkness.

Congratulations on finishing Light of the Jedi. I know you said you already had a reading order, but since I disagree with some of the ones I've seen, I decided to give you my thoughts on where it's best to go next. If you want to go straight into the "main" story next is the YA novel (which really just means it's shorter) Into the Dark. But you can't really divide them into main and side stories, characters and events of significance cross over between them (well there are some stories that are fully side, but that's none of these). So if you want the full experience, you'll want to read everything. Alternately is the middle grade book released on the same day as Light of the Jedi, A Test of Courage (again really this just means it's even shorter). Finally you can read issues 1-5 of High Republic Adventures 2021. I think you'll really like this one, the main protagonist is a black wlw. The main protagonist of the 2021 Marvel comic series is also a black woman, but you should read Into the Dark before starting its first arc. Comics are stupid expensive, and do not give the creators royalties, so hmu for a way to get them for free
omg thanks sm! yeah after sleeping on it ill definitely do into the dark next! I got my reading order from here:

Naminara (ナミナラ, Naminara)
Name: Naminara Republic ( 나미나라공화국) (naminala-gonghwagug)
Human Name: Im Sun-Hi (임선희)
Age: 5-6
Gender: Female
Birthday: March 1st
Hair Color: Brown
Eye Color: Brown
Height: 115.57 cm (3'9.5")
Appearance
Naminara Republic is young girl with waist length brown hair typically braided and tied in a red bow, with a flyaway curl on the left side of her head and is used to represent the overall shape of the small island micronation that she represents. She dresses in a hanbok with a light green jeogori and a soft blue chima, attached to the jeogori is a yellow goreum.
Personality and Interests
Naminara is your typical upbeat social butterfly with a heart of gold, willing to befriend folks around her that come to visit even though at times she finds it a tad difficult. Along side being a bright and upbeat child her position as a tourist Micronation can cause quite the dip in her social battery.
She has a select few people she considers friends outside the folks that visit her from other counties, that being Japan and her older brother figure South Korea. Naminara cares deeply for her older brother and aspires to be like him one day, and as for Japan, she looks up to him greatly and treats him with all the respect she can muster and tries her best to be formal with him despite her lack of vocabulary.
Naminara has a deep interest for music, art and creative writings, alot of her home is based on aspects of all three put together into one big fairytale island, and with that she would always try to express her creativity in ways that are understandable to her and to the eyes of the beholder.
Despite all this her communication skills aren't always well put together, as there are days where she struggles to speak with others directly, and sometimes shuts herself away temporarily so that she could recharge and take some time to herself (though she still finds it nice when those she holds close come to visit her in these moments.)
Relationships
Korea
Naminara considers Korea to be like an older brother figure to her, she spends most of her time with him and cherishes these moments spent greatly. She's always beaming whenever he comes to visit and loves the stories he would bring to her.
She holds Korea very close to her heart and aspires to be like him one day, even if there are differences between the two, and even if she's claimed cultural independence from him, she still finds him to be an amazing inspiration to her deep down in her heart.
Japan
Naminara met Japan through Korea introducing her to him, she was a little intimidated by him at first but slowly opened up to him more as time went on. Japan is another person that she looks up to and considers him to be a very honorable character, she always wonders what more she can learn from him and hopes that he could visit her more even if for a little while.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I love her sm, and for the longest time I've been meaning to give her a proper character description. I'm sorry if some things might be wrong and I'll try my best to continue learning in order to continue developing her.
Also a lot of her relations will be based around how Korea (in canon) feels about the others and how he would introduce her to them.
Regarding this post of yours: https://www.tumblr.com/leonorandsofia/707699529963782144/i-saw-a-tiktok-video-explaining-leonor-might-not?source=share
I'm Spanish and I have to say that while most people are republican in Spain, most of them are not strongly republican (they don't go to protests or are loud and simply do not care).
I firmly believe that most people consider themselves Republicans in public because the political climate in Spain is tense and while the situation of the monarchy is not as shake y as one thinks, declaring yourself in support of it is basically painting a target on you for people to call you a fasc*st. I mean, my best friends have almost said so to me when I said I prefer a parliamentary monarchy, and not only are they informed of my political ideology (which doesn't resemble fasc*sm in anyway) but they are also my best friends.
So I think there is a big number of people who just doesn't care but feel compelled to publicly state they are republican. Mind you, I'm not very strongly monarchic (if the monarchy was abolished I would probably feel a bit bad about the Royal Family because at the end of the day they have given their lives for us) so I wouldn't cry or protest in hopes of reverting, but I think that considering the current politicians in my country, placing any of them as head of state would be catastrophic. Do I like the fact that at the end of the day nothing 'qualifies' a monarch to be head of state (I mean, they didn't win the position in anyway, it was handed freely yo them)? No.
But I think that having a head of state that
1. Is non-partisan
2. Has a good relationship with other heads of state since they are young, and if not good and close then a cordial one by virtue of sharing milestones together
3. Will be guaranteed and provided a good education and preparation for their position.
4. Provides more political stability since it's not a person that might be changed every 4-5 number of years since the position os normally held during the lifetime of the individual (and even when there's an abdication, it takes place after several years: Albert II ruled for 19years, Beatrix for 33 and Juan Carlos for almost 39)
Is more advantageous than what a republic might offer. I think the fact that the head of state is not elected is a sacrifice worth making.
But if I were to say that in Spain, I would be called a fasc*st...
Thank you so much for taking the time to write this + sending it to me!
I am not really sure what else to say because I feel like you’ve worded everything really well and I’m sure some of my followers will be interested in reading this perspective! Please feel free to send anything else regarding how the RF is viewed in Spain & I’ll post it. You know way more than I ever could.
OPINION: ‘DI BA HOLIDAY NGAYON?: Ang Hamon ng Holiday Economics sa Kinabukasan ng Pilipinas
Tumblr media
Photo credit: Julia Intrepido
Inilabas ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. noong ika-16 ng Nobyembre 2022 ang Proklamasyon 90 na binabago ang mga petsa ng tatlong opisyal na holiday para sa 2023. Dito, inanunsyo ni Marcos ang Enero 2 bilang karagdagang special non-working day. Mula Abril 9 naman, na pumapailalim sa isang araw ng Linggo nitong 2023, inilipat ang taunang paggunita ng Araw ng Kagitingan sa Abril 10, isang Lunes. Ang taunang petsa ng Bonifacio Day ay Nobyembre 30 na pumapailalim sa isang Huwebes, ngunit ngayong 2023, ginunita ito noong Nobyembre 27, ang pinakamalapit na Lunes sa orihinal na araw nito. Sa paggamit ng “prinsipyo ng holiday economics” nagdagdag si Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ng isang karagdagang espesyal na araw na walang pasok at inilipat ang dalawang holiday sa Lunes upang makabuo ng mas mahabang katapusan ng linggo. “There is a need to adjust these holidays pursuant to the principle of holiday economics wherein a longer weekend will help encourage domestic travel and increase tourism expenditures in the county,” ayon kay Marcos Jr.
Hindi kay Marcos Jr. nagpasimula ang biglaang paglilipat ng mga araw ng pistang opisyal. Taong 2007, termino ni Dating Pangulong Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, isinabatas ang Republic Act 9492. Ipinakikilala ng proklamasyong ito ang konsepto ng movable holidays. Nakasaad dito na kung ang pagdiriwang ay papatak nang Miyerkules, iuurong ang obserbasyon nito sa pinakamalapit na Lunes sa araw ng holiday. Kung sa Linggo naman ito papatak, ang kasunod na araw ang ituturing bilang holiday. Mayroon pang isang talaan sa website ng Official Gazette na nagpapakita ng listahan ng mga regular holiday ng bansa; at kataka-taka dahil tila hindi itinuturing na mahahalagang araw ang Rizal Day, Bonifacio Day, maging ang Araw ng Kagitingan. Bakit ang Lunes na pinakamalapit sa mga petsang ito ang itinuturing na holiday, hindi ang mismong araw na nangyari ang mga makasaysayang kaganapang ito? Sa paglipat ba ng mga opisyal na petsa ay nagagampanan ang esensya ng pagdedeklara nito bilang opisyal na holiday sa simula’t sapul? Maliit na usapin lamang ba ito, na basta’t maisipan ng pangulo na gusto niya ng long weekend, magpapasa na siya ng batas para baguhin ang tamang araw ng pagdiriwang ng isang holiday?
Hindi ang ekonomiya ng isang bansa ang kaniyang esensya. Lahat naman tayo ay naghahangad ng maunlad na Pilipinas—abot-kaya ang mga bilihin, mababa ang presyo ng langis, malaya mula sa mga kadena ng kahirapan. Ngunit ang ekonomiya lang ba ang marapat ikonsidera sa bawat desisyong pinipili ng pangulo? Sa aming opinyon, ang kasaysayan ng isang bansa ay ang kaniyang kaluluwa. Ang daan-daang taon na lumipas, ang libo-libong kuwento, ang ‘di-mabilang na sakripisyo ng ating mga bayani ay hindi karapat-dapat limutin para lang bigyang-daan ang isang araw na mas malaki ang kikitain ng mga malalaking kumpanya. Sabi nga ni Jose Rizal, “ang hindi marunong lumingon sa pinanggalingan ay hindi makakarating sa paroroonan.” Paanong makauusad itong bayan kung hindi niya kinikilala ang mga taong nakipaglaban para sa kaniya? Lalong nagiging malabo ang kinabukasan—darating ang araw na dahil sa batas na ito, makakapagliwaliw nga tayo sa SM kasama ang ating pamilya, ngunit hindi na makikilala ng ating mga anak ang mga bayani ng ating lahi gaya ni Andres Bonifacio. Alam man nilang araw ng kapanganakan niya ang Nobyembre 30 dahil nakasulat sa teksbuk at itinuro ng kanilang titser, ngunit mababatid nating hindi nila ito gugunitahin, sapagkat taun-taong magbabago ang araw ng selebrasyon para sa holiday na ito. Ngayong taon, noong Nobyembre 27 ipinagdiwang ang kaarawan ni Bonifacio; ngunit sa susunod na taon, Nobyembre 25 ang ituturing bilang araw ng paggunita. Hindi ba’t talagang nakakalito? Natiyak naman na ng mga historyador ang araw ng kapanganakan ni Andres Bonifacio, ngunit nag-iiba taun-taon ang araw ng selebrasyon. Hindi ba sapat ang paggalang natin sa bayaning ito upang gunitahin nang maayos, sa mismong araw lamang, ang kaniyang kaarawan?
Tunay na nakakapagpabagabag ang mga problemang madudulot ng holiday economics sa ating bayan. Sa bawat pagkonsidera at pagpapauna natin sa ekonomikong kalagayan ng bansa ay siya namang pagbagsak ng pansariling pagkakakilala ng mga mamamayan sa kasaysayan. Malaking papel ito sa pagpapanatili ng pagkakakilanlan natin sa ating sariling kultura at upang maitaguyod ang pagkakaisa sa mga Pilipino. Ang pagtalakay sa koneksyon sa pagitan ng nakaraan, kasalukuyan, at hinaharap ay magbibigay-daan sa atin na maalala at mailapat ang kasaysayan sa ating pang-araw-araw na buhay. Ang kawalan ng sapat na pakialam at koneksyon sa mga nangyari sa ating nakaraan ay maaaring magbubunga ng historical amnesia.
Ang historical amnesia ay ang sadyang pagpapatuloy ng maling salasay sa kasaysayan. Ito ay isang sitwasyon kung saan maaaring mabaliktad ang dalawang panig—ang nang-alipusta ang nagiging mabuting bida at ang mga naalipusta ang naging masamang kalaban. Dahil sa amnesia na ito, nauudlot ang pangangalap at pagkaalam ng mga tao ng kabuuang impormasyon ukol sa kasaysayan, sapagkat mas nananatiling litaw at buhay ay ang salaysay na konvinyent para sa mga taong may makasariling political agenda. Ang kasaysayan ay dapat na isang kaalaman at isang salaysay na taglay ng lahat. Ang kamalayan ukol sa ating sariling kasaysayan ay makakatulong upang makita ang mga epekto at sanhi ng mga pagkabigo sa lipunan at matuto mula rito.
Nang tanungin ang dalawa sa mga teen housemates ng reality TV show na Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) kung paano kinikilala ng mga Espanyol ang tatlong Pilipinong pari noong 1872 na sina Mariano Gomez, Jose Burgos, at Jacinto Zamora, sa pagkuha ng pahiwatig mula sa mga unang pangalan ng mga pari, isang housemate ang sumigaw ng, “Marjo!” Nang lumabas na mali ang kaniyang sagot, ang karibal niya ay mabilis na sumagot naman ng “MaJoHa!” Matapos ang inisyal na pagtawa, unti-unti, mapapaisip ka: Ano na nga ba ang mga tinuturo sa mga kabataan ngayon? Bakit ang simpleng pangalan ng mga taong bahagi ng ating kasaysayan tulad ng GomBurZa ay hindi na alam ng iba? Makikita rin sa mga naging tugon ng mga PBB housemates sa iba pang mga katanungan na may kaugnayan sa kasaysayan na nangangailangang mapabuti ang sistema at kalidad ng edukasyon, lalo na sa pag-aaral ng Kasaysayan ng Pilipinas. Gayunpaman, ang PBB episode na ito ay isa lamang sa maraming indikasyon ng learning crisis sa bansa. Ang pagsasanay sa mga estudyante na aralin ang sarili nating kultura at kasaysayan ay higit pa sa pagsasaulo lamang ng mga pangalan, petsa, at lugar ng mga naratibong nakakaapekto sa kasalukuyang panahon. Ang mga digital tools, gaya ng social media, ay maaaring makatulong sa pagkuha ng atensyon at interes ng kabataan, upang maengganyo silang pag-aralan ang mga kaganapan noong unang panahon. Marapat nating gawin ang lahat ng paraan, upang mapanatiling relevant at hindi tuluyang mawaksi ang kahalagahan ng kasaysayan mula sa ating sistemang pang-edukasyon.
Matatandaan din ang usapin ng World War II comfort women na matapos ng 70 taon lamang lumitaw at napatunayan dahil sa takot ng mga babaeng biktima na magsalita sa gitna ng isang mundong pinamumunuan ng kalalakihan—sino ba naman ang makikinig sa kanila? Ang simbolo ng katapangang ipinakita ng mga babaeng isinatinig ang kanilang mga napiping boses upang ikwento ang malalagim na kaganapan noong panahon ng digmaan ay umantig sa damdamin ng mga Pilipino. Ang matapang na pagsasabi ng totoo ng mga babaeng ito ay ultimong nagbigay-daan sa pagtataguyod ng mga sining ng paggunita sa kanila, gaya ng dulang Nana Rosa at isang estatwang pinangalanang “Filipina Comfort Women.” Ngunit noong 2018, palihim na inalis ang monumentong nagsilbing alaala ng kanilang masidhing pagtitiis. Pero bakit? Bago alisin ang estatwa, kinontak di-umano ng Japanese Embassy ang gobyerno upang ipahayag ang kanilang concern—marahil ay dahil sa pag-aalalang baka masira ang kanilang reputasyon at relasyon sa bansa sapagkat patuloy na ipinapaalala ng rebulto ang kanilang mga kalupitan noong digmaan. Ang labanang ito ay markado sa bawat nasyon at hindi kailanman mabubura sa kasaysayan, kaya’t hindi magandang simbolo na pumayag ang pamahalaang ipaalis ang kaisa-isang bagay na, paglipas man ng maraming taon, mananatiling nakatayo bilang paalala. Hindi man tuwirang inamin ng Dating Pangulong Duterte ang kaniyang bahagi sa desisyong ito, ang mismong pagsang-ayon niya na ayos lamang na mahugasan ang dugong nasa kamay ng mga Hapon sapagkat nagbayad naman na sila ng milyones ay tanda na handa ang mga pinuno nitong bansa na ipagkanulo ang taumbayan kapalit ng pera.
Ang kalaunang pagkalimot ng taumbayan sa mga bayaning nag-alay ng buhay ay sumasalamin sa kawalan ng respeto ng gobyernong hinahayaang mabaluktot ang kasaysayan ng nasyong ito.
Dagdag pa rito, dahil sa proklamasyong ipinatupad ni Arroyo, mas napadali ang pag-aamyenda ni Marcos Jr. tungo sa pagbubura ng isang napakahalagang pangyayari sa kasaysayan ng ating bansa: ang EDSA Revolution. Inilabas ng Palasyo ang Proklamasyon Blg. 368 na nagsasaad ng opisyal na national holidays, non-working days, at special non-working days para sa susunod na taon. Nabanggit dito ang selebrasyon ng Chinese New Year (Pebrero 10), All Souls’ Day (Nobyembre 2), Feast of the Immaculate Conception of Mary (Disyembre 8), ngunit wala ang komemorasyon sa ika-38 sanang anibersaryo ng EDSA Revolution. Ang ibinigay na paliwanag ng Administrasyong Marcos sa pag-aalis ng EDSA Revolution Anniversary bilang isang holiday ay papatak ang Pebrero 25, 2024 sa araw ng Linggo. Wala raw saysay, ni sosyo-ekonomikong dulot, kung idedeklara pa ito bilang isang special non-working holiday. Rest day naman daw ito ng mga manggagawa, sabi nila. Tama naman sila. Ngunit sapat ba itong dahilan upang tuluyang alisin ito sa listahan ng mga holiday? Hindi patas sa mga bayani noong Martial Law kung aalisin ang inilaang paggugunita sa araw na tuluyang napaalis sa puwesto ang diktador na nagpahirap sa bayan sa loob ng tatlong dekada. Hindi makatarungan kung ating lilimutin ang pagmamartsa ng taumbayan patungo sa sinag ng kasarinlan.
Ang ipinatupad na ito ni Marcos Jr. ay isang halimbawa ng mga taong may sariling adyenda kaya’t ipinipilit na manipulahin ang naratibo ng kasaysayan. Hindi ba’t ito rin ang pilosopiya sa usapin na ang palaging narerekord lang sa mga libro ay ang mga nagtagumpay sa digmaan? Ang mga ibinibida lang ay ang mga makapangyarihan, ngunit hindi nakikita ang pinagdaanan ng mga ordinaryong tao, sapagkat hindi katala-tala ang kanilang pangalan sa mga pahina. Tanda ang kagahaman ng isang tao upang pabanguhin ang kaniyang imahen at baliktarin ang kasaysayan kahit na taliwas ito sa naratibo ng kasaysayan. Ano ang kahihinatnan ng bayan kung ang kaniyang kasaysayan ay binubuo lamang ng mga salaysay na nagbebenipisyo sa mga taong pinaiiral ang kani-kanilang pansariling interes? Ano na ang magiging identidad ng Pilipinas kung tinatabunan at hindi binibigyang importansya ng mga taong nakaupo ang kasaysayan nito? Tila hindi sapat ang buhay na inialay ng mga bayaning sina Andres Bonifacio, Jose Rizal, ng mga nag-aklas noong Batas Militar para sila’y mabigyan ng isang araw ng paggunita at pagpupugay. Tila hindi sapat ang dumanak na dugo’t pawis sa lupain nitong bayan. Sa isang proklamasyon lamang, mawawaksi ang lahat ng sakripisyong nagtaguyod sa bansang Pilipinas at ang nasyonalimong dapat sanang mataglay ng mga Pilipino ay patuloy lang din na lalabnaw.
Kapwa magkaiba ang pagsasaalang-alang sa ekonomiya at pagpapahalaga sa kasaysayan ngunit kapwa ring may mahalagang ugnayan ang dalawa. Hindi kailanman dapat magtunggali ang dalawang ito sapagkat pareho nitong binubuo ang Pilipinas. Kung ngayong hindi pa burado ang lahat ng alaala, ngunit madali nang piringan at utuin ang mga mamamayan—paano pa sa hinaharap, kapag nasunog na ng mga maysala ang lahat ng mga ebidensyang nagtuturo at nagpapanagot sa kanila? Hahayaan lang ba natin ang mga taong may pansariling adyenda na gawin ang anumang konvinyent para sa kanila, kahit na ito ay magdudulot ng pasakit sa taumbayan? May obligasyon tayo bilang mga mamamayanng na panatilihing buhay ang kasaysayan sa pamamagitan ng pag-alala lalo na sa panahong itong ang mga pinagkatiwalaang magpatakbo ng lipunan ay kumikilos upang burahin ang mga bahaging hindi pumpabor sa kanilang pansariling interes. Nagpapatayo tayo ng mga monumento at isinusunod pa ang pangalan sa mga kilalang tao upang alalahanin at bigyan sila ng pagpupugay, ngunit hindi naman natin ito pinag-uukulan ng pansin, kaya’t kalaunan ay nakakalimutan. Marapat nating pakatandaan: walang Pilipinas kung wala ang mga Pilipinong lumaban at bumitbit nitong bayan patungong kalayaan. Ngayon, nasa ating mga kamay ang kapangyarihang ipagpatuloy ang pakikipaglaban upang maisalin ang mga kwento ng bayan hanggang sa susunod pang mga panahon. // nina Sophia Dormiendo at Wynelle Llaguno
Late answer but SADR (Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic) is Western Sahara, aka a territory occupied by Morocco. It used to be a Spanish colony, but after "independence" (that Spain promised them) Morocco invaded (also Mauritania) and occupied it, still to this day. Spain did nothing about it because they also occupy Ceuta+Melila and Morocco gives them money and gas. So its... something when Moroccan players hold Palestinian flags when they do to Sahrawis what Israel does to Palestinians :/
thank you sm for sending this to me. ngl i genuinely had no idea about this issue and did my own reading after you sent this. i acc saw a thread about this (kinda) but on a wider topic of how arab/muslim countries support liberating palestine whilst simultaneously ignoring marginalised ethnic groups in their own country/regional political spheres. & like palestinian liberation is a cause that is really dear to a lot of our hearts but i think it’s always good to remind ourselves that it doesn’t exist in a vacuum & freeing palestine should be part of a wider movement to liberate marginalised/indigenous groups from the relevant systems of colonial oppression
