I wrote a poem for you all!! I haven't written in a while, motivation, and fanfic writing has been kicking my ass. I felt this poem deeply as I was writing it. It was like a beas that was infecting my brain and needed to come out through several couplets, a quatrains, and some type of ending stanza. Enjoy! <3<3<3<3
I haven't been able to write
1.
I haven't been able to write at all
It is a shame how something so very small
2.
As a bad grade on a test or an unclean room
Strengthen the impending sense of doom
3.
Is doom, for a poet, having nothing left to say
Having words that impact in no kind of way
4.
Following a pattern, couplets I suppose
Trying to change the world through meaningless prose
5.
Is writing a poem, the way I am now
Part of the problem and if so, how?
6.
"This is not a real poem", one could say
And I would agree in many a way
7.
Am I rhyming to rhyme or do I mean something deep
Where are the answers I desperately seek
8.
I feel lost, as a poet, as if I'm no one at all
Drowning in my thoughts and feeling so small
9.
Perhaps that is why I'm not able to write
Perhaps I have given up all of my fight
10.
Perhaps I shouldn't post my words to the world
And read any comments painstakingly curled
11.
Up into a ball, do they like what I say
Do I matter at all at the end of the day?
12.
Maybe I'll break the rules like the best poets do
But then how will my message shine faithfully true
13.
There's so much confusion and way too much sound
In the conventions and rules all bouncing around
14.
Let me write, god damnit, let me right as I please
In a world with no pushback let me write with ease
15.
I have all the thoughts, they're in my head
So save your rules for the creatively dead
16.
I won't follow your rules any longer
Tryrants of poetry
Sic semper tyranis
The poem ends how ever I see
Why do I number these at all?.
And it ends like this:
I will write as I will write
And I will be who I want to be

Witches’ Rhyme: Sailor Mod
with thanks to tumblr user Omnybus and William Shakespeare
Double, double, toil and trouble
Crab claw pinch and sea foam bubble
Diesel fuel and fish’s scales
Tooth of shark and tail of whale
Sugar, tea, lime, and rum
brewing in the galley’s drum
Through stormy sea and misty veil
Something wicked this way sails

Long time listener and first-time caller, I'm a huge fan of all you have done for the DPxDC fandom!
I understand that there is a certain amount of popularity around one "sad trenchcoat man" in the prompts where Danny is mucking about in Gotham, but I was curious about a different member. Someone who, to my understanding, is living in Gotham and occasionally works with Batman. Jason Blood, the host of Etrigan the Demon, seems like he could be interesting to bring on to consult instead of Constantine.
He made an impression on me in that "The Doom That Came to Gotham" movie.
Tumblr media
Jason Blood is a pretty good consult for magic but the whole issue is the man really wants nothing to do with it (in most interpretations I've seen of the man at least, feel free to correct me I haven't read too many comics about him), so either Jason or Etrigan has a fondness towards Danny or Danny gets Jason somehow wrapped up in his shenanigans that he has no other choice but to put an end to this issue.
also if any of y'all responding who don't write Etrigan speaking in rhyme are dead to me.

put simply,
We are the ghosts under the floorboards We are the voices in his head We are the whistles of the treetops And the creaks around his bed
We are the shadows in the closet And the eyes along the hall We are the broken friends and family who all scream and shout and call
We are the memories of long ago the terrors of the night We are the footsteps no one left at all We are the reason that he fights
We can measure hugs and words of care We line up shining lives We haunt our blorbo evermore We choose if he survives

I know I'm alive, since I still hear the ringing; in most other senses, to life I'm just clinging.

Over a decade on and I'm still disappointed there wasn't a Torchwood episode dedicated to Mari Lwyd.
Just the sheer joy of Ianto or Gwen (or Jack let's face it, he'd been in Wales for a while at that point) explaining the lore to the Tosh and Owen (or maybe Suzie).

Spilled Inktober, 10.18.23 “By the Memory"
When the wind blows And the curtains dance, I see you lingering as The house sighs its sorrowful rest Fiddling at buttons tight on my vest When the wind blows And whispers aloud, I hear you singing as The garden lumbers to perennial sleep From the grave, buried ever so deep When I seek my slumber And feel your touch against my breast The flicker in my mind All things, of you; remind

Take some couplets because why not
CW: these couplets contain mentions of death and other -more hidden- topics
1.
Trying to be something I am not
Who am I really? I just now forgot.
2.
After storms a rainbow signals good weather ahead
These signals are meaningless to the thousands who are dead
3.
Skin to skin with beloved kin
Drawing out hidden feelings from within
4.
All the words never turned into sound
Fade to nothing as my body hits the ground

You already know I'm gonna ask for an Aki rhyming couplet :P
Though she's her own person, she's Fire Emblem Fates in origin? :P
Fettered by doubt, finding freedom in the air Where the wind lifts spirits, and carresses her hair
And where aside from her pegasus, none can hear Yet expressed in her song, her affections are clear.
---
(I'm bored, send me a character from one of these fandoms and I'll write a rhyming couplet or two for them:
Fire Emblem Fates/FE14 Genshin Impact Pandora Hearts The Owl House)

Could I look into the green of your eye -
Just once
And you reply
Into the blue of mine
Like a soft spring leaf
And the raindrop who dances with her
Your body, more than the thief -
More than a cold, damp cave
And a pleasure
Taken from her
No, more than that. Treasure.
The hips, not to grip and bruise -
To hold, when we sway to the beat
Just your favourite of the blues
And an old record player
Could you let me into your warm mind,
so I can trace gently with my fingertips -
the rhythm and rhyme
of music and poetry
that sings and shines within
And I'll let you into mine.

Witches’ Rhyme: Aviator Mod
With thanks to tumblr user Omnybus and William Shakespeare
Soaring, roaring, earth unmooring
Afterburn and stormcloud pouring
Kerosene and fight of dog
Engine smoke and wart of hog
Gin and grease and sting of asp
Stewing in my steel hip flask
Between the flak and burning skies
Something wicked this way flies

“Unwittingly, you know, because I didn’t really know I was going to do much with my songwriting. That was just a little hobby,” McCartney told Daunt. “I do think that is true that the meter of some of these things, I mean, one of the things I learned was that Shakespeare often uses rhyming couplets, and I always thought that was kind of an interesting idea…Unconsciously, I ended up ending one of my songs, “and in the end the love you take is equal to the love you make,” not realizing that that’s where I picked it up.”
