Claude the bloodthirsty and lustful emperor who needed a son to pass the throne over.

His first wife was his childhood friend and noble fiancé Penelope Judith, who gave birth to a daughter in their first year of marriage. The girl was given the name Jennette. Had she been a boy, she would have been blessed with a true immortal Obelian name. Sadly, her father soon grew displeased with her mother's flirty nature. His paranoia and ire exploded and Penelope was arrested. Poor little Jennette was only three years old when her mother was convicted of adultery, conspiracy against the empire and treason. With that, Penenlope's head rolled bloody on the flood board and Jennette was demoted to a bastard.

Bored of high-class ladies and their fake natures, he found his attraction in a Siodonna woman of commoner root, a beautiful fairy-like dancer named Diana.

Although she was expressive she was wild. Untamable. At first, this excited the emperor. But soon he grew bored again.

Her only saving grace was that she was pregnant and he hoped unlike with Penelope, it would be a son.

None knew for sure the cause of the dancers death. Some said she was poisoned, others logically pointed to childbirth fever. Few whispered it was the emperor himself. The only legacy Diana left was her daughter and the immortal name she had audaciously chosen for the baby, Athanasia. Claude threw the child to his oldest daughter and the appointed nanny, wanting nothing more than to forget her. Her status was no higher than her older half-sister's.

This time, someone closer, more connected to the royal family might do goods. So he chose Ai Hoshino, with her purple hair and star eyes and petite frame. She was young, much younger than him but she was cheerful and sweet and soft. It was only she who gave him his desire. A son (and a daughter) at last.

Aquamarine or "Aqua" and Rudbeckia or "Ruby" would come to be known as the ice cold emperor's beloved (and most importantly acknowledged as legitimate) children.

His affection didn't last long, however, alongside the fact having twins as first born and at such young age had ruined the chance of having any additional children and he divorced her. But she was kept wealthy and entertained and that was at least happier considering the two before her.

You trained your eyes on the card, paying close attention as his hand waved over it, just like magic, the picture changed...showing nothing but a ring, a beautiful ruby ring. You weren't sure what it meant, if this was a trick of the eyes...or possibly a moment you'd been dreaming of, "Lyney-"

"What do you say? Care to spend forever together? Cause...I know I want to. I want to spend every single day with you." The magician smiled at you sweetly, you felt like your heart might explode, tears welling up in your eyes. There wasn't any other option, "Yes! Of course yes!"

"Phew, I was getting alittle worried." He pulled you close so he could kiss your cheek and before you could even open your eyes, he'd changed the card into the ring it had once shown.

"What are you up to my love?" Albedo sat down next to you, his arms wrapping around you almost automatically so he could pull you close and rest his chin on your shoulder. He just loved being so close to you, holding you and just watching whatever you were doing, it was almost like his way of studying what you liked.

"Just reading something. It's a love story and truthfully it reminds me of us." You leaned back into him, laying your head back so you could see his reaction...to your surprise...he had a slightly mischievous look.

"Do they? I suppose it isn't to difficult, our romance is truly out of a novel...do they happen to get married in the end?"

Your heart skipped a beat and suddenly you felt flustered, "Yes...why do you ask?"

"Just wondering if it's as accurate to our love story."

"But we arent-"

"Not yet, but if you say yes we could be~" He kissed your cheek as he reached into his pocket, retrieving a small black jewelry case.., "I promise it will be a happily ever after~"

"You arranged your teapot?!" You were in awe, unable to even form a coherent thought as you looked at the now beautifully decorated surroundings. Xiaos domain had originally never changed since he received his teapot, in fact he almost never used it as he preferred to sleep outside. He was originally going to give it to you...say you could build a home for the two of you to live together, but then something had changed his mind.

"I'm...sorry if it's not perfect. I was going to ask for help from the other adepti, but I decided I wanted it to be my own creation. My creation of the perfect spot for us..."

Your cheeks became dusted with a light pink as he spoke, he'd made the perfect spot for the both of you...and he'd done so in the perfect way. "Xiao I love it! We are going to live here together right! This will be our home!" You couldn't contain your excitement, you wanted to run into the home in the middle and squeal, but he seemed to have something else to say.

"Yes...but it's also more than that." He stepped closer to you, his hand gently intertwining with yours as he stared deeply into your eyes...he captivated your attention so easily when he did this, "I want this to be the place of our wedding. The place where we make our promise..."

"W-wedding??"

"Yes...if you will have me. I would like to marry you. Please?"

𑁍༄Wanderer:

"Can I open my eyes yet?" You groaned quietly, trying to peek through the cracks in Wanderers fingers as he lead you deeper into the forest, to a area you'd thought was off limits. You didn't know what had gotten into him, why he was so keen on making sure you couldn't see anything until he said so...why he seemed so absolutely and utterly nervous. He never got nervous, flustered maybe, but nervous? Maybe he was plotting something, "You're not trying to kill me are you?"

"What in teyvat are you talking about? If I wanted to kill you do you really think I'd go through the effort of bringing you here?"

"Maybe. Maybe I'd know if I could see where here is..."

"You can look in just a minute. Now shush and watch out for the branch at your feet."

"You said just a minute 5 minutes ago." You felt yourself wanting to roll your eyes, but to your delight he actually removed his hands so you could see...and it was anything but what you were expecting.

It was a miniature village, filled with creatures you'd only thought were in story books..and even crazier was the large cake they were grouped around. The letters were definitely wonky and some of the words weren't even spelled right, but it clearly read, "Will you marry me?" You spun around to meet Wanderers gaze and he simply smirked at you, "Answer my question dummy~"

𑁍༄Kazuha:

"Kazuha what is this place?" You gasped softly, taking in the vibrant hues of pink trees and the sweet smell of tea brewing, even the grass somehow held a magical feel due to its light blue tint. How this all could be in a cave was beyond your understanding, but of course it didn't surprise you, Kazuha had a way of finding the most beautiful hidden spots and he always enjoyed sharing them with you.

"It's one of the few places in Inazuma that I could come to after the decree had been set in place. It became a important part of my life, somewhere I could hide out and write my hymns and sorrows. Now I come back to show that the darkest part of my life has ended and is now replaced with the most bright and wonderful light. You of course being my light butterfly, I thought it only fitting to bring you here for this.."

Your eyes widened slightly, during his small speech he'd gotten more nervous...and then towards the end he seemed downright flustered, which was so different than his normally calm collected personality. "Bring me here for what?"

He smiled shyly at you, feeling like his heart might explode as he kneeled before you, retrieving the ring he had hand crafted for this very moment. He could tell you were beyond shocked and he hoped dearly that it was in a good way, "Will you marry me butterfly? I need my light in the dark...I cannot see any future without you..., every thought of the next day is centered around you and the love I can give you. Please, allow me to love you...forever and always."

//Okay I’ll be honest, it’s been a hot minute since I had last touched this fun little two parter I made with the Lancaster kid, Rowan, that ended on a cliffhanger that would make the Grand Canyon look like a small trench… Wish I can say that I was spending that time to make a bunch of different things but to be truthful, I needed a break from writing. So I took some time off, perhaps too much but that’s relative, and had this fun little series on my mind so I’m going to revisit it. But I plan to have a little bit more fun this time around, without further delay, back to the post.//

Rowan: *phew!* That was a close one. Gotta start thinking on your toes, you almost got outed back there…

Yang: Got outed for what?

Rowan: *jerks up from being startled* Ah! Aunt-I mean, Yang! How’s it going! I didn’t see you there. Did you need anything?

Yang: Yeah, actually. I wanted to see what’s got you so shaken up.

Rowan: Shaken? Me? Pfff, nah, I’m perfectly fine… no need to worry about me.

Yang: Yeah, I may not be a master detective or anything, but it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that you aren’t fully being honest with us back there.

Rowan: Really-I mean, what makes you say that?!

Yang: Well you said that the happiest memory you had with your Dad, aka Vomit Boy, was a day spent at an amusement park.

Rowan: Ah… he got better?

Yang: *raises an eyebrow to display doubt*

Rowan: *sighs* No dice huh?

Yang: Nope.

Rowan: Darn.

Yang: Is there something that we should know about your current situation with your parents in the future?

Rowan: *blinks confusedly* Situation?

Yang: Are your parents currently together in the future.

Rowan: Wait-What? That’s the question that you wanted to ask me?

Yang: Well you seem hesitant to talk about VB and you only talk about the stuff you and your mom have done. So I can only assume that your parents had a nasty break up or whatever that happened to them because you didn’t seem too happy to talk about it-

Rowan: Yang…

Yang blinks from being interrupted, but she almost took a step back when she had seen the look her “nephew” from the future was giving her. She’d seen Weiss give cold stares, but this was far colder than anything her teammate had shown. Yang noticed too that his fist had clenched his shirt and balled it in between his fingers.

Rowan: I understand that I haven’t fully explained the events that happened in my time and your worry, but please refrain from assuming anything about my parents and what they’ve been through…

Yang: Okay. Okay, yeah I hear you loud and clear. But are you okay?

Rowan: …I mean, yeah. I don’t know. This whole thing, it’s been weird for me too, I feel so- out of place, you know?

Yang: That’s one way to put it. Guess you gotta get with the times, Nephew. *winking*

Rowan: *laughs* Okay thats one of your better jokes.

Yang: Good to see that someone in our family finally recognizes me as a comedic genius.

Rowan: Heh, I wouldn’t go that far…

Yang: Anyway, there is something I gotta ask you.

Rowan perks up, curious on what was in his aunt’s mind.

Rowan: What up?

Yang: Rowan, is the future you’re from a happy one?

Rowan: ….

Yang: I know you said you can’t give away any specific details, but I won’t ask for any of that. All I wanna ask is, are you happy with it?

Rowan: …Am I happy with it?

Rowan looks down and starts to think about his life, perhaps trying to think of his answer. Okce he’s made up his mind, he directs his gaze to his aunt and gives a big smile.

Rowan: Yeah, I have a happy life!

Yang: Hm, alright, I’ll accept that answer for right now. Now come on, let’s group back up with the others. Your folks are probably starting to worry.

Rowan: Heh, you know you make it sound weird given that you guys are still students.

The two start making their way back to the cafeteria, but on their way they notice a large crowd of students starting to make their way to the training hall, which only means that there is a fight going on.

Rowan: Huh, I didn’t think they would schedule a sparring session during lunch break?

Yang: They don’t…

Yang grabs one of her classmates by the coat to get their attention.

Yang: Hey, why’s everyone crowding around? There a fight going on?

Student: Man, there’s some new student fighting against three members of CRDL in the ring by himself.

Yang: 3 versus 1? Is it one of the visiting students?

Student: Don’t know, they have a uniform I don’t recognize. But he’s actually doing a great job on his own, some Faunus with ears on his head, maybe a hyena or something.

Rowan: Hyena Faunus?

Student: Yeah, or some kind of cat, but he’s able to like, multiply himself or something, must be his semblance I guess?

Rowan: He can do what?!

Yang: Hey everything alright?

Rowan didn’t answer her, but his face quickly turned from surprised to agitated.

Rowan: Oh no, no no no no!

Rowan then turned himself to the crowd and started to forcefully make his way through them.

Yang: Hey! Wait, what are you- shit!

Yang started to follow after her nephew and pushed herself through the mass of students until they finally made it to the bleachers of the training hall to where they could see the arena.

Yang: Geez, kid. Give me a warning before you start going through a swarm of people. What’s going on anyway?

Yang asked her nephew, but his attention was not on anything else but the arena. Turning her attention there she sees that two members of CRDL, Russel and Dove, are looking battered and bruised while their third member is being held in a choke hold by his own weapon while the faunus student was holding him behind his back.

The student slowly approaches the two unrestrained members of CRDL while dragging their third teammate along.

Russel: You bastard! Don’t think you’re tough because you got a few good licks on us!

Dove: We were just going easy on you. Now you’re dead for sure!

Sky: Y-Yeah! You have no idea how much trouble you’re-GAH!

The student holds the halberd tighter around Sky’s neck, and he is still approaching the other two teammates in stride.

????: Is that supposed to scare me? You think threatening me will help you?

The Faunus student then starts to spin, making Sky also spin off his feet until he’s let go then kicked by the student in his torso and flung back to his teammates which causes them to fall onto the ground in a pile of bodies. The student then throws Sly’s weapon back at him, landing flat on top of his body.

????: Punks like you don’t scare me. All you’re serving to do-

Raises his hand and points to his chest with his thumb. His aura illuminating a dark purple light around his whole form as he approaches the three fallen students.

????: -IS PISS ME OFF EVEN MORE! Now get up! I’m not done beating you down yet!

Rowan: BLAAAAAAAAAAAAZZZZEEEE!!!

The students watching the fight, Yang included, are shocked by the sheer volume in which the red haired boy screeched and who it was directed to in the arena. The student seeming to have noticed their name being called out.

Rowan: WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU’RE DOING!?

This causes the faunus to look over his shoulder, amber eyes met silver, while the faunus gives The red haired boy a bored look.

Blaze: …Ah, hey Rowan. So you ended up here too, eh?

The flames burned bright, and you couldn’t tear your eyes away from the crackling fire. The yellow and orange flames flashed like rubies, licking the dark sky, illuminating the beach as you watched them burn. It was like a dance, the way the fire swayed in the wind.

“You okay?” a voice broke you out of your trance as Jake planted a kiss on your cheek. You snapped out of it, smiling up at him as he reached for your hand, clasping it gently in his. He sat down on the sand beside you.

Jake Sim. A year older than you, the sweetest boy you had met in your entire life. He had sparkling eyes full of youth, a smile that could make angels sing, and a calmer temperament than anyone you’d seen in your 20 years of age. You were lucky enough to call him your boyfriend.

Many people thought you were polar opposites, but that was what made you perfect for each other. You didn’t make friends easily, but he was happy to share his. He wasn’t very emotional, but you didn’t mind coaxing him into confessing what he was feeling. He helped you come out of your shell, you helped him learn to love the peaceful moments. After all, they say opposites attract., and that was certainly true for you.

You had only been dating for six months, but all your friends told you he was the one. And you were beginning to really believe it.

“I’m good.” you replied sweetly. You and Jake’s friends were laughing and dancing boisterously, but you didn’t feel like joining in on the fun. The fire was giving you plenty of company, and an unsettling feeling was creeping into your heart. Maybe it was the Halloween season, or maybe your doubts went deeper than that.

“I’ll sit with you then.” Jake offered kindly, wrapping an arm around your shoulder, and you leaned into him gratefully.

You were in love with Jake, you knew that. He was the first thing you thought of in the morning and the last at night, the main topic of all your conversations. He was sweet, thoughtful, smart, funny, and had every quality you ever wanted from a boyfriend. He was perfect, yet somehow, this didn’t feel right. Six months later, and you were beginning to have doubts. You had doubts in all of your past relationships, but none of them were as good as this one. Despite that, something was off. You could feel it.

For now, you tried to put it behind you, letting the fire and Jake’s warm touch comfort you as you watched the dancing flames.

It was Sunday morning. You were looking forward to a day of no classes, and some alone time. While you loved being with Jake, you had spent everyday together for the past two weeks, and you were craving a little time to yourself.

You took a croissant out of the ribbon wrapped box, taking a bite and relishing in the peaceful feeling of being alone.

You closed your eyes briefly, and when you opened them, you were put out to discover someone standing before you.

He was extraordinarily good looking; it was the first thing you noticed about him. With his kind eyes, tall stature, and silky dark hair, he looked like an angel appearing out of the fog. He was standing a couple of feet away from the bench you were sitting at, looking at you directly with a soft smile.

“Oh,” you said, startled. “Hi.” You weren’t sure if you were supposed to address him, but he was clearly waiting to say something to you.

“Hi,” he replied. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to startle you. I just liked your shirt.” You looked down at yourself, completely forgetting about your ripped tee, suddenly embarrassed about your messy outfit.

“You like Amy Winehouse?” you asked, and he nodded excitedly.

“Love her. Valerie was my top song for like, three years in a row.” He seemed eager to share his love of jazz music, and if you were a little more of a senseless person, you could’ve fallen in love right then and there.

“What are the odds?” you said, not sure how to respond. He smiled. Then he held out his hand.

“I’m Sunghoon.”

Okay, so, I didn't read a whole lot this month. Hear me out. I'm not mad about it. I got SO much crafting done across different mediums. Nothing to show for it, really, but I'm having so much fun being creative in a way I haven't felt in a very long time. I think I might actually be able to set up some type of tiny shop about it, too. Got my embroidery machine up and running in a way that allows me to create my own designs, and when I tell you the creative juices are flowing, boy howdy it's like a dam has broken. I also started pokemon Violet, and while that's slow going, I'm having a lot of fun with it. So, no I'm not mad at my reading habits this month.

In the Ravenous Dark by AM Strickland ⭐️⭐️⭐️ - Phew. Okay. This was. A very bumpy ride. The first half was a slog, honestly, and the writing and pacing is not great, but the last third or so reminded me a lot of Beyond the Ruby Veil which was also not outstanding, but it was fun. Fucked up, feral lesbians. Poly family friendship going on. The plot is so basic, the magic neat, the worldbuilding lacking. I would not read it again, but at the end I'm not entirely mad I did.

Dark Matter by Blake Crouch ⭐️ - I don't even know what to say. I didn't expect to be wowed, I went in expecting no more than a mediocre thriller. What I got was A Book Written By A Man™️. How many times can a guy fridge one wife? Infinitely, apparently! I was semi on board until he started fighting his other selves. That was dumb as shit.

The Art of Prophecy by Wesley Chu ⭐⭐⭐⭐ - *Gordon Ramsay voice* Finally, a good fucking book. This took me most of the month to read, but I'm not mad about it. It was nice to sit quietly with this book, and while it took it's time, I never felt bored with it. I can't really pinpoint what keeps it from five stars, and maybe my rating will change in the future, but I did really enjoy this. It has a wonderful cast, everyone felt very real and well rounded, it was bloody, but never felt gratuitously so. It was a good book and I very much want to continue the series.

Favorite of the month was most definitely Art of the Prophecy. Kind of unfair because Dark Matter was such a disaster, but Ravenous Dark had it's perks. Mainly being batshit crazy and ending in polyamory.

My friends, as always, have been incredibly kind to me. I could not have gotten through the last couple months without them. Would like to do a couple of buddy reads in the coming months. I really did like taking my time with a longer book, and I think I'm ready to tackle the final book in the Rook and Rose trilogy. My library also finally got a copy of The Bone Maker on audio and while I haven't listened to an audiobook since December, I'm excited to give that a listen. As always, be kind whenever possible.

Even though they were attending school in different towns now, Louis and Dayton still made sure to meet up whenever they could. Of course, they were very aware that this would become difficult once Louis moved to live at the academy, so they were already making plans to keep their friendship alive somehow.

Realising that any proper planning was just too boring and complicated to do in one afternoon, they simply decided they would make it work somehow. Dropping the topic, Louis was already itching to dance again. He quickly jumped off the bed, excited to show his friend what he had learned recently. After all, he had not even seen him dance before, and something had to be done about that.

Dayton was prepared to give the strictest, though least knowledgeable, ratings imaginable, when he noticed the door handle moving from the corner of his eye.

While Louis was too focused on his dance practice, Dayton watched as the door opened just enough for Ruby to poke her head through. However, once she noticed him looking, she immediately closed the door again and left.

Though he had not noticed any of that short exchange, Louis could not help but laugh about it, when his friend let him know. He loved his sisters, of course, but sometimes he just could not understand their strange behaviour.

Embarrassed about being caught trying to catch a quick glimpse at her crush, Ruby ran back to her and her sister's room. Since she was still looking behind her to make sure no one had followed her, she did not notice Dorothy standing at the end of the hall waiting for her.

Dorothy seemed to be upset at the fact that her twin sister had just left their playtime together, only to spy on their brother and his friend. Of course, Ruby tried to make up excuses, but Dorothy was not stupid.

She had been noticing her sister's excitement whenever they heard Dayton come home with Louis, and how she was barely paying attention to anything else when he was there. If Dorothy was being honest, it had started getting on her nerves, but seeing her sister's face of guilt made it hard to show this to her. So, she acted as though she had no idea what was going on for now. Any further annoyance could wait for another day.

[TRANSCRIPT]

Dayton: "So, you're really going to move to Brindleton?"

Louis: "It's amazing, isn't it? Of course it's only a train ride away."

Dayton: "Do they even allow visitors at that posh place?"

Louis: "Not sure... But I'll visit home now and then."

Dayton: "Hah! You'd better!"

Louis: "'course!"

Louis: "Hey, can I show you what I've been practicing?"

Dayton: "Sure, if you don't mind a harsh judge!"

Dayton: "?"

Dayton: "Alright?"

*door closing* footsteps subsiding*

Louis: "Hm?"

Dayton: "I think I just caught your sister spying?"

Dorothy: "There you are! Where've you been, Ruby?"

Dorothy: "Why did you just disappear? I've been waiting this entire time!"

Ruby: "I, uhm, just went to the bathroom."

Dorothy: "Since when's the bathroom in Lulu's room?"

Ruby: "Well... I just thought I'd say hello."

Dorothy: "Sure, whatever you say."

Ruby: "...Are you cross with me?"

Dorothy: "What? Why would I? Are you coming to play now or what?"

Ruby: "Of course! I won't be leaving this time, promise!"

Oscar: Wait! This is all wrong!

Ruby: Phew!

Oscar: Ruby Rose would want to be cremated!

Ruby: (Screams inside her coffin)
