Worst CompanyLIVE's first posted session (unfortunately not the very first session) with the custom homebrew system named after the DM, Ekillpa. Watch the train wreck that is Worst CompanyLIVE and how it lives up to its name! We are not professionals in anything. Enter the world of RWBY as a roleplaying tabletop verging on fanfiction.
Characters in order: Cyan, Uriel Eucalyptus, Coal Scorpius, Alexander Kairo.
Artwork commissioned from Windhydra from Reddit.com.

Can I ask what other fic ideas you've been kicking around recently? Not what your next project is or anything, just what ideas have been holding your interest?
to be honest, other than a potential sort of DVD extra semi-sequel to sdau to explore a few things that were extraneous to the main plot, I don't have any fic ideas at the moment
because I wrote newsbees and sdau back to back, I had myself on a pretty strict "new stimuli" moratorium in order to not break my rwby hyperfixation. since finishing sdau I let myself relax that rule, but funnily enough the thing i ended up landing on was, er, an idea for a dnd campaign?
so most of my creative energy when i've been doing my like "ah it's nearly bedtime, what shall we Imagine" moments has been going to homebrew worldbuilding ideas
i'm sure that before too long I'll miss writing and find my way back into it, but for now that well is on the dry side

are you still accepting bottom 5 requests? if not, please disregard
bottom 5 rpg combat systems
This is honestly kind of hard for me to answer, both because "RPG" is an incredibly broad category and because I haven't played a ton of them recently, but I'll give it a shot.
Fate Grand Order's combat is some of the least compelling I have ever played.
Playing Dungeons and Dragons specifically as a Ranger feels like hell and almost necessitates homebrew modification if you want the Ranger player to actually have fun
Code Vein felt like shitty Soulsborne
I played Spectrobes ages ago and while the idea was incredibly creative in terms of the way it tried to take advantage of the Nintendo DS's features, in terms of actual implementation it was kinda ass and felt extremely clunky
If Fire Emblem Heroes counts as an RPG, the combat rapidly began to feel horrendous as the devs added power creep after power creep after power creep
Honorable Mentions:
Dragon Warrior Monsters/Dragon Quest Monsters: the combat itself was fine, but those games were so, so fucking grindy
Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver: combat was fine, but the level curve felt like it was balanced for a team of 5 for some fucking reason
Mass Effect 3: not combat, but they changed things so the roll action and the interact action mapped to the same button, so instead of talking to people or opening doors or whatever, there was a decent chance you'd just fucking roll into them repeatedly
RWBY: Amity Arena was by far the worst combat experience on this list but idk if it counts as an RPG. If you want to know just how badly this game shit the bed, feel free to ask, because I'd love to rant about it when I have time

Is "creative soulmates" an applicable term?
I believe so, even more so when I refer to a player at my RPG table who is also someone I write fanfics with. Well, as you can see, this is another post about the magic of the tabletop RPG. Two weeks ago, I mastered yet another origination session, and this time it was for my remaining player from the old table. I must remember that it was she who convinced me to go back to GMing through a recap of everything that had happened the other time and, above all, with new ideas for her character. We changed a lot, starting with a new homebrew race that encompasses creatures with animal characteristics (our inspiration came from the fauns of RWBY) and with that, also came a new goddess... But, that's my thing as DM. Let's talk about her as a player. She always surprises me with how demanding she is with her characters, I always thought her character at the other table was amazing, but she felt inconsistent in some ways and so I helped her. We worked together on establishing new attributes, including multiclassing her previous class (she's coming with a spellcaster that I already broke in the source session) and that tied in perfectly with the new BG she wrote. Before, a deserting soldier who constantly fled from the oppressive empire that forced her to enlist, even if it meant leaving someone important behind. Now, a soldier victim of a war for no reason, who needs to fight PTSD while wanting to return home and find who she left behind... But years have passed, new domains have been established and things have happened without her knowing. The current character is much denser than the previous one, which makes her connection with the Raven Queen extremely important (after all, she has issues with destiny and, mainly, with another domain of the goddess). I tried to encompass all of this in her session, starting with a dream in which I worked on the concepts of the "thread of fate" and also the Japanese legend of the "red thread". We went through years and years of lore, covered with images that didn't say much, with symbolisms that made sense to her as a player... We talked about heavy topics, such as psychological aggression, violence (torture), trauma, grief... And all this taking place in a dream, traveling along a black and white forest road that began with fire and ended at the river. We closed the cycle of that character's life while another one began... And she woke up to the sound of the voice of an NPC that we had already seen in previous sessions. Her character, a soldier, allowed herself to be taken care of her whole life and decided, on her own, that she needed to act. Of course there are MANY things in this character's BG that I haven't even addressed, but I'm really happy to have the player back with me. And here comes what I put in the title of this text: the connection I have with her is only explained through the brevity of soulmates (Platonic, I must say). She is incredible, as is her character and, most importantly, the NPC we both fell in love with. A cutscene-only NPC, unnamed, looking at the moon through a telescope. A high elf enchanted by the stars who tries to reverse time to find those who left her behind... One day, I left my player and friend behind, but she defied fate and insisted on bringing me back. All I can say is thank you: thank you for letting me roll the dice with you again.

My dog also gets major FOMO so you could do what she does and sit, practice handshakes, eat some treats, or put a spoon of peanut butter in a cardboard tube and shred it apart for half an hour.
FR tho, don’t let being the odd one out get you down - when people are your friends you know it’s because they genuinely like you and not because they feel like they have to, yk? PALOTPE ❤️
I... should probably eat some treats
they're all playing excessively homebrewed dnd and it's not that I'm not invited, we all were, but I don't play dnd. That's a Zyl thing, and she doesn't front much anymore, if at all...
I'm only really friends with one of them anyway, and our slight hikikomori tendencies are incredibly annoying
So I'm just finishing a rewatch of RWBY and our Ruby alter is crying over Penny (We just finished v8 and the amount of emotional pain going through the front right now is massive)

Howdy
It's me, ya girl Pixel. 22, she/them, ADHD, gamer, ect.
I love engineering and science and space and stories and people.
Here's what all I do:
First off, fanfiction! I'm on Ao3, ffnet, and spacebattles (but I keep forgetting about that last one). I do mostly RWBY, Harry Potter, and My Hero Academia but I'm not afraid to mix it up.
I'm also working on some original stories, we'll see how those go before I post about them here.
I also do a lot of work with TTRPGs, mostly setting up and DM'ing campaigns. Right now I'm running something we've been calling Bounty Hunter Boogaloo (check #bounty hunter boogaloo for more) and I'm gearing up for another one called Pantheon Coup.
We use our own homebrew system for them and ngl it's kind of a wreck but it functions (if barely) and we have fun with it
I do digital art, mostly for the aforementioned fanfics or TTRPGs. I am told my preferred brush is a crime against the medium but it works for me so I'm not too concerned (the sketch brush in Krita, for any interested).
I dabble in poetry as well; its just really satisfying using the right words to say something, you know?
I also just spend a lot of free time just browsing the archives for decent manga; I'm a sucker for a good comedy.

Happy New Year!!!!
A friend proposed a challenge about drawing our OCs presenting the Spanish tradition of New Year (eating 12 grapes with the first 12 chimes of the year, even though we treat them as the last from the year before). The most popular ones are broadcasted from la Puerta del Sol in Madrid, and that's where I chose to put some of my RPG characters.
The 12 grapes are supposed to give us a great start of the year, and good luck. Sooooo the character almost fused with the shadows may give them problems...
The characters are, from left to right, Traz (NPC, brother of my PC in that one shot campaign, Jaspe), Phlox (my PC in a RWBY campaign), Jaspe (the PC of a one shot campaign in a homebrew DnD universe, in the past or the main campaign), Dionysia (cousin of Phlox), and Borb (temporal PC of the main campaign of that DnD universe).

MUSE LIST:
-Layle Drakeus
Tumblr media
Layle is the primary character of this blog, and has the most various verses. He tends to be full of confidence, kindness and bravery, and though also pretty smart, tends to have less foresight and more darring-do (vague dumbass energy *affectionate*). He's generally very strong, capable of challenging Dragons to arm wrestling and winning (The DnD verse of him has too many powers and abilities to list here, since he started at level 1 and made it up to 40 due to my DM's homebrew stuff, so I've made a post for that right here). He's likely to crumble into a blushing mess if complimented in particular ways. Verses include but are not limited to: DnD 5e, Pokemon, Persona, Genshin Impact, RWBY, Overlord, Fire Emblem, and Fate (at least three different versions of him).
-Nabarr Kaminko
Tumblr media
Nabarr is Layle's distant descendant in DnD. He's a brilliant artificer who made a point to master every tool he possibly could, building wild weapons along the way. He's pretty tough and strong, but pretty damn gullible. For the world he grew up in, he's basically like a super DaVinci with his level of artisinal skill. Due to shenanigans, he also built a small mech.
-Caim Drakeus
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Verses for Caim include DnD and Overlord. Depending on the verse, either Layle's son, or creator. A bit of fiendish blood mixed with a fallen angel sort of lineage, he's got a lot of powers either tied to healing and resurrection, or lots of fire. He tends to be flirtatious, but also keeps his manners in check most of the time. Classes include Divine Soul Sorcerer, Celestial Warlock and Valor Bard.

If Ruby really did cry out for Summer right before she and Blake disappeared,
(see here for that post)
then it would parallel nicely with Penny's, "Dad!" right before she fell from Amity.

A Mother never forgets...
Tumblr media
"....she never forgets the child of her womb; never forgets the growing life within her for those 9 months, never forgets the small kicks she would feel from her child. Never forgetting the dreams of what memories she would make with him. The sleepless nights when the fear of losing him before he took his first breath.
The lullabies she would sing in Hope's her child would hear it. She never forgets the day her child finally came into the world, holding him close as she looked at him with such love and relief, knowing he was finally here. A mother never forgets the first words, the first scrape, the first tooth, every first of their first few years are never forgotten.
No matter how far a child goes, A mother's love will follow. No matter how many years pass, a mothers love will never diminish. Even as the child make take their last breathe, memories of the lullabies and words of encouragement, the love of a mother will always keep them warm. Never allowing the cold embrace of the void to take away the warmth away.
...A mother never forgets her child....a mother never stops loving her child..."
Question that I've always wondered; Do some space marines, in their final moments, try to remember their mother's face? The comforting words she would give to them as a young child before they were taken or chosen to be a space marine?
Do the mothers always wonder what became of the child they either by choice or were forced to give up their child in service of the Emperor? Do they wonder if their child remembers? Are they safe? Will they ever see them again?

Hollows travel the wilderness in small packs, using their life-sapping ability to hunt prey. It's not entirely clear if they were once human, but they act and look like other forms of undead, just... much taller than the others. Be wary if you find a hollow. They aren't extremely dangerous when numbers are against them, but the rest of the pack probably isn't far away.
I homebrewed a monster for D&D: the hollow! A beast that, while not overtly powerful, becomes a threat when it uses its signature ability to reduce its enemies' stamina.
I considered just using exhaustion mechanics, but I don't feel that appropriately reflects what I wanted of the ability.
This monster is heavily inspired by the Apathy, a kind of demon from the show RWBY. They are notorious for an entire pack having once gotten stuck in the sewer system of a village and killing them all because they were too tired to leave their beds.

A while back I wrote some stuff so my RPG group could play a game of D&D 5e in the world of Remnant.
That game never happened, and it looks like it won't be happening for a while, so I might as well share it and hopefully someone can get some use out of it.
It was written with the intention of playing as students at Beacon 8 years before the events of the show, but it works for anywhere in the world. It's got rules for playing as a Faunus, a Huntsman class, a weapon and semblance system, and some other stuff.
It isn't 100% finished or tested so feel free to let me know if you see anything that needs to be fixed.
I wrote most of this before The Grimm Campaign was even announced, so none of this is based on that.

Lancer Homebrew
Today I learned how to make homebrew content for COMP/CON, so I know what I’ll be doing with most of my free time now.
For practice I want to adapt a set of characters into Lancer Mechs I have a few ideas, but I’d like opinions on where I should start.
Borderlands Vault Hunters (I’d do all of them from BL1, 2, Pre-Sequel, and 3)
Smite Gods (I’ll do my favorites from each Role then continue as inspiration strikes)
Classic Monsters (Frankenstein, Dracula, etc.)
RWBY (I’d start with team RWBY then possibly move on to other characters from there)
The Magnus Archives (One for each power, not sure how I’ll do The Flesh, but I’ll figure it out)
The Adventure Zone (I’d probably only do Balance, Amnesty, and Graduation, no side arcs)
If you have other characters from various media I should adapt in to Lancer feel free to send some suggestions. Also should I make a separate blog for this?

3.5 Geeks: Wrath of The Valkyries
legendary wondrous item (+3), requires attunement
firearm, ranged, two-handed, ammunition (explosive), reload
Range 120/480, Reload 6, Misfire 3. 3d8+3 piercing (magical) + 1d8 thunder.
The Wrath of The Valkyries is a multi-barreled grenade launcher. Its enchanted mithral construction reduces weight and recoil, but it still packs quite a wallop.
The wielder can make a ranged attack at a specific creature (+3 to hit), adding their Dexterity bonus to attack and to damage. If you roll a natural 3 or lower on your attack roll, the attack misses and the weapon cannot be fired again until you make a DC 11 Tinker Tools check (8+3 for the misfire score) as an action.
Alternatively, the wielder can target a space and any creature within 10 feet of the space must make a Dexterity saving throw, taking half damage on a successful save. The wielder does not add their Dexterity bonus to this area attack.
The wielder can also discharge all 6 grenades at once for an area attack that affects creatures within 30 feet for 12d8 piercing and 4d8 thunder, again with a Dexterity save for half damage. Firing all 6 grenades at once does significantly lower damage than firing each one individually. This special attack cannot be targeted at a specific creature, and can only be made once every short or long rest. Again, the wielder does not add their Dexterity bonus to the area attack.
Once all 6 grenades are fired, reloading takes a full action, even with a feature like a Gunslinger’s Lightning Reload.
As a bonus action, the wielder can convert The Wrath of The Valkyries into a jetpack on the wielder’s back.
As an additional, separate bonus action, the wearer can activate the jetpack, giving them the ability to use Dash, Dodge, or Disengage as a bonus action, doubling their movement speed, and giving them a Jump distance equal to their movement distance (including Dash, if this is used). This effect lasts 10 minutes once activated, but ends early if the wearer goes unconscious, or ends the effect early (requiring no action), or uses another bonus action to redeploy the jetpack into its grenade launcher form. Once the effect ends, even if it ends early, the pack’s jets must be recharged by a long rest before it can be used again in this way.
