Shadow and Bone: Fjerdan Woods

I had really hoped to have this done before the holidays, but maybe that was ambitious given how busy that time of year is. However, it is still winter, and this is a very wintery little work. I enjoyed using gold and silver ink and colored pencil in addition to my usual black ink and watercolor. The night sky is printed mulberry paper--it's so pretty and I want to use it in more stuff! Happy new year, happy winter.

This is a visual reimagining of my sci-fi fantasy universe ALLOY and one of its narratives. It features some of my signature characters while introducing new ones and completely reworking the worldbuilding and the narrative. This project is more of a visual pitch for the ideas than anything else, and, as such, there's still a lot of work to be done. I've always loved dark action-adventure anime like Netflix's Castlevania and it was very exciting combining the vibe with a sci-fi setting. I don't know where this will lead me in the future but I am quite happy to come one step closer to making my vision a reality. Special thanks to my colleagues at Chase A Cloud who helped me greatly with their feedback.

Snow clearing for more than an hour after work, sounds like an absolute nightmare but... it's actually tolerable if you've got semi-heavy machinery and LOUD MUSIC
