Which script blog can I get information from about how a character should identify based on their nationality? The internet hasn't been helping me and I was wondering if there were any experts on the topic or if you could point me to any other blogs that could help?
Your question is a little vague. What do you mean by “identify”? Are you referring to what they call themselves like “I’m American/German/British”?
Depending on what nationality your character is, @scriptbrit @scriptaussie @scriptgerman or @scriptcanuck might be able to help you.
@writingwithcolor may also be able to help you as they have many mods of many nationalities.
If you need, feel free to resubmit with a bit of clarification

ScriptBrit is Archived Indefinitely
Hey all. Aunt Scripty here, speaking in for Mod Tea. Tea’s life has become much more complicated than it was when this blog was started, and she’s unable to continue with the blog.
Therefore, in coordination with Mod Tea (and at her request), this blog is being archived.
All previously existing posts will remain up and searchable. However, no asks will be accepted and no new posts written until such time as either a new mod takes it over, or Aunt Scripty decides to move to the UK and live there forever.
Thank you for your understanding, and please join me in wishing Mod Tea all the best in life.
P.S.: The questions that were in ScriptBrit’s inbox have been deleted, as without an active mod they cannot be answered.
xoxo, Aunt Scripty

ScriptX Family Weekly Update
1/4/2017
Heyo! We’re back and better (hopefully) than ever. After a holiday, it’s nice to be able to get back into a bit of a rhythm. Anyways, on to the important things.
Announcements
We have a huge announcement this week!
@scriptmedic moderated the VERY FIRST scriptX family writing contest!
Tumblr media
The winners are:
@fourandahalfapple
@kathrynabbott
@pielover1967
Congratulations!
Also this week,
@scripteconomist is open to mod applications. Please message her if you are interested.
@scripteducator is looking for a co-mod with special education teaching experience. Please message her if you are interested.
@scriptsocialwork is still looking for a mod that has knowledge in the foster care system and has knowledge in adoption.
Featured Posts
19 Khajiits and Counting
The mild mad Greek goddess ( @pissed-off-persephone ) is back wondering how two different species could do the do and get results. But wait, what if we want the child to be more one parent than the other? @scriptgenetics answers this one pretty quick.
The Fish Say Moo
Fish are great! What with their swimming and their, uh, swimming and… swimming? Ok so maybe they aren’t the most fun pets, but hey you could always use them for food. But would it make sense to have fish the size of, say, sheep and keep them like cows? @scriptecology is here for this asker, with a bonus bit by @allthebellsinvenice .
The Deeper You Go, The Darker It Gets
So the deep/dark web: what is that? Creepypasta readers may be familiar with the idea, but you may not be know enough to write your own horror story filled with vomitous imagery. Well, @scripthacker has the McBasics ready for you to read and learn.
Characteristics of an Abused or Neglected Child
Writing many times looks at the darker side of humans. In consideration of the “show, don’t tell” rule, @scriptsocialwork has provided this list of characteristics that could be used in your story of the horrors of a dark home.
Decomposable Income
What makes something a good currency? Well, you probably wouldn’t want something subject to decay. @scripteconomist helps out this asker with a creative idea for currency, but maybe not practical. Who knows? Maybe it will work in the end.
An American Freshman in London
So obviously school is different when you’re in a different country, but an explanation of something basic like grade levels would be nice. Well say a “thank you” to @scriptbrit because Mod Tea has a chart here for you and a brief summary.
Invasion of the Land Snatchers
Long ago, the nations lived together in harmony. That all changed when that one nation attacked. Only @scripthistory, master of all the eras, could provide a reason for the asker. And when he was needed most, he was there with open ask box. Days passed and the question was answered. And though the blog has many questions left to answer, I believe Captain can save the errors of the scripts.
A Day in the Indoor Garden
She pulls the keys out of her purse and locks the door. It’s been a long day at the shop with everyone needing flowers for Valentine’s day. She sighs turning around as she walks to her car and thinks about the daily routine. It involves plenty of…. well @scriptflorist has that covered.
A Nuke at a Debate
Your character just moves into a house and go figure, it’s haunted. Well, he’s pretty sure, but he's not certain. How is he going to go about taking care of this spooky problem? @scriptwitchcraft has some advice that would be perfect for this.
A Book Here, A Book There, A Book Everywhere
And finally, you can set down your pen for a moment, and bask in the glory of a draft well done. The series has been selling well and now your last book is ready for publishing. You reminisce on the good times you’ve had in your fantasy world. That cave scene was epic, one of your proudest moments. Maybe, just maybe, you could somehow continue the story. But your characters are done, all their arcs completed. No what you need is new characters. And now, @scriptstructure has some advice for you on how you could do your new narrative.
How To Write More Memorable Doctors (Even If They Never Speak)
(Hey, hey, guess what. This post, right here? Yeah it appeared first on Patreon. Go check out Aunt Scripty’s Patreon and consider donating. See the future of the Script Medic.)
Billy Badbones? More like Broken bones after he jumped out that window. And now he’s in the hospital and he is BORED. He looks through the glass door and sees two nurses. Well, duh, he sees nurses, but who are these nurses? How can you make even a background character like a doctor or nurse be the character your readers remember? Bada bing, bada boom- @scriptmedic has a post for you!
Quotes
I’m trying this quote section out, see how it goes.
“I'm sorry, I was given sugar and a cat and left unsupervised to talk about cannibalism.” -Kayl ( @scriptlibrarian ) A summary of the chat
“On one hand, we have deep therapeutic discussions, and then it INEVITABLY turns to murder, cannibalism, or both.”- @scriptshrink Also describing the chat
"Tripping on your own insides is bad"-Aunt Scripty ( @scriptmedic ) Upon being asked whether someone could walk after being stabbed in the abdomen
“For a second I thought that said human sacrifice not human medicine and was about to offer help”-Ajk’in( @scriptmyth ) Realizing that she had misread something Dr. Ferox ( @scriptveterinarian ) has said
Ask Box Statuses
@scripthistory will not be answering at sks from January 5-14. The ask box will still be open.
New Family
We have two new blogs that have joined the family!
@scriptautistic run by Mods Cat and Aira. Click their names for their respective introduction posts.
@scriptspoonie is here to help you write people with illnesses that don't leave them much energy. The title is based off the concept of spoon theory which you can read about here. Learn about their mods here.
@scriptsoldier also has new mods. Please welcome LT Robin4 and PO1 Knight, both with Navy expertise. See the updated Mods page for more information.

Note
I know the ScriptBrit blog has been archived, but do you know of any similar blogs that aren’t part of the Script family?
For British/UK culture? Sorry, I don’t :( I’m guessing your best bet on tumblr would be to poke around tags and such to try and find actual people who live or lived in the UK to ask things of. E.g. I know @thebibliosphere is Scottish, and lived in the UK including London her whole life before moving to the USA (though be warned that a.) I don’t know if her blog will always be SFW, and and b.) her blog is very popular and she gets a lot of messages so even notwithstanding tumblr’s tendency to eat Asks, I’m not certain how easy it would be to get an answer through the noise).Another suggestion though: if you have a nanowrimo.org account (for the website that promotes National Novel Writing Month), April’s Camp NaNoWriMo event is about to start up, so their forums are likely to be active right now. If you have a specific question in mind, such as geography or Brit-specific lingo, you might be able to get some useful responses in their Reference Desk forum (which is for research questions) - if you need it to be Brit-specific or UK-specific though, make sure to put that in the title of the post so that the right people will be drawn to look at your question :) I know there’s some British/UK-based “Wrimos” so you might have some luck depending on your questions, and you might meet people to private message back and forth about it, too. Just keep in mind that any responses you want to keep for later reference, you should archive for yourself, as nanowrimo.org has annual clear-outs of its forums’ posts; this doesn’t apply to PMs in their system (though it doesn’t hurt to back those up either, of course, in case something happens to their servers), but it does apply to posts in places like Reference Desk, which will only be around for a few months. :)Hope this helps!

Script Family Weekly Update
6/14/2017
Hey y’all and welcome back to the update. As the sun rolls around the earth, so more posts roll onto the blogs. Let’s check some out.
Announcements
@scriptbrit ‘s Scottish mod is answering questions now, so if you have questions about Scotland go ahead and send them in.
Featured Posts
Zombies of the Front Line
Sleep: everyone needs it. In the military though, it can be hard to find time. You find yourself so tired that anywhere and anything is a bed and a pillow. @scriptsoldier talks about some of his experience in the military with sleep.
Lose It All
A character who has plenty of money has likely put in effort to keep their money safe. However, there is always the chance that they could lose it all. What you as a writer may want to know is how to make sure they lose everything, and @scriptaccountant can help you with that.
Anthologies
Sometimes, novels are just too long to write, so you settle for something like a short story. But then you write a bunch of them and suddenly you have enough material for a full book but it’s not closely related enough to be a novel. Now what do you do? Well, you could put it together as an anthology and publish it. @scriptstructure has some advice on how to organize a potential anthology.
Scott O'McMurphy
As writers, one of the hardest things to do is come up with names for your characters that don’t sound completely unoriginal. That’s why this asker sent a question to Mod Haggis of @scriptbrit about Scottish surnames. Check it out and maybe find some inspiration for your next character.
Dry Bones
Sometimes it’s fun to have an animal companion for your character. If you like to write post-apocalyptic fiction, you may need to consider how much water they need and where they’re going to get it. Fortunately, @scriptveterinarian has a short list of some general ideas of how your typical companion can get water.
High Fantasy Witches
In high fantasy, witches and wizards are usually thought of as throwing fireballs and lightning bolts around. However, say you wanted to keep the setting but use a more modern approach to magic. What can you use techniques such as cursing, divination, and blessings for in that kind of setting? @scriptwitchcraft has a few ideas for us.
And that’s all that we have for this week. See you next time. Until then, this is your host signing off.

Note
I was wondering why script brit, kink, brainscientist and several other blogs aren't active right now? Kink said she was back from hiatus? Are they all really busy right now and that's why they aren't active?
When a blog goes inactive here on Tumblr, this usually means one of two things: they aren’t receiving asks or they have something going on in their personal life preventing them from working on asks and masterposts.  Most of the family’s communication happens on our discord server, and often  when a blog needs to go inactive, its mod(s) will drop a message for us so we know. However, there are a few blogs that aren’t on our server or are fairly inactive there two. When that happens, we aren’t really sure what’s going on.
In short, I’m not always sure why blogs are inactive. However, @scriptbrit has recently become more active and has even taken on a Scottish mod.
Best of luck to you and with your writings.

Hey Everyone!
I’m Mod Haggis, the latest addition to the Script family, joining up with ScriptBrit to answer all of your Scotland-related queries. A young Scot, born and raised in the west of Scotland, my specialities include Scottish culture, language, and politics. However, if you have questions outside of these categories, feel free to ask and I’ll see what I can do. Thanks!

ScriptX Family Weekly Update
2/1/17
Hey y’all, and welcome back to the weekly update.
Announcements
Been a relatively slow week for the scriptX blogs. It’s nice to have things kinda settled into a rhythm.
Featured Posts
A Day in Detail
When writing a character, authors have to keep in mind many aspects about that character such as their personality, careers, and their relationships. One thing writers of a service animal handler may not think about is how often the handler will be stopped because of their service animal, because people want to fawn over the cute wittle baby (who is busy doing a job, keep in mind) and talk about their own dogs. Mod @anauthorandherservicedog of @scriptservicedogs offers readers a taste of what a handler will encounter in a single morning, based on a recent morning of her own.
Non-opiate Pain Management
Your character struggles with an opiate addiction, but now he’s in the hospital because plot reasons. Now what? He doesn’t want to go down the road of addiction again. @scriptpharmacist has some ideas that may help your character out.
Whistle While You Work
Chores: few people enjoy doing them, and they take a lot of energy. However, your character needs to keep their house clean, because it has to be liveable. So how would a character, who is busy with homework and other school activities, help her mother, whom has Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and needs to keep track of spoons, with everyday activities. @scriptspoonie has a great post with some ideas for you.
Light Reading
Your character is finally on track to catch the Super Mysterious Serial Killer™ but there’s one problem. The important clue is this super old document that is about as sturdy as a twig. I can hear the Archivist cringing over in the library. How are the people at the lab going to look for evidence on this non-Google doc? @forenscripts talks about the multiple ways in which the lab can analyze the paper for evidence.
Five for a Tenner
Alright, time to pop on down to the shop for a spot of tea, eh gov’na? Maybe watch a match of football on the telly? Pip, pip, cheerio, head for the lift.  Now that I’ve attempted to use all the British slang I think I understand, @scriptbrit has answered a question about slang for British money. From quid to tenners, Mod Tea has you covered.
Writing by Moonlight
Werewolves are a common element of modern fantasy fiction. They appear in movies, t.v. shows, and even videogames. Oddly enough, their representation is based little on folklore, and more on early werewolf films. For writers interested in the folklore origins of these shapeshifters, @scriptmyth has plenty to say about various cultures’ interpretations of the beasts.
Climbing the Spaghetti Ladder
Since your protagonist likely isn’t the child of a super famous chef that also has a rat under hit hat guiding his every move like this guy
Tumblr media
They likely aren’t going from dishwasher to head chef in a matter of months. @scriptfoodie tells readers about how an employee of a restaurant can work their way to the top.
Introduction to Con-Lang
J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings Trilogy and other books he set in Middle Earth are remembered for their epic stories, the quests, and the characters. But one thing that stands out among the elements of his series is his con-lang, elvish. You may want to write your own con-lang, and that, my readers, is what the good @scriptlinguist is here to help with.
Ask Box Statuses
Looks like everyone’s ask box is open at the moment. Great time to send in your asks.
New Family
@scriptpublishingindustry officially started today. They are here to help you write characters who work as editor and publishers. Go ahead and send them an ask.
And so goes by another week. These things go by really fast. Anyways, until next week, this is your host signing off,
Splat
