the landau’s family life has always been pervaded with tension, the expectations that their children are to endure as to inherit the proud family’s name are elaborate and onerous. from their earliest days are they taught of their history, of the paramount role they play in the grand schemes of the supreme guardian’s will. these involve convoluted narratives accentuating the family’s honor, those who have fought and died for it and those who have preserved it throughout the eternal freeze. these lessons were almost always hours of tedium and neither serval nor gepard found them particularly engaging, gepard more so because serval would sweep him away on grand adventures and the two would go missing for hours. however, once serval was removed from the picture, her studies less concurrent with gepards, he became rather engrossed in them and dedicated himself to not only their understanding but their preservation. he was taught to fight in his early adolescence, he is skilled in sword play as well as a myriad of other weapons, these lessons were far more engaging but also time consuming and strenuous. the whole idea behind these early years of education is to shape the landau who will take up the mantle of the shield of belobog and stand beside the supreme guardian as the authority over belobog. their family’s estates are split and from a young age their father and mother no longer lived in the same home. their mother felt almost ethereal, an apparition to be revered but never met with in person, the children had scarce interactions with her growing up which dwindled even further as they were sent down their own paths. it is implied in canon that gepard still has contact with their mother and that he encourages serval to as well, however, she lives in a cottage on the outskirts of the cityship rather than in the estate where his father lives and until he was deployed for the silvermane guard gepard did as well. serval lives separately and lynx lives with her most of the time, gepard spends a great deal of his time at the barracks and doesn’t frequently return to either home unless it is demanded of him. the most imperative thing when family comes to mind for gepard is shielding his younger sister lynx from their father’s will. he will take up the duty of architect both out of pride and because it leaves her with autonomy over her own life to pursue her own goals as she sees fit. Gepard holds no resentment for either of his siblings because of the way they live but part of him does wish he could have a slither of it for himself, but is firm in his satisfaction with the path his life is leading. He was always intended to be what he is now, he’s worked hard for it, so he accepts it as his truth and does his best not to question it.
