I think he is trying, though. He's got that "trying to distance himself from anything he deems childish" attitude, he takes on more responsibilities. Yes, his parents played a role in his parentification, but the thing about kids who have to grow up too fast is that they start doing it to themselves, too. I'm not trying to blame Dion, I'm just saying that he's definitely trying to be as grown up as he can be, often to his detriment.
See, to me at least, there is a difference between:
-a kid WANTING to be what they THINK is an adult
-and a kid being FORCED to be an adult
With that second option, there is a branch off of it too. A kid who does it bitterly and a kid who accepts it and starts to actively conform to their responsibilities.
I do think Dion wanted to be an adult as a kid, and was probably happy with it at first. Thinking he is helping, getting praised by his parents, just having to do a little extra around the circus. Heck, Dion might have thought he was already basically an adult at age like 5.
But then the reality starts to hit him when Raz is born and he ACTUALLY has to be an adult as a kid. This is where he sorta goes off and starts conforming to the adulting he has to do. At first I am sure he complained a bit, but then seeing how much he is needed to help his parents made him conform and actively participate in being an "adult" for his siblings.
Yes, he is trying to be an adult, but as he grew older and saw how the others weren't being forced to grow up, he started getting bitter and hating being a adult. He wanted to have fun and not worry about all the stuff he had to, but he couldn't. Raz could. Mirtala and Queepie could. Like for fucks sake! (<for dramatic effect, not towards you) Frazie could too because of his efforts of taking on the responsibility of adult so she didn't have to!
He doesn't WANT to be an adult. He wants to be a kid and to have fun and to play around and not worry about all this crap that was put on him from such a young age. But he HAS to continue to do all of this. He has to conform and actively participate in being an adult otherwise things will fall apart.
In his mind, the best way for him to be an adult is to not be a child. So he pushes all that childish stuff away, trying to get rid of all that happiness he feels he can never have, just to make being a child of parentification at least a little bit tolerable.
Like you said, we shouldn't blame Dion, and that is because he was basically brainwashed into thinking that he is absolutely needed to make sure his siblings and the circus around him stays afloat. He does put his own pressure and responsibilities on himself now compared to only his parents doing it when he was a kid, but that is because that is all he knows. He literally does not know how to be a kid, but he also doesn't know how to be an adult.
He knows hot to NOT be a kid and so that means he thinks he knows what being an adult is. But he doesn't. He doesn't want to be an adult, but he can't NOT be an adult without everything falling apart. So of course he is going to keep packing on responsibilities until he breaks under the pressure. It's all he knows how to do.

Ellie is a Clone Misunderstanding
So, I' sure most of us have seen a story/prompt or two about Ellie being on the Teen Titans or Young Justice right? Here's my question, does she tell them about her being a Clone, or does she just omit that from her resume?
Imagine a scenario where Ellie is on a mission with her team (Let's say YJ for this). They are nearly done, when she gets hit by some type of Ecto-Weapon in the middle of the fight?
She is hurt, but shrugs it off and continues the battle. In the end, the team manages to come out on Top, and they return to Base.
The others are fretting over Ellie, asking how she is doing and if she needs ant help. She's never once been hit while in Battle, her Phasing Powers are stronger than even Miss Martian, so they are understandably concerned for her health.
She tells them that she's fine, and goes off to her room to rest, telling them to drop it.
Later that night, one of her teammates goes to her room to fetch her for Dinner. They knock on the door, but she doesn't respond. After a while, they decide to just open the door and find Ellie collapsed on the floor. She never made it to her bed.
They rush her to the Medical Station, and call in the League.
While there, they try to figure out what happened, but nothing comes up with the Weapon that hit her. (They took it after the battle for study)
Eventually, they get the results back from the Doctors. Her cells are dying at an alarming rate. Her energy levels are Unstable. Her DNA is deteriorating. She's Destabilizing.
She's a Clone.
All the evidence is there. Her DNA is deteriorating because she wasn't made complete, and her Cells can't keep up with the damage anymore because of that.
If this Ellie is a Clone, what happened to the Real Ellie? When was she kidnapped? How did they not notice their friend being replaced by a Clone?!
They need answers, and unfortunately Ellie isn't waking up any time soon.

"What the fuck did you do!?" Sam snaps, glaring at Tucker.
"I don't know!" The man in the chair replies helplessly, fingers tapping desperately as they crash landed not even seconds ago. Quote nicely actually.
"Where are we? Is this a new dimension? Tucker! Is danny here??"
"Sam, I swear if I knew I would be telling you!"
She groans, opening the latch of the ship and storming out. It was normal, similar to their own world.
Sitting down on the gras, grasping the greens of this world, she hums at the thriving energy pulsing.
"Who are you?" A teen in clad red and black holds his bo staff threateningly at her, behind him following a guy flying and two- a girl and boy- hanging back.
"No, who are you? What's up with those costumes?"
The boy blinks, taken aback.
"That's Robin," the flying teen says with a gruff, arms crossed. "I'm super boy. We're the Young Justice, you landed in that shabby thing-" He threw a thumbs up at their ship.
"In our city."
Sam doesn't know what to make out of them.
"Okayyy, what's up with the costumes again?"
Robin pipes in. "We're heroes."
"No fucking way." Them? Heroes? What.
"Yes, way." The one boy from the back appears in milliseconds, puffing his chest with a grin.
The blond girl follows with a sigh, it's fond and not a moment later is she back in confused stance.
"I don't believe you."
