Summary: As if a 'normal' period wasn't bad enough...

Shugo dropped his bag in the hallway as he opened the door, eyes squinting in the dim light as he flicked the hallway switch. He couldn't hear you singing in the kitchen like usual, didn't hear the TV blasting a random movie like usual, there was no singing from the bathroom as you sat in the tub surrounded by bubbles.

It was utterly quiet.

He had been a little concerned when you hadn't attended the after game party, you were usually happy to meet his teammates and go out for food. He had trouble keeping Hinata, Bokuto and Atsumu calm while you were around. They were so adamant on showing off and being loud, each of them vying for your attention and causing a scene. But today you had barely spoke to him, one or two word responses to his texts and declining his calls. Instead of staying out with his team he had chosen to leave early and figure out why you were avoiding him so much.

"Babe?"

Head peering around the door he sighed in relief when he saw you lying on the bed curled up on your side. He could hear the small whimpers of distress, each noise tugging at his heart and when he walked over to you, he could feel the wetness on your face from a mixture of tears and sweat. As he squatted down he saw the hot water bottle on your stomach, the plethora of medication on the bedside table and the could see you massaging your stomach in tight circles.

"Sweetheart, why didn't you tell me?"

You shook your head adamantly, you had watched the boys play and celebrated their win at home by yourself. You had been all ready to go out for their post-game meal but your cramps had gone from niggling and irritating to flat out stabbing and devastating. Even after your strongest medications, a heat patch and hot water bottle you could barely move, your boobs were so painful that even your t-shirt against your nipples made you whimper in discomfort.

"Shh, I gotcha. Don't worry."

You couldn't help the whine of pain when the bed dipped, Shugo's hands pulling up your top gently to free your aching breasts. One hand tucked under them to take some of the pressure as he massaged them gently, the other hand rubbing small circles on your stomach. You could feel the heat radiating from his chest against your back, he must have taken his top off and lay behind you. He was always so warm, like your own life sized hot water bottle and had no issues with you using his warmth to ease the pain.

"Any better?"

"A bit... my boobs hurt so much, Meian. And the pills aren't working, I bled through two outfits and got one of your t-shirts dirty too. I'll wash it later, I'm sorry."

"Hey. Hey. Listen to me, do not apologise for this ok? Seeing you in pain kills me and I dont give two shits about my shirt. Just throw the damned thing in the trash, burn it for all I care."

"I just-"

"Baby, listen. Clothes and belongings mean shit all to me, you are the most important person in my life. OK?"

"OK."

Between the warmth of his body and the lull of his voice in your ear, the last thing you recalled was Shugo telling you the crazy antics of the team as your eyes drifted shut and you fell asleep.

I’m rereading Shugo Chara (it’s been years and the nostalgia I feel is immense) and I’ve got to be honest…

I think Amu and Ikuto is the funniest ship in the whole world.

Like, they just like each other. They like spending time with each other. Amu is genuinely comfortable around him until he starts flirting, then she’s mostly just kind of exasperated. All of Ikuto’s interactions with her are based on cats. He brings her food (human can not hunt for themself) and he lays on her (human is the most comfortable pillow) and he teases her (human must be kept on their toes). Like, he’s just a big ol’ cat and I love it.

But also, the manga is fucking hilarious.

When Kukai is graduating and everyone’s saying goodbye and Tadase asks “When I’m in trouble, can I talk to this picture I have of you?” When they’re all talking about what happens around springtime and Ikuto casually says “Being in heat. Because we’re cats.” and Amu’s respons is “Can he say that in this manga?” And Sensei… “Why are you still teaching here?” “I do have credentials.”

Ikuto is the funniest character. He brings cookies because he broke Amu’s tart. He brings ice cream because Utau dropped Kukai’s ice cream (and maybe Amu’s? I’m unclear) ((how did he even know that that happened? Does he have a sixth sense, “Someone just ruined my human’s meal. I have to fix this immediately.”)) He always shows up with a bag of food and just drops it on Amu, then leaves. He came here for one reason and one reason only, and it was to drop off food, bye.

My favourite part of the manga is Nadeshiko/Nagihiko. I love Amu’s comment early on “Nadeshiko changes so fast!” I love Temari, who just repeats “my kimono will get dirty.” And when they’re crawling through the vent or whatever, and Temari is crawling while still covering her face with her sleeve and says “my kimono is getting dirty.” Hilarious. I love Temari so much.

I love that Nadeshiko is Amu’s best friend. They are besties. The extra where Nagihiko breaks out of his house to spend time with Amu? Perfection. Nagihiko holding Amu’s hand, and when she points it out to him, he just goes “Oh yeah. I forgot I’m different today.” I love Nagihiko, he’s the best. The whole explanation is totally wild and honestly baffling, but I love Nagihiko and his weird ass family all the same.

I liked the show a lot as a kid, and I liked the manga even more. I think Amu and Ikuto are adorable. I think it’s funny that the characters don’t act like any elementary school students I’ve ever met (including the ones who were in elementary school with me). I like that Kukai is everyone’s favourite, and he’s just so chipper. I like Tadase’s wish being to conquer the world, and everyone agreeing to help him with it because “It’s fun :)” I especially like that Amu is consistently and constantly judging the capes.

Maybe it’s nostalgia colouring my view. Maybe I’m biased because it made me laugh a couple times. Maybe I just like Ikuto and Amu being comedic foils to each other. Whatever it may be, I really enjoy the manga. Would I recommend it? Yes. Would I recommend it if you’re going to be pissed by the age gap? No.

(“The age gap is so problematic!” But have you considered that they are funny?)

what was the first fandom you ever wrote for?

Ah! That was so long ago now! The answer is Shugo Chara! I had just gotten into Anime and loved Shugo Chara and the idea of having little charas that help you find your true self. And the relationship that Amu had with Ikuto was just brilliant. I read a fanfic for the first time after watching a lot of the show and reading the manga and thought, I can write better than this. So I started writing. I'm way past that first fic, but I love writing fanfic a lot so I don't know if I'll ever stop.

And yes, I still write for Shugo Chara. I'm even rewriting some of my old fics to make them better.

“Ah, where did you go Ikuto?" a frantic Tsukasa cried out as the man hurriedly ran around the house searching for the boy; he specifically had left Ikuto on his play mat in the living room while Tsukasa cleaned up the dishes from breakfast. To his knowledge, Ikuto would have safely remained lying on his back while playing with the hanging toys of the activity mat; there should not have been a concern that Ikuto would just up and move by himself!

Yoru, Ikuto's guardian character was fast asleep in his egg having stayed up all the previous night to help a very needy Ikuto; the cat Chara would joke that he would take the "night shift" duties while Tsukasa handled any daylight necessities for Ikuto.

As he bent under the tables, ran around the corners and searched the backyard, Tsukasa found himself heavily panting as his anxiety worsened; where did Ikuto go?

BAAAANNNGGG!

Just Atsumu reading some SasuNaru Lemon fic

Atsumu is glued to his phone as the bus drives. He’s seated next to Meian. Who just happens to look over curious about what has Atsumu’s attention since he’s so quiet for once. “Umm… Atsumu, are you reading Naruto?”

“Huh?” Atsumu says waiting for his brain to catch up, “Oh yeah! It’s just a story someone wrote online about Naruto and his best friend Sasuke hanging out on a farm. It’s uh fan fiction. It sounded good. Just confused why there’s a tag that says lemon.”

Meian starts sweating, “I know what fanfic is. But uh, Atsumu…”

Barns from across the isle asks, “Did you just say you’re reading a Naruto fanfic?”

“Ummm ya? So what? Mind ya business if you don’t like. I ain’t hurting no one.”

“Atsumu… I wrote fanfic… still write it occasionally. Where are you in the story?” Barns carefully asks.

“Not far. I’m at the part where Naruto is chasing after Saske… why?

“Oh god, he doesn’t know,” Meain covers his face.

“Have ya read it before? It’s pretty old like from before 2010.” Atsumu looks between Meian and Barns.

“Yes Atsumu. I’ve read it,” Meain begrudgingly admits.

Barns nods his head stifling a laugh, “Is the handle, LemWinged_ Hokage?”

“Yeah…” Atsumu is visibly very confused.

Barns then asks, “Atsumu, do you know what lemon means from that time?”

“Uhhhh no why?”

Barns starts to double over crying wiping away a tear, “Shu- Shugo you gotta tell him.”

“I-“ Meain struggles to get the words out, “Nope. I can’t he’s and adult… he should know...”

Foster over hears the last bit of the conversation then looks at the trio, “what’s so funny?”

Atsumu answers, “I dunno. They think it’s funny I’m reading fanfic about Naruto and Sasuke on a lemon farm.”

“And you said the author was who?” Foster asks.

“LemWinged_ Hokage” Atsumu replies “there’s tons of hits and has over 50 chapters.”

Foster says without skipping a beat, “Miya why the fuck are you reading porn on my bus? And you two, Meain and Barns, reading porn as a teen that explains so much. Although I was writing Naruto fanfic around that time so I really can’t say much… carry on just be quiet. Bokuto’s actually asleep right now.”

The trio’s mouths drop. Staring at their coach who turns back to his notebook as if nothing happened at all.

I must say, I did not expect to see your reblog of the Katekyo Hitman Reborn fan fic on my feed, I love that anime to death and I was VERY surprised when I saw Tsuna's name(I was half expecting it to be a character from another series, until I saw Reborn and read the post further)

Yeah I was there for the period of when that anime reached its peak in popularity. Took over my brain for a time certainly and had many a small fanfic ideas back in the day. Tsuna was one of the first characters I ever had the urge to just bully, alongside Allen Walker from D. Gray-man, characters like that I always want to mess with just to see them flustered.

But yeah, that blog is mostly dedicated to fanfictions of varying shows rather than a single piece of media. Not much in it at the moment, but it'll grow with time. Lot of anime I consumed as a kiddo, didn't matter how bad or fanservicey it was. Like DearS and Karin. And cute ones like Shugo Chara and Rozen Maiden. Just, lot of anime. Not as much anymore, my attention span has slacked off but that's fiiiiine.
