initially, you were grateful for him. completely naive and way too trusting of this deep sea creature. with an upper body of a human male's and the lower body of an octopus (aka tentacles), you were way too fascinated with him to understand why he would keep you alive.

but you slowly snapped out of your fascinated stupor and demanded for him to let you go. unluckily for you, it was too late and he had already finalised all of his plans to keep you with him, to make you his mate.

all you could do now was to try and rebel against him, to push back his plans of officially marking you as his mate. though it seems like it won't be for long until he finally gets what he wants.

Dark Matter by @mysterycyclone , 221k, ongoing. this is a batman fanfic rec, of course my bbg dark matter is going to be here <3 this is a MCUxDCU crossover where after infinity war (spoilers for that if you haven’t seen it!) peter parker gets sent to the DCU dimension with part of the soul stone and basically is haunted by the ghosts of the avengers while trying to survive in gotham and get back to his dimension. this is so well written i’ve read it at least three times, it’s still ongoing but trust me it is SO GOOD. i can’t properly describe it, but if you like spider-man and you are interested in batman, you’ll love.

Red is the Color of Sinners by @bluelotuswrites , series, 120k, ongoing, M. i want you to look me in my eyes when i tell you this is my favorite series on ao3. it is set after under the red hood and daredevil 3 where jason and matt meet in a church after jason loses his ability to speak following the events of UTRH. they keep running into each other both as matt and daredevil and eventually jason begins helping matt out with injuries and tech. it’s not finished yet, but there is something so compelling about their dynamic in this series as well as jason’s overall character and how he is portrayed. i’m a sucker for mute jason after UTRH and this series does so well giving him a fresh start and a place away from gotham to heal and build relationships. i cannot recommend enough.

buy back the secrets by @vinelark , 71k, ongoing, T. THIS!!! oh my god, so this is a timkon fic where kon still doesn’t know tim’s civilian identity, but whenever he’s in trouble tim calls for superboy which leads to them meeting without kon knowing. shenanigans ensure when kon starts spending more time with tim! it’s still ongoing but the author is currently working on the next part and it is so so worth the wait. chapter 4 ends on a cliffhanger though so be warned :))

Sales People Know (listening is the most important part) by Mayhem10, 77k, completed, T. this has the coolest urban magical realism ever. tim basically runs this magic shop that shows up places and people who need something find it in his shop :) it’s kinda a slow burn found family fic with magic themes and a smidge of angst!

Retrograde Motion by Lysical, 112k, completed, T. this is best de-aged kid fic ever. jason gets turned into a 7 year old and basically the outlaws, artemis and biz, join forces with the batfam to take care of him. but trust me when i say this is worth your time, it might sound tropey but in the best way possible!! and jason’s relationship with artemis is sooo important to me in this!

Hand in Unloveable Hand (a chokehold) by britishparty, 54k, completed, M. this is one of the best psychological torture/grooming fics i’ve ever read. pretty much what if while our taking photos of batman and robin, little tim gets kidnapped and black mask gets his hands on him and decides he’s the perfect size for a protege. years of psychological abuse and insane mind games ensue. also tim is a Badass™️

If He Had Come by bronwe_iris, 45k, completed, T. so i’m a little freak and i love the angst of arkham knight jason, but more specifically the aus where bruce saves jason before he becomes the arkham knight! this is an au where bruce finds jason and saves him from the joker after 9 months of torture and brings him home. focuses on his healing mentally and physically and rebuilding his relationship with his family

catch the asteroids that come your way by ThePackWantsTheD, 54k, completed, T. i don’t read a lot of ships in the batman fandom i’m sorry, but this kyle/jason one is sooo lovely. basically the two of them growing up together and falling in love and then dealing with the aftermath of A Death in the Family and finding each other again :) really sweet and nice!

Names are powerful in Hell– nowhere near as powerful as contracts, but still. When you give someone your true name, they gain a certain level of power over you, which is why contracts are usually signed using human names. Only the most audacious overlords (eg. Alastor, Valentino, Carmilla, Rosie) still use the names they had when they were alive.

Intellectually, Angel knows that Vox isn't in a mental state where he can or would even want to take advantage of this, and it's entirely possible that he may just completely forget Niffty's human name at any moment, but it still puts him on edge. Angel likes Niffty and wants to keep her safe. Regardless of how far Vox has fallen, Angel can't help but still see him as somewhat of a threat.

Ryoshu and Rodya friendship where they sometimes sleep in each other's room when it gets too much in theirs.

When the candlelight in Ryoshu's gets too bright and suffocating with the heat and reminds her too much of the fire her daughter died in sometimes she knocks (more of. just letting herself in lmao) on Rodya's door to literally cool off.

Sometimes when Rodya's room freezes her down to the bone to the point where that she can't sleep, and the stench and sight of her dead neighbors haunts her every senses, Ryoshu gets a quiet knock on her door, and an even more surprising, a solemnly quiet Rodya outside, asking her if she can take a quick snooze here because she doesn't wanna go out and do the night watch.

Idk if you’re familiar with the HC that ghouls build nests, but imagine Swiss making a cozy little nest in the papal suite, or where she’s staying, for Sister while she’s pregnant because his little ghoul brain says “Pregnant mate, must PROTECT, and FEED, and KEEP WARM!” And he barely lets her out of the nest unless she needs to pee, and he like even brings her meals and snacks and stuff 🥺. Also him bringing little toys and baby clothes into the nest once the baby(s) born! He growls and hisses when anyone gets near the nest; he accepts Copia and Terzo being there (and Veritas if we’re going Copia x Terzo x Veritas x Swiss x Sis. Side note, we need to find a shorter ship name for that ASAP! I propose CTVSS, not only because it looks like you’re talking about CTVs and would confuse the outsiders, but is all of their initials lol. Feel free to suggest better ideas!), but only if they let him stay in the room to “supervise” (really he just doesn’t want to be left out of the action if it gets steamy 😏. I think he’s the jealous type!).

Like even if Sister was pregnant with Copia/Terzo's babies and not Swiss' kits, I feel like Swiss would be like OMG MY BONDED MASTER IS WITH CHILD SHE MUST DO NOTHING BUT NEST and she would be like yo Swiss chill the fuck out. She would appreciate it towards the end if she was pregnant with multiples, speaking from experience ahaha, mainly because if she drops something it is dead to her. She'd summon Swiss just to pick up a scroll she dropped in the library or a fork in the dining room. This would 100% extend to when Swiss feels her desire for any craving (my bff cried over a panera sandwich when she was pregnant; i ugly sobbed because i wanted my mom's homemade cooking but it was 2020 and COVID was at its height and we didn't know how it effected pregnant women yet so we had to stay away from each other to be safe) he would just appear with whatever in hand and poof off. Terzo would be like yo stop stealing my bonus points!!

Once the baby is born? Oh my lord the three men in her life would be like rabid with each other no matter who's baby it was. Like throwing elbows to hold this baby because it is the extension of the person they care for/love the most in the whole world. Sister would 100% find Terzo rocking and singing at their baby, Copia would always have the baby with him reading when they couldn't sleep, and Swiss would curl up with the baby in the crib knowing their purring soothed them to sleep.

Now do I think Swiss would be an absolute menace if it was his kits? The Clergy would contemplate just moving Swiss and Sister into their own home because if any other male (besides Copia, Terzo, and/or Veritas if were going that route) in the building looked at her for too long he would absolutely tear his mask off and go full feral ghoul. If we use the current era ghouls in this line of thought, Dew does this to rile him up till Aether swears he's going to kick his ass with his guitar. Swiss and Sister would be locked in their rooms till the bab(ies) are like 3 months and Swiss natural protective instinct settles back down and then they could introduce the babies properly to everyone.

Now if we're going with the CTVSS angle, this is how my brain pictures it. Copia, Terzo and Swiss are excited; Veritas is mildly terrified of children and therefor faints when she tells them that she's pregnant. Veritas is also very anxious through the whole pregnancy, to the point of being distant. Sister would have to coax him out of his mind a bit before he'd warm up to the idea of a child that he would call his own. Even after the baby is born and confirmed to be his and his alone, Veritas is skittish with them. They are so small and delicate, how could he care for them without breaking them? Without hurting them like those in his past? He is helpful in other ways that are easier for him; washing bottles, gathering all the extra baby laundry, making sure Mom and the other dads are fed and sleeping when they can. But actual day to day baby care? Not unless he is the only one and even then sometimes he calls for Swiss who comes only because he can sense the terror rolling off Veritas despite not being his bonded ghoul.

It isn't till the first night where Terzo, Copia and Swiss are on the road (no time off for the Ghost Project Dads when the babies isn't theirs per Imperator that stone cold bitch lol) that he really bonds with the baby. Sister is sleeping and the baby wakes up, he feels guilty and decides to check on the child himself. In the dimly lit bedroom, bassinet at the foot of the bed, he take his child and starts to cry when the baby snuggles into his chest with a quiet warbled cry. After that? Veritas cannot and will not share that baby with anyone else; in fact he turns into such a baby hog so much that Copia, Terzo, and Swiss jump her the minute they get home and demand they have another.

you know, it's not like you were ugly, dumb or poor. in fact, you consider yourself rather attractive, smart and quite rich. but it seems that no one has noticed that which... might've been why you were single for a very long period of time.

very meaning from when you were born up until recently.

you had always desired for a relationship. wanting to experience the joys of love, the romance, the contentment you get whenever you're with that special someone.

unfortunately you never got to experience that. never. even after putting down your dignity and renting a boyfriend.

you had rented a rather pretty looking guy from this... dodgy website called 'rent-a-darling'? was that the name? it probably is. what a weird website it's called. anyways, it was basically a rental boyfriend/girlfriend website and you had absolutely struck gold with it.

perfect face, perfect body, incredibly intelligent... he was basically a work of art. and his personality wasn't half that bad either! he cracked jokes and they were entertaining enough! he made you laugh, feel better about your miserable love life...

but he just wasn't it.

so you decided to end contact with him. there was no point in continuing that rental service anyways. it's not like he'd like you back even if you fell for him.

except that was exactly what happened?? a few days after you officially ended your contact with your absolute god of a rental boyfriend, he showed up at your doorstep, panting as a lovesick look paints his beautiful features.

you were concerned to say the least. after all, you had never seen him act in such a way before. which was why you allowed him in... which led you to your current situation which was far from ideal.

"could you let me go please? my arms are sore..."

you merely sigh in response, looking away as you grow awkward under his obsessed gaze. this has been the fifth day since he tied you up, only allowing you to leave the bed for meals and the toilet.

he pauses for a second, hummung contently as he shuts his eyes for a bit.

"I'm not sure why,"

his eyes open again and he continues his sentence. this time, you can't help but feel an impending sense of dread in your gut when he speaks.

"i guess i just really adore you."

he then giggles oddly, tugging at your bedsheets as his face nears yours.

"you complete me, my love."

you grimace as his face nears yours. ugh, what you wanted was that lovey dovey shit you saw on television. not whatever this was. kidnapping and constant moans of how your captor loves you.

but oh well, it is a relationship. just not the one you wanted. maybe you could learn to deal with it-

"darling! if you tell me how much you love me, block everyone else you know, leave your job, and promise to run away with me, I'll untie you! how about it?"
