Does anyone else absolutely HATE white noise? When it comes to other frequencies, I don’t mind them as much (like brown noise), because they sound much smoother to my ears and less harsh.
Here’s what brown noise sounds like if anyone is curious.

The tv is completely off but I can hear it buzzing. Its like a fly but it's constant and a bit lower pitched. I often also hear lights. I don't think that's normal.

Note: Sound sensitivity isn't exclusive to autism, but is incredibly common in autistic people. It's also one of the difficulties that people often cannot understand and grossly underestimate if they do not experience it themselves. I'll repost this soon with visual descriptions (I'm currently sick with COVID-19). If you find anything I post helpful, please consider buying me a Ko-Fi.

Unskippable ads of someone eating or slurping should illigal. Your unskippable ad already has me annoyed with you. If you're going to make it a sound that makes my hackles raise and has me trying to melt my head into my shoulders like a turtle in a shell I'm absolutely not getting your product

No longer using responses as of June 25th, 2023. However, you’re free to still answer the questions if you want a place to talk/rant about your experiences!
Misophonia Survey - reblogs appreciated!!!
HAI!!! Ok. So. Misophonia, - when you hear certain sounds made by others that [drive you mad], give you a feeling of abnormal disgust, anger, or discomfort. I have that! It really sucks!!!! And I want more people to know about it! For those unfamiliar but wanting to learn, this is a good base article to read.
I'm working on a project based around misophonia for school, and one part of this is a survey - and I'd really appreciate, if you know/believe you have it, if you'd spare some time to fill it out...?
It's completely anonymous :3 There's a place to give a name, but only if you want to. You can use it as a place to vent, You can be as lengthy as you want, or as short as you can possibly manage. However you wish to be!! There is verrry small mention of self harm at the scale-based question, but that's it.
14 questions: 2 for your name/consent, 3 multiple choice questions, 8 open-ended text questions, and 1 bonus one for misokinesia.
For those who followed me for art,, Help me share this and i can get back even faster ;) ;). asjdfgdnf That felt evil sorry! This is a really important topic to me o|-<
If you don't have it yourself, but still reblog it, thank you so so so much!!!

people with misophonia/sound sensitivity who use iPhone- did you know about the background noise feature?
Tumblr media
found under accessibility > audio and visual
Tumblr media
as you can see you can customize the effect and choose whether or not it plays when music or videos are playing (really helps people like me who are easily bothered by quiet/silent portions in music)
Tumblr media
you can choose between these sounds. as you can see “dark noise” is my personal favorite. if you can’t see this option in your settings update your phone. ok bye have fun

i just saw a youtube video demonizing people with sound sensitive SPD so heres my take
if someone on a plane, a bus, whatever somewhere loud, doesnt want to sit somewhere near a baby, they're allowed to ask to change seats. babies are loud. don't call them a karen because they care about their mental health
speaking from experience, when someone with avoidant SPD gets overwhelmed it can be really bad. it can cause outbursts if we don't have a good coping mechanism
please be considerate

does anyone know of any reasonably priced headphones that will actually stay on my apparently small head?? This is kind of infuriating. They’re all “adjustable” but only from large to even larger. What the fuck help :/

Me, walking out my room and into the room next to mine: hey, do you have sinus? Or are you coming down with a cold or something?
Person: yeah actually. How'd you know?
Me: I can hear you breathing from the next room

I’m trying to stop hating myself for not being able to get “on board” with the ideals capitalism.
It is made to trap you into a certain lifestyle and set of beliefs.
I am doing my best to divest as much as I’m able.
This also means being kind to myself when I feel like a failure because I’m not meeting heteronormative, neurotypical, capitalist expectations.
I’m trying to not even WANT to meet those standards anymore, but it does make me feel like an outcast and a pariah and very cautious of whom I open up to irl because I’m afraid of someone wanting to fight me (I live in Florida).
I think I present as too feminine for people to mess with, but the more I have the confidence to be myself in public, and the more I contemplate trying to write music again and perform the more scared I am of ridicule.
I’m hoping I can write songs that speak for themselves so I don’t have to try to sell them.
Adrianne Lenker has been a huge inspiration to me.
Realizing I prefer soft acoustic music and not forcing myself to listen to things that are overstimulating has been big for me as well.
I’m going to try to write songs that are honest representations of myself and not what I think other people want to hear.
It is hard.
