Hey guys, I was thinking here and gosh, the Pokémon Anime really looked at some strong Pokémon and said "have this poorly build moveset" didn't it?
I mean, we all know they can be pretty sloppy with the moves' effects and what Pokémon should be capable to learn them and such... But then sometimes they would be careful to select the moveset of an important Pokémon just so they could deliberately give a really bad moveset to them AKKAKAKKAKAK
Doubts? Come with me and remember five strong Pokémon with really bad movesets listed in the rant below:
5. Ash's Charizard's Unova Return moveset
Tumblr media
Flamethrower, Slash, Wing Attack & Dragon Tail.
Starting with one that was for a long time the strongest Pokémon ever owned by our favorite 10 years old kid, Charizard. Who didn't get hyped when heard he was returning to the anime in Unova? Who didn't jump on their chairs watching his battle against Iris' Dragonite? I know, me too...
In fact that's not really a bad moveset at all, Flamethrower is the most iconic Fire-Type move for a reason and has always been one move Ash's Charizard always kept, Wing Attack brings a STAB to his second type, what is always welcome, Slash has a high critical-ratio and Dragon Tail brings a good response to the, by the time sovereign, Dragon-Type
But then... C'mon it's Gen V!! Wing Attack is an early route bird move, why is it here when he could have Air Slash? Why not give him Shadow Claw, bringing the same effect of Slash but with Ghost-Type, bringing two advantages to the fire lizard's set? Slash was not super effect against any type after all. Why not give either Dragon Pulse or Dragon Claw, that were stronger Dragon Tail and had no secondary effect to the anime ignore?
And that's just basing on this moveset, but our Charizard have already counted with more powerful moves even before go to train in the Charicific Valley, like Submission, that would deal well with the Rock-Types, and after training with the Charizards from the Charicific Valley he always came back with stronger moves, like Steel Wing, other that was a perfect counter to his main weakness: the Rock-Type, or even the Overheat, one of the strongest Fire-Type moves he can learn and that he used against an all mighty Articuno. I would even say Dragon Breath was a good call to keep, same base power as Dragon Tail but with a side effect not always ignored by the anime... Why not bring any of these moves back or bring some of the strongest like Solar Beam and Iron Tail? It because I don't want start a rant about why he deserved Blast Burn as a treat since Pignite got Fire Pledge.
Anyways, Ash's Charizard surely deserved a better moveset to his return in Unova.
4. Ash's Greninja's final moveset
Tumblr media
Water Shuriken, Double Team, Aerial Ace & Cut
I podered a lot about who between Greninja and Charizard got the worst moveset, but I think now is clear that Greninja got the worst between these two.
Double Team is an OK move, in the games it can become really dangerous if the opponent manage to successfully use it more than twice and the anime does extract its nature well and Aerial Ace is undoubtedly the best choice of this set: it hits super effective in Grass-, Fighting- and Bug- Types, three weaknesses covered by a single move (Learn, Charizard😤).
But then... Water Shuriken have as advantage the fact it is a multi-strike move and as disadvantage the fact it is a multi-strike move 🙃 generally are 2 to 3 weak hits that barely deals some decent damage, but with some luck you can get up to 5 hits, what makes a considerable damage plus, each one have its own chance to be a critical hit, one more advantage is the priority of the move (although in the anime it is fairly ignored '3') and one advantage very specific to Ash's Greninja is that this move specifically receives a singular boost from the Ash-Greninja transformation... All of this to say: not that good, but since it's Ash's Greninja and the AniPoke's case, good in this specific case...
And then comes Cut... Cut... CUT!!! The weak HM move, the main reason why we dedicate a separated Pokémon to learn the HM moves because of how much weak this move is, such a bad move that when they distributed Ash's Greninja to the games they made the on point choice to switch for Night Slash: far more powerful AND a STAB, what makes me wonder why didn't they ever made him learn in the anime.
The worst part of this moveset is that it's kept ever since Greninja evolves and is never changed, not even when some episodes were perfect to this, such like the episode pre-rematch vs Wufric, the exchange of Cut by Night Slash would be just a perfect match to Ash and Greninja mastering the Ash-Greninja form... WE WERE ROBBED!!! THERE'S NO REASON TO NOT GIVE HIM A BETTER MOVE!!!
Want Greninja's moves to resemble ninja weapons? Make the Night Slash a katana! Wants him to continue to make a kunai because it's ninjier? Make it be a purplish~blackish kunai! Easy like that! Night Slash would be the perfect evolution to Cut AND the Anime never limited itself to the 'HM moves can't be forgotten' rule before, and surely didn't stop it there 😤
Sorry Greninja, but Cut I can't forgive...
3. Sawyer's Sceptile's final moveset
Tumblr media
Frenzy Plant, Leaf Storm, Leaf Blade & Dragon Claw
Well, the worst part is that each of these moves are great individually, but the fact this moveset combos Leaf Storm, move that will lower the Special Attack Stat after every use, thus weakening itself, and Frenzy Plant, move categorized as Special Attack that makes the Pokémon vunerable after its usage, makes it fall really down. GOSH, Sawyer was hyped as an observer and great strategist, WHAT HECK WAS HE THINKING WHEN PUT THESE TWO MOVES TOGETHER???!!!
Why did he think it was a good idea to put both moves together??? If it wasn't the anime, after a time the Frenzy Plant would be dealing damage of a Leafage but still forcing a recharge turn *facepalms*
Leaf Blade and Dragon Claw being together are the best choice however as they are two strong STABs + they're physical, what means repeated usage of Leaf Storm is not weakening them. But still, three STABs of the same type and one of the secondary (as Mega Evolution only) is not that genius thing you'd expect of somebody who successfully used a Slaking in the league.
Really, a Thunder Punch to deal with the Flying-Types or Brick Break or Focus Blast to deal with the Ice-Types or even Iron Tail to deal with Ice- and Fairy-Types would be far a wiser choice (Also Mega Sceptile's quirk of launching its tail would bring a really interesting way to use this last suggested move btw)... Take your bronze medal Sceptile.
2. Cynthia's Garchomp's Masters Tournament moveset
Tumblr media
Draco Meteor, Scale Shot, Dragon Claw & Stealth Rock
Then you look to the other Pokémon Cynthia brought to the Masters Tournament and realize they all got better movesets 👁️👄👁️
There's no way this choice was not thinking in nerf Garchomp because GOSH, three STABs of one single out of the TWO Types this pokémon have + Stealth Fucking Rock of all moves... WHY?!?! DIDN'T THEY THINK WE TRUSTED ASH'S SKILLS ENOUGH?!?! (maybe y'all didn't, but that's not excuse!! THEY WERE GOING TO PROVE YOU WRONG ANYWAY!!!)
The only well thought on this is that Draco Meteor, move that reduces Special Attack, was along just physical moves... But then all Dragon-Type moves, Cynthia's lucky Ash didn't bring Mr. Mime to this tournament... But she's Cynthia, she SHOULDN'T have to count on luck, SHE NEVER NEEDED THAT BEFORE!! SHE ALWAYS HAD MOVES TO COVER!!
Her Garchomp's very first moveset was already far more covered than that with Dig, Dragon Rush, Giga Impact and Brick Break, one of Games' Cynthia's Garchomp moveset is basically the same but with Earthquake... Why not bring these moves??! Why wasn't the Sinnoh Champion's Ace ever allowed to have any Ground-Type STAB afterwards?? Why wasn't one of the most OP Pokémon known by the Pokémon Fans allowed to be OP?? Where are the cover moves?
The worst is that the last move in this set is Stealth Rock... WHO THE HECK USES GARCHOMP AS A HAZARD SETTER???
Garchomp is an offensive Pokémon, an attacker, the right way to use one is teach them the four moves that are the best STABs and covers in your vision and press A to obliterate your enemies! That's what I do, that's what many players do, that's what Games' Cynthia does, THAT'S EVEN WHAT DEBUT CYNTHIA DID 😤😤😤 GARCHOMP'S NOT A HAZARD SETTER. THEY DON'T MATCH IN ANY ANGLE WITH STEALTH FUCKING ROCK!!
If you want any status move, you add a Sandstorm or a Swords Dance, they will match a LOT more with your Garchomp, not kidding, Stealth Rock was used in the worst way AND time possibly.
Funnily enough the choice to teach Scale Shot was probably a way of the anime to portray Cynthia as updated and aware towards the new moves BUT THEY COULD'VE BROUGHT STOMPING TANTRUM OR SCORCHING SAND THAT WOULD BE MORE CONVINCING AS IT RECEIVES STAB FROM GARCHOMP'S SECONDARY TYPE!! 😤😤
So sad considering how diversified are the moves Garchomp can learn... This moveset deserved gold medal in being the worst... But unfortunately they made one worse 🫥
1. Stephan's Zebstrika's Unova League moveset
Tumblr media
Double Edge, Stomp, Facade & Giga Impact
There's no words to define how shitty this moveset is, if Sawyer's Sceptile and Cynthia's Garchomp at least rely on STABs, Stephan's Zebstrika DOESN'T EVEN COUNT ON IT!!!
Individually they are all good moves: Stomp is fairly strong and can cause the opponent to flinch, Facade is also fairly strong and causes massive damage under negative status, and Double Edge & Giga Impact both cause massive damage anyway despite their respective backlashes.
All Normal-Type moves though, so he doesn't receive STAB in any of these, he also doesn't have the Scrappy ability to be able to stand against Ghost-Types, so a single Litwick could obliterate him, he can't land super effective hits, don't count on it, he can't cause any status, he can't recover health, he can't raise his speed since he forgot Flame Charge, this moveset is so genius that a Litwick would have no problem sweeping the floor with this poor zebra, someone save this pokémon 😤
Moral of the story: Just find a Grass-Type if you need to deal with your rival's Water/Ground-Type, the way you'll nerf your Electric-Type is shameful. Who's gonna give his plastic gold medal?

As per usual, I love imagining Pokémon characters in scenarios I find myself in, so naturally I’ve thought about aged-up Best Wishes characters going on vacation to a tropical island resort together. Here’s the Unova crew’s drink orders at the swim-up bar:
Ash - a Mudslide. He said “get me whatever tastes the least like alcohol” so essentially a delicious chocolate milkshake-based drink is totally his vibe. Until he likes it so much that he has like four more and it fucks him up later.
Iris - a Malibu Bay Breeze. Iris loves anything sweet and fruity with just a hint of tang so this is perfect for her!
Cilan - a Mojito. Light and refreshing with a hint of flavor in the gin, lime and mint. It’s definitely his speed.
Trip - an Aperol Spritz. Classy as hell but not overly complicated either. Of course, “camera drinks first” - he needs to get an aesthetic picture amongst the tropical beach backdrop before taking a sip.
Bianca - a classic Piña Colada. Like Ash, I can’t see Bianca liking drinks that are overly strong, so this coconut-y treat is just right and fits her sometimes nutty personality (I say this with the utmost affection).
Stephan - a Strawberry Daiquiri! Stephan takes full advantage of the fitness center and athletic facilities at the resort, so naturally he’s gonna want something refreshing and frosty to cool off.
Georgia - a classic Margarita. Georgia is 100% a tequila girlie and the sourness of this drink goes perfectly with her snarky personality.
Burgundy - Sangria! Of course I had to incorporate wine somehow for my favorite connoisseuse, so a nice iced (red) sangria with fruit is definitely her vibe. She makes sure to flaunt her drink, in its fancy glass, around Cilan so that he’s aware of how “classy” she is, and then makes a snide remark about how his mojito is a “predictable choice”.
Cameron - a Blue Hawaiian! The vivid blue of this drink matches Cameron’s eyes and I think he’d be mesmerized so much by the color and little paper umbrella it comes with that he just has to try it out. He later regrets it when he has like three and is puking blue all night in his shared hotel room with Stephan, Trip and Virgil.
Virgil - a Mai Tai. Similar to Trip, this drink is classy, simple, but just as flavorful. I don’t really have an eloquent description or explanation of why this fits Virgil, it just does.
Luke - a Vodka Martini. Luke doesn’t know much about alcohol but wants whatever iconic drinks he sees in his favorite movies. So naturally, channeling his inner James Bond (or whatever Poké-equivalent), he smirks, glasses glinting, and orders a vodka martini- “shaken, not stirred”- while the rest of the gang stares at him, dumbfounded. It’s not until he takes a single sip and coughs violently that Ash smiles sympathetically before ordering his friend a Mudslide to wash it down with.

Hello I draw Marvel shit now , deal with it (i still love Pokémon though)
Context on why I drew these specific characters Uhhm I decided I wanted to draw every Marvel character with my MBTI - the INTJs.
I am not done yet and I know there are others that people say are INTJs but like.. dude.. they’re not. I’m drawing the ones I’m 99% sure are INTJs (I am not drawing fucking Thanos dude)
Characters drawn so far:
Doctor Stephan Strange
Baron Helmut Zemo
Xu Xialang
Taneleer Tivan (the collector)
Characters still in progress of being drawn:
Otto Octavius
Gorr the God Butcherer
Uhhhh give me suggestions of what MBTI you’d wanna see next, I’ll probably do INFJs but I’ll make a list of you decide to request any.
Ill try to post frequently with these :p

Concept art for the Blueberry Academy portion of the Indigo Disk. Since it’s set in Unova, and rampant speculation is going on about new Unova centric games next year, I included Iris, Cilan, Cameron and Team Rocket’s Basculin sub as returning Best Wishes representatives. Stephan and Sawk have also returned, participating in the Blueberry League along with Ash, Alfie, Cameron and Nemona.
I thought Applin would be a fun match up for Iris, and it will probably evolve to Dipplin and whatever the final form of Dipplin will be. Cameron gets a Toxel because it seemed like a fun fit for his personality and replacement for his Rilou as his traveling Pokémon. (He still as Lucario though, I just liked his funny dynamic with a “baby” Pokémon).
I wanted to include Zekrom along with Raging Bolt in the picture, but didn’t want to completely commit to other BW stuff just yet, and left the big dragon out for now.

Negaishipping: "Speak Now"
art: @moonxpalace 💗
All of Iris' friends know she's in love with Ash. She's straightforward with many things, not with this, though. So when she sudenly gets an invitation for Ash's wedding, they all ask her "are you gonna speak now?".
PART 1
Tumblr media
Even though they hadn't seen each other for a long time, Iris still loved Ash romantically- that was probably the only thing she'd shut up about for the rest of her life. Or so she thought.
One day, she received a letter from him. This wasn't unusual, since they wrote to each other all the time. What was unusual, was the content of said letter.  "Ash and ... would be delighted if Iris joined them to celebrate their marriage at..." That was enough for her to stop reading. She started laughing, because that had to be a joke, right?
Of course, everyone else received invitations as well. The Striaton brothers, Bianca, Trip, Stephan, Luke, Burgundy, Georgia... They were all worried for Iris, even Georgia. They tried to call her but she wouldn't answer the phone, she wouldn't open the door, she didn't want to talk to anyone.
The pokémon were worried for their trainer too. Excadrill had had enough, so in one of those unsuccessful visits, he opened the door himself.
"Hey, are you gonna speak now?" Georgia asked.
"I'll play guitar", Bianca added.
PART 2
art: @moonxpalace 💜
Tumblr media
The Unova group had travelled to Kanto for the wedding day... except for Iris. She had stayed at home with Drayden, training.
Before the event started, they all went to greet and congratulate the groom, who looked disappointed... when he didn't see "his best friend" there. And everyone had the same question on mind, but nobody wanted to ask. "Why her? Why not Iris?".
"I didn't even know you and ... were a couple" Cilan quickly said. He was immensely proud of his friend, however, this all had a bitter taste.
"Mhm, yeah..." Ash brushed it off like he didn't care.
"You do realize you're getting married, right?".
"Yeah!", he laughed, "I'm just so nervous!".
Meanwhile, in Opelucid City, Iris started to regret her decision. Was she being mean or selfish? Whether she loved Ash romantically or not, this was still her friend and it was such an important day for him.
PART 3
... Iris arrived just in time, all thanks to Dragonite! She sneaked in and saw her friends, Ash's friends, and the bride. She hid in the curtains. Now what? She felt embarrassed and didn't really want to be seen.
We are gathered here today, to join together Ash Ketchum and ... in holy matrimony...
A tear rolled down Iris' face. She was there, at the wedding of the person she loved- not even as a proper guest, just spying.
What if the bride was her? Everything would be better. This was her last chance...
These two persons present come now to be joined. Therefore, if anyone can show just cause why they may not be lawfully joined together, let them speak now or forever hold their peace.
"I object!". The girl with long, wild hair covered her mouth immediatly. She realized that what she just had done was bad, but she couldn't stop now. "I object because I love you, Ash! Don't say yes!".
The room was in complete silence. People looked at Iris, horrified, but she was only looking at Ash.
"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry everyone that you have to see this", she grabbed her purple dress tightly, "but please, please don't say yes".
A few people though, were trying to hold back their happy giggles, of course. Bianca, Georgia, Burgundy, even Cilan...
Pikachu jumped off Ash's shoulder and placed himself on Iris'. "Pika", he said nodding his head, as an "I agree".
"Thanks, Pikachu, it was nice seeing you. I guess I need to go now", she whispered before running away from the place.
Everyone was shocked. The bride glanced at Ash with disgust, like asking him "who was she?". He couldn't respond, all he could do was look her in the eyes and say "sorry" with them.
He quickly winked at Pikachu, who was still near the entrance after Iris had left; what that wink meant was "electrocute everyone". And in the confusion and shock, he ran off, leaving a very messy scene behind.
Outside the church, Ash ran and ran, trying to find the girl who interrupted his wedding. "Iris? Iris! I need to talk! I feel the same way!".
Still in high heels and a dress, she jumped off a tree. "Yes?".
"I didn't say yes", he whispered, smiling, getting another smile from her in return. He grabbed her hand, "it's always been you".
Iris wasn't the kind of girl to rudely barge in on a white veil ocassion. However, why would the boy he loved be in that kind of situation in the first place?
GUYS AAAAAAAAA, I think everyone knows that Speak Now is my favourite TS album and the re-recording is the best thing that's ever been mine !!! So I tried to write a short Negaishipping fanfic, imagining them in this kind of situation. I am so nervous jskdjkdj, it's been a long time since I wrote fanfics or stories, so sorry if it's bad. Btw I refer to the bride as "..." LMAO because I didn't know who could it be!! I was thinking of Serena but idk 😭 imagine if her fans see this and they all come at me aaaaa anyway bye I hope you liked it jskdj BYE

☀️random dumb things the writer recently thought about and/or realised (but it’s all related to the bw anime)
(Read more because this is so long)
— I always hated Burgundy for some reason when I was younger- and my blurry ass memory made me think it was probably about her hating Cilan so much but when I actually went back to the episode she was introduced in, I remembered exactly why I hated her.
She was kinda mean to Ash’s Oshawott. That was the literal reason I hated her so much for so many years. I apologise Burgundy, my dumb child brain just really liked that Oshawott.
— Georgia’s occupation really confused me and honestly still does. You’re telling me that you’ve made it your LIFE GOAL to chase down and defeat just Dragon-type trainers so much so that you literally call yourself ‘the Dragon Buster’? What the fuck happened to you. Did Dragon-types kill your grandma
The only positive I can genuinely give her is that she was understanding to Bianca confusing her with a Zorua multiple times, which seems like a low bar but anything can be somewhat redeeming for them. Plus she’s still around the same age as Ash and Iris, so it’s not like it’s really that bad. There’s definitely been worse.
— Bianca… confused me. Even now I’m still a little confused but I will never understand why they kept Bianca a rival character but still made Cheren into his b2w2 counterpart. I guess Trip was just sort of a stand-in for rival Cheren? But that still doesn’t really explain the exact timeline for the actual show. It’s mid-b2w2 based on the actual events after Cheren was introduced (and never seen again) as N is introduced the episode after— but it’s also not because the gym leaders that stepped down by b2w2 are still running their gyms, if not obvious by Lenora and Brycen— then by Cilan, Cress and Chili. They don’t even step down at the end of the bw anime— it’s just that Cilan goes on his own journey and bumps into Ash a few times afterwards. What time are we in??
— Burgh’s gym is ENTIRELY different in the anime. Not even just to the point where it’s simply that there’s no challenge— the LAYOUT ITSELF is different. No honey walls. No web stuff.. it’s just a big terrarium. Like, his gym wasn’t the only one that changed when brought into the anime but I don’t think any changed nearly as drastically.
— Lenora. Beautiful, stunning, no notes.
— I, for a long while, thought Elesa and Cynthia were the same character. Younger me saw two tall blonde women and thought ‘yeah. they’re the same.’ To the point that I thought moments from when Cynthia showed up in the bw anime were part of Elesa’s episode.
— Skyla, first cannons in the gameplay of your gym and then making decisions on whether a challenger would beat you based on their Pokémon’s weaknesses isn’t that bad.. but outright denial of their badge based on that? what did they do to you girl,,,
— I comically do not remember any of the scenes with Clay, Brycen or Marlon. I don’t know why— maybe those episodes are on the disc I currently can’t find?? I also don’t remember any of Drayton’s battle but I do remember him in Iris’s flashbacks.
— Ingo and Emmet canonically naruto running.
— Stephan getting his name constantly mispronounced is so sad, I actually really liked him. Give my boy justice.
— Cress’s stupid posh accent in contrast to Chili and Cilan’s is so dumb. Idiot thinks he sounds cool, clearly. /lhj
— SEVERE LACK OF E4 MEMBERS!!! An exchange between Ash and Grimsley would’ve been so stupid but the entire bw series was ALREADY STUPID!
I have no other thoughts that require shouting into the abyss so just have this from when I was trying to check something on Bianca’s bulbapedia page

Pokémon Best Wishes: Unova 101
Looking back on the Unova Saga in the Best Wishes series (so excluding the Decolore Islands Saga because fuck the Decolore Islands Saga even being a thing), I see that it has stretches of time amounting to 101 episodes (kind of, the situation with episodes 23 and 24 is...complicated) where it feels of generally high quality and consistently keeps my interest.
Tumblr media
Not every episode is stellar, of course, but the overall show itself is firing on all cylinders.
And then, there’s the rest.
Tumblr media
Interestingly enough, episodes 55-57 were actually supposed to be between episodes 63 and 64, but the scheduling mess-up following the 3/11 disaster caused them to be moved earlier. The problem I have with this stretch of the Unova Saga, beyond the insulting Mistralton Gym story it culminates in, is that the feeling of freshness and newness that had been prevalent up to this point just kind of disappears and everything feels same-y. There are several total filler episodes, there is a Team Rocket appearance where they feel like they’re just going through the motions for nebulously defined reasons, and even important things like Krokorok returning and Ash catching it feel underwhelming since it happens in what’s otherwise an anti-bullying PSA that has jack shit to do with anything! Episode 66, one of my favorites, is a stand-out...but even then not necessarily in a purely good way, as it’s pretty obvious that a Team Plasma appearance at this point got cut and the Golden Dark Stone and its relation to Zekrom never comes up again due to B2/W2 changing the trajectory of the series’ Myth Arc. The Donamite (episodes 71-75) and the Twist Mountain two-parter (episodes 77-78) were saving graces, but even they could often feel redundant, and of course then episodes 76 and 79-81 continued the feeling of genericness the writers had slipped into. It was a rough time.
The saga picked up again, ironically enough, once it had to switch gears from going to Opelucid City to going to Virbank City. However, in the otherwise excellent Meloetta and N arcs, there is an episode dedicated to showcasing a B2/W2 Gym Leader for no justifiable reason (episodes 96 and 113 respectively) that temporarily breaks my immersion altogether, that’s how bad and blatantly market-driven they are. And of course, there’s the Unova League arc through episodes 104-110, which beyond the Ash vs. Stephan battle in episode 108 is lacking in redeeming qualities and concludes on a notorious loss for Ash that rivals the one he had in Diamond/Pearl in the sheer “unfair” feeling it has. The Unova League suffered the most from the staff’s original B/W-based plan for the show being changed, as with it no longer being the climactic event they initially envisioned it being the writers barely even tried with it.
Oh well. A good portion of the period between the 5th and 7th badges plus the Unova League is a blemish on the saga, but a blemish doesn’t ruin the whole thing, which is still damn solid.

A while back I mentioned how I wanted to do a fanfic about Stephan and Tracey meeting each other. I wrote...some of it. Not sure if I'll ever finish like with most of the stuff I write
There was one interaction I really liked that I wanted to share, a littlel snippet.
The context is Stephan is traveling through Kanto to compete in the Indigo League. He was riding Zebstrika when they crossed paths with Tracey. They got to talking, still working on the whole plot point, but you know how Tracey is when he sees new Pokemon so...like that lol. Anyway they sit down for a break together and have a bite to eat when this conversation pops up.
Enjoy~
As Tracey and Stephan grew more comfortable in the camp setting, curiosity started to get the better of the young Pokémon watcher.  There was something about his new company and his Pokémon that he needed to know about.  He turned towards Stephan and asked, “Does Zebstrika always let you ride him like that?”
Stephan glanced in Tracey’s direction while he was setting his sandwich down on a plate.  Nobody really ever asked him before.  “Um, yeah.  For the most part.  I try not to ride him too often though cause I know carrying me around isn’t the easiest thing.  Plus all the supplies in my backpack.  Why do you ask?”
“I’ve just heard many trainers have difficulty taming them for rideability.  They’re a bit wild by nature when compared to other equine Pokémon and far more unpredictable.  Yet you handle yours so well.  What’s your secret?”
“Hmm…” he mumbled while looking down and scratching his chin.  Then he looked up again, right into Tracey’s curious eyes.  “Guess I don’t really have one.  Zebstrika just really trusts me, like I trust him.”
“I see.  Mutual trust…”
Stephan then flashed a grin, “It’s kinda funny though.”
“What is?”
“The way you described Zebstrika’s nature— 'wild and unpredictable’.  I think that describes me too.”  He paused for a bit and turned his eyes to his Pokémon.  Tracey only noticed then that their eye color was the same.  Stephan gently ran a hand down Zebstrika’s muzzle, prompting him to lean into the contact and closed his eyes.  “It’s like we were made for each other.”
Tracey smiled softly.  Sometimes the answers were really simple like that.  It was strange.  Something felt nostalgic to him in that moment—a headstrong trainer with his Electric-type partner.
They would absolutely get along.

To Ash,
You're no stranger to creative tactics in Pokémon battles, but what are the most interesting things you've seen other trainers do?
I witnessed a double battle where one trainer had an Alcremie and a Shedinja. The trainer had Alcremie use Entrainment on the opponent's Pokémon, which changes the target's Ability to the user's Ability. Shedinja then user's Mimic on Alcremie, which copies the target's last used move for five uses. The trainer then switches Alcremie for Arcanine. The Arcanine uses Burn Up, which trades off massive Fire damage at the cost of removing the user's Fire typing. Shedinja then uses Entrainment on Arcanine.
An Arcanine with the Ability Wonder Guard, where only super-effective moves will do damage. However, after Burn Up, Arcanine is no longer a Fire Type until they switch out, and typeless has no weaknesses. The Arcanine's trainer crushed the rest of the opponent's team.
Ash: Those are some really interesting techniques there! Kinda makes me wish I had more chances to do double or triple battles!
I think it's cool when other trainers use weather to power up their pokémon! Like that one guy who fought Stephan in the Clubsplosion tournament back in Unova. Seeing that huge Seismitoad running around like its weight was nothing was a sight to see... even if its trainer was kinda creepy.
But in terms of weird strategies, no one could beat Conway! Between his Shuckle's Power Trick and his Dusknoir's Trick Room, I guess you could say he was a...
Tricky opponent!

Headcanon:
Burgundy has two group chats, one with Iris, Luke, Bianca, Trip, and the BW game protags.
Her other group chat also has Bianca and Trip, however the difference is this group chat has Stephan and Georgia.
People may wonder why Georgia and Stephan have to be in a separate group chat from Iris and Luke, well it's because Georgia doesn't really get along with Iris at all (like seriously you could sense the tension between them even when they aren't fighting or making snide comment at each other) and while she does get along slightly better with Luke, they still aren't big fans of each other.
In Stephans case, while he does get along with everyone perfectly fine, he is definitely closer to the people in group chat #2 than in #1, and it is also because everyone in group chat #2 is okay with curse words and dirty jokes. (Bianca being an exception since she is okay hearing them, but she doesn't ever say them herself) whereas Iris, Luke, and the protags are not comfortable with that kind of talk.
Also note that the characters in group chat #2 are also slightly older than those in group chat #1, so they can do more things together, like sometimes the five of them will just plan outings together without group chat #1. Sounds kind of messed up but it is how it is.

One time I found myself watching an episode of the Pokémon anime dubbed into Spanish, and apparently the main joke of the episode was someone named Stephan who everyone kept calling Steven, but the dub changed "Steven" to the Spanish equivalent "Esteban" while keeping "Stephan" the same, so even though I couldn't understand most of the episode, I did have a laugh at how stupid everyone looked for confusing this guy's name with a very different sounding name.

1, 3, 14, and 20 for Georgia/Langley from Pokemon!! Btw, thank you for sending me Burgundy on this character ask game. <3
1. Why do you like or dislike this character?
I LOVE Georgia. Similar to Burgundy, I love how snarky she is and how much she’s willing to push her rival for a fair fight (Pokémon battle-wise). I think she has a really cool and unique design too and I’m glad she appeared in every Don George tournament alongside a few other episodes!
3. Least favorite canon thing about this character?
Literally the fact that we got so few episodes with her- similar to Cilan and Burgundy, I wish her rivalry with Iris had been fleshed out a lot more. I also wish we’d gotten to see more battles between her and Iris, perhaps her and Burgundy, and others.
14. Assign a fashion aesthetic to this character.
Oh gosh…maybe like…a mix of grunge, cyberpunk, Y2K but also like soft indie? Georgia’s canon outfit is pretty cute in general with the newsboy cap, so I can see her pulling off pretty much anything. I definitely see her being on the sportier side of things though, and not being one for too many frills or feminine touches, which is more Burgundy’s speed.
20. Which other character is the ideal best friend for this character, the amount of screentime they share doesn't matter?
Obviously, Burgundy is the first person that comes to mind, since they’ve had so much screentime together and are often seen making commentary together on the sidelines. Other than Burgundy, I also see her developing a really strong frenemy-ship with Iris (mainly because I headcanon that Georgia will eventually be one of Iris’s Elite 4). Other strong friendships I see include Trip (whom I ship Georgia romantically with, alongside Iris and Burgundy) and the other rivals from the Don George tournaments (Bianca, Stephan, etc.) In general, I see that group of rivals remaining very close and continuing to enter tournaments and hang out outside of Pokémon-related festivities.
