Hi mike!!!
Quick question! What is your favorite set out of all 4 of your shows on Netflix? I think they are the most amazing sets I’ve seen!
All of Crockett Island. We built every single structure you see in the show from scratch, and it still takes my breath away.
If you want a comprehensive look at how we did it all, I highly recommend Abbie Bernstein's book MIDNIGHT MASS: THE ART OF HORROR. It goes very in-depth into the sets and the production design.

How I’d handle a “The Terminator” remake:
If we’re keeping with the basic story (Terminator is sent to kill Sarah, Kyle Reese is sent to protect her), in order to play up the concept of an all-powerful infiltrator machine, the first third of the movie doesn’t make clear who the villain is. Instead of the hulking, monotone Arnold Schwarzenegger, this version of the T-800 is designed to be so human-like, any person can be fooled. So, less giant bodybuilder, more “Detroit Become Human”.
(Insert modern day commentary on A.I. fooling people)
Just for fun, let’s say our time travelers are played by Chris Evans and Joe Taslim. In case you don’t know these actors, you might recognize them as:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For the first 3rd, we don’t know who is Kyle Reese and who is the Terminator. They both act human enough and are both trying to find Sarah Connor. Also, this version of the Terminator is doing their best to blend in and is committing less crimes, so it’s not as obvious. Now the reason why I chose these actors is to also play around with the audience’s expectations. Chris Evans is known more for his heroic roles while Joe Taslim is known more for his villainous roles. By default, people would probably assume Chris is playing Kyle and Joe is playing the Terminator.
(Also, insert commentary about audiences thinking the darker, non-white guy is more likely to be the villain)
We then cut to the nightclub scene. Both Chris and Joe’s characters have found Sarah Connor. Chris gets to her first while Joe…starts pulling out a shotgun! But just when you think that Joe is the Terminator…Chris pulls out his gun and aims it at Sarah. Joe saves Sarah by shooting at Chris, only to realize his shots were ineffective.
That’s right. It turned out, Chris Evans is the Terminator while Joe Taslim is Kyle Reese.
Now I wanna emphasize, the characters don’t actually have to be played by either Chris or Joe. As long as the Terminator is played by someone known for heroic roles and Kyle is played by someone known for villainous roles, the switcheroo/subversion of expectations/fooling the audience should still work out.

Tom Sellek, Tom Arnold, Mark Wahlberg and Steve Guttenberg announce the final season of their show, whose name is not pronounceable by human tongues, which has been broadcast for 50,000 years, across every civilization and culture, and which has never been seen by a single human, including all four stars.
"All good things come to an end,” said Steve Guttenberg, accelerating.
"It's been a wild ride," said Tom Arnold, through the occulting five-dimensional prismatic sheath that bisects our planar reality from his own. "I'm gonna miss these bozos."
"I am every atom," said Mark Wahlberg in a phone conversation. "I am every length of space, in all spaces. I have held every lover in my arms. When I die, I will not die, and I will die forever."
"The True, Secret President of Earth messaged me on Instagram and said he's been a big fan for years, and he’s planning on tuning in for the final season, and that's just like, you know, one of those mind-blowing moments," said Tom Selleck as he was slowly lowered by a pulley and winch into the mouth of a 500-foot tall god.
Special guest stars in the final season are rumored to include every single living organism on earth, sorted by increasing size, as well as some returning favorites, like Regis Philbin.
“I can’t wait,” said Regis, directly to you, in your ear, whispering sensually. “Did you know? They’re extending my weekend. Regis Weekend. It’s extended for another day. Until November 22nd. One last day of Regis Weekend.” Regis smiled, and continued. “Wake up. Wake up. I need you to wake up.”

let me share a few ships i think about in the delirious hours of the night
Paranoia and Stabbim (just a skutter acting out orders to kill when it descovers that maybe he's the only one who can get through to the hallucination without making him paranoid, will it reveal it's previous orders and expose it's decietfull job (stabber) and maybe break Paranoia's fragile trust in the process? or do the orders exceed the man (the skutter) and does the ultimate tragic of killing a loved one befall in the hands (claws) of Stabbim when he can't resist orders anymore)
Talkie the Toaster and support force (unrequited love, Talkie ne'er has time to ponder the importance of support force in his life, he knows it excists, but toast will always win out. and support force knows that. it's happy to just hold Talkie up and take any breadcrums it gets as long as it can)
Cat deepthroathing those polymorph eggs (it could've worked out if she hadn't died immediately and he wouldn've killed all her children, but life happens i get it)
the overly polite swordsmen and Rimmer's courage and self confidence (they're making out sloppy style, they spotter eachothers hats and swords from across the room and it has been escalating at an alarming speed)
Sir. Francis Walsingham and the "i am a fish" exam paper (he would gladly be the fish. proxcimity to dear people affecting how one behaves and all that)
Carter Burke and Rimmer (they die a horrible death together, the thought of the other there doesn't comfort them because they know both want to leave the other as a sacrifice and run, so they try to make themselves un-abandonable. doesn't work. they suffer horribly with all hope lost)
The Sister Brothers and the Rimmer Monster (it's lesbian/ gay solidarity as they bitch about the world. my favourite)

Little Shop of Horrors (1986). A nerdy florist finds his chance for success and romance with the help of a giant man-eating plant who demands to be fed.
I can't believe I'd never seen this before? God, it's so much fun, with amazing puppetry, musical numbers and energy. It's high camp in every sense of the phrase, and also just the best time? Love it. 9/10.

"He was gay he said--and I could see he was waiting for my judgement, perhaps condemnation, and how relived he was when all I offered was acceptance."
