I've been thinking a lot about friendship. I'm trying to move away from immediate communication and general constant availability as much as I can given that it has a disastrous effect on my well being. However, that has lead me to reconsider how I approach friendships. Given the dominance of instant communication, it seems inevitable that much of our friendship is measured by response-times and general availability. I don't have clear definite new metrics to judge friendships, especially given that I have been considering whether I'd consider any of my presumed friendships as such, but it's been a good exercise to reconsider what I value in friendship, what I offer in friendship and what I require in a friendship.

maybe maybe a mistake taking astronomy; idk why I thought I'd suddenly be a physics mastermind just bc I have more motivation for it now. It's the first week and I have no actual clue what I'm doing (or more accurately: should be doing. Mostly so far it's been lots of staring and muttering of "what the fuck" in regular intervals)

Mock exams, again. This time the whole bundle of ones from 2020. Math class was cancelled today, our homework was to continue studying on our own so that’s what I did :‘) it was exhausting but also fun- tho I am getting tired of doing calculus lol I’ve reached the point of not being able to think straight so I’ll call it a night and leave studying for tomorrow.

After a whole weekend of studying I can say this isn't going to be an easy semester. Instrumental analysis (a mandatory class) is pretty demanding itself and I also have these three physicochemical electives. I'm not exactly complaining - this intersection of chemistry and physics is an extremely interesting place to explore! - but boy is it hard. On top of that, I agreed to tutor my godmother's daughter (her math teacher is an asshole and the poor girl is Struggling™️) bc clearly I am insane like a good challenge. Where I am going to squeeze in thesis work is a mystery to me as well

This month has been hellish. I'm fully aware that's a gross oversimplification, I've done some frankly amazing things such as run a 10K for the first time but my mental health has been a complete disaster which has led to ruined exams, a relapse of sorts I've rarely had in years and a general apathy that cut so uncompromisingly deep that all things life were horrendous to even imagine. I'm processing, working with it. It's provided me with the unsurprising yet completely novel insight that the many things I do have more than a slight twinge of OCD infused with them. It's already quite a year.
