unless explicitly stated, all my fics ignore anything related to jeid, and in my universe, maeve simply does not exist. i do like the idea that spencer and ethan may have had a romance in college

the following events are removed from canon: anything related to a jeid romance, maeve (i just can't have reader and spencer break up for her character to have her moment)

the following events are what i believe to have happened before this timeline began: spencer and ethan had a small (non-sexual) romance in college which is the real reason why they hadn't spoken in years, spencer is a virgin, lila archer events did occur, however i do not believe he had real feelings for her, he was just doing his job (i do think he enjoyed the kiss though, because who wouldn't)

We're super excited to announce The Tortured Poets Fest, a Harry Potter themed fest centered around Taylor Swift's newest album! ✨

Calling all writers, artists, and video editors! Below are important dates, rules, and information you'll need to know if you'd like to join in with us. This fest is focused on The Tortured Poets Department — Taylor Swift's newest full-length album released on April 19, 2024.

This fest is open to ALL Harry Potter generations including Marauders, Golden Era, and Next Gen. All pairings are welcome!

We've also created a little community of participants on Discord to help with round tabling and creativity. We'd love if you joined us! This is an 18+ only fest.

You must complete the Google Form for your sign-up as well as claim your choice of prompt on the AO3 collection.

You may only claim one prompt at a time. If you finish your prompt, you may claim an additional prompt, but you must submit your first prompt as per submission guidelines.

One song prompt can be claimed by multiple people (it's not first come, first serve). You can use a song in any way you like for inspiration — title, lyrics, vibes… You do not need to title your work after the song or use lyrics in any way if you don’t want to.

Collaborations are welcome! Collabs can be illustrated fics, multi-writer fics, multi-artist artworks, etc.

✨ Creating

All ships from all generations are welcome (Marauders, Golden Era, and Next Gen). This is not a ship-specific or generation-specific fest.

There is a minimum word count of 1,000 words for all submitted fics. For podfics, the recorded story should be a minimum of 1,000 words. There is no maximum for either fics or podfics.

Multi-chapter fics are allowed, but you must finish the first chapter of the fic by the submission deadline.

All works must be tagged appropriately! In light of the mental health topics alive and real in this album, please consider yourself, your fellow participants, and your readers when discussing any themes on mental health in your works.

CURRENTLY: Round Five and the Second Chance Brackets!

the oc tournament is back again this year, and will be hosted by @starflungwaddledee and @moonverc3x!

this is a fun and friendly popularity contest for kirby-verse original character designs and their associated stories or lore. competitors can submit their characters to the competition during the submission period, after which characters will be matched randomly together in public polls for voting!

there will also be a second-chance bracket, to allow folks voted out early to continue playing and participating in the contest. polls are open for anyone, competitors and spectators alike!

in between each match-up, competitors can create artwork "propaganda" for their characters which will be shared to the blog! getting your character in front of voters will help people to recognise and care about them, and can increase your chances of getting votes-- as well as new fans-- for your OC!

Submissions are CLOSED as at midnight of April 30th. to submit your oc (only one oc allowed per participant!!), simply make a post on your own blog introducing your character with art and/or any lore you'd like to include! make sure to tag the @kirbyoctournament in your post (please do not submit via the ask box.) despite being an oc centric event, you can include canon characters in your OC backstory and propaganda. here is a template for submissions, but this is just a guide and you can deviate from it as necessary! if you want to write a lot of text, consider putting it under a 'read more'! Vintage 'Urban Lapel Jacket'

Taylor was spotted out to dinner this week in a look that, to my eye, wouldn’t be out of place in a top box at Arrowhead Stadium. Though off-duty from her football spectator activities, this outfit has all the hallmarks of Taylor’s sporty aesthetic uniform she leaned on and we became familiar with when cheering at Travis’ games during the 2023-24 NFL season. The ‘fit comprises a Chiefs-appropriate red/white varsity-style jacket on a black base (inclusive of a short denim hemline) and finished off with heeled ankle boots (and I spy a cute Gucci bag - the red strap detail ties in nicely to the jacket).

While I have my mind fixated on TTPD visuals and the aesthetic of this era, a look like this feels like a subconscious signal boost to the public of her present reality. It bears remembering that Tortured Poets is an album a minimum of 18 months in the making - based on Taylor’s admission that conceptualizing for it began almost immediately after she submitted October 2022’s Midnights to her label. I think about that key fifth stage in the process of grief, Acceptance, and how different Taylor’s life must look like now on the other side of the lifeline I’m sure Tortured Poets presented for her creatively and emotionally. And this outfit feels like the very embodiment of those significant life changes and leaps into love she’s made since April 2023. 

On a fashionable note regarding the brand: I’ve seen a few questionable retailers with this jacket’s stock info as part of its inventory offerings and all appear questionable to me - hence my choice to mark this piece as ‘vintage’ at least for now until I’m better able to certify the brand in question. Funnily enough, the last time that Taylor made an appearance at this particular strip mall establishment (a charmingly non-descript celebrity favourite in a tucked away, unexpected venue) she was wearing an H&M top that also had retailed in dubious seller markets that I won’t name here but you’re familiar with likely for their fast fashioned foibles).

KYOSHI ERA WEEK 2024:

PROMPT SUBMISSIONS

The Kyoshi Era Week 2024 will happen from July 14th to July 21st (a Sunday to Sunday week!) and we'd like to present writers and artists three prompts per day, so that everybody can work with something that resonates with them. That's 24 prompts total, so your contribution will be absolutely necessary! Please click here to submit prompts. We are very excited to see what you'll come up with!

Submissions will be open from March 1st to April 1st. In case we receive more than 24 prompts, we'll host some Tumblr Polls to decide which prompts will be included. These polls will happen from April 2nd to April 14th, so creators will have three months to prepare their contributions.

You'll be able to submit 8 prompts per submission and you can make however many submissions you want. Please remember that prompts have to inspire both writers and visual artists, so try not to be too particular. Please keep each prompt under ten words and share any intertextual context we and the creators should know about (e.g. if your prompt is a quote or a song title).

ToApril is once again upon us! Can you believe this is the third year this is taking place?

At this point we will assume everybody gets the concept of ToApril, but if you don’t, don’t hesitate to reach out! 

Before we jump right into it, we want to emphasize the rules of toapril:

Please keep it TOA related. You can use characters from other series or your own, but the prompts were made with the characters of TOA in mind.

No NSFW. There are adults and minors alike participating and definitely browsing the internet within the fandom. Mature topics can be brought up, but anything graphic is not allowed.

Note: None of the prompts are ship based, but you are definitely allowed to include  ships!

If you write a fic on ao3, please put it in the toapril 2024 collection. If you’re not sure how to do that, here are some instructions:

Option1: Go to the collection. There should be a button at the top right saying ‘post to collection’. Click that button and the rest should be as it would normally be when you post a fic.

Option 2: Post a new fic as usual, but in the associations section, type in toapril in the post to collections / challenges space and it should pop up. Make sure you add it in the 2024 one. It will stay open for a couple of weeks after April just in case you need more time to finish something.

SPECIAL NOTE: Obviously there are a number of ways to interpret this theme, especially along isekai lines, and we’re happy to see all of them. However, for this issue, we’d especially like to encourage submissions that are “entangled” with other SSBB stories and art. One way to do this is to come back to older pieces — rewriting a story from a different character’s point of view, writing a story based on a standalone illustration, or creating a radically different version of a story or illustration that already exists in our archives. Another way is to team up with other creators for this issue on completely new pieces and either collaborate on a single submission or create two (or more!) submissions that work as counterparts to one another.

As always, stories have to stand alone and should not necessitate someone’s having read something else before — which should also mean that stories submitted together should be able to be read in any order and must be complete stories with a self-contained beginning, middle, and end.

Note that this is not about continuing someone else’s story, much less just plain rewriting it. While you are welcome to use someone else’s work as a starting point, your finished product should be substantially different. Works inspired by pieces in earlier issues will have linked credit to their inspiration(s).

SINFUL SUNDAY UPDATE AS OF 3/12/23

Firstly, on the Sundays of December 24th and 31st, I won't be posting anything for Sinful Sunday. Given that it's the Christmas season and I'll be with my family, I've decided that the last Sinful Sunday of the year 2023 will be on Sunday, the 17th.

Due to the high volume of requests every Sunday, it's become physically challenging to complete all of them in a single day. To address this, I'm implementing a new rule – I'll be posting approximately 5 pieces for every Sinful Sunday. Any requests remaining in my inbox will be automatically scheduled for the following weekend.

I'll be adjusting the priority for Sinful Sunday requests, giving top priority to those that come in off-anon. While anonymous questions are still welcomed, I'll be initially focusing on non-anonymous requests.

I'm aware many of you enjoy the Hantengu Clones, but I kindly request not to ask for similar scenarios with different clones once a scenario has already been published with one of them.

I'm open to delving into darker content, so feel free to share your more intense thoughts/thirsts with me without hesitation! 🔥

ok i'm all for starting early in fact i'm drawing for artfight right now but.. we should not be asking for early art to be made "legal" 😭 like.. okay so say that the mods are like "well fine you can make attacks starting two weeks early" obviously theres gonna be people making attacks early at the start of june. "ok fine you can make attacks throughout june" but what about may? some people might really want a head start "fine fine you can start working in may but NO EARLIER!!1!" and of course, what about the people starting in april?

i think it's highly unlikely that you'll see people starting as early as april, but my point is, there's always going to be people who are starting earlier than the given range. at some point, if the range of time when you can make attacks is so wide, why even have a limited range in the first place? just make attacks all year at that point.

and i really feel like that defeats the point of having an event in july. sure, there are still gonna be people drawing in july, but a lot of it is just going to be "okay how many attackd can i submit in the span of 2 hours from my premade collection of 1000 pieces".

like i said, i start early, and i don't think it ruins the "spirit of artfight" or whatever if you just draw like 2 weeks in advance, but if you get to a point where there's no like, constricted timeframe, what even is the point of artfight- the annual, one month long event where you draw for people 24/7 throughout july and suffer horrible hand cramps?

2024 CodyWan AU Fest

Do you have a deep abiding love of Age of Sail? Would you throw down for a Tatooine Husbands AU? Do you know everything there is to know about some niche historical period? Mythology? A favorite MMORPG? Do you daydream (on the regular) how Cody and Obi-Wan would act if you threw them into the world of your favorite other fandom? Or even your favorite Starbucks?

Announcing the Codywan AU Fest!

We are a laid-back event with no minimum requirements for any fan work created for the Fest. So long as Cody and Obi-Wan are the main focus of your AU-created fan work, anything goes!

Everyone will be able to submit their favorite AU prompt or image prompt. Once all prompts have been submitted, you get to vote and tell us what your favorites are! Once finalized, content creators will have 8 weeks to work on their creation(s), so you can do as many, or as few, as you want.

Prompt Submissions open on January 14, and will be open for 2 weeks (this Sunday!!)

I was inspired by a post that I saw here that I was tragically unable to reblog because it suddenly disappeared from my dash on mobile when it decided to do a refresh to create this event. Essentially what the Fic Read & Comment Exchange is is a way to share fics that you love with others and encourage everyone to comment on fics. This is going to be shared here on tumblr AND on r/fanfiction. This is open to any and all fandoms.

Here's how it'll work:

You'll fill out the two forms, the reader preference form and the fic submission form. You cannot participate unless you fill out both forms. So I can make sure that you've filled out both forms, please be sure to use the same contact info on both forms.

I'll continue to accept submissions for the exchange until April 30, 2024.

After April 30, 2024, I will go through all of the submissions and pair everyone who's participating with TWO fics. You'll receive your two fics via the contact point you specified (here on tumblr, via email or through your reddit). These should go out some time during the first week of May. If you filled out the forms and don't receive a contact by May 12, 2024, please feel free to DM me and let me know!

Once you've received your "reading list" you'll need to go off and read the fics you got. For each fic, make sure to leave at least ONE comment on the fic. The comment should ideally be thoughtful, at least 2-3 sentences in length and address something specific about the fic (ie: lines, character interpretations, plot, worldbuilding, mood/tone, etc.). This is not an invitation for concrit. This is about the positive power of comments.

The Rules:

Do NOT submit ANY AI generated fic. AI generation of fanfiction stands in complete opposite of what fandom and fic writing culture is and should be, and generative AI tools are built using stolen creative works, and uncompensated labor of creatives. I will ban you from this exchange if I see you do this.

Please only submit fics that are hosted on either ff dot net or AO3. Do not submit fics on wattpad or other sites.

You MUST fill out BOTH forms to participate.

You will submit FOUR fics. Three of them MUST be fics written by someone who is NOT you. You are allowed to submit ONE fic that you wrote -- but be sure to indicate if a fic was written by you in your form. Try to submit less popular, less interacted or less well known fics, so we can share the love far and wide.

Please fill out both forms by April 30, 2024. Any submissions after 4/30/24 will not be counted.

This is not an invitation for you to provide concrit or to harass anyone. Do NOT provide concrit in your comments.

If you are submitting one of your own fics, please look over your fic before submitting it to make sure that your fic is properly spaced, uses paragraphs, and (if on AO3) uses the AO3 delimiter objects rather than a line of characters to delimit section breaks. These things ensure maximum accessibility and readability of your fic.

Have fun! Commenting on fic is fun, positive and helps build community. It supports the fic gift economy and fights against the "content creator" and "consumer" roles.

To commemorate The Rise of Kyoshi’s 5th anniversary on July 16th, the Kyoshi Era Week 2024 will happen from July 14th to July 21st! That’s a Sunday to Sunday week and we'd like to present writers and artists three prompts per day, so we’ll need 24 prompts total.

Thanks to everybody who contributed, we’ve collected more than a hundred amazing prompts! We’re so excited about each and every prompt, but we’ll have to choose only 24. So, we’d like you to vote on the prompts you like the most! From today to April 14th, we’ll hold 12 polls with 9 options each and the two most voted options in each poll will be added to the event.

Can’t spot the prompt you submitted? Here’s what might have happened:

Some prompts were very similar to each other. For example: "paint", "face paint", "painting", "picture", and "makeup" all became "paint".

Some prompts were too specific. For example: "a familial moment between Kyoshi and Kelsang" became "found family" and "parental figures", and "possessive Rangi" became "possessiveness".

Some prompts were too general. For example: "modern au" and "smut" were cut.
