The Truth about the Jeffrey Epstein John Does: What the media and "influencers" are getting wrong.
TECHNO FOG substack DEC 19, 2023
There is a certain level of difficulty in reporting on the Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell saga, much of it having to do with what the authorities haven’t revealed: the web of Epstein’s network (much of it still secret), the ties to intelligence (of which documentary evidence is still hidden from public view), the internal deliberations that went on at Main Justice in Washington, D.C. when Epstein got his sweetheart plea deal (again, not yet publicized).
Add to that the false media reports and blatantly inaccurate social media posts that spring up every time there’s any small development in any Epstein or Maxwell case.
Like today, for example.
The Daily Mail led the way, reporting that a federal judge “has ruled to unseal documents that would name 177 Does who are Epstein's friends, recruiters and victims within the coming weeks.” This was followed by a flurry of social media takes – especially on Twitter – promising there will be serious revelations from these records or claims that “177 Jeffrey Epstein high profile associates will be revealed in the new year.”
There’s a problem with that sensationalism: it’s inaccurate.
To explain what’s really going on, allow us to provide some context. Back in February of 2023, the Federal District Court Judge overseeing Virginia Giuffre v. Ghislaine Maxwell (the civil case brought against Maxwell by one of her victims) considered whether to publicly disclose the names of certain “John Does” that came up during the course of that litigation. The attorneys for Giuffre and Maxwell put together a list of 167 John Does and provided descriptive references for each, which would allow the Judge to determine which John Does should be unsealed and which ones should remain sealed.
At that time, we reviewed the list of John Does and assigned them various categories, including whether they were employees of Epstein, witnesses, or perpetrators; and whether their names were already known to the public. We were able to identify the most important alleged perpetrators and discussed the still-redacted facts surrounding their involvement with Epstein.
We also made clear that the majority of the John Does (approximately 100) had already been identified, whether through the media or court proceedings. Some had been interviewed by the media; their stories were already well known. We observed that many of the John Does were identified as not being involved in the more serious allegations against Epstein or Maxwell and that there were no “salacious” allegations against these individuals, some of whom were doctors or acquaintances of the victims. In some instances, the John Does were actual potential victims of Epstein or Maxwell.
And now for today’s developments.
The Judge has ordered the unsealing of names and materials relating to some – but not all – of the 167 John Does (not 177 as has been reported) identified in the list submitted to the Court. View the full order here.
As we clarified last February, the John Does who will be unsealed aren’t “Epstein’s List.” Their names were referenced in any number of ways during the civil case, whether through depositions, medical records (the names of doctors), or in witness lists exchanged between the parties. (To that we add a note of caution: witness lists can be very broad and not all witnesses are material or have even basic information.)
And again, many of the John Does were not alleged by the parties to have committed any wrongdoing. For example, John Doe 14 is referenced in one sealed court filing related to an effort by Maxwell to oppose answering deposition questions under seal. The “sealed material as to [John Doe 14] is not salacious.” He isn’t, as others have promised, a key figure in the Epstein/Maxwell crimes.
And that’s true for many of the other John Does. We’ve analyzed the prior John Doe lists and compared it to today’s order. Here’s the summary of our findings:
There are approximately 100 John Does who were previously identified. Some had been interviewed by the media. The names of others (including victims) had been discussed in Maxwell’s criminal trial. This includes victims and perpetrators.
Approximately 67 remain unidentified.
For 33 of the unknown John Does: the sealed material relating to them “is not salacious” or their name was in a search term or they were mentioned in a deposition. In the case of John Doe 88, “the only reference [of John Doe 88] is a deposition question in answer to which the deponent denied knowledge of the individual.”
Six of the unidentified John Does are victims whose names will not be released.
Six of the unidentified John Does were identified as either victim affiliates or alleged witnesses with connections to the victims. Their names and materials concerning them will be released.
The names, and materials relating to, a number of Epstein affiliates or former Epstein employees will be released. Records indicate - but do not guarantee - that the majority of these do not include salacious information.
The name and materials concerning John Doe 29 – a former Epstein employee – will be unsealed. The Judge described them as “a staff member possibly present at a time and place.” This might be an Epstein employee who was theorized by a witness to perhaps be present in a home when a victim was abused.
There are, however, John Does who may be significant. But that is a small number compared to the 167 John Does subject to the Judge’s order. We’ve summarized them below.
John Doe 58: An alleged witness, Epstein/Maxwell affiliate, and perpetrator. According to the Judge, “Doe 58's name and any identifying information shall remain sealed. Doe is a classic outsider, peripheral to the events at issue. Doe 58 is neither a victim nor associated with Epstein or Maxwell.”
As we previously noted about John Doe 58:
John Doe 86: An alleged Epstein affiliate. Counsel for Maxwell previously informed the Court that “Some material related to this individual is salacious.”  Materials relating to John Doe 86 will be “unsealed in full.”
John Doe 94: Previously identified as “alleged victim affiliate; alleged perpetrator” who “is alleged to have engaged in serious wrongdoing.” Materials relating to John Doe 94 will be “unsealed in full.”
John Doe 108: Previously identified as an “alleged witness.” These materials may potentially be salacious.
John Doe 113: Previously identified as “alleged Epstein affiliate; alleged witness” who “is alleged to have engaged in serious wrongdoing.” The Judge ruled these materials should be unsealed in full, and stated the references to John Doe 113 “are all included in Rule 26 disclosures, search terms, and a hearsay statement that the name appears in Epstein’s address book.”
John Doe 114: Previously identified as an “alleged Epstein affiliate.” Their name is on an Epstein flight log. These materials will be unsealed.
And there you have it. I hate to break the disappointing news, but we’re here to report the truth. The unsealing of these records and the publication of these names won’t be what we’ve been promised.
This doesn’t mean that important information won’t be disclosed, or that new and noteworthy discoveries may not be unearthed about known and unknown perpetrators. We believe that still may be the case.
And we’ll provide the source documents when they’re released – which, depending on appeals, may be as soon as January 2, 2024.

Analyzing Invention: Some Data for the Inventor's Fair 2023
As a way of introduction, the Inventor's Fair is a Magic: the Gathering card design contest blog here on Tumblr. Each week, a contest is announced and members of the community submit designs throughout the week meeting the design specifications. At the end of the week, a few winners and runner-ups are selected, with commentary given by a series of judges. It's a fun exercise in creativity, one that I have participated since November 2022.
This past week, I decided to go back and compile some data about the blog, from January 1st, 2023 to Dec 2nd, 2023. I got some general data and then did a dive into data on the winners and runners-up. I would have loved to look at data for all of the entrants (on average, 23 each contest), but that was just a little too much for the time I have.
If this all sounds interesting to you, continue reading past the line.
Tumblr media
To start, let's look at that general data:
Tumblr media
Image: Line graph showing the weekly totals for entrants and a rolling 3-week average.
To start off, there have been 48 contests thus far during the year, with 4 more potentially planned (yes, Dec 31st would be the posting date for one of the contests, so it is technically a 2023 contest).
In the above graph, I included a 3-week rolling average as a trendline: basically the average shown for a week is the average of that week with the two weeks preceding).
The highest participation happened from February to mid-May, which corresponds to the Spring Semester in the US school system (my area of experience).
The contest with the greatest number of entrants: Teamwork Makes the Dream Work, which started on April 16 and had 36 entrants.
The contest with the lowest number of entrants: Re:Vision, which was the most recent contest and had only 8 entrants.
Now let's dive into some of the stats around the winners and runners-up:
Tumblr media
Image: Bar graph showing the entry counts for winners and runners-up.
There have been 50 unique entrants who have been either a winner or a runner-up so far this year. Many entrants have been part of the contests since the beginning of the year. The most recent entrant to have their first win/runner-up was @aethernalstars, in the Nov 12th contest Lost Caverns of Ixalan's Lost Vault.
The entrants with the highest numbers of wins/runners-up so far:
@spooky-bard: 22 total, with 16 wins
@izzet-always-r-versus-u: 16 total, with 10 wins
@nine-effing-hells: 15 total, with 7 wins
@hypexion: 14 total, with 5 wins
(tie) @deg99 and @bread-into-toast: 13 total, with 8 and 7 wins
Congrats to these entrants for some spectacular submissions!
So what makes a winning entry? Mostly the awesome creativity of the entrants, but here are some stats about the cards themselves that I found interesting.
Tumblr media
Image: Bar graph showing the card types of cards that were submitted and were selected as a winner or runner-up
By far the most popular card type was creature (and this includes Artifact Creature and Enchantment Creature submissions). Granted, there were several contests asking for creatures, like Rebels and Dragons. But it is such an overwhelming favorite that I just had to call it out.
As a note on other, I lumped things like planes and phenomenon into a single group, just to keep things simple (since there weren't that many)
Tumblr media
Image: Pie (donut) chart showing the colors that were part of the color identity of cards submitted and selected as a winner or runner-up
Here, there has not been any contests for making cards in a specific color. However, red is a clear favorite among entrants. This is a mix of mono-red and multi-color including red cards. Black, white and blue are all closely tied for the 2nd most popular card, with green being fifth amongst the colors. I included colorless, but that being a low count is to be expected as I looked at color identity instead of cost, so many land submissions were pulled into one of the color categories.
Tumblr media
Image: Table of the mana value of cards submitted submitted and selected as a winner or runner-up
Here, we see that the most common mana value of cards was 3 - 84 cards total! 4 (with 60) and 2 (with 41) came in 2nd and 3rd.
Tumblr media
Image: Pie (donut) chart showing the rarities of cards submitted and selected as a winner or runner-up
Entrants seem to really like submitting Rares (114 total) and Uncommons (92 total), as they made up almost 75% of all entries. The number for commons will get a small bump from a recent contest that is currently being judged: One for the Money, but nowhere near enough to dethrone the other two.
SO, if you were to submit a card, it seems like the best chance for a winning submission is a red/partially red creature that is rare/uncommon and has a mana value of 3/4. Looks like a Santa Clause card is up for the next few weeks ;)
Anyways, I hope you've enjoyed this nerdy dive into some of the data behind the @inventors-fair of 2023. Looking forward to what y'all come up with in the next few weeks!

The Villainous Timeline (Part 1): Flug & Miss Heed
Made this theory to calculate, breakdown and understand the Villainous Timeline. (I will be making 2 or 3 parts as ran out of space for photos.😅)
Part 2: Demencia and 5.0.5.
Part 3: SunBlast and Miss Heed
Alan mentioned on Instagram that:
"The Villainous timeline so far followed real life (as shown on Miss Heed and Penumbra's Instagram) but when the show airs, it’ll slow down and follow its own timeline as they wait for more episodes to release, but it’ll be similar to ours. As we know, all actual real events happened in Villainous and BH even had some influence over them, so I’m sure they’ll still follow ours but at a different pace."
So 3 points to note:
The Villainous Timeline Follows our Time line but at a different pace.
The timeline slows down when the show airs.
BH has some influence over real events happening.
This is confirmed here as when the show airs in 2021, in Episode 4, the date here (in red) is shown as 14 Jul 2021.
Tumblr media
So Given the Ages and Timeline:
Flug is 26 yrs old in Aug 2019
So in Aug 2022 Flug is 29 yrs old. (until Aug 2023, when he becomes 30 yrs old)
Flug's Journal and Demecia's Diary came out on 21st Feb 2022
Flug said in his book “I have been working as the chief scientist of the Black Hat Organization for approximately 8-10 years.” [Google Translate]
Tumblr media
Flug's P.E.A.C.E. files mentioned he has been working in Black Hat Organization since March 10, 2011.
Tumblr media
21st Feb 2022 - 10 Mar 2011 = 10 years 11 months, 11 days.
So, Flug has been working in BlackHat Org years for 10 years (11 months, 11 days) - (Note: round up to 11 yrs for easier calculation)
29 yrs old - 11 years = 18 yrs old.
Based on the year in the photo of Flug’s Thesis in Episode 6, we can conclude that Flug's thesis started out and was finished on the Year 2005. If it was longer there would be a time range. (e.g. 2005 - 2006)
Tumblr media
2022 - 2005 = 17 years
29 yrs - 17 years = 12 yrs old
If they follow Mexico School System, Black Hat Institution should either start in early July or late Aug.
So Flug started going to school either in Jul/Aug 2005
So Flug was 12 years old when he met Miss Heed and started going to Black Hat Institution. (So they started at middle school age)
This was probably the class photo taken on the 1st day of school.
Tumblr media
It's shown he was celebrating Halloween so this picture should take place on the 31st Oct, so they've known each other around 2-3 months at this time.
Tumblr media
According to this article, It takes around 2-6 months to write a thesis
So maybe Flug has to submit his thesis at the end of the year in Dec 2005 before Christmas, as there were no Christmas decorations (I think even if BlackHat hates Christmas, the Villains would probably celebrate Christmas in their own evil way)
So Miss Heed probably stole Flug's thesis in Nov-Dec 2005 and left to become a hero at the age of 12 yrs old.
So, Flug and Miss Heed knew each other for about 4-5 months.
According to Miss Heed's P.E.A.C.E. Files, she was 17 yrs old while the experiments were being conducted.
17 yrs old - 12 yrs old = 5 years.
So does that mean that Miss Heed was experimented on at P.E.A.C.E. when she was 12 years old, for 5 years before she got her powers at the age of 17 yrs old? (Unless something happened between the 5 yr gap.)
Also, According to her P.E.A.C.E. Files, she needed to train her powers, which might take a few months or immediately.
So this picture with Flug staring at the TV looking at Miss Heed, might be when he is 17 - 18 yrs old before he joined Black Hat Organization.
Tumblr media
Conclusion:
-> Flug has been working in BHO for 10 yrs 11 months, 11 days, since he was 18 yrs old.
-> Flug and Miss Heed were 12 yrs old when they met each other for about 4-5 months.
-> Afterwards, in the same year Miss Heed left to become a hero and might have been experimented on for 5 years before she developed her powers at the age of 17 years old.

Walkerverse Midseason Hiatus Creations
Okay!
Thanks to your responses to my poll/post about fan events, I know y'all are looking for more Walker themed fandom events. It's been some time since we had one so I wanted to get one started. I was thinking we could kick things off with a small Midseason Hiatus creations event! I've never run one of these before (and we're low on time) so I wanted to keep it small.
Each week will have a different prompt. Prompts can be filled with either Walker or Walker: Independence (or both!) Prompts can be filled with gifs, videos, edits, icons, fanart, fan fiction, meta, anything that the prompt inspires you to do! Anyone can participate and participants can submit as many works as they want for each week.
Here's a tentative schedule I have (open to suggestions ofc!)
Week 1 (Dec 8- 14) - Favorite Character dynamic
Week 2 (Dec 15-21) - Favorite Ship
Week 3 (Dec 22-28) - Favorite Episode
Week 4 (Dec 29- Jan 4)- Favorite location
Week 5 (Jan 5- 11)- Season b promo
Given the limited time, I'm not going to be creating a separate blog to host all the creations but I will reblog them here and they will be tagged for the event. I'm considering making a discord server for this event so that finding creations will be easier but we'll see what happens
The rules are pretty simple:
Creations must be yours
Tag your creations with #walkerversehiatuscreations
You can participate every week or any week you want
You can post as many creations as you want for the week
AND MOST IMPORTANT RULE : HAVE FUN !!!
tagging a few people to get the word out:
@aborddelimpala, @laf-outloud, @walker-290, @walkerdaily, @jaredwalkertexasranger, @sammysnaughtygirl, @sam-winchester-admiration-league

FAQ and rules below the cut:
FAQ:
1. Can works created for Waxer*Boil Month include other characters or ships?
Of course! That said, the focus must be on Waxer and Boil's relationship, however you envision it. Any other characters featured should be in supporting roles only (see Rule #1 below for more information). The purpose of this event is not to encourage more works that simply include Waxer and Boil, but to encourage more works that focus on their story, specifically, above all others.
For example, if you were to post the work on AO3, the tags ‘Clone Trooper Boil/Clone Trooper Waxer’ and/or ‘Clone Trooper Boil & Clone Trooper Waxer’ would be the first and primary relationship tag(s) in the work.
2. What kinds of fan works are welcome for this event?
All kinds of fan works are welcome, including, but not limited to, fan fiction, digital and traditional art, gifs, podfics—anything you'd like to create!
3. What platforms/websites can I use?
Waxer*Boil Month will include an AO3 collection to which you can submit works, the waxerboilmonth Tumblr account, and a Discord server. If you are sharing a work on Tumblr, please tag @waxerboilmonth so that I can reblog it. If you don't have a Tumblr account or don't want to share a work directly to Tumblr, you can send an ask or DM waxerboilmonth with a link to the work on AO3 or other sites (such as Instagram, Twitter, etc.), and I will share it on the event Tumblr.
4. Do I have to make something for each week in order to participate?
No. Participants are welcome to create as many fan works as they like for the month. If you just want to create one work, that's great!
5. How many sets of prompts will the month have?
Four—one for each full week of March, 2024. The list of prompts for 2024 will be posted on Tumblr after Dec 22, 2023.
6. How many prompts will there be per week?
Each week will have 4 text prompts and 2 image prompts that participants can choose from to create any kind of fan work. In addition, there will be 3 NSFW prompts per week, though again, contributors may create any kind of work from any prompt. The list of prompts for 2024 will be posted on Tumblr after Dec 22, 2023.
7. What's the difference between the text prompts and image prompts?
Aside from how they are submitted, there's no difference between the two types of prompts. Text prompts could be anything from tropes to AUs to short song lyrics. Image prompts can be anything from an aesthetic image (cyberpunk, cottagecore, etc.) to something that is more suggestive of a plot or other theme (a person going running with their dog, a birthday party, etc.). Feel free to use any of these prompts as inspiration for any kind of fan work.
8. Are there rules regarding whitewashing?
This event does not condone whitewashing of any characters, but there are no specific rules that participants must follow. Descriptions or visual representations of the clones, for example, do not need to check any arbitrary boxes of 'correctness.' Nor must they exactly resemble the models in The Clone Wars or any people who have played the clones in live action roles—art is hard and demanding anything like photo-realism is exclusionary. However, please keep in mind the frequent whitewashing of characters in popular media and create your contributions to Waxer*Boil Month in good faith.
9. Are NSFW/E-rated works allowed?
Yes, fan works of all ratings are welcome (please see the rules below for exceptions). However, they must be properly tagged on AO3 and labeled with the appropriate Major Archive Warnings. On Tumblr, contributions must also be properly tagged and have appropriate community labels applied. You are free to post your works on other platforms as well, but please follow those platforms' community guidelines and tagging policies.
10. Do you accept late contributions?
Yes, the event will accept late contributions through April 21, 2024.
RULES:
1. This rule is being added in April, 2023, due to some confusion with contributions for the first Waxer*Boil Month in March, 2023. To elaborate on and reiterate item #1 in the FAQ, the focus of the work MUST be on Waxer and Boil’s relationship. This means that:
Waxer and Boil must both be included in the work in some way (for example: though flashbacks, talking via holocalls, etc.)
The main story or theme cannot revolve around other characters, relationships, or plot elements unrelated to Waxer and Boil’s relationship.
If the work consists of multiple chapters in which each one is a drabble or ficlet, all of the chapters must be focused on Waxer and Boil’s relationship.
Works that do not meet these criteria will not be accepted in future Waxer*Boil Month events.
If you are unsure about an idea, feel free to DM or send an ask to the waxerboilmonth Tumblr account. As an example, here is a work that may not, at first glance, seem to meet the criteria above, but the caption underneath the image ties the work together and makes it clear that Waxer and Boil's relationship is the focal point.
2. I’m the only mod and need to at least skim all works to make sure they fit the event criteria, so while I place no moral judgements on works of fiction, I ask that participants not contribute works that feature:
explicit sexual content, non-con, or graphic violence involving characters under the (species equivalent) age of 16—that's 8 for clones.
animal cruelty
3. Please do not add any DNIs (Do Not Interact) to any of your contributions to this event.
4. The AO3 collection is open but moderated, so you may join it and contribute works at any time. However, the works will not be approved until the appropriate week. For that reason, ✨please include the week number and whatever prompt(s) the work is filling in the tags, summary, or author’s notes.✨ 5. Have fun! Support each other!

Hello, everyone!
Before you sign up, please remember that this fest deals with mature subjects and the participants are responsible for curating their own experiences within the fest. This applies to viewing the prompts list, which is uncensored.
Here’s a little F.A.Q. to help our claiming process!
First of all: CLAIMING is a first come, first serve process.
Also very important: THIS IS AN ANONYMOUSLY POSTING FEST, so we ask you not to divulge the prompt you are claiming. You’ll be able to talk about the prompt you’ve claimed within our creators-only Discord server once you join it.
To claim a prompt, you must fill out this Google Form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSelNoGZRGT8F8KIdZqawvmr41D8N80EZVj2f_krR2AJv8S-ug/viewform
The information we ask is:
Your name or alias & pronouns;
An e-mail account for contact (we will send a confirmation that we have received your claiming through this address);
Your Discord ID, so we can have another way of contacting you during the fest. This isn’t mandatory, but appreciated. When you sign up, you also receive a link to our fest’s Discord server (restricted to creators), where you can discuss your art piece/fic, look for a beta reader, or just share your creating process.
Your AO3 account (you must use an AO3 account to enter the fest because the works will all be posted to a collection on the site. If you do not have an AO3 account yet, let us know on the “anything else” section of the form);
The number of the prompt you are claiming;
What pairing do you intend to use on your prompt (if any);
Anything else you might want to add.
You will be able to claim ONE prompt during the Claiming period (30 Nov - 14 Dec).
We will not list the claimers name on the prompt list.
Prompts list can be found here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1GGwhjs_hbWLbqmEGvzYls_LgkyM49PWf_5pa3nCQNA8/edit
After claiming time is closed, if you have both finished your creative work and submitted it properly, you will be able to claim another prompt.
The mods have varying schedules, so please be patient with hearing back from us.  If you haven’t heard from us within 48 hours, assume something went wrong and contact a mod.
If you have additional questions, please message us here on Tumblr, or email it to [email protected]

Rutgers has become the latest university to suspend its Students for Justice in Palestine chapter. “You allegedly have had multiple cases of disrupting classes, a program, meals, and students studying,” associate Dean of Students Michelle Jefferson told the group in a letter. She also says [there] was alleged vandalism at the business school. In a statement, Rutgers SJP accused the school of implementing a double standard against the group, citing anti-Palestinian sentiment on campus. “While the Rutgers Administration suspended our SJP over nebulous and unsubstantiated complaints, they have yet to conduct an investigation regarding Rutgers Chabad’s threatening post with an SJP protest in the background that labels us, students that attend Rutgers, as ‘children of darkness,’ captioned with the words ‘STRAPPED. ARMED. LOCKED AND LOADED’,” the organization explained. “This is one of many examples that lacks adequate response to incidents that have made Palestinian students feel unsafe and threatened. Meanwhile, mere accusations against our free speech rights have led to arbitrary suspension. “Rutgers University has also failed to support the Palestinian and Muslim-presenting students on campus that have submitted bias reports of the constant harassments and attacks they have faced since October 7th,” they continued. “This includes the Palestinian student who submitted a report against a Professor who cornered and began to record them in response to a coordinated walk out protesting an event – which the Palestinian student took no part in. The Professor subsequently accused SJP of disrupting the event, though it played no role in the incident. For all we know, we could be suspended based partially on this false accusation.” Rutgers Academic Freedom Committee also put out a statement condemning the move, calling on the administration to reverse course. “The suspension of Students for Justice in Palestine arbitrarily silences the voices of many students and is redolent of the McCarthyism of the 20th century,” it reads. Less than a week before the announcement Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ) tried to shut down a panel on Palestine featuring Noura Erakat, Nick Estes, and Marc Lamont Hill. “While differing views are a critical part of building cultural understanding, they cannot provide a bully pulpit for those who seek to divide others and spew hate,” said the congressman in a statement. “The first amendment does not give students the right to bully, intimidate, and instill fear onto other students.”
-- From "The Shift: Rutgers suspends SJP chapter" by Michael Arria, 14 Dec 2023
SJP Rutgers' response is linked above and can also be read here. They have been sharing messages of solidarity from other on-campus organizations, such as Rutgers Together Not Alone and Rutgers Central Asian Student Organization, on their instagram.
