i keep coming across videos and posts of people calling comic characters dads shitty for being absent when the. the dads are dead. those are dead dads. they aren't absent by choice they literally died.in some cases thise deaths are the reason why the character even exists in the way they do.

Unless your using some alt universe Superman like ultra man or red son there’s no way suoerman would fight half the fights you nerds want him to with people like Goku or Spider-Man

Hell tbh I could see him just straight up agreeing to fight Goku in a spar off planet, if to only calm Goku down

Just read death of superman it was so underwhelming.

Like ok. The jla issue was a lot less cringe than I thought it would be. Jla is not the heavy hitters you're used to, there's no ww on the team, and the teams heavy hitter (maxima) is out most of the fight due to trying to get blue beetle to a hospital so he doesn't die, amd it definitely starts off as a case of 1v1, the jla doesn't have time to fight him as a full team . And supermans laser vision is not portrayed as any more effective than the jlaers ranged attacks.

So it's not like "superman can 1v1 something that took it the full justice league when they were prepared "

Anyway so that's the part that was better than I expected. We also saw lots of how superman tries to keep doomsday away from civilians which was good.

That said

The fight did not need to be 5 issues long. It was definitely a case of superman punches something. Superman is really determined to punch something. Things you see about how many people who don't read superman comics perceive superman comics to be. Despite that not being most of them.

The other characters are also very quick to assure the reader that doomsday is totally stronger than suoermans other threats despite him having plenty of big threats.

And also.

The actual layout of the issue where he dies was crap.

Mostly splash pages and like. The narration box informing us people would remember the Shockwaves but like.!!! Show us the Shockwaves! Show us storefront windows and glass shattering, Show us people covering their ears!

The effect of the entire issue being splash pages means the panel where superman actually died had the same weight as the ones where he and doomsday are just punching each other. I didn't realize he'd died until the narration box was like "people have lost a hero... a son..." amd then I had to flip back and be like. Oh. So that's where he died

We already esptabilshed my belief that both Suoerman and Batman are bottoms (more about Batman on another, most definetly 18+ post), but i am fully convinced that Clark Kent is a total housewife to Lois when he's not out as Supernan and you can't convince me otherwise.
