I might not ever get to see the Eras Tour live but I can get drunk as hell while rocking this at Dragon Con in August. So that’s not a bad consolation.
Got a taste of The Eras Tour at Wondercon this last weekend. Which is great, 'cause I'll never be able to afford tickets to the actual concert. Amazing cosplay!
So this took longer than expected, was planing on just listening to the episode and doing doodles like usual but then this came over me and here we are. Vaguely historical clothing is fun to draw, backrounds are not.
The deadline for my dissertation project, Affirmation/Transformation, has been extended! This project asks fans to get inspired by one of 14 pieces of fine art and create... ANYTHING! Write a story, write a song, design a cosplay, create a fancy manicure, make a meme, make a stop-motion video, choreograph a dance, make a SuperWhoLock gif fic, or anything else your heart can dream up. Fanworks are submitted digitally, so you don't have to actually send me anything, and all kinds of fanworks from all fandoms are welcome!!
You can find all the pieces and sign up for reminders HERE.
I'm not going to lie, I haven't gotten quite the response I was hoping for. I have enough submissions to put the show on, but not as many as I would like for my research. If you're interested in supporting my project, but you're not sure how, please reach out to me! I'd love to see as many different kinds of fanworks and as many different fandoms represented as possible.
Submissions will be accepted through the end of the exhibition (December 22, 2024) but, if they're made after August 1st, I can't promise they'll be in the exhibition on opening day. The exhibition will be available both in person at Marquette University's Haggerty Museum of Art. and online.
I was a pretty casual Taylor Swift fan for a long time. I could name a couple of albums and had a handful of songs I really liked. When I saw the Lover body suit from the Eras tour it completely rewired my brain. I knew I *needed* to wear it. It helps that I’m friends with some hardcore swifties (hi Riza & Ronnie) who helped me get realllly into the fandom.
I had some big life accomplishments in 2023 so my reward to myself was commissioning this. It was a blast to wear at Katsucon. And while there’s some padding going on here it was scary and exciting to wear a costume that shows off my body like this.
I met so many nice swifties at the convention. I handed out friendship bracelets which seemed to be a big hit. There were a couple rude comments (most notably from a boomer who was very confused about the cosplay convention). But overall it was a wildly affirming day. And I’m gonna treasure the memories of wearing this for the first time.
