rarepair bingo "they never meet in canon"

so as happened with the maze women last year, i ended up writing more than i planned on and therefore my teresa/beth fic that was going to be in both the "they never meet in canon" and "be the first to write a ship" spots for @mazerunner-rarepairs is not going to be finished until after may. however i refuse to not get bingo so i am going to post a snippet from the fic here with a promise that the entire fic will come some time in june, most likely.

context: this is a Station Eleven-type apocalypse where a massive pandemic killed most people.

“So, doctor, why aren’t you in a settlement?” Beth asks. She crosses her arms, and Teresa is reminded of how strong she looks. “You don’t see many solo travelers these days, unless they’ve been kicked out of somewhere.”

Teresa takes a breath, prepared to recite her usual speech.

“This is what I do. Most places I’ve been to don’t have many people with medical knowledge, so I travel around and help where I can. All I ask in return is a safe place to sleep for a few days and whatever food you can spare. I’ll patch up your wounded, do general checkups, whatever you need. It’s my way of making my survival matter.”

That gets Beth to raise an eyebrow, curious but not enough to drop her guard. 

“Elaborate on that,” she asks, though it sounds more like a command.

“On my survival mattering?” Beth nods. “Well, I kind of got lucky with where I was on the day it all fell, I was remote with a lot of food. I figured if I was given the chance to live when almost everyone else didn’t, I had to make it count for something. And what I’m best at is healing.”

“But why not just stay at one settlement and help them? Why risk it by traveling alone?”

“People need my help everywhere.”

Beth purses her lips, as if she can’t quite believe what she’s hearing. Her eyes squint with suspicion, and Teresa is suddenly nervous. It’s getting late. She’d have enough food thanks to that house if she had to double back now, but only just. 

If they let her leave alive at all.

“I don’t get it,” Beth states. A breeze picks up and moves the loose strands around her head, her face aflame. “There’s no self-preservation in this. There’s no community, either. Who exactly are you doing this for?”

Teresa falters. “For everyone. Everyone who’s left.”

Adam Jr.

Adam had wanted to kill the Champion’s child. He knew it’d weaken the man. Just like his own child’s death weakened himself. But… Watching the child in ratty clothes walk out of a decrepit building, (Billy’s apartment complex) he just couldn’t bring himself to do it.

So, he decided to steal the man’s child instead. He’d held the child captive for hours, yet the Champion never showed.

Billy: *bound to a chair*

Black Adam: *standing across from him* “Your father hasn’t come yet, boy.”

Billy: “Of course not.” *thinks Adam is talking about C.C. and also thinks he knows Billy is Marvel*

Black Adam: “You don’t seem surprised.”

Billy: *confused* “Why would I be?”

Adam didn’t know what to say to that. Did the Champion neglect his own child? Children were sacred, how could he do that? It was then he made the decision to awkwardly (forcibly) adopt the boy. He’d dragged him along for all the things a father normally does with their child. Such as hunting faeries, and going to the UN for Khandaq’s diplomatic relations, and even eating the iced cream favored by most people nowadays.

And if Billy was frowning the entire time because he didn’t wanna be around one of his worst enemies, Adam didn’t see.

This eventually caught the concern of the JL who were wondering why Marvel hadn’t done anything to stop this a little kid from hanging out with Black Adam. (It was because Billy couldn’t sneak away to transform in the first place) So, when he felt his comm start ringing in his pocket dimension he just decided to use the ultimate tactic: The Bathroom.

Billy: “I gotta go whizz, be back in a sec.” *walks off quickly*

Black Adam: “Wha— what do you mean by whizz?”

In the Bathroom…

Billy: *crawls out of a bathroom window and transforms before flying off*

He flew for about 15 minutes before he picked up the comm.

Marvel: “Y’ello.”

Batman: “Where are you?”

Marvel: “Huh?”

Batman: “Where. Are. You.”

Marvel: “Uh… over the ocean?”

Batman: “Why?”

Marvel: “I was… doing something?”

Billy didn’t exactly want to tell them he’d been kidnapped.

Batman: “…doing something?”

Marvel: “Yup.”

Batman: “We’re going to unpack that later. For now, have you heard of Adam’s newest sidekick?”

Marvel: “Pardon?”

Batman: “Yes, that’s what I thought. As of recently Black Adam has acquired a child through unknown means—”

Ah. Shoot.

Batman: “—and has been taking it with him wherever he goes. We believe that the child is either an heir or a sidekick.”

*silence*

Batman: “Captain?”

Marvel: “…Can you describe this child?”

Batman: “Black haired, brown eyed, normally seen in red.”

Marvel: “I see. I see.”

*more silence*

Batman: “Captain?”

Marvel: “Listen, there’s no need to worry. I just took care of that issue.”

Batman: “Excuse m—”

Marvel: “Yeah, the kid’s away from Adam. Trust me.”

Batman: “When did yo—”

Marvel: “Don’t even worry about it.”

Meanwhile…

Black Adam: “Billy?” *looking around*

Cleaning Lady: *sweeping*

Black Adam: “You. Have you seen a boy about yay high?” *puts his hand out at about Billy’s height*

Cleaning Lady: *shakes head*

Black Adam: “Dangnabit.” *stomps off*

Adam ended up looking for Billy for hours.

So I decided to mix my post where Marvel accidentaly convinces the public that he was raped and @wonderjanga's post about divorced Marvel and Black Adam having a custody battle

Also i'm gonna include trans Marvel because why not (also ✨drama✨)

A year prior to Marvels talk with the press, during a pride parade, he showed up with a trans flag on his cape, people went crazy over that

Then the talk happend, everyones hearts bleeded for their hero

And a few weeks later Adam came along, trying to take a Billy- most likely another child of Marvels- to Khandaq, away from him

People started to slowly connect the dots

Marvel being trans, being raped in which results in his children, Adam and Marvel being divorced

It all made sense now

Marvel and Adam used to be married (there are theories that Marvel was forced), Black Adam performed marital rape, THRICE, MINIMUM, Marvel was forced to keep, and give birth to babies he did not want and now Adam wants to take his kids away from him

My hc is that Billy is the only omega in his family.

All his siblings are alphas and Rosa and Victor are betas, so they overprotect him. Especially because they know how Billy's life in the foster care system as an orphan omega.

They know how, when he lived on the streets, he used to prefer the aroma patches over food or clothes.

But he seems happier now.

That doesn’t mean they will let any random alpha be near to him for much time.

One time, when he was 14 y/o, Voltage (Freddy) and Bolt (Darla) saw how Scarecrow (they still don’t know what he was doing on Fawcett) flirted with him as Captain Marvel.

If it wasn't for Batman, that poor stupid man would be dead now.

Black Adam (uncle Teth when he’s helping the kids on Fawcett or in a JL mission) is also overprotective. Hurut was also an omega, and that didn’t end well.

Custody Battle

You know those AUs when Black Adam finds out about Billy being a kid, so he wants to adopt him? Let’s explore a different aspect of that. People think Marvel and Adam are the dads of Mary Marvel, and a kid named Billy, who might potentially be Junior. People also think they’ve been going through a messy divorce.

Marvel: “How many times do I have to tell you? I- Uh Billy, won’t be going to Kahndaq with you!”

Black Adam: “If I throw in the girl, will you let me then?”

Marvel: “Who? Mary?”

Black Adam: “Yes, her. If I’m correct, she’s also a child.”

Marvel: “Wha? Still no! Throwing her in made the deal worse!”

People are thinking Marvel isn’t letting Adam see their kids. People are also wondering how the two had kids, how long they’ve been married, and why it took them so long to divorce. I mean, the two had been throwing each other into buildings long before Adam wanted custody of the kids.

Black Adam: “Being the Wizard’s Champion is too much for you, Batson.”

Marvel: “It is not.” *sassy man eye roll*

As a result of this conversation, the public now thinks two things, one, that Marvel is neglecting his kids due to his work as a hero, or as the Wizard’s Champion. Whatever that means. The thing is though, it isn’t completely surprising because this is gonna be connected this to the “Cap not Caring” post. (In that post, Mary and Billy threaten to kill each other, while Billy fights Freddy)

Marvel: “I don’t want that man around Mary.”

Reporter: “And Billy.”

Marvel: *confused* “What?”

Reporter: “And Billy. Mary and Billy.”

Marvel: “Oh, yeah, and Billy.”

Yeah, people did not like that, because how do you just forget your son exists? To be fair though, Billy’s son is himself. Can you blame him? Too bad that isn’t common knowledge. They’re also flaming him for his “preference” for Mary.

The second thing people think is that Marvel’s name is Batson? People do some digging and find out about C.C.. Billy is now officially his own dad. Now, at the prospect of a child getting potentially kidnapped, or at least having to undergo forced family bonding, some other heroes grew a little concerned.

Marvel: “Guys he’s not getting Billy. I don’t know why he thinks he’s getting Billy. He’s not. I don’t know why he would think he has a choice when the only times he’s been in Billy’s life were to literally ruin it.”

Superman: *extremely concerned* “What..?”

Marvel: “I know right?”

Batman: “Why does Adam now suddenly want Billy?”

Marvel: “Cause he found something out he shouldn’t have.”

Batman: “What did he find out?”

Superman: “Why was a grown man beefing with a child in the first place?!”

Marvel swiftly dodged all the questions by walking away as Clark called after him.

Bonus:

The two get taken to reality court tv.

Marvel: *when it’s his turn to speak* “Jury and judge, he killed his nephew.” *points to Adam*

Jury and Audience: *gasps*

Marvel: “Who’s to say he wouldn’t kill Billy?”

Black Adam: “I’m a changed man now.”

Judge: *glares at Adam for interrupting*

Marvel: “Last week, you slammed me so hard into the ground I ended up in the sewers.”

Black Adam: “That was before, this is now.”

Judge: *bangs gavel* “Mr. Adam! Mr. Marvel is speaking. Refrain from interrupting.”

Black Adam: “Who’re you to tell me that?”

Judge: “The damn judge.”

Audience and Jury: *collective oohs and aahs*

Gods why am I doing this

So, since I believe nobody really cares for that new DC base builder game: DC Dark Legion. I as a player (only when I am very bored tho) feel kind of obligated to preserve some of the Shazam related content within the game when it inevitably goes offline in a year or so.

Anyway, as I have both Shazam and Black Adam unlocked, I got a little text based interaction between the two. And it was kinda funny. So for my civic duty as a preserver I present you the interaction.

I don't know what you want to do with it (make a fan comic of the interaction, use it as a prompt, I really don't care) but if you read this far you're at least a bit interested so... here you go:

Context: The Batman who Laughs and his Dark Legion invaded an universe and the JL is building bases undergroud for civilains and hero's to evacuate to.

Shazam: Teth! Good to see ya, Buddy

Black Adam: My name is Teth-Adam. I do not care for diminutives

Shazam: Dude, what are you so grouchy about

Black Adam: The conquest of our world by extradimensional invaders

Shazam: Yeah, that is a drag. But we’ll fix it.
