one thing about you and hugh’s relationship was that you always waited behind the camera for hugh during scenes you weren’t in, so when you weren’t there, he was confused.

“oh hey hugh,” halle called from the food table, watching the boy run rather quickly past her.

he flashed her a quick smile, “hi! i lost my wife!”

halle’s brows furrowed, laughing under her breath at the concerned man, “hugh i just saw her in hair and makeup.”

“thanks!” he calls, still on the move, taking a sharp turn to where you were.

once he’d reached the hair and makeup section, he stopped and smiled.

you flashed the boy a quick smile back, trying not to move too much as one stylist put rollers in your fresh blowout and the other worked on your makeup. you looked beautiful, to say the least.

“hey baby,” you purred as hugh walked over to you. you placed a hand to his face, running your thumb up and down his cheek slowly.

he grabbed your wrist in comfort, “hi. i was looking for you, i just finished my scene.”

you smirked, “we’ll get excited, i’m in the next one with you. just me and you.”

i played harley quinn, batgirl, and red hood dlc missions. I loved red hood because it was just different from the rest of the game. (also bc i trapped black mask in the corner and beat the shit out of him)

i also completed all the dlc missions with bats. my fav was def the mr freeze mission. i love the ending and how it perfectly ends their story.

killer croc comes in second because i got to see my dickie!!!! <3 but not much substance

league of assassins and then mad hatter. i think the mad hatter mission from arkham city was much more fun…

the harley quinn one was the hardest for me to adapt too but stylistically i rly enjoyed it. the red hood one was definitely a top fave of mine, bcos you got to shoot ppl fr and also his dialogue was so hot.

the mr freeze one was really sweet, but the killer croc one is my favorite by far. everything about it aesthetically to the design to the message. i think about it all the time. the way they mutated croc’s appearance based on the fact the warden kept cutting pieces of him away, forcing his body overcompensate to a grotesque degree was fascinating. the fact the villain of that story was the warden, and batman was on croc’s side for the most part. how batman advocated for the warden to be locked aside the person he called a monster. everything about it i wanna sink my teeth into. it was a very rare side of batman that we got to see a situation in which he got to show the audience how fair and just he really is. also the croc boss fight is one of the most dynamic boss fights of the series, very satisfying, gorgeous visuals. they did a great job

i think using the mad hatter as an ode to past arkham projects was really sweet, and fighting thugs from past games inside the style and flow of arkham knight was rly cool for me.

it's literally just vibes! simple gay intuition. like i mentioned yuri cuz she was Rly feeling herself in her quite dykey casual fit for soshi tamtam vs she's usually dressed Standard Korean Actress so kind of professional elegant and polished. i'm not saying she's actually masc by any means but she does enjoy wearing outfits that gay/bi women would wear.

the first one is the soshi tamtam fit and the second one is very bi4bi couple look to Me.

other examples r sejeong and hani because they literally dress sooooo differently in their free time from when they're in public it's quite stark. boa dresses like a male professor when she's on vacation.

i can't name like everyone i know who has worn a gay outfit off the top of my head but it's a fair amount i think.

For once I'm going to participate in this year's goretober! And since it's still September I thought I would make an oc I could use through goretober :D

I honestly don't rly have any ideas for her name n shit- literally just made her randomly only for goretober (aka to go through hell)

Day one of goretober:

But there are reasons for why I gave her that pallet/design!

To point out first is the white, black and green on her clothes (and hair). This being so the blood would have different effects on each colour! (As seen in the 'blood colour on colour'). It would stand out a lot on the white and green, with the white being well... white, therefore the blood would be a lot brighter and stand out more, while the green is more of a contrasting colour to red, making it stand out a lot when there's a lot of blood (but normally the blood would look more brown on the green). And the black would not change much with the blood, but if theres a lot, oh boy will it be visible

The pattern on the green skirt was mostly done for the detail (and the skirt being too plain before), also cause the way it would fold/react with different poses and... well... blood would probs be fun to do, since the whole point of goretober for me is to get better at art!

I mostly tried to give her clothes that would be easy for me to draw, but also wouldn't fully cover her- since my main idea for this OC is that with each day she would have scars left behind from the past days, therefore I would want them visible

The ripped tights were mostly there for the style of it, but I added the tights specifically cause it just looked a bit too plain without em- I wanted the whole design to be relatively cohesive and work together well

Not much to say abt the heels other than I made them to match the top, so the white and black and shown through the design

Another spot white Is used is in her bandana! It mostly being there since I don't like drawing tops of heads, and I can probably try some cool stuff with it for the drawings! Btw I did make it white since the hair was fairly dark and if i used black it would just blend in too much, and there was already green in the hair, so white was the best stylistic choice

The long earrings were added since they would be fun to draw at different angles to help show how the character is positioned better! Also cause it just adds more detail. That being the primary reason for the addition of the other ear piercing and nose bridge piercing (I think that's what it's called, correct me if I'm wrong)

The hair was colours brown since it's fairly basic and matches the belt and eyes well! While the green fringe was added to bring more green into the design, and cause it looks cool

The final thing I will mention is the face design- the nose being fairly simple and pointed (cause it's fun to draw and gives the character more sharp points which is seen throughout), also I did only define her top lip (making it a black lip) mostly for design reasons and cause it looked too crowded if I did add a bottom lip. Finally I made the eyes a bit far apart cause it looks cute, and made the liner quite sharp and long (cause yasss queen) also did add cute lil bottom lashes! Next thing to mention is the eye colour, I made a Goldy brown colour cause it matches the hair and belt, also cause in light it would reflect/look very golden. Finally I added a small mole over the left of her top lip, mostly cause I need to see more of it- it just looks so cute for no reason

literally when the pirate au bug bit me, i had one (1) scene in mind and zero plot, and i expected it to fizzle in a month or less like the strong majority of my projects—but it's been almost a calendar year, and not only am i still pluggin away at it, it's by far the most narratively and stylistically complex thing i've ever done, and the most heartfelt, and (imo) the best. 81k words, 8 out of 11+epilogue chapters written, and i'm just eternally astonished by that!!! like thank god for celebros's enthusiasm tbh, and her truly bonkers amount of joy when i worked up the guts to ask her to write it with me—and her patience w my standing issues w collaboration. it's frankly un-fucking-speakable how much growth this story has shepherded me through, and i am gonna cry like the fucking tides when we write the final word soon and start posting it.

i have no idea anymore tbh lol. i can tell u that the first fic i ever wrote was an episode tag for the mentalist, and that i was probably was somewhere between the ages of 12 and 15???? but i don't remember the specifics that got me into it. i started reading fic (also for the mentalist) when i was like, 11, so, probably because after a year or two i convinced myself to just give it a shot and the rest was history. at the end of the day, though, it probably just comes down to an uncontrollable urge to put that blorbo into a situation!!

🔪 ⇢ what's the weirdest topic you researched for a writing project?

not for a fanfic, but i had to know SO MUCH about a limited model run of a special drag racing car that ford made in the early 1960s (only a few hundred made, very rare, etc etc) due to a personal writing project i started and then kind of abandoned when i was like, 16 lol. i used to know the production run numbers and engine size and the paint colors and everything by memory. it was ridiculous.

if you love something, do it. even if you fear you won't do it well- if you love something enough, you love it enough to do it shitty. that's so much better than not doing it at all. learning to let go of my incredibly creativity-freezing perfectionism is an ongoing task that i am not even halfway thru, so trust me when i say i know how tough that rly is. but you always regret the things you didn't try more than the things you did.

🐚 ⇢ do you like or dislike surprises?

aaaaaah do we still mean in writing lol? or irl? i like a surprise twist or turn in writing quite a lot! i also love foreshadowing and being chased down by the narrative. there's no perfect right answer! as for irl, it depends, but i don't like to get scared or to have plans suddenly changed at the last minute. if it's a surprise outside of those circumstances, then yes, i do!

🧩 ⇢ what will make you click away from a fanfiction immediately?

for me it's either poor formatting (i.e. no paragraph breaks, no quotations, no commas, that kind of thing), or (and i hope this doesn't come off rude in any way bc i know we all make different choices stylistically and are all always learning and growing too!), and this might just be a me thing, but if the pov is from like. a god-mode position where the third person narrative knows what every character is thinking at the same time and it's not just switching povs or like. one character's prediction of another's pov. but like. idk what that is called. it just kind of breaks my immersion to the story i think, so i don't tend to vibe with it!

Unfortunately, this era was the cause of a lot of strife for Arizens; the stylists either hit it out of the park and Aria was drop dead stunning - or she ended up looking a little like a bratz doll a toddler had gotten their hands on. Unfortunately for Aria, their first win with ‘Cherry Bomb’ left pictures of her in a plastic, obviously dyed blue skirt and cherry pink hair to match immortalized on the internet forever. 

tldr; arizens hoped that her stylist got fired after this era. the plastic skirt wasn't the worst thing they'd done.

Depending on the venue, idols are normally sat on straight rows of chairs and benches, or at round tables. Given the choice, Aria would always prefer to sit at one of the tables, as not only does it give her a chance to not have to worry about her legs being seen while being covered by the tablecloth - if there is one - but it lets her keep everyone sitting near her in her direct line of vision. 

However, should she have to sit in one of the main rows, she’ll normally end up squished beside one of three boys - Donghyuck, Yuta and/or Renjun. Should one of those three be unaviliable, Doyoung and Jeno are usually quick enough to fill in the empty space. 

Donghyuck would always be her first choice, was it not for the boy’s incessant energy that sometimes left her nerves fried before their performance. Most days she adored the company - adored him and his efforts to get her mind off their impending songs with various games and ways to pass the time (they're not allowed play footsie anymore though, because Aria stomped on his foot with her heel once) - but other days she just needed someone to hold her hand and say nothing. That’s where Yuta and Renjun come in.

As Aria’s found out over the years, for all the man’s tactile affection and loud displays of love, Yuta’s highly perceptive to when she needs some silent comfort. Now, she’s not sure if he’s that perceptive to everyone or just her - but either way she’s not complaining. 

With Dream, Renjun is the one she’ll sit with and doodle on the white napkins that are laid out on the table for lord knows what reason. After being bored out of their minds for their first few award shows, Renjun had snuck two black ballpoint pens into the venue in the inside of his red suit jacket. The drawings had become somewhat a tradition, and the best doodle normally is uploaded to bubble shortly after the show has ended. 

All in all, Aria’s normally quite content to sit in the centre of the large group of boys - split over several rows or tables, boisterous and bubbly with energy. The only real downside to it all is the lack of blankets available to protect her modesty once she is seated. 

Most venues split the idols fairly evenly between the boy and girl groups - with blankets being allocated especially for the seating of girl groups. This meant, unfortunately, that when NCT files into their seats and sits down, there is rarely something in the close vicinity that Aria can borrow quickly without causing a fuss.

Sometimes she gets lucky - other female idols might spot her and are normally kind enough to hand over one of their cushions or blankets, content to share with their neighboring member. Occasionally though, Aria has no such luck and is left to either pull down her dress multiple times per minute to cover the prickly feeling over the tops of her legs when she felt like eyes were boring into her, or wait for some kind of break so she could go find a spare covering.

Aria supposed after the third time something like that had happened, her members were getting fed up with it all. 

At first it was their plan B: should some type of cover-up not be available in their immediate vicinity, Johnny or Lucas or Jaehyun - once, even Dejun - or another member who ran hot near-constantly would shrug off their jacket and fold it over Aria’s legs, pulling it up and then lifting her hands to place them in her lap to hold their jacket there. 

Eventually it became their plan A however, now commonplace for Aria to go looking for the member who was wearing multiple layers and who wouldn’t suffer from the loss of their outermost one.

Red carpets were always something to dread, in Aria’s eyes.

The cameras flashing bright enough to blind you, and the knowledge that if she stumbled or - god forbid - fell it would be immortalized forever on Koreaboo’s newest blog post. 

However the worst bit, was always the footwear. High, stiletto heels that left her teetering around on nothing more than her tippy-toes, precariously balanced as she made her way up and down stairs, over carpet and tiled flooring alike. 

Aria was used to wearing heels, but the one’s she performed in were usually fitted with various types of ankle support and a thick heel to give her balance. Wobbling around on a heel the same width of a piece of uncooked spaghetti was not something she’d willingly choose. 

Not to mention the blisters. 

Designer shoes were gifted to the company on a regular basis - shipped over just in time for Aria to slip into the pair before stepping out of the van into the sea of bright flashes and reporters. It always seemed like designers were too pre-occupied with making a shoe look good rather than making them actually wearable. 

The first time Aria had been gifted a set of heels - early 2018 - she made the mistake of assuming that they would be in similar comfort as her performance heels. 

Two hours later and with a wad of bloody tissue stuffed into the back of them, Aria had learnt her lesson. 

From then on, it was commonplace for Aria to bandage her heels before she went out to shows - not quite as heavily as she normally would for a performance, but just enough to stop the skin splitting under the constant abrasion. 

She’d only been caught out badly once - but it was all caught on camera by a fan sitting close by, and spread over twitter like wildfire. 

Aria had limped her way back over to where NCT 127 was sitting, lips pressed together in a tight line and hands clenched in the tight material of the leather trousers she had been given to wear. The trousers stopped a few inches above her ankles, so the red mess of her heels was clearly visible as she hobbled over and sat down with a thud onto the seat. 

Donghyuck placed a hand on Aria’s shoulder, leaning in so that he could see her face behind the curtain of hair that she had let fall to hide her tear-filled eyes from him. 

“Riri?” Donghyuck whispered to her, thumb beginning to rub soothing circles into her arm. “Hey, Riri? What’s going on?” 

Aria only shook her head, gesturing to the pair of torturous heels on her feet.

Donghyuck inhaled sharply when he saw the blood trailing up her leg and soaking into the back of the heel. He turned to his side to elbow Doyoung, grabbing his attention.

“Hyung. Hyung.” He hissed, Doyoung turning around with an over-exaggerated sigh. 

“No, Hyuck, I told you I’m not going to-” Doyoung cut himself off upon seeing Aria’s pain-filled face. “Aria? What’s wrong? What’s happened?” 

Donghyuck slid off his seat onto the ground despite Aria’s protests that the floor wasn’t clean, get up, and explained what had happened to his hyung. Sliding her heel off as slowly as he could to not pull at the skin more, he muttered apologizes to Aria as she inhaled a shaky breath before exhaling it on a small, wet cry. 

“Hyung, did you bring anything for Taeyong-hyung’s shoulder that we could use?” 

“Yeah, yeah I did give me two seconds.” Doyoung bent into the small bag that he had tucked underneath the seat, pulling out a length of bandage that was stowed away in the outermost pocket. 

Donghyuck took it from Doyoung’s hands with a small ‘thank you’, moving to kneel back down in front of Aria and taking her ankle back into his lap.

“Hyuck, no I got it, c’mon the ground isn’t clean-” 

He silenced her with a look. Aria settled back into her chair - defeated - and Donghyuck wrapped the bandage around her heel as quickly but as painlessly as he could manage.

Maybe Aria should have been paying more attention to the camera that was slowly panning around the idols, projecting their faces up onto a large screen beside the stage, but she was too engrossed in the current group’s performance. 

“그렇다고 네 맘이 작다는 게 아냐,” Swaying gently side to side and mouthing along to the lyrics, Aria was happy enough to smile along to the song and move her hands in a small mimickery of the choreography she’d taught herself off the group’s dance practice video she’d watched only a few dozen times. 

It wasn’t until Mark poked her in the side that Aria broke out from her own little bubble, twisting her head to look back at him and then up at the screen when he pointed. 

There, her face, staring back at her from the big screen was enough to make her mouth drop open a little bit and her eyes widen. She clapped a hand to her mouth before turning to hide her face in Jaehyun’s shoulder, shaking with embarassed laughter. 

Aria could hear Taeyong’s teasing laugh in return, before a hand came and ruffled the hair on top of her head, that she swatted away.

Aria knew she was there. 

She knew that she was sitting right there and that she was in one of those really skimpy dresses stylists loved to put girls in because apparently female idols don’t deserve modesty and Aria knew that she had a blanket for once and she should share it but oh my god.

It was Chungha.

Aria was going to pass out. 

Taking side glances every few seconds only confirmed the fact that Chungha was pulling down her dress to cover as much of her legs as possible, tucking her ankles together and underneath the seat.

Ok.

Ok, she could do this. 

Aria took a steeling breath, before shifting on her seat to face Chungha on more of a diagonal. She lifted her hand before lowering it slighly, looking away. 

Should she- no ok she’s doing this. 

Without giving herself time to talk herself out of it, Aria moved to rest her hand on Chungha’s arm. The older woman jerked slightly - startled - and Aria was quick to apologize. 

There was no audio in the video uploaded - the original poster having been too far away to capture much - but the two women talked for a moment before Chungha pointed to the blanket and then herself.

Aria nodded emphatically, and Chungha’s face crumpled into something fond, bowing her head in thanks before they unfolded the blanket another time and Chungha scooted an inch closer to Aria so they’d both fit. 

Chungha sent Aria another grateful smile before refocusing on the performances - apparently not noticing, or perhaps choosing not to comment on the rather obvious red tinge that the younger idol’s cheeks had taken on.

I'm 5'7 (literally only just by like less than 1cm) with brown eyes and long blonde hair that is dip-dyed a rose gold-y pink halfway down. In terms of body type I'm reasonably slim and, with no real way of wording this without it sounding weird (as if this is any better), shaped like the letter P. Haha ok ANYWAYS I tend to wear clothes that fit the "soft girl" aesthetic and have a huge love of cardigains and fake fur coats (I recently bought a massive fake fur leopard print coat and I would die for it in a HEARTBEAT).

My absolute fave things in the world are cats, the colour pink, nature and cosplaying. I have taken most of my friends on picnics with them and enjoy making rly flimsy daisy chains and also making the food to eat there because cooking/baking is one of my main hobbies and I make sure to make something every weekend (latest creations being flapjacks & coconut chicken with rice just not both together at th same time that would be such a cursed combo ew). Pink and cats are p self explanitory but cosplay holds such a huge place in my heart as a former drama kid it gives me a way to express myself and also combine my other loves of sewing and makeup into a final product 💗💗💗. Yeah I saw the critiques and criticisms about the translation and how unhappy people were with it which is totally valid and I agree that others could do a better job. Especially because the translator I believe had only studied Korean for a relatively short time like 7 years or so and how the novels style had changed so much too. I read an interview where she had mentioned that when she read a sentence once, she had such a clear image of it in her mind when she translated but when she looked back at the text she couldn’t find the exact words and realized that she had to capture a feeling. That’s super interesting to me as someone who studies languages—just the affect itself needing to be captured.

The debates about translation are so interesting because some people make great points about how with translations there are things that are always lost. But also then there are also great points about how fidelity to the original is impossible in many ways because how language works and all the nuances and contexts are, in a way untransmissible literally in other languages. Five people could translate the same text into the same language and there’d be five new creations entirely. So there’s something to be gained as well. My opinions are always kind of fluid on it. Ive seen what I’ve thought were great and horrible translations of texts in languages I’m more comfortable with. (Korean unfortunately is not a language I know enough beyond reading and learning the Hangul characters years ago.)

Ok i got carried away, to end I think you’d be a great translator who could capture way more than what’s beyond the page.

to be clear i think deborah smith did a good job translating han kang's work and the author was satisfied with it as well. i think her stylistic choices were p grounded in translation necessity like the main qualm ppl have is that she's too verbose/ornate where han kang is subtle/nuanced/streamlined/blunt. i think to express what han kang was saying she needed more words. my big bone to pick is the localization to like victorian england for 1980s korean saturi (jeollado saturi i think?) but that's also necessary for english speakers to understand the rural and classed implications i guess.

yes yes words are really entirely either affect or associations and translation is a futile act of creation that people usually accept as objective when that isn't possible. i was just having a convo about that with someone and i said this
