This has been sitting in my ask box for a week now and I was having a hard time deciding between all my individual works, so today I'm going to talk about... ✨a collection✨ In terms of songs, I was pretty happy with this, making 7 songs (plus a few bonuses, with one still to be released...oop) for Winter Solstice Week based on a prompt list from a friend. Meeting deadlines is very satisfying. (Don't tell that to my unfinished virtual choir project that I meant to have done before the channelversary 😅) There was a prompt for each day of the week, but you could choose which Redacted characters went with each day. So I did... 1) "Avior's Winter Dreamscape" (Prompt: Wonderland). I think this one turned out sooooo pretty. 2) "Hearth Song" for Damien and Huxley (Prompt: Hearth) **P.S. I would LOVE for someone(s) to cover this so it doesn't just sound like me pretending to be two dudes. Like, I can kinda do voices but it's harder when you're singing lol. Seriously, though, if you want the backing track, I'll send it.**

3) "This Winter's Gonna Bite" for Vega (Prompt: Snow). This might be one of my favorite songs I've ever done. The instrumentation tickles me. Big ol' Christmas bells while Vega sings about what a dick he is and how happy that makes him. 4) "Cookies for My Empathy Daemon" (Prompt: Holiday). In the style of 'I want a hippopotamus for Christmas' and 'Dominic the Donkey', this was a silly song and one of the first I finished. The idea is that Santa doesn't actually eat the cookies left out for him; somebody else does. 5) "As Long As I Share It With You" (Prompt: Dinner). Something soft and romantic for the vampire cowboy and his culinarily-inept werewolf lover.

6) "A Healer's New Year" (Prompt: Family). Okay, so I had to do one song as Marie. And 'Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas' is one of my favorites (I love a little bitter with my sweet, what can I say?) 7) "Frenchie's Christmas Wish" (Free space on the prompt list!). This is a meta-song about my little journey through making creative content and sharing it online. And it's a love letter to the fandom. 😘 BONUS TRACKS: "Baby, Mind If I Move in Closer?" inspired by the surprise return of Ivan. This is more a vignette than a full song. A little moment. All the lyrics, except for one, I either ripped (with credit) from 'Baby It's Cold Outside' or the actual script for the audio. It's meant to be a bit dark. Like Ivan. "There's Snow Way I'm Gonna Let You Go" for Regulus. Around the same time of the WSW prompt list, I signed up for a fic/gift exchange, and a jazzy little yandere number is what I came up with for that. STILL TO COME: I have a 'Blake and Bestie snuggling with hot cocoa' song finished, but I'm very blocked in terms of production. It'll happen.

so this is basically a working title for the wip and playlist, i have NO clue what this would actually be if i wrote it. but in a SHOCKING twist of events it is not smut!

so. this wip is about my bright eyes and is like an exploration/character study? I was really wondering what would be going on to make bright act the way they did (as best as I can piece it together) and decided to maximize the mental illness stat and somehow this angsty child was born.

The fun (to me, being in psychology school) is trying to dig deep into their fucked up little brain and looking at their relationship with fred and sam and vincent, being turned, with Alexis, etc. For some reason (I have no idea why /j) I love making characters and trying to diagnose them or study them like a bug,

I don't even know what to talk about with them, my crazy bean. They like horror movies and spicy food, they're a certified thrill seeker (anything to feel alive) which is why they went to WonderWorld that night, Fred and bright are each other's only friends because nerd x loner (sorry Erik they've been friends since middle school, they told me), they're very quiet, they struggle with some intense and severe mental illness....

The main plot of the fic is totally undecided. I have no clue what I'm going to do with them - idk if they're going to leave the solaires, or stay and try to work stuff out, run off with Alexis for the wayward vampires club, wind up dead... who knows. it's like a visual novel in there with endings.

Fanfic Writer Ask Game 👻 - What is your wildest headcanon?

In my main verse, I'm having Remy as a former occasional sex worker which is something I grew very fond of by now. Sex work is work, and aside from the necessary and important information about its dangers, we also need far more good representation in media of it out there, not least to fight the worrying rise of purity culture - stemming a lot from fascism - in the last few years. It's one of the few good things Whedon ever did in the shape of Firefly (ignoring that of course he'd had plans to fuck up later, too). Anyway, that said, I'm giving Remy a very independent and positive spin on this part of his life as well, while of course acknowledging the problematic sides often coming with the job as soon as crime is involved. Remy is both unapologetic and without regrets in that regard in my verse, having gone about the job very Finnick Odair, without the whole force angle though. It's been very fun working Remy into the verse of the first two movies in general, and getting Marie and him together, and this was definitely one of the most helpful angles, exploring how understanding she is about everything and kicking his ass for even thinking she wouldn't be; how absolutely uninterested he is about pushing anything physical in their relationship not least because he's very chill about sexuality after that part of his past; and how chill and patient they go about anything sexual with time. I loved doing that arc a lot.

🦋 - Which character is your favorite to write?

Exploring movie!Scott has been a project of mine for about 20 years, so I guess that's always a safe bet. It's one of my favorite pastimes, working a lot of his comic history and details into his movie persona and giving him the depth the Fox-movies didn't have the time and/or interest in providing. I am also very fond of doing the same for movie!Logan, so that would be a close second.

🦈 - Which character is the toughest to write?

Again, since I'm only acknowledging X1 and X2 as my canon, I don't have a lot to work with for some characters, not least with regard to Ororo. Coming up with worthy storylines for her for my verse always proved challenging, and I still feel I need to give her a more rewarding arc at some point.

💌 - Is there a favorite trope you like to write?

I mean, I end up writing literally hundred thousands of words every whumptober, so I guess my hurt/comfort addiction is not really a secret. I blame it on loving all those doctor series on TV as a kid.

romy: she almost exclusively goes by "ro." the only people who call her romy are her family (sometimes) and one of her friends who used to call her that when they were kids.

7. my deepest joy about writing... this is a lovely question. I love working with different character voices, and really - inhabiting those characters headspaces for a story. everything is very felt with me.

so. this idea plagued me until I wrote 'the rest is history', on a train, late at night. it was never going to be a full fledged fic. this was after the end of inversion, I'd been thinking about david and ash's episode in it (the 'you're mad at me' conversation) and their potential romantic history.

at some point, I started thinking about how this would fit into current canon. about the discussion of a third, and how throwing david into the mix would work. and how actually, after becoming alpha, and before meeting angel, it could help david open up a little. intimacy with people he trusts.

and then I wrote an overview. and after writing the overview, I realised I could write the whole night, and well. the rest is history. 😘

the fic in question: ivory tower (spoilers for that under the cut!)

lovely and vincent's story has always been very fairytale-esque to me - their meeting at wonderworld, lovely's kidnapping and power reveal, the tragedy of the inversion and their turning...... plus the framing of vincent as the 'prince' of the solaire clan is so wonderful to me - i really wanted to see how far i could push that, and it was a great way of stretching my writing muscles trying to convert the existing redactedverse into something that could be understood in the context of a classical fairytale!!

(i do wish it wasn't in lcase - maybe one day i'll go back and fix that on ao3, but that'll take FOREVER and i don't really have the time rn lol)

originally, i wasn't going to mention the whole 'vincent's a vampire' thing in the fairytale context, but there wasn't really another way to really express lovely's sense of loss at losing their electro powers without superseding them with something different, hence the 'special sort of magic' that the solaires have ✌️✌️

switching between dialogue in the present day and the overarching, very stylised narration of the fairytale was REALLY fun - it was a good way to not only ground myself in canon, but also to do a bit of that zoomed-in, slice of life stuff that i think they deserve 🥰🥰 plus my absolute favourite bit from this fic is vincent's little monologue after the inversion (the bit that starts "lovely, i know you can't hear me.", to "i swear it on my life. every everlasting day of it.") hehe 💖💕

i love love LOVE to pop in little bits of background worldbuilding and random noodle incidents that i think add a little bit of flavour, and that tie together a bit of my cinematic universe - vincent's love of peach daiquiris comes back in get in, loser!, lovely's jam tarts come back in 五二零, and i'm very tempted to bring back the story about the time lovely "got a bit too excited about kissing him" some time in the future 🤩🤩🤩

i'm so so pleased with the SURGE = tower parallel - i think it's turned out really well, and it serves as a really nice landmark (in both the literal and metaphorical senses) for this fic and for vincent and lovely inside of it! overall, i love the tone of the narration and the way it flows, and they've suffered enough in canon, mr erik - if i want to give them a fairytale wedding then i will, dammit!!
