Maelor being Helaena and Aemond’s son makes zero sense, I’m sorry. There’s nothing in the leaks that even slightly hints to that and if that were the case, it would be purely due to fan-service since the writers didn’t have any intention of making Helaena and Aemond a romantic dynamic (Phia and Ewan have said there were no undertones in the script at all). People are jumping to conclusions because they said Helaena and Aemond will have more scenes together but that doesn’t mean Aemond will father her child…he has issues with intimacy and doesn’t even want the brothel madame to kiss him. If you think this actually makes sense based on a crackship people made up, I don’t know what to tell you. That is horrendous writing. Not to mention Helaena is consumed by grief; pretty sure the last thing on her mind is gonna be conceiving a bastard with her other brother. Fanfic vibes.

I never said that I think Helaemond makes sense in the show especially as we see S2 currently develop. It could potentially make sense in S3 if the writers give us the appropriate framework. I’ve barely talked about Helaemond actually so I’m assuming your frustration is general and not directed towards me 🥺👉🏻👈🏻

But anyway, I think that Maelor and the events surrounding him and his parentage remain a mystery as for now, so who knows what the writers actually conjure up for S3? They have already deviated from book canon with hotd characters and events and they might do it again… at the present moment, it would be difficult to fathom how Heleamond could work in the show but they might find a way to do so… All I’m saying is that I wouldn’t be surprised if they do. Would I wanna see it? Not particularly, since I think S3 will touch a lot upon “blood” vs. “family” with Aegon’s and Rhaenyra’s legacies and I see the writers building on that theme and having Maelor be Aegon’s son while Aegon III and Viserys II are Rhaenyra’s sons works very well for world-building parallelisms for S3 and S4.

Yet we shouldn’t forget that this is Ryan Condal’s show and he already gave us Alicole out of nowhere so I’m not the best person to console you on Helaemond. I think it’s a nice ship to read fics about, but I haven’t given it much thought in terms of how it could play out on TV.

#12 What’s your perfect environment to create/write?

i feel like i can write anywhere as long as i'm not going to get interrupted. writing for me is so hard if my attention is going to be grabbed by something else at 15 min intervals. I am so much more productive if i can just sit in front of computer for two hours straight. i've tried to have my doc open in the background and just write little bits throughout the day but i can't. that's probably why chap 11 is taking so long because i can't remember the last time i had two hours uninterrupted. i'm about to taking a f*cking vacation day just so i can finish it.

now ideally, my daughter is with grandma, my husband is at work, i'm in my recliner in my home office, i've got dermot kennedy on repeat playing in the bluetooth speaker down the hall and all the lights are off with only natural light coming in through the windows, i've got a latte and a package of oreos and i've already taken three ibuprofen.

my ideal fic has humor, romance, action, and an undercurrent of healing from trauma, all with the resolution that love is the meaning of life... so essentially tpfy in a nutshell 🙃
