Love your art! I was super inspired by your Gillion design specially. He's so squishable (positive).

Do you have a specific process for designing characters? Be it original or reimagining canon designs of fandom

hmm, well, i don't remember the last time i properly designed an original character, so nothing on that front. for reimagining designs... i don't have a step by step way i do it, it varies from character to character, but i can point out some of the things i do that might be helpful?

i largely base my designs on the vibes the character gives me: their manner of speech, their actions, their story and personality. and also the world and environment around them if it affects the character. it sounds pretty obvious but like, duh.

im gonna try and explain on gillion's example since its the one you mentioned. he's a himbo, a swimmer and a paladin, so he's gonna be buff or at least a little thicker. he's a triton, so he's short. he's also short for the reason that he is in an unfamiliar for him world and he might feel small in it. he's also short because it makes him look almost child like, connecting it to his trauma and lack of childhood that manifests in his behavior now. gillion is kind or at least trying to be, so his features will be softer and rounder. but sometimes he's chaotic or harsh, so he has some sharp features too. though they're secondary, the softness is still the main focus.

i also really like to think and overthink the designs while drawing. i try to keep everything simpler and less detailed, showing personality with shapes rather than uhh presence(?), but that means that details i do include have a lot of thought behind them.

one of my favorite things is practically. i love to think about what a character would realistically wear in the climate they're in, which clothing would be comfortable for their anatomy and field of work. would certain things get in the way or would they be helpful? how would they style their hair, do they need it tied back or do they not care? would they wear make up, why yes or why not? etc etc etc. i like asking myself questions and answering them in the design.

continuing with the gillion example. he's constantly wet because he's a triton (again, yes), so it would be more comfortable for him to wear a wetsuit. other clothes may stick to him and be uncomfortable, or get stuck on his fins, etc. he doesn't have any piercings, there's no way he would've gotten them in the undersea, and on the surface i don't think there was anything meaningful enough to promt him to get it. plus fin ears. he doesn't have his hair styled in a complicated way because of the coral on his head. doesn't wear a lot of jewelry because he jumps in the water a lot and it'll easily get lost. no belts or flowy bits because they constrict the movement and might get in the way.

and then like. all the personal headcanons and preferences and little bits and things. there's a lot of elements that i draw just because i like how they look. or because that's a comfortable thing for me, or because it's cute or hot or sad or whatever. or because i saw it while looking for inspiration and i really liked it. just bullshitting with the design and making it my own, yknow?

for gillion. gave him a cool long tail and lots of fins everywhere because i like it when inhuman characters are openly and visibly inhuman and have distinct features. and gillion is VERY much not human, part of his personality is being confused about humans. big ol yellow eyes with slits — look cool, also doubles as an inhuman feature, also makes him look curious about the world. small black stripes all over his body — make him look more fishy, plus because there's a lot of them and they're all the same they form a pattern that looks more like a natural anatomical feature and draw less attention. coral that goes around his head and not only the front like a tiara— makes it feel more three dimensional and looks cool in perspective (also i kinda just drew it wrong and never fixed it). coral and fins are pink — adds some much needed color variation and contrast, plus pink is one of the more natural colors which again make him look animalistic and not magical, plus ties in with pretzel. his skin is closer to green than blue — removes blue from the color pallet (especially with his eyes being yellow instead of blue), making the design more coherent and pleasing, allows me to properly introduce reds and purples without it looking like a mess of colors (although it still does sometimes). sharp teeth — fish, cute. yellowish underbelly — supports the yellow for the eyes and makes it stand out less, plus again, animalistic feature. little to no details on the clothing — creates good negative space that lets the eyes rest and focus the attention on everything else. his fringe and hair are floating around and don't follow the laws of physics — personal headcanon that it always looks like he's under water, plus adds roundness to the design because of the waves and curls.

ookay haha sorry didn't mean to write down literally every design decision here-- kind of derailed the post again.

basically yeah, for me designing is like a dialog with myself where i ask and answer questions. also something that wasn't mentioned are references and inspiration. if i don't have a good idea when i start, i usually scroll through my gallery or pinterest for some time to get ideas and figure out the general direction i want to take the design, maybe also find some fun stuff to include, etc.

hopefully this long ramble was at least somewhat helpful or gave you insight on my progress. i wanted to draw some things to also visually explain the design decisions for gill, but i think I'll do it later and in a separate post, and maybe include chip and jay too...

Lady Doolli

I’ve mentioned before that I like blind box toys and ball jointed dolls and now I’m in trouble because there are blind box ball jointed dolls out there.

Lady Doolli is blind boxed but is NOT a BJD though she’s in a similar style. I’d seen these on Amazon for a while and was curious but only recently decided to give one a try.

There is 1 skintone, 6 different hair styles/colors, and it looks like maybe 2 eye colors.

There are also 6 possible outfits.

The box is small and cute with a lot of pictures and writing on it, especially making a point to let you know there’s no second outfit in here and they must be bought separately.

The outfits are packed in a little paperboard box shaped like a garment bag. It says 2022 Spring, so I wonder if there are many other outfit sets that have been released.

To be honest, I don’t care for any of these outfits, really. Figured I should get one to review, at least.

Both the doll and outfit are packed in these silver foil bags inside the boxes. There’s no plastic shell or anything to hold their position in the packaging. They’re just loose in there.

I got dark, long hair with a side part with blue and purple eyes, and almost missed the tiny little bag of extra hands inside the silver bag. She does come already dressed in the pajamas.

I tried to get a good photo of the face screening but my phone is a potato. There’s a good amount of detail with a simple layout. She has eyeshadow, blush on the cheeks, chin, nose, and brows, a little lip line to separate her lips... It’s a cute face, but I do prefer my dolls to not look sad or startled.

She does have rooted hair which is silky and smooth. It’s a little stiffer than Kiwi nylon (Rainbow High) while still being soft.

She also has a couple paint spots on her face that look to be from the eyebrow paint.

The rooting isn’t super dense in some areas.

Her head is harder than a Barbie’s head but is squishable to a degree so her eyes could be removed and replaced with some heat and her hair could be rerooted if you wanted.

Hair drop on a new doll head is normal. This looks like a plug or two which didn’t get anchored.

I’m impressed with the posing. The joints are stiff enough to hold a pose but easy to move other than her hips which take a little bit more pressure, and have a high range of motion.

The torso joints aren’t as mobile as the arms and legs, though.

Her head can look up and down or tilt left and right depending on how you turn the neck joint which is a simple hinged ball.

The backs of the knees...

All of the jointing reminds me of Figmas.

Honestly I feel like the body alone is worth the $26 price tag, AND you get a rooted head with quality hair and inset eyes, a pair of pajamas, and an extra pair of hands.

Neither outfit that I have has any sort of closures or openings so you do need to remove the head and hands to dress her.

Getting the hands on and off is difficult

Turns out there’s a LOT of flash on her wrist pegs. I did go in and clean that off. There was a good sized bit on her neck ball, too.

Heat up the hands, though, and they go on and off pretty easily.

As for the outfit.

Silver bag again.

I couldn’t get this headband to stay on her hair because it’s satin and her hair is satiny smooth, but it does have a wire in the “ears” so you can pose it as you wish.

LOOK AT THESE TINY LITTLE SHOES!

They have stitches, laces, tongues, glued on rubbery soles with IN SCALE texture on the bottom...

They went on a lot more easily than I expected them to OVER her socks. I did need to get a little stick to pull the back of the heel out and over the doll’s heels. Other than that, easy-easy.

I also didn’t even try to extract and tie the laces. They looked really short and I have poor motor control, so I opted to just shove her feet in there with the laces tucked inside.

The outfit came with shorts, a one-piece sweater and shirt combo, and some long socks. The socks aren’t hemmed but everything else is. Again, no closures, not even an elastic waistband on the shorts. The shorts were a little difficult to put on.

All of the fabrics are soft and despite the sweater having a feelable texture, it’s not rough or scratchy so it’s not kicking off my texture-BAD senses.

She can’t quite pull of Sailor Moon’s signature pose.

Here she is next to some other blind box BJD (the others really are BJD). They all could certainly share clothes despite Doolli’s longer, thinner body.

While I do feel that the quality of Lady Doolli is in line with the price (all together she costs $52), and am impressed with, basically, everything about her, I don’t feel a need to buy another. Out of all of the blind box BJD I’ve tried (not pictured here is the Penny’s Box centaurs), the only one I’ve wanted more than one of was Bonnie. I have three.

Trey looks a little flustered by how small you,

so small he can barely take you seriously.

You just look so tiny and cute, he can't help it.

And he tries to cover up, but he fails miserably, especially when you're nagging at him to drop his work and get some rest. He tries to fight back, but really he falls victim to your unintentional cuteness and submits to you.

Trey loves resting his head on top of yours, while he wraps his arms around you and just take in your scent.

He also likes going behind you while you help him with some cooking, and when you tilt your head up to face him, he'll gently poke both your squishy cheeks, chuckling in amusement when you blushed and told him to back off lightheartedly.

He can't get enough of you,

and he's wanting more every second, sometimes, when his emotions just take over when he sees you resting your head on the table and your cheeks just rest on it,

he comes around to tilt your head up slightly, bending down to kiss you while letting his tongue roam around your mouth, smirking against your lips.

Above all, Floyd is really, REALLY shameless in showing he NEVER takes you seriously when you scold him.

He teases you on a daily basis, and teases you more when you have your cheeks puffed at him.

You go nagging to him about his safety, and that alchemy accident he made could have hurt him.

Floyd's just smiling and grinning at how adorable you look with your cheeks puffed up and with that short height of yours, you can basically tell he's not listening to you, and that he's more focused on how cute your face looks.

Floyd interrupts you by cupping your face, gently rubbing his hands in circular motions as your cheeks squish your face, your cheeks flaring up and retaliating him in miserable attempts.

He laughs, giggling about how cute you look as he pinches and pokes your cheeks.

Floyd loves cuddling you, behind or in front doesn't matter. All he wants to do is to rest his chin on your head, as he tilts your face up and play with your cheeks.

Just expect him to tease your height a lot, such as "I couldn't see you from down there, koebi-chan~", he purposely puts the book you want on the high shelf, stuff like that.

Rook just adores how cute you look!

Your small figure and chubby cheeks is what makes Rook think he's hit a jackpot.

so i don't know if what you meant here was "answer all thirty of the dnd meme questions for cephas" but that is how i'm interpreting it so i'mma go ahead and put it under a cut

(also for those not in the know, Cephas (they/she/him/any pronoun you like) is my stone construct witch. yes those are both homebrew things I found online. i use this witch and just recently updated them to the 3.0 version and i'm very excited about it)

1. if one of their friends was jumping on a bed and asked your character to join them, would they?

Yes, absolutely, of course. The bed would then immediately break because Cephas is a couple tons of solid rock, but that's on their friends for not thinking it through. Or maybe that was the plan. Either way, Cephas is on board.

2. would your character carry around a tiny bath and body works hand sanitizer? if yes, would it have a specific scent?

I mean, Ceph does carry around smelling salts enchanted to smell like whatever would make someone feel better in the moment? Which is kind of the same thing? But anyways the real answer is Probably Not unless it was a gift, because Cephas has no sense of smell and has no need to sanitize.

3. does your character paint their nails? do they wait for them to dry fully afterwards?

Technically he doesn't have nails but Cephas will happily allow themselves to be painted over any part of their body, and will stay completely still until it's dry. I know because the party his done this to them before.

4. if you cut open your character’s heart and there was something inside, what would it be? why?

Hm. I mean. Literally speaking, no heart, you just find stone in there. Figuratively speaking... a jade earring. representative of their first steps towards freedom.

5. do/would your character carry lots of hair ties on their wrist?

Nah, not unless one of the other party members asked.

6. what parts of your character’s voice/manner of speaking are distinct, if any?

Hm. Mostly just that their voice is pretty rough and low. Otherwise I think they talk pretty normal??

7. what’s the first thing your character’s eyes are drawn to on a map?

New places. To all the parts of the world they haven't seen yet, and want to.

8. how did your character feel when they left home for the first time?

Okay I'm going to go with the definition of home that means Cephas has to feel like it's home, which would mean the place where they lived with their BFF Effie. And I think the first time they left there, with an intent to go out and adventure, they felt really excited, happy, and like they were finally doing what they were meant to be doing. They'd been feeling very restless up until that point, so it's kind of like scratching an itch. Very satisfying.

9. where does your character look when they’re the only one walking down a road?

All around. She likes to see everything and doesn't get particularly worried about other people or robbers or things like that, so there's a lot of being generally distracted by whatever scenery they're passing through. Sometimes he'll just stop and pretend to be a statue on the side of the road and people watch for a while, if there's time for it.

10. does your character have tattoos? were they alone the first time they got one?

Being made of stone, my darling Cephas can't get tattoos. If they had actual flesh I do think they'd wanna get some.

11. if a button came loose from your character’s shirt, would they make sure the replacement matched?

Cephas doesn't wear clothes, and if they did 'matching' would not be the thing they cared about, so for sure No.

12. how loudly do they cry?

Gods I feel like a lot of these answers are just "Cephas is a stone construct and therefore cannot/does not do the thing" but like Cephas is a stone construct and cannot cry. There have been a lot of times where they wished they could, but their body wasn't built for it. Typically if they're sad, they're quiet about it, reserved.

13. does your character like holding hands? do they do it often?

Yes! But he doesn't do it very often at all. Stone isn't comfortable for other people to hold, and they have to be careful not to hurt people when touching them, so it's generally more dangerous for whoever they're holding hands with than its worth.

14. is your character more likely to wear a necktie, a bowtie, or a bolo tie? (if any at all)

Again, no clothes. But I think Cephas would enjoy a good bolo tie.

15. have you ever said something as your character that stuck with you for a while after? what was it?

Oh lord. Uhhh... hm, well there was this one thing but it is very dependent on the context of the moment. Which is that they were talking with another character who was frustrated about not knowing things, and talking about how in order to be people you have to ask questions even if you don't get answers, you have to keep asking questions. And then they discovered something that was a step in a mystery they'd been trying to deal with and Cephas said "and sometimes you do get answers" and I don't know why but that one did stick with me.

16. what does getting flustered look like for your character?

Stuttering. Awkward hand movements. Maybe reverting to the old "I am but a simple construct with no consciousness" trick if they're really feeling out of sorts.

17. does your character have to glance at their hands to remember left and right?

Ha, no. Cephas knows what they're doing, unlike me.

18. does your character have stuffed animals? would they if they could? what kind?

Hm, no, xe doesn't. But I think they would if they ever settled down and stopped traveling. Even if Cephas can't really feel the softness, they would like it. And they'd be very careful with them too. As for the kind... I'm thinking those, like, huge round ones? Fuck there was a name for them. Squishables?? I think???

19. does your character walk or run down stairs?

Walk, typically. Running could damage things lol

20. if your character saw a turtle stuck on its back, would they flip it over?

Oh yes 100%. And also try and talk to the turtle and see if it needed any further assistance.

21. has your character ever climbed out of a window? would they do it again?

I don't have a moment in mind specifically, but there's no way Cephas hasn't, and they would absolutely do it again.

22. what’s your character’s ideal way to wake up? what usually wakes them up?

Cephas doesn't so much sleep as... go into Obedient Construct mode for four hours, which is to say they will obey any order given to them. Ideal way to wake up from that is in some weird/compromising position because it means his friends were messing with them and they love that. And they can't be woken up unnaturally, so its just that after Four Hours something in their head goes Ding and they're back.

23. what’s the pettiest thing your character’s ever done?

Dyed a nobleman's hair bright pink because he was kind of rude to them when they were pretending to be a normal construct.

24. what made your character the angriest they’ve ever been?

Cephas... doesn't really do anger, generally. But! There was a man who pretended to be a prophet of a god, and collected a small group of true believers. And then he took over a town, and made the townsfolk slaves. And that really got to Cephas, in a very personal way. (They did take care of the man and they still have mixed feelings about doing it.)

25. how does you character smile?

With great effort. Cephas wasn't built to emote, so any facial expressions are subtle and take a lot of concentration and effort to make happen. Over time they've gotten more practiced at this and can do it almost without thought, but it's still the smallest movements for a great amount of toil.

26. does your know the names of their constellations? how did they learn them?

I think, some of them? Cephas lived with her best friend's family for a long time and I think they would've learned some of them there. But then they also definitely made a game out of making up constellations and naming them whatever they wanted, so it's a toss up whether what they know is a real constellation or one they made up and then forgot they made up.

27. do/would your character draw or write on themself?

Oh yeah, for sure.

28. would your character race someone to the top of a tall tree for bragging rights?

Not for bragging rights, but absolutely yes Cephas would race someone. And they would lose because they are big and heavy and not made for climbing, but its more about the fun of it than the winning or the losing for them.

29. is there an artist whose style you associate with your character? (visual or otherwise; poets and musicians, etc. count)

Hmm... not really?? I don't really associate artists with my characters. My friend drew Cephas once, so I think that's the closest I'm gonna get to that. Maybe Delta Rae? I feel like Delta Rae has got those witchy vibes, and that makes me think Cephas.

30. how has your character’s first impressions of their party members changed since they met them? have they stayed the same?

Oh this is delightful because when Ceph first met the party, they were pretending to be a normal construct, so the DM was 'playing' them. Which meant I got to sit there and watch, and so I wrote down what Cephas was thinking. They only met the first three members of the party that day, but I literally have it written down that it was three "good first impressions" because one of them stole a book, another one turned invisible to draw a face on a trash can, and the third called Cephas 'interesting'. Overall impression? A group of messes who just went through something tough and are not dealing with it super well.

Current impression? A surprisingly competent group of messes who are working through some stuff, and very much don't like talking about their feelings. Also, I'm invested.

Seriously though it started out as Cephas thinking they seemed fun and wanting a distraction, and now Cephas is like actually really invested in all of them and their growth and wants to help them as much as they can.

Erin / + Res - Atk = Resilient and willful, just has focus most of the time in areas besides raw strength, particularly when her dragon form was the smallest, technically physical weakness, and she’s stronger in other areas instead.

Teru / + Def - HP = He has great durability and bulk, just his health in other regards is really poor, reflective of just how often he’s so sickly from his condition. Arguably, he had good mental fortitude as well in contrast to being too chronically ill to engage when and how he wants to.

Sparrow / + Spd - Atk = She’s the quickest, not just on her feet, but reflective on her adaptability. However, she doesn’t start off the most battle-ready/inclined right away. (With her digimon, the power she borrowed from them were notably more in a support role as a battle healer, rather than someone like Chrom)

Kyo / +Atk - Spd = He hits like a truck. He just goes right in and lays down the law with very little regards of himself. However, unless he was transformed into something already inclined to be fast, he’s a mighty glacier in his style of fighting in comparison to the others.

Eclair / Neutral = As he was made as almost a blank slate, he has no real strong strengths or weaknesses, and still had to take time to find himself. Whether or not this reflects back on his image-sake (Kiran) or his name-sake (Eclat) is unknown, but likely, doesn’t. Also exists to look cute and be babie until he suddenly has reason not to be as harmless as he seems.

Ryoma / + Atk - Res = In any other regard, he’s normally the one who has the strongest mental fortitude between his meditations and the way he mediates or acts like the supportive Big Bro/Team Dad of his supports in fussing and protecting them collectively with Second-in-Command Camilla. When he battles, however, it’s a whole other side to him that focuses far more ruthlessly in combat and making sure the thing he’s fighting is struck dead for daring to hurt his supports, arguably not thinking the most collectively during the moments he’s at his most stubborn and angry.

Lif / + Atk - Res = Like Ryoma but worse. At least Ryoma has some level of calm or pretend-calm, but when Lif is in a mode to battle, he fights with an utterly brutal style as a remnant of his trauma under Hel’s heel, which his feral-like mood and mindset doesn’t lend itself particularly well to thinking calmly, rationally, or in ways that doesn’t potentially break himself along the way either. It’s not uncommon for him to snap out from his daze with several new, fresh wounds he doesn’t remember getting.

Camilla / + Def - Spd = Tanky, bulky, and can withstand quite a bit, but isn’t particularly the speediest while doing it. While she’s plenty brutal when she strikes, what’s more impressive about her is how strongly she carries herself and braves through pretty dangerous rough points in battle just before laying down the law.

Hrid / + Def - Atk = Compared to the others who are much more brutal when and how they strike, Hrid is much more focused on resisting attacks and fighting in a style on the defensive than striking others down fast, hard, or particularly viciously. His kingdom’s peaceful yet resolved way of thinking and general combat style might have contributed to this, especially as physical weapons take more resolve compared to how easily magic can turn deadly all on its own.

Reinhardt / + Atk - Def = When he strikes, he strikes hard, brutally, and with immense strength in his thunder magic. He lives up to his reputation in people’s beliefs of being the second coming of Thrud. However, he’s far from the most physically built or bulky, especially in comparison to his supports besides Takumi and Teru, and as all his strength drew to his magic and swordplay, he’s not as able to take more direct hits otherwise. With the power of Mjolnir’s heavy motifs toward thunder, and his striking resemblance to Thrud, one wonders if Mjolnir’s blessings still carried through to a possible reincarnation that transcends Reinhardt’s lack of direct blood otherwise, especially as he’s now in company of more direct relations to gods.

Xander /  Neutral = He trained heavily and stressed heavily on excelling in every field and area in battle. The major weakness he has, however, is the sheer amount of toll it took on his mind and mental health despite his will remaining strong and fortified in battle. He is equally a deadly force to be reckoned with as he is a man who is one misstep away from collapsing at an instant.

Takumi / + Res - HP = Despite him showing the complete opposite earlier on, given how he initially heavily worked against himself and his strengths, when he got guidance to hone his strengths over defy it, he’s actually far more mentally fortified or inclined to than he was initially presented (which was marred heavily in his deep-seated insecurities, jealousy and self-depreciation lending to why he was far more vulnerable earlier on). However, as he got older, he unfortunately also showed more how much he inherited qualities from the previously-terminal illness Ikona had, lending to his health being much more fragile than it initially seemed.

Gunnthra / + Def - Spd = A mighty glacier. She isn’t the quickest in combat, particularly when she focuses on a form of magic utilizing her element that has enough range not to need to move as much physically (particularly as her style of dress would be cumbersome to expect swift movement anyways), but like her brother, she’s plenty bulky, and defensive-minded in withstanding quite a bit.

Tethys / + Spd - Def = Even if she isn’t the sturdiest among Gerik’s band or her supports, she’s content with this, as this wasn’t her focus on her role anyways. Her focus is more on her dancing, and with the style of dance she performs being much more lively and energetic (compared to Azura’s focus on being slow, fluid and graceful), she’s very swift in general.

Chrom / + Res - Atk = He’s... he’s being helpful... orz... 

More seriously, his attack strength dulled heavier than other Chroms to a point it reflects on his health from his grief, intense stress, and initially not taking the best care of himself past his incredibly strong will remaining fortified. However, as he had been training and exercising regularly, and mindful for Sparrow’s care alongside his, this is why only his raw attack power was the most affected, in comparison to his health in totality.

Kamui / + Atk - Def = Tiny but bitey. Compared to his older brothers, Ryoma and Xander, he’s scrawny, small, and looks about as easily squishable as he is. However, he strikes hard and true with his sword, and just as ferociously if not moreso as a dragon. 

Lifonse / Neutral = Much like how he was when he was fully Alfonse originally, he is trained to be balanced without having any true definite weak areas, but also not really any major strong points either (unlike Lif, who found his own niche as he became more battle-hardened under grueling circumstances).

Random Yugioh ideas/headcanons/au’s and basically things I just usually consider when writing them or ideas I had, mostly the Bakura’s and Ishtar’s Names used for yami’s and Hikari’s: Ryou (Hikari), Bakura (Yami Bakura), Thief (Thief King Bakura), Malik (Hikari), Tau (Yami Marik), Yuugi (Hikari), Yami (Yami Yuugi), Atemu (The pharaoh) Under the cut

if twins the Yami’s are the younger twins not the Hikari’s and usually Malik and Tau (Yami Marik) are usually the youngest despite being tallest. Yami isn’t necessarily always Yuugi’s twin, their the same age but Yuugi’s still just older and they found Yami one day either by him just showing up and them taking him in, or him being taken to Grandpa’s shop by someone who assumes the quiet boy is Yuugi

Thief (Thief King Bakura) is a huge family man, he’s ultra friendly, fluffy, happy and everything else. He’ll definitely hug you and befriend you. He’ll call you little brother or sister or just count you as family regardless, and whilst he holds a large section within himself full of hurt, hatred and everything else. And if he lets it out, you’ll definitely need damage control, so never hurt his family. He’ll be after you and you’ll regret even crossing him. He’s kinda short so it’s easy to just look past him, but he will not lose his second family, he will not allow that to happen. He’s absolutely terrifying when he desires to be, it’s hard to believe sometimes but his friends/family know better

Tau (Yami Marik) is a selective mute, it depends on the situation. (Au wise.) But most part its because of childhood trauma thinking his voice is demonic somewhat, but he’ll talk to you, its just more —more exclusive who he’ll talk to, or in another situation its because he wants to try being whole and in a way hearing his own voice, makes him kinda still feel apart of Malik. Either way he’ll only talk to you if he’s comfortable, otherwise he’ll write, ignore or sign to you. When he does speak, his voice is like venom, it’s always deep and somewhat scary/pissed off sounding or he has a smug amused tone he can use

Tau called Malik’s father Daddy, because the man was so formal, he knew it was damn childish. But it sure enough was a good blow to the man who desired to be called nothing less than father by his children and Master by Rishid (Rishid’s too good for him anyway). So Tau goes around calling him Daddy in the most cutesy childlike tone he can muster. He does so out of mere habit even years after killing the guy

Like Tau Yami (Yami Yuugi) is often silent, he’ll talk a lot to Yuugi. More so than anyone, and he’ll definitely speak up if someone needs defending. He’ll fight for the side he regards are right or for friends. However most times he only otherwise speaks to say things he finds absolutely important to do so, or ask an odd question now and again just about life, Bakura (Yami Bakura) can usually stir up an argument though

If Malik and Tau are twins, and both receive the initiation, unlike Malik, Tau gets demonic wings instead of angel ones

Tau has little to no interest in sex -sorry to people who write him purely as something that just really wants to sleep with Ryou or someone. I think he has more important things to him he needs to think about. Like firstly learning to move on from hate and become a whole person, learning to trust, learning basic human touch, he would much rather what people probably call vanilla things, holding his hand as you walk, leaning on him in movies, sleeping beside him in bed (this one is important because sleep is one of the most vulnerable states a person has and your trusting him), just trusting him, giving the benefit of the doubt, it confuses him but he just adores it. Surprisingly to most, these days when there’s no giant revenge scheme going on he actually really really enjoys the mundane things of life and finally receiving the love and care no one offered him in the first place

Tau changes his name a lot, he’s often concerns himself with being Malik, he does not  want to be Malik. Not any more. He’ll let you know when he changes it, sometimes the name can last nothing more then that day, other times it can last months. There’s still one he usually circles back to regardless of all this and most times if others know he’s chosen a name he wants for a while they are more than willing to help him with getting it legally changed regardless of  the amount of times they do it

Bakura/Thief have a motherly tendency/urge, Ryou is pretty caring in the sense he can play nurse, but Bakura/Thief have a strong protect my children type thing. They’ll make sure your fed, shower, do your teeth, get some sleep (they were bad at first because they forgot how much sleep someone should get), but all those basic things

Art wise: Ryou: He’s better at writing stories, and draws a chibi like thing now and again Bakura: He draws stick figures, and can’t draw well at all. He gets paint everywhere humanly possible but loves it and is slowly improving Thief: He does either complex Egyptian stuff or finger painting. No in between Malik: Prefers to take photos of other things Tau: He’s basically a professional, mostly avoids too much realism and goes more Manga style. It started as an anger management activity but he found he actually quite enjoyed it and it allowed him to express himself better

Bakura wears hearing aid’s (Au) I don’t really have a reason for why. I just started writing him with bad hearing and I incorporate into their backstory, so Ryou/Bakura’s Mum was completely deaf and thus didn’t hear the horn or any warnings and died in a car accident with Amane. Bakura’s not deaf completely but he does need hearing aids for the rest of his life and he can struggle hearing things too softly spoken or farther away sometimes

Malik is actually very camera shy. He loves taking photos of life to capture everything he was missing out on in childhood on film to keep forever. Except he hates to be in photos himself, he’ll avoid it if humanly possible. I think so because he always hid behind everyone to the very end of his arc, behind each of his minions and then just in the back of others minds, behind his brother and his Yami, stood behind the group going to the last duel, you know? (I mean he was trying to blend in the background during Rishid’s duel but I also don’t think despite his fashion he’s actually a very showy person, he enjoys being dramatic and such but can get put off by too large of crowds. I think this is slightly related to just his upbringing, he was brought up with just his family. So whilst he has a powerful personality, so many people can still be a concern to him. He just tries to not let it get in his way too much if plausible)

Bakura and Malik rely on each other for comfort more than anything just finally having someone there by their sides who has a great pain, something no one will probably ever fully understand. And they can talk about it the other will listen without hesitation, but they also understand you don’t always have to say something

Malik isn’t keen on horror, he’s low key traumatised from flashes of his fathers murder and his back, he respects others like it and can put up to it til a point and jokes about similar things but otherwise he’d prefer not to watch it if possible

Malik and Tau prefer cartoons over realism, it’s easier to understand and just more comforting, even if people comment their watching things way too young for them. F*** those people, they can watch what ever they want

Meat actually makes Malik and Tau sick from the lack of it in their diet so they don’t eat it purely on that basis and that’s how they grew up. No other reasoning behind it

Malik is actually stronger than Yami Marik, and as a villain he actually is one that has the support of family and friends to support this. Just hear me out on the strength thing, sure Tau takes over when he’s mentally torn and worn out. That’s because Malik’s in fact at his worse, usually he’s able to keep Tau locked away within him, so in a fight I do believe Malik would win even if I think Tau would have more visible muscle. Tau’s more about mind games and tricks to assist him

Also Yuugi is stronger than people give him credit for. He may be small and look a tad squishable. But remember he was in a burning building struggling between completing the puzzle, pulling the puzzle, holding onto it whilst his two friends one of which use to  be in a gang pulled him desperately from it and he wouldn’t let go. They actually decided they had a better shot of pulling the metal spike out of the concrete or whatever that thing was made from then they did removing an almost passed out Yuugi from his puzzle. So I’d say Yuugi’s pretty damn strong

Hiroto and Ryuji fight over girls constantly but they are basically together and this is just them trying to flirt. Truthfully they can only flirt on those they aren’t actually interested in, they’re masters until it’s someone they like like and then it’s like c*** what do I do which is how they get with each other

Thief is the king of pick up lines, puns, flirting in general. Where Atemu can’t flirt to save his life and he tries hard but its barely recognisable and he almost always screws it up. Thief finds it amusing and loves that he tries. However on the other spectrum. They’ve been dating and living together for like a year now and Thief only just figured out because they were on a date and he said they should go on a date sometime. They’ve been acting as an exclusive couple up til this point, he just honestly didn’t notice it just enjoying the ride

despite dating and Thief going as far as to call Atemu his future hubby before they even get engaged. Sometimes Thief admits that a large part deep within him will always somewhat hate Atemu, and blame him. He’s tried moving on but sometimes it can just fire up. They don’t always talk about it sometimes they don’t just talk and merely sit together or sometimes he just gets upset and Atemu tries to just be there. Not always try to understand or even offer pointless advice more so just be there for Thief regardless And thief will also admit, sometimes he avoids saying Atemu’s name using all his childish nicknames he can make up because of their history. And sometimes even the  name can just bring all that back up for him. He truly loves Atemu and it does make him feel guilty or upset but Atemu always reassures him its ok to feel the way he does Just a little bonus note: Thief’s death pack on Atemu has changed, he still declares if Atemu’s to be killed, he’ll be the one to do it. But now more so its, we’ll be together til death does us part and even then he promises Atemu he’ll never be able to get rid of him

Mai is Jonouchi’s big sister (Adopted). She took him in as her little brother and Serenity. They often fight over what’s on tv and she shows Serenity how to put on make-up and perfumes. Goes clothes shopping and stuff. She had a big house growing up but no one to share it with, but now she may not have as big as place but she’s got a proper family

Ryou’s Dad Hideki is the king of dad jokes

Whilst Amane was still alive and a baby, Ryou excitedly took her into school for show and tell. He was really proud of his sister from the day she was born and wanted all to see. In saying that he was protective of her with others, when anyone was around his little sister he was ensuring to watch them with her even falling over a few times from leaning too far to keep an eye on them

Bakura always makes friends by pure accident and he doesn’t realise for ages. Then he freaks out about it. Because. How. When why. What the. But then their his and they are never gonna go anywhere.  That or if its where he shares a body with Ryou he does it originally for his own cover, but then after time he starts just going there in general and before he knows it and yes he doesn’t know it he’s friends with the lot of them. Plus sometimes Ryou just taps out with them and at first he got irritated because he didn’t want to deal with that but he doesn’t remember at what point he stopped even noticing if anything it made him happy When he realises he has a huge c*** moment and just takes a few days to process and figure it out in his head

Au Thief, his village did burn down or everyone was killed regardless. He’s still the soul survivor, and going to another town no one knows exactly what to do with him. But they figure out he had an Uncle currently in Egypt. So he’s taken to him, Hideki Bakura. An archaeologist. Hideki takes him back to Japan to meet his other two sons Ryou and Bakura, who he acts as an older brother too now

Thief and Atemu are mostly the shortest, however instead in Au’s. Their usually Yuugi and Ryou’s cousins who had to move in due to other things back home

When Ishizu tries to display things from their home, at the museum. Malik and Tau constantly steal them. With the excuse. ‘It was mine first and you stole it from me.’

Bakura’s first name is Florence, and no. This has nothing. NOTHING. To do with the abridged series. Its just his name, he got it from his mother. It was a family name and whilst he often hates it and loves Japan because you can use your last name without question. But no matter how many times he fills the paper work out to change it. He never does, he can’t. Deep down its apart of him and he actually does want to keep it. He likes it. People he’s close to can call him Florence or Flow for short (or Thief calls him Flow Flow)

Yuugi and Bakura like doing puzzles together it’s oddly calming and allows Bakura time to nut out his own thoughts and if either one wishes to speak they are both open minded to what is being said. They listen to piano music a lot during this time

Bakura hates to admit it but he actually really enjoys the mundane things, cooking, doing the washing, things that just remind him he’s alive

When Tau can’t express himself, emotionally or otherwise. Too frustrated or anything like that, he often draws animals to represent people finding it easier to explain that way rather than words, he’s a lion, Ryou’s a bunny, Malik a fox, Bakura a cat, etc. I kinda imagine him drawing them a bit like how they look in Kamy’s animal au. So others know to look for them in his books and if the lion ever looks down it's a good time to start trying to comfort him. Since he’s not always the best and expressing himself verbally he’ll scream maybe but otherwise he often keeps it bottled up somewhat like Malik did when he created him. So Ryou and such know to look at how the lions doing in his books because if its not doing well something might be wrong

Bakura, Yami (Yami Yuugi), Tau, Atemu, Thief and Malik were confused as frig when they were introduced to video games but after learning about them they are get every possible console to play them, in group games like Mario Kart and such, Bakura and Thief might stand in front of Yami or Atemu whilst playing or put his hands out, Malik pokes out his tongue. Thief can not sit still, sure he does try to get in Atemu and Yami’s way, but he still doesn’t always do so on purpose, he jumps up and kicks out, gets on the edge of his seat, jumps off the couch everything. Malik will talk and yell at the game and has been known between him and Tau to throw their controllers at the screen

Ryou gets sea sick easily, Bakura’s really confused at first when he jumps on a boat in Ryou’s body, he’s basically sick the entire time and from then on he knew to take the pills

Malik and Tau can’t swallow pills. They just can’t, they try really hard but their unable to force themselves to swallow and spit them out time and time again, they even try the hide it in your food and it doesn’t work

Thief is a neat freak, and he cleans when he’s pissed off these days. And since all his  things are clean and in place he’ll break into his ‘friends’ places and clean and if someone’s home, he’ll rant to them. Atemu often makes a tea and just sits nodding. Whereas others like Bakura, Tau and such will purposefully make messes as he tries to clean so its a contest if they can mess it up faster then he can clean it Malik tells him off for touching his garage because it may look like a mess and sure it probably was but thats how he wanted it and he knew where his things were. Malik made a wall of people not allowed to  clean it has two things under it, a note saying ‘ANYONE WHO IS NOT ME MALIK ISHTAR’ and then a photo of Thief which he wrote ‘ESPECIALLY YOU’ beneath beside the note

Diabound is kinda like a vampire, because whilst yes he’s a snake man he’s a snake so  your telling me won’t bite anyone, he can fly and instead of turning into a bat he turns into a white snake and slithers up you the hugs warmly around your shoulders as he gets ready to bite (Not really a- anything? Just something I thought about kinda just figured I’d throw it on the end because why not?)

FINALLY here’s a little summary of my short week in Wales that I spent with @cyborging and her mum:

The flight was awesome! Eurowings is actually a great airline to fly with and I even got a snack and a drink which was nice and I WAS SO NERVOUS

Manchester airport is a mess though. It was a mess when I arrived and it was a mess when I left but iT WAS WORTH IT because I finally got to hug Shelby. Lemme tell you, she’s the cutest thing and I wanted to squish her face 24/7! Her mum is amazing as well, I could honestly tell how much she cares about Shelby which really tugged at my heartstrings because Shelby deserves a great mum like that! She was also a bit of a mum to me during that week and I appreciate her lot I hope she knows that, I really wasn’t that good with words during that time. THEY BOTH TRIED TO SPEAK ALL POSH SO I WOULD UNDERSTAND THEM BUT I’M A DUMBASS!!!

EVERYTHING WAS JUST SO PRETTY!!

On wednesday Shelby took me to Chester and I almost got a tattoo! It’s so weird to go to a country where they actually do “walk-ins” - like, in germany you have to wait for MONTHS to get an appointment, sometimes even years. At least then you know you really want it. Since I’m going to Dublin next month I’ll see if I can get it done there. I didn’t do it in Chester because that tattoo studio didn’t look very professional, it was more like a mcdonald’s drive-thru but for tattoos.

We even went to the cathedral and it was a really pretty one!

And this is by far the coolest wishing well ever, with mermaid jesus or whatever :’D In the bowl there were quite a lot of coins already and Shelby and I tried to hit it, too. She got pretty close but MY aim was just TERRIBLE, I was so embarrassed. Let’s move on then pfffh.

idk I just thought that was funny ahahaha. Almost as funny as “poundland” which is only funny to me I guess because it’s new to me. It sounds like the name of a porn website

And we bought matching Grantaire/Enjolras sweaters!

This is me and Shelby SHE’S THE CUTEST with her squishable face - and she smelled good, too xD Honestly, she’s a joy to be around.

Wednesday morning I went for a run because I was getting restless (I was kinda surprised how my RLS started to act up after two days already?) and the place Shelby lives at really felt familiar, there wasn’t that much of a difference compared to back home. I thought I could just run in circles so I wouldn’t get lost but iT’S DEAD ENDS EVERYWHERE. Devil-town.

AND THEN. ON THURSDAY. WE WENT TO HOLMES CHAPEL, THE FUCKING PLACE HARRY STYLES GREW UP AT. And that’s the fucking bakery he worked at. I cannot believe I was THERE.

(I wrote a letter to harry last year and carried it everywhere, I swear. I left it in the bakery and hopefully no one will ever find it)

I spent £20 there and feel like I blundered quite a lot. A woman offered to let me pass the queue and idk I probably should’ve declined but I was a nervous wreck with tons of jam in my arms and a fucking wooden SPOON and CANDY and A BAG and then I also wanted to buy some cake so yeah I took that fucking offer xD

But the lady behind the counter (She was the one in the 1D movie who hugged harry and touched his bum) looked at me like a disappointed grandma and then she was super slow at packing all my stuff and kept putting it into EXTRA BAGS and I was so embarrassed because the place was PACKED and I swear my face was burning up and my hands were cold and shaking.

BUT... I survived, thank you very much.

After that we went to that viaduct were Harry put his name on the wall. Since we didn’t know how exactly to get there we just took a picture from afar, haha.

And that’s me. Wow, I was really wearing red on pink, what waS I THINKING??? (I still look great though)

Later that day Shelby’s mum cooked some amazing food with roasted potatoes and cauliflower and chicken and THE GRAVY WAS SO GOOD. I was in heaven, I swear. I don’t have food that delicious at home because I NEVER COOK, I’m too lazy.

Friday morning started with #spongecakegate

and then we watched “to all the boys I’ve loved before” and the last few episodes of “switched” and I didn’t even want to think about leaving, I would’ve loved to stay for another few weeks (OR MONTHS) but I had to :(

I was honestly quite surprised that I didn’t cry all week? I’m such an emotional person but it’s like I was buzzing all the way through and just so happy and overwhelmed I couldn’t cry at ALL. Guess what though, when I (finally, after a lot of delays) got on the plane and it took off I burst into actual fuckiing tears. This whole week was beginning to sink in and I was bawling my eyes out, the stewardess was quite concerned pffhh. Sorry.

All in all I had so much fun and I felt so comfortable and at home, I can’t even begin to express how grateful I am and how much I love Shelby and her mum ;;____;;

Gel Ice Pack - Daiso, $2.80 AUD.

I found these on an endcap display at Daiso Highpoint, the packs available in several different styles and colours--some shaped like objects, others just a rectangle printed with text and images.

I’ll note that there is no reference on the pack to heating instructions, so I believe this is the sort only intended for cooling via freezer. The pack did have a lot of text about not touching the frozen pack directly with fingers, and I don’t know how hard the gel freezes, so this should be handled with the usual caution of which we handle anything that’s frozen. I’ll be honest: I didn’t buy this for stimming via temperature, but for its squishability.

Because this is the most wonderful thing to squish. For me, it’s like what a water wriggly worm is trying to be but isn’t. The plastic isn’t sticky or slippery, and the gel is dense enough to offer a little resistance. The plastic is a thick, clear vinyl, which doesn’t creak when pushed and only makes a slight rustling sound. If you don’t scrunch the pack, it’s almost absolutely silent. Some care, of course, is involved in these sorts of toys, as you don’t want to subject them to too much force for fear of splitting, and I’d be careful how you package them if you put them in a bag or box.

The only problem is that the pack does have that musty-smelling vinyl smell, the kind sometimes associated with various additives to plastics. (The instructions on the package also say that this gel pack shouldn’t come into direct contact with food, which is another indication of this.) The smell may be a problem for some, as it’s quite strong, and I recommend washing hands after using this toy (especially before eating), which is a good practice when using any toys made from unknown plastics.

The gel squishiness, though, is unmatched by anything else in my stim kit, and for folks wanting a variety of different squishable toys or gel toys, they’re worth checking out.

Cutie Reviews: YumeTwins May 19

It’s technically a day later, but I had intended on writing this all of Sunday but I was in such a poor mood that every time I tried I kept walking away after being unable to focus. But I've calmed down and I’m ready to get this started!

Furry Friends Floor Mat

I chose this item first because some of you you might recognize it; I’ve already gotten one from some boxes ago. I won’t be reviewing it, but I will mention that this item was a variety one; so it’s only coincidental I got it again- out of 15 possible carpets. They’re 45 x 45cm and made out of 100% cotton.

The carpet is very cute and a bit fluffy, it feels really nice to step on, and in a way it’s nice I have two, because I could put them by multiple doors if I wanted. Or if one gets ruined by some freak incident, I have a back up.

Gudetama Facial Sponge & Kirby Bath Bomb

Next up is another item I won’t be full reviewing, because again, I get konjac sponges pretty often in these boxes (usually from NMNL or KiraKira). They’re all the same, but what makes this one cunique is that it’s shaped like an egg for Gudetama~

For anyone unfamiliar, Konjac is an “asian potato“ essentially, it’s frequently used as a sponge that helps remove dirt and dead skin cells and comes in various forms. All you need to do is wet it once to use it, then you scrub away the icks from a long day.

Our first real review-able item is this adorable Kirby Bath Bomb, which came in 2 variants, series 1 featuring a flowery-scented yellow bath bomb, or series 2, which featured a pretty pink bath bomb. Each series has their own set of prizes, including a mystery one.

This was also a small part of why I took so long to do this; I don’t like wasting bath bombs so I thought “well what can I do with it so that it still gets used? I already took a shower.“ Then it hit me! I decided that because my feet have been sore recently, I’d try to soak them with it. So I did that, and honestly it felt really good- I think I’ll be doing it more often :P

Anyway, this is the Kirby I got. Cute little guy isn’t he ♥

The bath bomb smells really good, initially I thought it might have been a citrus scent but the more I smelled it, the more it seemed to transform to floral. I really like it though and my skin that made contact with it is very smooth and soft.  There’s also no staining at all, but because I got the yellow one I’m not sure if the same applies to the pink.

The next time you’re not sure what to do with a bath bomb I’d recommend using it the way I did :3 it feels really nice~

Chibi Animal Plushie

This is our next item, an ultra-kawaii animal plushie! There was 12 different animals we could cute, including panda’s in this style, some sleepy hamsters and other critters, bunnies, kitties, and more!

I think I definitely got one of the “winners“, it was love at first sight for us~ ♥

Peach really liked it too. But I think she just wanted the bag :x

The plush is very squishy soft, one of those mochi-marshmallow types. It’s a little stretchy and very smooshy. It also has an adorable pink button (which you can barely make out in the above picture).

Putting aside my overwhelming love for it, the plush is also made very well. I didn’t notice any signs of problem with the material or stitching, it’s very sweet.

Sanrio Toothbrush

To go with our theme of self-pampering and relaxation, we also got an adorable Sanrio-themed toothbrush to look forward to. It was available in 5 different designs, each featuring Sanrio’s popular mascots and pink bristles at the center of the brush; a very cute touch I thought ♥

As you can see, I got Little Twin Stars, or Kiki and Lala, however you want to refer to them.

Review: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ 

I don’t really have too much to say about it. It’s a brush. I had been wanting to get a new one and it’s length is really nice. I didn’t make too much of a mess using it, and the bristles aren’t rock hard and rough in the mouth, they feel pretty good. There is also a circle of dots to place your thumb while using it.

Kawaii Glue Stick

Our last item takes the form of creative self-care; for those of us who like to make crafts or need to seal something. But before I get into this, I have a little story for you all...

It took me FOREVER to figure out how to open this! When I got the box I kept yanking and tugging on it, thinking it opened like a normal glue stick, then I tried twisting. I had no idea what to do. I gave up, and so when I took the pictures I decided to pull off the tape/design wrapped around the tube to find nothing. I had tried twisting the bottom a few times, the piece that lengthens the glue stick but nothing happened- until I realize you need to pull and twist!

So yeah, that was not fun at all, and there was no instructions to point this out. Anyway it came in 4 different designs, from unicorns to cutesy drinks to random animals.

As much of a struggle as it gave me, it does its job. It works well and because of its unique scare shape, it seems to do really well with precision, but I feel like it’s still the same as using a normal glue stick.

Content - 4.5 out of 5. I knocked down a point over the glue stick because that thing really honked me off. They should have said how to open it or put something on it, now mine looks completely trashed. But it’s still usable. Everything otherwise had great quality and I liked the items a lot. I also loved how nearly everything had variety and is practical!

Theme: ??? out of 5. Once again I was kinda conflicted over this, only because I do see the theme a bit, because yeah, a few of the items can get bubbly/foamy and bring comfort, and all the items do have a sort of fantasy design or feature to them. The Yume Prize also fit it I thought. I wasn’t really sure how to rate this one...

Total Rank: 10 out of 10. I love it when the box brings in a fun, unique mix with each box. But sometimes they’re either really good or sometimes they’re not my favorite. I really liked this one because the mix was different, especially since we normally don’t get things like health and beauty related items in this one- if we do it’s pretty rare. I feel pretty comforted with the box and its practically a good choice in my opinion. I’d recommend this one.

1. Chibi Animal Plushie - All of them were adorable but besides the pink panda, I think this would have been the one I wanted the most! I’m very happy I got it, I think I’ll name it Cotton Candy x3

2. Kirby Bath Bomb - The packaging is so colorful and cute, and my little kirby is adorable. It’s a very hard, barely squishable rubber material but I love it~

3. Sanrio Toothbrush - I like it’s white and pastel color scheme, and the pink bristles just make it fun. Like I said, I was planning on getting a new brush so this saved me some money.

4. Glue Stick - It will come in handy since I don’t really have any other glue right away. It’s cuteness factor was kind of ruined by my curiosity in trying to open it, but you win some lose some right? 

5. Gudetama Sponge - It’s just like any other konjac sponge, and I already have one open so I didn’t need to use it yet. But the egg shape is kinda cute...

6. Floor Mat - It’s cute but was a little disappointed I got the exact same one as before from a prior box. But it was a Doki Doki box rather than YumeTwins so that lessens that a little bit. It will come in handy though so I don’t dislike the item.

8. 15 in the morning and I just thought this up. Dude, she knows he has these things without staring. And trust me, she hates staring at anything waist down. She knows he has a butt and genitals, she does not need to dour check every day that they're still there. And how does she know? Because when she was three she accidently walked into the bathroom whilst he was urinating and that was the most disturbing thing that everyone but herself has forgotten (it traumatised her). And remember chapter 11 when Noct was sleeping shirtless? She was neigh surprised to see he had fine arm muscles - butch is def not her style,sorry Gladio but we know you have a crush on her and her sister, we know. Heck, she doesn't even have to see them. Remember, he's hugged her when she's been down since,ike, day 1. And just sleep in b in his arms means she can feel dem muscles. Because he has more than her (dude, looking at her you would not believe that her arm even has muscle. So Noct us hella surprised to feel muscle when he squishes her arm at her surprise to have any, the dorks). About the only thing she is surprised with, is that he also has leg muscles (which she finds out when she's helping out his leg after an evil sahagin tried ripping it off) and she loves them as her pillow if his chest needs a lite bit of space (because the way I fight means he's getting chucked all over the place). But most of all, she just doesn't care that he's muscular but not to the point if Gladio's beef, because she's knows howuch effort he had to go through to even get the smallest amount (we can assume he's been training for 12 or 11 years - Reggie probs didn't want him to start until later but daemon attacks changes everything) and she's noticed the gradual change. She puts two and two together and forms an answer and, really, feeling safe but not squished is her motto. Hence she never let's Gladio hug her. Because she is rather squishable. @jojopitcher I have no idea but here. Hope this makes ya laugh XD

Illuminae --Honest Review

[Warning: I give an honest review that focuses not only on plot, but on writing and character as well. As this is an opinion, you can take it as seriously as you want, but understand that my goal is to review, not to shame or praise the author.]

Alright, let me just say, if you haven’t read this book, then you’re missing out. No joke, this book blew me away and sometimes I’m just speechless at how incredible this book is. 

So what would I review this as? 10/10. 

Now you might think, “oh, she’s just being biased because she loves the book and this is just another fangirl squealing about a book”, but I’m gonna say it right now, that’s not the reason why I rated it a 10/10. Yes, I personally LOVED this book and it’s now officially one of my favorites, but I prefer to judge them more on character, plot, writing, and character evolvement. 

So as of this point, everything you’re going to read here is gonna have spoilers. I’m sorry, typically I wouldn’t do this as I want to pull away from spoiling people, but I can’t break down the book into what makes it amazing without spoiling anything. So for those who really want to read the book, DON’T CONTINUE READING. JUST GO BUY IT, READ IT, AND THEN COME BACK AND READ THIS. 

Alright, so starting off, one of the major things that you notice reading this, is the style of how it’s written. And the style, bless the author’s hearts for being so bloody genius when they were creating this, is absolutely breathtaking. It works so well, everything just fits together like a puzzle piece yet it’s intriguing and creative and fun to read at the same time. (If you have a friend/family member who struggles with reading I would suggest this book to them as it is so easy to read.) The style that the authors have created is, frankly, masterful. I would even dare to say that this could be a genre in and of itself because that’s how different and how wonderful it is. (I would even call some parts visual poetry as it was absolutely beautiful to read.) 

Before I get to plot I really want to talk about the characters first as they are what makes this book truly special. 

Starting off with Kady, I found that she was a relatable character, questioning authority but doing it smartly, and not being able to ignore the problems that go on around her. Just like most people, she portrays herself as apathetic while secretly caring about all the people around her, and taking note of the people that she has lost while at the same time, carrying on. For a girl that started off as what I would think as a typical dystopian heroine, she quickly evolves into so much more and her character arc is amazing to see the kind of progress she has as she changes into a somewhat, self-serving and self-focused individual to saving almost half the crew on the Alexander. 

Ezra himself has an incredible character arc too. Once again, I see him established as a typical dystopian boy who challenges authority and is a little cocky, but by the end of it, I’m seeing him as a flower child who is only soft and in need of many hugs. (Seriously, how does someone go from cocky, clumsy fighter pilot to loveable, squishable cuttie?  I don’t know but they did it.)

Even Aiden, the computer AI evolves as a character. LITERALLY EVERY ONE OF THESE PEOPLE HAVE GOOD, WELL WRITTEN CHARACTER ARCS. EVEN THE SIDE CHARACTERS. (I also wanted to point out that their ability to turn a mass-murdering AI into a character that I love is beyond believable. Their ability to write Aiden from a neutral evil to an unlawful good is beyond me. The authors deserve a gold star for that alone.)

Moving to the plot, (*internally laughs as I say to myself ‘and the plot thickens*) the concepts in this book were REALLY thought out. The political scandals, matched with a pair of lovers who fell apart only to fall back together, tied together with a AI that only wants to save humans like he was programmed to do, topped with the bests and the worsts of humanity, and with a sprinkle of chill-inducing zombie action, this book was definitely well planned. Everything worked together and the plot twist with Aiden through me for a huge loop that I 100% DID NOT see coming. (Which should tell you just how incredible this book is as most plot twists are fairly obvious before they happen.) 

So why did I score it a 10/10? Because of the characters, because of the woven, overlayed and well-thought-out plot, because of their medium, and because of their character arcs. Yes, this book has pretty much anything or anyone could ask for. I doubt that I’ll find a book that I can rate as a 10/10 again for a long time, but that only means that this book was THAT GOOD.

hey! mods get a lot of asks so feel free to ignore, but lately ive been really stressed out and my need to sensory input skyrocketed. i really like soft things, and rn for that i have a minky blanket and a cat that i love to pet, but ive been looking for public acceptable soft textured stims. do you have any suggestions?

There’s a lot of asks, yes, but I don’t want to ignore anything, so if folks don’t mind waiting a bit or a lot, I promise we’ll get to it eventually. I mean, people are asking under the belief that we can help (or try to help) so to ignore that, I think, would be a disservice to the people who support us. Not to mention the fact that I’d be surprised if there isn’t at least one other person who is helped out by someone who asks and gets an answer, no matter how odd or unnecessary the ask might seem. Informative posts help people know something exists; asks often ask me to put together toys by category or need, or provide care/safety information, all things posts about a cute squishy or a sale Tangle don’t accomplish. So to me, anyway, they’re pretty important!

I’ve actually got quite a lot of soft textured sims, some small enough to hide in a coat pocket or handbag/satchel, some that won’t draw too much attention and some that don’t even look like stim toys:

Subtle/Easily Hidden Toys:

- Keychains (Fluffy, Pompom, Plush, Tassel): These are the biggest in “stimmy objects attached to a bag or satchel that nobody will consider an obvious stim” toys. If you choose more muted colours, especially if you’re female, feminine or seen as female by society, nobody will think anything of these: I’ve seen plenty of professional-appearing women with a dark pompom keychain attached to their handbags. If you’re a little quirky, punk, goth, counter-culture or unconventional, you can get away with any colour and style you like without anyone realising what they’re actually for.

Try the accessories sections of department stores (K-Mart, Target) and accessories stores (Claire’s, Lovisa) as well as markets (Queen Victoria Market) for the more unusual and funky items. There’s all sorts of things on eBay (none of them expensive) under the search plush keychain.

- Purses and Pouches: again, it helps to be a little unconventional here, since most of the really stimmy ones tend to be brightly coloured. I’ve got two very soft plush coin-style purses shaped like a frog head and a watermelon slice; I’ve also got a chenille coin purse with all the lovely fronds for running hands through.

I’ve seen the plush pouches/purses in K-Mart and Daiso, so again think the accessory sections of department stores. Or you can try eBay under the search plush coin purse, as there’s loads of awesome purses for $2 USD or less. The chenille ones are harder to find, but I’ve seen the Yoobi-branded ones here in Officeworks and they’ve been found in the US, I believe, at Target.

- Makeup Blending Sponges: soft but with a little cellulose-like texture. Available in most department stores. You might not want to be seen holding this, but they easily fit into a coat pocket or bag.

(I also glued two makeup sponges together around a slide clip to make a crackling squishy, as in this tutorial you sent in to us, and sewed the sponges into a small flannelette bag, making a tiny, fabric-textured cracking squishy - the purple star-print rectangle in the photo above.)

- Disney Mini Tsum Tsum Plush: soft, has a variety of gentle textures, readily squishable, available at Target and Disney Stores. Also easily hidden in a coat pocket or bag, and I should know, because I have one in my satchel that’s easily stimmed with just by sliding a hand inside said satchel.

(There’s a lot of similar mini plushies as well - you might prefer Puchimaru, Teeny Tys or any of the handmade plush toys made by many of the autistic crafters on this list.)

- Crocheted Stress Ball: the crocheted thread is soft and non-scratchy, and the ball easily slips into a pocket. This is a noisy toy, though, as the ball contains crinkle paper, so for this reason it’s not terribly stealth. The best place I know for purchasing these for non-Australians is Stimtastic.

- Mini Bean Bags: can be made from flannelette, fleece, minky fleece, faux fur. Anything soft and strokeable. If you’re DIYing this or ordering it (several of the sellers on our autistic crafters list make these sorts of bean bags) just have it made small enough to fit in a pocket.

(Note: you can also buy small pieces of these fabrics from a craft store like Lincraft or Spotlight, cut them up into portable swatches and keep a piece in your pocket or bag. You can hem or blanket stitch the edges for neatness, but it isn’t required, and it gives you something soft to stroke, like a minky blanket, wherever you are.)

Less Subtle/More Obvious Toys:

- Tangle Jr Fuzzy: this one really isn’t subtle, but for soft texture seekers, they’re absolutely divine. You will look like you’re stimming (although for some reason, nobody has commented when I use a Tangle on the bus, as opposed to other toys) but they’re too perfect for the soft aspect of this ask for me to ignore them. They’re still easily carried in a pocket or bag, though!

- Marble Maze and Marble Loops: made from flannelette, they’re absolutely wonderful just for stroking, and I make this even better by using a layer of minky fleece for the back. Again, you will look like you’re stimming, but even out and about there’s usually places where you can pull out a toy for private stimming/calming, and the maze can easily be folded up to fit in a pocket. The loop, being much smaller, is far more subtle and even easier to keep on your person.

I hope this gives you some ideas, @abandonedshops, and if anyone has any ideas that I’ve forgotten to include, please comment away!
