Men who are quick to choose the blade over anything else. They’re masters in combat, known for their savagery and anger. Many end up being leaders in battle; generals, knights, and some hate being around others. The variants and sons of Ares/Mars are also known for their short tempers and thirst for blood or to create a name for themselves.

Paris + The Gods
please pretend that it looks like ares is taking the crown from paris instead of giving a crown to paris because having paris actively hand it over didn't work with the rest of the concept for this drawing
also please pretend that it actually looks like aphrodite is leaning over instead of looking like she's the same height as paris - a lot of the shading i used to indicate that she wasn't standing up straight got killed by the glowy hair effects
bonus flats + simpler shading under the cut, bonus ramblings in the tags
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
#paris of troy#aphrodite#apollo#ares#this drawing was inspired by me talking with a friend about the trojan royal family#and realizing that even for someone from a family with a lot of connection to the gods#paris has a *lot* of connection to the gods#i mean the connection to aphrodite should be. obvious#and there's also the story of ares for some reason deciding to enter a bull contest that paris was holding#(for those who aren't aware of this story: ares wins and paris gives him a crown as a prize)#and then paris was skilled with a bow and a lyre which would have been in apollo's domains#and the variant of achilles death i've seen most has apollo working with paris to kill achilles#(which means it was paris who apollo went to avenge hector and also apollo's son(s) that achilles killed)#and paris's first wife was a nymph and his second wife was a demigod#also this is stretching things but you could argue there's something to be said#for how athena - who (according to one account of tiresias's story) had blinded a mortal man for seeing her naked -#and hera - who had reason to not be very fond of trojan princes -#were both willing to accept a mortal trojan prince as their judge#and were both willing to offer up extremely generous rewards#although i do say that that's stretching since you could also just say they both wanted the apple badly enough#to accept the judge and offer up those prizes no matter who the judge was#also it has occured to me that since paris is also called alexander#everyone in this drawing has a name that starts with 'A'#anyway i think the joke i made to my friend is that paris might be godnip#like catnip. but for gods. godnip.#my art

probably overdone but!!!!! foxes and their godly parents
neil: definitely literally without a doubt hermes. his whole thing is literally running (fast, away from his past..etc) andrew + aaron: obvious answer is sons of apollo. blond twins, aaron with his whole medicine thing. andrew because apollo is also the god of truths. alternatively sons of nemesis like goddess of vengeance??? both of them killing each others abusers?? its too good.
kevin: son of nike for sure. like goddess of victory??? literally him. alternatively he could be like the host of thoth or something ik he wld go crazy for all that knowledge.
renee: daughter of iris. idk if i have any other reason than her being associated with rainbows lolll. she definitely talks and prays to hestia too though.
nicky: son of aphrodite. he totally resents the tradition of breaking ppls hearts though. and him being the son of the goddess of love while his parents reject his idea of love is just! so!
allison: daughter of aphrodite too but i feel like she'd have charmspeak. i can lowkey see piper in her.
dan: my girl literally captained the foxes to victory. daughter of athena through and through
matt: i wanna say hermes just because he was neil's roommate when he first came to palmetto + hermes accepting all newcomers and stuff.
seth: ares. idk what else to say
bonus!!!
jean: idk who embodies misery more than my boy jean so maybe akhlys. but also im getting demeter vibes. cant explain why but its there. pegasi also totally love him for some reason.
jeremy: easy answer wld be apollo but consider janus. like god of beginnings?? he manages to separate and hide his past like a little too well. and!!! speaking of beginnings he's part of the reason jean is getting a new beginning as well.
wymack is literally a coach hedge variant.

This tendency I've noticed on theoi.com to attribute parentages to various figures when the sources cited don't support that really irks me. To give just a few examples: Enyo is claimed to be the daughter of Zeus and Hera bassed on one passage where she is merely called the sister of Polemos, Kymopoleia is called a daughter of Poseidon and Amphitrite even though the passage in Hesiod's Theogony that mentions her says only that she was Poseidon's daughter, Lelantos is assumed to be a son of Koios and Phoibe based on speculation on his name but no actual sources to speak of.
And this kind of thing is nowhere near as annoying as their attempts to explain what a particular figure's functions are. Iapetos is "the Titan god of mortality" because checks notes two of his four sons had some involvement in the creation of humans? Please be serious! Lelantos = "god of air, moving unseen and a hunter's skill at stalking prey"? I repeat, god of moving unseen! What does that even mean? How about we acknowledge that sometimes literary characters are just that and aren't in fact the gods of anything in particular (not to mention that this whole X=god of Y is quite reductive and often misleading to begin with)? Don't even get me started on Krios or Pallas or Perses or Eurybia or the other gazillion figures with no presence in cult or in myth beyond perhaps representing a genealogical starting point but who are still claimed to be the deities of this or that. Or what about the associations of the four brothers of Kronos with the four cardinal points based to some extent on the claim that they held Ouranos down while Kronos castrated him, which, aside from the castration part, isn't actually stated anywhere in Greek mythology.
This is why I'll always recommend to steer clear of the interpretations they provide, or at least be extremely cautious of them, and use this site solely for the ancient texts. However, be cautious of those excerpts as well since they can be misleading. I've talked about this particular instance before, but you'll find on there the idea that in Nonnos's Dionysiaca the Charites are the daughters of Dionysos and one Kronois, allegedly a title of Hera which Nonnos turned into a separate figure in order to combine two incompatible variants. In the passage cited on the site the name appears indeed as Kronois, but if you look in the actual text of the Dionysiaca the name is Koronis instead. Similarly, to support the assertion regarding Enyo's parentage, the excerpt from Quintus Smyrnaeus's Posthomerica in which she is called in Greek κασιγνήτη Πολέμοιο is misleadingly rendered as "sister of Ares (War)." However, if one goes to the actual text and checks the passage, one will read "sister of War", so precisely what it says in Greek and no mention of Ares.

Cyrene, Apollo and Ares (and how it was actually only Cyrene and Apollo and Wikipedia is not always a reliable source)
Some of you might know the myth in which Apollo's lover - Cyrene met Ares and had a son named Diomedes (NOT the same guy as Diomedes from Iliad) with him.
Except... she didn't.
When I was researching Cyrene some time ago I realised that her article on Theoi (great source btw) doesn't mention Ares at all. I didn't pay that much attention to this back then, after all, most of the myths have many versions so I assumed that the one with Ares is just less popular one.
I was more preoccupied with the fact that Idmon who I always thought to be Apollo and Cyrene's son was not actually always listed as theirs and had like 5 different variants of parentage.
Let's start with Cyrene's children and why Wikipedia should not be used as a primary source.
Her Personal Information Section on Wikipedia lists 3 children: Aristaeus, Autuchus and Idmon. Later in the Family section it's said that she also had Diomedes with Ares.
For the life of me I could not find anything about Autuchus in the ancient sources BUT I found that Anthocus (which is kinda similar) was the title of Aristaeus and was sometimes mistaken for another son of the pair.
Tumblr media
So likely it is the same mistake.
Aristaeus is also the one who is almost always said to be son of Apollo and Cyrene and both of his parents appear in his myths.
Idmon like I said had many different sets of parents: Apollo and Cyrene, Abas and Cyrene, Apollo and Asteria (NOT the sister of Leto), Apollo and Antianeira, Apollo and Abas (one is bio father, the other is foster father, I think????). He also doesn't have an article on Theoi so reserch on him is going to be a nightmer. 🙃
And now Diomedes
Wikipedia says this
Tumblr media
But does not link any source for this story
What's more: there are sources describing Apollo changing Cyrene into a Nymph and they also don't mention Ares AT ALL. They are also written in a way that suggest that changing her into a Nymph was one of the first things Apollo did after meeting her.
Tumblr media
This doesn't add up with this Ares thing at all.
So where did the Wikipedia article got this Cyrene-fighting-Ares story from? Well, I decided to look into edits history and this section was actually deleted a few months ago with this comment.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My honest reaction to this information: 😐
And then the section was revived for some reason.
But you know when it was first added? 2 years ago.
When did Rick's book about Greek heroes came out? 8 years ago.
So right now Cyrene's Wikipedia article is misleading and contains information from a RETELLING stated as facts.
The only thing I could find that was linking Cyrene with Ares was this:
Tumblr media
and it doesn't even say if this is the same Cyrene. It could be, but we have to remember that in the myths there were like 14 dudes named Abas (and 5 named Idmon while we're at it.)
+this is a very late source compared to all the other Cyrene's myths.
Other source claims that Diomedes' mother was Asterie
Tumblr media
I personaly think those are two different Cyrenes and here's why:
• Cyrene (Apollo's lover) when introduced in the myth is usually accompanied either by her parentage or by some other characteristic like "sheparderss" "huntress" "archeress" "lion slayer" and so on. Cyrene from Ares' myth has nothing to her name which makes me think she was just some random women.
• Non of Cyrene's own myths ever mention Ares (or I couldn't find any), while Apollo is mentioned often.
• Apollo's Cyrene was Thessalian and Diomedes (and therefor his mother likely as well) was Thracian
• There is literally nothing I could find that would suggest that Apollo's Cyrene and Cyrene from Ares myth are the same and since there are many characters in the mythology with the same names (again 14 Abas') labeling these two as one is irrational (Diomedes himself shares the name with one of the Iliad's characters).
Anyway, lesson for today: be careful while reading Wikipedia and always check the sources.
This kinda scares me tbh because how many more of those articles treat retellings as actual sources and were added by fans of the said retellings?
I hope somebody will fix this article because wtf

Some general thoughts on the gods on Troy's side, and why they might be:
Aphrodite: Presumably out of affection for her son, Anchises, and Paris. Very potentially, wanting to assure the gift she's given Paris lasts as long as possible? But if this is a factor, hardly something she is beholden to in any way; it'd probably be more about her own pride in that case. But, given that she also helps protect Hektor's corpse, when he, at least, is no longer able to pay her back for such aid, her affection/aid to the Trojans aren't just for or because of those three.
Apollo: Thetis' warning/prophecy to her son that killing Tennes/a son of Apollo would mean Apollo would kill him (Plutarch, Quaest. Graec. 28, Bibliotethe, Epitome 3.26), then we have Achilles killing Troilus in his sancuary, which would be reason enough on its own but Troilus can also be Apollo's son. There's Apollo so ardently protecting Hektor throughout the war, even/maybe especially after his death (Hektor is also in several sources Apollo's son). Also his relationship with Hecuba and how in Stesichorus he rescues her. (Could also put Kassandra and Helenos here.)
Part of his defense of Troy might be about "fate" and when it's the "proper time" for Troy to fall, but Apollo's ties to Troy/individuals attached to Troy are more deep-set than that. He is the one to punish Neoptolemos' sacrilege of killing Priam at Zeus' altar. Apollo is also rarely present during vase art scenes around the Judgment, potentially connecting to; Apollo specifically being the one to aid Paris (or in some variants, using Paris' shape) to kill Achilles. Real-world wise, the possibility of connecting Apaliuna(s)/Appaluwa as Wilusa/Troy's patron god to Apollo.
Ares: Unstable ally. Hard to say how consistently he is on either side; Athena says he "only yesterday" on the first day of fighting in the Iliad was loudly pledging to Hera and Athena that he'd help the Achaeans.
Perhaps he's been aiding the Trojans more or less secretly/openly throughout the war, as much because he supports whatever side he wishes on a whim as that Aphrodite (and Apollo?) has asked him to. Either way, certainly not as consistent nor out of any particular affection or feeling of protectiveness for the Trojans.
Artemis: "For, in her pity, holy Artemis is angry at the winged hounds of her father, for they sacrifice a wretched timorous thing, together with her young, before she has brought them forth. An abomination to her is the eagles' feast." (Agamemnon, Aeschylus, line 135) ; this is about the eagles and hare omen, which replaces (or in addition to, as this seems to have happened in Mycenae) the snake and sparrows one. Artemis is put forth as unhappy with Troy's (future) fall/the war.
And, it's of course very easy to see the demand for Iphigenia in reparation for Agamemnon's hubris in a similar way, that if he/the army, wants to go off and kill/enslave innocents elsewhere, he/they has to start at home. She may also be helping her brother, and there is the Skamandrios, son of Strophios, who she herself taught to hunt in the Iliad. She has independent connections to Troy, and could be one of the more focused on Trojan deities along with her brother and their mother.
Leto: We have nothing, aside from the fact that she is on the Trojan side with her children in Book 21. But real-world-wise, there's also that Leto was an important goddess on the coast, and in Lycia connected to a Lycian mother goddess. So one could probably make inference for the in-universe reason being as much her siding with her children as that Troy is honouring her (maybe particularly so), along with the rest of the countries on the coast.
Xanthos: intimately woven together with Troy's royal family, as he's married a couple daughters into the line and his (only?) son's daughter married Dardanos.
Zeus: He's technically/actually neutral, a driving force to keep the war going as it "needs to". He's therefore on Troy's side more through the sentiment(s) he expresses or is assigned to him rather than in action.
Particularly so if one turns to the "he planned the war" variants - but these are never about Troy, or Paris, but rather about something much larger than any fault any individual Trojan or Troy has a whole as made themselves guilty of. [Though individual mortals in the Iliad, and in later sources, both tragedies and lyric, will imply that it's Zeus as god of xenia that ensures his working towards Troy's destruction, rather than any plan that has little to do with Troy.]
For his connections to and being for Troy, have Proclus' summary of the Kypria for example, where the plan mentioned at the end is to "relieve the Trojans" specifically, and that phrasing turns Achilles' anger and Zeus acting to fulfil his demands not about Achilles' honour, but about aiding Troy. In Pindar's Paean 6 (fragmentary), Zeus is said to "not dare to change fate [the destruction of Troy]", easily to implicate that he otherwise might, because he would wish to. More important, perhaps, is his statement that Troy is his most favoured city, and how Hera offers up three of her favoured cities for Zeus' one, how he wishes to save Hektor, and the description in the Iliad (by Poseidon) that Dardanos was the/one of the sons [by mortal women, though Elektra couldn't have been that] that he loves the most.

Tolkien Elven Linguistics for Laurelion/Elarion
Digging up my old TDP/Tolkien posts to tag them properly if I'm going to write ANOTHER one and found my initial mention of Laurelion and Laurelin. I'm still personally in favor of interpreting these names through the lens of their Latin roots, but there's that one person who translated Elarion as "Heir of the Stars" in Sindarin and I wanted to see how Laurelion came out, given the same -ion suffix... so I dug up an internet "every language Tolkien made up" dictionary and took a look.
Elarion
Obviously I have to check the reddit rando's work first: yes, el is "star" in basically every elven language (for reasons), and -ion is a suffix that consistently means "son of" or "descendant," used mostly in patronymics, and occasionally as "place of" in naming locations. But that's skipping out on that ar in the middle—ar means "lord" or "noble," particularly as a prefix (Aragorn). There's a similar three-part name in Pelargir, from pel (pen or enclosure), ar, and cir (ships, with the consonant mutation common to Sindarin), so sandwiching ar seems to be valid. It would theoretically get you "child/place of the star-lord," though I think it would be more likely to construct that as arelion, with elarion being "noble child/heir of the star," or if you want the place -ion instead of the person -ion, maybe something like "palace of the star." I don't actually know any grammar, here... but I think the plural form of el is eli, so elar/arel would be singular.
Laurelion
This is a bit simpler, because as in Laurelin (literally "golden song"), laure is just straight-up "gold" in every elven variant. But Laurelin breaks down into laure and lin (song), and it's pretty consistent across all the -ion instances that that if -lion or -rion appear, it's because of being combined with a word finishing in -l or -r. For example, Eldarion from eldar and -ion for "son of the elves star-folk," or Calion from cala/cale and -ion for "son of light." So I don't think we can jump straight to "golden child/heir," and we wouldn't want to... because el means "star." I'm a little surprised Tolkien didn't actually go to laurel as "golden star" but I think he may have been more of a silver stars kinda guy. Anyway, Laurelion could be "child/heir of the golden star."
A Note on El
El does mean "star," but it's specifically an archaic or poetic way of saying it, coming from a root el meaning effectively "lo!" or "behold!" Even in Quenya, the more common form was elen, and Sindarin used gil as the common term for "star" (though retained the archaic el as well). So Laurelion and Elarion both indicate that older word, which is a big HMMMM.
Final Thoughts
Honestly, I think this is like 300% more thought than the writers put into this, and while it does seem highly likely there are some real Tolkien nerds among them... most of the fantasy words in TDP are very Latin-based in a pretty heavy-handed manner. So it seems more likely to me that Elarion and Laurelion are meant to be read with their Latin roots, respectively "joy" and... probably "victory" or whatever, "laurel" isn't a word we actually know the root of beyond referring to the laurel tree and leaves thereof, but the association is strong enough that it might as well be a translation.
(Probably worth noting that Tolkien was also fluent in Latin.)

"Smite!Sigyn relationship chart"
I can't stop myself from these charts and my variants! Base made by @atreyushortcake💚
Tumblr media
Relationship info ⬇️
Loki:
Before the traumatic events Loki was a playful, loving and passionate lover that tried his best to be a father despite the issues he constantly found himself in. He really appreciates Sigyn for always being there to support him, even after he was the final blow to their family that already suffered so many looses. He feels like he did one thing right and that was choosing Sigyn as his second wife, secretly admiring her ability to go through so much and still be standing up straight. He would know that first hand.
These days, he is aware of how he has changed to be a little unhinged and that he can be a bit rough in nature. Sigyn even though she deeply misses the man Loki once was, could never stop loving him even when he turned out the way he did. She understands Loki better than anyone because she saw how he changed, she saw how cruelty made a monster out of him. But when he gets out of line she isn't afraid to voice her opinion either, even if it gets to the point of physically having to stop him in doing something stupid.
Hel:
Sigyn's relationship with Hel has always been very good from the start, since Hel desperately needed a parent to support her during those early years. Which Loki sadly wasn't able to do at the time, being a single parent with three kids, grieving over his previous wife. Sigyn was always there to teach, comfort and play with Hel whenever she needed it, causing the young girl to see her as a role model to the point she dyed her hair blonde when she got older to look like Sigyn's biological daughter.
After Hel was cast down to Helheim and forced to rule as it's queen, she remembered Sigyn's ways and used them with the same compassion and love to her people. Sigyn is also the reason why Hel enjoys baking cookies so much! Sigyn always saw Hel as her own daughter and is constantly proud of her, unlike Loki when she uses her abilities for good. Even though they both have soft spots for each other Sigyn is not afraid to deal with Hel's more darker side when necessary.
Fenrir:
Fenrir doesn't like to admit that he has feelings for anyone, but secretly that's not true. He was always distant and trying to act tough even as a pup. Despite this Fenrir is very protective of his step-mother and even the younger siblings she gave him. After all she was there for him and his siblings, always able to feed him and cuddle when he needed it. Which ironically is what fenrir prioritizes more than anything, eating like a king. Sigyn admittedly, while she finds Fenrir adorable even as an adult has to scold him a lot when he acts out (its not like everyone does that) but does tend to spoil him with his favorite dishes.
Jormi:
While Sigyn didn't get to know Jormungandr that well compared to his other siblings after he was cast away by Odin as a little baby into midgard. She still loves the big guy unconditionally and remembers him fondly as her son. Jormungandr in return does the same, recalling what little memories he has of their time spent together. He also recognizes Sigyn as family, despite his negative feelings towards the rest of his family (aka Loki.) While the giant snake often finds himself a bit jealous or upset that he never got to experience growing up with a mother like her, Sigyn tries to make up for it with the best of her abilities today.
Narfi and Vali:
Obviously Sigyn would be close with her two youngest sons, Narfi and Vali. They were her little miracles from the moment they arrived into the world. She spent a lot of their childhood caring for them and the boys really saw how much she tried, especially when they struggled. They appreciated their mothers efforts in making life easier and better for them. Even more so after their shared traumatic experience in..the cave. When Hel reunited Sigyn with Narfi she got very attached to her ghostly son and kept Vali around despite him being stuck in wolf form. The children feel the same way, not able to leave their mother's side and barely trusting anyone but her, they're very protective of each other.
The Morrigan:
Sigyn doesn't know The Morrigan on the same level as Hel does but sees her as a very good allay to keep around, especially during battle. After all she is a goddess of war! Sigyn is also admittedly quite charmed by the phantom queen. As weird as it may sound, she is able to see a lot of similarities between her and Loki, such as their ability to shapeshift, trick people and be charismatic little things. She and Hel must have a type!
Chang e:
It might be a bit strange for someone like Sigyn to befriend Chang e out of all the goddesses there are out there. But they're almost exactly the same in personality, if we look away from Sigyn's unhinged side. They're both lonely women, isolated from everyone and just want their husbands back into their lives. Specifically before things went eouth and changed. They find comfort in each others company and often see each other just to gossip and in general talk. Also Jade is a great therapy pet, even though Sigyn can barely feel her hands she loves petting him!
Ymir:
It's truly not everyday you see half of your families first ancestor now is it? She hasn't spoken to Ymir too much because of his lacking vocabulary. But that doesn't stop her from finding his innocent and naive personality hilarious, she laughs and finds it very enjoyable in the highest respect! Ymir isn't really offended by it, neither does he really understand it or who she is to him. So often you'll hear him refer to her as "bowl woman"
"Bowl woman put food in bowl?"
"No Ymir, it's to throw poison at you-"
Ratatoskr:
Ratatoskr and Sigyn love gossip and when she isn't on the battlefield, instead wondering what's going on in the world.. Ratatoskr will happily be at her service and report back if she has something scandalous about the norse gods. Obviously being the wife of the trickster god, Sigyn would know a few good tales that would surely embarrasse the whole all of Valhalla. There isn't really anything more to their dynamic other than Sigyn teasing Ratatoskr, treating him as her little messenger boy. In return he leaves making a fuss, finding Loki to report back on everything she told him just to spite her. Why wouldn't the most mischievous squirrel in all the nine realms be friends with the mischief maker and his wife?
Nike:
Sigyn and Nike are both victory goddesses and while Sigyn is the more introverted type between the two. Nike is very respectful and understanding towards what the poor woman and what she went through, when she heard what had happened. When they first met it was out on the battlefield and Sigyn was the first to start mocking her, it being very tense since they we're hunting each other down. Eventually it turned into playful banter and when they met a few times, they both love making it into a competition to settle who is the better victory bringer.
Heimdallr:
They know each other and unlike Loki, Sigyn isn't Heimdallr's enemy. No matter how many times her husband complains about him, to convince Sigyn to hate him as much as he does. Sigyn at least tries to stay out of their bickering for her own sanity and often makes fun of them for it. Loki doesn't take this as humorous as Heimdall does if he is there to hear it. All in all Sigyn and Heimdall respect each other, to the point where Heimdall sometimes finds himself hesitant to attack Sigyn on the battlefield.
Freyja:
Sigyn's relationship with Freyja is complicated, not because she is her mother and sometimes a daughter can fall out of touch. It's the fact Sigyn is married to Loki, someone the goddess is famously known to despise for his antics. Even worse, Freyja isn't happy with what her daughter went through but then again didn't actively try to stop it from happening or offer her support. Though she might've had her reasons not to interfere when things went down. This in return has made Sigyn feel like she can't trust the woman she calls mother and is very distant. You can imagine how awkward things are during family gatherings..
Skadi:
Initially, Sigyn didn't hold any resentment towards Skadi for marrying into her family through her grandfather, Njord. Sigyn could not fault Skadi for seeking vengeance and eventually finding a place among them. However, everything changed when Skadi, in an act of unforgivable betrayal, hung that cursed snake above Loki during his punishment. The same one Sigyn has now turned into her weapon. The goddess had hoped that Skadi saw them as family and Loki as a friend for making her laugh so many years ago.
To her, the respect she once held for Skadi evaporated instantly. The cut so deep, turning any lingering feeling into a burning desire for blood. If Sigyn were to encounter Skadi on the battlefield, there would be no hesitation in hunting her down. On the other hand, Skadi views Sigyn's loyalty to Loki to be foolish. She cannot fathom why Sigyn would choose to remain by Loki's side, enduring torment and suffering for a being she considers irredeemable. In Skadi's eyes, Sigyn's hatred is misplaced, her judgment clouded by a misguided sense of loyalty. They're far from fond of each other!
Odin:
Sigyn harbors deep hatred for Odin, not just because of his past wrong doings against her family with Loki, but because of the ultimate betrayal he inflicted by taking away their remaining children, the ones Odin considered "normal" enough for them to keep til the very bitter end. Odin's actions led to the death of one son and the disappearance of another, leaving their blood on his hands. While Odin might feel some remorse because they were innocent young children, he remains set that he made the right decision. In his mind, punishing Loki for Baldr's death was worth any price, even if it meant shattering Loki's sanity and destroying what little family Sigyn had left. He doesn't feel bad for the couple, blaming them for the way they turned out in the end.

This is soooo specific and probably weird, but maybe Arrana and Aregelle Stark are loosely named after their grandparents Arra Norrey, and I realize this is a stretch but Rickon -> Aregelle? It makes sense (sort of) in my head but idk...
It’s not weird; it would make sense that, in a succession crisis with multiple branches of descent from Cregan Stark, that Serena might want to emphasize her children’s descent from the senior branch (from his first wife Arra Norrey and her only child, Rickon) and thus by Northern law the true heirs of Winterfell. The Ar- prefix is fairly common among northern names: Artos, Arya, Arnolf, Arthor, Arra, Arrana, Aregelle, and Arsa are examples (5/8 of them female names, though I speculate it’s because GRRM wanted Arya Stark to have a strong connection to her female ancestors), so could be a coincidence, though I like your idea about it being an intentional variant, because Serena’s son Cregard’s name is a unique variant on Cregan, her grandfather. Torrhen is also a common Northern name, but among the Starks only seems to be for the King Who Knelt, which, if you consider the name similarities between Aregelle and Argella Durrandon the last Storm Queen, could be for “last” rulers usurped/demoted to being lords or consorts of lands they were monarchs of; again, it could be related to the succession crisis, because despite being from the senior branch of Cregan on their mother’s side and from an older brother on their father’s side, none of Serena’s children inherited Winterfell (and those we know who married, the daughters, wed loyal Northern vassals, the Umbers and Cerwyns), with the lordship going first to their paternal uncle Barthogan and then his younger brother Brandon. Maybe Brandon naming his only daughter “Arsa” was a way to reconcile with Serena’s descendants, or just a coincidence.

I am feeling so normal right now, 100%, totally...
My brain is spinning between two different shows right now so I'm gonna dump my thoughts here while I eat pancakes at 11pm.
So like wouldn't Loki and Sylvie technically be related or something??? I might be reading too much into them I just don't like their ship all too much. I also don't get how all this...uh...time travel multiverse variant stuff works very well so.
Mobius and Loki are so cute please I love their friendship why can't they just be gay for eachother instead.
It actually kinds makes sense that Loki's first live would be himself(Sylvie) cause...yk it's Loki. It's kinda funny.
Is Cole okay??? My mans did not seem very okay during the scene where he left to follow the mysterious Wu voice and I'm genuinely worried.
Jay is still Jay, loving those videogames, but he also a little snarky with was interesting to see in him. Still hoping he and Cole have an epic showdown.
That red djinn guy was...okay I guess. I'm disappointed my evil pirate genje man wasn't there. I'm still hoping he appears at some point.
You know how there ar a lot of peope upset with Zane being treated more like a robot than a person in Dragons Rising? We could write angst with that and you know I'm right.
I feel like Beatrix and Sons of Garmadon Harumi would kinda get along. Possibly cause some havoc together yk?
I saw a tik tok where some people thought it would be possible Lava ship might happen in Dragons Rising and I just want to say. Kai has a GIRLFRIEND if you didn't know. He's dating Skylor. Kailor(or however the ship name is spelled I forget) is canon. They are dating. I am sorry. Cole can still be gay though so it's not a complete loss.
I supsected something was being planned for Cole after the news of his new power was leaked on youtube. I hope he's okay but I also hope for angst tbh.
Is Dareth getting character development still going to be a thing?? I swear I heard it somewhere. Please say yes. Please. Dareth deserves it he's great.
Does Dareth canonically have powers now?? Does he still have them?? Does he still need to pee everytime he uses it?? Has he used it at all ever since that one episode??
I was excited out of my mind when Jay appears for a single scene. I knew he wasn't going to play a major role in this first season after a couple of tweets I saw posted on yt. I'm excited for him.
Do you suppose Zane and Jay will bond over memory loss trauma? ....We could write angst for that.
Okay that's all for now. Thanks for listening. :)

When it comes to how I imagine the birth order of Hera's children, I'll admit that I'm not faithfully adhering to any ancient source, but mostly combining various accounts and adding and subtracting as necessary. I think I have somewhat unorthodox opinions about this but I'm fine with it.
To start with what some sources tell us: in Hesiod's Theogony Hera bears to Zeus Hebe, Ares and Eileithyia (listed in this order) and in the Library of Apollodoros Hebe, Eileithyia and Ares (listed in this order in all translations I've read, but I haven't looked at the Greek text to confirm). Note that the order in which these three gods are named need not be their actual birth order. In Hesiod's Theogony, for example, Styx is mentioned last on the catalogue of daughters of Okeanos, yet she is the oldest of them all. The birth of Hephaistos is set apart from those of Hera's other children in both sources, in the Theogony taking place after (and likely in reaction to) Athena's birth, in the Bibliotheke before it. However, the birth order of the younger gods obviously can differ greatly from one source to another: Apollon is the oldest son of Zeus in the Theogony, but in Homeric Hymn to Apollo Hephaistos seems to have been born before him, and in Kallimachos' Hymn to Delos both Ares and Hephaistos are older; in Hesiod's Theogony Ares is conceived after but born before Athena, in the Bibliotheke he is both conceived and born before her, but in one variant (only attested by Ovid but this doesn't have to mean that he invented it) he is conceived and born in response to her birth; in the Theogony Apollon is born before Eileithyia, but in Homeric Hymn 3 he can only be brought into the world with her help; in the Theogony Apollon is also born before Athena, but in the Bibliotheke she is born before, and in one tradition (Hypereides fragment 67) she was the one who guided the pregnant Leto to Delos.
Anyway, personally I consider Eileithyia Hera's eldest. Do I have any evidence for this? No. I could argue that my interpretation is based on the fact that this goddess is not only very old in historical terms but is also given an alternative origins as the „clever spinner”, older than Kronos in a hymn of Olen. In truth, however, this is mostly based on vibes. I imagine that she was born before Hera and Zeus were formally married, which is why she is born on earth, in a Cretan cave (Pausanias, Description of Greece 1.18.5, Nonnos, Dionysiaca 8.178 ff). Why would Hera, the lawfully wedded wife of Zeus, need to give birth to her daughter in a cave on earth? It is because Eileithyia was a Cretan goddess with a sanctuary at Amnisos (as attested on the Linear B Tablets) and who originally was independent from Hera? Yes, in all probability, but I'm trying to have fun here/ There is not much evidence for a kourotrophic aspect of this goddess, but regardless I like to imagine that she might have taken care of her younger siblings.
Hephaistos is her second child and first son. Yes, Ares is generally considered older than Hephaistos, but Idc, there is little chronological logic in the myths of Hephaistos anyways, and he can even be conceived during Zeus and Hera's secred premarital affair in some accounts (X). I'm fond of the idea that Athena, goddess of both war and crafts, was born between the gods of war and of crafts respectively, and I'm placing Hephaistos first of this trio because I want to and because the sources where he is born before Athena are actually more numerous than those where she is born before him (X). In one account attributed to Hesiod (Hes. fr. 343), the births of Hephaistos and Athena are linked, Zeus sleeping with Metis after Hera has Hephaistos on her own. I'm keeping this order of events, except that he is not actually a fatherless child. After his birth, which I imagine to put some strain on Zeus and Hera's marriage, Zeus sleeps with Metis (the first time he cheats on Hera in the story I'm imagining) which eventually leads to him giving birth to Athena himself.
In my mind Hephaistos is in fact the son of both Hera and Zeus (as in the Odyssey and probably in the Iliad), but doubts exist as concerns his origins. Given that he was born disabled, rumour circulates that he must not be Zeus's son (all of his other children are flawless and lovely in form, after all) and that Hera had him on her own. Zeus himself has doubts and at least in the beginning thinks that Hephaistos is not his.Typhon, if he is Hera's son as I prefer him to be, would be born to her in revenge for Athena's birth from Zeus. She has Gaia's help in producing him, so that is why he is so different from her other children.
Then follows Ares. During her pregnancy with him Hera finds out that Leto is also pregnant and that it is believed that she will give birth to a mighty and distinguished son. Needless to say that she is furious, both because of the infidelity, but even more because someone else is going to bear to Zeus a great son when the one Hera herself had given him was disappointing to the point that some even suspect that he was not Zeus's child at all. As a result, the last thing she wants is for Leto to give birth to Apollon before Hera proves that she is perfectly capable of bringing forth a powerful and glorious son. Ares is born before Leto's children because Hera prolongs her labour with the help of Eileithyia, but, unfortunately for her, the birth of the twins far outshines that of Ares, and Apollon does turn out to be more powerful, more respected by gods and mortals, and far more beloved by Zeus than Ares.
And Hebe, youth personified, is her youngest. I'm pretty basic here and I don't have any notable opinions about this one.
Prometheus, Angelos/Hekate, Pasithea or the Graces in general are also called her children in some sources, but, except for Prometheus who would be her very first child (born before her marriage to Zeus not that I would be likely to use this parentage for him), I have no idea about how the rest could be arranged. Eris and Enyo are sometimes called sister of Ares (Edit: Enyo is called the sister of Polemos, not of Ares) which could but doesn't have to mean that Hera is their mother. I'd be more tempted to accept Eris as a daughter of Hera (even though Nyx is her mother in the Theogony) because strife is so characteristic of Hera's relationship with Zeus and of her personality in general, and we even have one story where these two goddesses actually interact and Hera uses her to ruin the marriage of an impious mortal couple. Enyo's connection with Ares varies wildly and she is also called his nurse, mother, daughter or lover.

Man... I dunno wtf happened here... Poor Gargoyles really got put thru the ringer as far as redesigns go
GARGOYLE it's a gargoyle. You know one of these days someone will design a game with gargoyle enemies and actually acknowledge the fact that gargoyles are defined by their spitting water as a part of gutter and aqueduct systems. Without the water they're just grotesques.
ALBION is a frustratingly widely used name for towns and ships and such that I had trouble really pinning down to a direct reference. The root of the name is that it's a name for Great Britain meaning "White", quite possibly in reference to the cliffs of Dover and their iconic sheer white cliff face overlooking the english channel. And as a name for a variation on a gargoyle --also stone, also perched high up-- that may be the most sensible reference. But it could also be a reference to the character, Albion, in the lore of the writings of William Blake(?) That figure himself is based on the greek ALEBION/ALBION a giant and son of Poseidon, a figure briefly appearing in the myths of Hercules. But I don't see a substantive link between that and a thing that looks like a GARGOYLE, although it would make some sense for the aquatic looking model in WA3. (Blake is a fascinating figure btw, I won't try to summarize his life here but go look him up.)
DELPHIN & PREMIUM DELPHIN is odd, DELFIN or DELPHIN has been the name of various submarines throughout history, mostly German and one Russian, and is taken from their respective words for DOLPHIN. Which I guess accounts for the shift into an aquatic looking monster? But then there's the PREMIUM DELPHIN which is just a gold variant, which makes me think of pulling an ultrarare out of like a gatchapon machine? It could possibly even be a reference to Japanese pro-wrestler turned politician, Super Delfin.
VORRAC appears to be a misromanization of VOLAC/VALAC/VALAK, a demon included in various grimoires but almost always under some variant spelling. In the case of the spellings in question, the source would be either the classic Ars Goetia, or Pseudomonarchia Deamonum, which falls in line with most of the other demons used in WA. (It's the same demon name used in that stupid nun movie.)
