Remember— these are just ideas to help with brainstorming, you are not limited to interpreting the prompts in just these ways. 

Family: You could choose to interpret this as being in relation family members (canon or head cannoned) for a scenario like meeting the in-laws; or them building one of their own (with pets, fan kids, v3 kid AUs, etc). Another angle could be a reflection on their own childhoods, with a focus on their family life/dynamics to tie it back to the prompt.

Dates: Quite a few options to go with, off the top of my head: first dates, blind dates, double/group date, fake dating, or even a study date lol. This could also be interpreted in the sense of important dates like birthdays, anniversary, etc.

Promise: This one might be a tad bit easier on the writers since all you'd need to really do to meet the prompt is throw in one 'promise between men', but you can definetly get creative with it. You could go a more canon route of 'I'll build your house bro' or 'We'll get out of the killing game alive' to anything else you could think of, big or small— perhaps even broken promises (as serious or silly as you'd like, e.g. 'you promised you'd stop speeding')

Sickness: Just a few ideas besides a literal cold— lovesickness (figurative or more literal like a hanahaki AU), a despair disease scenario, or a mental health day.

Roleswap: Anything that generally swaps the canon role would apply here. So Protagonist AUs, Mastermind AU, Survivor/Future Foundation AUs would all be applicable here. Remnants of Despair AUs may also apply, see the elaboration given in the Talentswap section.

Seasons: Take this as liberally as you'd like. Focus on one season or all; focus on seasonal activities like going to the beach, a seasonal school vacation; or a seasonal holiday/festival, just to offer a few different ways you could try and meet this prompt. 

Competition: With how competitive these two are, hopefully this won't end being too restrictive. Be this between the two of them, one rooting for the other for sports/other extracurricular activities, or a double date scenario with someone as competitively spirited. You could also stick to more canon moments for reference like the Sauna Scene or the race between Mondo and Daiya.

Future: You could do something with Futuristic themes like cyborgs/androids/etc. Or more broadly approach the prompt with discussions of the future (v3 talentplan style), or in settings where they're older (be that 30 or 80, however you wish to interpert it). 

Talentswaps: The difference from the roleswap Is that the former implies the talent isn't changed, just the role within the story. A talentswap may change several factors, but most notably the talent. So whether you're swapping just the talents between the THH cast or swapping game premises as well (e.g. v3 au with SHSL Inventor Oowada), all of that would be better suited here. Remnants of Despair AUs could go here if it's a talent swap that includes SDR2's general premise, but if the talents were to remain the same AND the concept to be (for example) that Junko chose Class 78 over 77 to brainwash, then that could fall under a Roleswap instead.

Gifts: This should hopefully be easier to achieve as a prompt, but this could be around any kind of celebration involving gifting (birthdays, holidays, etc.), or just a general occasion of wanting to get a gift. Maybe focusing on having difficulty with finding a present, etc.

Confessions: This could be anything from a love confession, or a completely innocuous thing like— oops, I’m the asshole that has been in your parking spot bc I’m dyslexic and thought it was mine meet cute(?). Perhaps it could be one of them receiving a love confession and the reaction around it.

Soulmates: Since I know there are quite a few ideas people have come up with over the years for soulmate AUs, I think this one should also not be too difficult (hopefully).

I am new to the fandom and it’s kind of hard keeping track of every material there is and in which order to consume it, if you don’t mind, can you pls help? 🥲

How many manga episodes are there and where I can read it for free in English? Also how many anime seasons with how many eps each? And where to steam the (again, for free. I am broke sry 😭)

I know this is an extensive ask but I find Wikipedia to be unreliable and feels it’s best to ask a dedicated fan instead. Also I prefer consuming things chronologically and feel like it’s better to ask what is the best way to go about reading/watching

Heya, what a time to be new to the fandom!

Currently, there are 201 chapters of the Black Butler manga and every new chapter comes out once a month on the 18th but you can find some panels of it in japanese around 15th on different social media (so called spoilers). Regarding your question about where to read the whole manga, you can find it on pretty much every manga site (if you would like a suggestion for it and for the anime site, dm me!).

Regarding the anime, there exist 2 seasons and 3 Book of titles. The first season has some episodes which are canon while the second season doesn’t exist in the manga at all. Everything with the ,,book of” in the title is canon to the manga and if you ask me, is the best part of the anime. There exist few OVAs which are super fun to watch but yet again, they have nothing to do with the manga. I still recommend watching the whole anime without skipping the non canon episodes because sometimes they can have some foreshadowing for the future chapters. So the order would be:

Lets bust a confusion. About these two incestuous minors and Alucard’s stupidity and portrayal by Fucking Netflix,the champion of woke messages and FITNAA of the devil.

1. First of all, if we look at history, Japan and Romania ( country where Castlevania takes place ) never knew each other until 18th century. Japan was a closed nation to the entire world and totally isolated. So these bastards crossing thousands of miles to visit Eastern Europe in 15th century is nonsensical and nothing but promotion of gay agenda nonsense and other shit that goes with it. That too for killing a dude ? Same goes for Cho. But because its Netflix/Fuckflix so their diversity, inclusivity, equity, genderbending and race swapping identity politics quota is more important than writing good literature with sensible racial,geographical and historical accuracy. The show kept no respect for either the culture of Romania or the games and made the whole show look like modern day America teeming with immigrants interacting instead. LOL.

2. These two were brother and sister that were shown to have incestuous habits as gross as it gets. The proof lies in the episode where we get to see them touch each other while teasing a drunk Alucard in his bed naked. There it is confirmed how bullshit Netflix can get with their shows and pushing envelope especially in a kid's show.

3. These Japanese don't exist in the games,they been added to fill diversity quota. When the Japanese bastards arrive, they start with trying to kill Alucard. Later, they get caught and act like his friends. Sumi in particular acts all touchy feely and flirty with Alucard right from the get go and Alucard instantly reciprocates. ( Alucard is shown throughout entire Castlevania series to have big appetite for women, falls easily for women,their touch and attention of women. ) while the boy Taka stays as he is. However, they want to learn vampire killing stuff and present themselves as orphans. Sympathising with them naively, Alucard agrees to mentor them and let's them into the castle. If it was some other naive guy instead of Alucard, he or she would have done the same out of respect and courtesy. Its nothing to do with romantic love for two people at the same time for fucks sake.

4. These freaks are younger than the dumbass dhampir as he is made out to be in the series and are treated like children by him while he holds an older brother and mentor.

If you have siblings, you will relate. Nothing romantic or sexual in the castle from Alucard’s side. Simple platonic friendship builds among them as time passes which is very normal as humans are social creatures. Now the lgbt kids speculate that these bastards are Alucard’s lovers. Where ? Did they propose to him ? Did he propose? No. There is no confirmation in the series. Yes we can agree that Sumi was flirty and touchy with Alucard and he seemed to like the girl's attention too and we can guess they may have had some harmless flirty moments but Taka was not into any of that. He was like a little brother to Alucard minding his own. So please stop speculating that this was a bi poly bullshit. Socialisation between humans automatically doesn't mean something romantic or sexual for God's sake.

5. The twins decide to kill Alucard and the night they will kill him is the night they have a lot of wine especially Alucard who is shown to be a heavy drinker, has his guard down and unsteady emotionally. He goes to bed but some uneasiness come over him. He cannot sleep. The bastards get in his room and he worrily asks them if anything is wrong. This act of worrying itself shows how paternal or big brotherly Alucard had been to these two so far looking after them and cooking for them as the adult one among the three. Nothing sexual or romantic on his side at all so far. So lgbt kids,teens and tweens stop speculating and jumping to conclusions. The lgbt promoting websites such as Lgbt Fandom and Wikia have written garbage about this episode and given Alucard and some others a queer but also perverse identity all to promote the rainbow. Netflix is part of that far left politics. And now we see kids repeat what they have seen on those websites calling it cannon.

6. The twins get in his bed. Alucard fails to understand what's happening at first. He never had sex before and is quite surprised when they push him to lie down and kiss him much to his shock. This WTF reaction from Alucard that we see is another clear indication that he never saw these two as lovers initially,had no romantic feelings nor had any three way poly relation with them right from the bat and certainly expected no sex. This is all unexpected behaviour to him.

If poly was the case, Alucard would be all comfy and sharing the bed with both in laughter already instead of going WTF. 😄We also get to see Alucard being physically intimate for the first time and not having clear ideas on what to do ? 😖

7. The twins touch him all over body to arouse and tease him. He is aroused but notice how uncomfortable as well. Its interesting to notice that in this scene, he is more inclined towards Sumi,.kissing her, turning towards her, playing with her legs,hips,neck and boobs away from the boy on other side. 😶 For a while the touching continues from both sides. The boy does his part to keep arousing him. Then we see Taka licks Alucard’s leg and Sumi plays with Alucard’s dick. He is highly horny and crying from severe horniness. Now here is another point. Either of the twins might have given Alucard a blow job but the show doesn't show that or which twin doing it. We only see Alucard tossing his head. Therefore,you cannot jump to conclusion that it was Taka. It may have been that girl too. No surety. Then again, it looks like a joke more than sex.

Let's focus on yet another detail. In the presence of Sumi, why didnot the dumbass Alucard turn her over and penetrate her ? Is it not the natural instinct for a dude attracted to women to want to penetrate during sex ? What kind of a dude lays like a log during sex 🤔 ?

8. Now we see the boy attempts to penetrate Alucard as he pulls his legs to his shoulders but right then, the twins move back to two sides of Alucard while he is still tossing his head God knows why and immediately they put rings around both his hands to tie him to the bed. The " sex " ends there. Gay people argue and lgbt websites say that Taka was queer and had sexual intercourse anally with Alucard but if you look closely in the episode, that never happened. He did lift his legs up and pulled him close but no penetration or such sort could take place. Because they went for the killing right there. 🤔 Watch the episode carefully again and match my analysis.

Another point- why did Alucard lay there the whole time just tossing his head left and right instead of getting up and putting his dick inside Sumi or Taka ? Its very confusing actually what was going on in the scene. Also, him just laying there is another clear indication that his body was too heavy to move from all the drinking 🤐. He lay like a log coz he was too drowned in alcohol or maybe just maybe "drugs" 🤨. He didn't move around actively which is strange for a man to do during sex. Unless he is too intoxicated to move, it is not like a man to just passively lay there when sex happens. Even faggots that bottom move around in bed.

So it's safe to say, his drunkenness could be also a reason he didn't say a proper " yes " or a " no " when they forced themselves on him. He just stared like drunks do at hoes in bars. They knew he was down with alcohol,his vision not as clear,his mind completely insane and heart a big mess from disaster in his life and he would be easy to manipulate by means of sexual arousal. We see this in real life when people hit rock bottom,are lost and cannot make proper judgements, they drink too much booze or do drugs,their libido gets too high and they get taken advantage of or many have sexual encounters that they are not very proud of later. Same was Alucard's case. Being a lonely horny mess, he got aroused real fast.His boundary was down to zero. Courtesy of the booze. Courtesy of being a virgin for too long. Courtesy of depression. Here is another point to prove Alucard never had romantic inclinations or "relationship" with the weirdos - after He kills them out of defence and puts them on stakes and pees near their stake rods. He is pissed as fuck at these two and is seen crying in physical pain,betrayal and guilt after the kill because he cannot believe one bullshit after another taking place in his pathetic life. You don't hate people to the extend of killing and impaling them if you so loved them romantically. It's pure disgust and hate from Alucard we get to see for the sudden debauchery and murder attempt on him. We see Alucard is feeling torn by people he stupidly allowed in his house and thought them as his siblings and children until the "sex" moment arrived if you call it sex that is. He is blaming himself for his stupidity as well.

9. Now many lgbt crazies can argue this act was to show Alucard is bisexual and so is Taka coz its all about representation and relating for them right ? HELL TO THE NO. NOTHING WILL CHANGE THE ALUCARD KONAMI GAVE US. We people understand very well what has been going on for years in the movies,shows and songs and we don't buy it no matter how many websites they put up to confuse young people and encourage them into these things.

So, does this so called sex act confirm bisexuality or queerness for Taka ? NOPE. Taka is a villain, clearly acted with an agenda and did what he needed to do and that is to kill Alucard according to their plan from the start. Also,you will notice most of the sex work done on Alucard was done by Sumi and Taka played along doing just enough to show he was engaged until the right time to kill came. We are certain from the episode that Taka is more an deceiver, not a bi or poly and he played his act well. But the siblings surely are INCESTUOUS if anything. Plus, Taka and the girl never had any romantic feelings for stupid Alucard unlike how some people with meaningless fanfics and especially websites would conclude. Sumi might have had a crush maybe,nothing serious enough like love but Taka clearly never had any feelings or real attraction. If Sumi atleast had feelings for the stupid Alucard, she would not join in the killing. She is another villain after all. Simple logic.

Despite what those Lgbt websites and toxic fandoms say, the simple logic is this - you don't kill someone you love while having sex at someone's vulnerable state. Only enemies with agenda do that. Logic pointed. If the twins did love him they wouldn't try to kill him.

10. People may ask why did Taka get involved sexually ? He must have been attracted to Alucard ! Sumi could easily do the job of killing herself? Unless the Japanese dude is pan or queer, why would he.... and why kill by using sex in the first place ?

Answer 1 = Because Netflix has to show its diversity inclusivity and woke identity politics,push polyamory agenda in all of its original creations,click all its check boxes and ruin many beloved video games characters and cartoon characters like the original straight and dignified Alucard. That's why. Oh and season 3 flopped for these obvious reasons. 🤣 Warren Ellis went to jail. Yet Netflix continues on with woke shit. They do it with every other show as well.

Answer 2 = Because Sumi might not have been able to handle Alucard who is very powerful, all by herself as a human girl so Taka, a guy and her own brother got in the room with her to assist her in killing him and to ensure his sister's safety lest anything should happen to her. Easy math.

People may ask is Sumi queer or poly ?

Answer is She is an deciever and villain with an agenda and incestuous like her brother. Nothing more.

Second Last question - Was Alucard ever attracted to Taka to allow sex ? Well, he never was. Only during the sex as they call it when it came to him by surprise, he might have thought when they both approached him by force, "well this is new ." In real life, you will find many people of both genders have had same sex encounters but that tells nothing about their real identities or inclinations. ( This is where Netflix confuses everyone and divides the fans into two groups by not staying true to the Games and manga Lore. )

Final question - Is Alucard really bisexual even in the blasted series unlike the canon ? All answers from observations and series itself say NO. While I’m working on the final chapter for my 2021 ranking, I will announce the obvious: I am of course NOT going to do a full 2022 pre-show ranking lol. There’s no time, and besides, I would be forced to rank 2022 twice, back-to-back and there’s no fun in that!  So instead, I will do it here, JUST to have a pre-show order of sorts. Ok so first of all, let’s talk politics. Max Mosley says some of the teams want to take over the financial side of things from Bernie, who’s the commercial rights holder, and the regulatory side of things from them. They want to run all of Formula 1 and of course, they don’t agree. Lol. This has always been only about money and power. Apparently Mosley mostly has issues with Flavio Briatore (Renault). He calls some of them “loonies”. He’s insulting and condescending. “Trying to take something that isn’t yours is not really in accordance with the law”, he says, so they’re launching legal proceedings against Ferrari and Toyota. Wtf is he even saying. They’re not stealing from him. This is ridiculous. Of course good ol’ Bernie is defending him and bla bla bla. This is all still about that £40mio cap. Basically, FOTA refused to sign up for the 2010 season in the conditions the FIA demanded. The tensions are now so high, FOTA threatens to hold their own world championship instead of taking part in F1′s.

Moving on to quali. Lewis is 18th on the grid so it’s clearly not getting any better. He says he gave it is all as he always says. Sutil crashed hard, but he’s okay. The quali had to be stopped for a while. Jenson’s weekend is more about damage control than performance, he’s 6th. Webber is 3rd. Barrichello 2nd. And it’s Seb on pole. He’s very giddy!

Lewis is taking the journalist whatever his name is for a drive on the track, under the rain, in a fancy Mercedes.

He says they should take it easy, but then proceeds to drift in the corners, lmao. He’s frightening the man to death and laughing in his face, doing donuts.

Oh shit, now it’s the journalist who takes the wheel. Lewis is like : no, don’t move your hands on the wheel keep them there, you’re turning too much, do it like this. And he’s basically turning the wheel for him like a dad teaching his kid to drive. Annnnd they’ve gone off. Great job. Now he teaches him to do donuts too.

Ugh. They’re interviewing Mosley. Good thing is, as they still insist on talking from the garages, we can’t hear a thing he says. In the meantime, may I remind you that last season, he got filmed indulging into s*dom*sochists acts with pr*stitutes in n*zi uniforms? Yeah. Just as I’ll always mention it when they let cars unlap themselves under Safety Car, I’ll always mention the n*zi scandal when we talk about Mosley.

Halfway through. Lewis overtakes Alonso. Even the crowd is bored. He’s now racing Piquet, but Alonso is not far behind. Oh... Now he’s down again, what happened? Alonso overtook them both, it seems.

He’s not smiling as much this time around. He’s grateful for the crowd and the fans. He says he enjoyed it in the perspective of the fans, they give him so much energy by supporting him even though the team is not doing well at the moment.

My life is a huge mess, but at least it's interesting: I was able to get the grade bonus for an exam, did my German test, the code for my thesis now works, and on Monday I've got my first "real" exam (and I really want it to go well because I love the subject).

Regarding Galloper Thompson’s clothes

Including his (slutty, thigh high) boots

It’s been brought to my attention that galloper’s slutty thigh high boots actually look like ankle boots with the thigh high part tucked into the boot. So I’ve decided to go beyond my jokes about him being a slut anyways and make this post going over his clothes. And buckle up folks, it gets long.

I’ll be honest, it’s pretty difficult to find details about 13th century (and 12th century) Scandinavian life specifically, especially since I’m using google. For this post, I have just used general European fashion, but in the future I’ll be mixing viking things with general European things from this time (but I’ll mostly try to keep the general European things to German and English/Irish stuff). I’ll also be referencing things from both the 13th century and the 12th century, since galloper “lived” during the early 13th century (and every website seems to think the 13th century started in 1250).

But anyways, an English knight from the mid 13th century apparently wore something like this on his bottom half (underneath other layers):

Now as you can see in this terrible quality picture (sorry about that, but I did try to label it), the hose are thigh high just like galloper’s leg coverings, which is what gave me the idea that maybe it’s hose he’s wearing. So let’s begin.

I would explain the whole system they used, but this does it better than I could (you only need to read until it starts talking about chausses since we’re only talking about the hose). The linked text is a bit weird and may (or may not) be unreliable, but it’s compact, explains things well, and has pictures (it’s where I got that *stunning* photo I labeled). However, keep in mind that it depicts a mid 13th century English knight, and galloper is from early 13th century Scandinavia, so while there may be similarities, there’s also definitely differences in how he would’ve dressed. Braies were apparently longer in the first half of the 13th century, for one, and didn’t really become “underwear” for everyone until the second half and later. Hose were also referred to as stockings, and apparently hose and stockings didn’t really refer to different things until later on. Additionally, clothing differed between class, but we’re not going to go over that today.

So how does this relate to galloper? Well his lower half actually sort of resembles the picture above, doesn’t it? His “hose” are thigh high, with ankle high shoes over them, just like the picture. Despite the similarities, though, there are differences. His “hose” aren’t pointed, and so there are no ties for them. Apparently, hose didn’t have to be pointed, and those thigh high hose that weren’t pointed were held up with pins.. but there are no pins to hold them up either. Without one of these mechanisms to hold up the hose, they would not stay in place. And considering we can see where the thigh high part ends, we should also be able to see at least part of what’s holding them up. The thigh high part could also theoretically be “leg bandages” that extend above the knee. However, his “hose” don’t look like wrapped or crisscrossed cloth, they look solid, so leg bandages are unlikely.

Now, I wanted to present hose as an explanation based (somewhat) in history, but I don’t actually think he’s wearing hose. We’ll go over why later in this post, but let’s keep going for now.

On to his tunic and coat. Well I say tunic, really it isn’t a tunic by medieval standards. Back in the 13th century, tunics didn’t have buttons—at least not on the front. And his coat.. well it’s not something you’d find in the 13th century. Longer coverings, down to the knee or lower, were the style then. Shorter coverings with buttons down the front didn’t appear until the 14th century in the form of things like doublets. Those “things” were usually very padded and form-fitting, however, and neither galloper’s shirt or coat seem to be padded or exceedingly form-fitting at all.

The history of gloves (in everyday wear, at least) is surprisingly complex, so I won’t be touching his gloves. I’m also ignoring his belt because I don’t have much to say on it, but they did have leather belts with “single-looped” buckles (whatever that means) in the 12th and 13th centuries.

Moving on to his cape. Ah yes, his tattered little cape (which matches his mare’s tattered little saddle blanket!). Who knows why the fuck he wears it. There doesn’t seem to be a hood (like the medieval chaperon) or a part that comes around to cover the shoulders, and it’s too short to be a cloak. My best guess is that it was a design choice based on the fact that such a short cape doesn’t need a fluttering animation. Why not axe (lol) the whole idea of a cape? Well, all the coolest characters have capes!

His weird ass shoulder pad I can’t come up with an explanation for, though (or at least a medieval one). If he had a neck, the shoulder pad would be digging into it based on the position. Maybe it’s supposed to be like those shoulder pads with tassels on some formal military uniforms (technically “epaulettes” with “fringe”)? Except instead of tassels it’s feather looking things and also there’s only one shoulder pad for some reason?

All of this is to say that none of what he’s wearing can realistically pass for 13th century clothing, except maybe his lower half, and that’s still stretching it.

His entire outfit actually most resembles military uniforms from the 18th and early 19th centuries, as @inkowl13 pointed out in this post. When he floats, you can even clearly see his tattered coattails, which are his trademark green on the underside. In the case of 18th century garb, his shirt would be a waistcoat (he doesn’t seem to be wearing an 18th century shirt underneath his “waistcoat” at all, but maybe we just can’t see it or distinguish it from his “waistcoat”), and his jacket-thing would be a uniformed soldier’s coat. His lower half would be breeches with either a. ankle boots and over-the-knee stockings, b. ankle boots and thigh high gaiters (those things with buttons that go over the top of the shoe), or c. thigh high boots, which appeared as riding boots in the 15th century and remained common until the 19th century—including in military uniforms (in fact, some cavalry units today still use them in their ceremonial dress uniforms). His shoulder pad would, in fact, be a strange attempt at an epaulet/epaulette (which were used in the 18th century (and beyond) to denote rank) with fringe the color of his trademark green. The fact that there’s only one also makes sense within this period; whether the epaulet/epaulette was on the right, left, or both shoulders indicated rank (Galloper’s “epaulet/epaulette” is on his right shoulder, our left). The issue of glove history is also eliminated since it seems military uniforms in the 1700s made use of gloves. Men’s capes/cloaks at this time went to the knee or below it, so my explanation for his cape is unchanged. Through this lens, things start to become clear.

This is a mannequin (is that what you call the fake models of historical clothing? does mannequin apply in this context?) wearing an 18th century cavalry uniform:

As you can see, he looks incredibly similar to galloper, despite the many differences.

And these are two sets of 18th century soldiers (again, sorry for the less than ideal quality):

On the left there’s a pair of soldiers with over-the-knee boots and on the right there’s a pair with over-the-knee gaiters (see how they go over their shoes). Thigh high boots would make more sense for a horseman, but thigh high gaiters would explain some things about his lower half, like how his boots and the thigh high part are different colors. However, there are no buttons on the sides (like gaiters have) or garters at the knee (like both stockings and gaiters had), and the thigh high part is tucked into the shoe, more like stockings rather than gaiters. In these pictures you can also see how his upper half looks incredibly similar to all four soldiers, again, even with the differences.

Now, unless galloper was keeping up with fashion until the 18th century when he stopped (he gave up I guess? said “fuck that shit” and hasn’t changed clothes for the past 300 years?), he shouldn’t be wearing an 18th century military uniform. Especially since he was shown wearing the same clothes in his execution scene (which I don’t put too much stake in considering the Jarl was in his ghost form and even the soul riders don’t have 2 sets of clothes in game).

So why does he look like this, then? The reason why he looks like a revolutionary war soldier can be traced back to the inspiration used for his design. According to Jorvikipedia, his “...design takes direct inspiration from author Washington Irving’s Headless Horseman from The Legend of Sleepy Hollow...” which explains why he looks the way he does. Jorvikipedia has been wrong before (they list his place of birth as “Jorvik (presumably)” which doesn’t fit with his backstory), but if Galloper’s design was based on the headless horseman of “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” (which it very likely was), it would provide justification for the 18th century look of his clothes. Washington Irving’s horseman was, after all, (alleged to be) killed during the revolutionary war in the 18th century.

It’s obvious his upper half is based on 18th century uniform, but the intention behind his lower half remains a mystery. Whether it’s meant to be stockings, gaiters, or boots, I don’t know. Theoretically, his lower half could even have been intended to be hose, braies, and shoes. But considering his entire look and the inspiration behind his design, an 18th century explanation seems more likely (I just don’t know which 18th century explanation, exactly). It would be pretty strange if half of him was medieval and the other half was from the revolutionary war era. Though, I’ll admit, it’s not completely impossible.

My theory for the contradiction between his design and his backstory is that his backstory came after his design. The 18th century look of him, along with his inspiration, and the lack of medieval elements in his design all make a compelling case for this theory. The only thing I can think of that may disprove it is his mare’s y-shaped bridle, but even that could be explained if she was designed after galloper, while his backstory was in its first stages of development (I’ll probably do another post on his horse’s tack, since this post is already long, but that’s for another day). But that’s just a theory; the star stable team could very well have just not done any research on 13th century attire, instead modeling his look on depictions of Irving’s headless horseman and adding the bridle as an indication of the origin they had already established for him.

Ok, but what about the rest? The other parts of his and his mare’s designs (color scheme, hanging pumpkin jack-o-lanterns) can be attributed to the fact that he is the halloween event character. Though his color scheme could be inspired by the headless horseman in World of Warcraft, who was introduced in 2007 (I found out about this horseman while looking into other possible inspirations for galloper’s design), all the colors seen on him and his mare (black, green, red, orange) are general Halloween colors. The hanging jack-o-lanterns are not historically accurate for the Middle Ages (or the revolutionary war era, actually) as pumpkins were not introduced into Europe until Columbus “discovered” the Americas, and did not become commonly carved into jack-o-lanterns until the 19th century in America -which was when and where “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” was published (though the pumpkin “head” was not even carved in the original story). I suppose galloper could have developed an affinity for pumpkins (and for carving them) later on (Jorvik seems to have a lot of them), but it’s more likely that they added them (to the keep and his mare’s design) based on modern halloween practices instead of historical halloweens or consideration of galloper’s feelings on pumpkins.

Ok, so we’ve established he’s not historically accurate for the 13th century, but what would his clothes look like if they were actually historically accurate? The answer is: I don’t know! Maybe I’ll do another google deep dive and make a post on that, but for now we’ve come to the end.

All of my information about historical clothing came from sorting out google results, so take the historical bits with a hefty grain of salt (more like a bowl of salt actually). If you have any actual knowledge about history, please feel free to correct me.

so after... multiple delays because it took me a while to come up with prompts... brufonse week 2020 is upon us! look! i even made a fancy graphic for it! anyway as the fancy graphic says, this year it’s september 14th through the 18th!

this year’s prompts are a little different. we still have the two paired words from last year (and again they’re meant to go with each other, loosely) but we ALSO... have aus for each day. minus the free day where there’s no prompts whatsoever. while the paired words are meant to be loose opposites (the only real exception is blue and purple but you can probably guess why those two are together) the aus were just kind of randomly assigned to each day, and i got the aus in the first place through a random generator

anyway, if for whatever reason you can’t read the prompts on the graphic, the prompts this year are as follows

a: that’s more manageable for most people than a full 7! i’ve seen ship weeks done both ways in the past so it’s not too weird or unusual

q: do i need to stick to the prompts?

a: it’d be nice, but i’m not gonna insist upon it or anything

q: what’s the purpose of the aus, why are they separate from the other prompts?

a: okay so i was envisioning it like you’d take one of the words and Maybe Also the au to come up with your piece. but like i said i’m not going to insist people stick to the prompt list, you can kind of do whatever. do the aus if you want or don’t, do them in addition to or instead of the paired word prompts if you want. i’m not gonna complain any way

q: do i have to do the full week?

a: nah, do what you want to do or can do, i’ll just be glad you participated

okay so to clarify on a couple things with the timeline stuff (like events in it)!

generally, if the character is around adriens age, they’re available. certain characters can control certain NPCs (kids get their parents or families as npcs, so i would control gabriel and emilie, and potentially nathalie and adriens bodyguard). however, im open to having some others taken. just ask.

the events of the show have been stretched over the course of 4 years, and akumas with episodes are some of the harder akuma that theyve faced / some of the most common ones (mr ramier is a repeat akuma thats easy to defeat, but someone like desperada was an INTENSELY difficult akuma). there are many other, smaller akuma that are more easily handled, and thus not shown on the show itself.

given the out of order episodes of the show, well say the last ‘episode’ that happened was timetagger, occurring in late march.

none of the city specials have happened (new york, shanghai, christmas..?), and the season three finale didnt happen. (chloe deserves to not have her development dumpstered thanks-)

kwami, their magic and guardianship work differently: 

kwami can use magic naturally occurring in the world to boost certain transformations without use of potions; example, if adrien goes into a timeline where magical beings, animal people, and humans all live together, plagg can draw on the ambient magic to turn the Chat Noir transformation into a cat person. (ever played kingdom hearts? if you have, then imagine something like how sora gets a different appearance on a lot of worlds.)

miraculous magic partially hides the identity of their user when transformed. this can vary from person to person, due to how the transformations are decided (which is by what they want and expect from it deep down). once someone fully realizes the wielders identity, the disguising magic doesnt work on them anymore. when used by someone from another timeline/universe, it generally overrides that person’s own magic (if a werewolf, for example, transforms with the miraculous, they wont transform into a werewolf while theyre using the miraculous.)

guardianship; im not going to have it erase the memories of the previous guardian, but havent quite figured out what itll do instead. given the finale/miracle queen didnt happen, though, its not a very big concern.

and there’s what ive already had the other characters do:

i started interacting with @eris-the-phantom-thief early on, thus meaning that Persona stuff has also kinda become a thing here. we can explain that away as a timeline slip, wherein two timelines are close enough to blur some lines. i would simply say an au, but by now, adrien has long since discussed things regarding hana and phantom thieves with others, so well probably have to go with that. (this also allows more opportunities for potential ocs.)

marinette has hung out with hana and adrien on multiple occasions. hana has asked if they were dating and both said no. marinette has had a sleepover with hana and alya (and, potentially, juleka and rose). stuff ive written involving marinette can be found under marimuse on my blog.

alya has done a sleepover with marinette and hana. she has also made an effort to get to know hana, with little success. stuff ive written for alya and anyone else in the class can be found on my blog under classmuse.

ladybug has been working with eris the phantom thief at the pleading of chat noir. she has earned chats trust by giving him a pair of raccoon miraculous earrings that she stole from the louvre, realizing the dangers of miraculous jewels simply sitting in a museum. ladybug is also aware that at least one person knows chat noirs identity, and has an idea of the multiverse, given said person ( @theheartmuncher ) is from another timeline filled with general magic. theheartmuncher has also filled in for chat noir by becoming chat picaro when adrien was transformed into a cat, and when he was akumatized. she is not aware of heart’s identity.

felix is aware of adriens identity as chat noir, due to adrien being a dumbass and mixing up the phone his father gave him, and the personal phone he secretly bought. he has matured since the episodes hes in on the show, and has offered to help maintain the secret by occasionally filling in for adrien while hes chat noir. stuff ive written for felix can be found on the blog under Signed. then, it finally comes to what has happened on the blog.

on may 9th, adrien joined tumblr.

on may 24th, theheartmuncher discovered chat noirs identity.

on june 6th, chat noir encountered eris the phantom thief for the first time.

on july 1st, adrien was turned into a cat by magic anons. theheartmuncher, as chat picaro, explained to ladybug that chat noir was on a trip he couldnt get out of, and he had discovered adrien agreste had been turned into a cat. (how he knew?: adrien stole his phone and managed to type ‘im adrien agreste’ on it.) adrien was legally missing for 24 hours, and was watched closely for two weeks after.

on august 1st, felix discovered he was chat noir.

on august 13th, adrien was akumatized into simulacrum, then was saved by @gardencracks and @daviscatessen coming to paris in spite of him telling them to stay away, and to leave things to ladybug (and, unbeknownst to him, chat picaro). adrien also vowed to move out of the agreste mansion.

on august 15th, eris brought chat noir the raccoon miraculous.

on august 16th, eris met up with ladybug and chat noir to discuss what to do with the earrings.

on august 24th, adrien fully moved into his own apartment. magic anons gave him two cats, one of which was a certified emotional support animal.

on september 8th, gardencracks and daviscatessen brought adrien to a large 18th birthday party they had planned and invited the classmates to. he also dyed his hair pink.

and that is the blog major-event timeline.

i finallyyy got round to posting lol. I'm trying to get out of this slump, trying to read more and sleep well and spend my free time doing things that I actually like doing instead of wasting it on my phone all day // i cleared out some shelves so now there’s empty spaces between my books which are really annoying. hopefully i’ll get some new books soon, i cannot wait to go to a bookshop again.

13th July - What are your plans for the summer?

honestly, i don’t really have anything much planned. i don’t have any school work since it’s the holidays and we weren’t planning to go anywhere abroad, so i’m just at home for now, although i’ll hopefully be able to meet up with some more of my friends.

14th July - Have your plans changed at all because of the pandemic?

yes, we were supposed to go to prague over in april but it was cancelled :( apart from online school and quarantine of course, there aren’t really any other massive changes, apart from my end of year exams being postponed from may to october in the new school year.

15th July - Do you have a specific goal for this summer?

not exactly, i just want to focus on getting my life back on track, as it were. i've been losing focus of the things that actually matter to me in the past few months so i hope to regain control and have a fun summer.

16th July -  Do you have a lot of work to do for school or university or your job this summer?

nope, none at all. my school doesn’t give holiday work which i am really thankful for!

17th July -  What is the most important task that you need to complete this summer?

as i said before, i don’t really have anything to do other than some personal goals that i want i accomplish. actually, the most important thing i need to do is establish my goals...

18th July - What do you usually do in the summer?

sometimes we go on holiday, but we don’t go abroad every year. while i’m staying home i just like to chill and od things like meeting friends or watching a ton of tv.
