"Backdraft may be a minute shorter than Bring It On, but it’s still over three minutes long, and it makes up for the lost minute with a complex form. The “Pressure! Pressure!” might be the only part that truly repeats.
At the beginning, Fuuta is showing off, acting cool. Then the music slows down as he ponders his verdict. Then the music picks up the pace again and gets more and more frantic as the consequences of his actions catch up to him.
See that structure in the three distinct verses that sound nothing like anything else in the song: cool, contemplative, and “oh no, what have I done”.
The “chorus” (burn burn!) never stays the same. You’ve got the “cool” first chorus. Then you have the muted second chorus as it sinks in that Fuuta’s victim was a middle-school girl, which leads into the tense final chorus (which is twice as long as the first) as the victim and Fuuta both burn.
The instrumental and the spoken-word from the beginning combine in the end, changing the mood of the stanza from confident and showy to panicked and desperate.
And the words… You can hear the wordplay in the last stanza, even if you don’t understand it.
Appreciate this chaotic masterpiece of a song."

The only time Es shows up in a prisoner’s MV!!! And they looks so damn cool - Also the entire eye thing referencing the audience, he perceives us lmfao

"Back draft is incredible because it not only has great visual symbolism with the use of the spray cans but its visual symbolism shows a progression from ‘Bring it on’. In ‘Bring it on’ the channelling is glorious , fuuta is surrounded by people and fuuta idealised himself (taller , better teeth , better posture ect) , the people he cancelled were portrayed as these powerful rpg monsters but now in back now the channelling is portrayed as vandalism a crime as destructive , the ally is empty we only ever see others as hands or his victim fuuta is alone and fuuta is no longer idealising his appearance and his mind is now portraying his victim as a harmless cutesy drawing. This shows a change in how fuuta views his crime between T1 and T2. It wasn’t glorious, it wasn't justified , he was at fault. The fire being recontextsied as something out of control , all consuming and out of control which is the opposite of how it was portrayed in ‘Bring it on’ we really see how the vote has changed fuuta."

I kinda realised that Mr Komos' song, True Monster Heart follows the same beat as the Monster High Fright song, but the lyrics are like the corrupted version of the original.
Monster High Fright is about accepting
True Monster Heart is about rejecting
Kinda interesting when you think about it
AHHHHHH WHEN I SAW I GOT AN ASK RELATED TO THIS I FREAKED OUT DFGHNBGVFDSF TY FOR GIVING ME SOMETHING TO RAMBLE SOME MORE ABOUT ANON FOR REAL! (Also sorry for the late response, this post has been developing in my drafts for like at least a week now dfgfhng)
I absolutely agree with the conflicting messages between the two songs! I know the song focuses on the story of this universe's Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde in the main verses, but the main focus of the song is that message of rejection of anything and everything human.
Also, because of the Jekyll/Hyde bits, it could represent the duality of where the story starts and ends in its interpretation of a "true monster heart." Instead of Mr. Hyde's human-ness making his heart "untrue," it was his utter rejection of & research into ridding himself of his Jekyll, as well as his hiding of the truth in the first place that caused him to be found out and exiled.
His heart being "untrue" had nothing to do with the fact he was half-human, because if it were, then Clawdeen and Komos's presence in and of itself within the school would've triggered its self-destruction. That was proven as a false interpretation by the story in the movie, so it's self-explanatory. A true monster heart is one of self-acceptance, despite one's flaws or differences. That's what Mr. Hyde, and Mr. Komos thereafter, had neglected to realize before Clawdeen proved the point.
Though, I've listened to both True Monster Heart and Fright Song a few times back-to-back, to try and get where you're thinking as far as the beat, but I don't hear it unfortunately (unless you meant the tempo of the song, then yes they do follow the same 120 beats per minute!).
The closest thing I can think of as far as melodic parallels between the songs is the chanting sections. The Fright Song chant is much quicker in the way it's sung compared to the chant in True Monster Heart, however. The whole of Fright Song's chant goes in 16 beats/4 measures, whereas True Monster Heart's chant takes twice as long at 32 beats/8 measures (I was a band/choir kid lol). It's mainly due to how the song kinda drags out the point, and it definitely feels like a nod to Fright Song for sure. Fright Song's chant is only there because 4/5 of the main ghouls were fearleaders, so it was sort of characterizing the cast before actually showing their characters in the webisodes.

Fun little headcanon/ramble that I forget if I ever mentioned about Fright Song, but with Holt Hyde being released in the 1st Signature wave with the rest of the the main ghouls and all, I think it was because he's intended to be the singer of the rap section before any subsequent content with the character was released (No offense but I don't think Holt DJs because he's a good singer sdfgbfds). This would line up with his current crush in canon with Frankie, as well as his former crush on Draculaura from either the diaries or books, maybe both? I forget. :'D Also I feel like Holt wouldn't hesitate to call Cleo vile immediately after saying she's charming either, he's very direct with his words. (I also interpret Jackson/Holt as bisexual because Deuce is included in the rap I DON'T CARE Y'ALL IT MAKES SENSE!)
Also I always interpreted the howl-like sound at the end of the rap as "Holt ran outta time/battery power for his music and transforms back to Jackson as it transitions to the rest of the song." It kinda works with how the beat kinda drops down with the howl, like a TV being shut off or something idk.
Ghoulia also debuted with Signature Wave 1 but she's only in like a second of the music video in the background, I figure it could've been budgetary reasons for the animation, to save on animating an extra character. Also I imagine flame-y hair wouldn't be very fun to animate in 2D, and Deuce's snakes moving on their own were bad enough I imagine to animate, so it begrudgingly checks out as to why Holt isn't in the animated bits with everyone else.
BUT I JUST WATCHED THE MUSIC VIDEO BECAUSE I WANTED TO FOR THE SAKE OF THIS POST AND THE GUY SINGING THE RAPPING BIT HAS, YOU GUESSED IT, A BRIGHT FRICKIN NEON RED LEATHER JACKET. He doesn't have the dual-toned shirt BUT IT'S WHITE AND THIS IS CLOSE ENOUGH FOR ME Y'ALL! XD

so i am a bit late to clancy album (bcuz of finals😭) buuut here i am and here are my thoughts while listening to all the clancy songs (and rating them 1-10)
1. Overcompensate: great opener, lyrics are a little random (but iconic lol), vocals are amazingg (love the piano :3), 8.8/10
2. Next Semester: have literally 0 complaints, fucking love this song, 10/10
3. Backslide: vocals are great, but the beat could've been more energetic imo, love the lyrics, 8.5/10
4. Midwest Indigo: don't feel like the drums match, but i like the rest of the beat, good vocals, kinda 50/50 on the lyrics (start kinda reminds me of Momentz lol), 7.9/10
5. Routines In The Night: very chill honestly, love the vocals & lyrics, (ooh little rat bit :3), beat is nice too, 9/10
6. Vignette: ooh very strong beat at the start, loving the lyrics (ooh little rap bit :3) beat is very nice too :D, 10/10
7. The Craving (Jenna's Version): vocals always a 10, very chill song, and i find it so cute that he's made a song abt Jenna in almost every album, like so sweet, but in a aesthetic factor it doesn't really fit Clancy, soo 8.5/10
8. Lavish: best is majestic asf, not 100% on the lyrics rn but lyrics are very nice ("got both hands on ur shoulder while ur bottomless" WHAT😭🙏), 9.2/10
9. Navigating: love the drums, love vocals, love the rest if the best too, lyrics are fucking amazing, 9.7/10
10. Snap Back: beat kinda reminds me of like those alarms, but in a good way? vocals great ofc, also kinda like the slight switch in beat (ooh loved that buildup too), lyrics are good, 8.9/10
11. Oldies Station: i feel like im being called out. love the vocals, pretty chill beat but i like it :) kinda got a nostalgic vibe to it? 8.6/10
12. At The Risk Of Feeling Dumb: kinda strange beat at the start, but im liking it, actually scratch that this is an amazing beat, vocals are beautiful, ok now where are the cameras, WHY IS THIS SONG LITERALLY ME???, 9.8/10
13. Paladin Strait: omg the finalee :3 vocals kinda remind me of a traditional greek song that id hear in my school's choir? not in a bad way tho, chill beat, omg it's 6 minutes long? holy crap, anyways, very nice lyrics :3 ok wait a sec, will there be a beat switch? omg yes there will!! loving the ukulele, and the softer vocals too :D omg JUMPSCARE what's that voice😭 omg i loved it, 9.5/10
btw these are all my opinions, i am not some kinda specialist i just love tøp and might be neurodivergent so, results may vary lol

Okay, sooo many of my fics are inspired directly by songs! This is so fun.
Here's a Hand, My Trusty Friend was directly inspired by the song "Auld Lang Syne" --Not only does Neal drunkenly sing the song, Peter sings back to him 🥹 The theme of friendship in this song made me think of Peter and Neal---the ultimate friendship ever!
The pair of fics, Even if You Cannot Hear My Voice and I'll Be Right Beside You were inspired by the Snow Patrol song, "Run"
Of COURSE, my fic Moon River, is directly inspired by the song for OBVIOUS reasons. I mean. Peter and Neal are totally huckleberry friends---look up the definition! It's THEM 😭
A Sky Full of Stars surprise surprise was NOT inspired by the Coldplay song of the same name---but it DOES fit nicely. haha. The two songs that actually inspired this were: "If I Loved You" (Carousel) and "Golden Star" by Middle Kids (I heard this on Ted Lass LOL). There is a *specific* part of "If I Loved You" where Billy looks up at the sky and says "There's a hell of a lot of stars in the sky and the sky's so big, the sea looks small. And two little people, you and I, we don't count at all"---this part inspired the entire fic. I dunno. just the thought of two people who love each other experiencing that awe of the universe spoke to me and Peter and Neal needed to have that. 😂
Take My Heart with You was directly inspired by "My Heart with You" by Pentatonix. GAHHH THIS SONG. Even looking at it platonically, it fits Peter and Neal *so* well 🥺
A Light in the Darkness lol you guessed it, another Pentatonix song. It gave me the spark to write the fic: "A Light in the Hallway" I first imagined Peter singing this to *SPOILERS* his son, but then I was like...but.....what if Peter and Neal were lights to EACH OTHER 😭
This Life is Most Jolly was inspired by the bard's song "Blow Blow Thou Winter Wind" in Shakespear's As You Like It. I sang this song in my high school choir and just loved the words and message. and again, we have drunken Neal wailing it at the top of his lungs after a fight with Peter haha Peter also sings "No Place Like Home for the Holidays" at the end. Can you tell I love the boys singing together? I HAVE A PROBLEM
Let this Last Forever is basically a fic version of the Cody Fry song "Photograph" --which I cannot listen to without SOBBING. Naturally, I had to let these feelings out on Neal looking at Peter with love. of course. 😎
AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST:
In my current chapter fic, Pulchrae Alis (Beautiful Wings) , the final few chapters and the scene I wrote the entire fic for LOL was inspired by "Flying" by Cody Fry. 🥹

My Will Wood album cover ranking and my thoughts about them :3
ATTENTION ATTENTION, RAMBLING AHEAD, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED
10th place: The real Will Wood (2020)

I don't really like album covers where the focus is just on like. a dude
I like the lighting and the funeral motifs, and the cover kinda represents the plot of the movie, how Chris gets consumed by/obsessed with the personality of Will Wood
But still, I don't like the cover enough for it to be higher in my ranking
9th place: Everything is a lot (Remastered) (2020

I mean, I like it, but it's just a more bland (colorwise) version of the original, isn't it? Gonna talk more about it later on ;3
8th place: Camp Here & There: The soundtrack (2021)

Not a big fan of minimalism, but I do like the composition. The sky rieseling down like the sand in the clock is REALLY clever depicted (/genuine) (/impressed). I also like how the warm colors clash with the coldness around, reflecting the plot of the podcast (imo), but still, too much empty space for my liking.
7th place: "In case I make it, (2022)

It's ok, don't like the color composition tho. The moon (I think that's supposed to be the moon) (not sure), and the cheese. I like the nod to Tomcat Disposables (Is there cheese in the great beyond?/What's the moon made of?/Meet me there after I'm gone...), because it is my favorite lyric in the song, but I'm not sure if it really encapsulates the meaning of the album yknow? I like the style of the cover, symbolizing this big schizm in Wills music style with it's not so fucked up look, but couldn't the cover have been something that looks like it isn't just a cover for Tomcat Disposables?

It's silly (/sillious) (/in a good way) :3 The black and white really fit this album I think, idk why tbh. This cover was originally planned for In case I make it and I would have liked it if it would have stayed with In case I make it, but oh well.
5th place: Everything is a lot (2015)

The green-ish touch really adds to the cover. I love how the face breaks apart :3. Wills paisley art is just so pleasant to look at. And the brain trying to re-wire itself at the top is a nice detail :D im scared of the worm
4th place: The Normal Album (2020)

As I said, covers where the focus lies on a Dude™ aren't what I like, but. But as this is a parody of the 50s - 60s era of album covers I can close a second eye. Talking about eyes, why are Wills eyes so big here? A deer in the headlights of life (/so deep) (/sarcastic). The cover perfectly shows the motifs of the album, the crushing life in a society where you need to be exactly like the others (the coat and tie he wears), trying to rebel against it (personalizing of the tie), but still having to keep the social standards (greeting the neighbors even though they most likely hate you for your rebellion), and trying to cope with not being able to be like the others (I don't know how to explain this point I was trying to explain). This cover screams about a world of white picket fences and potlucks
3th place: SELF-iSH (2016)

It's so vibrant :3, I love Hypagognia 3 (the background art) (or is this Hypagognia 2) (idk). The guy being made out of a collage (the picture thing, not the school) of various parts of Wills painted body reflecting the motifs of the album, how there is no static "self" and that one can choose to not have one I mean. Kinda ironic how Will said "The world doesn't revolve around you, so don't revolve round someone else" in Missanthropologyst, while here the world literally revolves around him (yes I know the scissors will separate him from the world, but it has not yet succeeded 😼)
2econd place: SELF-iSH (Remastered) (2020)

The cover of the live album recorded in Roxy & Dukes, the recordings were then later used for The real Will Wood. The SELF-iSH guy returned! The collage-y paisley art, the colors, I need to get this cover into my bloodstream somehow. Hands down best cover there is, not that much explanation behind it for me. If this would have been in color it would have been at 9th place I think, but without colour it's perfect.
These are my thoughts about Will Wood[('s) and the tapeworms'] album covers. I only did Will Wood, but maybe I could make a ranking of the pre-tapeworms-era-bands album covers, idk yet.

hi raven :D! I think you've spoken about twst and languages in their world, so I was wondering if you've ever had a discussion about the possibility of a "merfolk language"? obviously they can speak the universal language of the twst world, but do you think they could have a native language too, consisting of something more adapted to living under the sea and thus more inhuman (clicks, growls, etc)? like one that maybe humans can't even hear because human ears have a limit on what they can hear or something like that? I think it's a fun little headcanon but maybe it's just because I am the type to enjoy blatant inhuman traits in inhuman characters 👉👈 (like azul still being able to barf up ink as a human, and the tweels still have a pharyngeal jaw even after taking their human pills)

Yes, I’ve talked about language in Twisted Wonderland many times ^^ (Please see the linked posts above if you’re interested in the discussion!)
I don’t think we’ve considered a language for merpeople in detail before?? 🤔 It’s a weird grey area (the same as with any theoretical“beastman” languages) since the race is half human and half animal; Animal Languages already exists as their own separate entity, and then we have the various languages of other groups (we learn in Fairy Gala: If that smaller fairies communicate in sounds that resemble jingling bells, people in the City of Flowers speak “French” like Rook does, Epel’s hometown appears to speak its own language that his classmates find difficult to understand, etc). I wonder if this would mean that a merpeople language would be a marriage of an animal language and a human language, or if it would be less of a whole new language and more of a dialect which combines mannerisms and grammatical rules from both sources???
I’m pretty sure I’ve mentioned or written about “Mermish” in some of my own fics! I usually describe it as very flowy and lyrical, like the words just spill into each other and you don’t know when one word ends and when another starts. Basically, it’s less like speaking and more like music. This version of the language is ingrained in siren lore (you know, singing prettily to lure sailors to their doom 😂) rather than the practical lore (ie the more animalistic sounds to navigate the dark, treacherous waters of the deep), but I enjoy both interpretations and find them equally as valid! I do think that the language would probably be audible to a human though how else would their prey be drawn in???. Humans don’t have the most sensitive hearing ever, but you’d be surprised just how much our ears can sense!
There hasn’t been any indication in the lore (at least as far as I can tell) of there being a whole other language or dialect specifically for merpeople, so the idea is just speculation. I’d think if there were to be any proof of this, then we’d probably hear Azul talk about how beneficial it is to know many languages, as this could help his business flourish. Even a mention from Floyd would work, as he does mention (again, during Beans Day) that he, Jade, and Azul went to a month-long camp on land to learn about life in the world above. There wasn’t a mention of having to pick up on a new language (and a month isn’t long enough to become conversational anyway). In any case, very few merpeople are said to come to the surface (for work, for schooling, etc), so it seems unlikely to me that underwater schools would make the theoretical “common tongue” of Twisted Wonderland an educational requirement for young merkids. I’d think the merkids would have to actively seek out and study the “common tongue” as a second language if they plan to pursue a career on land. But already knowing the language cannot be a prerequisite for the camp, since it is said the program was eager to accept the Octatrio (which makes it sound like getting into it is very easy to do).
So I guess my line of thinking is… If merchildren were required to learn the common tongue, it makes sense why the training camp didn’t include language. However, this doesn’t make much sense to begin with because why have that linguistic curriculum if it’s assumed most merpeople won’t engage with the world of land? In the opposite scenario (in which merchildren aren’t required to learn the common tongue), why wouldn’t there be curriculum on language in the camp? Already knowing the common tongue doesn’t seem to be requirement for the camp, since the lore makes it sound like the camp is desperate to take people in (due to most merpeople not having an interest in living/studying/working on land).
Let me tell you, trying to figure out half human, half fish anatomy and physiology is not how I thought I’d be using my brain cells 😂

Muse Disc Guide - Showbiz [STYLE Series #004 - Muse (August 2010)]

IN MUSIC
In the UK in 1999, dance and idol music dominated the scene. This trio emerged in the midst of such a rock slump and brought new life and hope to the scene with their rich creativity and solid musicianship, which were not typical of newcomers.
At the time of making this album, their average age was just over 20. However, for the three, who had been playing together in a band since junior high school, this was their first album. Most of the songs on the album were written over the span of several years. Seven of the songs (2/ Muscle Museum, 5/ Cave, 7/ Unintended, 8/ Uno, 9/ Sober, 11/ Escape, 12/ Overdue) have already been released on rare EPs from their former label, Dangerous (although the recording times and versions were different).
The growth they have achieved since their formation is in direct proportion to the variety of music they have absorbed during that time. From classical to boogie-woogie, Matthew's musical origins lie in the piano, Dom started playing drums after jazz, and Chris has played guitar, keyboards, drums and a variety of other instruments. They started playing in bands around 1992, just as the grunge wave was blowing, but they also digested melodic punk, grebo, goth, alternative metal and more.
What ultimately defined their uniqueness was Matthew's insatiable inquisitiveness and omnivorous tastes. At the age of 17, Matthew wandered around Europe, getting to know the folk music of different regions and later learning to play the Spanish guitar. In his late teens, he returned to classical piano, including Chopin and Rachmaninoff, while the influence of Jeff Buckley became evident in his melancholic melodies and emotional singing style with a deft use of falsetto. This album, which has all of this in its blood, is a debut that is still in its infancy compared to their second and later albums, which fully developed their unique personalities, but it is diverse and accomplished enough to show their potential. The coexistence of the dramatic contrasts of movement and stillness, as well as the coexistence of the intense emotion and elegant romanticism represented by (3/ Fillip), can be said to be the cornerstone of the ‘Muse’ style. —Imai Sumi

1999 Hit Albums
The year 1999, when Showbiz was released, was actually a bad year for UK bands. The year was dominated by idol/pop acts. This was epitomised by the debut album (A/ …Baby One More Time) by Britney Spears, the biggest pop icon of the following decade. The video for ‘Baby One More Time’, featuring a high-school girl in a super-mini, navel-baring look, is still burned into people's brains as a powerful impression. It was also the year Christina Aguilera made her album debut. Other so-called boy band albums such as Backstreet Boys, Westlife, and Boyzone topped the charts across the board, while S Club 7 and Steps also became regulars in the UK charts.
In the US, Red Hot Chilli Peppers' (B/ Californication), which Muse also opened for, proved overwhelmingly strong, while Limp Bizkit, who debuted with (C/ Significant Other), raised the signal for the rise of Nu Metal. Eminem, who debuted with (D/ The Slim Shady LP), later became a major force on the chopping block of Limp and the aforementioned Britney. Among these, the few successful albums by young UK guitar bands were Travis‘ (E/ The Man Who), which replaced the loud Rock'n'Roll of their debut with a more melancholic sound, and Stereophonics’ (F/ Performance and Cocktails), which was a straight-up rock hit. Although Muse were initially compared to the likes of Radiohead, they were quite unique in the scene. That hasn't changed even now, though.

IN LYRICS
As a debut album, the lyrics are very much Matthew in his local Teignmouth days. A prime example is (4/ Falling Down), which even gives the population/household numbers: ‘15,000 people scream’ and ‘5,000 houses burning down’. The city's status as a holiday destination for Londoners, a city that makes its living by serving tourists, combined with its recent desolation, made adolescent Matthew feel like a core of losers in a society of inequality. It was self-evident to Matthew that ‘no one can save this city’, and not only in this song, but also in the protagonists of the lyrics, there is a tendency to try to escape or hide somewhere.
(1/ Sunburn) is also attributed to a local story, and here too we can see the composition of a disparate society: ‘the winners who spend a lot of money on a tourist attraction that seems to be a kind of women's dance show’. The image of the ‘Sunburn’ = tanning is also associated with ugly adults for Matthew, but it could also be interpreted as a form of the money-grubbing music business. Although wrapped in a thinly veiled mask, there is no way to hide the nervous state of mind before the debut, and the world is formed by ‘me’ who restrains himself and clowns around, and ‘you’ who indulges his desires. Track (6/ Showbiz), exudes the blue anxiety of the night before stepping into the real showbiz.
In an interview during his first visit to Japan, Matthew said, ‘There were alcoholics roaming around in my hometown’, and (9/ Sober), in which several brands of whisky are interwoven, does not deny such drunks, but rather describes the effects of alcohol on the mind and body in a rock-like manner. The casual love for one's hometown can also be read into this, and the half-love-hate feelings towards one's hometown overlap with the split state of what is known in Japan as ‘chuunibyou/middle-school second year syndrome’. This was the first film to be made in 16 years. - The Treaty of Amsterdam enters into force. - Opening of Safeco Field (later renamed to T-Mobile Park in 2018) in the US. June - Sony launched AIBO, a puppy-shaped pet robot. The price was 250,000 yen. July - Muse's North American tour started. - The All Nippon Airways Flight 61 hijacking incident occurred, in which the captain was stabbed to death and the perpetrator took control of the aircraft. August - Muse's Germany tour started. September - A M7.7 (7.3 in Richter scale) earthquake occured in central Taiwan, with a death toll of over 2,000 (1999 Jiji earthquake). October - Muse's European tour starts. First album Showbiz released with John Leckie. - The Fukuoka Daiei Hawks won the Japan Series. November - First parliamentary party leadership debate (in Japan). [aka Japan’s first time in trying out the British-style Question Time] December - Macau returned from Portugal to China and the Panama Canal from the USA to Panama.
Translator's Notes: This has way more research required to know what happened in a single year of 1999. The next few albums to cover are going to be quite the effort to cover through.

An older tune spilled from the phonograph in the back of the room, filling the quiet crypt with a liveliness that normally wasn't felt here. It was a mid-tempo song, but the lyrics fell unheard on your ears. You were too busy.
Grimora held your hands in hers, cool against your skin, as she pulled you into a dance. Of course she led, she was the taller party, and you were too lost in the moment to lead besides. She turned and guided you in what felt like a version of ballroom-dancing, music playing on behind you. Out of the corner of your eye, you saw the ghouls pausing to appreciate the music.
The Scrybe's dress swished as she pulled you a bit closer, and you felt your chest warm with adoration when you met her gaze and saw her smile. While she maintained a 'proper' attitude with the other Scrybes, you and her ghouls all knew different. She had a warmth that she hid beneath her work… but not from you.
A laugh escaped you as Grimora extended her arms to carefully spin you in a circle. She answered with her own ethereal laugh. "Dearest, you make even this old lady feel young again," she cooed.
You made a dismissive noise. “Youth is a myth," you replied, "It comes from within."
Her laughter raised by an octave; you must have caught her by surprise. "Cheeky of you, my angel," Grimora hummed.
The song was drawing to a close and she took the opportunity to place her palm to your back and dip you slightly. You both took a moment to look into each other's eyes, soft smiles on your faces. Then Grimora leaned down and gently placed her forehead to yours, her glowing eyes fluttering closed. You closed your own, inhaling deep of her subtle, flowery perfume.
You wished this moment could last forever.
Leshy x GN!Reader
Oh, this was perfect. You held still, save for the slow lift of the camera in your hands. You peered through the shutter, steadying the shot. On the other end of the viewfinder was a beautiful russet fox, rooting through the forest undergrowth in search of prey. Steady, steady…
Just as it looked up, you took the shot. Amazing. The fox continued its search, still unaware of your presence for the moment. You lowered the camera, taking the instant picture from the slot and waving it to let it develop. When you looked at it, you swore it belonged on the cover of a nature magazine.
"Excellent framing."
You nearly startled and dropped the camera. "Geez!" you hissed, causing the fox to scurry into the brush, "Leshy…!"
He chuckled at your reaction. He did so relish sneaking up on you, it was so easy due to his command of the forest. "I suppose that answers what you are doing with my spare camera, then."
You frowned up at the huge figure beside you, but it was pretty hard to stay mad when his eyes were crinkled with amusement at you. Your frown turned to a smile as you lifted a small bag from your hip. "There were so many creatures around, I just wanted to give it a try," you explained, pulling out the other photos you'd deemed as keepers. A sparrow mid-flight, a school of fish in a shining stream, a rabbit alert from your presence, among others.
Leshy took them delicately from your hands, looking them over with an appraising eye. He hummed approvingly, singling out the bird photo. "You have a photographer's eye," he commented before lifting a brow, "Are you certain you aren't aiming to replace me?"
He pulled a laugh out of you with that. "I'd never dream of it," you replied, taking the photos he offered and putting them away. You smiled up at the Scrybe of Beasts. "You could always guide me, though. Learning at the elbow of the master should be interesting!"
He seemed intrigued by that. "Ah, flattery," he mused, then placed his broad palm on your head, "Fine, you have swayed me." Leshy let his hand drop, but not before brushing the back of one finger against your cheek subtly. "But you shall listen and obey, I will not repeat myself."
He was trying to act commanding, but his tone lacked that edge. He sounded more fond than anything. "Yes, sir Scrybe," you teased back.

In future productions maybe "You'll love it" will be censored and such that thing and all that stuff. but if that happens one day will you guys try to change the lyrics or something, or use the version where "You'll never get away" which has some of the lyrics of "You'll love it"?

First off, I've seen high school productions of Chicago, and middle school productions of Рэг Долли (Rag Dolly). I don't think there's any reason to censor the lyrics, you'd just tone down the energy and the choreography, like you would for any show that has a similar song (and there are a LOT of them on Broadway that then make it to smaller theaters). A less-skimpy costume and less-suggestive acting goes a long way here.
Secondly, we've actually made some effort in our proposed script revisions to preemptively give Bat a different motive. She's attempting to lure him in with the promise of joining their crew, and getting to do whatever he wants. The sexual subtext is still there, but is more optional on how much an individual production leans into it. It would no longer be the only thing the lines are leaning on, if that makes sense. In this case, none of the lines in the song are changed, only a couple before it.

Bare: A Pop Opera song saga- #2 You and I
The set-up to Jason and Peter's relationship is genius; the way Jason continuously addresses people with his straight-man act only to turn around and flirt with Peter in private is such a smooth switch, Peter finds it hard to fully believe.
Jason is very composed and smooth in this song- he deteriorates from easily being able to keep up his facade as the musical progresses. Peter is unable to really connect with him here BECAUSE of this straight-man facade, which frustrates him and makes him want to come out alongside Jason. The line "I think we're the best act this school has ever seen!" really shows Peter's desperation regarding having to stay closeted and Jason's facade but Jason makes a sex joke to avoid discussing it. Jason cuts Peter off with innuendos and light-hearted reassurances throughout the song (and a kiss at the end), in a way having the facade intervene in his personality in his relationship with Peter. It brings up the theme of how after acting for so long, the lines between truth and act can start to blur and leave you disoriented about who you are and how to go on. Jason ends up unable to deal with this dilemma (combined with his several other dilemmas that contribute to this dilemma).
Jason's internalised homophobia really plays through with his claims of not acting (since drama in general is a gay stereotype) and his subtle linking of general dodgy behaviour with his relationship- his opening lines calling Peter for a ride, lollipop or puppy- could POSSIBLY (this is relatively far-fetched) show this as well since gay people are often stereotyped by homophobes to be predators (it doesn't really make sense to me how this came to be, I credit genius lyrics with this part of the analysis by the way, but homophobia as a whole doesn't make sense, does it). Usually one would associate asking a "little boy" if he wants something like a lollipop with predatory behaviour, and Jason may have an underlying association of queerness with-- that. The implications suck, but this is mostly contextualising initial thoughts about the wording in this song.
The modulation in the chorus on "I'll be with you always" really stands out due to the sudden melody that goes down the scale in contrast to the previous verse in the chorus. This could be done for multiple reasons- it could be percieved as an add-on because it just comes in at a higher pitch like an extra romantic phrase to stop Peter from objecting; which leads to Peter objecting more, if that's how he percieved the line. Or it's Jason stressing his love for Peter and how sincerely his love (so basically him) will prevail forever. Or maybe the downwards melody from D to F# signifies how downhill that plan's going to go. I'm no music genius though, so of course take this with a bucket of salt.
The 2000 version has me on this one honestly, with the "besides I need you for French"/"yeah you do" exchange and the extended Jason segment talking about his future in a sense, it feels really natural and I really like how chill it is and then descends into frustration, and it's so clear to us why he's frustrated.
"What do you call this then, this clever song and dance?" "What are you taking about?" "US!" Like, guys-- this also links to Role of a Lifetime, when Peter talks about Jason dancing and hoping the music won't stop. It's all clever until the music stops and he has to make a decision (think the events of Promise).
Peter feels a bit more cynical in the 2000 version than any future version, like he is so having to hold back from swearing at Jason mid-conversation and that to me feels more natural than the 2004 and 2013 (LA) versions, even though I love those too. They're all brilliant! But Peter has a vibe of being a bit more openly bitter but in a way meant to seem light-hearted, and I enjoy seeing him get to feel that way. It feels like repression but just to a less extent than Jason, and it means something to me for that. That being said, I do prefer the change from. "I take your hand, leaving me breathless", to, "you take my hand, leaving me breathless", because it emphasises the effect Peter has on Jason specifically as opposed to the focus being mostly on Jason. It's Peter's action and Jason's feeling rather than Jason's action and Jason's feeling, which feels more like Jason's talking about their relationship rather than just Jason.
Anyways, appreciate the drums! I know it's a pop opera but the rock music is part of what truly elevates this musical for me.

I have a specific way of breaking up paragraphs when I'm trying to emphasize things that sounds lyrical in my head. I've ignored a few of your beta suggestions to change them, because It Sounds Right This Way lol

24. Worst writing advice anyone ever gave you?
I've got 2 things.
A very specific piece of feedback I got from my teacher in a creative writing class when I was in high school made me stop writing altogether for 14 years. I wrote a sad story about grief, and the teacher said it was too sad and that I should change the ending. When I tried to explain that it was supposed to be sad, she said "no one wants to read that" and I was like ok well I give up.
In general, I fucking haaaate any time someone tells me that I'm struggling to write because I'm improving and now I can see all the flaws. First of all, fuck off. Second of all, okay so what's the advice?? It doesn't help to know without getting some advice on how to get past it? THIS IS NOT ADVICE, AND IT IS NOT COMFORTING.

Oh oh oh, this is a fun question!
In Reaching Out I am vibrating out of my shoes to get to the Arishok fight. Literally everything revolves around that scene. It's important to Hawke, it's important to his romantic relationships with Fenris and Anders, it's going to be bloody and scary and I CANNOT WAIT. Unfortunately, I cannot write out of order, and it is my carrot on a stick scene, so I can't share too much of it publicly or my brain will be like "ok done" and I'll never get back to it. But you know 😁
I've got a few scenes I'm looking forward to in The Sun, The Moon, and The Night. I'm planning a scene where Astarion has to rescue Kes and Cael, and he ends up very badly hurt in the process. Worse than he thinks, because he's used to being able to heal faster than he can with the tadpole. Also, there's a scene in Act 2 where Astarion gets to witness just how powerful Kestrel's magic is when he brings rain to the shadowlands for the first time in 100 years, but it's for a sad reason that I hope makes people cry. Also, like, ALL of Act 3. SO MUCH fun stuff in Act 3. Including the introduction of the 3rd Tav brother 😆

I should probably preface this with the fact that I … don't really listen to music. I mean. I do? but only when I'm learning a language, obsessed for other reasons (songs connected to a shows I love, etc), or trying to drown out other noise out. I don't even have a spotify account.
That said, here are a few songs I've listened to often enough that I can sing along to them by now or even know them by heart. This selection ended up kind of sappy, lots of ballads … l do listen to rock and hip hop, too! but those don't feature that heavily in the shows as much, unless it's Tilly Birds and while I LOVE Tilly Birds, I figure everyone already knows them.

1. 邓丽君 《月亮代表我的心》 (Teresa Teng "The Moon represents my heart")
This is a bit of an odd one – I'd known it for 12 years at the point Moonlight Chicken unveiled it as a theme song, because it's a CLASSIC. I cannot make claims about whether it's a song every Chinese person knows, but it's definitely one of those songs every person who learned Mandarin Chinese as a foreign language in the past 50 years knows. It's heartfelt. It's devastatingly simple. It's an evergreen. I love it to bits.

2. 25hours ไม่เคย (Never)
This doesn't actually make an appearance as more as a mention: Pat suggests it as a song to play for the Christmas concert in one of the flashbacks to Pat and Pran's high school days in Bad Buddy. I was (still am, arguably) obsessed with the show, so I sought it out, and it hit me like a freight train, because ouch. This was the first Thai song I learned to sing by heart, and I love it lots, still.

3. 宇多田ヒカル 「Prisoner of Love」 (Utada Hikaru)
Since we're talking queer shows in general, I get to include this! "Prisoner of Love" is the theme song to one of my all-time favourite shows, "Last Friends" (2008). It's also a really lovely one for karaoke.

THE Love of Siam song. Stuck with me. I prefer the version in the movie, but dang, this is still powerful as all get out.

The entire soundtrack to ITSAY and IPYTM is FIRE, but I had to go with the OG classic here. First song I tried to copy the lyrics out for in Thai. The Chinese version is also gorgeous.
