I’m starting a new series on this page called “Episodes of the Owl House we could have had if Disney wasn’t a little bi-”

Weird, my internet cut out. ANYWAY.

I present to you: the concept of a much longer rebellion (as in, one where Eda and her family get to join the CATTs more than a week before the DOU), where the rebels actually had time to bond and build relationships. Here are some potential side plots for your reading/writing pleasure.

Katya and Luz, bond over their love of writing and fanfiction. However, in a series of unfortunate events, they manage to bring their stories to life and have to deal with them. Raine and Eda come home to find their girls standing on the kitchen counter with a bat and a knife respectively, attempting to fight a bowl of fruit.

Hunter, after getting dropped off unceremoniously by Darius, is stuck in a house* with Lilith and Steve and slowly begins to open up to them. Bonus points if after a day’s worth of fighting and Steve playing the middle man, he comes home to Hunter napping in Lilith’s lap and is incredibly confused.

The senior members of the CATTs go out on a mission and leave the younger half of the kids (King, Luz, Amber and Hooty) under the supervision of the older three (Hunter, Katya, and Derwin). Chaos ensues.

Steve’s family (including Mattholomule) comes to visit him on what they think is his one day off. Steve, not wanting to admit he’s left the coven and joined a rebellion, begs the other members of the CATTs to help him hide it. They’re not very good at it.

Raine and Eda attempt to each spend a day bonding with each other’s kids. That’s it, that’s the headcanon. Have fun.

BEACH EPISODE!!!!!

Luz attempts to plan the perfect date with Amity and goes to each member of the CATTs for advice. They all give her wildly differing suggestions and she’s left to try and piece them all together into one coherent idea.

*Steve and the BATTs (excluding Raine) stay with Eda’s family throughout all of this, since Darius, Raine, and Eber all have to be undercover as coven heads and have to stay in the palace.

OK, so on one hand, it kinda sucks that a lot of the ex-candidates on the Island are immediately turning to rebellion instead of just talking things out with Forever. Whatever happened to Qommunication SMP

On the OTHER hand, they're pretty right about Forever not being a good person to be president. Last time he was put in a high-pressure leadership position (leader of the Ordem during Cellbit's villain arc) he,,, did not do well. Like he held the Ordem together, but just barely. It took a serious toll on Forever's mental health, so much so that he snapped under the pressure and attacked Leo. He was really happy to give leadership back to Cellbit. Now he's president of the entire ISLAND with the Feds breathing down his back? I hope I'm wrong, I love Forever, but I don't think leadership is his strong suit

Wizard Of Oz Disney AU plotpoints

Unexpected Free Time strikes, and so I decided to do this early.

So before we get started, this isn’t going to be a case of someone flying in from a new world, this is all staying in Oz, so no “it was all a dream” stuff. And there are gunna be skips and gap points because I haven’t gotten this fully fleshed out yet, and not heavily detailed so… ah well. Here we go.

Minnie Mouse is a Munchkin, and Munchkinland kinda sucks

Every day, everyone hands their job to someone else – being Special and Unique and Very Good at something is frowned upon, seen as very rude, why would you WANT to be different???

Minnie wants to learn magic – more specifically, she wants to be a Grand Witch, the ones who govern all of Oz and are the strongest magic-users. She wants to use this power to help people, and to see more of the world than her oppressive and boring Munchkinland

In order to do so, she has to enroll in a special academy all the way in Emerald City, but also needs the Mayor’s permission to do so – which isn’t easy when the Mayor changes every goddamn day

TBF the Mayor, Munchkinland and all of Oz is kinda going through it – The Grand Witch Of The West, Magica De Spell has begun an uprising/invasion/rebellion, attacking other lands, and trying to usurp the Grand Warlock Of The North, Scrooge McDuck. So even people who like Minnie are like “why would you wanna get involved in that?!”

But luckily in a few days they’re expecting a visit from the Grand Witch Of The South, Daisy Duck. Minnie hopes she can leave a good impression on her and maybe get a one-way ticket to Emerald City!

Also she has a dog, Pluto, our Toto

On the day of Daisy’s visit, Minnie keeps trying to meet her but Circumstances prevent it, though she does notice Daisy is Very Tired and kinda moody

That night Minnie sneaks out of her house to try and see Daisy one more time BUT DRAMA

A three-way-witch fight! The Grand Witch Of The East, Magica’s own mother, Evelina, and Daisy are fighting off Magica, lots of hateful accusations being thrown, lots of property damage

Minnie wants to help, and maybe this can prove she’s ready for Emerald City? So she tries some of the magic she’s been practicing in secret, Wind Magic!

It starts small at first but when the other three take notice, suddenly it winds up into a tornado

It picks up an empty house and down goes Evelina

Minnie, of course, is horrified as fuck and begins hysterically sobbing and apologizing, running to the house to see if she can maybe save the squished witch – who is wearing silver slippers

Daisy and Magica seem awfully OK with Evelina being dead

But once she’s close enough, MAGIC HAPPENS and now all of a sudden she’s wearing the slippers, and can’t get them off

Now Magica LOSES HER SHIT and demands the shoes, saying they are meant to be hers, threatening screaming almost crying, but those things ain’t coming off, and Magica finally leaves but not after making some vague warnings

Daisy does her best to comfort Minnie who has been through Some Shit in the last ten minutes, but she can’t get them off either. She suggests the one who can is Scrooge, since his magic is the strongest, and even offers to escort her there

But the shoes ain’t having it, they have a mind of their own, and insist on walking their own path – a golden yellow brick road which forms as Minnie walks

Minnie and Pluto head off, and Minnie swears she can hear a voice in her head thanks to the shoes, but can’t tell who it is

Meanwhile, Magica’s at her Castle, and her Three Familiars offer to snatch Minnie and the slippers, she gives some vague responses

Eventually they come across a scarecrow, but wait, that’s not a scarecrow! It’s a boy tied up to a wooden post with a cloth bad filled with straw stuffed over his head

His name is Mickey and he comes from a local village, he too wants to be a Knight, someone who guards witches and warlocks, but he’s failed the test so many times his schoolyard bullies tied him up like this

He has a short-term memory issue and sucks at testing, and laments he will probably never be able to take the test again since he’s failed it so many times (Brain)

Minnie suggests he come with her, surely if they talk to Scrooge he can give Mickey an exception and he can take the test again

During this entire conversation he’s been stuck with the bag on his head btw, and Minnie’s about to untie him when one of the Three Familiars attacks! The Crow Lady, who commands a small army of crows

Minnie doesn’t want Mickey to get hurt so she intends to shield him with her body, and that’s when the shoes “activate” – whole magical girl transformation sequence – brand new silver look, and she manages to use her wind magic in a more precise way with the “voice” guiding her

As they fight, Mickey frees himself, and he and Minnie get a good first look at each other

Instant dokidokis

But they combine their efforts and send Crow Lady flying, ha ha

They’re off to see the wizard

They arrive at a very technologically advanced city, Mortimer’s there and he hits on Minnie, boo

They meet Ludwig who is fascinated by the silver slippers and invites the two to stay at his place for the night

He shows them his latest project, an android that’s supposed to be as close to a person as possible… but it can also fly and shoot lasers because why not, Ludwig’s a nutter

Then the Next Familiar attacks, Wasp Lady, whose wasp army attacks the city demanding Minnie come out and fight

She does, but during one hit she lands on the button that activates the android, it’s Donald!

Donald and Minnie team up to defeat Wasp Lady, but Donald reveals Minnie “woke him up” before all of his assets could be downloaded. He doesn’t have/understand emotions (Heart), and Ludwig’s out of funding to repair all the stuff that was destroyed during the fight

Minnie suggests maybe Scrooge will give Ludwig funding if they talk to him?

Ludwig is reluctant – once upon a time, Scrooge was Very Cheap and hated to spend even pennies. But he admits ever since Magica’s rebellion he’s been acting super strange and splurging money like there’s no tomorrow

Donald joins the group, we’re off to see the wizard

Check in with Daisy who has been telling Scrooge everything, he’s very cold to her and berates her and even hurts her a little, and Daisy physically cannot make any of this stop for Some Reason

Now they have to pass through a forest/jungle where they get captured by Forest Folk who accuse them of trespassing, but will leave the final judgement for their King

King Goofy isn’t really a king, really, since this isn’t a kingdom, and all the titles are made up, it’s a very silly and lawless land, but since his dad was leader Goofy is expected to be the leader now and make all the big decisions

Everyone’s gunna nutters there too, like Wonderland but with knives

Goofy is too cowardly to make any big decisions, and Minnie suggests maybe if they get Scrooge’s “permission”, he doesn’t have to be King anymore

Attack number three from Flying Monkey Lady, but during this attack it’s revealed Magica used to be adored and revered by the forest folk after she once stopped a deadly forest fire, and they don’t know why everyone hates her now, Flying Monkey calls them all traitors

With Goofy in tow, off to see the wizard

Yay Emerald City! They stop by the Academy, maybe Minnie can enroll after she gets the shoes off? She learns from an instructor that Scrooge and Magica were in the same classes and everything, some people thought of them as friends. Evelina was always interfering in Magica’s school life and was kind of a bitch

Daisy is there to escort them to Scrooge, Donald suddenly grabs her face and goes “Hey did you know you are symmetrically perfect?” because he Does Not Know Social Cues and everyone has to tackle him down to make him stop

Daisy thinks he was hitting on her and she is Very Okay With That

Off they go to see the Wizard. And it turns out he’s kind of a dick? Very condescending and rude and expecting everyone to follow his orders without question.

Can’t get the shoes off, and explains that Minnie has been cursed – it was likely Magica that made Minnie’s wind pick up the Killer House and then cursed the slippers to never come off.

Minnie like “… but she wanted them???” “Yes well Magica’s always been kind of stupid.”

Minnie realizes the voice she’s been hearing in her head/shoes is Scrooge’s! So Something Is Not Adding up

Scrooge says the only way to undo the curse is to kill Magica, so do that and I’ll grant all your wishes

Minnie and the gang DON’T WANT TO COMMIT ACTUAL MURDER WHAT THE FUCK MAN

Well too bad now it’s an imperial order, do it or else

Minnie tries to remain positive, maybe they can just capture Magica or something??? The shoes are leading her on as always

Daisy wants to go with them with Scrooge won’t let her

Off the gang go, and Daisy decides she’ll try to help anyway from the shadows

They encounter the poppy fields, and everyone but Donald falls asleep since, yeah, he’s an android, but he’s frantically trying to wake everyone up

The Three Familiars arrive and scoop up Minnie (and mickey too by accident)

The poppy fields come really alive and try to kill the remaining gang, but Daisy arrives to help them out

She explains she literally can’t tell them everything, but seems very Sure that Minnie and Mickey aren’t in danger

They’ll still go after them anyway obvi

Meanwhile, the mice wake up in Magica’s castle, in a cage, the Three Familiars all gloating and partying woo yeah we did it!!!

Magica arrives and is super pissed off, the fuck did you idiots do, I never said to capture the girl

She sounds all menacing and dangerous, determined to punish the frightened familiars, summoning a huge ton of magic to…

Lock up the fridge “NO DESSERT FOR A WEEK”

The three familiars begin throwing tantrums like small children as Magica goes on AND I KNOW YOU GUYS HAVEN’T BEEN BRUSHING YOUR TEETH, YOUR TOOTHBRUSHES ARE BONE DRY

Minnie and Mickey are...Very confused

Magica explains that while the Three Familiars have the bodies of adults they have the minds of children, cause magic, they very clearly see her as a mother figure

Magica doesn’t let them out now because figures they’ll just go tell Scrooge and he’ll twist it as something evil, and she’s Exhausted

That night the mice sneak out but Minnie’s shoes lead her to a locked-up room that contains an old diary

The shoes Activate again and suddenly she’s walking through memories of Magica’s life!

Evelina was a real bitch indeed, always trying to control Magica’s life like she was some kind of puppet, not letting her have friends or anyone to rely on. She forced Magica to enroll as a Grand Witch just like mom

It wasn’t until the academy days that she met Scrooge and hey Real Friend! Scrooge encouraged her to stand up for herself, and yes Magica did stop that deadly fire and even used her magic to save three badly burnt babes (the familiars)

Years pass and Daisy enrolls, and becomes biffles with Magica, and senses the UST between her and Scrooge even though they definitely deny it

Evelina wants Magica to steal Scrooge’s staff (Every Grand Witch/Warlock has a Grand Conduit for which their greatest magic is stored) but Magica finally has the stones to say no fuck you

Scrooge is the one who made the silver slippers, to be Magica’s Grand Conduit, to encourage Magica to “walk her own path” and there was definitely some crying and cuddling. But they’re not done yet, after they all become Grand he’ll give them to her, promise

But not too long after they become Grand, Evelina has a meeting with Scrooge and suddenly he’s an asshole, giving the slippers to Evelina, and calling Magica all kinds of terrible things

Magica decides fuck this noise and just leaves, but Scrooge and the others framed her for terrible crimes

The memories end and Minnie is just. Sobbing so hard for Magica, she can feel Scrooge’s genuine love for Magica through the shoes

She finds Magica and begs her to come with them to Emerald City, surely they talk they can all sort this out!

Ugh fine, but Magica and the Familiars have to pretend to be prisoners, off they go

They meet up with Donald/Goofy/Pluto/Daisy and explain things but Daisy goes NO FUCK YOU CAN’T COME BACK TO EMERALD CITY!! DO NOT!! And even fights them, but they win and Daisy flees

They go back to Emerald City anyway, and Scrooge wants to know why is Magica alive, Magica wants to know why he’s being an ass, Minnie approaches and just says “look can we just talk”

All the doors shut, Daisy’s there, and that’s when All The Big Reveals Happen

Evelina’s own special magic is Puppet Magic, all she has to do is slip a string into someone and she has total control over them… and she’s been controlling Scrooge and Daisy all this time

She faked her death (she used Minnie’s wind magic as a cover) because she thought Magica was close to figuring something out

But now she can’t let any of them live, not when world domination is so close at hand! So she sends her strings out to try and control all of them, all out brawl, and only Magica and Minnie are left to fight

Magica gets hit with a string, now it’s everyone versus Minnie, and she’s surrounded by strings

Minnie fights them all off as best she can, and realizes her True Magic wasn’t wind at all, but Gravity

She can make things float and crash back down, and make things heavy or light

Kicks ass, takes names

Frees everyone from the strings and ties Evelina up, making the strings so impossibly heavy she can’t get free

With Scrooge back to normal, the slippers can come off easily, emotional reunion, and Magica gets a fancy new silver outfit when she puts on the slippers

Mickey realizes he doesn’t need some test to be a knight, he can protect people all on his own and vows to never let anything like this happen again

Donald realizes he actually does understand emotions, and will spread the word making sure the truth of what happened is known by all

Goofy realizes it’s okay to make mistakes, and it’s better to work as a community than by one person making choices, and wants to have the forest folk work with other lands

Minnie gets to enlist in the academy, and one day take up the mantle that Evelina used to hold

Until then, Scrooge Magica and Daisy will work in unity for that missing piece, and all have great expectations for Minnie

Listen everyone loves Minnie, absolutely everyone, just as it should be

[Magi rewatch] Episode 7: His Name Is Sinbad [Part 3]

Is that your man, half of the Magi fandom?

A small change, in the manga Sinbad was more "consider several options & pick one", here he's just "this is how I see it & I'm gonna stick to it".

Also, gdi, I love these backgrounds.

Aladdin's doubting if they're doing the right thing far more than in the manga. Like, I think in the manga he just... didn't. He was kinda more interested in getting it done & finding Alibaba.

And, tbh, that kinda makes sense? He crossed the desert, he's kinda used to bandits being dangerous and all that.

No, fr, he sounds like he doesn't want to do it, but will do anything to see Alibaba again.

I love him.

Also, I've really said my 3 fav characters were Alibaba, Ja'far & Kouen, and now I'm like I'VE ABANDONED MY BOY. There is another. Sphintus my beloved. Get ready, bc I will spam him in Magnostadt Arc so hard.

This one sounds a bit like the slowed down Enfin Apparu.

In the manga Sinbad just tells them to take what they need, just not to kill anybody. Here he's more encouraging. Not to kill, but, like, in general. The manga was more like giving permission, and here he's telling them "you should take action if you believe what they're doing to be unfair". Which, y'know, is kinda stupid when I think about it. Anime!Sinbad is fucking lucky, because this action could have lead to a political mess, like, bro could've just said that their king sucks & they should fight him. Not a good move, Anime King Sinbad!

Like, I know Sinbad will end up involving himself in internal affairs of Balbadd, but the anime makes it look pretty bad because of this scene. Supporting an existing rebellion is one thing, but encouraging to rebel is a different one.

Also, here Morgiana & Aladdin are searching for Ja'far, cuz they think Sinbad might've been attacked. In the manga it's Morgiana who hears something & informs Aladdin.

There's another thing about Morgiana & her being sidelined in the future - she's rarely singled out, especially later on. But the anime does that already. On the one hand, it's cool to see Morgiana & Aladdin be a team, but on the other, Morgiana oftentimes is viewed as a part of a group, by Alibaba specifically. If he ever thinks about her in the first place. Aladdin and Morgiana. Hakyruu and Morgiana. It's hardly ever just Morgiana.

I've told you! No Aladdin seeing Alibaba, just Morgiana noticing something wrong & informing him, then taking him away from the danger.

Ok, this is something I like. The manga basically infodumps about these swords, but here, it comes up in an actual conversation. "Your red fogblade of illusion horrifying as always, Zainab. / Shut up, and use your yellow fogblade of corrosion, Hassan."

Ok, it's sth I don't think I've commented on the manga read, but Cassim going ??? it's a girl?? Is a mix of "kind of funny", and a nice characterization moment. Both in the anime & manga he looks surprised and kind of guilty. He might be an asshole, but he wouldn't hit a girl. Makes sense, given his backstory.

Also, I'm pretty sure Morgiana's Mariam's age if she, you know, were alive.

Also, that Alibaba with his stupid haor & one eye visible. As if there were any doubts who he was. Well, I get WHY, but in the manga he actually hid his face properly.

Ah, here Cassim just keeps going, in the manga it's Zainab who basically tells him "doesn't matter, she's the enemy!"

Also, another thing I haven't commented on in the manga - Cassim very early shows that he is the real leader. He's the one to take command in this mess, while Alibaba just stands back & watches.

Determination monolog. His priority is Alibaba, he needs to find him, and he needs to deal with these guys to do this.

well, ok, to start, we have a masc appearing person with two voices explaining their thoughts. the first voice, masculine, is expressing a need but inability to control urges within themselves. and yes, that voice as well as the whole song, expresses these urges in terms of "darkness," "demon," "losing control," and "wickedness." but queer people intentionally assuming the role of monster that people place upon them isn't new. the second voice, the freer, more confident, and the main voice for the rest of track, is feminine. i have no doubts that this song was NOT written with trans people in mind. it isn't that the lyrics are about transness, but rather that they can be analogous to a trans experience. "darkness of night falls around my soul," "hunter within," "rage that's inside me," "born in the abyss," "all these thoughts running through my head," "darkness that's within me," "hiding in the shadows," "storm welling inside me." now, yes, the song uses terms of rage and anger. that's not really my experience in life or in my transition. but thoughts and storms and darkness and urges that just will not ever go away? that... kinda was, a bit, yeah. i was never settled or happy as an egg. i could never find peace. and i'm sure there are some trans people who *do* experience their dysphoria as something like rage, instead of malaise. Craddles and holds Gwen......

Mmhh well, Gwen is from USA instead of UK bc i thought that'd kinda fit with a "new gen" vibe, since one is descendant from the other. Also a country accent would be cute, bc like the "main" british accent it's very recognisable. The fact that she fakes the british accent I just thought would be funny, show her dorky side. She likes to have fun!

I decided to make her black bc talking with a lot of woc, specially older sisters, u do see a patttern of.... having to grow up faster? bc of racism and class issues. tbh my own older sibling always felt more like a lowkey parent than sibling. I kinda want to make it clear that Gwen's case isn't one of malicious neglect, it's simply how things are for working class???? You gotta go out to work and feed your kids so if there's an older one you need them making sure the younger(s) are safe. And kids don't always know how to say they're unhappy, the hours away and stress can create a rift between parents and kids. It sucks and obvs a lot of parents don't know how to handle it, and every kid is their own world so not all approaches work...

So with Wendy's main thing being Growing Up it felt a natural choice. U could say that's more based on the ppl i've been/i'm close with.

Gwen's love for lolita fashion is bc I myself love lolita and have a couple dresses and skirts ( •̀ 3 •́ )✧ And the story of lolita fashion is one of defiance against being made into a "suitable" woman for a man. It's rebellion by saying "no, i will dress how i want, which is as a porcelain doll!". It's kinda the opposite of dressing revealing ALSO as rebellion, two sides of a coin if u will! Again it fits into the theme of Gwen reclaiming her narrative and how childish/mature she's allowed to be.

Design wise Gwen actually has an hourglass body with a bit of chub. But most of her outfits conceal the shape! Frills and extra layers, or using thicker fabrics and straight cuts. Her school vest is the latter! Since Gwen knows how to sew she also knows how to get the silouette she wants.

The two buns was also a way to sneak in the two stars in her design! One of her clips is larger than the other, if you look at it. I try to get the star motif on her in outfits bc, the way to Neverland and all that.

Her design with the nightrobe is meant to resemble adult wendy more, bc in the story that's when she stops playing along with Conrad and the rest.

But her actual pajamas underneath are still like org Wendy's dress. In a way how Gwendy really is? She's not as childish as she plays to be, but not as grown up as was expected of her. Somewhere in between, as most ppl are. I also wanted the pajamas to look comfy! Something you'd sleep in, so it's a onepiece.

Conrad's turn!

Ok so, the thing is I kinda have a complex abt being compared to others. And I made Conrad after Scarabia was announced, meaning we still didn't know what the remaining three dorms would be themed around. There was a chance one would be Peter Pan and if my work was compared to Yana's of all people I would actually sink into depression for like a full week.

So instead of Hook, Conrad is twisted from his hook. The metal itself. That is, the "essence" of Hook's infamy, what you first see. You know Captain Hook has a hook, but not his name or how he got the Neverland or anything. A surface understanding if you will.

Also Epel being the literal apple was so funny. After that I just stuck with the object theme.

That explains why he isn't quite like Hook, he is more so someone chasing the ideal, the story of Hook. You see Conrad and might think you know him because he wants you to think that, to not look beyond that surface. It's not a facade, but it's not the full story. So that's the why of his silver hair!

As for the rainbow shine, both him and Tink have rainbows in their palettes for a dreamy vibe.

So there's three topical pirate things: hook, eyepatch and a peg leg. I considered an artifcial leg, but I thought the eyepatch would fit more his theme of seeing beyond the surface. People question if he wears the eyepatch just out of fashion or if he's missing his eye, or hiding something. And he plays along it!

Canonically only Krok, Tink, his family and Leona during Halloween event have seen him without the eyepatch.

The three colors he always has in gems and feathers is basically- Dorm Color, dorm color accent and blue bc it's analog to green and so mingles well while making the magenta stand out more. :3

Conrad's dorm uniform plays a lot with shape. The too-big hat adds to his presence, the gems and feathers to his love for beautiful things, the long ruffles of his slevees add to his dramatic movements, his cravat goes in zig-zags like a wave instead of straight across, his coat slevees tighten at the elbow then become bell-shape, cut by the cuff which has a hook pattern. The coat itself works to accentuate Conrad's hourglass figure and exaggerate it, flaring past the waist.

You can tell I love his design a lot (´▽`ʃ♡ƪ)

Tink's turn!

I'm running out of image space rip

Ok so you can see how he resembles Tinkerbell. Hair bangs are similar, but his hair is short to change it more. The green ahoges were me just messing around with highlights and being like "oh wait what if they were separate, like bug antennas bc haha fairy". Tho during early art they are more blue than green 💀

Aside that, since Tinkerbell has prominent hips I made Tink's coat a bit longer and flared so the silouette would be similar. His boots have the iconic pom poms, and since the darker side of the uniform didn't mesh well I decided to take off Tink's coat slevees, and add white pants to match. Slevees poofy like a pirates but without getting in the way, so 3/4 baggy ones that add more weight to his figure. The cravat couldn't be white then, so it was made lime green, and then turned transparent and glittery like a fairy's wings. The bottom layer of his coat has the same fabric to add cohesion, and simulate a dress even more.

The lighter palette also reminds of Tinkerbell's fairy light around her. The open back came later in to make sure he could use his wings comfortably.

The wings have a similar pattern to Tinkerbells, but colored rainbow, with the green being more prominent! Like his rainbow eyes, it's mean to signal Tink is a fairy but an unusual one. The white star shaped pupil was to add the idea of light, and again a nod to the Neverland star. I also had a crush on Tinkerbell as a kid and made Tink have the prettiest eyes yes.

Personality wise, Tinkerbell was mean. I know the movies retconned it, but I'm basing Tink on the org Tinkerbell, and her later character arcs in the book. I find the idea of Tinkerbell getting her heart broken by Peter, returning to the fairies and changing into a better person FAR better than having her suddenly be a sweetheart.

So that's Tink's arc! Except he reforms with pirates instead of fairies. He's midway there, trying to be better but failing often. It's.... a difficult path many of us have to take, so I wanted Tink to show a bit of that. He has good qualities, but it doesn't mean you have to excuse or look past his bad ones.

Him having dad hobbies and tastes was just bc carpentry is SUCH a dad thing + he's a tinker fairy, so he's older than he looks. I've said before Tink is androgynous, but in my canon most fairies are.

Krok turn!

Granted, he is the crocodile which means a lot of liberty design wise. So! His hair is green obvs, but I added a gradient to make it more dreamy, like the rainbows. To differentiate his green from Tink's, Krok leans more blue while Tink leans more yellow.

The ponytail is meant to remind of the tail, the glasses are due crocodiles' eyes, they can easily detect movement amidst a great distance, but details not so much. So seeing the tiny letters in the chalkboard, or human signs…. difficult, you know? His uniform is the basic one, with a relaxed vibe. The most dressed up parts, like his ponytail feathers and jewelry, you can see resemble Conrad's a little. After all the crocodile "chases" after him.

For his crocodile form, I tried to mix humanoid and crocodile as best as I could. As you can see I don't have the skills of a furry artist T v T

Krok as a crocodile is far, far bigger. His snout still has sharp "ripping" teeth instead of the "gripping" ones a crocodile should have though. This + his color palette + the fact he's half humanoid are subtle clues that he isn't just a crocodile. What the hell he is, no one knows, not even him. He's probably mixed with some other fantastical creatures from the Neverseas, but trying to pinpoint it would be hard.

Tick Tock only appears alone, despite there being a Crocodile's Creek in Neverland, so Krok's a loner. He doesn't speak, so Krok is someone of few words. He's playful but everyone is scared of him, but also with good reason. Just like with Krok!

Storywise, his chasing of Hook. OK SO-

I had several ideas. That Krok would hate Conrad, that he'd simply want to eat him, that he'd be in secret love with him.... It was hard to decide. I kinda did all and none. That is--- those are all theories from others. Even Conrad doesn't know 100%.

The reason he follows Conrad really is a mix of loneliness and that Conrad has affected him irreplaceably. Tick Tock ate the hand, right? But Krok has "part of Conrad" inside him, that is, Conrad was his first contact with humans and his first friend. The reason Krok isn't still completely feral. That now forms part of him. That is the reason he also treasures the pocketwatch that Conrad gave him, a small piece of the first treasure they found together. To him, it was the gift of a friend, tho Conrad at the time did it to "appease the beast".

That said, if Tick Tock represents time and Hook's fear in a land where no one grows up, Krok represents the wilder and unpreditacble side of the Neverseas, what keeps evolving as time goes on.

The way he overthinks and philosophises is also tied to that. Evolution! Krok is made of contradictions.

Generally!

Since Peter Pan is abt growing up, or refusing to do so, I went with that theme- more symbolic tho!

It's also in the way all of them have parental issues they have inherited, and that they have to choose to break free from. Some of these are based on my own experiences, and the research I've done on the topic.

With Conrad it's the abuse he suffered from his "father figure" and the anger he still feels over it, and how he bottles it up until it explodes. (Hook's bouts of murder towards Peter)

For Tink is the fact his mother never grew up, and so never could teach him. Tink is playing catch up with concepts like responsability, consequences, companionship and jealousy. (Tink trying to kill every girl looking at Peter)

Krok's case is that the one older crocodile, the only other of his kind around who he hoped would be a father figure, attacked him. And the closest he had to a mother was a fairy who played with him for a day and never returned, like an irresposible kid with a puppy. So he has trouble letting himself connect with anyone. (Tick Tock in the Pirate Fairy)

Gwen has the fact her parents were tired and overworked, and guess what Gwen has been most of her life! She was the mom, but her brothers were allowed other labels. The smart, the genius, or the creative, the soft heart one. But she was just the mom, the caretaker. (Gwen being told to grow up and even in Neverland being literally designed as the mom)

I also wanted Conrad to be the more grown up of the three. Someone in the final stages of recovery. Compared to Tink who is still combative and clingy, or Krok who still can't take the risk of asking for the companionship he yearns for, or Gwen who is starting this path. Conrad helps them all heal in different ways, mostly by being someone who both can understand them but also demands better of them. (Doesn't accept Tink's jealousy, wants Krok to be more honest abt intentions, and spoils Gwen)

So that's it!

akumura redesign i’ve been working on

ok first up i wanna say it truly does not make any sense to me to interpret akumura as the embodiment of evil even if homura herself says she’s evil. this girl has more self hate than you can imagine. and i think it’s way more accurate to view her (and madokami) through a more polytheistic lens as a goddess of revenge, corruption, and immortality

i wanted to keep some elements from homulily bc let’s be real this bitch did not recover from her despair just bc her friends fought against it. rebellion ended the way it did bc homura has fuckin snapped and is willing to go to insane lengths for the sake of protecting her beloved. the witch hat and veil represent her grief and self perception issues, and the talons at the end of her dress claw into the ground like homulily’s ribbons to represent her regrets n whatnot

playing with the immortality thing and taking from her name, the flames at the tip of her hat are eternal, though they may dim or flare up depending on her mood for the theatrics of it all

smth i do enjoy about akumura’s canon design is the use of corvid feathers on her dress but uh. the design kinda sucks and also doesn’t really fit her character...? so just fuckin complete overhaul on all that. 2 things that are kinda impossible to show through visuals is that these are specifically raven feathers and the base fabric is lizard skins. also EVERYTHING is black but i’m not about to murder my poor pen like that

no wings! homura effectively shot herself in the foot by taking this power. even if she technically has the freedom to do whatever she wants now, she fuckin won’t bc she really only had one goal by rewriting the universe which she kinda achieved, and she already accepted long ago that she would throw away her only chance at true happiness in exchange for madoka’s safety. homura didn’t just clip her metaphorical wings, she ripped them off herself.

if you saw my fur coat piece, the incubator coat plays into the revenge and immortality themes. this is smth that’s really hard to get across through a still drawing, but every incubator that coat is made out of is kept barely alive, just enough so that they can still feel pain. homura’s so quirky lol 😝

the base of her hat probably has a spider lily within a white lily but ough that’d be so much to draw. spider lily’s self explanatory, and white lilies are symbol of sapphic love in traditional japanese literature and visual arts :) basically it’s the pretty flower equivalent of this

FNAF theory: who really is Glitchtrap?

Ok, we all know that Afton is in control of this security breach mess, but the way Glitchtrap acts doesn’t felt like it’s Afton.

Digital version of Afton?

Well, it would make sense, that it could be the agony of Afton. But, like i said, it doesn’t feel the way Glitchtrap acts is too childish to be agony of Afton.

Glitchtrap is like a guy who acts in theater, Game!Afton isn’t dramatic/theater guy but Book!Afton is (if you read the silver eye trilogy), the first time that Game!Afton appeared is in the the Sister Location intro, but it’s not really much of his personality.

Although, Book!Afton and Game!Afton doesn’t really have similar personalities, because the major plot include Characters in the books don’t ties into the games, so it’s possible that Game!Afton couldn’t be Glitchtrap nor his digital self.

Well, the way Glitchtrap acts through help wanted and Vanny/46 therapy CDs seems similar to Elizabeth.

Wasn’t Elizabeth moved on?

Elizabeth doesn’t sounds that she wants to move on, right before Henry interrupted Scrap Baby, she said “i’ll make you proud, daddy.” Now, there’s two people could be saying this, it could be Baby herself or it’s Elizabeth, Baby never says that her creator is her “dad”, so it’s not Baby, it was Elizabeth say that line.

Elizabeth didn’t move on because…she kinda already gone insane and she still want to make Afton proud just to have his love, so there’s a chance that she might be the one that was inside the circuit board, this whole time.

Traits that fit Elizabeth

There’s more proof that Glitchtrap might be Elizabeth. In the therapy CDs, Vanny/46 has a childish personality and Vanessa’s parents have a custody battle. What if Vanessa’s memories isn’t real, but instead she has Elizabeth’s memories.

That would make sense, because Bill/William manipulated “Vanessa” to lie in the court and the second therapist said that “Vanessa’s” mom died (suicide?) after she lost the custody battle.

It’s weird that her mom died after she lost, it’s possible, that Bill/William could kill “Vanessa’s” mom. If her mom did the suicide, Bill/William could make the scenario seem like a suicide. So Vanessa still involved in the whole virus mess, it’s just she’s not brainwashed, she just have Elizabeth’s memories.

For Vanny/46, Elizabeth could be possessing her, since Vanny has childish personality, being manipulative, she lies, and she’s not a troublemaker but she can be sometimes like a rebellion.

The staff bots of the Afton family

Elizabeth could be the one that build the Afton bots family, since she want to bring burntrap/afton back, she could be wanting to bring the family back together, because the third therapist ask Vanny/46 if she keep her fantasies in the way they are. The unused lines for mom bot and father bot could be what Elizabeth heard when they got divorced before the custody battle.

Conclusion?

Well, this post is most likely a theory, Glitchtrap being Elizabeth would make sense and i’m more leaning to that theory.

All the ending theories for the 4th movie

So, I just thought of compiling all the endings I can think of for the 4th movie (which, for god's sake, better be the last one).

These are sort of general "how can the status quo be after this movie is over", under the assumption that it's meant as the final ending, and with the fates of Madoka and Homura as the focus.

1) Undoing Rebellion: I find this one unlikely, especially after finding out Urobuchi started working on the script soon after Rebellion, but basically: Madoka gains her memories, becomes one with the Law of Cycles again, and takes Homura with her. I guess Sayaka and Nagisa being back to life is the biggest difference with the original ending (and, well, Homura being gone). It's a very logical and easy to come up with ending, and I would be ok with it, but as I said, I don't think they would make Rebellion just to then undo it.

Especially when, as I said, this is apparently not a matter of them starting the movie years later, in which case maybe they would look back and think "Hm, yeah, let's go back to the previous status quo", but Urobuchi actually having an idea of where to go from the beginning.

2) Things stay the same: This one sounds ludicrous, but I guess we can't rule it out. Basically, Homura is able to keep her barrier and Madoka on earth and continues ruling everything which makes this whole movie pointless, no, no way they do that, right?

3) No More Magical Girls: I think some people think this already happened in Rebellion, but it didn't. Homura mentions the Law of Cycles still existing separate from Madoka. We also saw the Concept Movie with them as magical girls.

How and where we would get there I have no idea, but it's what a lot of people seem to think it's the solution, and I can see why so it's definetely possible imo.

4) No More Incubators: The idea is presented in the show... And many thought that was what Madoka would wish for. Yeah, he said it's likely we'd be living naked in cages, but... Well that's not what happened in real life, so who knows! They could create any kind of interesting status-quo in a incubator-less world in the Madoka universe. Again, no idea how to get here though.

5) Homura is reset (Rebellion reverse card): In many ways this movie feels to me like a reverse Rebellion already... I mean, Madoka is living in this new world where everything is fine and she thinks her life is great then she slowly starts finding out the truth... At least that's the vibe that the Concept Movie goes.

So I can see the ending being exactly a role reversal of Rebellion: Madoka, now back to being Madokami, sends Homura in a world without her, this time without any memories of her previous life, where she's a transfer student again. I think we can agree that Homura's love for Madoka is what resulted in this whole thing, both for the show and Rebellion, so I think it makes sense for that to be the "solution" to finally put an end to things.

It sucks though because it literally erases all of Homura's character development... And as a Madoka fan I absolutely HATED when that happened to her. Who knows though, so many people seem to think it's a good thing that Madoka "gets to live a happy life on earth again" and think Rebellion is fine for that reasons, so who knows what the reaction from the fandom would be... I guess divisive, but I would be frustrated again...

6) Balancing the universe: I have thought of this for a while... Basically Madokami is back again, but Homura stays as a demon, maybe cause Madoka can only erase witches and she's not that anymore. So basically, both Madokami and Homucifer would stay in their ascended forms and balance the universe with hope and despair, like a literal yin-yang, it could even be kinda romantic as in that they're together in the higher plane of existence...

The way it kinda falls flat though is that Madoka isn't really an actual god of the whole world though, but more like just the goddess of magical girls... Either way, cool for the fact that it doesn't erase anyone's character development. And the possible "MadoHomu cosmic endgame" angle it could have.

7) Planet gone, everyone dies: Pretty self-explanatory. (and dumb??? I saw someone say they wanted that once and I was like... why)

8) MadoHomu dies: Well, that's one way to really end the franchise. A demon can't just keep a magic barrier around earth and create chaos forever I guess, and if the law of cycles is separate from Madoka, I guess she wouldn't be "needed" anymore.

Since they're deities at least to some level maybe they'd just go to some kind of heaven and hell, simply not interfering in the world anymore but still being Madokami and Homucifer... Or maybe they would really just stop existing completely.

9) We MagiReco now: Doppels are on the main timeline! Instead of being taken by the law of cycle, now magical girls just get to use their witches as a badass form, just like in KamiHama.

That way, Madoka gets to be a magical girl, not have to sacrifice herself and not have to leave her family, but still remember everything from before that (or not?) and live happily ever after. Maybe she can even keep the Madokami look, since at the end of Rebellion she started glowing and got her golden eyes... Idk about Homura with the whole devil thing though, but I guess they could be nice and give her this too somehow.

The fact that the script for the movie started being written in 2014 and has been finished for years, got me thinking up a conspiracy theory that maybe MagiReco's whole concept actually came from Urobuchi himself in the 4th movie, that they've been just holding off from us for some reason.

10) Time-travel happy ending?: Well, since the movie is called "Walpurgis no Kaiten"(turning the tide? Revolution? Heaven? I've seen many translations lol), I guess there's the possibility of traveling back to the past back to Walpurgisnacht somehow??? And maybe if they can beat it they can chill?

Not sure what that would mean for Madoka and Homura though? I guess Madoka never makes her wish, and Homura is not a demon as she seems to be physically back to where she was at the beginning of the month every time she went back, rather than how she became, only keeping the memories of previous timelines...

11) Madokami/Homucifer fusion: I don't know why but I kinda thought about that and think it it would be kinda cool? Like, Madokami sort of absorbs Homucifer, similar to taking magical girls through the law of cycles, and since Homura's corruption is so immense and above a witch, which is what she can really erase, they sort of create a new being that's a mix of the two... The real endgame is literally becoming one! loool.

12) Improved Law of Cycles: This is an obvious one so I don't know why I didn't say it before: Instead of magical girls vanishing when their soul gem is corrupted, they simply lose their powers and go back to being human. I feel like this goes better with the message of the franchise than erasing the magical girl system entirely. It's basically just a tweak to make the original show's ending a better status quo and deliver more on the "magical girls spread hope" theme that Madoka wanted to honor.

EARTH INVASION - this is a no-sburb au where the alternian empire came and took over earth as a colony, also all the trolls exist at the same time as the revolution so like the whole vantas family gets to help out, and the humans are taken as like property cause theyre Technically Lowbloods but theyre Not having it so they all escape and join the rebellion and take down the GOVERNMENT

CYBERSTUCK - this one is really really specific, uhh its a post-apocalyptic dystopian cyberpunk futuristic humanstuck where the city everyone lives in once flourished with the help of several versions of androids, but as they advanced they needed more and more power which became fucking nuclear and there was a fallout. so now everythings radioactive, everyones scrounging to survive, androids from “the underground” (the main core of where most of specifically the power droids were kept) are SUPER fucking valuable cause theyre able to give you power, and the radioactivity mutated a lot of people so instead of zombies there are just mutants. and roxy is one of them but theyre still sentient so they look like fucking HEINOUSTUCK roxy but theyre still like. vibing

I am watching What IF...?

Episode 1: What if... Captain Carter were the First Avenger?

You know... when I saw that it started from the breach in Captain America timeline and saw Peggy become a super soldier, I was pretty sure that Steve will resent her for what she did, because his portrayal in the First Avenger movie even before the serum indicated that he would be, just like he was of Bucky for being drafted while he was left behind. It’s canon behavior for him as far as I noticed.

What If..?’s Steve however is a better man. I dunno when exactly he changed, but he did. He doesn’t act as if he resented Peggy, and he seems quite ok with how everything turned out. Which is like, wow, I didn’t expect that. Also, Peggy has a far better story as Captain.

Like, she isn’t put into USO, she is denied being a soldier even, because she is a woman, the only thing she seems to share with Captain America is murdering punching bags and throwing stuff when angry, which is kinda a bad sign, but ok, everybody needs coping mechanisms. ANYWAY, when she learns where Hydra went, she quickly figured out what they were after, but the guy in charge (John Flynn), the same one who told her that she is a woman not a soldier, doesn’t want to send her there even though they still have a chance to get it back in time. So Howard steps in and her whole rebellion against the military is about not endangering everybody with a stupid ass decision made by a general who doesn’t get how important the cube is, instead of about saving just one man and accidentally saving 400 others by extension by literally going AWOL and endangering his friends like MCU Steve did. Everything about the mission which makes her recognized is about retrieving the Tesseract. And Howard gives her a uniform and a shield to do just that. All in British colors, because American military sucks.

(I love their “she just reaped the bars out, holy shit” faces xD)

AND THEN they go SAVE BUCKY. That makes much more sense story wise. And also Howard is showing Steve that technology can aid him when the serum now can’t, because Peggy is the super soldier instead, literally building better foundations for Steve’s attitude towards technology and the future. He will not be stuck in ice and come back for the Avengers, but at least he is getting better development not only in relation to this topic, but also to his hatred towards his body and his masculinity. Peggy still wanting him despite him being small and frail and now also disabled even more after he was shot and has to walk with a cane, literally builds in Steve the idea that his masculinity is not weak or bad, because he is not a macho muscly type and that his body isn’t something which he should hate or which makes him less than others. AND he is literally Tony now! I did suspect that the technology he got was a suit, but damn, is Steve in this universe fated to be the first Iron Man and then Tony second?

Lol, they named him “Hydra Stomper”.

And now Peggy teaches Steve the most important lesson “the Suit is nothing without the man inside”, which he as much as Tony needed to learn to finally feel free and not less than the others, because they rely on something. The only difference between Steve and Tony here is that Iron Man without Tony is truly nothing, because he made it, while Steve's suit was given to him, so anybody can technically pilot it. Anyway, I like this Steve so much more than MCU one.

(Which when I think about it now creates a pothole in the later part of the episode. Like why Hydra and Red Scull let the suit hanging instead of use it against Peggy? Why put Steve in chains next to it? It kinda looks like damseling him for literally no reason. I wonder why they didn’t kill him right away? Because what? Because he had blonde hair and blue eyes? Or what? Scull liked him? And we cannot even say it was done for the sake of Peggy saving him, because Peggy never sees Steve in chains. She went the other way, so why is he there? To save for whom? Bucky? It would be more logical if Red Scull just killed Steve and put the suit himself and fought Peggy in it to hurt her. Then at least space squid wouldn’t kill him, lol... ah wait. OH, yeah, Tesseract was inside the suit, so he just took it out. Still, he could power up the suit with something else and put one of his people inside to fight Peggy anyway, just in case she came for him).

AND OF COURSE HE HAD TO TRAGICALLY DIE WHEN I FINALLY STARTED LIKING THE WEASEL! LOL, we know what will happen next. He will become the new Winter Soldier, I suppose? If he survived the explosion.

Oh, they brought the original castle storyline back! It never appeared in the Captain America: The First Avenger, even though I personally remember a castle being a main stage for the whole “Steve sacrificed himself prelude” thing, so it’s nice to have a castle and an interdimensional portal back, instead of a plane battle.

“I am up for anything, but this is crazy”.

“And so is Steve Rogers”

Anyway, he survived. There is no Winter Soldier in this universe and Peggy gets lost in the portal, and she is brought back to 2012 by I suspect Project Pegasus as it is the “Loki’s arrival” scene.

I think that now, if we assume that everybody else is still present in this universe, meaning that Tony became Iron Man and all, Steve becoming a Hydra Stomper and working with Peggy gave Captain Carter an experience in fighting alongside someone in a metal suit. Plus her friendship with Howard means that she won’t have any bad disposition towards Tony and hence Avengers team will actually work better, and if there is Civil War it would be different and about something else, because Captain Carter knows her way around learning political related stuff, so she wouldn’t really kick Accords in the ass unless it was a Hydra plot. I also suppose that without her making Project Paperclip, Hydra would not infiltrate SHIELD, or someone else does that, and Captain Carter would notice something is not right with SHIELD, and she would root the Hydra out herself.

Also, I wanna point out that the scene in which Peggy is shown to be “smarter than Howard” is there only to establish the difference between her and MCU Steve Rogers, who doesn’t know shit about technology. It’s not that Howard isn’t smart anymore. He is a civilian, who is not a brawling type, in a room with a huge octopus which crushed Red Scull like a wooden stick. It stands to reason that he would be panicked enough to not be able to articulate properly. It also establishes that no “it runs on some kind of electricity” will happen in this universe during the Avengers storyline, where she ends by the end of the episode. It comes out a little out of the blue, that’s true, but this is not a line which only “genius” or “science type” can say. It’s just a typical sci-fi approach to the problem with anything, which also sounds smart at the same time. She could even take it out from a sci-fi novel. But I agree that they didn’t establish where that knowledge comes from in any of the previous scenes.

Episode 2: What if... T’Challa became a Star-Lord?

Lol, a vastly different reaction xD

And this was the moment when young T’Challa thought, “who needs to tell their baba that they’re going into space, anyway?” and just went and disappeared. I don’t even wanna know what Wakanda did after the prince vanished. Though it means that Shuri can become a queen and the Black Panther now, HELL YEAH!

And this is the proof that anybody who says that we have to murder someone else to “save the planet” from overpopulation is wrong. (Because they are wrong, just go and check studies about that). T’Challa just showed Thanos the benefits of equal share of the resources and saved the universe with logic and diplomacy.

And my hopes for Queen Shuri just went out the window. BTW, why Nebula turned into a living example of “blue space babe” (from feminist studies which pointed out that alien women are just human women painted colors and shown in sexy clothes or portrayed as dancers and prostitutes for the benefit of the male gaze). She got sexy hair, sexy dress, and she is later shown to be some kind of spy by the clothes she wears and her general attitude. She reminds me so much of Natasha that I am tempted to say she is a sexy spy cliché.

It’s kind of degrading after the whole episode which centered around a woman being denied being a soldier, which in the whole militaristic and male dominated setting was pretty much conveying feminist messages, while here in another male dominated setting we have only two women shown with any lines and one of them is Nebula sexy spy. It just comes across weird after the previous episode, tbh.

She even speaks like Natasha from the MCU... and she betrays just like our dear russian friend, Natasha. Anyway, it looks like Queen Shuri is still on the table! Wakanda prevails! It was not destroyed!

Ok, nevermind. She is a space Black Widow, but in this way that she plays every side just like Natasha does. Apparently... betrayal was part of the plan, lol. What is with this idea that women named with a name starting with N are good spies in this universe?

Carina the badass! GO CARINA! SHOW THEM!

At least in this universe, she doesn’t foolishly die for “drama”. Or, in MCU’s case, for exposition to show “what happens to those who touch the infinity stone”. I gotta say, her revenge was sweet.

🌙Erdisia 22. She/her lesbian. mint green hair that gradients into sherbet orange. Grayish purple eyes. 

outfits: Enjoys wearing cute, puffy clothes! Ribbons, bows, chiffon, silk. Short dresses and shorts. 'Cute' hairstyles like ponytails n braids. 

Personality/backstory: Cheerful and highly aggressive! She will 100% stab anyone with a smile. She really hates humans and thinks they're all below her. She loves cute things, and but she has a really nasty personality that doesn't match at all. She's super good at sucking up to people and flattering them if she wants something, though. Anything nasty or unpleasant, like torturing? Killing? She is absolutely there for that. She does ALL the dirty work dealing with prisoners of the rebellion. Persi would very much like to have Words with her about that...Sapote doesn't actually like this girl, but Erdisia? Is like, lowkey obsessed with Sapote. Like 100% thinks she should be working with Sapote instead of Cara. Obviously since she's a human, Cara doesn't care for an alien speciesist against humans, and Erdisia goes out of her way to say nasty things to Cara in return. Cara is super good at ignoring people tho, which only makes Erdisia more mad.

outfits: slouchy, comfy clothes. Literally cannot be bothered to dress like a real person.

Personality/backstory: Entitled and sarcastic. Always thinks he's the smartest person in the room when he's hardly in the top ten in a room of five people. He's every dudebro you've ever met who's mansplained at every woman he's ever met and simultaneously expects them to fall in love with him while he has nothing to really offer and refuses to do any work around the house. That guy. He hates talking to the others and is pretty anti-social, but he's competent with tech. His job is to monitor everything. Like, he's the guy who watches the cameras to make sure no one is up to no good business. The visor over his face can switch to any part of the alien ship, and he can even hack into cameras on Earth. He's a SNITCH. He also dabbles in robotics and hacking. Neither Sapote or Cara like him very much :^)

Funfact: No one has seen him sleep. Seriously, you think Queen'd assign more than one person to watch cameras for this reason. Hm..

🌙Saguaro 25. They/them aroace. Pine green hair that gradients into jade green. (???) colored eyes.

outfits: they like robes...comfy. flowy clothes. like. Snuggies. probably wearing slippers. 

Personality/backstory:   They are pretty mysterious! Despite always having bindings over their eyes, they happen to be the best with a sword. Like literally undefeated. They have a very peaceful personality though, inviting anyone to meditate and drink tea with them. They're always happy to talk about their religion, which is the now banned church of Deep Blue. (Queen is very About Science and very anti Guy Who Tried to Kill Their Own and stuff. She also doesn't like the idea of anyone following a dead leaders beliefs instead of following Her. So.) A firm believer in destiny, they're actually against Queen to an extent, but believes being close to her will lead them to the path that Deep Blue will cross. Because destiny. because Saguaro totally believes the Revival Is Coming. Most people think they're super weird for it, and Queen has, in her very polite way, banned them from being Too Vocal about it. Sapote is super weirded out by it. Cara is like. Kind of amused and kind of enjoys hanging out with Saguaro because they're like, even with all their quirks, the most chill of the group. Also, cool sword collection. Saguaro is happy to hang out with the human! But at the same time, they'll make remarks that sound full of pity towards the humans. 

Funfact:  Queen doesn't like them wearing blue because that's Deep Blue's color whereas she likes yellow and white. They wear a good bit of blue anyway! A quiet way to rebel, maybe? 

🌙Queen 24. She/her bi. Sacramento green hair. gold/orange gradient eyes. 

Outfits: She's always in a dress/gown in public, bun on the same side or hair down, and usually wearing red lipstick. Always dressed in gold, yellow, white (or a combo of them) ANY kind of crown or circlette headdress or gown is ok! When not in public? comfy. hair tied out of the way so she can work! 

Personality/backstory: Elegant! Leaderly! Graceful! Poised! At least when people are watching her. Yes, her name is really Queen! Eccentric parents that wanted her to be the best. She's..probably disappointing them with this career path. She's the top general of the alien army and revels in the irony of her name. She's really charming to talk to and acts like a Real Lady...but most the people listed here have seen her when she's not in front of people. Which is. Her in a lab coat, messy bun, up until the morning after an all-nighter, taking notes faster than she can speak them. She LOVES science and is more passionate about it than being a leader. But she must have her own reasons for taking on such a big role and running operations against Earth so aggressively, right? (;

🌙Arilla he/they pan 25. periwinkle grey hair with dark mauve grey bangs. ice green eyes.

outfits: Enjoys wearing comfy clothes. However, he NEVER shows his arms, legs or neck for personal reasons, so if dressing him in alternate clothing, keep that in mind! Keep him Covered Up.

Personality/backstory: Tired. Seriously needs a nap. Sleepy and grumpy at any given moment. Borderline snarky when he can be. Queen's righthand who's actually left handed too, probably. He doesn't do actual like, fighting stuff, he mostly just follows her around, making sure she doesn't miss meetings or trip in her heels. Makes sure she eats. I don't want to call him a babysitter, but. He also checks on Cara and Sapote in the same way as a part of his job. Sapote LOVES picking on this dude. Drives him up the wall. Cara is pretty ready to boss him around too because she thinks he's a pushover (he is). He kinda doesn't even like Queen on a personal level or agree with what she's doing, but he's in debt to her for something she did for him in the past, so he feels obligated to work for her. The emotion he feels towards her is something like pity.

🌙Pereskia. 28. She/her bi aro. crocodile green hair. fern green eyes.

outfits:  Despite her very serious personality, she really likes dressing up a little. Loves heels to tower over people, won't wear em while fighting tho. Also, she's super all about showing off her muscles because she's proud of them. Suns out guns out. 

Personality/backstory:  Serious and hardworking. She's the one most likely to do good on a group project but also the most likely to nag you into the ground about making it PERFECT. She has a lot of honor, and will work tirelessly to get her job done. She seriously takes a lot of pride in it, but she will never be overly sadistic about it; she's all about being efficient. She doesn't get along with Sapote like, at all, because she thinks she doesn't take her job seriously and is mad she got so far with her kind of attitude. She actually does get along with Cara tho and has nothing personal against humans. She just thinks the humans at the top are consumed with greed, and feels bad for all the other ones that will 'have to die for that'. She's really protective over kids.

summary: set just a few weeks before the main plot, you literally just ended your sophomore year at East Highland and suddenly you’re moving from California to the Outer Banks.

It was one thing to be moving out of some town in California, it was another to be moving all the way across the goddamned country to live on an island off the coast of North Carolina. The sudden announcement had caused a variety of things to play out for you. Firstly, in an impulsive act of rebellion (of course after an argument had blown up between you and your parents), you had decided to stay at your friend Lexi’s house for 2 weeks. Aside from comfort you, Lexi didn’t really say anything about it and neither did her family. Her mom was pretty much the advocate for the whole “you do you, just don’t get pregnant or die” mindset when it came to teenagers. 

When you realize that no act of rebelliousness or stupid teenage rioting would change your parents’ decision in the least (because it wasn’t really something they could change now that your clear head thought about it), you’d sucked it up and decided to just enjoy the last of your time with your friends. 

By the time you’d come to that conclusion, school was gonna be let out in just a mere 3 weeks and (luckily for you) parties were already being thrown on weekdays. As much as you hated a majority of East Highland’s students you didn’t let that deter you from leaving with some good fucking memories. 

Saying goodbye to all of your friends was more overwhelming than the actual move itself if you were being completely honest. Getting on the plane and flying off to North Fucking Carolina was more of a numbing experience. It was like you couldn’t really feel anything anymore after having to say goodbye to the friends and the life you had known. 

“I think we’ve just used every method of transportation in one day,” you stated as you walked away from the ferry and toward the van that your parents had rented to help with the move. 

“You’re trippin’, we didn’t even ride a train,” your older brother, Isaiah, pointed out as he squinted at the van. Barely 30 minutes in the Outer Banks and you were sweating your ass off already. Not that you weren’t used to something like heat, Southern California could be pretty brutal in the summer, but this was a fucking island. The air was damp and musty and the fabric of your clothes felt like it was melting into your skin. 

“What are you, the fucking transportation police, Jesus,” you mumbled as you shot him a look before forcing yourself to settle into the van. 

The ride to your new house wasn’t anything too terrible considering you decided to just put in your AirPods and close your eyes with the thought that, maybe you’ll fall asleep, and once you woke up this whole thing would be some fucked up dream. Sure your phone vibrated with messages within your group chat but your mind was too boggled from the heat and from the move for you to even think about responding.

“Do you guys see those moving trucks too or am I just imagining things?” John B pointed out as the HMS Pogue drove at a leisurely pace through the waters. 

“You’re not imagining anything, just a new kook family moving into Figure 8,” Kie piped up from where she was relaxing. 

School had let out not only a few days ago when her mom had let her know about the new family that would be moving in just a few houses down from their own. She’d told Kie that she had met the mother a few weeks back and basically relayed any and all information she’d gained about the new family.

“My mom said that they’re like business owners or something? They have three kids and they’re moving here from California,” Kie explained and JJ let out a whistle. 

“Big move,” he took a hit of his Juul before forming an ‘o’ with his mouth and exhaling out the smoke. 

“Yeah can’t imagine why someone would wanna move from California to here,” Pope raised his eyebrows as their group watched movers bustle back and forth as though they were an army of ants. 

“Well why wouldn’t they, it’s the Outer Banks, “Paradise on Earth’,” John B declared and JJ let out a whoop in agreement as the boat sped off toward the marsh.

“I know I promised that I wouldn’t complain or whatever but it’s sooooo hot,” your younger sister, Bethanie, whined with a stomp of her foot. You scoffed as you stepped out of the van after her. You watched with a raised brow as men bustled about the new (large) house that you would have to begin calling home. The house was not modest in the least and you couldn’t help but balk a little at the sight. 

Sure you weren’t poor or anything but considering the ridiculously high cost of living that came with residing in California, this place was definitely more indulging than your old house.

“We’re on an island in the middle of summer, you moron,” Isaiah was quick to retort as he began taking luggage out of the back off the van. You took your attention off the house before you as you pulled your sunglasses from your eyes and settled them at the top of your head. You glanced between your two siblings and you prepared to watch your older brother lose a battle against your younger sister. Again.

“Mom! Zaya just called me a moron!” 

“Bea, oh my god, I was kidding!” the eldest was quick to defend himself as the youngest ran off to their mother. 

“No, you weren’t!” her fading voice called out and Isaiah threw his head back in frustration.

“Ok really, what did you expect?” you raised your brows at your brother and tried not to laugh at him as he flipped you off. 

“Why is she such a snitch? Seriously, like were you this much of a snitch?” 

“I mean I could’ve been, but I know that if I snitch on you, your stupid ass would snitch on me,” you pointed out matter of factly as a man shut the trunk of the van and waved you and your brother off so that him and another man could begin to take your luggage inside. 

“Damn you’re right. I thank you for your service,” Isaiah saluted you and you let out a laugh as you settled your cat-eye sunglasses back onto the bridge of your nose. There was a short moment of silence before you sighed heavily. 

“I really think I’m gonna hate this place…” you said, and Isaiah hummed in response but made no reply. He didn’t need to point out the defeat or the seriousness in your tone because he felt it just as badly. 

“Hey, mom says you guys have to settle into your rooms and change,” Bea came running out of the front door, dressed in an entirely new outfit. You and Isaiah cut your moping short and gave each other looks of disbelief. 

“Why?” you questioned and Bea shrugged without care. 

“We’re gonna have dinner with Dad’s coworker or something, the Cameron’s, I don’t know.”

so i reread keeper of the lost cities and here’s my fresh input:

a note before we begin: you know how people fake throw up at things on tik tok? this book is the reason i now unironically do that.

dex and fitz really have the enemies to lovers troupe going for them and i’m ok with it. i really am.

so do sophie and biana at the beginning but it fizzes out so a better description is enimies to friends to lovers

marhella and stina give me such power top energy i cannot express how much i think that contributes to people not liking them

speaking of stina i wish sophie didn’t just immediately hop onto the bandwagon of “oh she’s evil” without investing further, especially with how much she is written as a ‘good’ person (which i can and will defend to the day i die that good people don’t exist but that’s for a different day).

there’s way too much heteronormativity and Patriarchical Ideas mushed into the book. like three hole pages of a 488 page book of teenagers being like “oooooo girls like guys and guys like girls” only for della to join in. not to mention the amount of times keefe is the reason for those ideas because he’s teasing like “oh fitz has a girlfriend”

keefe and fitz didn’t have as many bonding moments™️ in this book as i remember, but they stil know each other really well, have comfortability around each other, and would make a 10/10 best friends to lovers troupe.

oh my god s o many crushes i swear. like two teenagers of the opposite gender really can’t not like each other apperantly

i miss read a line and really thought there was cannon sexism for me to do a whole ass rant about in the notes part of my analyzation but n o p e

but we do have classism, sexist stereotypes, and the fact that there’s been SO many characters who’ve spoken and ✨🌺far too many of them are white🌺✨

oh also: no ones disabled. which annoys me because their society is described as ‘euptopic’ almost implying that it’s something that makes people problematic, which,,,, no

ok a side note on the society, i understand that the story’s message (kinda) is that things that seem perfect are probably deeply flawed, but something tergan said stuck with me. on a page i can’t remember at the moment he says something like “[the black swan exists] in a society that doesn’t have rebels”, which it suck with me bc that’s boarderline dystopic if it’s not there already. it’s one thing for laws not to be broken, but when you think your society is so perfect despite it having obvious flaws and you think that no one rebels, then i really hate to break it to you, you have a massive rebellion about to occur; it’s just scented as foul under your resplendent nose.

please stop flirting. i get its part of teenagers being teens but i swear if i read “s/he realeased a breath” or “their heart fluttered” or literally ANYTHING like that god no.

yall. i missed dex. he actually has more role in this book than ‘you can gadget and we need one’ and oh boy i really missed him. he’s a BEAN and deserves better.

hole’s said everyone deserves better and i absolutely agree so we’re adding that note here.

if you do what i did and read this book out loud to one of your best friends who has no clue anything about this weird fandom and give fitz a really deep voice for no reason it’s comdy GOLD.

i really think i’m reading too much into this point but iggy seems,,,, symbolic to me?

like ok with humans, sophie didn’t ‘fit in’, right? like she grew up hearing things like “why can’t you be normal like your sister” (which i can do a whole other rant about how that will affect her for the rest of her life just a s k)

not to mention looking really different from her family and graduating high school at age twelve 

but you know who never judged her?

so anyway sophie meets this teal-eyed, movie star smiled wonder boy who takes away her entire knowledge of everything she’s known while taking away her family too

and it turns out even in a place of weirdos she still manages to be the exception to everything

and she doesn’t have the comfort to hear what people are really thinking about her anymore (which as i said before say the word and i’ll deadass write a whole speech about how everything she heard will completely fuck up every relationship she has) which unfortunately means that she grew used to confirming people didn’t like her but now she doesn’t have that

she has to adapt to this new space and feel like she’s always felt, like an outcast in a place that was accepting, but yet again, she the exception to everything

but about halfway through the book she starts to become more comfortable around grady and edaline and that’s when iggy comes in

she finds him while cleaning garbage, and grady compliments her. they have a bonding moment and it’s because of this t h i n g. and then sophie actually feels proud not only does she take up a room, but she did something

and her new parents are proud of her

so she finally feels like she BELONGS because she helped out at the place where she lives/they work

to me it seems iggy is kinda a manifesto of the world building and character development that happens in this book

i think the plot/character arc is fixated a little too much on how different sophie is. like, i get it, she’s exception to everything, but the plot really didn’t need her to be that quirky. yes, she’s different, but there’s a lot more to the plot and her character than how different she is.

also, i had to reread pages a lot bc i needed an exact paragraph number and,,,, it’s really paced like a fanfic

some questions i have about the society is:

it’s established that they use books, physical papers, etc., and the only thing i remember about trees is the speech alden gave her about how she doesn’t know the name of their most popular tree, and the fact that people become trees when they die. even then i don’t think the second one is in this book. never o n c e do i remember something about planting trees that aren’t dead elf’s, so do they feel the affects of deforestation and that jazz?? like if they use trees, will they run out of them? can they??? and do they use the coffins of elf’s for paper??

this is more of a rant than a question, but here it goes anyway. in foxfire, students have a testing system very similar to the one in america: a huge test at the end of the year determines the future of a student. that in of itself doesn’t sound too drastic, right? well,,,,, not necessarily. several studies have shown that tests in general, but especially these types, don’t work. despite how good or bad of a teacher i think my past and current teachers have been, every single one of them hates this system that we have in place. they know it’s an unfair assessment that does it’s damnist to make you fail, and they’re trying so hard to denounce it. however, that doesn’t happen at all in the lost cities. in fact, most of the teachers pride themselves on failing students. so if elf’s are in such an advanced society, why do tests still exist? especially in an environment where the consequences are far greater than just staying back a grade. 

so sophie’s figuring out that major problems exist in the world the elf’s created, right? i wonder if more society structured problems exist more than ‘oh bad people do things and the law justifies which is what’. like, as i’ve previously stated, there’s sexist stereotypes presented (like girls like dresses and guys don’t), but does sexism still exist? does racism exist? it’s established that poverty isn’t a thing because of the fund elf’s have at birth and their limited usage of money (which if you understand please explain bc i don’t really get how they buy stuff but still don’t use money) but if someone gets shipped off to exile, do they lose their money? is it possible for elf’s to starve to death because they can’t afford food? do they pay for food?? if they did starve who would they call? because someone on this website, who’s post i tried to find but i couldn’t so if y’all know what i’m talking about please link it, brought up a good point that elwin is a school physician, he shouldn’t be dealing with the near-death experiences sophie has, so who would they turn to? especially if they don’t have access to foxfire because they got exciled??

is therapy a thing in this world? sophie and dex could really benefit from it, yet mental health has only been brought up when someone went insane, which REALLY shows how little they think about it.

that perfectly transitions into my next point: sophie and dex’s trauma. i really don’t get the vibe that there was much thought going into their kidnapping, other than sophie needed something to trigger her inflecting ability and establish the black swan are on the good side, which really sucks because wow trauma doesn’t happen lightly. and the fact that it happened seems rushed to me, but i’ll come back to that. but anyway, their trauma doesn’t get developed that deeply in this book because it wasn’t given the space to. they were beaten, tortured, starved, gagged, and who even knows what else for t e n d a y s, only for them to find them again, repeat the process, but someone saves them and dumps them into an illegal city and they both nearly die from dehydration, coldness, and lack of concentration, and you’re telling me after three days of conscious of bed rest sophie wants to get her failing out of school over with? ma’am, it takes more time than that to adjust to THAT alone, not to mention the realization that “hey your entire life is fake because people genetically altered you to be their weapon in a war so much bigger than yourself” that was recently dumped on her. like,,,, you really expect me to think that three days is what made her feel prepared and CONFIDENT? no sir. i don’t buy it.

coming back to it being rushed: the book starts out slow and then really hits the ground running and doesn’t stop. so much more stuff happens in the second half of the book than the first and it never gets fully developed it feels like. in the first half sophie moves away but gets a new family and struggles a bit but adapts, fires maybe but hey don’t worry about it, dex hates fitz, fitz is ✨d r e a m y ✨ but our main girl doesn’t like him like that, right?, stina’s a bitch, and sophie is a quirky girl and telepath but can’t tell anyone. pretty basic stuff, not too plot intensive. the second half though: sophie almost fails her midterms but doesn’t, grady and elaine want to unadopt her (which that’s never really explained as to why they do that but ok) fires exist in san degio but they’re fine but they’re actually a rebel elf so..., sophie accidentally breaks a law but it was an accident so it’s fine, update on the fires: sophie burns herself trying to get the evidence that it’s a rebel elf and it works, she’s the moon lark and basically a weapon bc no one knows her well enough to evaluate her safety, sophie and dex get kidnapped but fitz can now transmit to her and she has two new abilities so it’s all good, trauma doesn’t exist except for nightmare you can fix with sedatives, sophie doesn’t fail out of school, and yayyy her family doesn’t want her remove their adoption. there’s probably a lot more that i missed, it’s just that’s a LOT of stuff crammed into a little bit further than the second half of the book that really could have been devolped or explore further instead of forcing into less than 244 pages, ya know?

fitz’s eyes are mentioned seven times, the first time being on page TWO of the novel

his smile is mentioned three times

alden says “no reason to worry” five times, he writes it once, and sophie points out he says it a lot so he chances it slightly to something like ‘don’t stress about it’ so i didn’t count those though i should have

speaking of alden, in this book he’s absolutely creepy, but something that stands out to me is how much he calls sophie girl. i didn’t count it, but he said “that’s a good girl” to sophie too many times for it to be normal especially when you consider how he doesn’t do it to anyone else.

i kinda forgot i was annotating for sophie’s anxious habit of pulling out her eyelashes so i got she did it twice, but i highly doubt that number

but i will keep adding to this when i actually do the words with my annotations.
