🏁A Knockout x Reader (non-binary) small fanfic!

✨Racing Human Core✨ Part 1!!

Sfw, no warnings. Just the beginning of a fluffy bit.

Knockout enjoys human car culture and is always looking for a chance to race and admire the competition. He hears about a local race out in the forest on some older roads. A very exclusive event he can’t miss so he goes.

He rolls up in his sleek alt-mode as he admirers the cars around him. The racers all getting into their cars slowly, allowing for him to prepare himself for an easy race.

Surprisingly he hears the sound of revving coming up beside him quickly and flicks his mirror to see a smaller quite impressive car. He almost speaks out loud before he notices the driver. They were quite cute and sat there with one hand on the wheel and the other out the window. They stared forward with a gaze that seemed frozen. Knockout admired the paint job on their vehicle as they waited for the race to start.

When they’re off he doesn’t have any trouble getting through the racer, zooming between and gaining his lead. Until this new racer zooms by him. They give him a challenge. Of course he likes a challenge and pushes himself further to catch up. It becomes a clear race just between him and the new racer as they are coming up on the finish. The racer looks over to knockout before making it just ahead and hitting the finish line barely before knockout. He hasn’t really been beaten at these events and he was surprised but intrigued by them. They get out of their car to the cheering and celebrate.

Their eyes come back to knockout and begin walking over. Knockout is a bit concerned about his cover and keeps his tinted windows mostly up but cracks one so that he can speak.

“That was an intense race, wasn’t sure if I was gonna beat you.” They spoke as they checked out the car. Obviously an enthusiast.

“Nice car btw.” They smiled and knockout felt his spark surge a bit like a heartskip. He enjoyed the praise. “Oh, thank you! Yea you were extremely fast!” He exclaimed. They both talks a bit about racing before Knockout had the guts to ask for their number. Of course the racer complied and blushed a bit. This made Knockout almost smile in his achievement. They smiled before walking back to their car.

“Till next time.” They hollered and got into their car before speeding off. Knockout felt very intrigued by this racer, which confused him a bit as they were a human. He enjoyed the car culture but humans were, well just humans. He couldn’t lie that he was interested in getting to know them.

Knockout texted them quite a bit about cars. He found out they were a mechanic and had quite a car collection. They kept offering for him to come see it. He saw them only at the races and they took turns winning against each other. He had never left his alt-form and the human he had come to care for would always tease him about not leaving his car. Wondering what his secret was.

“Maybe you’re super short?” They would tease or they wondered if he was just insecure about his appearance. Neither were close to the truth.

Until one day after weeks of talking and texting there was a race planned during a pretty narly storm. Knockout wasn’t too concerned, but he couldn’t lie that he was eyeing the tire choice on his companions vehicle.

They weren’t three weather tires and it seemed they were gonna rely on drifting it around the turns. He didn’t question how good they were but it was still gonna be a dangerous race.

When the race begun they both zoomed off working their way through the racers on the straight away and the first turn came. Knockout slowed down to let them drift around it and make sure they got through okay and when they drifted it perfectly they zoomed off leaving him in the dust. He chuckled in admiration of this human he had claimed as companion.

After a few more turns the weather really turned and before they could see it there was a tree in the road. The racer was already drifting around the turn before they saw it and in the event they lost control and went off the road into a ditch pretty hard. Knockout came up behind them and saw the tree. His spark sank as he scanned for their vehicle. Had it fallen after? He then noticed the tire lines going off the side down into a revine. He gasped and transformed so that he had some control on his descent.

He stepped down quickly to find the car had hit a tree and was pretty banged up. The driver was unconscious. He almost ran over and knelt before side the door. He tried to carefully open it and his servo grasped the human. He used his other to lay them down on so he could look at them. They were alive but he worried for their health.

“Come on y/n, wake up.” He whispered. They didn’t budge. He sighed looking around. They must have allied off the rest of the race as the other racers never passed above them. He stare down at the human in his servo and one of his digits came up to caress their face. The touch seemed to wake them and they stirred. He immediately thought about how they may react to a giant alien robot holding them. Before he foul think of a plan their eyes fluttered open and met his optics.

“Wh-what the hell!” They screamed and they began to fight. “Hey hey it’s okay it’s okay. It’s me, Knockout.” He had told them his name and they figured it was a nickname. They sure don’t now. His optics pleaded for them to understand.

The human was breathing heavily but they tried to calm down abit. “But you’re a robot? What do you mean you’re Knockout??” They asked. He sighed and began to set them down softly before standing back up and transforming into his alt-mode. They just stared.

“That’s why you never got out of the car?” They asked as if they were answering themself. He revved his engine and approached them slowly. He opened their door to reveal no one was in the drivers seat. Y/n was astonished before reality outside of this encounter hit them. They looked over to see their precious car against a tree and they huffed. It all started to hit them. They had crashed and must have gone unconscious before Knockout got them out. They looked back at the bot after inspecting the damage of their own car and walked back over. Knockout stayed in alt-mode as to not scare them further.

Their hand came down to the hood of Knockout and patted it as a thank you.

“You saved me.” They breathed softly. Knockout wouldn’t necessarily show how happy he was for the contact but the feeling of their hand felt wonderful

“Now I gotta get my car back to the shop.” Y/n sighed and stood before it with their hands on their hips. Knockout just admired them in thought.

“Okay the tow truck will be here in a minute. Thanks for everything! I’ll let ya get ho- where ever it is you stay.” Y/n tried to tell Knockout. They felt bad for him being here all this time. It was still rainy and the air was cold. He could see them visually shaking.

“I’m not going anywhere.” He spoke sternly. It was hard to take him seriously in his alt-mode but y/n shook their head. “No it’s okay. The tower will be here soon and I’ll just ride back to my shop.” They insisted. Knockout did not budge. Y/n groaned before shrugging. They gave in to his persistent nature.

“You look cold my dear, here.” He chuckled at their pouting before opened his door. Y/n looked at the empty seat hesitating. “You want me to sit in your car mode?” They watched their words as to not make it weird. Knockout really handy had anyone in his alt-mode but his spark felt warm thinking of this human protected where he could take care of them.

“Yes, don’t worry, it is safe.. and warm I might add.” They only nodded before stepping into the car and taking a seat in the passenger. They looked around and admired the state of his alt-mode. He took very good care of himself and it was like sitting inside a model vehicle. y/n stroked the console and door as they admired it. Knockout shook startling them.

“Sorry my dear, it use to this.” He then turned the heat on and let them warm up. They snuggled into the chair which he enjoyed as they waited for the tow truck. The rain almost putting them to sleep.

When the tow truck arrived they got out and greeted them leaving knockout in the rain to wait.

“Do you need a ride?” The Tow man asked not realizing Knockout was there which he responded by turning his brights on to blind the man. Y/n panicked and said the only thing that came to mind.

“Oh sorry, my boyfriend will drive me. He is persistent.” Knockout heard this and revved slightly in contentment. He liked the sound of that.

y/n ran back to the car and got in. They glared at the center dash like they were looking at Knockout. “Did you have to do that?” They grumbled in which he responded. “Of course, I am your boyfriend after all..” he chuckled which received a blush. “I didn’t know what to say. That came to mind first.” They hid their face.

Y/n had Knockout lead the tow truck to the shop and had them park the car at the entrance before they yawned and stepped in. They looked to see a Knockout still there. “If you need somewhere to sleep out of the rain you can pull in. There’s plenty of room. I use the room above the shop.” They exclaimed as Knockout pulled into the garage. When the door was down she transformer back and sat down to where he didn’t break anything. Y/n stood before him, gazing up at the massive bot. Knockout’s optics pierced their soul with a look of care as he admired them and their astonishment.

He reached out his servo for them to examine if they so wished, hoping they would trust him more. They examined it with their mechanical interest. “Youre so unreal.” They mumbled as they stroked the digits. He smirked a bit and his servo came to reach behind them and lay it upon their back. Each digit softly caressing. They gulped looking up at the bot. He then brought those digits to close around them and bring them close to his face. His other servo was brought up and as gently as he could stroke the hair from their face and check for any injury from earlier. Y/n wasn’t sure what he was doing until he started to poke at their joints.

“What are you? Some part of Doctor checking me for injury?” They giggled as it began to tickle.

“Actually yes.” He grinned. “I am a doctor of sorts. Of course I specialize in bots like myself. I was just worried for you.” He sighed. “I was so scared I lost you during that race. Seeing you unconscious… I didn’t care about my cover anymore.” He leaned in and his faceplate almost touched y/n.

They leaned forward in his servo and laid their head against his faceplate making him jump. “Thanks Knockout.” They whispered and then laid a light kiss on where their head had been.

After some time of them talking in person y/n laid some old cloth down and made a comfier place for him to sleep. Before they could say goodnight and walk up the stairs to their small apartment above they were grabbed by the waist by a digit. “Stay here. Please.” They heard the quietest this not had ever spoken. When they turned Knockout was looking elsewhere, maybe a bit embarrassed. They smiled softly and walked back to his side as he laid down. He was on his side looking down at the human as they gazed up at them. “Where am I suppose to sleep big guy?” They chuckled looking around. Before they could find a spot upon the blankets Knockout was already grabbing them and bringing them to his faceplate as he made himself comfortable with his head against the blankets. His head was partially on their side as they laid where he put them. They got the message he wanted them to snuggle his faceplate and accepted. Their hands stroking the different seams of metal. He seem to him as he snuggled closer and her servos wrapped around them cliched slightly.

“Goodnight, race star,” they whispered before laying a quick kiss upon his cheek.

BEHOLD…

MY MYTHSWAP AU!!!

So, in this Au, Crafty is the only non-mythical critter, while the other seven are all different kinds of mythical creatures!!!

Here’s each character here!!!

Even if Crafty is a plain ol’ pony in this au, they’re still just as important and loving as the others; in fact, they’re the ✨protagonist✨! They stumbled their way into the Realm of the Myths while taking a stroll as they thought about somewhere they could paint, before they met DogDay and Bobby in the woods. During their three years in the Realm of the Myths, Crafty’s been careful, they’ve been loved, and they’re learning more each day!

DogDay is a Werehound, but instead of every full moon, it’s every Solar Eclipse he turns into a monster, while every Lunar Eclipse, he’s your good ol’ normal sun dog!

His younger sibling, CatNap, is a Sphinx, well, except without the “human face” part, lol… Much like his brother, they, too, can turn into a monster, except it’s more at will, and mostly during waxing crescent moons!

Bobby Bearhug is an Onikuma, although, she did use to be an average critter, like Crafty. She, along with Picky, brings in food for the others every night. She stays close by with CatNap because when she became a demon, he was right there by her side… d’awww!

Kickin’ Chicken is a Cockatrice, and since it doesn’t really specify what kind of dragon the rooster has to be, he’s part leviathan! He’s an expert at surfing, and is basically the “rich, popular kid” trope (except he’s the sweetest to his friends!) He and Bubba were best friends ever since they were toddlers, and Kickin wouldn’t want their flame to extinguish any time soon! He even talks about many different themes whilst baking with his sister, so that he doesn’t get too bored.

Bubba Bubbaphant is a Siren (mainly because none of the mythical elephants didn’t really fit ToT), but instead of singing and testing the limits of his beautiful voice (/j), he infodumps about one’s interests to try reeling them in! The nerd’s a bit meaner in this AU, since ocean sirens are usually that way, but he can tolerate his friends!

Picky Piggy is a Boar; she’s pretty violent, but that doesn’t stop her from having fun with her friends! In fact, she uses her violent tendencies to her advantage whenever she cooks! She’s Crafty’s best friend, and she’s the one who made them their “horn” out of a party hat! Picky’s the (adoptive) older sister of Kickin, and she makes sure he’s healthy, both physically and psychologically! (What a sweet sister… sob…)

And last, but DEFINITELY not the least, Hoppy Hopscotch, the jumping Jackalope! She’s pretty mischievous, in fact, to the point where DogDay made her own Time Out Chair™️! She even steals all of the coffee sometimes, so that she can have more energy than when she’s normally hyperactive; but, she is patient whenever she needs to — in fact, out of all of them, she’s likely the most patient.

BTW!!! You can ship anything in this AU, but I have only 3 simple rules:

Nothing Problematic

Nothing that would be in Alabama

And each ship should be to each character’s romantic interest

For example, on what each critter is (of course, there are all headcanons):

After ages I bring another LoveLetter character to the table! Which also means they’re now available for questions 💙✨

Kore used to be Moon, shock of all shock, and they’re very very different now as y’all can see

Kore is in charge of helping people through romantic relationships, both getting into them and working through already being in one

They’ve learned all the ways of human flirting and has accidentally swooned people before, but it’s just to help humans flirt with other humans

Similarly to the others Kore can only be seen should they allow it, and they tend to perch on windows to listen to late night woes of the people they’re helping

Kore’s stamp similar to Callisto and Solei is on every letter they send

Kore is a deer, a very gray deer but a deer all the same

Kore is very extra about their fashion, though they’re much more consistent than Callisto. They tend to prefer long flowing clothes and would rather be caught dead than without their hat

Kore has the Diamond suit as their motif

Kore is of Norwegian Descent and speaks Norwegian as their primary language outside of their species specific language which all the others speak as well. While they might be speaking Norwegian, if someone’s first language is English, they’d hear them as if they were speaking perfect English, and this is the same for any and all other languages

Loves walks in the gardens and is an expert in all things floral

Kore doesn’t understand the word casual, except when sleeping, though they don’t do it to be haughty

Kore is a good chef and tends to do most of the cooking when the others want to try a food they saw someone else eat while working

An avid tea drinker, almost always has a cup when they’re not busy, has more than once cried over an incredible blend being lost to history

Frequently plays the violin, which Callisto really enjoys and likes to tell the other kids about

Tallest: 6 foot 8

Non-binary

Very fluid in gender expression tending to lean slightly fem

Kore doesn’t really like beef, they won’t not eat it entirely but they gravitate towards fish or chicken for a meat instead

Kore also likes tofu and likes to experiment with it in meals

Kore tends to act as the calm big sibling of the group, helping Callisto when Solei is busy since he tends to be the busiest out of the group, besides maybe the twins

They have a small collection of tea sets, only having a particular few they’ve felt connected to enough to keep

They have a tendency to sit with one leg crossed over the other, simply because

Wisper Ref Sheet!!

I’ve finally finished the ref sheet for my beloved tadc oc, Wisper! Hope y’all like them, I put an ungodly amount of work into this. Pop, the car character, is the tadc oc of my friend Star (link to their Unvale here). And without further ado, here are some other random bits of information about Wisper that I couldn’t fit on the ref sheet.

Wisper has a Northern British English Accent. Wisper worked at a daycare in it’s human life, but after the death of one of the children in a freak accident, they spiraled, quit their job, and began living in their apartment’s bedroom. It blames themself for the death, even though it was only partially responsible for one small factor out of several in this accidental and unpreventable fatality. I have a playlist for Wisper on my Spotify, link to that here. The line up at the bottom of the ref sheet serves as both a height comparison, but also displays the order in which the characters (other than Caine and Bubble) appeared in the circus, Wisper appeared after Jax and before Gangle (also before Pop since I included them in this). The best way I can describe their personality is neutral. They’re not super dramatic or anxious or happy, they’re just kind of there. They don’t have the most energy and are generally very mellow. Wisper is the mom friend of the group along with Ragatha, acting as a voice of reason, common sense, and self preservation. Despite it’s generally calm demeanor, Wisper is also prone to panic attacks, burnout, depression kicking it’s ass, and more, because Wisper, like all the other characters here, is mentally ill/disabled, imbued with trauma, and very much in need of a therapist. When Wisper holds their breath, their cloud wool evaporates. It’s Myers Briggs Personality Type is ESFJ-T.

Text above Ragatha: Very close friends. They often give each other hugs. And are both constantly trying to keep everyone out of trouble.

Text above Jax: He’s an asshole and Wisper is constantly done with him. But this doesn’t stop Jax from going out of his way to harass it.

Text above Pop: It finds Pop a bit too overwhelming but when he calms down they like making music together.

Text above Gangle: Good friends (or dating depending on how I’m feeling). Gangle likes to listen to it sing, Wisper likes to see her art, and they both enjoy reading together. Lots of hugs, too.

Text above Zooble: They can relate to each other. They’ve both mastered gender-fuckery and are tired of everyone’s bullshit.

Text above Pomni: Relatively neutral. But every now and then they’ll make small talk or pair up on an adventure or something.

Hydrodynamic AU

uhhh hi so. This has been cooking in my brain for a few months now (6???) and basically it’s a ROTTMNT Separated AU with Donnie as the focus but like, y’know. It’s all of them. I call it Hydrodynamic AU cause a lot of it comes from Donnie being more…water-based I suppose?? Either way. Yeah.

The story (if I ever find the willpower to draw it up) would revolve around Donnie going out and finding their siblings in the various locations; not to try and turn them towards the side of light or whatever. Donnie just wants to hang out. The universe has other plans, however.

More on each character under the cut!!! And lmk if any of you are interested in this!

Donatello Hamato

•Raised by Splinter

•They/them pronouns (Non-binary!!)

•Goes by the usual canon nicknames, but mainly uses “Dee”

•This Dee’s whole thing is being extremely water-based

•Donnie actually knows Repo Mantis before he got mutated! They started sneaking into his junkyard as a kid and got caught and they actually bonded

•When Don got older, they started helping Repo out with repossessing work; the two are even closer after Repo mutated!

•Don usually doesn’t wear their battleshell in this AU! It gets in the way of swimming stuff, so they prefer to be without it most of the time

•All of their stuff is painstakingly designed to the waterproof

•The whole lair has a ton of water slides in it, it’s super fun

•AUTISTIC!!!

•Don is extremely bad at socializing and doesn’t know how to mask (nor do they care for it). Can’t identify social cues well.

•Still friends with April; Don also hangs out with the Purple Dragons regularly (they give them ✨validation✨)

•Athletic only in how they’re an avid swimmer

•Really likes Lou Jitsu movies, and likes hearing their father talk about the films

•Splinter helps them train when they ask, thought Donnie also trains on their own with just. Copious amounts of research and looking up techniques

•Splinter is also extremely overprotective of D due to both their soft shell and the fact that he lost D’s siblings previously.

•More open to active destruction than canon Don?? At least in the way that’s like. More disregarding the well-being of others sometimes. Basically this Donnie doesn’t have their brothers to stop them from doing stuff. Violence and loose morals ensue.

•Builds Shelldon earlier on in life (was lonely and wanted company)

•Don has thoroughly explored the city’s sewers and set up tons of markers so they wouldn’t get lost; they’ve practically memorized the layout underground by now. Don has also installed a filtration system in the sewers to help take care of pollution because they don’t like how icky the waters can get

•Uses more turtle noises than actual words at times

•Fights with tech bō staff, but also knows the basics of other weapons; has the second most proficiency in daggers/knives.

•Doesn’t know anything about mysticism until meeting Mars and Draxum

•Technically, Donnie meets Mars first, then Leo, then Rento. However, we later find out that Don has met one of their siblings beforehand and knew of their existence. But that’s for later.

Marciano Draxum

•Raised by Draxum

•He/they pronouns

•Goes by Mars most commonly, but other nicknames include Marc, Marcie, Mar-Mar, Marky, Marce, and Marcus

•Draxum is actually a good parent okay

•Instead of Doctor Feelings and Doctor Delicate Touch, we get Sir Feelings and Sir Delicate Touch (they’re used as ranks, it’s some class thing idk. It’s ranked below Baron is all I know)

•Feral

•At a certain age Draxum started letting them out more (with supervision) and Mars got super friendly with all the yōkai he came across!! Due to this, Draxum has a much stronger active relationship with the Hidden City yōkai community.

•Mars uses their free time to create art around the Hidden City

•Has never seen the surface; wonders what the sky looks like

•Extremely strong mystic powers that were discovered early on

•Mars knows like, everyone in the city, and by the time they’re older are allowed to go about it from the lab as he pleases.

•Has a secret fascination with humans and their stuff that he keeps from his dad

•Draxum mellows out a tad raising Mars, being fatherly and all that. Still wants to take down humanity, he just wouldn’t do it if it meant endangering his child.

•Mars is an extremely adept fighter, having trained with Draxum since they were able to.

•Secret love for Lou Jitsu movies that he found one day in the yōkai markets

•He and Leo have met before and they have a very intense rivalry. Those two. Do not like one another.

•The reason behind the name “Marciano” is that I doubted Draxum would name his kid after some human artist. “Marciano” has French, Italian, and Latin origins, though I was mainly going for Latin when I chose it. It means little warrior! The name also has a lot of relation to the Roman god of war, Mars, which also happens to be the main nickname I picked! So it fits.

•Doesn’t like to kill; would rather thoroughly incapacitate a person through extreme measures instead.

•Terrible swimmer

•Draxum’s whole place is a lot more…nice looking? It’s got more style and creativity to it. Mars helped decorate.

•Fights with kusari-fundo and hand-to-hand mostly. Also knows the basics of fighting with other weapons.

Leonardo

•Raised by Big Mama

•He/him pronouns

•Trans man

•Goes by Leo most commonly; the other in-canon nicknames still apply too

•Both outfits are colored after Leo’s pride flags

•The paint designs vary a lot, Leo likes to show variety

•After meeting Donnie, he actually starts to incorporate more purple into his color scheme!

•Gay gay gay gay gay gay GAY.

•Fights in the Battle Nexus for fun; really loves the thrill of it.

•Spoiled

•Manipulative as fuck, picked it up from his mother. EXTREMELY good at lying

•Gets bored easily and will act out to negate this feeling

•Much more prone to violence than in canon (or at least to anger)

•The name Rento has a few meanings to it, but I mainly chose it because it started with an R and it fit. And was of Japanese origin.

•Cassandra is adamant about the two of them being siblings, and since Ren didn’t have a last name of her own, Cass shared hers

•The entire Foot Clan will annihilate you if you hurt Rento in any way

—situationships in queer relationships ᝰ.ᐟ

dating is already a mess, but queer dating? a whole new level of confusion. and that’s where situationships come in. basically, it’s like you’re kind of together, but also... not really. no labels, no clear direction, just vibezzzz (and maybe some unresolved emotional tension lol)

queer people deal with situationships a lot. sometimes it’s intentional, sometimes it’s a trauma response, and sometimes it’s just the reality of modern dating. but before we dive into why this happens, let’s break down how situationships show up in different types of queer relationships.

note: i will not be talking about all queer types. just a few chosen ones, so that everybody can understand what i am talking about more or less.

╭┉┈ what are we?

gay situationships (mlm, gay men, bi/pan men, etc.)

commitment issues? check.

emotional vulnerability? no thanks.

hookup culture taking over? absolutely.

the gay dating scene is wild. a lot of it is built around casual connections— grindr, tinder, and the whole "no strings attached" mindset. some people are genuinely chill with that, but for others, it turns into a cycle of emotional detachment. they want something real, but they’re scared to admit it. situationship unlocked.

lesbian situationships (wlw, sapphic, bi/pan women, etc.)

is this a relationship or just extreme emotional closeness?

we’ve been "talking" for six months, should i say something?

overthinking every single text message.

wlw dynamics are weird because they can go from zero to moving in together fast. but when they don’t? it’s just months of deep emotional bonding with zero clarity. both people keep waiting for the other to define the relationship, and before you know it, you’re stuck in a "do we like each other or are we just best friends who hold hands and make out?" loop.

trans women + cishet men situationships

"i really like you, but i’m not ready to go public."

secret relationships & low-effort commitment.

fetishization vs. actual respect.

shemale assumption.

this one is rough. a lot of cishet men who date trans women aren’t actually ready to date trans women. they like the idea, but they’re scared of what people will think, so they keep it lowkey. sometimes it’s just internalized transphobia, sometimes it’s straight-up cowardice. either way, it leaves trans women stuck in situationships where they’re never treated like a real partner.

non-binary + genderqueer situationships

"i don’t believe in labels" (until it’s convenient).

people acting confused about attraction instead of just vibing.

getting misgendered in a relationship that isn’t even a relationship.

non-binary dating is weird because people either hyper-fixate on your gender identity or pretend it doesn’t exist. situationships happen a lot because partners don’t know how to navigate attraction outside the gender binary, so they just... avoid defining anything at all.

╭┉┈ why do situationships even happen in queer relationships?

fear of commitment (but make it ✨queer trauma✨)

rejection? abandonment? never feeling truly wanted? does these sound familiar :)

a lot of queer people grow up without healthy relationship role models.

choosing emotional safety over vulnerability.

bad communication (or just straight-up avoidance)

"we don’t need labels" = "i don’t want to talk about what this actually is."

waiting for the other person to bring it up.

assuming the other person wants the same thing without asking.

exploration & self-discovery

queer people often use situationships to figure out their sexuality/gender.

sometimes you don’t even know what you want yet, so defining it feels impossible.

personally talking, i'm kinda ok with this one if it's said before the situationship starts.

social stigma & external pressure

some people keep things casual because they’re scared of being outed.

others don’t want to deal with society’s expectations of what their relationship should look like.

so, what’s the impact of all this?

anxiety and emotional exhaustion from never knowing where you stand.

reinforcing a culture of non-commitment in queer spaces.

for some, it’s empowering. for others, it’s just sad.

the truth is, situationships aren’t inherently bad. they can be a way to explore relationships without pressure. but when they’re built on avoidance, miscommunication, or fear? that’s when it gets toxic. queer people deserve relationships that feel safe, stable, and fulfilling whether they come with a label or not.

╭┉┈ types of queer situationships & the unique struggles they bring

so let’s break down the different types of queer situationships, because every community has its own unique spin on these emotionally messy scenarios. and trust me, each one has its own flavor of confusion.

gay situationships (mlm, gay men, bi/pan men, etc.)

commitment? nah, let’s keep it casual.

emotions? uh, maybe later.

hookup culture taking over? you know it.

gay dating is tricky. like, on one hand, hookup culture is all about instant gratification, so it’s easy to fall into a situationship where no one is really sure what’s going on. maybe you’ve been texting, maybe you’ve hooked up a few times, but does that mean you’re together? well... not exactly.

fear of emotional vulnerability is huge here. a lot of gay men (and bi/pan men too) are scared to open up because they've been hurt before. maybe they've had bad experiences with rejection or discrimination, so instead of risking heartbreak, they keep things chill and avoid anything that resembles a real relationship.

toxic masculinity plays a role too. like, there's this idea that being too emotional or vulnerable makes you “weak” or less of a man. so, even if there’s a real connection, it stays unsaid or undefined.

grindr and dating apps don’t help. apps make everything seem like it’s either a hookup or nothing at all, which keeps everyone in the non-committal zone.

lesbian situationships (wlw, sapphic, bi/pan women, etc.)

"are we dating or just really close friends?"

"i’m emotionally invested, but do i even want to define this?"

"okay, so when do we become official?"

now, wlw situationships are a whole vibe. lesbians (and bi/pan women) have a unique problem: everything can get really intense emotionally, really fast. you’re spending hours texting, hanging out, sharing intimate details of your life, but then… is it a relationship? and if you don’t call it that, what are you even doing?

the "U-Haul" stereotype is a real thing, but not in the way people think. (U-Haul is a stereotype in lesbians which is about lesbians going from "hi, what's your name?" to "let's move in, get married and adopt a cat!") it’s not always about moving in right away, but it’s about how quickly emotions can get tangled, even if the commitment isn’t there yet. so when emotions are high and clarity is low, that’s prime situationship territory.

miscommunication is often the culprit. someone wants to make it official, but they’re scared to rock the boat, so they don’t say anything. meanwhile, the other person might be waiting for an official "let’s be a thing" moment and is too afraid to ask.

there’s also this fear of labeling—being queer, especially in spaces that aren’t always supportive, means avoiding labels that feel too limiting. but sometimes, that avoidance just creates more tension.

trans women + cishet men situationships

"i’m into you, but i’m not ready for everyone to know."

"i’m attracted to you, but am i allowed to love you publicly?"

"is this just a phase, or is it real?"

this one’s messy for a lot of reasons. cishet men dating trans women can face a ton of internalized issues, ranging from fetishization to shame. trans women often get stuck in situationships where they’re not treated like actual partners— just a "forbidden" attraction.

cis-het men who date trans women may not be ready to go public with it. they might worry about how society or their friends will react, especially if they’re not comfortable with their attraction to trans women.

fetishization is a huge issue here. trans women might get seen as "exotic" or a "novelty" rather than a partner, and that’s damaging. when this is the case, situationships become more about exploring an idea of a trans woman than respecting her as a real person. shemale? get a life.

transphobia also plays a huge role. many cishet men are in situationships because they don’t know how to process the relationship without internalized transphobia, and they might hide their dating life to avoid confrontation.

non-binary + genderqueer situationships

"wait, so what are we?"

"i’m not sure how to label this, so i’m not going to label it at all."

"how do we navigate this attraction without enforcing gender norms?"

non-binary and genderqueer people face a unique set of challenges in dating. dating outside the binary means avoiding labels, which can be freeing, but also confusing when it comes to navigating relationships.

many partners are unsure how to navigate attraction to non-binary folks because they’re not working with a clear gender binary. this can lead to a lot of unclear expectations.

misgendering is common—sometimes, people will call their non-binary partner by the wrong pronouns without thinking or because they don’t know better. and when a non-binary person is in a situationship, it’s harder to set boundaries or communicate feelings without feeling misunderstood.

situationships happen when the other person can’t move beyond their own confusion or limited understanding of gender. it’s easier to not define things than to face the discomfort of breaking out of the traditional relationship structure.

queerplatonic situationships (friends-to-lovers ambiguity, etc.)

"we’re super close, but am i actually in love with you?"

"i love you, but do i love you that way?"

"can we be queerplatonic partners and not define it as romantic?"

this one’s for all the queerplatonic relationships out there. these relationships are often intense, emotional, and deep—but they don’t always follow the usual romantic or friendship lines.

friends-to-lovers situationships are very real, and sometimes it’s hard to tell if you’re just really close friends or actually developing romantic feelings.

aro/ace spectrum dynamics can make things even more complicated because some people don’t experience attraction in the same way. when someone’s relationship doesn’t fit the traditional romantic mold, they’re left to figure out how to label it—or if they even need to.

emotional intimacy can be just as strong, if not stronger, than sexual attraction, leading to long-term situationships where no one feels the need to define the relationship beyond the emotional connection.

this is just a glimpse of how situationships show up across different queer relationships. each one has its own set of struggles, but they all have one thing in common— confusion and lack of clarity.

╭┉┈ why do queer situationships even happen?

let’s get into why situationships happen in the first place. like, why do so many queer people end up in these undefined, emotionally draining, sometimes fun-but-mostly-confusing relationships? well, it’s not just "modern dating culture." it runs way deeper than that.

commitment issues feat. queer trauma

rejection. abandonment. never feeling truly wanted.

growing up without healthy relationship models makes commitment terrifying.

emotional detachment becomes a defense mechanism.

so many queer people grew up in environments where love was conditional—or where they weren’t even allowed to explore love freely. if you’ve spent your whole life being told your identity is wrong or that you’ll never find a "real" partner, of course you’re gonna have issues with commitment.

attachment styles come into play too. many queer people develop avoidant attachment, where they crave connection but push people away before they can be hurt. others fall into anxious attachment, where they latch onto someone who isn’t fully available, hoping they’ll finally be chosen.

bad communication (or straight-up avoidance)

exploration & self-discovery (aka "am i actually into this person or am i just figuring myself out?")

sometimes, situationships happen because people are still figuring out their identity.

basically, the world still has a long way to go in respecting queer relationships, and that pressure seeps into how people date.

the hookup culture dilemma (i hate this one)

dating apps make it way too easy to keep things surface-level.

the fear of "settling" keeps people from committing.

ghosting and low-effort dating are normalized.

hookup culture isn’t inherently bad, but let’s be real—it feeds into situationships.

there’s always this feeling of "someone better might be out there," so people hesitate to commit.

some people are on the aromantic spectrum and don’t experience romantic attraction the same way, but still want closeness.

so while some situationships are accidental or messy, others are actually just a new way of looking at relationships that don’t follow the traditional dating structure.

so... are situationships good or bad?

tbh, it depends. situationships aren’t inherently bad, but they’re not always healthy either.

if both people are on the same page and genuinely happy? cool.

if one person wants more and the other is just stringing them along? yikes.

if it’s all based on fear, avoidance, or trauma? double yikes.

at the end of the day, queer people deserve relationships that make them feel safe, wanted, and respected— whether that’s a full-on committed relationship or a situationship that actually works for both people.

╭┉┈ how to escape (or survive) a queer situationship:

alright, so now we know why queer situationships happen. but what if you’re in one and you’re tired of the constant confusion? maybe you want more, maybe you want less, or maybe you just want to stop overthinking every interaction. whatever the case, here’s how to either escape the mess or survive it without losing your mind.

figure out what you actually want

do you want a relationship, or are you okay with the undefined chaos?

are you emotionally attached, or are you just vibing?

is this situation actually fulfilling, or are you just scared to let go?

before doing anything, ask yourself: what do i actually want?

if you do want a relationship, are you okay with waiting for the other person to be ready, or is that just gonna hurt you more?

if you don’t want a relationship, is the situationship actually healthy, or are you just avoiding commitment?

are you staying because you genuinely like this dynamic, or because you’re scared of being alone?

self-awareness is key. once you know what you want, you’ll know what your next step should be.

communicate (yes, even if it’s scary)

"so… what are we?" is a terrifying question, but necessary.

avoiding the talk = prolonging the mess.

be direct. like, painfully clear.

if you’re in a situationship, you need to talk about it—even if your brain is screaming "let’s just ignore this forever."

you don’t need a dramatic intervention, just a simple "hey, i just want to understand where we stand."

avoid vague questions like "what are we doing?" because that can be dodged. instead, try "do you see this as something serious or casual?"

if you’re scared they’ll get weird or distant after the convo, well… that’s kinda the point. better to know now than waste more time.

and remember: if someone refuses to have this conversation, that’s your answer.

set boundaries (because your feelings matter)

define what you are okay with.

don’t let the other person’s indecision dictate your self-worth.

if someone makes you feel like your needs are a burden, they’re just proving they aren’t the right person for you.

tl;dr: know your worth, communicate, and don’t settle for bs

if you want more, ask for it. if they can’t give it, move on.

if you’re happy with the way things are, just make sure it’s actually what you want.

if you feel like you’re stuck in an emotional limbo, you probably are. get out.

whether you end the situationship, define it, or just learn from it, the goal is the same: you deserve relationships that make you feel secure, not ones that leave you constantly questioning where you stand.

so, after all this, what’s the takeaway? are situationships evil? should queer people just delete dating apps, move to the woods, and never interact again? not exactly.

situationships aren’t bad. sometimes, they can be fun, low-pressure, and exactly what both people need. but when they’re built on avoidance, mixed signals, and unspoken expectations, they can become draining as hell.

the key isn’t to avoid situationships entirely— it’s to make sure that whatever dynamic you’re in, it’s one that actually works for you.

the queer dating reality check

queer dating is already complicated because society doesn’t give us the same relationship blueprints.

🛳 Are there any new ships you want to write for? (Platonic, romantic, or anything in between.)

Hmmm🤔 I don’t know if I have any ships as such that I have like concrete plans for fics that revolve around. But there are definitely some friendships and characters that I have ideas for, like things I can see them having in common.

Since forever I’ve wanted to dive into why everyone except Carlos looks surprised when Nancy hints that she’s dated women! And how their friendship developed. So that’s definitely one.

I also have an idea that includes TK having thoughts about maybe being non-binary and how he might go to Nancy and talk about like. Imposter syndrome in the queer environment and coming out. And Carlos talking to Paul about his feelings about keeping his ‘gay’ label because that has personal value for him given his history growing up as a gay man of color in Texas. I could see Paul and Carlos having in common that they’re both very logical thinkers and would have tried to use logic in their grappling with labels and Paul being able to give advice on that because he already went though the process of figuring out his gender and sexuality and how those interfere with each other when it comes to labels.

And then I have a Jonah fic still very much in the idea scapes too! That answer got long haha sorry I’ll try to reign myself in🤣

🥵 Any plans to write steamy or spicy content this year?

Heheheheh - yes. I get a lot of ideas for spicey scenes and I’ve begun to try and kind of store them so they’ll fit into larger fics but I also have ideas for fics that are all about the spice ! For example one called ✨Shaving Fic✨ wherein Carlos discovers a new kink and one where TK pranks Carlos with Carlos’ own Sexy Playlist.

👻 Is there a new genre you'd like to write?

I don’t know if it counts as genre but I’d like to practice getting more plotty! And writing chaptered fics. I also have a Meet Cute AU in the works. I guess if I write the Jonah one that’ll be a kid!Fic of sorts if we’re talking fandom genres something that I didn’t think I’d ever write! I like sickfics and h/c so maybe I should delve into that too at some point and don’t worry too about whether people will find it weird or want to read it!

🥕 What's one area of your writing that you think needs the most amount of improvement?

Definitely having more plot and faster pace and working with an outline instead of just letting my brain take me out on an extremely long introspective tangent!

🐾 Do you plan on writing for any fests or competitions?

If I can find the time and inspiration for it I’d like to do @morganaspendragonss ‘s angst fest that she and some others are thinking of arranging and the Fandom Trumps Hate!

heyyy loveeee so this is just a little rant :) (you don’t gotta respond tbh)

So I actually wanna make an Aupair year in California when I graduate school in like- 4 years. But I’m a huge family person and I don’t know if I’ll survive (I love being dramatic) without my family. Cause while I’m in America they’ll be in Germany. but on the other hand, my plans for my future are all far away from Germany (cause I hate Germany and my fuck ass city). but I low-key really wanna do it for the experience. Another thing I’m not sure about is if I’m gonna make friends or if it’s gonna be an emotional crisis. Cause I’m pretty introverted and with my social anxiety I don’t really talk to strangers🙂

second thing is- I kinda had a fallout with my best friends. I’m starting to believe that I’m the problem here lol. Anyways. We often talk about politics a shit and she *very* often says some very racist shit. And since two weeks or so her other two best friend, who are also my best friends, started saying that too. In general we argue a lot about opinions. for example today i said trans and non binary people should be respected and treated properly and they said they wanna go to Russia cause trans people are killed there for coming out cause it’s “inhuman”. Tf? They call themselves feminists btw…🥲💀

another one of these was that they said their standard was that their future boyfriends always have to pay for food, etc. and then I said that that shouldnt be the norm cause if they date boys their age, so 15 or 16, they’re just as broke as they are. I mean okay- they can pay once or twice. But not always. And they considered my opinion as “low standard”. Bitch be fr😭

there are a lot of other things they say that trigger me. Like about my crush and all. They always make fun of me for liking him and all. But that’s a whole other story.

Okay but seriously jsjs

🩶💙 Gemma/Flynn:

- for starters, their ship name, to me, is Cobalt (bc it’s both a metal & a shade of blue + it also fits with their shared engineering hobby ✨)

- Gemma is an AuDHD pan woman & Flynn is her token cishet white dude boyfriend who loves her very much (the thought of Flynn being like, the one straight person in his otherwise very queer friend group is just rlly funny to me~)

- Gemma also uses her diary as an ideas notebook/invention planner & a sketchbook; she likes to draw, & she has a very good eye for art & design; she has a bunch of drawings of Flynn in there :]

- Flynn doesn’t exactly ‘get’ Gemma’s more “childish” interests, but he’s very supportive, & he’s definitely gifted her an accumulative army of plushies at this point lol

- They LOVE watching shows/movies together (usually superhero media, but I’m sure Flynn is also a glass closet fan of at least some non-superhero anime as well~ ✨)

💚🤍 Ziggy/Dr. K (Greenscreen my beloveds 🫶):

- They’re bi-ace4bi-ace & Ziggy is transmasc non-binary (he/they); they’re also both autistic & Ziggy has ADHD

- Ziggy can only barely pick up K when morphed, but she can pick him up with little to no issue (is it because she’s actually jacked, or is it because Ziggy has a bmi of 2? who knows, maybe both-)

- K is incredibly touch starved & Ziggy is very physically affectionate, so they’re more cuddly than one might expect jsjs

- They’ve both become impulse-buying plushie collectors while dating & their living space very much reflects this lol

- Most of their ‘dates’ are spent snuggled up on the couch watching movies while eating junk food (Megamind & Lego Batman are a couple of their go-tos); when they do go out, it’s typically for a mall Build-a-Bear date, or sometimes an aquarium date- (accompanied by ice cream usually~)

I recently came out (?) to one of my LGBTQ families.

(Yes, I have multiple LGBTQ families, and I’m proud of it! 🏳️‍🌈)

But I’m not really sure if that was a genuine coming out, because I’m still uncertain about the whole situation. I just feel something inside me is growing stronger and after I shared it with my family, I felt lighter and happier somehow (I hadn't talked to anyone in my real life about my confusion before).

The term "non-binary" really caught my attention when I first saw it. However, I don’t seem to struggle with my bio sex (♀), and my partner’s bio sex is the opposite of mine. Everything looks "normal" in a certain "standard" way, so I dismissed the idea that I might be one of them (for the record, I’m still not quite sure). Despite this, I’ve always sensed there’s something "more" beneath the surface.

I’ve never quite fit into the social circle of my bio sex, in fact, I even have some FEARS towards them. I’m also not very aware of my bio sex—it feels like it’s not really important to me. Sometimes I wear clothes designed to fit and highlight my figure (but not overly so), but I wear them simply because I look good in them. Most of the time, I wear boyish clothes, half of my wardrobe comes from the men's department. My interests are pretty boyish too. I love hardcore sci-fi, spaceships, dinosaurs, kaiju, etc. (…one of the reasons I don’t quite fit into girls’ social circles. I know it’s not right to assume that girls represent feminine interests, but that has been my experience. Most of the girls I’ve met really don’t understand why I’m so into these things)

As time went on, the concept of "non-binary" didn’t fade from my mind. On the contrary, I kept googling that term every time I stumbled upon it, but I always told myself that the evidence was still weak, until recently...

I suddenly realized that I sometimes approach things with a male mindset. The most obvious moment was when I drew my M/M NSFW artworks (I restarted drawing NSFW this month, which is why this realization hit me recently). I’m all for detachable "DxxK" (not a toy, but a real functional one), if there’s any magic that can accomplish this.🤣 Maybe drawing M/M NSFW is my way of coping with the desires related to my male side? I can’t help but think this. (My male side still loves men if that’s what you’re asking 😉✨)

At this point, I feel like I’m probably made up of 60% female and 40% male? That might be why I’m not overly distressed by my bio sex.

It took me a while to decide to post about my gender exploration here because I was afraid it might offend people who are 100% sure they’re LGBTQ thinking of me as just an unqualified candidate trying to find a community to fit into. However, I thought my experiences might help some people who are still as confused as I am, and maybe people here can help me find my way too.

After years of waiting, Gala, my galaxy sona, finally gets a ref! I’ve had Gala for ages but they never got a proper ref until now. Art fight finally gave me the excuse to do it and here they are! They’ll be on art fight so, if anyone wants to draw fan art you’re more than welcome to!

Incase any text is difficult to read. The hair is always floating. Their eyes never fully open. Gala has tiny lil fangs. They’re always sleepy as well. They’re non binary with no gendered anatomy. Gala also constantly floats but it’s completely aimless when they’re sleeping which is, almost all the time. The white freckles on their face glow in the dark along with all the other stars on their outfit and especially the one on their sweater.

TL;DR

Transformers Earthspark s2a is boring because nothing happens. Also Nightshade erasure :((

I binged the entire season 1 (I’m a relatively new transformers fan, so when I learned of the existence of Earthspark, s1 has already finished airing) and when I wanted to do the same for s2a, I found myself unable to. I think I watched the first 3 episodes before taking a break (around 2-3 weeks maybe?) because they BORED me to no end. I eventually finished s2a and… IDK it hasn’t really clicked?

Robby and Mo are so boring, their entire charm just vanished.? I don’t think Dot and Alex did anything (except for Alex taking part in that competition). Chaos Terrans don’t matter and neither do the cons. Autobots also don’t do anything.

There is no advancement on the plot (because quite frankly what is the plot of this season? Stopping the cons? Ok. From what exactly? The Emberstone was destroyed and I don’t really think anything was set up)

As for advancing this half’s plot there was the stunning number of ✨3✨ episodes ( 1, 9 and 10). I have nothing against filler episodes (I mostly enjoy them as a way for different character interactions) but these were just boring. Neither the individual episode plots were interesting nor the character focused interactions, because most characters are flat now 😔

Transformers as a franchise has a problem with human characters (not you Burns family, you are the exceptions 🫶 and Agent Fowler) mostly because no one really wants them? The audience is already human and we watch transformers for the aliens believe it or not. But they’re added anyway as a way for kids to insert themselves into the show and I guess to show off human culture (even tho cybertronian culture is way more interesting (thank you Cyberverse for not waisting your limited runtime with humans)) to the bots.

Coming back to Earthspark, the concept of a human family adopting the Terrans is interesting and fresh. I love found family and season 1 made sure to make the family bond believable but I don’t really see it anymore in s2a.

Jawbreaker and Nightshade practically don’t interact with the others. ESPECIALLY Nightshade, like where were they?? 🤨

That’s SO weird that the ONLY non binary character just fades out of existence 😀

I can’t call myself Nightshades biggest fan (or even a fan? More like enjoyer) but it IS pretty upsetting. I’m cis so I can’t really talk on the behalf of those Nightshade represents but I like to think of myself as NOT a total idiot. Just because they don’t mean much to me, personally, doesn’t mean I’m not able to recognise the possibility of someone getting attached to them and erasure of representation is just shitty.

As for the most boring episode, for me it’s a tie between “Dude, where’s my trailer” and “The butterfly effect” (honorary mention to “Togetherness”)

1. “Dude, where’s my trailer” is a generic “kids mess up and are scared of telling the adults so they try to do it on their own”. Usually in this type of story the kids either aren’t able to do it on their own or just confess even if they succeeded (like in this case). And idk 🤷‍♀️ This was just way too predictable. Personally I’d have Optimus join Robby and Hashtag in looking for the trailer and NOT find it immediately. Because SURPRISE adults aren’t all knowing and this believe that the moment you become an adult you stop having trouble is false advertisement. It would also be a good way for Optimus to bond with the kids (they would have more time because we wouldn’t be cutting back to him and Jawbreaker all the time). I just don’t understand why this takes up the entire episode? Nothing happens! We don’t even see the competition. Why do they even struggle with finding it when Nightshade apparently put cameras everywhere??

2. “The butterfly effect” is about Robby, Mo, Twitch and Thrash going to an amusement park and that’s it? Nothing happens. Again. Robby meets a girl who has equally bad taste in food as him, so naturally he gets a crush. What a love story❤️. The others feel his emotions and personally I found that as second hand embarrassing. There’s also this guy (Fairmaestro) he’s just there. He has one of the ember shards and forces Cosmos into his alt mode and turns him into a rollercoaster. But he isn’t important or really fun as a villain either. Also Robby, Mo, Twitch and Thrash somehow combine? Like normal combiners except worse because it looks mostly like Twitch and hardly like Thrash 👍 Robby and Mo are just inside so they aren’t important at all. (Especially because the next episode Jawbreaker does it with Aftermath??? So I’m guessing it’s something with the Emberstone and in the finally Terrans are gonna combine since there’s 5 of them, like normal combiner groups)

In conclusion s2a episode concepts are boring and they don’t further the familial relationship between Maltos or the Autobots (the least they could have done is strengthen Terran-Autobot bonds, since they couldn’t do it for the Decepticons for whatever reason) so nothing of importance actually happens.

I’ll be watching s2b, because I’m curious where this is going (as in I have no idea what s2b could possibly be about).

Crossing my fingers there’ll be Nightshade centric episodes 🤞
