Simon riley who picked up underground street fighting the first time he was forced on leave. He couldn't stand the idea of just doing nothing.
Is he heavily against organized crime? Yes. Yes, he is.
Is it currently the lesser of two evils, between that and doing something possibly (probably) regrettable? Yes. Yes, it is.
At least everyone getting hurt knows what they're getting into, plus he never takes it that too far.
He goes under the the name Riley Simmons. He thought it was rather creative. No? He doesn't wear the mask, either. There's no reason to, nobody would tell anyone that they were illegally street fighting to reveal his identity.
He's brutal in the ring. Of course there's no rules, so it's first down is out. Which means he has no problems breaking arms and legs and beating the snot outta his opponents. They call him "the splinter"... because that's what he does to your bones if you fight him. Kind of ironic, he thinks, to be named after something so unforgettable, and yet also something so sparsely seen as a ghost.
I imagine that one night when leave had been especially long, he gets pitted against a man with a red mask, and a spiked mohawk running down the length of his head and the tips dyed bright red.
Maybe he recognizes unmistakable blue eyes, maybe he doesn't, but either way there's a mutual agreement that what happens in the pit stays in the pit.
Nobody's ever lasted more than 120 seconds against The Splinter, but this guy, whoever he is, is going on 4 minutes now. And when the ringer for 7 minutes goes off, neither have gone down or tapped out.
They break apart, and exit the pit on opposite sides. They don't talk to eachother after, don't even look at the other. Both stay until the ring closes. And if anyone saw them leave together, well... what happens in the pit stays in the pit.
And when soap and ghost return to base, mysteriously together, when leave ends. One with fresh wraps over bruised knuckles, and one with a fresh hair cut, well... that's neither here nor there.

Prison Break AU further concept
@stuffireadandenjoy
Soap has been in there for about a year, and Ghost is new. They're both in the cell block reserved for the worst of the worst. Brutal murderers, rapists, just really fucked up people. Ghost wants out cause he knows the man that framed him, Roba, is probably out there hurting his family as they speak. Soap, being the evil genius he is, devises a plan to get them out, stop Roba, and clear Simon's name. I definitely see this ending as like Soap has to go back to prison and his sentence has even been increased because of all of it, but it was worth it. Simon fighting to keep Soap out of prison cause he owes him his life.
Potential fic title: "Break For Your Heart"
What's the reason Soap is in prison, you might ask?
I honestly don't fucking know but it's definitely a type of crime that he just drops in casual conversation that has everyone else looking at him like "You did that???" I'm thinking like arson but it was a like really horrible fire or for viciously beating a man to death. Like this is gonna be really indulgent in the idea of Soap being an actual criminally insane force of destruction but also still a silly goofy lil guy.
Soap: So, what brings you here? Ghost: I've been framed for kidnapping, torturing, and killing several people. The man that actually did it is probably terrorizing my family as we speak. Soap: That's fucked up. But neat! *Ghost stares in horror at Soap referring to his fucked up situation as 'neat'* Ghost: Wh-Why are you here? Soap: I beat a man so brutally he died choking on his own blood! :D
Or alternatively
Ghost: What's a nice guy like you have to do to end up here? Soap: Oh I set a man on fire :D Ghost: *stares* Ghost: That must've been messy Soap: Yeah, it was pretty gruesome. Ghost: So why do they call you Soap? Soap: Cause there was a guard abusing several of the inmates and I killed him by stuffing a bar of soap down his throat Ghost: Jesus fucking- what is wrong with you?? Soap: A lot :D
I don't know, this is definitely still in the works (clearly) but I just like the idea of normal, civilian dude Ghost and absolutely unhinged Soap.

So here's the idea. I'm not a communist. Ok. I do not want a military police force dictating anything ever. That is the reality of communism. You stole from shipping lanes and confiscated goods for yourselves. You only think of you this as an option because there is no intelligence in food documents provided by a supposed government. I am angry our government asks us to beg. Listen it's a great gesture. Nothing lasts. Nothing lasts forever because I love eating food like I bought it myself. Let me explain this, work does not pay for food. Work makes you hungry. Work does not make you happy. Food makes you happy. Is begging communism. Well you believe you have donated. Still, I don't believe you. See even if I pay you for food we are so angry. This payment is considered theft. See here we are again an illusion. You are imaginary food and left a wound in your stomach. That kills someone. See all cars, see all houses. Great, the food is also not available. I actually do not believe the government should even have public air time if they can't provide food for the illusion. You are providing food for an illusion or the illusion never stops. See the government should have no office. Can not afford food for poverty affirmation, growth. All statistics false. See I actually need your government to believe they can be a positive change. They need to be required to remove themselves. In regular business we need to cut costs when we can't afford to operate. This is a ghost. A vision. Evil. We keep misunderstanding no one can have babies to pay you. This is not a plan. You can not put your government on life support with babies and children. The working class is only what you mostly see with your eyes. See the middle class is a joke. You can't repair the id you can't have a work force. There is no force to supply government paycheck because the government supplies no food or privilege. Always in question always wrong always at fault. That is the middle id air. I actually don't understand why you think the government has a job. There is no way these people are alive with nothing and allow the government to pretend they're doing well. What you actually said was give me a government paycheck or give me death. What an insult. Your government does not help you be brave or free. Unless you understand very deeply you want to break your government even if it means breaking them like computer chips. His television is broken. When I sit down to listen to the government. I probably need a baseball bat. How does this resonate. I either hit you with a bat or manipulate you. See here's the issue. The government doesn't believe they can be manipulated or hit. For example crimes can not be committed at a police station. Crimes can not be committed for being a sexist racist pig. It is always to late. This is imagination. A girl can fight you with a robot. A girl fought all the zombies with her friends. This makes no sense. The government doesn't believe they feel negatively from openly being asked to please be dead. That would be good. You need to understand you do not handle people. No one gives you the right to handle people. If you believe you give people no choice but to be forced to be handled. Then this cannot be anti communism. You need to get those psychopathic creeps on your television off of our bodies. There isn't even food unless you also become dead. I said. Be dead share food. That makes no sense. I do not function. You see here is a computer. No phone. No required meetings forever. See you're insane. Required meetings forever. That's a slave. You still believe your government is a slave owner. The person that can not be reasonable is the one that already has this line of work. He is a complete loser. Look. All of his women are ugly fat and lazy. If you think otherwise you need to leave because you will die. There is no love no food no hot women. Always blind.

Chapter 2: The 7th District
While our unconscious boy Teito was falling through the air, he dreamt of the snow from his hometown. He also dreamt of someone telling him to kill his emotions and fight, his bullying, Mikage, him being adopted from Ayanami's custody, how he lost his memories and his father, then he wakes up in bed with some guy looking over him.
Tumblr media
He reacts accordingly:
Tumblr media
He makes a break for it and jumps out the window only for the guy to grab him, telling him they're on the fourth floor. A guy named Castor chastises the guy for "bullying" him (To be fair to the douche, he was literally just checking on him before getting kicked in the face) before introducing himself. The other guy's name is Frau and the short guy that just showed up is Labrador. Teito was carried to a church hospital by Frau and everyone around him are clergymen. They are in the Barsburg church in the Empire's 7th District. They ask him where he came from and, before Teito can answer, Frau guesses he's a solider from the Imperial Army. Teito angrily denies that, scratching Frau away before Castor reveals that he saw the mark on his back, meaning he's a slave. Frau picks him up, says he would buried him alive if he was a solider and drags him off to the baths.
The nuns are very excited to wash him (Is this the church of Castle Anthrax?) and a nun gives him a tour, even showing him the guardian of the church:
Tumblr media
According to a millennium old myth, the Shinigami Verloren committed a crime in the heavens and was forced to escape to the Earth. As a result, the hearts of the people on Earth were invaded by the evil Shinigami and they fell to despair. To solve this problem, the chief of the Heavens dispatched 7 lights from the heavenly world in order to punish Verloren. They were called the Seven Ghosts and they are said to have sealed Verloren on the Earth. In a bit of a demotion, rumor has it they still appear at night to take away naughty children. Can you tell this is a tourist town?
The figure above is called "The Statue Of Zehel" with the other six statues being elsewhere, protecting everyone. This church is important to everyone, being God's territory.
Oh and Frau? He's a bishop.
Tumblr media
So Teito is glad he escaped the Imperial Army but now what? His homeland was the overthrown kingdom of Raggs, his dad was killed by Ayanami...it's a lot to take in. He wishes Mikage were here...
Tumblr media
A woman runs in carrying a child, asking the clergymen (who are all bishops apparently) to have them break the Verloren's curse over her child. Apparently, before he was sealed, he released his demonic messengers. Even today, after 1000 years, these messengers will take a person's soul in exchange for "three wishes". When a person makes a contract with a messenger, a mark will appear on their chest. We don't learn more because the bishops succeed in lifting the curse from the child, the mother paying them for their services (which Teito is pretty sure is illegal...hell, Frau calls out Castor for accepting the money which Castor counters with the fact that they can feed starving people with it). The woman thanks the head bishop who says her own strength saved her child.
Anyway, the army is still looking for Teito, arriving at the spot he fell at. They figure out pretty quickly that he escaped to the church and they want to follow but one guy tells them they can't: the 7th district is God's Territory, which upholds the Laws of Sanctuary which means anyone who takes refugee in the church and asks for patronage gets granted protection, even if the person is a criminal. Neither the army nor the government can lay a finger on them publicly. One guy freaks out because he heard the Seven Ghosts are in that church and the other guys make fun of him. Anyway, Teito is off the hook for now...
In the Barsburg Church Central Library, Teito is trying to learn about stuff the school didn't teach him before some doll woman tries to help him and instead makes him fall, causing him to be caught by Frau. She's a creation controlled by Castor who gives him the book he was looking for, "The Empire's Military Record Of The Past 100 Years".
Tumblr media
Then Frau drags him out of the room, revealing that he hid his porn in that book.
Tumblr media
"If you want to hide a tree, put it in a forest." He defends. Wise words to live by.
Anyway, Teito wants to learn about the war that took place 10 years ago. Castor explains that about 1000 years ago, there existed two mighty countries in this world that held equal power. One was the Barsburg Empire, under the protection of God who is known as Eye of Raphael. The other was the Raggs Kingdom, under the protection of God who is known as Eye of Mikhail. In order to keep things cool, the two countries made a pact and it was upheld for a long time. However, 10 years ago, the Raggs Kingdom broke that pact by trying to obtain both eyes. That caused the Barsburg Empire to wreck their shit. That's what's in the books. But Teito and everyone gathered knows that version is bullshit or rather, that there is another side to the story that is missing. If you don't believe in history, just see the world with your own eyes (More Frau wisdom!).
Teito then goes out to the garden and sees a dude trimming bushes. He's given a rose before the dude walks off. The chapter ends with a bloodied Mikage walking over, expressing relief that Teito is okay. Teito reacts accordingly:

istg man every time you make another bates motel post i get dangerously closer to watching it 👀👀👀👀👀👀👀
*cackling in delight* my real reactions:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i've written like three novel-length responses to asks about this show recently lol, but i could easily write more. it's so weird and it probably shouldn't work. it's camp and melodrama, it's horror, it's romance! the main characters exist in a prestige psychological drama, and yet the entire hellmouth of a town around them is mired in some kind of nutty b-movie crime procedural much of the time. it is unmoored in time, because it's set in our modern age but filled with vintage touches in fashion, music (the music is so good!!!), and aesthetics. it is deeply, achingly about love as a force of destruction and calamity, all different forms of it, and also it's the only thing that matters, it kills us and it saves us. sometimes the house feels like it's a living entity and oppressively dragging people into its evil, its window eyes watching everything as it unfolds and consuming its inhabitants and visitors alike. you can never escape your fate, no matter how hard you fight, but that doesn't erase the courage of fighting altogether. you can and will withstand everything, and only the dearest person in the world can ever knock you down. it is incomprehensibly unhinged. it can be brutally realistic and yet it often uses dream imagery. it pays cinematic homage to hitchcock (more than just psycho) and also turns those conventions on their head. it needs a dozen different trigger warnings, but its study of the harm of abuse and the pervasive damage of misogyny and utter failings of systems meant to protect the vulnerable is necessary to tell it. it is so tragic it will dig a hole into your heart. i am convinced that taking it in this year mixed with the final season of bcs has altered my brain chemistry in some indefinable sense.
i probably can't say more about norma than what i said here, but...what a gift of a character. the performance vera gave is so tremendous and deranged and beautiful. it almost feels like she shouldn't exist, because storytelling doesn't often give that much breadth to women, where they're allowed to be messy and terrible and frantic and scarred and angry and controlling and prone to emotional outbursts, and also cunning and capable and brave and loving and warm. she is tremendous and she convinces everyone to adore her, including the viewer. you desperately wish she could be saved from every circumstance, even the ones she perpetuates herself, but she's doomed. she's the most vibrantly alive character, yet she's a ghost from her first line. i am so sad about her. she drives me insane and she makes me want to give her the biggest hug in the world. she should be allowed to commit any murder she wants. she should be given a home filled with light and laughter, but she gets a refrigerated basement in a broken display of reverence. i love her so much. women of all-time.

wait omg give us a rundown on all your AUs they all look incredibly intriguing
Omg hello 👀
I'll try to keep these synopses fairly brief since their's so many but I hope they're enough to peak your interest. Also under the cut so I don't bother anyone randomly scrolling:
→ Covenheads Shipkids AU : What it says on the tin. It follows the local boiling Isles equivalent of a beauty pageant kid who grew up and lost her fame - Satine Vernworth - and how she and her friends cause chaos around the castle.
→ Silver Rebel AU : Luz goes full robin hood mode and becomes a parallel/rival to the Golden Guard - complete with black cape, blue accents and silvery grey mask
→ One Gold Survivor AU : The Grimwalker before Hunter survived by pretending to be dead and sneaking out of the pit of failures. He's been hiding in the shadows for years, but is has no choice but to reveal himself when an injury forces him to ask for help, shenanigans ensue
→ Belos' Circus AU : Belos is a clown, literally and figuratively. That's it that's the au. (Not really but still)
→ [generic corruption au name here] AU : What it says on the tin, get ready for inky black sludge, zombie apocalypse tropes and soul-crushing angst
→ Grim Walking Ghosts AU : Hunter discovers that he's being haunted — by an army of ghosts who look exactly like him. Very inspired by BBC's Ghosrs if you've ever seen that
→ The Owl Planet AU : Sci-fi themed AU - Luz stumbles onto a space pod being controlled by a tiny mechanical owl after it stole her favourite novel about a girl who gets abducted by aliens, and the rest is history.
→ A Weeping Heart AU : Huntlow hanahaki AU bc I hate myself </3 based on the fact that weeping willow tree flowers are pretty. Also changed around some of the hanahaki lore bc the original is a bit ick imo
→ One Realm AU : Au inspired by The Incredibles lol, witches are supers and Belos is jealous little shit.
→ Detective Luz is on the case! AU : Based entirely on my love for detective novels and the mlp episode Rarity Investigates. Eda is being framed for crimes against the emperor, and while she's definitely commited a whole lot of other crimes, Luz is determined to prove that she's innocent from this particular one.
→ Obligatory Warrior Cats AU, Obligatory Wings of Fire AU, Hunger Games crack taken seriously AU : I'm just gonna group these three together because they're quite similar. Angst, violent, and cool lore stuff galore
→ Phillip's TimeLoop AU : In an attempt to get back home, Belos gets himself stuck living the same day over and over (the day Luz comes to the Isles) and the Collector is the only other person who's aware this is happening. Will having all the time in the world force Belos to become a better person, or will he double down on his evil ways in the mundanity and insanity?
→ Obligatory Avian AU : Witches have wings and that's about it. Inspired by that one Barbie movie with the fairies and suprisingly realistic depiction of disability until the end.
→ The Lost Grimwalker AU : Hunter ends up the human realm sometime before the series starts and is unable to get back home. He is raised as Luz' brother and wants nothing more than to return to Belos in the Demon Realm, but when he finally returns he sees things from a wild witches perspective and is hunted down by the new Golden Guard who sounds and acts an awful lot like him...
→ Castle Cats AU : Castle Cats is this video game about an army of rebel cats trying to fight away the Evil Pugomancer and their army of dogs. This is just a toh version of that lol. Belos is a dog but devices everyone into thinking he's just a weird looking cat
→ Dos Belos AU : Caleb survives and becomes the 2nd emperor of the boiling Isles, the two brothers playing the same persona and giving the residents of the isles the impression that their leader is a shapeshifting, omniscient teleporter who's scary af.
→ Castle Buddies AU : Hunter and The Collector are friends. That's it that's the au (not really but I'm still working things out)
→ Let's play the Luz and King Game AU : My take on what would've happened if Collector Luz became a thing, King suggests that they play a game he had played with Luz and the Collector takes it a bit more literally then expected.
And that's all of them! I hope that's interesting! :D
Number of AUs focusing on Hunter and/or other golden guards - 6. I think I have a problem... or a blorbo?
