rain rain rain rain how do you draw iterators and slugcats btw like all your gyus are so shaped its so fun to look at theyre just little guys...

i'm gonna start with slugcats! my old guide from 2023 is here.

Note: "slugcat" refers to multiple species (slugcats are in a species complex). It can be hard to differentiate slugcat species, since some are very similar and hybridization between them is common where their ranges overlap. The species that Monk and Survivor are members of is called the "common slugcat."

Slugcats are weird sorta-feline creatures that walk bipedally and have little hands. Their average height is 3'3" or about 1 meter tall.

Their basic body shape is a round head on top of a trapezoidal body. Their legs are digitigrade, they have human-like arms (that are often skinny lol), and their tails are thick and tapering. Slugcats also have retractable arms ig??? I have no idea how that would work

In terms of head shape, it's similar to a cat's, but with a somewhat taller forehead (bigger brain! more room for being Smart!). Slugcats usually have short muzzles, big eyes, and long ears.

Note: slugcat arms usually rest in front of the body (think meerkats) rather than to the sides like a human.

Uhhh I like giving slugcats dewlaps (rabbit dewlaps are a good reference)!

And for fat slugcats, fat is usually stored in the tail (and dewlap) first. So naturally my gourmand has a big tail and a big dewlap :]

And!! I like to think that some slugcats have fur, and some don't. Hairless slugcats are slimy; furred slugcats have oily, waterproof coats. Some shorthaired slugcats have smooth fur like otters and seals do.

TEEFS!!! Except technically, slugcats don't have teeth. Rather, they have sharp, jagged beaks (think cephalopods). Their beaks continually grow and they are self-sharpening. Because their beaks are really sharp, slugcat bites are always serious injuries.

The length of their "fangs" varies by species. Some carnivorous species have long fangs, for example.

And! They have bristly tongues like cats (and kinda like the radula of a gastropod).

For their paws, slugcats have 3-fingered hands and feet. Their claws vary; some individuals have blunt claws, some have sharp claws, others have retractable claws, etc.

The inner toe of a slugcat's foot is opposable, making it easy for them to grab onto poles with their feet. (Compare to scavengers, who mostly use their arms to climb.)

SLUPPIES!!!!!! (don't worry about the fluffy one, they're just eepy)

Slugpups have different proportions than adults! Including having a bigger head, chubbier body, etc. Fluffy slugpups can also be a bit scraggly like longhaired kittens are.

My slugcats are basically egg-laying marsupials. They lay eggs, store them in their pouch, and then the eggs hatch into itty bitty babies. The babies stay in the pouch, feeding on milk until they're big enough to venture outside.

When pups are too big for the pouch, they ride on their parent's head or back. They also begin the process of weaning around this time, since by then they've started growing a sharp beak (i guess before that, their beak is dull and too small to self-sharpen?).

Note: some slugcat species are unisex and others are trioecious (having male, female, and hermaphrodite individuals).

For expressions, ears are important!!

Neutral: ears relaxed. The relaxed position varies by individual; some slugcats have their ears rest slightly tilted back, for example.

Alert/interested: ears perked up.

Angry: ears pinned back. Very angry slugcats have their ears positioned so they're almost in line with the top of the head.

Afraid: ears pinned down (sometimes slightly to the sides, too).

Sad: ears droop to the sides.

Slugcats mostly use their tails for balance, but they're used for some emotes too.

Upwards-curled tail is an excited or enthusiastic hello! Kinda like how some cats raise their tail when they see their human.

When upset, annoyed, or grumpy, slugcats may thump their tail against the ground (kinda like how rabbits stomp).

Some slugcats wag their tails when playing or excited. This isn't a universal thing, though.

Slugcats with fur may puff up their tail when startled or scared. They may also puff their tail when excited or playing, too.

Hi sorry I died for a while but I've been waiting for my computer to be fixed so I can draw pretty stuff again (yes it's taken like 6 months). Now please consider my thoughts on what animals different danganronpa characters would be

I tried to make sure there weren't any duplicates unless the characters are related and some of these I've put more thought into lol

Yasuhiro is a goat but like the fainting ones because it sounds funny and I can see him freezing up and falling over.

Junko and ikusaba are both chihuahuas because they're super cute but stereotypically people say they're little demons and that fits junko, she seems innocent but is just a big meanie. And I see ikusaba as being like a buff chihuahua who's all awkward but could eat you alive.

Makoto and Komaru are ferrets, ferrets need other ferrets for inrichment and that's basically makoto he wants friends to be happy. Also I think ferrets are very silly, I have 4 named noodle, little man, chonk, and rebel (like Starbuck).

Kyoko is a cat, I felt like a cat could match many different characters but I believe that she fits a cat the most. Cats are cute but pretty solitary also I think it matches with the fact she isn't very scary compared to some characters (ik she's like mysterious type scary and stone cold but I think she's a cutie).

Fukawa is a skunk bc she's stinky.

Byakuya is a cheetah and I thought about this quite a bit, I had a few different ideas on what to pick but honestly I think since he's blonde he's obviously a cheetah!! Duh!!

Asahina is an otter bc swimming and cute.

Sakura... I had so much trouble deciding this one ommmgg 😭 I was thinking about bigger animals and like martial arts and I was thinking about a gorilla and how they like punch their chests. It's the best I could come up with.

Leon is a weasel because I could see a weasel trying baseball and not liking it very much.

Sayaka is a panda because people love pandas and I could see a panda singing pop music.

Chihiro is a bunny because cute and small, also he's like Judy hops cuz he and her wanna prove they're stronge or smth 💪🏻

Mondo is an alligator bc grrrr scary 🐊

Hijumi is a walrus bc his lips kinda look like a walrus and he's chunky like a walrus, I thought of a hamster too but I thought it fit another character better.

Ishimaru I can see being a Labrador dog bc he's a silly little guy. He'd be the dog that barks at flys.

Celeste is a fruit bat bc vampire bat is what she wishes she was so she tries to be scary and goth but she's just a cute fuzz baby.

Nagito is a wolf bc he's literally wolf in sheep's clothing but he's also kinda cute.

Hajime is a panther who doesn't know how to be a panther, he tries to be a house cat.

Teruteru is a mouse bc ratatouille but I wanted him to be a mouse bc they're smaller and I think someone else fits the rat better.

Twogami I was thinking maybe a pig who wears cheetah fur or smth, like he wears the animal skin of what he's imitating.

Pekoyama is a gazelle bc they're coooool.

Mahiru is a red panda cuz they're small and cute and red like her hair

Soda is a rat bc I can imagine him being a sewer rat who smells bad in his silly little jumper.

Sonia is a swan bc they're elegant and pretty like a princess.

Fuyuhiko is a honey badger bc they're not very big but they give 0 fucks abt anything.

Tanaka is a Vulture and everyone's like 'whaaat a vulture taking care of hamsters???? Craaazy he'll eat them' but really he loves his little guys and would never.

Nekomaru is a lion bc team work and big.

Akane is a jaguar bc big and grrrr.

Chiaki is a sugar glider bc tiny and cute.

Saionji is the basilisk bc I can see her Jesus running on water.

Ibuki is a parrot bc caawww and repeating people and singing bird.

Mikan is a possum bc they faint when scared and that's funny haha but also I think they're cute.

Kamukura is a panther but he knows how to be a panther and doesn't wanna be a house cat like Hajime.

Shuichi is a coyote bc he ain't a big wolf but he isn't a tiny dog, he's like in the middle and he's adaptable I'd say.

Kaede is a spider monkey cuz they're like very social but can be aggressive and I think kaede is a more bold but friendly character (ignoring pregame)

Amami is idk!!! I thought about it alot and I stuck with a tortus or a super chill deer.

Maki is like a black mamba cuz they're fast and when I think of an assassin I think of snakes. Also I believe black mambas aren't super aggressive unless bothered and I think this applies to Maki. She isn't aggressive really for no reason she might be sassy sometimes but she isn't gonna throttle you for no reason at all.

Himiko is a dove bc magician.

Kiibo is a chicken bc it made me think of the robot chicken TV channel thing.

Tsumugi is a fox bc cute and pretty but sneaky and will probably give you rabies.

Kirumi is an owl because she seems wise and owls are usually depicted as wise in media.

Ryouma is a poison dart frog bc tiny but will kill you with his tennis balls.

Korekiyo is a giraffe bc tall and lanky.

Tenko is a mongoose and honestly idk why I couldn't think of anything else except maybe that lizard that's like only girls and reproduces asexually so they're all female lizards.

Angie is an African wolf dog bc they work really well when hunting and it would be her little cult of dogs.

Kaito is a border collie bc they're really smart but cute and people always assume they're dumb but they're very smart and everyone says Kaito is dumb but honestly he's gotta be smart to be an astronaut.

Kokichi is a racoon bc he's a trash panda who would also give you rabies.

Miu is a pelican bc she has a big mouth and doesn't shut upppppp!!

Gonta Is an eleghant bc usually elephants are pretty chill and they're suuuuper cute and big.

In regards to Miraculous Gaang animals:

-Sokka: I was thinking just Captain Beetle, especially since it sounds vaguely close to Captain Boomerang, which is an appropriate title for Sokka but also not because it's also the name of a DC villain who killed Tim Drake's dad (and it doesn't have ladybug theming). I definitely think use Captain though, because I am now attached to Sokka having Cap as a nickname.

-Katara: So there are actually several species of big cats that like and excel in the water. One of them is the jaguar, and black jaguars do exist. Jaguars also have lots of night and water symbolism associated with them. I'm not the best with names, but I think Midnight Jaguar, Black Jaguar, Painted Jaguar, or maybe Inky Jaguar could all work for her. (Also, look up fishing cats. They're useless for this au because they don't come in black, but they're a cross between otters and bobcats and they're insane).

-Suki: ML got it right here actually because very many species of vipers are blue or teal, so I'd stick with that. For some reason my brain is getting stuck on Viperious (instead of imperious), but some other half baked options could he Velvet Viper, Silk Viper, or Vypertime (instead of hypertime),

-Zuko: Seriyu is the blue dragon spirit of Japan that represents the east and springtime. Spring represents new beginnings which is fitting for Zuko, and could provide a fun connection/contrast with Iroh's whole Dragon of the West thing. Otherwise I got nothing.

-Toph: I like the Blind Tiger too much to come up with anything else, lol. My brain said "yup that's perfect the naming machine is now off for her." Sorry if you were hoping for more options.

-Azula: I think her blue flames are significant, so I think basing her off an arctic fox, a silver fox, a blue morph fox, or maybe even a cross fox. Actually, yeah screw it, cross fox Azula. Duality, being split between red and dark gray/blue coloring as she's conflicted with her loyalty to Ozai/the fire nation and her own unique individual wants and needs. Being part blue connects her to Blue Dragon!Zuko too. I'm thinking that her costume is similar to the one in the show but if it was more flowy and elegant and less armory and intimidating. So like, the layered panels thing she has going on can stay, but more thick cloth traveling layers and less rigid armor. Instead of the big leather flaps she has like a poncho or a shawl. She's already got the cross fox coloring motif of big black middle panel and red side panels, and we obviously have to add her skirt tunic being pulled back into a coat tail. Keep the loose pants and the pointed boots for the theatre vibes. I'm thinking her mask is sort of like a masquerade/theatrical fox mask that covers the whole top half of her face and has fox ears but leaves the bottom open. Names. . .uh? Yeah I'm bad with these. Vixen?

-Yue: Also nothing, so sorry.

-Jin: Homegirl appears in one episode, we can go hog wild with her (pun intended) and do whatever we want. I'm thinking basing her off a wild boar and not a farm pig. I want her whole "chipper jubilant" hero thing to be more "Feral joy that one gets from running through an open windy feild at night and screaming at the top of their lungs." I like the idea of keeping her spiky, messy, wild hair in her costume. Like, let that go nuts. Pigella also has ballet inspo, so I think Jin should get, like, festival revelry dancing inspired costume and makeup, but also in more muted earthy tones. Names. . .maybe Babirusa? Type of Indonesian wild boar. My only other ideas are just straight up using Wild Hog or Hogwild.

-Ty Lee: I like the idea of her costume being very circus themed. Like, she looks like a trapeze artist. Lots of glitter and "look at me" kind of details on her costume. Tight, but with just enough loose flowing bits to look cool when it moves around. You could even keep the crown thing because my girl is a queen after all. I think we name her something like Sticky Sweet, Sweet Stinger, or Honey Stinger. Something that emphasizes the "looks like a cinnamon roll, could kill you" thing she has.

-Mai: Hear me out---rat instead of mouse. Mai is always down to pick a fight and is a lot meaner than your average mouse, and this way, her costume could have, like bandit/thug inspiration and she could just look so menacing. The only names that come to mind are Rat-Attack-Tat, which doesn't exactly roll of the tongue or Swarm, which brings more bug than rat.

Also. Eagle!Jet because Freedom Fighters and also Jet with guns sounds like a dangerous and amazing combination. That's it.

Anyway, I gotta go find everything on the Avatar!Ty Lee AU now because I didn't know you had that and HELL YEAH!

I love the Captain name for Sokka. Also I am double laughing at the Captain Boomerang reference because I have heard him called 'discount Sokka' once before. May have to hammer out the exact ladybug reference with it. A previous ask mentioned Harmonia and Harlequin.

Jaguar is perfect for Katara. I think I gotta go with Painted Jaguar because gotta love the reference.

Something viper themed is good, but I'm not sure exactly what. Vipertime makes me laugh but idk if it fits.

Okay so Azula! So like. Technically this is a no Bending au. Or else there'd be too much going on to have both atla's plots and the au's. So there's no reason to have a fire theme. BUT. I can't resist bringing back the wordplay that is Vulpyro.

Forgot to add to the last ask- the otter comic says Kraw is a chimera, is that a natural species or are chimeras created somehow? Because otter grandpa said they're sterile and that happens to some non-natural animal combos irl. Also is his brother a chimera as well?

After just finding out about mayv and the way she looks, it made me think that chimeras are made by witches and not a natural species so I'm super curious now because why did somebody do that to those 2 kids if that's the case :(

In Hallowed Carrion chimera/Chimereals happen between two ‘primordial’ species that couldn’t normally mate, but it involves a ‘false uterus’ created by consuming the celestial body’s flesh. With Kraw it was his sea drake mother and Fury father. (They’re considered to be ‘primordial’ simply because they’ve been around for quite some time, live longer and are usually giants. Most modern day islanders don’t believe/know their kind exists, kind of like how we are with modern conspiracies of the ‘megalodon still existing in the marianna trench’).

It is a trait among chimereals that they are sterile. They’re also known by their abnormal growth hormones which causes them to keep growing/evolving for who knows how long. There’s actually a lot of prejudice held against them and they don’t often live in regular society like Kraw does, they’re usually considered dangerous and they’re often loners.

Most of this is only known because of Sylvaine learning about Serkan who is also a chimereal, albeit much older than Kraw. She’s actively studying chimereals through Kraw now. (He was actually very upset to learn he was sterile :(

And I’ve wanted to show more about Titus! It’s hard to balance my attention to everything lol.

Titus is also a chimereal. He was born on a specialized mill where they attempted to breed marine chimereals like him for hunting purposes. Most chimereals that come out of the mills end up dead, malformed or ‘defective’, so he was ‘lucky’. He also would have had the ability to breathe fire, but his flint glands were removed, like declawing a cat. He was kind of mean and he certainly had it harder than Kraw with Mayv. She didn’t even know he could speak when she first got him because his throat was fucked after they cut his flint glands out. He was about 7 when she got him and he was already known to be unruly/uncontrollable in the mill. They would have put him down if Mayv hadn’t come along. She took care of him though despite keeping a firm hand and eventually he came to see her as a surrogate mother.

He definitely got a jealous streak when she brought Kraw home. Mayv would often be fawning over how Kraw “came from the sea, so he would make such a great hunter and how beautiful his colors were and-“ blah blah blaaah. Titus hadn’t even seen the sea until Mayv rescued him, and he thought Kraw was just a little ‘flat-faced softie’. He would often goad him into fights. There’s a lot more to it, but eventually he and Kraw came to find their similarities, mostly through comforting each other through night terrors and exploring the swamps together.

Although Mayv also saw them like her own sons, she often towed the line between training them like animals and treating them like regular children. She was of course still very loving but it was often muddled by her militant expectations of them out on the ocean. Titus and Kraw worked for Mayv as ‘mer-hounds’, which are marine creatures that are trained to effectively hunt and catch mermaids or other large oceanic game, sort of like how some fishermen would use ducks. That was what the mills were breeding marine creatures for.

As of present day, a lot had gone down between Kraw and his brother, and a lot happened where Kraw had to leave the Shades as well. Kraw doesn’t know what’s become of his brother and whether or not Mayv is even alive. I do plan to get into that.

I can show you a sort of wip I have of him, but he might get a bit of a cleanup? Just because this is older art. I had planned to make growth charts for he and Kraw for a while now. Awkward teenage years and such.

Thanks so so much from @verba-writing for the tag! I had such a fun time reading your answers too and I'm very excited for paranormal romance 😍

I feel like I wanna flag that a lot of my answers are very anime/gaming-sphere oriented and I hope I'm not totally alienating my mutuals by revealing just HOW MUCH I'm not a book person lololol But this is with what we're working:

The Questions are:

1. What was the first part of your wip that you created?

The very first thing I made was the high premise: It was synthesized from the Overly Sarcastic Productions question "What if all the Kings Under the Mountain came back...?" and then I added the context "...in a Nuclear Crisis to discuss piece?" And in my head, it was this HBO-style modern fantasy Game of Thrones meets West Wing type deal. But then... I didn't want to write the modern piece. (The modern piece should be written by people in countries from all over Europe about what it means to be a hero in various cultures.)

So I set it in 1800s fantasy world instead!

2. If your story was a TV show, what would the theme song/intro be?

The first arc would be Dance in the Game by Zaq

The second arc would be Lacrimosa by Kalafina

The Gods' Arc would be Paper Boquet by Mili

3. Who are your favourite characters you've made? Why?

Is it to cliché to be like "my current self-insert protagonist is my favorite character I've ever made"? Her and my antagonist are just THE BEST and I love them.

4. What other pieces of media do you think would share a fan base for your story?

Mmm, I think Untitled Yssaia Game's story would appeal to queer Game of Thrones fans who could FEEL the straightness in GoT, especially if they also like anime. I would hope I could get general anime fans as well as Arcane and Genshin Impact fans, but I feel like those are too mainstream and Yssaia is not. Realistically, I think I'm gonna get the Wadanohara people and the Ib people and, if I get really lucky, the To the Moon people.

5. What has been your biggest struggle with your wip?

Marketing lol -- explaining what it is to people in a way that they realize they want it.

6. Are there any animals in your story? Talk about them!

Fuafua 🥺🥺🥺

Look at her! She is a six-legged, six-eyed slug cat called a Maret. Marets fill the same role as ocelots in Yssaia, except they're more semi-aquatic like otters and their skin has a stressball-like texture.

7. How do your characters get around? (ex: trains, horses, cars, dragons, etc.)

They walk or ride Rumateurs (which are alpaca-like beings with ossicones) or take ships or airships or trains. I don't like writing about travel that much though so it is a background element.

8. What part of your wip are you working on rn?

I am pre-editing the first arc for my alpha readers and the third arc has another 50k to 100k words to draft. We're at like 250k words total right now and it is so unwieldy 😭😭😭

9. What aspects (tropes, maybe?) of your wip do you think will draw people in?

Oh, I have a convenient graphic for this. Hang on...

10. What are your hopes for your wip?

I was just diatribing about this earlier but the DREAM is to turn it into an RPGmaker adventure game and have it go viral and make a million bucks off it. I'd love to be the next Undertale but it'll never happen because I am not positioned to be the next Undertale, you know?

i have some quick facts about all 3 so far! i'll post that novel below ^^

a few notes -

I am TOTALLY up for criticism on this project. It's my first serious spec bio thingy and I am still very green to the subject lol

The planet they inhabit is called Ieyora (eye-yore-uh) IV. It's the fourth planet from the sun in its solar system, and the flora is autumn-coloured all year around, which is why the animals have yellow, orange, and red camouflage.

Ieyora IV has quite a bit of volcanic activity. Animals living in arctic environments sometimes use heat vents formed in mountain ranges to keep their eggs warm during nesting seasons.

I call the extra limbs palps, like on a spider. Some are fully functional like on the Soffbeast, and some are mostly vestigial or nearly undetectable like on the Ieyotitan and Ieyorapteryx. No Ieyoran animal has more than 6 limbs.

All three species I've worked the most on are all related by a common ancestor, they're like cousins.

The planet doesn't have a resident dominant species, such as humans on Earth.

Species Quick Facts

Ieyorapteryx

- Semi aquatic (akin to an otter)

- Especially strong lower body

- Peculiar beak-like mouth (similar to a pufferfish)

- Palps no longer visible

- Strong climbers

- Forelimbs similar to those of a raccoon or rodent

- Webbed toes, except for "thumb"

- Reproductive and maturation system similar to that of a frog, needs water in order to lay eggs and has a fully aquatic first few weeks of life

- Adults as large as a whitetail deer

- Patterning appears to vary due to location of the ecosystem they inhabit (camouflage)

- Highly social, docile creatures

- Waterproof feathers, similar method to that of a duck

- Builds nests out of its own fur and plant matter, using sticky saliva to ensure structural integrity

- Lives in same sex pairs, only mixing if closely related or during mating season

- Short yet thick feathering

- Beak similar to Ieyorapteryx

- Technically omnivorous in their youth, sometimes digging for roots

- Fairly territorial

- Bonded pairs show high amounts of physical affection for one another, grooming and playful behaviour is often observed

- Males show perceived homosexual behaviour to ensure loyalty to each other and often act as wingmen

- Pursuit predators

- Females tend to be more aggressive

- Produces squeaking, mewing, and a low rumbling sound in their throat, referred to as "trilling", sometimes strong enough to shake the ground

- Observed quietly purring to themselves

- Makes an ear-shattering hissing/shrieking noise when threatened

- Scrapes the ground with scent glands on their palps to mark their territory

- Also have scent glands under their chin

- Extremely hygienic animals

- Split tongue to aid in tracking

Soffbeast (Sophbeast)

"Soffbeast" is an affectionate name for these creatures, being a play on softbeast. The "t" is dropped because their fur is so soft, the letter makes too harsh of a sound to describe it. The first part of their original common name, Sophbeast, was the surname of the scientist who first studied them.

- Second largest Ieyoran carnivore

- Lives in arctic and tundra regions

- Produces low throat vibration noises and growls

- Horrifyingly loud shriek

So, because I just spent six hours on a tiny bus seat looking out the window, listening to music and imagining myself in an indie music video, it got me rather inspired to write... smut lol

I'm actually NOT at that part yet, but it's promising. I've had this idea for quite a while, plus a few phrases jotted down, and now I've finally started writing it properly. It's a fun Watford era post-truce fic with lots of sex, which should work as a palate cleanser to my main wip.

A couple snippets:

Doctor Wellbelove has just pulled an inflatable dick out of his bag, and I already know this will be the worst day of my life.

And another:

Then, he opens his bag and pulls out a packet of condoms.  "Now, do we have any volunteers?"  "You should go, Snow," Baz whispers, leaning over his desk and towards me. I refuse to turn to him, but I just know the look of malicious smugness that's plastered to his face. “Since you've got experience. Show us how it's done."  I roll my eyes. Months ago, there'd be smoke wafting off me and I'd be white-knuckling the desk by now. Now, though, I know he's just trying to get a rise out of me. It's been mostly half-hearted insults and childish probing lately, so I just try to ignore him.  Sometimes, it even feels good, to have Baz pushing at my buttons. Miles better than when he used to tear me down or try to kill me. (Though he still denies that.) It's as if, ever since we made a truce last year, we're almost friends.

Just because I'm bored with my days (and because I like your AU) I was wondering what animals you would assign to the Links so I can draw them as such :) that's absolutely not because I can't draw humans

Ouaaaa that's so sweet! (Also I totally get ya I can't draw animals at all so I'm the oppsoite🤣) also, sorry this took me so long. I sat there and put waaaaay too much thought into this.

First of all, the obvious one is Pinkie as a pink bunny rabbit! He's a sweet little guy who's happy to do a little mischief but scampers off at the first sign of conflict. Also, y'know, it's Link's dark world form in A Link to the Past.

Second, Leaf is a wolf (because of the heros shade form in Twilight princess). But like he's not very big yet so he's basically a happy little puppy. The type of dog who's so eager to help you that they just end up getting under your feet and tripping you by accident 🤣

The rest are harder cuz I have to come up with them myself lol. Let's see, Ocean I would probably say lobster, cuz that's what's on his shirt but also personality wise he fits! Lobsters are generally resourceful in finding food and making what they have work. Also, lobsters are usually overshadowed by more well known sea predators like sharks, but with their hard outer shells and powerful claws, they're pretty good at defending themselves and driving away predators. Something about how Ganondorf doesn't see Link as much of a threat but he manages to overcome with fewer resources despite it all. As an alternate animal, I also think that sea otters fit him well because they're so so expressive, but also curious and intelligent social animals.

I would say Wood is a deer because they are constantly on the look out for danger, survive in sometimes harsh conditions, and are generally pretty quiet. Deer are also some of the least trusting animals out there so there's that too lol. When playing the first Zelda game, a big strategy is to try and sneak around enemies when possible to minimize damage taken. But make no mistake, like a deer, when put into a corner Wood won't hesitate to attack! The only thing that doesn't really fit is that deera tend to function in group units, and Wood is very solitary (at least as of the first Zelda game)

Finally, Rock. I wanna say mouse to reference the minish, but I don't know that the personalities fit. He can be a bit too standoffish and aggressive to fit with a mouse. Actually, I might say he's a cat (which is funny cuz they attack you in minish cap lol). Cats have a pretty wide range of personalities, but I'd say Rock would be the type to bear claws first until he starts to warm up to the area. He can be very sweet and happy to help take care of younger, smaller animals in the right situation, but he can also start to feel cornered and get more aggressive.

As a bonus, Aryll is of course a seagull bc of Wind Waker, but also because she's talkative, pretty fearless, and perseveres through pretty tough times.

You're welcome to assign different animals if you have any that you think would fit better, but yeah there's my picks! If you're still interested in drawing them, I hope you have fun!

howdy! using this ask as my chance to say sorry for not answering messages recently we had a family medical emergency shortly after thanksgiving. i'd make my own post but my beautiful tumblr app post button isn't working again LOL

ANYWAY, they'll be restocked in the new year! they're on their way to us but our fulfillment crew already have 3500+ orders across all the shops they fulfill. so they likely wouldn't arrive before the new year anyway! so we'll be bringing them to Anthro New England in January and then having an update after!

All I want this year is…

a) Anything featuring raccoon shifter Stiles! fic, ficlet, art, edit, whatever it is, I'd love to see it!

b) Art, edit, podfic, or some other type of transformative work based on any of my fanfics (ThePurebloodPrat on ao3)

c) Some sort of Gentleman/Phantom Thief AU! (as in, Sly Cooper, Lupin, Tuxedo Mask, Kaito Kidd, etc.) I'd love a fic but I feel like this could be a really cool gifset also, so I'm really open! My favorite characters are Stiles, Derek, Jackson, Lydia, the Sheriff, Peter, Scott, and Erica, so I feel like there are lots of really cool ways this could be done.

d) Historical/Medieval Fantasy art! Edits or gifsets or moodboards are also welcome, i just like pretty pictures and crown symbolism.

e) Any kind of shifter!Stiles creation, but especially unusual creatures! I love foxes and wolves but I'd love to see more weird stuff, like cats and crows and otters and opossums. And, of course, Raccoons, but that got its own special request line because i am a sucker for those mischievous little thumb-having beasts.

f) An edit or graphic Phone Background. Single characters (Jackson, Stiles, or Derek) or Ships (Stackson, Sterek) or just general Teen Wolfness are all appreciated that is sized to be a phone background. I've been looking for a new lockscreen because it feels too vain to always use my own art LOL (i'm also hunting for a phone case in the same vein, but I'm not really putting in a specific request for that. I'd love rec links though!)

g) Lastly, I rly enjoy Cover Art specifically for fics (like with the text and everything) both having and Making and I would love to collab with other Gifters if they're interested in fic/cover art combo! I'd love to receive cover art or exchange cover art or make cover art for the fic you're making for someone else. (: Hope that's okay to add!

Neuvillette is still ??? with human stuff so I imagine relationship things are a bit...not the easiest thing for him to grasp. I feel like he can observe it better but when it comes to himself he's at a bit of a loss for this kinda stuff. So Lyney would have to give him the pointers on stuff. I do imagine him sort of playing around but nothing ever drastic?? Idk I can imagine Lyney saying something like 'giving good morning kisses is a thing couples do' and like...haha more smooches!!

I also once had the thought of Lyney flirting with Neuvillette and at some point hydro dragon man is just like 'pardon but are you trying to court me?' and it just flusters Lyney slfjdsk

Neuvillette always!! makes time for his shows!! At least his grand ones (cuz he probably does little ones on the street every now and then). Mans always got the front row seats and is always sparkly eyed! I figure its a moment of relaxation for him where he can kinda forget about his duties and get lost in the magic tricks Lyney does.

I imagine at some point the Melusines take notice of Lyney + his fam because of the time he spends with Neuvillette. They're probably curious about the relationship but I figure they'd be on good terms?? Lyney isn't malicious and now I think of Freminet and Melusines being friends....big fam.

I also feel like the relationship might have to be kept hidden at first?? Neuvillette with his position is something else and might look like he's favoring the magician...Just close friends/family know at first but eventually the secret is out! It's probably mixed acceptance and causes problems (rip Lyney's background doesn't help) but after all the trouble they are accepted.

Maybe vague spoilers (or not) but also me being a dragon lover uhhh hehe Neuvillette with a dragon form...or just half dragon form. I figure that Neuvillette does try to keep it a secret for a while but honestly? He can't for long. Lyney is smart and can pick up on the smallest things (like where is ur vision my dude?? you silly water otter looking man??)

Neuvillette gotta spill that tea to him eventually. He'd either admit it with Lyney pulling up some evidence. Lyney might come off as too...forward?? But he just wants to know what's up with him!!
