agree with you about how people talk about courtney love. I personally cant stand her or hole but it's insane how some people will say like "I fucking hate that cunt Courtney i hate that bitch" etc etc and then will turn around and make catboy irony edits of morrissey. they're both reprehensible racists and im not saying people should go easier on courtney or that they should only talk about morrissey with the utmost seriousness 24/7 or something but like. people should at least ATTEMPT to be consistent with how they talk about Problematic women vs Problematic men. when siouxsie sioux discourse was en vogue, the same people who would make these very angry callout posts about her wearing a not c armband in 1977 with the specific intent of offending people and calling Robert Smith fat would My Scrimbly The Onglydoople 😍 post about Keith Moon who beat his wife and tried to kidnap her when she left him, Matthew Broderick'd someone, AND dressed up as a knot sea with his friend and went through Jewish neighborhoods as a "joke". And again it's not that i think people should act like One specific way abt all "problematic" people or that i think people who vocally dislike courtney love siouxsie sioux etc are automatically misogynists but it's very frustrating seeing some people give famous white men a pass/post abt them with affection while ALSO interpreting every single thing a woman does as uncharitably as possible and then acting like YOURE a bad person for liking her art and nothing else about her. Lakskflgl thank you Sara!!! Tbh I just have a lot of stress surrounding conflict as a whole so I’m not a big fan of posting like. callouts or whatnot. But i know a lot of writers are uncomfortable and unhappy with the state of recognition culture (weird title but it gets the point across) so I don’t feel as stressed posting abt it 🤷‍♀️
