I started a new Starfield character and figured I would either go the assorted ship companion route or maybe romance Sarah or Sam, and then the very moment I met Andreja again I was like yeah no, she's my person. It's gonna happen again.

Now the gossip columnist are having a field day hounding Superman, Lex, justice league members and even Lois. Speculations are flying as to whether this is a secret love affair? Have all of Lex’s schemes really been a desperate bid for attention and the villain plots are all Superman will respond to? Kon is 16 has all the fighting been the result of a messy divorce? This is the high profile relationship scandal that legendary careers are made on! No gossip writer in their right mind is going to pass it up.

Superman is wanting the days that it was just Lois chasing him for an interview. But he can use making sure new kid is ok as an excuse to quickly retreat. Lex is hating every second of this. He is not sure if being in jail would be better.

Batman and Green Arrow are the only league members showing Superman any sort of sympathy. But that is because they have had to deal with these gossip hounds in their civilian IDs enough to know some of the writers by name. They get it. Everyone else though is having fun making it worse.

Funniest thing I've seen recently, and not funny in a ha-ha way, more funny in a "the endless entropic void gnawing at my will to live" way, was somebody asking around for alternatives to Neil Gaiman, in the light of Neil Gaiman's ongoing fall from grace. As though what we're currently sitting through isn't the collapse of the carefully curated "Good Guy Neil" image that caused people to parade Gaiman as the same kind of preferred progressive alternative to, say, Rowling. As though we won't be in the same goddamn situation in a few years or months, with some number of the new progressive sci-fi/fantasy darlings- not all of them, to be clear, but at least some of them- when their impeccably-curated marketing implodes in on itself and they're revealed to be the same kind of sex pest or abuser. Can you not see the wheel to which you are strapped. The game of human pinball you are condemning yourself to with this mindset. Maybe you do see, and you're just resigned to taking it one soul-crushing disappointment at a time, one "I never would have guessed" after another. I mean I think we all need to get resigned to that one way or another, sun's gonna go out before it stops happening
