Anyway s5 is going to be a wild shitshow. The Suffer bros want Steve and Nancy back together for some powerfully hetero reason that makes no sense for either of their character development, and part of me actually thinks Eduardo isn't lying for confidentiality reasons about not coming back. idk. I could be wrong. I mean, the whole "welcome to the club, right" exchange about Argyle last season was perfect and they can do so much with him, but I seriously wouldn't put it past the show runners to write him out in favor of other storylines they want to focus on, especially since it's the last season, depending on their budget and how many episodes they got.

Finally, I really don't have any hope for any satisfying conclusion involving Eddie's story, and I'll leave it at that. I'll just stay cozy here in the fandom!

An excerpt from a fic I’m writing:

“DON’T-”

The Red Hood turned toward her so fast, he hissed as he felt a sharp pain in his side. Oh right. He’d been shot. Twice.

“Touch that.” Jazz finished quietly. She strode over to his bedside and sat down, revealing a first aid bag. She waited until he nodded his consent to check his bandages and started to change them.

Shit that hurt. Her touch was light but a bullet wound was still a bullet wound. In an attempt to keep his mind off of what she was doing, he asked about the object.

“What is it?” She looked up. He nodded his head toward the… whatever it was. He could have sworn it had a faint green glow around it now.

“Oh that.” She resumed her work while she spoke. “It’s highly contaminated. One touch and your food will come alive and attack you for days until it wears off.”

Ooookay. Not what he expected to hear. And she was so nonchalant about it.

“Really?!” He asked incredulously.

“No!” She finished wrapping his side with new bandages and moved on to his arm.

“I just don’t want you to touch it.” She said with a mischevious smile, then resumed her work.

He chuckled at that, then winced at the pain.

“Careful. Don’t tear the stitches I put in. I won’t do it again.”

Thinking about that cursed sovereign au again...

Nothing super substantial, I don't think. Just Neuvillette getting distracted while trying to find a way to break the curse and finding himself fascinated by the intricacies of human life. How his previous prejudices turn into genuine interest in the way humans interact with the world around them. How they live and grow and work and change in the slightest ways. How their cultures and customs are long lived and influential (as are his own) but each individual human has their own way of going about each daily ritual.

If he's to find a way to break this wretched curse without being caught or his true identity being suspected, then he needs to blend in as well as he possibly can. At least...that's what he told himself. But then he starts asking questions about humans with a little glimmer of interest and curiosity in his eyes. Mimics their rhythms and rituals even if he does not understand them completely. Finds that need to break the curse just a hint less pressing than it had been when he was first forced to take this form.

And of course, there is still that very present and urgent need to return to the sea properly. To be amongst the waves with fins and scales and to hear the water speak to him as it has for the past 500 years - and longer still in terms of his kind. But...now there is another desire inside of him as well. To touch and feel and know this world that he's been thrust into with hands that he'd never believed he would have but...he always secretly desired he did have.

A double edged sword of a curse; robbed of that he has always known - the power that he already had to fight to keep for his kin - and yet it has given him the freedom to walk amongst humans as though he were one of them. See the peace that followed the horrors of war centuries ago. Feel the warmth of the sun on human skin instead of a dragon's scales. The solidness of the earth beneath his feet instead of the security of water that surrounded him on all sides.

...The softness of a human's lips - their soft, even breaths - when he steals a moment to run his thumb over them while they sleep.

A step too far perhaps - one that finds him holed up back in the room that same human had so graciously given him. A step that he has to convince himself was made out of curiosity and only curiosity...and not from these new, human emotions blooming within him. Another reminder that he is not human. That this is not his world. That this curse - this wretched, awful curse - was made to weaken him and force him to submit to that witch of an Archon. He needs to break it. He has to.

Before he completely forgets himself in the longing he's long held for this world.

I just had a dream where Odile adopted Aubrey and she grew up a lot happier and then Aubrey was living in this fancy looking place that Odile entrusted her to cuz she still goes on journeys so she'd visit Aubrey from time to time. Bro i literally “ran”(it was more of a jogg) like a few meters to the bus today to catch it, because it only comes in 40 to 40 minutes and while sitting inside, my legs went numb and i lost all the progress from recovering from an “injury” (ran for less than 20 seconds wrong in sports class and chronic pain flared up)i got a week earlier.

pasta!! question. you've mentioned possibly publishing TRT in the future a few times, so do you have a name in mind for jane? would her actual name be jane and then her new york alias be something else? ik it's a random thought but i was just curious lol

I'm honestly contemplating whether I want to keep her Jane Hind or call her something else. Giving her a new name would be more likely to allow me to keep TRT up online so that's important, although I might make a reference to, yeah, her NY alias (I'd put her in another city) being Jane Hind as a shoutout. If I did change her false name, I'd want it to at least follow the same principle - fairly common and short first name that wouldn't stand out (think Anne, Kate, Ellen, etc), short last name. I might keep the first name Jane and then find something else as a middle ground. The nice part at least is I don't have to think of a unique name even if I change it. She wouldn't want one. She'd want to blend in as best as possible, and that means choosing a name that lets her slide under the radar.

Then again, she is my character, so part of me says that as long as I change the DD elements enough that Marvel can't hit me with a lawsuit, there's no reason she can't still call her Jane Hind since she never belonged to them in the first place. Something I'm thinking about!
