So, just to be clear, I made a post specifically explaining that I hear this phrase as a call for my death personally. I hear this phrase as a call for the death of all Jews to be murdered and denied burial and to be shoved into the sea and provided examples as of why. And I received this in my inbox less than a minute later.

I also explained explicitly that I believe Palestinian people have a right to use this phrase and reclaim it from terrorists who took it from them. I explained that my ultimate goal is peace for Palestinians and for Jews. I explained that I wish for Palestinians to live as full and equal citizens in their homeland. I explained that anything that does not contribute to this goal of peace is causing active harm to Jews as well as deepening the conflict going on right now.

May I ask why you think Biden stepping down and Kamala being the candidate to be 'good news'? I'm still voting for whoever the Democratic candidate is ofc, but I worry this move threw away the average swingvoter who may have been swayed towards voting blue. I don't see how anyone who may have been okay voting for Biden by virtue of him being an old white dude is gonna be as nice towards a brown woman. I mean, people were too sexist for Hillary, the most milquetoast white woman imaginable. I'd really like to hear your perspective.

Biden has been polling like shit for months, and basically fucking everyone has been calling for him to step out of the race for a while now. It's been the opinion of political experts that he doesn't have much of a shot in this election for a variety of reasons. The vast majority of his own base is incredibly dissatisfied with his stance on Palestine (an understatement), and numbers have been reflecting that he was going to be running against some truly miserable odds because of that.

It is genuinely the best option for him to step out of the race. Literally just about anyone else has a much better shot at winning than Biden did. Kamala included! There was a press conference a while back where someone actually asked him if he'd step down if Kamala polled better, and he said he wouldn't. Which is extremely worrying, because it demonstrates that he may have been prioritizing his own personal ego over the importance of keeping Republicans out of office this election.

I don't like Biden, and I really didn't like his odds in this race. Nobody else did, either. The fact that Obama came out and said Biden needs to step down is indication enough that this happened because the situation is really that dire; you have to remember that Democrats are all about Doing Things By The Book, especially in the last 8-ish years when it's been useful for them to be Rule Followers in contrast to the tantrum-throwing chaos machines that Republicans have been. If there was even a sliver of hope for Biden to stay in the race after being chosen in the sad sham that the primaries were this election cycle, they would have kept pushing just to stay within the bounds of convention.

I was ready to push for Biden regardless, because keeping Republicans out of office is priority #1. But I've been saying for a while now that he needs to drop out (just... not on Tumblr, where the dominant conversation is "does voting for a flawed political pawn make you personally responsible for everything they ever do, or should we abstain and let the fascists hijack our government and kickstart several new genocides for the sake of personal moral purity" and I don't think that kind of nuance would be well-received).

I use my grandparents as a litmus test in a lot of this stuff, because they are very much the Typical Liberal Democrats, and their opinions on these things tend to fall in line with the majority of voting Democrats. They absolutely loved Biden in 2020, long before he was chosen as the candidate. They don't anymore. Seeing them lose any and all enthusiasm for voting for this corpse of a man was evidence enough to me that we needed someone else. Ideally someone people can get excited about, because I think folks have mostly lost the perspective we had in 2020 when Trump's nightmarish presidency was fresh in everyone's minds, and served as motivation enough to get to the fucking polls- regardless of who the Dem pick actually was.

From what I understand, Kamala is actually polling better than anyone else right now. I have my fears about voters' racism and misogyny too, but if she's doing well in the polls, I wonder if maybe there's some other factors counteracting that. She's also got name recognition, and the general impression of Being Qualified (because she's been VP already, like Biden was), and Being Likeable (because she comes with the general positive associations of the largely successful Biden presidency, without any baggage of perceived responsibility that Biden himself carries- like Biden did with Obama). She's been flying under the radar while still reaping the benefits of positive associations, and people know who she is. That feels like a good combination, but I don't know enough, and I haven't read enough into it to make any decently educated guesses.

That said, I don't really know as much about who the other potential candidates might be, either. I've heard Pete Buttigieg's name tossed around, but nobody liked his ass back in 2020 and idk if that's actually changed at all. I just know that every politically-knowledgeable/politically-active leftist whose opinion I've heard on the topic has been citing Biden dropping out as the literal only hope for a non-Republican to win this election, and I'm really fucking excited to see that come to fruition. I just hope the Dems pick someone who really does have a good shot.

As a sidenote, I also really hope this marks a shift in how they make decisions, too. It's become increasingly obvious how out-of-touch Democrats are with their voters, and Biden 2024 was just the latest and greatest indicator of exactly how bad that's gotten. The fact that the party has been able to make such an unconventional decision in response to what their voters actually want gives me a little bit of hope that we might be able to influence more change with them going forward than we have been.

A/N: First time using Tumblr to post stories and using mobile to write this. First time writing smut so I’m taking inspiration from other authors.

A few weeks had passed by since I first met Ghost. Trust me when I say this, a lot has happened in those few weeks. In that time, I received a crash course to bring me up to speed. It include anything and everything I needed to know about the current situation I was in.

Ghost had met up with Soap that night, and we made it to a safe house outside of town. That’s how I met Rodolfo. He was kind enough to give me the comfortable bed for the first couple days. Soap had gone on a tangent seconds after introducing himself. The Shadow’s had betrayed them, took some of their men hostage and placed them in a heavily fortified prison.

The hatred these men have for Graves is understandable. One night, they left on a mission and I was asked to stay behind. So I was left alone at the safe house to wander. I didn’t mind feeling useless in that situation, I would’ve been a burden if I did go. The mission was successful, but now the house is overcrowded.

I stuck with Ghost the majority of the time. When he was around, that is. He didn’t seem bothered by my presence which encouraged me to stick around. We would make small talk with each other when no one else was around. Ghost doesn’t like to talk about his past… or anything significant to him. I had asked about the mask once… he ignored me when I asked so I didn’t push further.

Gaz and Price are part of the same task force as Ghost and Soap. At least that’s what I heard. Price was definitely a father figure to the rest of them. It was quite fun hanging out with all of them and hear them banter with each other.

Together, along with the Mexican Special forces, they successfully raided their previous base and took control again. Soap had to fight of a tank that Graves was driving. He does not shut up about that, whilst Ghost didn’t talk about the mission at all.

A party was held that night to celebrate the team’s success. Drinking and loud laughter was involved. Ghost had wandered off almost immediately to a more secluded part of the base. I followed of course, couldn’t leave the big man alone after such a day. He seemed surprised when I walked into his space that night. We decided to go on a walk outside and marvel at the beautiful sky over Las Alma’s.

Price had filled me in on their plan the next day and how they will get me back on American soil unharmed. They were heading to Chicago… presumably to kill someone. I hadn’t asked what the mission was about, to worried about leaving Ghost. We became close friends in the limited time we knew one another. It was weird, but I loved being in his presence.

“I’m going to miss you” Ghost and I took up a room in the base, far away from anyone else. I had dragged him here to talk and he was kind enough to oblige. Today was the last day before we moved out. I would miss Ghost the most, I hated the idea of never seeing him again.

“You’ll manage without me” came his gravely voice. It was deep, music to my ears and, with the accent, it made my knees weak. It was fair to say I gathered quite the attraction to Ghost in the limited time we’ve know each other. I would think of him at night, my hand between my legs and recall the night we met.

How strong (in the manga) is Shin/East Supreme Kai? I remember hearing something about him or someone else stating he could have killed Frieza in a single attack, but I'm not sure if that's canon. As a side note, what led me to this was thinking about the Buu arc, and how it's interesting how (from what I know) the a big part of the first part of it is the gods (Shin and Kibito) realizing that Goku, Vegeta, and co. are far, far stronger than even Shin - the literal highest divine entity (according to canon at the time) in the universe. It acknowledges and points out how freakishly strong the protagonists have gotten, which I find interesting seeing as that's a common criticism I feel of Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Super - but here it is being pointed out as a big part of the story of the original manga!

All five Kaioshins are so strong that they could oneshot Frieza. We only have East Kaioshin's word for that, but Frieza is kind of a big deal and well known among the gods.

Battle of Gods goes on to assert that even Beerus knows Frieza by name. As Strongest in the Universe by an unbelievable margin and head of Genocide Incorporated, he's important enough to ping all of the celestial radars. Everyone who is anyone in the heavenly realms has got eyes on him.

So I can believe Kaioshin when he makes this assessment. I don't think he's talking out of his ass.

Additionally, knowledge of his role as Kaioshin intimidates Piccolo into standing down.

Piccolo is so intimidated by the realization of Kaioshin's identity that he forfeits their match right at the outset.

This, however, is an ambiguous moment. Kaioshin's been keeping his ki to himself, so to speak. Prior to this match, he hadn't shown a hint of his power. Goku, Vegeta, and Piccolo could all tell that there was something about him, but no one knew what.

Piccolo wasn't reacting to the size of Kaioshin's ki signature here. He didn't sense Kaioshin's power and go "OH MY GOD HE'S SO STRONG."

Piccolo freaks out about Kaioshin's identity. He realizes that this man is so high up on the celestial hierarchy, and he doesn't dare. He's basically having an attack of propriety.

In fact, he's actually mistaken about who Kaioshin is. He's got the wrong guy.

He quit the fight because he thinks Shin is secretly this guy.

Daikaio, the Great World-King, or Grand Kai in the anime dub. That's who Piccolo thought he was scurrying away in intimidation of. Even right there in the ring, he had no idea who Shin truly was.

So we can't really make an assessment of how Piccolo compares to Kaioshin in fighting strength based on that. Piccolo forfeit due to presumptions of Kaioshin's Daikaio's reputation and cosmic importance.

When in actuality Kaioshin is a super-secret ultra-class of god whose existence is merely fabled even among gods.

That's why Piccolo thought he was Daikaio. Kaioshin is not supposed to be a real thing that exists.

This is all setup for when the other shoe drops: The revelation that actually we mere mortals left Kaioshin in the dust a ways back, and nobody - neither him nor us - initially realizes it.

Earth has gotten fucking weird in ways Kaioshin couldn't fathom. He was expecting Goku, Vegeta, and Gohan to back him up and be his sidekicks. He sorely underestimated them.

Goku compares Dabra to Cell, which gives us a bit of a yardstick to work with for Kaioshin. Because Kaioshin is freaked out by Dabra.

Kaioshin's reaction to seeing a Cell-tier force on the field is "Oh wow, we are fucked."

An assessment that Dabra agrees with.

In fact, when push comes to shove and Kaioshin does get the chance to fight Dabra, he decides he'll take the weaker foe, thank you very much.

Despite their differences, Kaioshin and Dabra are in agreement on one point: Kaioshin could not have won the Cell Games.

This is not proof of weakness on his part but proof of incredible strength on the others' parts, however. To put this in perspective, let's remember that Frieza was the most powerful mortal in the universe by a factor of 1000x over the second-most. It took a freak 1-in-a-trillion mutation to make him that strong, and that's beyond the other freak 1-in-a-trillion mutations.

Cell, meanwhile is a fart on the winds of time. On the cosmic scale, he was barely a blink of an eye. He existed for four years on one planet where he accomplished nothing of note and then died. He was a big deal to that one trash-tier scrub world but nobody outside of Earth has ever heard of him.

That this nobody Earthling who did nothing and died immediately was so unbelievably powerful that he dwarfed even Frieza - and pushed others of that world to become unbelievably powerful too - is a weird footnote in the history of the universe.

So we get this odd dynamic where Frieza is the yardstick by which Kaioshin measures mortal strength.

Literally name-dropping Frieza to try and convey to Vegeta just how powerful Buu is, as if that's a name we're still meant to be impressed by.

But Cell is the yardstick that Hipster Goku uses.

"Yeah, I'm over Frieza. I'm really into this new guy called Cell. He's pretty obscure; You've probably never heard of him."

So that's where Kaioshin lies, and the crux of the bitter irony at the start of the Buu arc. By mortal standards, Kaioshin should be beyond anything they could possibly imagine. And Dabra is terrifying beyond even him.

But here on Earth we had this little thing called the Cell Games where we had to fight a dude that was in Dabra's league so we got fucking jacked. And then kept going afterward and got even more jacked.

The result is a god who is unfathamable by mortal standards, yet thoroughly outclassed by these specific mortals and their exceptional circumstances.

Unpopular opinion: Azula is not delusional.

Something I've noticed a lot when I come across analysis about Azula as a character is that people often presume that because Azula is "crazy," her worldview has no rational basis. People talk about her thoughts and feelings as if they are purely a result of her personal dysfunction and have no basis in her experience of the world.

But that flat-out ignores or overlooks what Azula actually says when she lets her guard down a teensy bit.

For instance, her inability to open up to people is often portrayed as an obsession with not seeming weak. But on the show, she never says anything to that effect. That's more like Ozai's thing*. When Azula's confronting her habit of using fear to control people, her rationale is not about strength and weakness. What she actually says is, "Trust is for fools! Fear is the only reliable way."

Azula is exceptionally smart and perceptive. I keep repeating this, but it often gets overlooked when people talk about her worldview. Azula is acutely aware that she uses fear to control people, and she's acutely aware of why she does it. Everything in her world—everything that she can see, hear, and touch—tells her that she cannot trust anyone, that they will abandon and/or betray her when given the opportunity. The only way to keep them from doing that is to make them too scared to even think about abandoning or betraying her. And it works! It works splendidly for Ozai, and it worked for her too until it didn't.

Tragically, life has proven Azula right many times. Everyone she cares about or opens herself up to leaves her or stabs her in the back. How do you prevent that? Making people too terrified to even consider it. She's not delusional for believing this. She'd be delusional to ignore it.

Azula is wrong about some really important things but she's not dumb. This is, I believe, what would make healing or rehabilitating her so challenging: everything she's experienced in her short life has proven to her that she has no reason to trust anyone.

How do you get through to somebody like that? Megatons of patience, care, and gentleness. There is no magic bullet. There is no shortcut. The people who can do this would have to be extremely motivated or a bodhisattva. The main thing that would prevent someone from getting through to Azula is not that she's too far gone to change, but that the vast majority of people don't have what it takes.

*Seriously, this is a man who gloats to the fucking Avatar about having "all the power in the world." This is the same guy who taunts a preteen survivor of a genocide about how he and his people are too weak to deserve to live. This dude is fixated on seeming and being all-powerful. oh hell yeah. so more generally, i view top/bottom dynamics as characterization shorthand, which is not how absolutely everyone thinks about it but it's true for me. i think people who really care about dynamics tend to sort themselves into two characterization camps for a given character, and usually i fuck with one camp more than the other. also when i think about the roles of giving vs receiving there are, in fact, Vibes-based decisions i make about that.

also complicating this is that we tend to conflate topping with domination and bottoming with submission. and in some ways the use of top/bottom dynamics for me overlaps with dom/sub but not always, though it's also that there's a vulnerability in bottoming that is distinct from the vulnerability of topping. i'm not nearly educated enough to give a real seminar on dynamics and bdsm roles and how those intersect in yaoi and fandom so my only credentials i can give here is that i have lots and lots of kinky sex lmao

I am completely convinced that if we had never read these books our gorey pseudo memories would not be HALF as detailed and disturbingly accurate as they are now. Like seriously we did so well in anatomy classes because of this.
