Ghost Friend

Yoongi's spirit has stayed in his dilapidating home for decades. One day, Jimin and his friends Taehyung and Jungkook decide to visit the property, and Jimin makes a ghost friend.

Or, the one where Jimin is totally Jean Grey.

👻 warnings: uhhh...honestly, none? Yoongi is a ghost (which implies that he is dead!) but otherwise, this is a very chill, cute little Halloweenie fic. it is not in the slightest bit scary! Yoongi is lonely, and there is a positive ending. i guess my sense of humor could count as a warning!!!

👻 note: since it's a drabble, the descriptions are not as vivid as usual. it's mostly ~vibes~.

“Hey, Chim, think fast!”

The one who reacts to the nickname Chim – who Yoongi surmises is actually named Jimin – glances up in time for an inflatable ball to travel through Yoongi's spectral form and pummel Jimin in the side of the face. The two men Jimin trespasses with stand about ten feet away, and the buffer of the two – who Yoongi thinks is named Jeongguk – is doubled over laughing, dark hair falling in his face. 

The one Yoongi thinks is named Jimin is understandably annoyed, picking up the ball, which is painted like a basketball but much smaller, inspecting it before throwing it back with nowhere near as much strength. It nearly hits the one who might be named Taehyung, and falls to the floor, rolling away.

Jimin complains, “Don’t throw haunted toys at me, you fucking creeps,” sounding exasperated.

The toy isn’t haunted, nor does it belong to Yoongi, but he is unwilling to correct them. He thinks some children brought it to the property long ago, before the house had become somewhat of a local legend, and left it behind. Sometime in the early 2000s, he thinks, though he cannot be sure.

“This place isn’t really haunted,” the one who might be named Taehyung says in a low, somewhat whiny voice. He kicks at debris that has fallen from the dilapidated ceiling with a frown. 

Of course, this place is haunted. Yoongi standing in the center of their friend group proves as much. Only Yoongi has not made his presence known, just yet. 

Although it is somewhat disrespectful the way people always treat his house like a heap of trash, Yoongi rather likes it when folks come to visit. Being a ghost can get quite lonely, especially because Yoongi hesitates to let anyone really perceive him. 

He thinks he would like to let Jimin perceive him. Jimin, with his pretty, pouty lips that he nibbles nervously, causing them to redden and become even more pouty. Jimin, with his short ash-brown hair and stunning blend of sharp and soft features, depending on which angle he stands at. There is something gentle and understanding in Jimin's wide, dark eyes that Yoongi wishes he could get lost in. 

If only he were still alive. 

"Jeongguk," Yoongi hears Taehyung say quietly, leaning in close and pointing to another discarded ball. This one is larger and red, and its surface collects dust better than the inflatable one. "You should throw this at him when his back is turned."

Jeongguk scoffs and shakes his head, muttering, "You are so childish, Tae," despite walking over to the red ball and picking it up anyway. He very quietly tosses the ball into the air and catches it while Jimin meanders in the opposite direction, distracted by some graffiti on Yoongi's busted living room wall. 

"Hey, Chim!" Jeongguk shouts.

Yoongi, who has begun slowly gravitating toward Jimin, watches as Jimin sighs and turns, shouting, "What, now?"

Jeongguk chucks the ball, and Jimin recoils this time, lifting his hand in order to deflect it. Except, without thinking, Yoongi reaches up and stops the ball in mid-air. Then, realizing his mistake, he quickly drops it. 

If Yoongi could breathe, he would be holding his breath. He feels anxious as his gaze moves between Jimin and his curious friends, whose expressions are frozen with shock. Jimin's hand had lifted just in time for the ball, but Yoongi managed to exert just enough of his spiritual energy to stop it. 

"Holy shit!" Jeongguk shouts, breaking the tense silence. 

Jimin's hand still hovers in the air, and he glances at it curiously. "What…just happened?" he asks. 

"You're fucking Magneto!" Jeongguk shouts. "That's what happened."

Taehyung sighs, stepping closer and picking up the red ball, which had rolled in the direction of his feet. "Magneto can only control metal, Jeongguk. Like a magnet…it's in his name."

Jeongguk shakes his head, mind clearly working on overdrive. "Right, right, right," he mutters under his breath, seemingly searching somewhat frantically for something other than busted concrete and dust to throw at his friend next. "You're like…Jean Grey then."

As Jimin finally begins to lower his hand, the stunned expression remains on his face, and he begins to glance around at eye level as if he suspects there may have been some kind of invisible force that helped him. If Yoongi had a heart, it would sink as Jimin looks right at him – right through him. His eyes are sad and curious, and Yoongi longs so badly to just reach out and touch him. 

"You have to do it again!" Jeongguk exclaims.

"Can you do it again?" Taehyung softly asks. 

"I…" Jimin mutters, brows knitting as he shakes his head. "No, I—I don't know what happened, but I am definitely not—"

"Think fast!" Taehyung shouts, causing both Jimin and Yoongi to sigh. Jimin reaches his hand up and, without giving it another thought, Yoongi also reaches his hand out, stopping the ball right in front of Jimin's open palm.

This time, when Jimin's eyes search the air right where Yoongi stands, Yoongi fumbles and drops the ball. He had meant to hold it up as a show to Jimin's friends, but even Jimin's unknowingly undivided attention makes him panic. If Yoongi had a heart, it would be going wild right now. 

"How the fuck…" Jeongguk mutters, at the same time Jimin – whose eyes have not left the space Yoongi occupies – mutters, "Who the fuck…"

"Pick it back up," Taehyung insists. "With no hands."

"I can't—" Jimin begins but Jeongguk whines, "Just try!"

Jimin sighs and squats in front of the ball, which has been rolled over to Jimin's feet by one of his friends. Yoongi also squats. 

All is quiet as Jimin holds his hand out in front of the red ball. He mutters, "This is so stupid," under his breath while chewing on the inside of his mouth. Yoongi wonders if that is a nervous tick of his – wonders what other nervous ticks he may have. 

Jimin knits his brow and Yoongi snaps back to what he is meant to focus on: the ball. He reaches out and slowly begins to lift the red ball with both hands, ever so slightly. Jimin gasps softly while his friends begin to shout. 

"How—" Jimin mutters as his eyes lift to Yoongi again and glance around the space, searching. 

"This is crazy!" Jeongguk shouts.

"How did we never know you could do this?" Taehyung asks. 

Jimin clicks his tongue and drops his hands, making Yoongi drop the ball, as well. "I can't do this," Jimin snaps back. "Obviously there is some kind of supernatural force at play."

"There's no such thing as supernatural forces," Jeongguk responds, sounding like an annoyed schoolchild. 

This makes Jimin laugh. His eyes become little crescent moons, and Yoongi thinks he has never seen anything so beautiful in his life, nor his afterlife. 

"You don't believe in ghosts but you believe in telekinesis?" Jimin argues, amusement shaking through every word. "Even though it was your idea to come through the haunted Min property? Make it make sense!"

Hearing Yoongi's name pass Jimin's lips makes him gasp. 

"Pick it up again," Jeongguk insists. 

Jimin sighs. 

Yoongi smiles. 

After a moment of hesitation, Jimin holds his hands out, just as he had done before. The ball only rolled about a foot away when Jimin dropped it, and he leans forward. 

Yoongi also leans forward, and when he picks up the ball, Jimin must think twice, because he begins to lower his hands. Before Yoongi has a chance to lower the ball to match Jimin's movement, their energies overlap. 

It is so brief and so faint, but Jimin's fingertips fall right into Yoongi's energy, passing through the side of his hand. All of his energy tingles, from his fingertips to his toes, and he drops the ball entirely when he realizes Jimin must have felt something, as well. 

This time, when Jimin gazes right in his direction, Yoongi has to fight the urge to materialize on the spot and make his presence known. In the past, when he has been particularly moody about guests in his home, he has materialized just to scare the shit out of them. That is one of the reasons his old home has such a reputation for being haunted, almost a decade later. 

Jimin's lips part as if he is about to say something, when Taehyung asks, "Jimin? Are you okay?"

In a blink, Jimin clears his throat and says, "Yeah, sorry. Thought I felt something."

"Okay, well," Jeongguk complains impatiently, "pick it up again."

Jimin sighs but smiles, shaking his head slightly as his gaze passes over Yoongi again and then returns to the ball. He holds his hands out and pretends to concentrate, and Yoongi reaches out and picks up the ball. 

A bright flash fills the space, making Yoongi drop the ball while Jimin heavily blinks and frowns, looking up at his friends. 

"I got it!" Jeongguk cheers. "Proof that Jimin is Jean Grey!" 

"You can hardly tell the ball is even lifted," Taehyung bickers. "From the angle it looks like it could still be on the floor."

While the two of them argue, Jimin continues to search the space. He holds out his hand, palm facing Yoongi, and without giving it any thought, Yoongi returns the gesture by holding his hand up and ever so slightly touching their palms together. 

"Heol," Jimin mutters, eyes widening. "I knew it."

The other two continue to bicker while Jimin sits and stares, smile slowly creeping over his face. If Yoongi had a heart, it would be aching. All he wants is to say something back or materialize fully and let Jimin see him. But what kind of a relationship could be had between a human trespasser and a ghost who refuses to leave his own home?

"Jimin-ssi!" Jeongguk shouts, "we have to do it again. I need a better picture."

"We are not taking another picture," Jimin says, rolling his eyes. "I promise you, I am not Jean Grey."

As the three friends argue, Yoongi stays squatted, eyes trailing from Jimin to the ball. He feels a deep, overwhelming sadness that has only compounded in the years since his death. Loneliness. Grief. But he also feels happy. Although he knows it would not be a good idea for Jimin to see him, he thinks that it is okay if he lets Jimin feel him a little more. 

"Just do it one more time!" Jeongguk insists. 

"No pictures," Jimin responds, to which Jeongguk quickly adds, "My phone is in my pocket!"

Jimin sighs, Yoongi sighs, and they both reach for the ball. 

"Are you ready, ghost friend?" Jimin asks so quietly that Yoongi wonders if he may have misheard. 

But he knows he has not misheard because Jimin stares right at him – right through him – with a smile. If Yoongi had a heart, it would be soaring.

Ghost friend. Yoongi likes the sound of that.

When did you start writing?

Like wayyyyyyyyy back, I technically wrote my first story when i was 11. I didn't write again until i was 15 (original pieces + fanfics), then i stopped and Im back at it again at 26 ayoooo

Are there different themes or genres you enjoy reading than what you write?

if i really need to search further into my favorite books, i would definitely say psychological horror and dramas

Is there a writer you want to emulate or get compared to often?

I don't know writers enough to really get an idea of how to compare myself to any of them, but I do know that i tend to emulate what i'm exposed to, so if I read an entire series from an author, and they used a certain syntax, i'll tend to also do it by force of habit. (i also consider it a flaw cause i see it as hindering my writing creativity ;-;)

Can you tell me a bit about your writing space?

its my personal pc that doubles as my work space, so its a bit all over the place ngl haha, theres a lot of astarion stickers and posters, all the furniture (keyboard, mouse, desk, etc) is pastel purple (my favorite colour), i have three screens (mostly for work but its also useful in day to day life) and my three wallpapers are astarion, of course. sometimes when i feel a writers block, i found out that writing on my laptop does unblock me! in that case, youll find me typing away on my couch in my living room uwu

What's your most effective way to muster up a muse?

MUSIC. What I write will be highly dependent on what I listen at the moment, like I was really into boywithuke when i wrote my angsty fics, and then i moved to a dark romance playlist and that got me going for die for you but then i was unable to continue my other fic cause i wasnt in an angsty mood anymore ._. (i swear i didnt abandon it, it just isnt the playlists turn to play on repeat) and rn im a lot into sleep token and ari abdul

Are there any recurring themes in your writing? Do they surprise you?

So. Much. Smut. And angst. not surprising! my writing will also often depict my current state of mind. dw im in therapy, im working on it

What is your reason for writing?

It's my favorite creative output/the one im most experienced in! i wanna start drawing but i never find the time to really get into it and also terrified of failure which brings me to my second reason, its all i think i can do and i get dopanine reading nice comments teehee

Is there any specific comment or type of comment you find particularly motivating?

when people tell me about a favourite part, when they liked the tension i managed to create, how i convey some characters, and most of all when i get told they loved a character i created!! this is so encouraging and pushes me to continue <3

How do you want to be thought about by your readers?

i dont know how to answer to that .-. uh, i guess i want to be liked? seen as a good writer if anything? idk man ;-;

What do you feel is your greatest strength as a writer?

Definitely descriptions, and creating a build up in a scene. I feel like it comes naturally to me and people have often told me that they are never lost when reading my scenes which reassures me so much LMAO I feel validated I also think I make really fun dialogue, especially banter with my ocs/tavs

How do you feel about your own writing?

i often self criticise my own work a lot, and i get that imposter syndrome where ill reread my work before posting and go "what the hell" in those moments, im grateful im not writing on paper cause that sheet would find its way to the trash real quick ^^ ' im sincerely truly blessed that my partner offers himself to read my pieces and beta read them, and tell me his honest opinion (there are things i wrote i wish i could forget and yall better be thankful he was there to stop me from posting first versions)

When you write, are you influenced by what others might enjoy reading, or do you write purely for yourself, or a mix of both?

mix of both definitely. initially i wrote my own ideas and if people do end up liking them hell yeah!!! glad im able to find people that vibe the same way i do! then again, when i write for people, even if most of it comes from my silly little imagination, it was initially influenced by the request itself and is going to guide the writing specific to this piece, which honestly makes sense imo

ahhh NO THIS ISNT NOSINESS i LOVE oversharing get ready and also THANK YOU FOR SENDING THIS!!! it was super fun and distracted me from the agony that is writing plot and remembering that its sunday night 🥺

🙋‍♀️ - do any real-life people know what I write fanfic? Uhhh. My husband does but I've never let him read any of it. I do tell people that I write 'fiction' in my spare time, because its like, my one hobby, but definitely don't extrapolate. i'm making the assumption that most people in the medical field don't know shit about ao3 but i also know for a FACT that there are multiple weeb sleeper agents out there. doing medicine. while weebing. BUT. i'm sure if anyone recognized any of my stuff it would be a 'what were YOU doing at the devils sacrament' situation haha

❌ - a trope i will never write? Probably alpha/beta/omega stuff. Some people do them really well and I've certainly read really great ABO, but its one of those dynamics that I would never want to voluntarily explore. Its actually the one tag I actively filter out when looking for new fic. On that same note, Pregnancy/Kidfic. Babies and parenting give me the major ick (this may be colored heavily by the fact that i dont want children and am at that age where people keep ASKING ABOUT IT.) tbh i'm also not much of a fantasy person or historical person, so a lot of hybrid/mermaid/royalty AUs are a no for me. and, probably most controversially? established relationship. listen i am here for the drama i dont care about healthy loving domestic stuff! i want miscommunication! i want pining! i want discovering each other for the first time! i want fumbling and blushing!!!

.... wow there are a LOT of things i dont think i'd write lol yikes.

💔 - Is there a fic of yours that broke your heart? Not to be predictable but yeah. Zero-sum game. In part because it was a very vulnerable place of writing emotionally - both because i had not, for many years, tapped into my own mental health experiences for fear of it being triggering while writing, but also partially because i was working in the icu during peak covid and everyone was dying and it was so fucking depressing and demoralizing. I teared up at a couple of scenes - this ended up super long so i'm going to break it down by chapter:

Chapter 7 when Katsuki walked by the bar his friends were having a reunion at, Jirou ran out to get him and Kirishima stopped her, saying 'we have to let him go.'

Chapter 12, Katsuki asking - are you afraid? And Zero looking up at the sky saying - Am I afraid? And then reciting that poem. 'Though my soul may set in darkness, it will rise in perfect light. I have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night.' That scene I can see so so vividly in my head, hear their voices, intonations, expressions - and it breaks my heart. The tent scene at the end of Chapter 12, too - 'Do you think that's what love feels like?' 'Fuck if I know.' FUCK ME UP. ARHGHH S.

Chapter 15 - Mitsuki saying 'But you’re gonna eventually have to find a way to love people without hurting them. Or you’re going to end up alone.' and Katsuki having a breakdown after. Then later in the chapter, Inko asking '“… I wonder, sometimes. Who he would become if he never met you.” WHAT THE FUCKKKKK

Chapter 19 - god. Where do I even start. The entire confession scene is like punch after punch to the ribcage. Specifically:

"How does Katsuki explain that the first time in his life he considered he might be in love is when hands he’s dreamt off for nearly twenty years (Now just the one. Half is gone, because it has to be, because to be complete is to give Katsuki more than he deserves) wrapped themselves around his throat, making him wonder if love might be a bit like dying, might be a bit like that last fucking breath when nothing in the goddamn world can feel more cathartic - that last strawberry, the last sip of water, the last bullet in the chamber - and they bled and fought and fucked and destroyed each other and nothing has ever felt to pure and perfect and devastating and absolutely holy - if that’s not love, then what the hell is?"

and

"“Yeah. Yeah, that’s right. I love you and I’m walking away from you and I never want to see you again. Okay? I never want to see you again.”

AND

“…What am I supposed to do now?” Inko Midoriya whispers out to the street. No more fretting, no more restless nights, no more ‘what if’s.’ Her son is back, but despite that, she’s still alone. They both are.

“I don’t know.” Katsuki responds honestly.

“Find something else to live for, I guess.”

Chapter 23 - the proposal scene. Specifically:

'Not because you saved me physically – and you did, you did, you’re always saving me, and I’m always saving you, I fuckin’ know, we’ll always save each other because that’s who we are, but it's more than that. Its more.'

AND

“But you need to know – you need to. That, with all of me, I love who you were, I love who you are, and I love who you’re becoming.”

“I want to spend the rest of my life with you. No matter how short, no matter how painful, no matter how fucking temporary all of this is. I want to experience it with you.”

“Marry me.”

AND. Finally and most of all. The authors note at the end. Even re-reading it now, its so raw. I think about this a lot:

'It all anchors on the belief that you can still be who you want to be. The belief that ‘broken’ people can get better. The belief, the ever present faith - because it has to be faith, because all tangible things are friable but not faith, not this - that you can be found. That you are not irredeemable. That there is a future worth fighting for.'

I have moments from 'we will wait and wait in that space' and 'nothing else fills' that made me tear up, but it still won't match the raw levels of emotion and vulnerability that was channeled in zero-sum. even now, years later, its still my heart.

Wow sorry this got SUPER long. but i loved going through zero-sum and picking out my favorite scenes so thank you for that :) :) :)

💲 - would i ever open commissions? gosh no, probably not. i'm not great at one-shots and deadlines and i work super inconsistent hours and tbh i have minimal confidence in the consistency of my writing to offer it as a service. i'm also very lucky to be pretty secure financially so i wouldn't have that kind of external driving force. but i'm very flattered that that's even a question. 🥺 id happily give away all my mind-vomit for free.

If you're looking for writing critique, i think your biggest issue might be repitition! using the same phrasing really close together + not a lot of variation in sentence structure can make the flow feel really stiff and awkward. For example:

"Would you like me to kiss it better?" The words kind of slipped out stupidly. He almost instantly regretted them but, as he did any time he said something he said something he instantly realized was stupid, played it off smoothly.

the word "stupid" is used in some form twice, instantly twice, and stupidly, smoothly, and instantly have a repeated -ly ending, creating a bit of clutter for such a short paragraph. Alliteration can be great, but it should be more intentional and used to create a specific atmosphere.

vs

"Would you like me to kiss it better?" The words kind of slipped out, sounding like an idiot. He almost instantly regretted them but, as he did any time he said something he said something he realized was stupid, played it off smoothly.

see how the second just flows a bit better without much change? your brain isnt tripping at every repeated phrase, and each part of the sentence has a unique feel.

You could also stand to shave off some filler words! Things like almost, kind of, and some of the middling phrases that come out naturally when we speak can make the narration feel less impactful.

"Would you like me to kiss it better?" The words slipped out. He instantly regretted them but, as he often did, played it off smoothly.

Additionally, phrases like "the words slipped out stupidly" are repetitive: "slipped out" already implies an awkward, unintentional vibe to the dialogue that makes any variation of stupidly/like an idiot redundant. "as he did anytime he realized what he said was stupid" creates that same redundancy with "he instantly regretted it", which already implies the phrase was stupid and he didnt like it.

Trimming helps a lot with clarity! It can feel scary to watch your word count go down, but taking a second and third pass at editing, trimming off and rearranging your sentences to see what makes the most sense and provides the smoothest read can really help!

(of course, there are times where cluttered, awkward, or nervous-seeming narration can help build atmosphere, but just as a general rule)

Sorry if this seems like a lot! I really, really love editing haha, its my favourite part of the writing process! I hope these tips help, though, and if they do and you ever want a beta reader or some specific help with something youre working on, i would LOVE to help out ^-^

perhaps in certain conditions... it honestly depends on how I see main game playing out! Either way, I feel like both would end up "dead" in Some way no matter what in renegade. But it's entirely possible depending on circumstance one could 'die' in paragon too..... but again it depends on how things go bc I have not a damn clue what's gonna occur LOL

overall, there isnt a solid answer for this. it entirely depends on multiple factors but tldr; yea sure, if it also benefits Their story

🎓 - How long have you had the OC?

I've had Fate in at least some form since V13 beta so uhh... late August of 2021 iirc??? Prism was from before that though, I wanna say either December 2020 or February 2021. Def before V13

🎯 -What do they do best?

obvious unfunny joke aside, in terms of like, actual talents besides screwing up the world, Prism is insanely good at any woodwind instruments. They're also really good at talking their way in an out of things- Nat 20 charisma really helps- but unfortunately has the vitus syndrome of has great charisma and this is a downside for literally everyone else. They also have a really sharp memory- which they kind of despise, for many reasons, but this allows them to remember key information and be good at stuff like garufan magic. Fate, um, let's specifically talk about the human body aspect of it-- Xiu Hua was extremely smart and good with biology and magic. She was effective and precise with her experiments and had a silver tongue as well- albeit very sharp too. Alas being one of the best scientists in the world cannot let you escape from the hubris of humanity ... she was also good with chemistry and robotics. And basically a lot of science to do with lifeforms and the effects of magic on them (and by extension also pretty good at math.) She was an excellent singer and dancer as well but lost her voice and time.

kinda answered this already ig LOL but Prism is good at playing woodwinds! even as ### #### ######## ## ### ##### , they used them in rituals and such but also just played them for the fun of it! They also like stargazing a lot, and reading history books.

Fate was quite fond of the singing and dancing of course as well, and considered some of her more silly experiments while being the CODIRECTOR a side hobby as well (u know, kinda more normal stuff, that wasn't life threatening.) .

Or building little robot grubbin to bite the asses of people she didnt like.

♡ When your relationship started you knew this day would come, but you didn’t think it’ll be this soon. It had only been two years since you and your friends got out of the Neo World Program.

♡ But- he was so healthy! it didn’t hurt him that much to get out of bed and he only got tired of walking after around ten minutes. At least that was what he told you so you won’t worry.

♡ In reality his health was getting worse by the second. He could no longer get out of bed, his gaze seemed lost and he was losing weight.

♡ “Y-Y/N?” A high pitched voice got you out of your thoughts. You looked up to find Mikan. That’s right, Nagito was having some sort of check up and you had to wait outside of his hospital room “I- uhm- I already finished the weekly check up. He- t-told me he wants to talk to you”.

♡ You nod in response, opening the door to find him laying in bed looking at the ceiling. He turns his head to look at you, with the same smile you loved to see. “My hope! ah- ....” he pauses for a moment, thinking of something “What was your name again?” You should have been used to that, but it still hurt nonetheless.

♡ “Y/N, my name is Y/N”. You bite the inside of your mouth “Right, right. My apologies, Y/N” He breathes out with a sight. You go to the bookcase beside his bed to search for his favorite book. The memory of Nekomaru and Akane helping to bring it to his hospital room came back to your memory, a smile drawing across your face.

♡ You sit down in the chair you brought a few months ago. “Ahaha… I’m so grateful to have such an amazing partner, you came here to read for me- I- I knew my luck didn’t run out!” He blurts out between laughs.

♡ You remember that yesterday he said the same thing, and the day before that, and the day before that- you get the idea. “Of course I would come here, Nagito. I love you- more than anything else” You take his hand in yours planting a soft kiss. “How about we continue reading where we left off?” You place your now free hand on top of his head, petting his messy hair.

♡ A soft blush drew across his face as he quite literally melted onto your head pats, a soft laugh escaping your mouth. After a while you decided to read the book you intended to.

♡ It only took him about an hour for him to fall asleep without you realizing it. You stayed there watching him sleep. You sigh, you still didn’t want to believe how bad he was getting.

♡ You tried to keep having hope as he always told you, that he was going to get better out of nowhere and this would be just a bad memory. But knew that won’t happen, he was going to get worse and worse until he became a shell of what he was before, and there’s nothing you could do about it.

♡ Even so, the least you could do was to be by his side the little time he had left.

Princey's date was called off?! How?! Who on earth wouldn't like him?! Virgil was furious, who the f**k says that they don't like someone until after they accept the date?!

...wait.

Virgil was such a hypocrite.

Virgil wished he didn't relate so much to mystery guy, then maybe he would want to punch him.

Well, Princey seemed to be doing ok. And maybe Virgil was a tad more excited then he should be, but can you blame him? He's had a crush on Princey for a year, and he might actually have a chance now!

Well, as much of a chance you could have when you've never even seen each other.

Now all Virgil had to do was go on this not-a-date date and live. Yay.

"Dad!" Virgil scolded. "I'm not going to leech off my friends!"

Remy just chuckled. "C'mon Virge, live a little! It's not everyday you actually step outside. With a couple of boys no less."

Virgil turned red. "It's a friend date, Dad." He grumbled.

Remy turned to where Virgil was in the passenger seat and tilted down his shades to look him in the eyes. "Sure it is."

Virgil grumbled something as Remy pulled the car in front of the mall. "Here's your stop, babe."

Virgil rolled his eyes as his mouth betrayed him by smiling. "Whatever, I'll see you later."

"Love you." Remy added while Virgil stepped out of the car.

"Love you too, Dad."

Virgil eventually made his way over to the food court, where everyone was meeting.

Virgil was also questioning why he suggested this hang-out anyway. It was going to be so awkward! How was he going to have a good time with the guy he rejected, a nerd who could probably kill him, and a "friend" he only started talking to two days ago?

Why did he do this?

"Viiiiiirrrrrrrgiiiiiiiiiilllllllll!!!!!" Patton was suddenly running towards where Virgil was standing in the food court.

"Uh- wait-" Virgil got trapped in a bear hug (how? Patton is so small!) as soon as Patton reached him.

"Patton, try not to kill the poor fellow." Roman chuckled as he walked up to the trap that Virgil was caught in.

Patton eventually let Virgil breathe as he let go. "Sorry! I just got excited! I don't normally go many places!" He exclaimed.

"Well, we'll have to take you to more places then, Patton." Logan smirked as he approached the small group.

Roman chuckled again as Patton blushed and silently thanked him. "Well then!" Roman announced. "Where shall we go first?"

"Hot To-"

"No, Pumpkin King, we're not going to Hot Topic." Roman immediately interrupted.

"Then why did I even come?" Virgil whined playfully.

"C'mon, Roman! Hot Topic does have some really good Disney stuff~" Patton pushed in a teasing tone.

Roman let out a long, exaggerated groan. "Fiiiiiinnnnnneeeee. We can go."

"Yes!"

"Yay!"

"Satisfactory."

"Wow. Y'all are a bunch of nerds." Said Roman.

"Says the guy who cried when they changed Mickey Mouse's art style." Logan shot back.

"ListEN IT LOOKS LIKE ABSOLUTE CRAP AND ISN'T TRUE TO THE ORIGINAL!"

"Roman, please, I don't want to spend twenty minutes talking about-"

Roman quickly pulled out his phone and displayed two Mickey Mouse pictures with different art styles. "Look, Logan. Look at how they massacred my boy."

And after that debate, they made their way to the dark and ridiculously edgy Hot Topic, unfortunately located next to the very bright and pink Justice store.

"I must go, my people need me." Virgil joked as he walked through the doorway.

"Of course this is where your people are, where else could you find the emos?" Roman rolled his eyes playfully.

"Oh, do you know people here, Virgil?" Logan asked innocently, clearly not understanding the joke.

"No- it's- it's a meme."

"Don't even try, Angstintator, no one could ever teach Logan the way of memes." Roman announced, slowly drifting towards the Disney section.

"Well, they are nonsensical. They make zero sense most of the time!" Logan defended.

Patton suddenly gasped like a little kid in a candy store. "Vi, Ro, Lo, look!!!!!!"

They all looked to where Patton was pointing, and saw it.

They holy grail of cute things. Something that could almost (almost) rival Patton himself.

A Pusheen plush that was holding a cookie. It was beautiful (to Patton at least).

Patton squealed and grabbed the closest person (which happened to be Logan) and held his hand while dragging him towards the plush in excitement.

Logan immediately flushed and trailed after Patton helplessly.

Roman chuckled at that and returned to looking at the Disney merchandise, while Virgil made his way over to the band t-shirts.

"Look!!! Look at it!!!! It's so cuuuutttteeee!!!!!!" Patton fawned. He checked the tag for the price and immediately frowned. "Shoot..." He mumbled under his breath.

"What's wrong?" Logan asked, then checked the price. $39.98. Not too expensive, but expensive enough to be a pain.

"Ah. Not bring enough money?" Patton slowly nodded at the question, looking...guilty? Or maybe disappointed? Logan didn't really know, only that it was making Patton upset.

Logan frowned at that. Someone as bright and kind as Patton shouldn't be unhappy! Patton deserved to be happy at least 100% of the time, Logan thought.

"Logan!!! Come here!!! Look at this!" Roman called from behind a shelf somewhere, knocking Logan out of his thoughts.

"Uh- excuse me for a second Patton." Patton nodded with a small (was it sad, too?) smile as Logan went to find Roman.

Roman was located behind a shelf filled with more Disney merchandise. "What, Roman? I was kind of busy." He asked, clearly annoyed.

"Yeah, busy failing at wooing him." Roman rolled his eyes and scoffed. "Seriously Logan, how could you be so dense?"

"Do you want me to provide a list of examples and events that you were being 'dense' at?"

Roman simply groaned. "C'mon Logan, think for a second! Patton doesn't have enough money for the plush that makes him smile. A smile which you love seeing. Therefore, what do you do with that fat wallet of yours?"

It suddenly clicked in Logan's head. "Oh. Oh! Do you think he'll be happy about it?"

"Of course he will! He'll adore you!" Roman pushed Logan out from behind the shelf. "Now go gettem!"

Meanwhile, Patton was talking with Virgil.

"Hey, Virge! Did you find anything?"

All Virgil had to do to answer the question was look at Patton with the pile of shirts in his arms.

"Uh. Yeah." Virgil replied, thinking of how embarrassing this was.

Patton giggled a bit. "Do you need help carrying that?"

"Please." Virgil sighed.

Patton took some of the shirts and other clothing items (were those fishnets?!) out of Virgil's hands.

"So, are you doing ok?" Patton asked.

"O-oh. Yeah, I'm ok. I'm just worried about...if Roman is. Like, what if he's mad at me? I bet thats what he and Logan are talking about right now-"

"Slow down, Virgil." Patton interrupted. "I'm sure they aren't, and I really doubt that Roman's mad at you. If he was mad, he seems like the type to show it."

"That's...probably right." Virgil mumbled.

"Just calm down a bit, and have some fun! You are having fun, aren't you?"

Virgil smiled lightly. "Yeah. I am."

Patton smiled too. "Then let's go have more fun!"

And with that, Patton grabbed Virgil's hand and dragged him to the next shelf, looking through more cute things.

      Im in a mood where im just thinking about some of my favorite fics, so im gonna talk about them, why they are amazing, and the authors, if your willinng to listen to me ramble look under the cut.

 they all just so happen to be the kind with really great oc’s and certain character development that makes even the canon characters so much different, which is funny because usually i tend to shy avay from oc things due to it usually being mary sueish (not that thats bad, honestly great for those writers, go have fun and do whatever you want, go enjoy whatever you want, its just not my thing in any media).

      like the kind that genuinely should have its own fandom and shit, also both of the writers im talking about have also started other projects since ive been reading their fics. i found each author at different points  while in different fandoms, i found @mewmewchann ‘s Despair From The Heart when i was really into danganronpa and following her blog was one of the big things that led me to interacting with things i enjoy in general. 

      Despair From The Heart is a fangan that follows the 52nd killing game aka rantaro’s first killing game, all of the characters and murders are amazing and there is so many great twists and secrets and i really love it, the characters are super great and i actually tend to enjoy a lot of them more than some canon characters. its also fun to ship them and all the canon pairings have amazing dynamics and chemistry. i really recommend reading it in general. 

     shes also making a second fangan staring an entire cast of awesome characters, its just starting out, but knowing her writing im excited to see where its gonna go and what its gonna do with the setting and cast it has, this one is also semi illustrated with big scenes being illustrated. i really recommend both of her fics if you want a great fangan that defies most of the danganronpa rules, or if your not into danganronpa, just for the plot and characters because they are so good, i would advise not to read it if your squemish about gore of death cause some of them are super brutal.

      the second author i found really recently actually, the fic i found has been ongoing since 2016, with a long hiatus at some point before i found it. the funny thing about this one was that i wasnt in either fandom when i found this fic, i was looking for crack marvel crossovers with random fandoms because marvel crossovers tend to be surprisingly good sometimes and i like them, i found it cause of wordcount i think and decided it looked like a fun read. anyway its a homestuck crossover, now im young enough to have never gotten into homestuck, heck if i hadnt had a habit of researching internet history i probably wouldnt know it existed, well i guess ive been dragged into liking it now, but i wasnt at the time

      A Lullaby For Gods is a homestuck/marvel fic that starts out as a light fluffy crackfic about the beta kida and loki all sharing an apartment in new york after the events of thor... it did not stay that way haha... at some point plot starts to actually happen and it keeps picking up from there, it follows a homestuck kind of act style and the other homestuck kids are slowly introduced, the story focuses a lot on the characters and their development and relationships while also having an amazing set up and forshadowing for plot points, the development really does feel natural and we’ve ended up with some really great characters that have developed from canon characters, and some amazing original characters that are definitely being more focused on later in the story where the plot really gets crazy. there are also main cast characters based on Will Graham from Hannibal, and Cecil Palmer and Kevin from Welcome to Nightvale, though these are mostly just characters based on the source material and its not a plot point. its overall excellent and i cant recommend it enough! (also hello, the ships are also immaculate, even if one of the best isnt canon, halsaph my beloved, oh well at least we still have nereus and HoD /lh)

      @inkteacup the author, is an amazing writer whos characters are incredibly interesting, made even more so by their different relations to the homestuck kids. im incredibly happy i found them as their writing is something i really enjoy. the other project they’re working on is a webcomic set in a sci-fi/fantasy world with things like aliens and also magic, its not very far along so i dont know much but there is a language so thats fun. it seems to be a very fleshed out world, and it supposedly focuses more on the original characters from lullaby which im very excited about, with im assuming some characters based off the homestuck characters from the fic, i say from the fic because some of them have undergone enough development they feel more like original characters based on homestuck characters. i really wish all of these would blow up and gain their own fandoms but the rest are fanfiction so thats pretty improbable, so ill probably be spreading a lot of star stranded propaganda because i want at least one of these to get big and even if the chance is tiny its still a chance, ill also probably be spreading propaganda for all the fics too but star stranded the most probably. if i have time

      i genuinely think both of these writers are amazing at what they do and im definitely going to be continuing reading and consuming their content as its incredibly interesting, i really want to thank both of these authors for always making my day with their stories, even when im left crying over anshu and literally everyone in dfth, even when im left laughing about the groupchat being chaotic cunning crime found family or when japer is his evil conniving self, especially when im left giddy as nereus reminisce about the heir or after saph gives hal his first real hug after telling him he deserves to be cared about or when miko fussed over ayano or rikona dragged the kid she was determined to be friends with places to have fun. both of your works mean a lot to me at this point and from the bottom of my heart, thank you.

so first things first their parents. im gonna lay this out, the beta kids and trolls are all greek (EXCEPT sollux hes roman cause his parent has no greek equivalent), and all the alpha kids and trolls are those gods roman equivalents (,,EXCEPT dirk cause he kinda balances sollux being roman out). i havent figured out how thatd happen like 16+ times yet cause in the percy jackson books theres only ever been one instance of two siblings of the same godly descent being greek and roman respectively in HISTORY so like.. i guess th. i guess thats just not a problem in this au

anyway this gets really long so im gonna talk about the beta kids and trolls cause i havent elaborated on the alphas at all ((peep the tags if you wanna see their parents though))

johns the son of zeus, rose is the daughter of athena, dave is the son of apollo, and jade is the daughter of demeter. they were all raised in their respective states, all had to come to new york for various reasons. jades been there the longest, shes been there 9 years and shes been on a couple quests. her biggest accomplishment so far is how she protected the camp from this big vicious angry hellhound that got past the barrier. naturally the girls fluent in Dog Training, so she steps up and instead of trying to kill this thing, she reaches out and tames it as fast as she can. it ends up actually working, and ever since that day she, her cabin, and the camp have a whole bodyguard sleeping right outside the demeter cabin! hes her steed in battle and hes a Very Good Boy. and his name is becquerel

johns the newest kid at camp, he has no idea who he is or why the fuck his school got attacked or why in the hell those anemoi thuellai were so fixated on him or HOW in the hell he absorbed the lightning one threw at him and ended up fine,,, hes just a big mess right now. a big enough mess that when he got claimed by literally zeus, no one else was around, he shrugged it off as some basic magical happening, and he stayed in the hermes cabin far longer than he should have cause no one! fucking knew he got claimed! by zeus of all people! dumbass. he ends up figuring it out though. like an off-hand mention about how this “weird lightning thing appeared above my head a couple weeks ago, haha weird right?” once he figures it out he realizes “hey i might be able to fly” so he sneaks off into the woods to try it. he succeeds fairly quickly but god almighty everyones face the one day the dude just yote himself off a small cliff without warning,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

dave and rose are really tight, theyve been there roughly the same time length, and since their cabins are across from each other they just bother each other all the time. daves the resident Doctor even though he really doesnt look it cause hes got the apollo powers. apollo is the medicine god. so if you wound your stupid ass in battle daves in the ER room patching you up with his glowy hands. rose on the other hand is a very good strategist. shes one of the only athena kids ever recorded to actually have a power - telekinesis. she has no idea how she developed it, she thinks its from birth, but it freaks her out. shes training it though.

so the beta trolls, are also all human(ish). aradias hades kid. but i pulled a pjo trope on her based on one of my favorite characters (im not saying for spoilers, but if you recognize the situation, You Probably Know Who Its Based Off) and aradia died. her mom, the handmaid, had been pulling some Shady Ass Shit and ended up getting herself killed, but aradia tried saving her and ended up going down with her.

so handmaid gets sentenced to the fields of punishment in the underworld, and aradia gets sentenced to elysium, heroes paradise. shes like “no i want my mom to be okay” so they take that away from aradia and they put them both in the fields of asphodel, the neverending grey space for Not So Good But Not So Bad people. her mom becomes a shade (shadow spirit, no human resemblance), as all people do, but aradia. doesnt? and she gets dunked in the fucking river lethe and if you dont know what that does it erases your memory. so she just. comes out of the river like “hello? wgat tae fukc goin on??” but she still remembers one thing. there was an “a” in her name.

tavros is the son of hermes, hes just kinda taken on the role of backup counselor for when the actual cabin counselor is out. hes in a wheelchair, but he also has prosthetic legs for when he needs to actually stand up and fight. hes really good at it too. also catch him in winged converse cause he Owns Those and Uses Them To His Advantage. hes trying his best to keep focused on the camp, cause aradia was his childhood friend, he misses her a whole lot, she never got to camp in the first place. and to his knowledge, shes still dead.

sollux is a janus kid. thats a problem cause janus is roman, and this is a greek camp. he grew up with dave, he showed up with dave, hes been at camp as long as dave. but hes been unclaimed since he showed up so he thinks hes unwanted by whatever parent he has. he knows hes a demigod, he got through the camp barriers, so what the fuck is wrong with him? he also feels shitty cause hes shit at the greek lessons, he cant read a lick of it which literally every demigod without exception should be able to do, he cant name any gods- well, he can, but.. he gets their names mixed up. why does he keep calling poseidon “neptune”? and he has a much, much different way of natural fighting than other kids. they slice, he jabs. he wasnt taught to jab. 

karkat is an aphrodite kid with vitiligo, and to make matters worse, hes ace and on the aro spectrum. to make matters WORSE, the aphrodite kids are kinda notorious for being really shallow, really materialistic, and really mean. karkats been dubbed the “runt” of the cabin, he gets made fun of for his spots to the point where he uses make up and magic to conceal them. worst of all? hes the kid of the goddess of love, for fucks sake. being reminded that “loveless people shouldnt be able to stay in this cabin, mom must have made a mistake claiming you” is kind of.. a blow to the self esteem. long story short he hates aphrodite for claiming him, and would have rather stayed in the hermes cabin. but he eventually goes on this big quest thats vague as fuck right now but Its The Main Plot, he ends up proving to himself that hes worth something and that his siblings are wrong, and my FAVORITE LINE IN THE WHOLE THING i came up with is HIS when he deals a final blow to some big monster: “REMEMBER MY FACE THE NEXT TIME YOU REINCARNATE. MY NAME IS KARKAT VANTAS, I’M THE SON OF APHRODITE, AND LOOKS CAN KILL.”

nepeta isnt anywhere near developed as others are unfortunately, shes a daughter of ares and shes really really good at hand to hand combat. shes small but she leads groups of people in things ranging from camp volleyball games to actual literal wars. shes a tough little shit

kanaya isnt really developed either, i have yet to figure out most of her powers too actually, shes a daughter of iris, the rainbow goddess though. (blatant reference to both kanayas vampirism and. h. her. sh. es ga. gay) ONE THING SHE CAN DO THOUGH is iris message at will without water or drachmas so really shes just everyones go to cell phone and its fucking hilarious cause people just come into the cabin like “KANAYA I NEED TO TALK TO [X]” and shes like “You Better Fucking Pay Me I Am Not Your Personal Cell Phone”

terezi is the daughter of nemesis and she has this really peculiar power she hasnt really gotten the hang of yet. she has synesthesia, so while she cant see she can smell and taste the colors of her surroundings and its really helpful. sometimes though she gets messages from her mom. they dont even come as dreams half the time, they come as almost a different plane altogether. tez has the power to literally tip the scales, pretty much. and when she gets like that, she can see. shes not on earth though, shit on earth stops when shes like that. shes just kinda In Her Own Head, i guess? and in her head she holds the two scales in her hands. she is the arms of the scale. and depending on which one she lifts up, she can literally alter the fate of the battle or happening thats going on By Herself. once she chooses she just whooshes back to real life though and nothing has changed. the only downside? it takes a LOT of energy and cant be exploited for little things. her one thing on her bucket list is to tap into said powers while getting something from a vending machine so like three things will fall out but it hasnt happened yet and shes upset

vriskas a daughter of tyche, the luck goddess, come the fuck on you knew i was gonna, i havent really elaborated on her either and im upset about that. but hey now you get a break from all those fucking paragraphs

equius is a hephaestus kid, and he kinda stays in the background. hes a range fighter, he spends a lot of time in the forge, and even though its been a project looooong since forgotten, hes been excavating the tunnels under cabin nine for years. by himself. he has no idea where they lead, but dammit hes gonna find out where. he has no idea about a certain bunker in the woods though...

gamzees just there for a fucking laugh tbh hes a son of dionysus and i love that cause hes the god of wine and parties and insanity. usually gamzees just zoning out somewhere hes Not supposed to be, and hes not affected by the maenads FUCKED UP BULLSHIT that goes down the forest sometimes. also hes so fucking scared of tavroses wing shoes he tried them on once while he was high and JESUS CHRIST

eridan is the son of kymopoleia, a SUPER obscure goddess. lets just say dont fuck with eridan cause his mom is the goddess of violent sea storms,

and naturally, feferi is the daughter of poseidon. cause who the FUCK else would she be the daughter of. WHO. NAME ONE GOD

1. What’s your favorite character(s) to write for?

OH LORD ok um. ok so. my favorite characters to write for actually Aren’t my favorite characters in the show. they just happen to be the ones that i give my best concepts to bc they fit it the best SFDLKSDFJ so like, tsukki. i give literally ALL my best concepts to tsukki it’s embarrazzing. i am embarrazzed. but then again there are the characters that Become my favorites because i give them my best concepts like ushijima bc the potential with his character is just. so great. and then there’s iwaizumi who i give all my best fluff fics to LMAOOO... honestly surprised they turn out as well as they do but they Always seem to do the best reception-wise so 🧐

5. Do you listen to music while writing?

not usually, but if it’s something that’s heavily music related like requiem i do listen to related to the concept i’m writing! like i’ve mentioned before though, since i visualize my fics as if they were in film, if the scene wouldn’t normally have an ost playing in the back i wouldn’t put an ost in my head while writing :3

17. What fanfic tropes do you gravitate to writing for?

awww hell hm...i usually like the forbidden lovers trope...LIKE no not Forbidden per say but like. the ones that have conflicts that are actually . conflicts not easily resolved by a simple sit down and talk. i liked Layers to my conflicts. the ones where sometimes love isnt Enough...but they Want it to be enough.....but that just makes it hurt even more bc they know the love is there, but other factors are there as well and it’s just a constant push and pull of love vs duty (whether it be like family obligation or internal conflict with oneself or etc etc etc)... can you tell what my ushijima fic is about LMAOOOO

18. Do you prefer editing as you write, or waiting until it’s finished?

it depends on what you mean by editing haha. i definitely don’t move on from a sentence unless i’m somewhat happy with the wording, but if i’m at a complete loss usually i put in brackets [figure it out later dummy] and highlight in blue and just continue with the scene LMAO. but generally i don’t like to go Too far to the end without the parts i’ve written being somewhat edited; beta reading is another story tho, usually i have my friend beta like, halfway through to make sure i’m on the right track (if it’s a long fic) and then have her beta again once it’s finished!

I haven’t been a beta for almost two decades (whenever spellcheck was eventually invented– yes im that old). And as a reader, I’m actually a super mega critical fuck when it comes to what I read. I’ve always been a very avid reader, and have always SUPER hated when people pushed their book recs on me (it’s like… if i find the thing worth reading ill choose it myself okay?) I do this with movies/tv shows too haha.

I don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings, and i don’t even know you so its zero judge on your character anon, ahahaha but i’m really not interested in being send fic to read :X It makes me super uncomfortable and there’s so much propensity to do real damage and hurt feelings just because something isnt up my alley. I’m sure as hell not the metric by which all is judged and i am so far from perfect its not even funny. Art is subjective anyways, so just because I don’t like something doesn’t mean its not good, and vice versa (the pineapple on pizza debate, for example xD AHAHAH).

Honestly, I’m not very vocal about my own squicks/things I hate in fic (I don’t post about that because I don’t want it to look like im passing judgment on anyone else :D). So like, without even knowing my serious squicks, can’t avoid them, right? :) And I don’t feel like listing them all/providing that information to the void voluntarily, and I definitely have my own triggers, so please don’t ask me to beta-read things/ ‘take a look at’ things/ gift me with fic (I LOVE the thought and love the sentiment!! plz don’t get me wrong I don’t want to come off as an asshole! xD That’s SUPER sweet, but I need to protect my brain above anything else).

6. If you plan, what does your planning process look like?

A lot of my moots or writers i know go with the flow, but i like to thoroughly plan out my fic!! (scene one; bla bla and so on)

7. How would you describe your writing style?

Inspired by many of my favorite writers throughout the years!! If a certain scene/dialogue had a big impact on me then i would def have the concept of it imprinted in my mind and would naturally come to my writing.

Sometimes my own thing comes and i get so shocked with myself HAHA

13. Multichapter fics or one shots?

Both!!!! If it’s multichapter then that has many cliffhangers and lots to think about to the next chapter’s release and then the element of surprise!!!! Love it all the time

And one-shots that was long or very plottwisting is also very good, it’s one of those middle of the night reads to think about until the morning and it just leaves a great impression

18. Which is more difficult, the title or the summary?

It has to definitely be the title for me LMAO most come from inspiration from song titles, other fic titles, movies, ect. but summary is just,,, give a little snippet to them without telling them the whole fic yaknow HAHA

19. Do you have a beta reader?

JFNSJ believe it or not i dont!!!! i beta read my own stuff whcich is actually pretty bad because i should have other people’s opinions on my fic hmm

actually i was pretty scared of other people’s opinions idk :0 but after i came to kflixnet i got very familiar to beta reading and feel very comfortable for them to beta read my works!!!

20. Do you prefer to edit as you go, or once the piece is finished?

Edit as i go :’) wait actually now that i think of it i do both :00 but i do the latter like weeks after the work is published HAHA

21. Do you listen to music as you write?

Yes. Music is a definite must. If I don’t have music my writing just isnt my writing! Most of the songs are super soft nct dream angst hours orrr the songs hiro introduce to me :)

If you want advice, ask more experienced people!!!! I am not one to be asked i am the one asking HAHA I recommend asking from the big writers who write like poetry 👌
