I am disgusted, this needs to stop

Let me say this loud and clear: you failed Brody Grant. I don’t care if you call yourself a fan or not—some of you have crossed every line of decency and respect when it comes to how you’ve treated him. He’s been playing Ponyboy in The Outsiders for over two years, dedicating himself to bringing this role to life night after night. Yet, instead of celebrating his talent and hard work, people have mocked him, overwhelmed him, and acted like his boundaries don’t matter.

What makes this even harder to stomach is something I learned while listening to a guest podcast episode Brody did. He opened up about his struggles with mental health, even admitting that he’s battled suicidal ideations in the past. Hearing him talk about that was heartbreaking—it made it clear just how much he’s been carrying while continuing to give his all as a performer.

Let’s start with the entitlement. Brody didn’t show up at the stage door? So what? He’s not obligated to meet you after a show. Yet some of you acted like this was some kind of betrayal, chasing him down the tunnels and making his private moments public. Do you realize how invasive and selfish that is? This man has given you everything during his performances, yet you’ve made it clear that even his personal time and mental health aren’t off-limits to your demands. News Flash: actors don’t owe you anything more than you payed for-and when you bought your ticket there was nothing say thing you were going to get an audience with him.

And then there are the TikToks and cruel comments. Mocking his singing, his acting, his choices. What exactly did you think you were accomplishing with that? Did you think it was funny? Did you think he wouldn’t see or hear about it?

This is someone who has been honest about struggling with suicidal thoughts—and while he might not be in that place anymore, the damage your words can do doesn’t just disappear. Recovery doesn’t mean he’s invincible. Your petty jokes and mocking TikToks could still hurt him deeply, whether you realize it or not.

The most frustrating part of this is how selfish it all is. You’ve put your own fleeting desires and opinions above someone else’s mental health and humanity. Did you stop for one FUCKING second to consider how your actions might affect him? Did it ever cross your mind that your cruelty could push someone back into a dark place?

Because that’s the reality. Words and actions have consequences. Just because Brody was brave enough to talk about his struggles on a podcast doesn’t mean he should have to deal with the fallout of your selfishness.

He has given you over two years of his life, playing a role that demands everything from him emotionally and physically. He’s done all of this while dealing with challenges most of us can’t imagine. And this is how you repay him? By mocking him, overwhelming him, and acting like his boundaries don’t matter?

It’s disgusting. It’s selfish. And it needs to stop.

If you’ve ever called yourself a fan, it’s time to prove it. Support him. Respect his boundaries. And think about how your words and actions could affect someone who’s already been through so much. Brody has been brave enough to share his struggles—now it’s your turn to be better. Don’t let your entitlement be the reason someone else suffers. Do fucking better.

I'm an amature writer and artist, but can I paint a picture for you? You don't even have to say anything about it, all I ask is that you

There's a woman holding two children's hands. One is standing next to her, crying and whimering quietly. There's a beautiful young woman, with curly hair and nice skin and and makeup on. She's sitting in a well lit library, with her face leaning on her manicured hand. She has long white painted nails. The library in the background is clean and organized, and the woman is also sitting by a window that lets more light into the room. The woman looks a bit annoyed, as if she just had to deal with an especially loud gnat or another equally small thing that she didn't like. There's a caption on the image, it reads "111 days. Impossible to go back to normal." She does not look at all alarmed or scared, or hungry or thirsty, and she does not look hurt. If you haven't guessed by this point, I am not talking about something false. This is written descriptions of images and videos of the current genocide of palestine. I write this as a person who is not of either country, and nor am I in any way related to any person on either side of this war.

I cannot look aside. I refuse to look aside from this. All I ask is that you do the same. Let the world watch, let the world see, and

don't look away.

I saw in a few posts you mentioned wanting to know how to help Palestine. I don't have much, others have compiled better resources, but I hope this helps:

1) Educate yourself:

- Watch documentaries and movies by Palestinians about Palestine ("Jenin, Jenin", "Palestine in the Eye", "Children of Shatilla", etc)

- Read books by Palestinians about Palestine ("The Question of Palestine" by Edward Said, etc)

- Go to the website "decolonizepalestine.com" and read their overview on Palestinian history

- Learn about important historical events in Palestinian history and specific massacres, such as the 1948 nakba, the deir yassin massacre, the sabra and chatilla massacre, and so on

2) Protest:

- Attend protests in your region, if there are any. Look into any that are calling for a ceasefire, an end to the genocide, and end to the apartheid regime, and so on

- Boycott companies which support and fund Israel and the IDF. Specifically, look into the BDS movement and which companies they want boycotted

3) Show support:

- Speak out online against the genocide

- Share posts made by Palestinians that speak out against the genocide, to uplift their voices

- Learn about and appreciate Palestinian culture, history and art

Again, there's a lot more to do and learn about, but these are good first steps I think. Please avoid donating to funds that go to Gaza as the money is not coming in, if you'd like to donate, it's best to donate to organisations that are helping displaced Palestinians in other countries or that advocate for Palestine

You know, when I see the same blogs who were so quick to condemn a Jewish woman now going out of their way to defend a Nazi-loving, anti-Semite, it makes me wonder if they were genuinely offended by what Jenny said or they just hold the same views at the new Mrs Evans. And now that their favourite mediocre white man has made it clear he doesn’t care about racism or anti-semitism, they no longer have to pretend to care about those things either.

If they think their new Queen is going to appreciate them kissing her ass, they’re wrong.
