Here's doodles of him now. Tbh as a kid, I thought he had electric powers, which I thought were connected to his laser vision. So my dumbass always waited for him to do something electric-related other than laser beams, then get frustrated that he doesn't.

For once, as a treat to my younger self, I drew him HAVING electric powers. Also screwed around with the effects and limitations bc why not

I could never forget someone criticizing that wretched live action because aang’s actor is gonna obviously get older and that the original show only takes place in under a year. and the root of their criticism was that “kataang is gonna look less weird” 😭

when aang very obviously matures faster (both physically and emotionally) than the average 12 year old boy between seasons 1 and 3. (like you’re gonna tell me season 1 aang on kyoshi island and finale aang look the same to you??)

because, newsflash, aang is NOT a real human boy.

he exists in a fantasy world where people bend the elements.

and expecting a live action to realistically portray a fantasy cartoon child god correctly was your first and biggest mistake.

A pink whimsicott pushed warm sand over Nat’s shoulders, successfully burying his entire left arm. He’d been working hard to cover him entirely while Luxu made finishing touches on the sandcastle they started together. Now that the Whimsicott was almost done, the two could build a structure around their trainer.

In the distance, Gabe drew closer with something fishy at hand. He stopped in front of Nat.

Very unsuspectingly.

AND BAM GET SEAWEEDED IDIOT

The Whimsicott scrambled out of the way as sand quaked below him, and in doing so, unintentionally caught onto the wind. He drifted away from the unfolding chaos, watching the little human jump like a spoink and erupt in an draconic screech. Gabe’s laughter filled the air as he tripped over himself in his getaway, while Nat chased him around the beach.

🌊🌊🌊

The figures on the beach meshed and blurred as they moved, becoming part of the sand, becoming part of the ocean. A blueish purple hue took over as the event faded away with the tide.

Honestly Ngl, everyone’s always making posts online questioning the cartoon logic of antho animal characters going to the zoo, or having non-antho pets (like the jokes abt Goofy and Pluto)

But if you think abt it, what makes equally no sense if you think abt it too hard as well that nobody talks abt as much,

What abt cartoon pet characters who are sentient with human-like intelligence (even ones that are anthro enough to walk and write and stuff) but are still separated from their parents to be sold to pet owners, even if they don’t want to?

I know I know it’s literally a cartoon where you’re not supposed to think abt it, but still sometimes I do think abt it

Like for example, in Snoopy’s Reunion (the cartoon of the GIF above) and in other comic strips of Peanuts, Snoopy has many moments where he expresses that he misses his parents and hated to be sold away.

(I can’t really remember at the top of my head, but I’m pretty sure there’s other cartoons similar to this, just using Peanuts as an example)

Like what are they slaves? This is just a normal thing for all pets to go through? Snoopy can type/write, couldn’t the mom try to write to the farmer to stop him (it might not work tho) ? Idk I’ve overthinking this lol

So lately I’ve been digging around in this Japanese app to see if I can find any interesting tidbits from the Japanese version of Neko Atsume that didn’t quite carry over when it was localized to English because brainrot lol

And I’ve definitely found some here and there, but otherwise the English translation is pretty faithful for the most part (aside from changing names)

But one particularly odd thing that was lost in translation is Joe DiMeowgio’s personality:

The impression I get from “team player” is a good sport who works well with their team, and that’s fine and dandy and all…

But in Japanese, Joe’s personality is completely different

It was so cute how excited the cupbros were to see each other again. Like they were so happy they squealed. Twice.

Also, it was nice to see some genuine apologies and gratitude after a handful of episodes with the brothers at each other’s throats.

When comedies are done well, the more serious or sentimental moments feel all the more emotional because they stand out. And I definitely feel like that’s the case here — throughout a lot of this episode, really.

I’m very sorry if this is ooc, I’ve never written anything like this before :/

•Five Pebbles is the most emotionally constipated iterator ever made, so this is going to be a very, very long process.

•start by bringing him pearls, trinkets, anything remotely interesting. he is so, so bored!! please give him things!!!

•little by little, he changes. he starts to talk with you more instead of just telling you about what you brought him. he tells you to leave a second later than last time. he lowers his puppet down enough to be at your level.

•eventually, you two could be called friends.

•the cycle Pebbles realizes this, he is more quiet than usual. if you ask what’s wrong, he will tell you not to worry and tell you to leave soon.

•make it clear that you care about him. don’t pry about it, just tell him that you will be there if he wants to tell someone.

•he won’t say anything, but you can tell he appreciates it.

•Eventually, Pebbles will ask “…are we friends?” In a defeated tone, as if you’ve said no already.

•of course, you say yes and… he doesn’t know how to react. His eyes are wide, and pearls start circling him. His antenna flick up and down quicker than you’ve ever seen them.

•Five Pebbles is the happiest he’s ever been after Moon’s fall, and it’s all thanks to one creature at the bottom of his chamber.

•Finally, he opens his arms a little, hoping you will get the hint.

•And if you do hug him, he hugs you back.

just a small thought i had today but - I notice there's always either a lot of misinfo surrounding this show or a lot of negativity - either the characters or the ship, either from new or old fans of Usagi or TMNT... can I just ask yall older fans to be NICER to the younger fans? like some of them might actually like the show but are too scared to say it out loud because of how wide the gamut runs for fan opinions. wish other fans were nicer in general about this show just for the sake of normalcy inside these online spaces :'D

like yea you're allowed 2 have your opinions and all but idk. be nice about it? there are way worse things to be mad about than a cartoon non-adaptation lol

i just feel bad for the younger fans bc i've been in their shoes. you like a show or character bc it really gives you something different or uplifts you during a difficult time.... only to see that a majority of "fans" actually hate it or only like it for the "idea" and like to change it more bc they think it's actually bad... lol i've been there and all I can say is. in that case it's good I guess, to just post on your own blog about it, or just post your art/fic online about it and live in your own bubble. maybe find friends who might like it or post things online and hope to find fans who like it just as much as you

I started drawing because my sister was good at it, and I was kinda obsessing over Rise at the time. I found it pretty fun. These were my first ever drawings I took seriously, and all of them are a redraw of a pose or scene from the show. They aren't the best, but I figured that I was pretty decent at drawing what I see. I was insecure, though, because I couldn't figure out how to draw them in my own poses and way.
