Still on my Ulder & Wyll bullshit but like

I keep thinking of Ulder Ravenguard, sending away his only son at seventeen, and years later hearing of a hero with a fine rapier and mismatched, kind eyes and manners from a storybook, and thinking, demanding surely not. that cannot be my son. my son is a devil's servant. it cannot be. i have no son.

and then after seven long years meeting Wyll again, at Wrym's Rock through a mindflayer's thrall, and feeling something like relief, not at seeing him but at this cold surety that this boy, this man, this hero of the frontiers could not be his son, because his son was not this tall and old and sure-footed, and did not have curling horns and a devil red eye, and the rumors must be wrong, and this Blade must be a stranger.

And then Wyll looks at him, with such kind eyes- his mother's eyes still, even devil-tainted- and calls him "father", and he knows, he knows, and his son is here, so much older and wearier and stronger, too, and he's a hero and a man and by gods he's a monster and by gods he's his son.

it'll doesn't start until the 30th, but there's some pre-release episodes/character bits that are scattered around the website and twitter! (the links to pre-reg/download are also on the website :D)

honestly I'm really enjoying it just based off of the pre-release stuff, these characters look like they're going to be exactly that blend of ridiculous and emotionally constipated that hits me so right.

ahsoka has no personality, practically no character arc, and probably less screentime than any of the other main characters. in the ahsoka show. sabine can suddenly use the force now because she thought about it really really hard. meaningful character interactions are constantly being cut short or interspersed with quips because heaven forbid we linger on any genuine displays of human emotion. morgan's identity as a nightsister could have been really interesting to explore but instead of doing pretty much anything with that her only purpose was to look like an idiot next to thrawn to emphasize what a genius he is. and then die. what motivation do the nightsisters have to help thrawn? that's anyone's guess! ezra is the only rebels character in this show who actually feels even remotely recognizable as his animated counterpart. and after all that we're probably never gonna get any resolution for shin and baylan because fuck me i guess!!!!!

honestly, mass anti-transmasc tantrums like the coffee “boycott” really just make me even more excited to get top surgery.

i can’t help but love the idea of instilling that kind of fear and anger in them just by existing. being so hated by people who are so horrible is really a sort of compliment to me. i’m glad the body i’m making for myself is one they can’t stand to look at; i’m glad that even seeing a cartoon of a body like mine makes them hate the world they live in. as scary as it is to know there are people like them out there who want to see me gone — people who definitely share spaces with me in our daily lives — i’m proud to be so viscerally unpalatable to people with such a twisted worldview.

i hope they have nightmares about me. i hope my scars heal big and thick and bright and impossible to miss. i hope when they see me shirtless it makes them want to scream or cry or throw up or pass out or run away. i hope it conjures gruesome bloody images in their minds that they never stop seeing when they close their eyes. i hope they take one look at me and lose their faith in humanity.

i know there’s no way i can change the mind of every transphobe who looks my way, but at the very least, i know i can make them squirm.
