Unless your a hardcore bootlicker for the police and somehow justify what they did to those poor dogs, please sign and spread this petition as the officers that saw fit to be judge and executioner are so far receiving no consequences for their actions to the point of the police on twitter spreading what looks to be a false story to justify their actions and even clearing themselves of any wrong-doings after body cam footage was looked at, aka police trying to cover for themselves once more.

Coming to terms with the fact that if I ever *were* to breed Troja, finding an appropriate stud would mean sacrificing at least one of these 4 things:

* Known HD status (Troja has A but somewhat shallow sockets)

* Known genetic CEA status (Troja is a carrier)

* No relation in at least 5 generations

* Physical balance (in relation to her)

#i had an eye on a finnish one but he's had a lot of HD in offspring #if i wasnt also sticking to her breeders wishes it wouldve been slightly easier but im NOT burning that bridge #honestly its mostly EITHER having health testing (but linebreeding) OR breeding a pretty+unrelated male (with less health data)#foreign dogs arent a magic solution because its still the same lines + i'll have less chance to assess temperament #and the two main british tric lines active in europe rn are either related to he through mohnessee/casheldor #or actually paternal Sparty relatives - but those are untestable PRA risks

I can't believe I just saw someone defending brachycephalic dogs. They're not ethical and you can't just "ethically breed" brachy dogs that don't have problems. It might be able to be done, assuming all brachy dog breeders agree on it, but these are dog breeders we're talking about.

Breeders who line-breed to rapidly exaggerate traits.

Breeders who don't care if a breed can only give birth via surgical intervention.

Breeders who can't bother socializing their pups.

Breeders who are adamantly against out-crossing because they're into "blood purity".

Far, far, far too many debilitating illnesses are treated as "features" of breeds because dog breeders (at least show breeders, who are the main drivers of what the public sees and the public thinks is normal) can be a terrible group of people who care about status, money, and were one of the places where eugenicists went post-WWII.

A group of people who don't consider the suffering of animals they breed can't be trusted one iota to do a bunch of extra tests to eventually, maybe, have an "ethical brachy" dog breed.

#and i'm not kidding about eugenicists flocking to dog breeding #farmwives were the driving force and biggest supporters for eugenics in canada #well into the 70s and 80s #because 'if we can breed animals for traits why not do so with humans?'#dogs were accessible and had a degree of legitimacy because of the british nobility #and dog generations are a lot faster than cow or horse ones #so people could see their goal in their lifetime and firmly secure it #not to mention the litter sizes increasing the odds of at least one of them fitting one's standards #there are of course some great breeders out there #but usually they breed for the breed itself and any show-quality ones are a bonus #or they're working lines so health and functionality takes priority over form #also i'm not even sure you could breed an 'ethical brachy' dog #you would need to get lucky on so many mutations and those sorts of mutations #tend to impact other parts of the animal #e.g. scottish fold cats don't have only folded ears #their ears are folded because of a mutation that affects cartilage thus causes joint issues and pain #but the main thing people see are folded ears and a lower energy breed #(lower energy because they're in pain and/or too much movement causes pain)#some extremes just aren't possible #or if they are are definitely not ethical #and an animal's well-being >>> your sense of aesthetic

if i had a nickel for every time i now, years later, looked up a book i read as a child/teen with an indian setting and a central plot about a tiger, to find out it was written by a white non-indian woman with no background in anything to do with indian culture, i'd have two nickels which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice

#it's not actually weird bc i doubt local places take care to diversify their authors and keep an eye out #for potential cultural appropriation etc.#and i got those willy nilly at the local library when i was like 10 or so #i just thought Cool! Tiger!#and the other book series i borrowed from a friend who liked it lol #tigermond.....tiger-saga....#what is it about tigers.#tiger saga (or. tiger's curse in english) is abt like. indian princes cursed to be tigers #i dont remember more of the plot. only that British Girl Protag falls in love with them and vice versa but there was actual #plot there that intrigued me when i was younger. i should reread them to see wtf that was all about #and if they're exoticising bc i expect that tbh #i remember i cried at reading the ending of tigermond. which at that point i think was a first i'd never cried at a book before #that's the only thing i remember about that book LOL #cas.txt #also im not dogging on these women. they may very well be respectful and thoughtful in their settings #i cant tell bc i dont remember anything but i want to reread the books at some point just to see
