Alternative System Mind Mapping Method for Communication
[DISCLAIMER: This is not a professional or scientifically or anything really backed method, this is something coming solely from peer / personal experience.]
In regards to an anon ask earlier, I was thinking about it and one of the ways we've approached improving communication - particularly internal - in a way that is a lot less prone to flooding or dealing with trauma or anything too overwhelming - is by approaching it following the concept of Memory Webs
I haven't read up on them recently, but "Memory Webs" were a thing that our AP Psychology teacher in highschool made us do because the AP Psych test was term / jargon heavy. Memory in the human brain has been shown to be HEAVILY associative and the ability to remember and connect things tends to rely on following a "web" of connected topics, ideas, concepts etc from one idea to the next.
So in our AP Psych class, she gave us these GIANT books for Vocabulary Webs that we had to slowly work on, each of which required 6 other vocab words / related concepts, a summarized definition, and an image to represent it. By doing this, you added 6 cues to recall the word (increasing the chance you'd remember it), a visual cue, an episodic memory of working on it, and a definition - all in all improving how connected the word is to other concepts in your brain and making it easier to recall it.
I personally like to look at DID and our parts in a similar manner sometimes where the large issue is that a lot of the nodes in the web of associations are either disconnected or connected through a hard-to-find and/or small chain. In that sense, parts struggle to be held together because they are not associated concepts. It's hard to reach other parts because the dissociative walls (which in our unsubstantiated opinion is less a 'wall' and more so a lack of reinforced neural connections, so I would call them dissociative caverns) keep associations from forming
As a result, alternative to more traditional ways of mapping your system and parts, a method I've liked to internally visualize systems and navigating system dynamics is through a memory web manner. (I actually have never done it physically cause the Ray part of my brain - also the most prominent part writing this rn - rarely liked to front if he didn't have to and did a lot of stuff internally)
Here's a bit of a breakdown using six of our parts if any of you want to try it out.
We personally like it because it strips a lot of trauma and stress off of it and makes it a lot more of a positive and present engaging activity. For the purposes of this, I'll be using the free online app of Milanote cause we've used it before for OC associative webs and I think it'll do fine enough. (Honestly it actually might just be a good way to log alter information now that I'm looking at it if you are at a place in recovery where keeping track of that physically helpful)
So we can start by dropping down the parts we want to include in the form of boards
So from here, we have a bunch of disconnected parts. However, we find that a lot of these parts have things that mean a lot to them, that illicit a strong emotion or reaction from them.
Some parts may lack it more than others (often in our case trauma holders and/or trauma locked parts) and that's okay and to be expected. This is a visualization method and if there isn't much connecting a part that is 100% okay.
For demonstration sake, I will now add bubbles around each part of things that were pretty early apparent that each individual liked.
Also for the purposes of how I know our system works and how I plan to do this, I am actually moving Riku to the center and you will all see why Riku is such an S tier center point with this model
So you can see some connections forming.
Some key things you can take from this visual that also applied to earlier stags of how we connected
Lucille and Riku are and have always been pretty darn connected, they go back as one of the longest duos and were split almost as a pair to deal with academics
Chunn and Ray have a very shared interest of "I don't want to do anything leave me alone"
XIV literally was just a piece of shit early on and didn't have any immediate HARD connections with anyone largely because he never was interested in actually engaging in things he liked in a positive way as his "favorite emotion" at the time was "being pissed off"
Lin - an originally trauma stuck / loop - is very very poorly associated with anything that isn't overtly trauma related (and that is saying something cause Vocaloid is trauma related) and thus has very few connections to other parts
So looking at this though, there are a few things that have some similarities between parts. What you can do is make plans to try to foster the interests that you do have and try to generalize it a bit more to also encompass what interests other parts have. So lets engage in hobbies a little more - explore a few concepts that mean a lot to parts independently - and find some more generalized version of those hobbies
(forgot to add easy listening to Ray's and "only wearing monochrome*" to XIV's earlier) (*there are a lot of nuances and caveats)
Damn, look at that. It's messy and ugly to have in a 2D form. I absolutely hate it, this would be so impossible with our whole system. But HEY, it's very connected - and that's the goal.
Compared to the previous one, you can see how easily it can be for one part's interests to start to drift into another. Because they are largely and strongly associated features to each part, they are a lot more accessible when engaging in their shared / associated connections and interests which makes it easier for the them to stay together near the front, stay associated with one another, and work with and communicate with one another.
Of course anyone following this blog goes "Where tf is Birds" and that I left out because it would ruin the point of the web as it actually is one of our traditional "you are around the system a lot? okay pick a bird" which serves to 1) be a fun system culture thing 2) be a means of welcoming a part in and 3) helps establish a foundational connection; we do the same with music but with music its a lot more elaborate and I probably wont explain it for other reasons.
But overtime, by fostering interests that were already present and encouraging parts to broaden and generalize their specific interest a bit, you end up with a lot of overlapping associations that can greatly improve internal communication, co-fronting ability, and just general fluidity and easy of moving around the brain web.
It becomes a good way of trying to figure out what you can do to encourage and help build connections and associations between parts by seeing where things are similar / could have more overlap (combat and martial arts, different types of fashion, different types of music, different appreciation for arts, taking over the world, yada yada yada)
And you wanna know the coolest thing? When you step back from the whole web you can see certain things appear that stand out the most and have some of the most connections.
If you ever intend to go to Final Fusion, those are the things that will likely be the most prominent traits of your whole self
For us? [REDACTED BIRDS for the point of the demonstration], Music, Fashion, Taking over the World, Recovery and Healing, Buddhism, Martial Arts, Arts in general - they're all some of our largest traits that persist in almost all forms as individual parts, partially fused parts, and fully fused parts.
And the BEST part? Doing this didn't require us to touch trauma at all.
Of course in recovery that will come up cause PTSD doesn't ask permission, but its a very low stress way to help improve internal communication and engagement with one another.

In case it hasn't been made clear, Behind The Codes is not a horror series. Despite having some disturbing themes, it doesn't focus on them the same way FNAF games did.
#I'm a big fan of silence as a cinematic tool#and when something feels wrong but you can't actually point your finger at it#as well as the concept of dreams and nightmares#the more time you spend analyzing them. the more you realize what's really troubling you deep down#some themes and visuals are tricky and make you frustrated because their meanings are unknown to you#things that are “without foot nor head”#might as well mention the concept of time running out. there are PLENTY more themes to explore!#you know you don't have to fear anything. as long as you keep your mind's integrity#but what if someone were to take that away from you. something so personal as a name or a story#an empty vessel will seek out fulfillment and eventually learn to love and hate all over again#starbstalks

I'm holding back from an extended, impassioned, and potentially expletive-ridden rant about my feelings about The Brutalist (a movie I've, as of yet, seen all of ten minutes of) as a Hungarian person, and I'm being so so fucking brave about it
#squirrel speaks#yeah i saw a youtube short just now. yeah i got angry.#as a summary mr brody i think claiming that a performance given using someone else's voice helped you get closer to your HERITAGE#is a tiny bit of an exaggeration. it is certainly not the phrasing i would use.#then again i do have this terrible awful disease#that makes me value the artistic integrity of an imperfect performance given earnestly; authentically; and with respect#FAR more than a performance that's better on paper; but relies on AI tools because the actor couldn't actually do it themselves.#it's called “AI doesn't fucking belong in the arts*”#(*some qualifications and stipulations apply)#(primarily thinking about its use in animation to supplement artists' work on tedious tasks don't get it twisted)#something something you can parade around with borrowed feathers but it sure takes audacity to actually try and fly with them

it feels like theres so much self-aggrandizing on tumblr especially over college students using ai in essays like that isn't just a product of the unrealistic expectations colleges hold of students. when ppl are paying upwards of tens of thousands of dollars per year for Multiple Years to take classes where professors routinely demand more and more work from students (almost entirely self-taught) while learning less, why would anyone want to waste their time, breath, and energy chalking up anything of meaningful substance if you're already completely spread thin between everything while the only thing you need is a passing credit
#like. i dont but its crazy with the mentality some people have on here that other people only do it because they're lazy and ai's convenient#almost like tools are meant to make arduously painful and trivial tasks convenient. and i Like english. i would never use ai to fub a paper#so i just chose to not write at all lol. i went into full blowout and thats what compels people to violate the integrity of#written artistry or whatever fuck

Superman: Secret Origin

#I adored this take on Metropolis#not the shining perfect city but one taken over by capitalistic greed that has seeped down to the very core of daily life#the themes of class consciousness anti-militarism and journalistic integrity all shined through#as well as the more human character driven moments#I love that Clark gets to grow up as a normal boy but is suddenly unfamiliar in his own body and isolated from his peers#he has an actual personality! very rare for Superman comics as I’m learning especially for ones that came out before the last 10 years#he’s empathetic and insightful offering friendship and compassion to Lex Jimmy and Lois#he cares about his job as a reporter! that’s so important to who CLARK is. Superman can save the day but mild mannered reporter Clark Kent#can influence actual structural change#it’s all about the balance#his relationship with Lois feels so real and believable#I totally buy Lois as the dogged and skeptic reporter who learns to trust Superman#and it’s only 6 issues! it’s crazy that they managed to fit all of that and make all the story arcs satisfying#and the final message is that Superman isn’t the great savior of the city#each person can make a positive change through their everyday choices#you are the tools through which the universe cares#soooooo good and something that a lot of the more combat power scaling obsessed stories seem to forget#at the end of the day it’s all about hope

Living in the Apple Ecosystem
For years, Apple has been synonymous with innovation, sleek design, and a user experience that’s second to none. As someone who’s grown to appreciate tech that not only works but works effortlessly, I’ve found myself deeply embedded in the Apple ecosystem. It wasn’t planned—it just happened, bit by polished aluminium bit.
Let’s take a stroll through my collection. It all starts with my iPhone 16 Pro, a marvel of modern engineering. The titanium finish feels premium, the 1TB storage means I’ll never run out of space, and the Dynamic Island feature? A game-changer for multitasking. It’s my pocket-sized powerhouse that I can’t imagine life without.
Then there’s the Apple Watch Ultra 2, the ultimate companion. It tracks my fitness, keeps me connected, and even has a battery life that can survive my busiest days. The black titanium design adds a touch of rugged elegance, making it my constant wrist buddy.
On the audio front, my AirPods Max have transformed how I consume media. Whether it’s blocking out distractions with Active Noise Cancellation or indulging in Spatial Audio for a truly immersive experience, they’re indispensable for productivity and relaxation alike.
For heavy-duty tasks, my MacBook Pro steps in. It’s not just a laptop; it’s my creative workstation, my writing hub, and my multitasking beast. Paired with the iPad Pro, which serves as my digital sketchpad, second screen, and mobile productivity tool, these two are the perfect duo for any endeavor. The seamless continuity between them—thanks to features like Universal Control and AirDrop—is a testament to Apple’s genius.
The best part of this ecosystem is how effortlessly everything connects. Need to transfer files? AirDrop. Want to copy something on one device and paste it on another? Universal Clipboard has my back. Notifications and calls? They appear on every device, so I’m always in the loop. It’s a tech symphony, and I’m the delighted conductor.
Now that I think about it, there’s just one thing missing to complete the set: the HomePod mini. Once Siri gets a much-needed update to make her smarter and more intuitive,(Yes I am looking at you Apple Intelligence) I’ll likely make the leap.
After all, a smart home deserves a smart speaker, and nothing fits the bill better than an Apple product. Until then, I’ll continue enjoying my Apple wonderland—one seamless experience at a time.
What’s your favourite part of the Apple ecosystem? Let me know in the comments below!

one thing i'm really really fascinated by is the fact that everyone in the modern pokemon world seems to consider the deities a power source, nothing more. the games generally imply that knowledge of the legendaries has been lost to time and legend and only preserved by a select few who keep to the Ancient Ways but i don't really think that sounds likely. i think they might be common knowledge people just don't seem to. conceptualize them as greater than in the way that we generally think of them. "this is a divine force that underpins reality and has been worshipped since antiquity" is not a thing that seems to have any problem coexisting with "i'm going to put this thing in an engine and make it my tool." and it's very frequently the baddies doing this which maybe weakens the point a little but very rarely is the point of contention with the bad guys "hey you shouldn't do that to god" that's kind of like, never the part of their thing that people object to. it's always their motives, never their methods. when the Good Guy (local ten year old) catches god and makes it their new partner, nobody has a problem with it! and people joke about this but i'm saying it might imply a way deeper facet of society than people give it credit for.
and is this maybe trying to force the round peg of pokemon legendaries into the square hole of actual religion. very possibly! the games aside from pla certainly seem only very occasionally interested in treating these creatures as gods or godlike or worshipped in any way, and far more often just want to treat them as regular pokemon But Stronger. so it's maybe not reasonable to try and say these entities are deities. but the problem is they are! it's not like this isn't supported textually, it's just... not a part of canon that canon is actually interested in. dialga, palkia, the lake trio, kyogre, groudon—these things are gods. canon can mince words and call them legendaries and "worshipped as deities maybe sometimes" but when you get to the point where you're discussing something that represents a fundamental force governing reality and/or can end the world on a whim then idc what you call it. that's a god.
but the problem is that they are gods and also pokemon, they're both simultaneously. and people in the pokemon world seem to have worked this out, and have had the collective realization that the gods are truly not exempt from their own rules. they can be captured, they can be subjugated, they can be used. this also ties back in with the whole anarchism discussion obviously but it's just the fact that like. it goes way deeper than everyone being fine with the ten year old putting the lord of time in a ball. the entire world operates on the premise of "eat your gods."
does that like... contradict worship? can you be faithful to something knowing it's been used as a tool?
#the nemesis speaks#pla analysis#this is essentially one long rambling conversation with myself because i should really be going to bed#this all also hinges on the pokemon/trainer relationship conceptually which ive never had a chance#and/or willingness to really try and dig into that bc it's like.#an idea that feels intuitively easy to grasp but would be way more difficult to explain in words#it's not... it's really not like anything we have in the real world. it's Different.#but like. gestures vaguely. also relating to the distinction btwn Tool and Partner in that relationship#and how the former is generally how the Bad Guys lean wrt both their pokemon AND the gods#whereas the latter is how the protagonist and most non-evil people approach it.#anyway. going to bed now promise promise#but im not even talking about the key players in the games i'm talking about the regular guys! the everyday randos!#religion is so integral to our societies and it's clear that this was at least in the PAST a thing that the pokemon world people possessed#but... what about the modern day? are dialga and palkia still worshipped? reshiram and zekrom? xerneas and yveltal?#another of the many. many many reasons i want to Do Something with the hypothetical history sitting around in my notes#cause it also comes back around to this concept of people using gods as tools#OKAY. SLEEP. NOW.

Combining forces, GSAP & Webflow!
New Post has been published on https://thedigitalinsider.com/combining-forces-gsap-webflow/
Combining forces, GSAP & Webflow!
Change can certainly be scary whenever a beloved, independent software library becomes a part of a larger organization. I’m feeling a bit more excitement than concern this time around, though.
If you haven’t heard, GSAP (GreenSock Animation Platform) is teaming up with the visual website builder, Webflow. This mutually beneficial advancement not only brings GSAP’s powerful animation capabilities to Webflow’s graphical user interface but also provides the GSAP team the resources necessary to take development to the next level.
GSAP has been independent software for nearly 15 years (since the Flash and ActionScript days!) primarily supported by Club GSAP memberships, their paid tiers which offer even more tools and plugins to enhance GSAP further. GSAP is currently used on more than 12 million websites.
I chatted with Cassie Evans — GSAP’s Lead Bestower of Animation Superpowers and CSS-Tricks contributor — who confidently expressed that GSAP will remain available for the wider web.
It’s a big change, but we think it’s going to be a good one – more resources for the core library, more people maintaining the GSAP codebase, money for events and merch and community support, a VISUAL GUI in the pipeline.
The Webflow community has cause for celebration as well, as direct integration with GSAP has been a wishlist item for a while.
The webflow community is so lovely and creative and supportive and friendly too. It’s a good fit.
I’m so happy for Jack, Cassie, and Rodrigo, as well as super excited to see what happens next. If you don’t want to take my word for it, check out what Brody has to say about it.
