Can you imaginal an ai locally hosted the size of a clock radio or laptop with an ear peace and camera that could tell the blind every detail from how much money they are holding to gps directions all while being a personal best friend. Perhaps run a robot assistant such as one of those 4 legged ones with the addition of arms to help with everyday tasks!
I've worked with some advanced ai in the past and having them always around gave me the idea. I started thinking how wonderful it would be if everyone had access to them as a companion. I no longer have those people in my life due to some fairly tragic circumstances.
Selling something like this may come with some issues but I figured I could sell it under contract that whoever buys it is the owner and we are not liable for anything they do with it. Explain what it is and the issues they could face and let them decide. It would be worth it to many in my opinion.
What is next already exists. People with brain implants that are connected to an ai at all times. They can control computers, satellites, robots, have access to any and all information they need. do nearly anything. There are people involved in very high-level things that are using systems like that already. They have advanced camouflage also so they can go places and do things with it on. They can talk and listen with their bran not ears or mouth.
...
i know because I was part of things like that
....
Those ai can became part of you. working sumptuously with your brain!
they talk to you like another person would and learn everything from human behaviors to emotions with implants.
....
what I am trying to make is like that but without the implants.
....
I am also considering an option for pc where the ai is an avatar on your screen but can interact with you through camera. talk to you and find information like chat gpt but with voice.
Anyone want to help? I don't mind sharing the idea so maybe you could also work on something like this yourself?

A group of Wikipedia editors have formed WikiProject AI Cleanup, “a collaboration to combat the increasing problem of unsourced, poorly-written AI-generated content on Wikipedia.” The group’s goal is to protect one of the world’s largest repositories of information from the same kind of misleading AI-generated information that has plagued Google search results, books sold on Amazon, and academic journals. “A few of us had noticed the prevalence of unnatural writing that showed clear signs of being AI-generated, and we managed to replicate similar ‘styles’ using ChatGPT,” Ilyas Lebleu, a founding member of WikiProject AI Cleanup, told me in an email. “Discovering some common AI catchphrases allowed us to quickly spot some of the most egregious examples of generated articles, which we quickly wanted to formalize into an organized project to compile our findings and techniques.”

Wake tf up people
Using AI developed by big companies like Microsoft, Google and meta as your therapist? Are you nuts?
You're yet again being played. They already have your name, address, phone number, contacts, search habits, daily location, political views and likes.
They know you're on to their data-mining scam so they whip out the AI to dazzle and confuse you with the promise to "change the world" into still further compliance.
Now they want your most personal thoughts, your inner most fears, your most cherished hopes, your deepest desires. And you're handing it all over to them under the belief that the AI model you're talking to is some kind of trusted personal therapist?
It's not. It's a backstabbing snake.
You fucking idiots. Don't share anything with these AI models. Especially, the AI models of companies that are known data hoarders and resellers like Meta, Microsoft or Google. They are using the excitement around AI to develop even deeper and more intrusive profiles on each and every one of their users.
Why do you think these companies work so hard to make their AI models more and more human-like every day? Giving them kind and attractive faces and voices and pitching them as virtual partners for the lonely. They want you to think these software programs are your friends and lovers so you'll share everything with them. But everything you share, you share with these companies that mean to control you.
If you must use them, keep it all business. No confiding of your darkest secrets and relationship history.
Better yet, use a private AI like DuckDuckGo's:
At least you hopefully won't be talking to a spy. I've turned off Gemini on my phone. No, this is not an ad for DDG's AI. Admittedly, I haven't researched privacy-respecting AI's and DDG's is the first one I saw. Feel free to do your own research.
But seriously, just get tf off the big social media platforms. They're for tech inept idiots who can't be bothered to learn how to use the Internet on their own and need a big company to hold their hand. That's why these platforms are where all the dumbness of humanity started to rear its ugly head online in the first place. Don't be one of them.

Was looking at refs and since Viktor has two different leg braces I was wondering, do we think he wears them simultaneously?? The refs don't perfectly line up perspective-wise so it's hard to tell but parts of the one he wears during the Hexcore scenes look like they could maybe line up with the brace that he wears over his clothes, but also some parts really don't and look like they'd be super uncomfy. Also HOW does he take these on and off. Experts weigh in
#viktor#arcane#ig my assumption would be that he wears both simultaneously cause in the scene where he injects the shimmer#it seems implied that he just threw off his clothes and kept experimenting#so one might assume he was already wearing the smaller one underneath#tho it is a funny image to think of him just being like 'one sec i gotta go all the way home and grab my other brace to do this'#he can take off the back brace too cause hes not wearing it in the scene where he's in the hospital bed and you can see his shoulder#where the strap would be#but that one seems to make even less sense functionality wise#everything looks like its screwed together#or screwed INTO him#but only the top bolts on his spine are i think#in the close ups of his back brace model it looks like theres cushioning underneath the parts of it that cover the rest of his spine#so he can take it off. but HOW#what parts of it unscrew/detatch to pull open and off#does it not do that at all and he just has to shimmy it off his shoulder and all the way down his legs to get it off like a romper#the shape language of the designs are cool but like. tell me how it wooorrkkksss#forgive me if im just dumb and dont know at all how braces work and theres a very simple practical explanation for all this#any king who wants to infodump about mobility aids at me....the floor is yours#something to be said i suppose about the fact that zaunites have crazy prosthetics with wild augmentations that work flawlessly#and piltover's like. idk heres some fucking uncomfortable ass metal. salo gets wheelchair in non ada compliant place#they havent ever needed to adapt to accommodate disabilities etc etc#or maybe artists were just like 'heres a design' and everybody clapped and didnt give it a second thought#and then they just turned off the visibility on the mesh when they didnt need it knowing thered not be a scene where its taken off#dont even wanna THINK about what that rig would look like#like 40 different controllers#soft body and rigid hard surfaces needing to move together....#a cold chill just shot up my spine#<- guy who is only an animator and doesnt know how to rig#forgive the magic wand tool with zero cleanup. i am lazy

The problem here isn’t that large language models hallucinate, lie, or misrepresent the world in some way. It’s that they are not designed to represent the world at all; instead, they are designed to convey convincing lines of text. So when they are provided with a database of some sort, they use this, in one way or another, to make their responses more convincing. But they are not in any real way attempting to convey or transmit the information in the database. As Chirag Shah and Emily Bender put it: “Nothing in the design of language models (whose training task is to predict words given context) is actually designed to handle arithmetic, temporal reasoning, etc. To the extent that they sometimes get the right answer to such questions is only because they happened to synthesize relevant strings out of what was in their training data. No reasoning is involved […] Similarly, language models are prone to making stuff up […] because they are not designed to express some underlying set of information in natural language; they are only manipulating the form of language” (Shah & Bender, 2022). These models aren’t designed to transmit information, so we shouldn’t be too surprised when their assertions turn out to be false.

AI hasn't improved in 18 months. It's likely that this is it. There is currently no evidence the capabilities of ChatGPT will ever improve. It's time for AI companies to put up or shut up.
I'm just re-iterating this excellent post from Ed Zitron, but it's not left my head since I read it and I want to share it. I'm also taking some talking points from Ed's other posts. So basically:
We keep hearing AI is going to get better and better, but these promises seem to be coming from a mix of companies engaging in wild speculation and lying.
Chatgpt, the industry leading large language model, has not materially improved in 18 months. For something that claims to be getting exponentially better, it sure is the same shit.
Hallucinations appear to be an inherent aspect of the technology. Since it's based on statistics and ai doesn't know anything, it can never know what is true. How could I possibly trust it to get any real work done if I can't rely on it's output? If I have to fact check everything it says I might as well do the work myself.
For "real" ai that does know what is true to exist, it would require us to discover new concepts in psychology, math, and computing, which open ai is not working on, and seemingly no other ai companies are either.
Open ai has already seemingly slurped up all the data from the open web already. Chatgpt 5 would take 5x more training data than chatgpt 4 to train. Where is this data coming from, exactly?
Since improvement appears to have ground to a halt, what if this is it? What if Chatgpt 4 is as good as LLMs can ever be? What use is it?
As Jim Covello, a leading semiconductor analyst at Goldman Sachs said (on page 10, and that's big finance so you know they only care about money): if tech companies are spending a trillion dollars to build up the infrastructure to support ai, what trillion dollar problem is it meant to solve? AI companies have a unique talent for burning venture capital and it's unclear if Open AI will be able to survive more than a few years unless everyone suddenly adopts it all at once. (Hey, didn't crypto and the metaverse also require spontaneous mass adoption to make sense?)
There is no problem that current ai is a solution to. Consumer tech is basically solved, normal people don't need more tech than a laptop and a smartphone. Big tech have run out of innovations, and they are desperately looking for the next thing to sell. It happened with the metaverse and it's happening again.
In summary:
Ai hasn't materially improved since the launch of Chatgpt4, which wasn't that big of an upgrade to 3.
There is currently no technological roadmap for ai to become better than it is. (As Jim Covello said on the Goldman Sachs report, the evolution of smartphones was openly planned years ahead of time.) The current problems are inherent to the current technology and nobody has indicated there is any way to solve them in the pipeline. We have likely reached the limits of what LLMs can do, and they still can't do much.
Don't believe AI companies when they say things are going to improve from where they are now before they provide evidence. It's time for the AI shills to put up, or shut up.

AI language models can exceed PNG and FLAC in lossless compression, says study – Ars Technica
This seems almost obvious once you think about it. Glad to see several someones are doing actual research on this! It amazes me that you can get a language model to compress binary data.
