Wanted to add on to the "Raph avoiding sleep at all costs" thing with doodles I had made earlier today oop

TWs - SH (technically), blood, panic attack

... Raph has reoccurring nightmares after the events of Chapter 3. He can't get out of his head the face he saw in that one tape while he was hallucinating... And it doesn't help that his mind keeps twisting it into something worse and worse every time.

He wakes up in a cold sweat. Trembling. Breathing heavily. His heart thumping hard in his chest. And he wants to scream and sob. But he can't. He doesn't want to wake up the kids.

He's found... Ways to cope. Even if they aren't the safest. It hurts for a while, but at least the toys get the rest that they need.

So uh ... Yeah. When he does get some rest, it's... Usually short-lived. He really tries his hardest to hide it from the kids, not wanting to put another burden on their shoulders, but uh...

Yeah. Catnap ain't having any of that bullshit.

Edit : I'm realizing how ironic it is that Catnap is the one that knows about Raph's nightmares and wants to make sure he gets rest when he was literally the being behind said nightmares in the first place 💀

I wanna talk about something very personal under the cut. It's related to the history of the drawing. I've been debating if i should even include it in the post, but it feels wrong not to. You don't have to read it.

I'll probably make a separate post with just the drawings, but without the story.

Im gonna try to keep it somewhat short, but its probably not gonna be.

Two years ago, I was the lowest point in my life. I had a fight with people who I've considered friends since middle school, and now we don't talk. I had lost my job months before that too. That led me down a hole that I've never thought I'd get out of for the longest time.

I couldn't draw, I couldn't create anything for months. It was the one thing that I felt was the most heartbreaking. Whenever i lifted up a pen, i just stared at the paper and did nothing. I even bought a tablet so I could do digital art, i was able to draw some stuff but I was never fully happy with my drawings. After a while, I went back to how i was before.

I don't really have good support at home, so I've tried to figure it out on my own. A way I would distract myself from hurting myself was to binge watch YouTube video compilations.

While doing that, I found a tiktok compilation of Undertale aus. At the time, i hadn't interacted with the fandom in 6 years. I was gonna skip it, but instead I watched it. For some reason (probably Nostalgia) watching it made me feel happy, I felt happy for the first time in months

And the first time in months, i was motivated to draw again, so I grabbed my pen and doodled nightmare from memory, the one from above. After that, I was drawing as many characters as I could remember at the time, and i slowly got better. Both at drawing and mentally

And now a full year later, I'm here posting my art that I'm proud of. I've made new friends, and I feel happy. I obviously don't always feel my best, especially cause depression doesn't just go away, but I'm happier than I was a year ago. It's progress

In a way, this is kinda me celebrating that year-long progress. But it still feels weird knowing that this fucking video games weird ass alternates (/aff) is the reason I got out of a dark place. But I'm very happy it did... and it's even weirder that it's the Guardian of fucking Negativity that did it

If there is a Nightmare before Christmas, then does Christmas exist in Twisted Wonderland?

Well, we don’t know if “Christmas” will be an actual term used in-universe yet. We in the real world know this event will be Nightmare Before Christmas themed, but there is no guarantee this is how it will be depicted in the game itself. In fact, the actual names of the properties the event stories are based on are never mentioned, with the sole exception of Lost in the Book with Stitch (since Stitch is technically a character we meet).

I think they can name “Christmas” something different to avoid the religious implication. This would be similar to how irl languages exist in TWST but are never referred to as such. For example, French words are used (most notably by Rook) but French is never called “French”. Edit: Either that, or maybe the religious elements are kept there but are made questionably vague, like how Rollo is never outright stated to be Catholic yet everything at Noble Bell College is very Catholic in design.

The devs could given a new history or in-universe explanation for the holiday that doesn’t involve religion at all. (Edit: For example, as some commenters have suggested, “Christmas” could become a more generalized winter holiday.) This would be similar to the explanation for Halloween provided in the first Halloween event; irl, Halloween has its roots in a pagan celebration of the harvest season. In TWST, Lilia explains Halloween as being a celebration of the dead/ghosts temporarily returning to the world of the living.

It’s also possible that they don’t mention “Christmas” at all and/or just focus on or mostly focus on the Halloween aspect. Basically a shift of the focus.

I'm making this because I deal with this but jinu would probably be the best person to deal with nightmares, especially because he himself deals with them all the time from his past and from Gwi-ma. He's right there with you if you wake up from a bad dream, holding you and letting you know that its going to be okay. He loves when you hold onto him for comfort, letting you talk about anything and everything to help keep your mind off things.

He's also probably the best person to watch horror movies or play horror games with (At least in terms of ones with ghosts or supernatural things), because he's a demon himself so nothing phases him, he's just laughing at the way they portray them
