In your au do the kids get to have visits from their parents? I am kind of imagining days where all the parents are allowed to come like in some special weekends or something, even though that would kind of ruin all the fuss about being anonymous and protecting the kids’s identities.

I was thinking about it because I realised how uncommon your idea of an hypothetical family for Near was, I think it might be the first time I see anyone imagining them as normal affectionate people.

Then I thought about Mello’s reaction in finding out that in fact Near does not come from a breed of vampires and has a very normal family and a life outside of being an involuntary pain in his ass.

I don’t know, I thought it might be a funny idea.

They do get visits from their parents! Some parents visit every other weekend, some parents barely ever show up (poor Matt :( ) and I’m sure there’s some special occasions where all the families are invited to come visit. Like an open day. The thing with aliases is really hard to explain this way but I imagine the kids themselves make it a game to keep their names hidden and consider it kind of losing the game once the name gets out. So parents visits are always a way for the other kids to listen up if they hear the name being used by a family member. It’s usually just a matter of time until the name gets out but there are some kids considered legendary in this game.

Near is one them. I can see his family absolutely getting this game. Near just told them ONCE “I am “Near” in this institution. Please refrain from calling me any other name. The other kids mustn’t know. It’s a game we play.” and his family collectively being like “Got it, Near.” And they all ace it.

Matt has the “””advantage””” of his only family member rarely ever showing up. And whenever Chris does show up, he never calls Matt by his real name but uses everything from little bugger, mate, lad, sport, champ, big guy, sonny, pal, chief, tiger to buddy … Matt turning around flipping all the kids who lurk around the corner to get his name off while he walks away with his dad haha

Mello is scared of every visit and boy does his mum visit often. He musn’t lose the game under any circumstance but his mum is completely oblivious of the stakes, she doesn’t give a single damn or straight up forgets OR even says the name wrong (Mellie, Malon, Molo, …), no matter how many times he tells her it’s MELLO, GOD DAMNIT. It’s a blessing in disguise, Ivanka uses croatian nicknames for him a lot (sine, zlato, srce, mali, mili, beban, …). Beban is the one she uses most (baby boy), and all the slavic kids holler when they hear the troublemaker being called babyboy.

Wanna talk about Bloodweave and the spawn siblings, specifically how Astarions siblings would interact with Gale in that ending where they settle down in the under dark (and gale starts a vampire book club 🤓)

(DISCLAIMER Since don't know too much about Astarions siblings (more so than others) , alot of this is just me having fun and assigning character traits to them according to how I imagine my game went)

Starting with these two!

Dalyria:

I think these two would get along incredibly well! I can see them talking for hours about their respective (sometimes morally dubious) research, boring absolutely anyone within earshot. I think they could bond over some questionable decisions they've made (gale with the orb And Dal with trying to cure her vampirism with Victoria.) and find comfort in one another . Especially since I HC gayle saves Victoria in game but more on that in Leon's section. Out of all the siblings, Dal is the only one Astarion trusts to leave gale alone with.

Also think Dals research leads to gale finding a way for astarion and the others to walk in the sun again. I don't think she joins the book club tho bc Leon is often there and well... Y'know awkward... But gale does leave a book on her desk from time to time.

Petras:

ahh the spawn I love thinking about post game the most bc I think Petras develops a big crush on Gale. I see it being pretty gradual tbh, He doesn't like Gale at first because he's Astarions and Petras has made it a habit to dislike everything about his "older brother" thank you very much (even though I think petras entire coping mechanism is to badly copy everything about astarion bc he subconsciously thinks it was the only way to survive his enslavement, hence they way he talks and Astarions fucking EA outfit, he stole it from Astarions trunk when he disappeared I just know it) .

So yeah I think it's a few months of Petras being huffy around this handsome annoying wizard while Gale continues to be nice to him. One day Gale offers to teach petras magic (he's a teacher by heart!) much like the canon weave scene and it ends with Gale genuinely but naively exclaiming "You're a natural! Why, you've picked it even faster than Astarion did!"

This is cataclysmic.

It's the first fucking time Petras has been better than Astarion in anything. Petras is immediately heart eyes and obnoxiously smug. Astarion is murderous. Leon and Dal stop a murder. Gale is sent to sleep on the couch.

Any potential brotherly reconcilation is destroyed by Astarion overhearing Petras telling Dal that when Astarion fucks this up then Petras will swoop in and marry Gale. Violet begins to cackle as all of her siblings hold Astarion ,whose now willing to lose an arm, back from dragging Petras to the surface

Petras joins the book club just bc Gale's leading it. He does not read anything but pesters Yousen for answers so he can look smart in front of Gale.

The Vampire King’s Entertainer || (Vamp! Caelum)

Soooo let me explain this concept i have for Caelum’s other swap counterpart in a brief description—

He is a vampire dressed up as a jester that entertains the royal vamp family (even tho he’s part of it) and is very much kinda porter-coded in this au.

In his human life, he died after he turned 18 over 80 years ago which is what caused his madness now. He still has his childish side…just a “tad” bit crazy.

He is very bloodthirsty, but mainly for the people he finds to be malicious to the royal family. He will not hesitate to slaughter anyone that interferes.

vampire hunter!rafe who doesn't realise Ward is a hunter and the Cameron ring is a resurrection ring until he dies as a result of working for Katherine.

vampire hunter!rafe who's still very much unhinged and sociopathic even though people always assume hunters are the good guys.

vampire hunter!rafe who hits on Bonnie even though he's too old for her. Caroline would love for him to be older sexy danger guy 2.0 but she's too perky and spoiled for him.

vampire hunter!rafe who gets obsessed with weapons and power, eventually finding a knife that siphons witches and makes him stronger so he then exclusively hunts witches.

vampire hunter!rafe who kills supernatural creatures because they're an abomination not because they're evil or murderous and who's basically a gun for hire.

vampire hunter!rafe who dates Liv until her death and plans to kill Kai for revenge.

vampire hunter!rafe who would probably fully support the Augustine Society and is lowkey a human supremacist.

vampire hunter!rafe who despite being a hunter often ends up with supernatural beings due to a taste for hot crazy chics.

vampire hunter!rafe who's from out of town but Kildare has it's own Founder's Council equivalent which Ward is on.

vampire hunter!rafe who hatches a plan to get Kai alone in a prison world so he can kill him but the Camerons betray him and lock them both in there.

this has been simmering in my head for a good two hours, so i thought id get it out there before the anniversary ends. i love monster high, but the design for jackson jekyll and holt hyde is um, something else.

this is Henry Jekyll Jr: the grandson of Henry Jekyll Sr (book jekyll), aspiring alchemist, lived next to and studied humans, created a formula called HJ7 to get rid of his "monstrous" traits. Instead of turning him into a human like he planned, he managed to split his soul in two (this is before he goes to monster high) he's always had this strange fascination with humans that none of the other monsters really understand, but he is still passionate about science. i thought itd be cool to have a reversed concept where monsters and mad scientists is the norm and being a normie is abnormal. this leads to jekyll struggling to connect to either side since he feels he can't be either or

then you have Edward Hyde 2.0 (THE ORIGINAL HYDE JEKYLLED HIMSELF): idk man he just wants to party he doesn't really hang around the school too much (he thinks its boring) but he's still pretty passionate about science. He looks like a normie and though monsters "tolerate" him, like Jekyll, he's kind of alienated and bad tempered. most students dont really like him too much actually (he's prbably gotten into fights) he'll spend his time partying with normies, going into town, causing trouble. Occasionally, he'll hang out with Rachel or go back to his dorm to work on a passion project.

i havent thought too much abt the other characters besides lanyon = vampire, frankenstein = exactly the same. idk i thought itd be cool if henry looked like the monster instead and was trying to fit in with humans while hyde looked like a human who wanted to fit in with the monsters

I started this on actual Day 1, and as usual it spiraled into something much bigger than the simple doodle I started with, but I definitely enjoyed thinking it through and finding my take on the concept!

Anyone else imagining a role swap AU?

In this AU, the new companions' personalities and alignment would obviously be tweaked from their OG antagonistic selves to be more malleable to Tav's influence. And some of them would probably have to be made a bit younger to appeal to younger gamers, but that's an easy alteration. I thought these would be easy characters to fit into. That said, Viconia would probably fufill the role of Jaheira/Minsc as a previous BG companion who's non-romanceable this time around. Perhaps something like this:

Cazador is a vampire whose spawn betrayed him after discovering the Rite of Ascension, and they've all fled (conveniently timed since the nautiloid attack distracted him). He joins Tav to track them down, eventually revealing that the ceremony was for ascension, and Tav can either help him overcome his sadistic and controlling nature (perhaps his "children" may even forgive his years of abuse), have him kidnap the spawn again and complete the ritual, or have Cazador turn Tav into a spawn, only for Tav to turn against him and claim ascension for themselves.

Viconeia could pretty much be Shadowheart 2.0, having followed Shar and killed her previous group, only to be cast aside for the special daughter of Selune, and Viconeia feels abandoned. Tav could help Viconeia regain Shar's favor or turn against Shar.

Larroakan could hear about the Nightsing and hope to claim immortality (though he is weary about revealing this near Cazador), but you could turn him against it or kidnap her and offer immortality. Kinda like Gale's ascension to godhood. Perhaps in this AU, Gale is a recent god of ambition who Larroakan was inspired by, and Gale feels somewhat threatened by Larroakan's quest for immortality, believing he's trying to replace him as the GOA.

Mizora, as a half-fiend working for Zariel, isn't as malleable to the side of good, but Tav can sweettalk/persuade her into being slightly more altruistic. She's kinda just there for the ride rather than having a specific storyline.

Kithrak Voss could be recruited as the opposite of Lae'zel, loyal to Orpheus. But Tav can persuade him to discovering his own desires or returning to Vlakith.

Gortash could've hired Karlach as his bodyguard and took her under his wing, only for her to prove she's smarter than he knew, managing to expose his crimes and leave him in disgrace while Karlach became the hero of Baldur's Gate. You could help him get revenge, start fresh schemes somewhere else, or give up the political game entirely, with his backstory with his parents and Raphael being significant parts of his story.

As a Selune worshipper, Ketheric's up in odds against Viconeia, and his personal tragedy at losing his children (let's assume Thisobald and Gerringothe are also his children here) make his conviction even more admirable. When he discovers his daughter Isobel is alive, it reinvigorates his spirit. Tav can lead him down the path to cleansing the rot that's infested his former home, or (if Isobel dies again), take a new form amongst the decay caused by Halsin, a fallen druid who is the friend of Oliver.

Orin is the daughter/granddaughter of Sarevok Anchev, and has temporarily escaped his clutches thanks to the nautiloid, though Minthara, a temporary chosen of Bhall, along with her relative the Dark Urge, are hot on her trail. Going between fits of madness and rage due to her heritage and upbringing, Tav can calm her mind or have her feed into the rage.

I haven't been able to draw lately but when I do, I have this idea for a FMA AU where Ling is secretly a cat chimera because that explains him a lot really (jumping in through a window, having a huge appetite, perching on roofs, mooching-all very cat stuff). I'm sure someone has thought of this already. Perhaps he got like that because of an assassination attempt that left him severely injured even at like, a metaphysical level, so the top alkahestrists in Xing had to turn him into a chimera to save his life. (However they may have also done it rather than seek an alternative to decrease his chances at the throne by basically turning him into a "monster"). So in this AU, Ling tries to hide his eyes often on purpose to cover any glare from a tapetum or to make sure people don't see he has slit pupils. Most of his cat features are hidden until released. Greed's first reaction is of course "Sweet, a chimera, I love chimeras!" when he first meets Ling in his body. Greed 2.0 flaunts the cat traits at times and likes to look like this ferocious humanoid cat demon vampire beast. He likes to do snarl matches with Heinkel. Both of them do purr when petted.
